Dreaming Wide Awake - Ch 10

PREVIEW:

Transformed, he leapt over the rooftops until he reached their spot. Ladybug was already there, sitting, legs dangling over the edge of the building and gaze on the sky. The sun was fading fast, the view streaked with orange and pink.

She looked up, watching him settle down beside her. Watched him so hard, it was like her eyes had hands and they were pummelling him all over.

He slotted his staff back in its holder. ‘Do I have something on my nose?’

‘No, just…what happened to you today?’

His brow lifted. ‘Wow. You really don’t wait, do you.’

‘I’ve been worried about you ever since.’

His heart fluttered. ‘Y-you h-have?’

‘Of course. You’re my partner…and my…my best friend. When something’s wrong with you, something’s wrong with me.’

Best friend. Had she ever come right out and told him that before, in those words? Not that he could remember. And best friends shared things with each other…didn’t they?

She drew her knees up, hugging them to her chest. ‘When you got hit today…I haven’t seen you like that in a long time.’ Her voice was small. Afraid.

‘…you mean…you have seen me like that before?’

‘Well, sure, like that time when…you know. With…with Guiltrip.’

He blinked at her. ‘Guiltrip?’

She blinked back. ‘You don’t remember that?’

‘Of course I do, but…what about it? Did I get hit then, too?’ That was ages before his father’s death. What would he have had to feel guilty or unhappy about then?

Her face underwent the strangest transformation – like something had just occurred to her and now she was trying to think how to backtrack without him noticing. ‘Never mind. Maybe I’m just mixing things up because I’m…I’m just really shaken up today.’

A lie. She was hiding something – but what? Something terrible that had happened to him, that she wanted to protect him from?

You’ve been listening to your boss talking about his burnt foot for most of the day and how no one cares for him, boring the life out of you. He called the office in the morning asking you to pick him up after he burnt his foot on a grill he kept by his bed to ‘wake up to the smell of crackling bacon’. His words. Levi, the assistant to the regional manager, heard the commotion rushing to the rescue while screaming ‘I’M COMING ERWIN’, and jumped in his car. And in his hurried panic, crashed into a wall on his way out of the parking lot. It looked quite bad, but he didn’t have any bumps or bruises. But his behaviour got weirder and weirder as the day went. The usually diligent, no nonsense and frankly annoying Levi started to forget what he was saying and doing as he was saying and doing it. He started to daze and stare into space. And the weirdest part, he was happier, making jokes and… nice. He was nice to no one…

All up until now, when Levi drops sideways onto his desk interrupting Erwin’s guiltrip speech.

“Oh my god Levi!” colleagues get up and gather around Levi trying to support him.

“Okay, I think we need to take him to the hospital, because I’m pretty sure he has a concussion”. You say worriedly.

“Oh, so now you feel some compassion, for him”. Erwin clearly feels salty that he did not get this much attention for his grilled foot.

“Erwin, he needs to get to the hospital and you’re his emergency contact. You need to go with him.”

“Why don’t you go with him? Levi I can’t take you, I don’t have my car and yours is all broken.” Erwin retorts.

“Please, I want Erwin to take me!” Levi desperately begs, much to his boss’ dismay while you try and calm him.

“You can take my minivan. It’ll be more comfortable for him”. Sasha suggests behind you and Levi.

“Oh yeh, okay whatever, that’s great. No. That won’t work, I can’t drive because of my foot. Zeke, you’ll have to drive”.

“Fine.” Sasha throws her keys to Zeke.

“Alright big boy, let’s go”, you say, trying to sling your coworker’s arm around your shoulders.

“I don’t need the doctor Y/N. I’m humanity’s strongest!” he says while barely being able to stand straight.

You exhale trying to figure out how to reason with humanity's strongest who may or may not be currently experiencing a concussion.

“Levi”, you exhale. “C’mon, we have to go and get your head checked out. You hit it really hard.”

