Hi there! I just saw your post about starting your tretinoin journey (not sure how old the post was), just wondering if you had an update? I鈥檓 starting mine in a week and I鈥檓 a little nervous 馃槵
Hello thank you for sending this ask!!!
That post was almost 3 4 months old and today in September I am almost 4 months into my tretinoin journey :)
So I did go in with a lot of research and since I was using a lot of actives already, ensuring that I didn't compromise my skin barrier was my first and only rule.
I turned 30 this year and haven't had bad skin ever but adult acne is something I've dealt with since 3 years now and that was bothering me a lot. Haven't noticed a huge change in my skin texture bcz they do say tret is a long term game and you should definitely stick to it for atleast 6 months to see a noticeable change starting to come in.
My routine for tret is once a week only. Sometimes I stretch it to 10 days if i use an AHA based product in between. Right now I still have some clogged pores and faint acne scarring but overall my skin texture, complexi贸n has improved tons!
A positive I've noticed definitely are my chest wrinkles which were set in deep have started to become better bcz I use tret on my neck and chest as well.
My routine for the week is :
Snail mucin essence, halyuronic acid based cream then depending on the need salicylic acid+ niacinamide 10 percent OR a gentle retinoid based moisturiser OR tretinoin 0.025. I also use barrier repairing ceremide based moisturisers.
So don't be nervous, just use it sparingly, use the sandwich method, invest in a sunscreen stick to reapply SPF.. Use a lot of sunscreen the next day. Try to use it once a week for an year if you don't have glaring skin issues and are looking for just an anti ageing routine. Otherwise you can go upto twice a week after your skin is acclimated to the product.
Good luck :)
