For the directors cut ask: do you remember writing not born, but raised? You captured Guzman‘s feelings after Marina‘s death so vividly. Chapter 8 was heartbreaking to me and I’d love to hear anything you have to say about it. Bonus: how you would have written Guzman‘s thoughts/feelings towards Lu at the beginning of season two (you know me 😅)

Apologies for the essay response, but if there's anyone I can respond with loads of words about Elite to, it's you.

I've always used novelizations as a writing practice (it really helps me with body language since I can't visualize), but this was the first time I ever showed anyone. Getting into Guzman's head was everything for me, and I knew if there's anything this boy does, it's deny, deny, deny. And Miguel did such a perfect denial in his first reaction to Marina's death, that I just had to extend it. Listening to the cast reading of the finale was also incredible help, the actors were so attached to their characters! Maria's reaction to Guzman's line of "Because you know if something happens to them, maybe they had it coming.” made me know that had to be such an important line for him. It had to haunt him.

The trickiest thing to me was actually piecing together those interrogation scenes into something reasonable, like an actual flow of conversation. Cause I had transcribed that the whole season long and I rearranged that conversation so many ways to try and make it make sense.

And I do know you! And just to answer your question, I'll give you the opening lines I wrote for the season 2 novelization.

In the rules of geometry, the strongest structures have three sides. In the realm of grief, however, it seems that these rules don’t apply. His parents find support in each other, if not comfort. None of them will ever find comfort again. But the balance of their family, two parents, two children, is disrupted, and they don’t know how to support him. Lu tries. They have sex that’s supposed to remind him that he’s alive, or at the very least wants to be. She holds him when he ultimately breaks down in his sleep, the thought of Marina’s misshapen head too much for him to bear. For most of the summer, he drinks, though Lu pulls the bottle away from him whenever she can. For that, he loves and hates her hands in equal measure.

So there you have it! Lu and Guzman's relationship is really messy in that I think they are very complacent when they are with each other. Lu is very complicated and smart (I know you know that), but when it comes to trying to get someone to not do something, she tends to stick to her one strategy, verbally lashing out. And while I love the zingers, it's not the best way to get into Guzman's head (since that is also his strategy). So to me, he's grateful to her, he owes his life to her, but I think he ends up resenting her on two opposing fronts- on the one hand, keeping him from the self-destruction he desires, on the other, not being effective enough to actually keep him from that self-destruction.

I actually have episodes/chapters 1 and 2 written out, but I wasn't sure whether I should post it when I'm not sure I can finish the season and the fandom seems pretty dead (let me know if you're still interested lol). But if you wanna see more of Guzman grieving Marina, I have some tearjerkers in there, if I do say so myself.

We deserved more of Lu and Guzman’s friendship on the show, and I really enjoyed writing it for this. So before the end, here it’s front and center one last time.

Lu was determined to get to the bottom of why Guzman was so fidgety and distracted today.

"How's Nadia? Everything good with you two?"

Any other day, Guzman would have called her out for her complete lack of subtlety. Now he just kept playing with something in his jeans pocket, his gaze a thousand miles away.

"Hello! Guzman!" She didn't do well with being ignored.

"Sorry." His attempt at a smile was pitiful. He was practically vibrating with nerves. "Sorry, I- what were you saying?"

Lu's eyebrows drew together. "What is going on with you? This going for a walk thing is supposed to be relaxing. Or so I've heard. You look like you're facing an audit."

That got a real scoff out of him. He still didn't say anything though. Lu sighed and tossed her empty cup into a trashcan by the side of the path. She had just caught up with him when he ran a hand through his hair and turned to look at her.

"Actually there's … I have to ask you a question."

Here we go. In a feat she was proud of, Lu managed to stay silent, keeping her eyes on Guzman's face.

"Ok. Ok, I'll just…" He exhaled with a nervous laugh, then reached into his pocket and pressed a small velvet box into her hands.

