Strong for Someone Else Pt.1

She only had a little farther to go. One elevator ride. A few more steps. She could picture it, she just needs to get there and then she can close her eyes. The darkness haloed around her vision, a tunnel closing in on her.

Almost there.

She feels the elevator lurch to a stop, an ear splitting sound that was probably not even loud but made her flinch, the doors sliding open. It took an incredible effort to pull away from the cold steel wall that was holding her upright.

Almost there.

The warm snake of blood made its long journey down a scorching pathway of her exposed back.

Her feet were barely holding her upright anymore as every step she took almost made her cry out trying to make it to her destination.

She knows why she was unceremoniously dropped on the cracked concrete steps of this particular building. She knows she is a bomb. Not a real one by any means, unless her brother had more up his sleeve. No, she was an emotional bomb, the shrapnel rigged to explode as soon as she made it to them—to her. But right now she couldn’t seem to care that Lex was once again using her. She just needs Kara.

Almost there.

The door was just ahead of her as she gripped the hallway with all her might as she used the sturdy walls as a crutch. The bloody smears she was leaving in her wake adorning the off-white walls like a trail of breadcrumbs back—back to where her brother had once again tried to destroy her. Maybe ‘tried’ is no longer applicable here.

Not after today.

Not after…

Her last few steps seem to feel longer than every previous step combined. Heavy. Everything was heavy. She was beginning to slide into the darkness that was waiting in the depths to consume her. Her chest was on fire with every heaved breath.

Last step.

She could hear the lively commotion of Friday night game night even though the sounds sounded like they were underwater. Or was she underwater? Still?

She couldn’t tell anymore. The cold wet strands of her hair laid limply against her equally frigid skin as a reminder.

As she reached out for her favorite door a whimper escaped her lips bloody, swollen and bruised. She let it’s wooden structure catch her as if it had arms to reach out for her.

She held onto it, her bloody forehead falling forward against its cool wood. She could feel a tear pool on her lashes and fall away—even its weight she couldn’t carry.

Her hands were stained red and bracketing her head, unfurled fingers outstretched in a type of surrender.

What she was surrendering to she didn’t know.

Was there anything left of her broken body to surrender?

Was she late to game night? Kara was probably texting her to see if she lost track of time working on her latest aquifer project. Kara cajoling her to leave the rest for tomorrow, that it would be there in the morning.

She imagined the adorable wording and string of emojis she always received when she was late for game night with her friends. The offer to fly and pick her up would usually come after the emojis that sent her heart fluttering, “what’s the fun if you can’t use Air-Kara every now and again, Lena!” She felt herself smile at the memory. She let another small whimper as even smiling was painful now.

She knew she was going to taint this event—game night is sacred—possibly for all time but it was too late, Lex had won this time.

Her standing here broken was his victory lap.

Hot take on L

I've seen a lot of Tumblr posts floating around that seem to be of the same opinion, and that is that L doesn't care about morals. He only cares about the thrill of the chase, which is why he is so determined to catch Kira, for his own reputation and enjoyment - in other words, for selfish reasons. A lot of these same posts convey scenarios where L would join Kira in a heartbeat, if given the chance.

While I agree on some of this, I truly don't believe L's code of justice is so warped that he would JOIN Kira/Light in his cause. I seriously don't agree that this could ever happen. While L has some selfish motives for pursuing the case (which is plainly obvious), he does care about the true meaning of justice, and what his version of it is. There are some holes in this that you could go into a real debate about, such as L telling Kira that murdering criminals is evil, and yet he would be content arresting Light and sending him to a death sentence if necessary.

But I think, above all, if L were to abandon everything he'd been fighting for during the entire series and join Kira's cause without hesitation, then it wouldn't feel like the same character at all. His main conflict would be over his relationship and similarities with Light himself, and how he wouldn't want to lose the one person who is more like him than anyone else, at least in terms of intellect. That's the real conflict for me - not over Kira or justice. When it comes to ideas of justice, Light and L are poles apart. That's what makes their dynamic so interesting.

one of the things "progressives" do is simply refuse to learn more about certain non-mainstream concepts because that would mean they actually have to put effort into their activism rather than just shutting down/ridiculing the people advocating for them. they do this for landback, they do this with neopronouns, they do this whenever someone challenges the idea that countries that are targets of the US state department's propaganda may not actually be 100% evil dystopian hellscapes, the list literally goes on

i lied. i dont actually like sex. put your clothes back on. im going to explain to you how one weird little kid changed the lives of tons of people for the better and at the end of of the series everyone he's helped and changed comes back to help him and return the favor. Let me explain to you the parallels between each of their arcs with the last few episodes. Let me tell you about how his brother finally realizes that it was all him. Every part of that kid is him and they all need to learn to live with it and accept and love him and help him not repress himself because that's what caused the problem in the

first place. Let me rant about how his friend/one-sided rival uses what he said when they first met back to him. (about not using powers to hurt other people) Let me scream about how the friend's first fight with him and last fight are direct parallels. Let me scream about how he shows how much that boy has changed him by opting to protect civilians instead of himself. I'm going to tell you about how after the former terrorist he saved finally realizes that instead of sacrificing himself to save the city he should survive and be there for his son and try to make amends and continue to be better. Let me talk about how even though the people he works out with KNOW that really they're no match for him and they don't really know what's going on, they still try to help him anyways. Because they're friends. That's what friends do and they love him. They just want to support him in every way they can. Let me scream and cry about how his mentor, the man he's known the longest, the man he trusts the most in the world finally admits that he lied to him and he's been lying to him and he finally tells the truth and that's exactly what that boy needs. He needed the truth. It shocked him back to reality, and everyone he's talked to up until that point, INCLUDING HIMSELF, shows him that everyone loves him, and they all accept him, the only problem is that he's unable to accept himself. He's been refusing to forgive himself since he was a little kid for something he didn't even mean to do, and he's been repressing and hiding important parts of himself because he's afraid. And he doesn't need to be afraid because he has people that are there for him and they all love him. LET ME THROW THE BIGGEST FIT YOUVE EVER SEEN WHILE I EXPLAIN TO YOU JUST HOW IMPORTANT THAT TALK BETWEEN HIM AND THE PART OF HIMSELF HES BEEN TRYINF TO REPRESS IS AND HOW MUCH IT CHANGED HIM. HE FINALLY ACCEPTS HIMSELF FOR WHO HE IS AND HES FINALLY ABLE TO FORGIVE HIMSELF AND MOVE ON AND GROW