“It was a small bump Y/N, just relax.” He waves his hand dismissing his accident.

“Levi, you crashed your car into the damn wall in the parking lot! That wasn’t a small bump! And please, stand up!” Levi was currently trying to lay himself on the couch by your desk near the front entrance. You let go of him with a huff, causing him to face plant into the couch.

“I’m so tired. Let me take a break.” Levi groans and starts to close his eyes.

“Oh no no no, sweetie you have to stay awake for us, ok. We have to get to the hospital.” You pat his cheeks struggling to keep him up and awake.

You hear the squeak of an office chair roll behind you.

“Okay, you know what”. Zeke, who had been watching the whole ordeal with concern and slight humour, starts to feel sorry for you both (you mainly) and makes his way over. He grabs a spray bottle full of water kept for the office plants and sprays the shorter man in the face a few times.

“AHH.”

“Zeke! “ you exclaim.

“What?” the blond shrugs his shoulders.

“Time to wake up buddy. Let’s get to the elevator.” Zeke moves to help Levi up again, the task proving to be much easier for him than for you.

“You gotta stay awake for us Levi, alright.”

“Where are we going?” Levi asks confused as Zeke tries to awkwardly sling Levi’s arm over his shoulder. The height difference between the two men wasn’t helping.

“Okay let me help you Levi”. You move to take him from Zeke who goes to grab his coat.

“Y/N, try keep him awake. I’ll get the van by the entrance so he can get in easier.” Zeke leaves you to try and coax Levi to the elevator.

“Okay. C’mon Levi, let me help you. Let’s go, c’mon.”

“Okay. You’re the best Y/N.”

“Yep, thanks Levi”.

“What is that smell?” Levi lightly sniffs

“I dunno.”

“I have to go to the hospital.”

“I know.” You respond as though he's a child.

“Where are we going?”

“I’m just gonna take you downstairs to Zeke and Erwin and say bye okay. I’ll see you later.”

“But I’m coming back from… where am I going?” Levi staggers to a stop.

“I know you’ll come back, but it’ll be different.” You try getting him into the elevator.

Levi thinks for a moment as he sways into the elevator.

“What do you mean?” he questions getting slightly dizzy at the motion.

“Long story”

“Oh Y/N,” he laughs as he playfully boops your nose with his index finger. “You’re adorable”.

“Oh wow… uhm okay.” You’re taken aback by this sudden affection.

“Well thanks Levi. Okay let’s get off.”

You guide him to the front entrance of the building.

“Alright, c’mere. I’ll see you.” You gently pull him in for a hug knowing this will probably be the last time you see the nice playful Levi for... well forever.

“Okay huggy hugs. I love you Y/N.”

“Wow. Okay see ya buddy.” You laugh.

It’s been a while since Erwin and Zeke left with Levi. You couldn’t help but feel a little worried. Even if Levi wasn’t the most likeable or easiest person to deal with in the office, you still cared for him. Dare you say you considered him a friend after working with each other for the past few years.

On cue you get a call on your deskphone from Zeke.

“Hey, how’s he doing?”

“Still a little loopy. Erwin’s sitting with him in the waiting area. I dunno who’s worse right now.” Zeke groans tiredly down the phone making you lightly laugh.

“Oh and Levi is asking when you’d get here? I think he thinks you’ll be here. Or he just wants you here.”

This takes you by surprise.

“Oh. Well I mean I can come and maybe we can swap over and you can bring Erwin back.”

“Oh god no, please! I’ll send him back in a cab. I can't stay here nor there with his whiny ass!”

“Haha, alright, I’ll be there soon.”

You made your way to the hospital and found the ward Levi had been shifted to waiting for his MRI scan results.

“Oh thank god! Y/N can sit here now. I can’t breathe in here!” Erwin shoots up on his feet, including the cooked one.

“Wait! Erwin! Where are you going? Don’t leave me!” Levi was still clearly suffering from his accident.

