Things To Learn From Murder Mysteries
Never blackmail someone you have evidence just MURDERED SOMEONE. You’re now a threat to someone who is a murderer. They have already determined that murder is a viable way to solve problems, and you have just given them a new problem to solve.
If you’re going to turn someone in for a life-altering offense, don’t stand there and tell them you will do it while you’re on the phone/gathering your evidence/etc. Also, don’t turn your BACK on them, good GRAVY.
If you have evidence that someone might be a murderer, maybe don’t go and check it out BY YOURSELF, WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE, and/or WITHOUT A WEAPON. I challenge anyone to find as many as ten Amateur Detective movies on Hallmark where the climax DOESN’T involve the Amateur Detective getting caught alone by the murderer because they just HAD to go investigate a lead.
If you’re in the middle of investigating a violent crime and some random, attractive new person in town starts coming on to you, you should be Very Suspicious. I’m not saying they’re definitely the killer, but maybe wait until the investigation is very firmly closed before scheduling a romantic dinner. (Sometimes even then it might be good to wait a week or two.)

Gilded Newport Mysteries - Murder at the Breakers - Hallmark, 2024
Hallmark has lost their minds. This was so bad I'm not sure where to begin. There's the playing fast & loose with the 1895 era. So out of it that it was unbelievable from the start. Good grief, there were so many errors and outright falsehoods that it was distracting. Then we get to the murder, it could have been better but the real problem comes with the language, the words used. It's 1895 not 2024, they didn't try. If anyone in this movie ever had an acting job before it doesn't show. If they're not wooden they're overacting. I can't tell you "who done it" because I turned it off. I wish I could find something nice to say but I didn't like the costumes so I'm out of ideas. I hope this isn't picked up as a series but given the other bad reviews I've read I sincerely doubt it.

I think there is a hilarious untapped horror potential in the fact that hallmark reuses a lot of the same actors in their mystery/romance/christmas movies. think of that fucking time loop. I have no real concrete thoughts here I just giggle every time I think about it

okay, so we all know the formulaic plot that every hallmark movie has.
Lady From The Big City winds up in a small town and, at first, can’t wait to leave, but slowly starts to enjoy their time there. They realize that there’s more important things in life than just wealth and success, and that they’re starting to fall in love with this small town (and the people in it). Briefly in the story, it seems as though Lady From The Big City is going back to their old life, leaving their new friends and love interest feeling abandoned, but they eventually decide to come back to the small town and stay for good.
Replace “Lady From The Big City” with “Lightning McQueen”, and you have the plot of the 2006 Pixar Film Cars.

Okay, Ali Skovbye is acting in a Gilded Age mystery series on Hallmark in February. For you Oncers out there, she was Grace/Paige, daughter of Jefferson. Her older sister Tiera played Margot/Robin.
I thought lovers of The Gilded Age might also be interested- since our show won't be back until later this year. Takes place in Newport - one of the society places Bertha Russell is obsessed with.
I'm curious...

Mystery on Mistletoe Lane (Hallmark movie) review
I love a good mystery movie with a well written storyline! This is a Hallmark Movies & Mystery Christmas movie which premiered Dec 2023. Filled with mystery, clues, romance and and obsession with Christmas. Upon taking a new job and moving to a new town, Heidi Wicks (Erica Cerra) and her kids discover a mystery in their new historic home (Mistletoe Manor). A local handyman David (Victor Webster) connects with Heidi and her kids to find his own connection to the historic house as he helps them solve the mystery. The movie is set during the holidays, Christmas time and Heidi's new home reveals a very special story. The house is full of riddles and clues to solve. Lots of hiding places. Who better to solve the mystery than Heidi's kids? They set out to find all the reindeers and riddles to solve the story behind Mistletoe Manor. Along the way, Heidi's kids get help from a special guest to help finish the last few riddles. They're getting so close to cracking this case. hahahaha After a divorce, will Heidi find a new romance? With their new discovery, Heidi believes this is just what the town needs to come together again. If you like finding clues and solving riddles and mysteries, then his movie is for you! And the movie is set during Christmas time. What more can I say - lol Heidi's kids are the real MVPs in this movie. They were not happy about the move, but the mystery of their new home kept them so busy that they forgot about being upset about the move. The sister and brother duo worked well together to unravel all the clues and riddles. One of the best Christmas mystery movies from Hallmark in my opinion. If you want to know what the mystery is and how David is connected to the historic home, you'll have to watch -as I wont reveal any spoilers---this time! I give this movie 4 out 5 stars for a well written storyline. I think the writers could have made the connecting dots a little harder for viewers to solve. However, still a great movie!
