Oh and also, I forgot to mention. Remember how some time ago Lily said that in TSR Rey will commit suicide after Aliana's death? Well it seems that Mikaila also supports this writing choice! At the end of Bingo Love one of the main characters seems to being unable to live without her wife so she dies with her. And Mikaila try to defend it saying how romantic it is and that «they were old anyway lol»

these women call themselves leftist? they better pray that when they reach that age, if they're lucky to do so, they won't have some young person telling them they should just drop dead already. i thought too that it was a major sin to write any queer character dying at all. unless they commit suicide for their lover apparently! i haven't read that comic but did the character died of natural causes shortly after their partner did or killed themselves? or MO doesn't clarify either? those are two very different outcomes and either way it should be tragic before anything else. i can understand if they actually like romantic tragedies as just a personal preference because they can be cathartic to read about. there's a reason why plays like Hadestowm that are about a tragedy are still interesting for people. but there's a subtle implication there that this should be the only response to a love one dying, there's no other choice, and that is a problem.

Orphydice head canons

here’s some orphydice head canons i wrote in europe cause hadestown is all i think about

- eurydice is a big reader. it was her escape when she was younger and when ever times got especially rough

- she would typically keep a book or two in her bag at all times and when she was done reading them she would trade them in for a new one

- going on that once orpheus finds this out he asks her to read to him and it quickly becomes on of their favorite things to do together

- orpheus loves buying books he thinks eurydice will like and over time they acquire enough to have a little mini library corner

- orpheus is also the type of person to give random compliments

- like they’ll just be walking and he’ll be like “you are so beautiful” and eurydice will just blush and mumble thank you and continue their conversation

- orpheus also DEFINITELY creates a drink named after and inspired by eurydice

- something strong probably with coffee or mint

- it’s actually really delicious and people love it and it becomes a special

- eurydice gets really flustered when she hears people ordering it

- orpheus just thinks it’s adorable

- eurydice also gets a job at the bar cause i mean she’s already there all the time any way they might as well hire her

- eurydice steals all the blankets in her sleep

- many a time has orpheus woken up freezing and has had to pry the blankets out of her hands

- this usually results in her grabbing onto orpheus instead which hey he is not complaining about

- they’re kinda famous after they make it back (fuck canon)

- sometimes people will recognize them and come up and ask them about their experience

- it’s sometimes inspiring but can also be very triggering and uncomfortable but they always try and be polite

- one time when they approached by a little girl who asked orpheus to teach her to sing the special song for her mom cause she loves her so much and wants to sing her the “love song that saved the world”

- orpheus heart instantly melts and he instantly is willing

- he teaches her the la la las and she hugs him

- she notices eurydice too and asks is she was if she was the girl he loved so much he saved the world for

- eurydice just nods at her cause wow she was not expecting to get this emotional today

- the little girl runs off and they both kinda stand there just,,, awestruck for a moment

- it really sticks with them and orpheus likes to remind eurydice that he really loves her enough to “save the world for”

- and eurydice always responds that she would save the world right back

i definitely have more of these so watch out cause i love our two resident love birds

I saw the national tour of Hadestown while they were in DC! Here's some notes I took about it right after the performance:

- at the very end, in "Road to Hell (reprise) when Eurydice is kneeling and lighting the candle, and Hermes is singing about doing it again, he takes her hand and she rests her head against it while he sings.

-orpheus walks on the tables when he sings the first bits of his special song. The ensemble literally assembles and dissembles a path out of them. This comes right after Hermes says "he's touched by the gods". So this is him using his gifts from the side of his heritage, and thus getting closer to the gods.

-hermes gently encourages him from the side, usually gesturing.

-eurydice reveals her dress in a sexy way when she says "take me home" in the song where Orpehus is trying to flirt with her.

-at the beginning of the last song, Hermes sounds extremely choked up, to the point of not being able to sing. He is off to the side for most of the second act, and is often being good friends with persephone in the background. (Pouring each other's wine, looking at each other, laughing together)

-eurydice joins the workers/ensemble for most of second act, and in "doubt comes in" the workers are in a chain starting with Eurydice, their hand holding on to the person's shoulder in front of them

-speaking of "doubt comes in" you literally can't see or hear them in Orpheus's parts. You know they are there, and when they sing they are illuminated brightly, but like Orpheus, you begin to doubt yourself

-orpheus in "wait for me (reprise)" looks panicked and frightened, (hell Orpheus is extremely scared for most of the last songs). While he's walking he looks like he is pulling hard against something, like it takes extreme effort to keep going forward.

