Culpa Mía (My fault)
I know there are so many wrong things in this story, but I needed it at the right time and at the right moment.
It’s a feel good movie. A guilty pleasure.
The two protagonist are damn hot. They are a pleasure for the eyes.
And yes, Nick is handsome and beautiful.
Aren’t they supposed to be at school, because there’s a single picture of them there.
Go watch it (oh and Spanish please, because it was terrible in English).

Opinions/Thoughts on Sound of Music and Music Man specifically?
(asking because my fiance hasn't seen either and I am planning on forcing him to watch both with me. I grew up watching them yearly as a choir/theater kid)
I have not seen Music Man, but god, I love musicals, so I just might check it out now.
I have seen Sound of Music, though, and while I fully admit it's saccharine and mawkish and maudlin, I still like it.
It's just old-world charming. I know Christopher Plummer hated it, and for good reason, it was his generation's Frozen, but...I don't know. The music doth slap. Julie Andrews is a delight. I find the anti-Nazism in Austria plot to be compelling.
The only song I don't like is the Goatherd song, but mostly because the puppets scared me as a child, and the song is forever linked to my childhood trauma.
I also think that particular song is obnoxious, and I'll hear that fucking goat yodeling in my specifically tailored cell in hell.
But every other song is good!
Controversial opinion time, but...my favorite song from the whole movie is "Edelweiss."
I know most people don't like it, but...I think it's a real crooner. Let me croon Edelweiss all night.
I also like "Climb Every Mountain" which I know a lot of people hate, but. Come on, it builds!!
Maybe I just like crooning, I don't know. But all the songs are good. It's worth a watch, and I hope he enjoys it!

There's a really cool fanmade found-footage style video about Godzilla(s) Vs the Gryphon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baMFh69gp98
Would be awesome if they include Zilla like this in the newer Godzilla movies, but that's probably never gonna happen
ooo definitely watching that!!! would kill for like. a cloverfield-style goji film.
as crappy as the 98 film is, there was some good ideas that came out of it!!! most though came from the tie in show. i’ve seen a few episodes and it’s solid, plus it had a bunch of mutated creatures that would probably never really be considered for any future godzilla films, so the gryphon could’ve definitely been a possible inclusion of it went on longer. it was just neat too—seeing how the nuclear stuff impacted other animals. yeah some kaiju are just big animals and heck maybe monsterverse would do it (skull island looking at you) but the dude got a girlfriend and everything.
thought you’re right about that probably not happening. with where the monsterverse is heading despite having a lot more big animal kaiju they tend to be a lot more alien, we haven’t gotten many films on the japanese side and they tend to be just the political stuff, and though we haven’t seen the griffon in action in any official media, it may be seen as “too bland” in design to be used. the reputation that era got doesn’t help at all either :(
it’s interesting to think about. monsterverse is really loyal to a lot of the older films so we need some unused kaiju to come back in. or more random alien races or cyborg women falling in love with humans. gotta get crazy with it.

George of the Jungle (1997, dir. Sam Weisman)
The first week of a year still counts as holiday time, right? So I wanted my second movie of this year to be a quite classic guilty pleasure (even though I don't think someone has to feel guilty about liking a movie).
So here is No. 2, George of the Jungle!
Why has no one told me about how well this movie aged? At first I couldn't decide whether i'd like to use this gif or one of George's sexy smexy little dance in Ursula's dress.
Honestly, as much as I adore Brendan Fraser it is truly a shame I didn't watch this movie earlier. It feels ridiculous to try writing anything about it, there are various amazing posts analyzing how this movie doen't look down on its female lead and how its a prime example for a reversing of the male gaze. Just imagine I wrote down some intelligent stuff here.
So off to the next one.

I don’t really believe in the concept of “guilty pleasures” (because why feel guilty for liking something that doesn’t harm anyone?) but if I had to choose, mine would be watching film and tv reactions on youtube. It’s a great way to remember and enjoy the plot without having to rewatch the whole thing, and you can also vicariously experience watching it for the first time again through the reactors
