Rowan had even given some helpful pointers to the actors, which had really gotten people excited at Odeon. So there was also, on this call, once again the suggestion that maybe Rowan could do a special of his own at some point. Something to show off his acting chops.

Rowan wasn't certain he was all that good (despite Max and others saying yes, he was). More importantly, him being able to put on a role and act his way out of something was almost like a secret weapon. Like something he should keep under wraps, in case he needed to use it again. Not display it for all to know about.

That was probably a very silly way to look at it, he told himself. He was, currently, possibly the most well-known man in the colony, on par with Minister Clarke. (Halcyon Helen was the most well-known woman.)

WIP Wednesday

A little late but thanks for the tag @clonesupport @the-lastcall and @funkypoacher !! Immediately had a story idea for the Yeehawgust prompts so here’s a little snippet from that :) shoutout to @kourumi for letting me write in their western au story <3! 

A little context: Helen is Felix’s horse (yes I had him name her after Halcyon Helen).

Jumping over a small stream, Felix kept an eye out for the vagabonds that could have taken Rhea. The desert wasn’t a kind place for anyone, outlaws, marauders, or a schoolmarm. It was a lawless, kill or be killed landscape, one that had tried to do just that, and he came out alive. He wasn’t going to let it, or some outlaws, take her.

His thoughts turned to the men who did this and all matter of ways he was going to deal with them if they laid a hand on Rhea.

The sun was high in the sky by the time Helen started to slow down. She was moving her head to look around.

“Do you see something,” he asked her, leaning forward to stroke her neck. Helen whinnied and turned them through what looked like a large bramble of trees. “I don’t think—”

But as he spoke, Helen turned and he saw what looked like a small path through the trees leading to a large collection of rocks.

“Damn, good job.” Felix said in awe. He jumped off his horse and pulled out an apple to feed her as a treat. “You stay here and I’ll go find Rhea.”

Helen gave him the most indignant look a horse could give, which made Felix smile, but he stood his ground.

“There is no way you can fit in there and I don’t need my favorite girl getting injured while I try to save the other.” Helen nuzzled him and let out a huff of hot air against his face. “Good. I’ll be back, don’t you worry.”

Felix patted her muzzle and turned, making his way down the makeshift path. How she had found it was beyond him, but he was never one to question the good luck Helen had brought him.