-orpehus is very hesitant and weak when he first sings epic lll, but as the song goes on he gets more confident

-song after epic lll (or before???) has a TON going on. Orpheus stands behind Eurydice, his arms tight around her. When Hades gets pissed and comes near them Orpheus holds on tighter and flinches away while Eurydice raised her fists at him the first time, tried to cover Orpheus the second time and clung to him otherwise.

-epic lll When Hades sings la la la Persephone stands in front of him, crying, holding her hands out to him. When he responds again with Orpheus leading him, Hades gently grabs her hands. After their dance they hug tightly for the rest of the next song.

-in Epic ll the light comes to shine upon Orpheus so he looks like a star

-the first time hades shows up to take persephone, Orpheus and eurydice are spooning/lying together in front of them, its really cute.

-in the song where Hades is heckling Orpheus the lights get so bright when he mentions the electric city that you can't look at it.

- the fates are the wind and they are the industrial noises of hadestowm sometimes. They boop hades nose.

-persephone boops eurydice's nose once

-they sing "he kiss the riot" after the bows. Orpheus does not sing after doubt comes in. At first he just collapsed in absolute shock, staying while they begin road to hell reprise, before exiting completely, and comes back later with a banjo (or a guitar?) But he does not speak one word.

-"its you." "Its me" "orpehus?" "Eurydice-" (ik this is the soundtrack but their fucking faces. Oh fuck oh god.)

-when the workers are attacking Orpheus they literally hold him down. He is absolutely terrified of hades.

-several times the workers orbit Persephone, even when she has no lines or role in a song. She looks awfully sad at eurydice a lot

-eurydice is t i n y.

-theres this one giant ensemble member and you could tell when he was singing cause he is so fucking low

- one of the ensemble (one with a nose ring?) Had a little shimmy when he went up to the front to introduce himself both times, it was great.

-the stage has this super cool opening and closing door thing????

okay hi??? thank u for appreciating the space nerds????? i just love em a lot ok me al and rai worked really hard on the nasa au (we did not. we talked about it for like an hour and half of it was specs committing race slander but it's honest work)

alright to it’s time to ✨share the thoughts with the class✨ cause there’s a lot of them

- so,,,, nasa hasn’t exactly figured out intergalactic cell phones yet, obviously, but because they both work at the same place (in almost the same job, albert just goes into the field and race works from the office, so to speak) albert can send little video diaries for race and race can send little home updates for al so they’re not COMPLETELY out of the loop when they see eachother again

- the same way that albert seemingly doesn’t understand basic geography, race shows al a picture of him and the night when he finally comes home like “babe i think you blinked” and albert’s brain full of constellation knowledge just short circuits like “i- that’s the big dipper wha- wrong side of the planet hon 🤚” like he didn’t JUST send picture of him and africa like ‘your hair looks weird in this one’ dhshdhd

- as we’ve mentioned, they’re disgustingly cute. every person not in a relationship of some kind vaguely avoids them for at least a week after al gets home cause they’re just SO mushy. luckily most of their friend group is either ace/aro or in a relationship so it’s not too bad, but even they can’t always handle the ridiculousness that IS ralbert right after al gets back

- albert was interviewed by some fancy magazine because,,,, hes an astronaut, hello??? and the whole thing was basically just him rambling about race. he mentions him no less than 12 times, goes on a tangent about how they both work at nasa but have been together since way before that, and generally just how in love with him he is. the headline is something super gross and annoying about al being the first openly gay astronaut and al acts like he didn’t know what happened but specs was in the room and he’s like “👁👄👁 you talked about actually BEING an astronaut for 5 minutes before you got sidetracked by the idea of race’s face.”

- race still gets his work done, but specs is honestly impressed by race’s ability to just,,,,, miss his boyfriend for 6 months every year. for the first month or so he’s nearly inconsolable but throws himself into his work, even if it’s not as well done as when al is home. and then he’s just vaguely sulky for the next 4 months, and only gets super race-like and energetic when he gets video diaries from albert. and for the last month he straight up doesn’t sleep for most of it cause he’s too excited for al to be home but also so DONE with waiting to see him again. he’s an extrovert and has been around albert almost his entire life, he genuinely isn’t the same when he’s not around.

- race is in albert’s phone as ‘my home’ and albert is in race phone as ‘my star’ and i hate them both in the most loving way possible. also as much shit as they gave the other for those pictures, al’s lockscreen is still race and the big dipper, and race’s is still albert and africa.

i think that’s all i got for them for now, but i’ll probably think up some other things about these guys at some point cause i just,,,,,, adore them. thank you so much for like,,,, creating this and asking me to share my thoughts cause i love them and have many thoughts about stuff like this all the time ✨
