Do you have any WNBA pod recs? I usually just do twitter and tumblr but I love listening to pods when I work out and I feel like a lot of the sports ones are either to focused on mens or its like all womens sports and not just basketball
Ooh I'm glad you asked! There are tons of great pods.
I recently discovered a new one called Let The Girls Play. I know it sounds very generic. But it's hosted by two female comedians in NYC and they're pretty fun to listen to. Definite Liberty bias but they cover the whole league
There's LaChina's podcast Around The Rim which covers everything WBB. And she's smart and knows everything about everything
Kate Fagan and Jessica Smetana have Off The Looking Glass. If you like Kate's sports writing you'll like this podcast. Interesting stories and perspectives
Sometimes I Hoop is hosted by Haley Jones and it has great interviews
Go back and listen to all of A'ja and Napheesa's podcast. Tea With A and Phee. It was so brilliant. I just want it back... Will they ever give me another episode??? I need them to make an Olympics episode on the USA plane or something
And tons of players have started podcasts with like only 2 or 3 episodes

When she’s not suiting up, you can still expect to see Jones talking all things basketball on her podcast Sometimes I Hoop. One of the only female-first athlete-to-athlete programs, Jones has welcomed the likes of Clark, Flau’jae Johnson, Aliyah Boston, Hailey Van Lith, Aaliyah Edwards, Natasha Cloud, and more to the show. A project of hers since college, Jones opened up about how she worked alongside The Players’ Tribune to develop the podcast. “I feel like I can relate to them differently than reporters. I either have a personal connection with these people or have played against them, so there are plenty of things for us to discuss. I think the most important thing to me is just being able to grow women’s basketball,” said the California native. “I feel so many men’s basketball players have podcasts where they can freely talk. but there aren’t that many player-driven women’s basketball ones. I know these players’ stories and relate to some of them. Having a show centered on women’s basketball just gives fans more reason to want to watch our games and follow these athletes.” Jones has a point. Lately, we’ve seen a rapid rise and consequential success of current or retired women athletes in media. For those still playing, the option to hoop overseas is no longer the sole decision to earn offseason income. Through analyst roles, a podcast, or other broadcast mediums, athletes we’ve grown to appreciate on the hardwood are dropping gems on what it’s really like to play to a dedicated audience hanging onto every word.

2023 WNBA draft fallers
1. Ashley Owusu (G)- Virginia Tech
Tumblr media
Owusu started the season in the starting lineup, but in December she was out for several weeks with a pinky injury. Since then she hasn't been able to work her way back into the rotation and play consistent minutes. She was a healthy DNP in the ACC tournament. This is certainly not what she had envisioned when she transferred from Maryland, where she won the Ann Myers-Drysdale award her sophomore season. She has also said she is not going to use her extra year of eligibility, and will be going pro.
2. Aijha Blackwell (F)- Baylor
Tumblr media
Blackwell was Missouri's leading scorer and rebounder last season when she decided to transfer to Baylor. However, she has only played in 8 games this season due to a leg injury. She has an extra year of eligibility, but it is unknown whether she is going to use it.
3. Haley Jones (F)- Stanford
Tumblr media
So hear me out... at the end of last season Jones was considered by most the #2 overall pick behind Aliyah Boston. I think most people would have expected to see a bigger jump in Jones's stats. This season she is averaging 13.4 ppg 9.1 rpg 4.1 apg 1.0 bpg. Compare that to last season: 13.2 ppg 7.9 rpg 3.7 asp 1.1 bpg. Add to this the fact that she is shooting 9.7% from 3PT this season! That's not something WNBA teams like to see from a wing player. As a #2 pick teams are looking for someone to make an immediate impact. However, I do believe Jones has a lot of qualities and talents that don't show up in the stat sheet. She is a good decision maker and can step up when her team needs her to score. A good thing for Jones is she has been relatively injury free in her collegiate career, outside of her freshman season, and that can't be said for who many think will be the #2 pick: Diamond Miller