With Guzman's expectant eyes on her, Lu opened the box – and was blinded by the diamond ring inside.

"Wha-" The confusion was making her brain sluggish. Later that would be what she blamed for not catching on right away. Now, she tore her eyes away from the ring in her hand and stared at the man in front of her.

"Guzman, what the fuck?"

Elite S5 and S6 thoughts... 💭

Guznadia remains my top #Elite ship after watching Elite S5 + S6 recently. (Je refuse regarder S4 avec Guzman mais sans Nadia plus on m'a dit que c'était ennuyeux). I also missed Ander. Meh on Omar cause I could never forget & forgive how he disrespected Nadia re: Malik with no remorse. Meh on Samu. Yes on Rebe. Yes on Patrick. Hmmm on Ari. Eh on Mencia.

After watching Elite 5 + Elite 6 recently, I'm digging Patrick/Ivan & Ari/Nico. Not a shipper (yet?) of either pairing but they're the most interesting of those 2 seasons.

I like Didac & Rocio (We need Elite to give Rocio a man who doesn't hate Black women as trash ass Bilal does 😤). Isa is ok.

I honestly was uninterested by most of S5 that didn’t revolve around Ari/Ivan/Patrick/Cruz so I started skipping over things not part of that 4some by the end of ep 3.

Cruz's death in Elite S6 hit harder after I went back and finally watched Elite S5 Ari/Ivan/Patrick/Cruz storyline. Cruz was messy AF for getting involved with the boy his son is in love with but he did try to rectify things (tho Cruz slipped up in S6 by kissing Patrick ). It was a horrible to watch his death.

It took him long enough to actually start dating you.

Eventually you get sick of hiding and you get into an argument.

So his family won't find out.

If you go to different schools you both snick in the middle of the day to meet halfway and smoke

Sometimes you get in trouble cause you arrive late to class

You love making jokes about samu and Nadia, how they're both with the rich kids they used to make fun of.

ANDER

He really doesn't care

Neither does his mom

You practically live with them

She really adores you.

You always go clubbing together, and Guzman really likes you

You make him happy and encourage him to send you to his father

Ander, unlike Guzman, doesn't buy you expensive shit.

He understands it makes you feel weird and respects it.

POLO

It took him time to accept it

He did grow up rich and IS rich

But with that character development I believe he'll be completely ok with it

His moms obviously dgaf about you being a guy, but the fact that you're not rich?

They'll accept it eventually too

He brings you to every event

He takes big pride in you, and if you have a school dance or something he'll absolutely go with you

He likes buying you stuff, but you made a deal it won't be too often or too expensive.

He even picks you up from school sometimes.

PATRICK

He doesn't care, but he does use it as a rebellious act towards his father

He invites you to his house constantly.

Doesn't buy you things, but he does pay for dinner, clubs, drinks etc..

He's afraid you're with him only for his money

He has some trust issues

So he pushes you away.

But you're stubborn and don't give up easily

You constantly have to reassure him you live him and he deserves happiness

IVAN

He honestly doesn't even thinks about that sort of things

He likes you because of you, not your money.

After his dad accepts himself he's very chill with you,

If you like football you're his new best friend.

Ivan prefers staying at your house, to escape all that partying his dad does.

He likes your house, it's small and cozy, and quiet.

He sometimes wishes he was normal like you, not famous dad, no too much money on his hands, but you have to remind him that he's very privileged and he needs to appreciate.

Doesn't like showing up at your school, there are a lot of fans and he doesn't like the attention

VALERIO

Totally ok with it.

Likes to shove your relationship to his dad

He's very handsy with you no matter where or who you're with

Takes you to every club known to men

Buys you so many drinks

Treats you like a prince

If someone says something about you he's already there kicking their ass

He likes randomly showing up to your classes and getting you in trouble so he can have more time with you

BILAL

Doesn't give two shits

He wasn't interested in your money status before and does not now

He even feels more at ease with you because he's surrounded with a lot of rich people, and you make him feel equal