“Oh shut up Levi. You bump your head and you become such a whiny baby”. You and Zeke look at one another not sure whether to laugh or not at your boss’ statement, considering he has been demanding attention all day from the whole office. Plus Levi is like this because of him.

“Excuse me”, a passing nurse interrupts the moment. “I’m sorry, there are too many people in here. We can only allow 2 people max.”

The desperate look on Levi's face while looking at Erwin makes you laugh and feel sorry for him, while the latter looks bored and has already used this cue to leave.

You turn to Zeke, “It’s okay, I’ll sit with him. You go and sit outside.” He smiles and nods leaving.

“Hey buddy, how are you feeling?” You ask, sitting by his bed.

“My head feels like somebody threw a boulder at it. I don’t feel so good.” He rubs his head. And it seems like he’s still suffering some amnesia as he looks at you confused.

“Hey, what are you doing here?”

“Just here to stay with you, make sure you’re okay.”

“Oh. Thanks for that Y/N.” You smile back in response and you both fall into a comfortable silence. Levi leans back slightly, careful not to lay down just yet as instructed by the nurse. He peers back at you and you meet his silver eyes.

“You alright there Levi? Need anything.”

“No, just… thank you.” He says quietly looking down at his fingers. You smile and your eyebrows slightly furrow. You’re not used to being thanked this much by him.

“You thanked me already. And I’m more than happy to be here and wait with you.” You pat his hands.

“No Y/N. I mean, it’s just… Thank you for being nice to me. You’re always nice to me.”

You stare at the side of his face not knowing what to say.

“You’re nice to me when Zeke plays his stupid pranks on me and when Erwin is mean to me and will only let me be assistant to the regional manager.” You lightly laugh at his comments as he continues.

“I know no one really likes me in the office. You’re my best friend there”. He looks at you sincerely and you feel really touched.

“Believe it or not, I do care about you.”

“Aww, Levi. That’s really sweet. I care about you too.” You reply honestly.

“You’re my best friend and I love you”

“Oh…”

“Like I can kill for you.”

“Oh, well, that’s not necessary.” You awkwardly laugh.

“Platonically of course.”

“Uh… Which part?”

“If anybody hurts you, I keep various weaponry strategically placed around the office. Like those 2 swords in the uhm… Where were they?” And the moment is gone.

“Wait what..?” Your eyes widen, knowing he most likely isn’t kidding.

“You’re a great gal Y/N.”

“Wait Levi, can you just-”

“Hi Mr Ackerman, how are you doing?”

Levi and the nurse have a brief conversation before he cries out for Erwin to join him again. You step out of the room with a small smile feeling weirdly warm after hearing those words from Levi. And slightly concerned about the swords. You’ll have to thoroughly check the office later. You bump right into Zeke who had been waiting outside the room.

“How’s he doing?” Zeke asks, pushing off the wall.

“Uhm.. yeh, good. I think. He said some nice things.”

“Oh, so still concussed then.” He laughs

“Hey!” You lightly hit his bicep laughing. “Oh but seriously, we need to check the office for unauthorised sharp objects…”

“Yup, that sounds more like Levi.” You both walk to the waiting area.

“Oh Y/N, can I tell you something?” Zeke stops walking.

“Yeh, of course.” You wait expectedly.

“Well, I just wanna say…” You nod for him to continue.

“Well. I really care about you. I love you.” You stare at him, not blinking.

“I can kill for you. Platonically.” He smirks down at you.

You clock onto him. He clearly heard yours and Levi’s conversation. “Oh very funny, ha ha. You ass.” You playfully shove him, your face heating up slightly.

He slings an arm over you. “C’mon Y/L/N, let’s get some coffee. I’ll get it for you, best friend.”

“Oh god,” you sigh and Zeke just laughs.

A few days later

You leave a bunch of flowers on Levi’s desk that the office bought for him for his first day back. He was given a few days off to rest by Erwin, much to Levi’s dismay.

You hear the door to the office open and Levi walks in hanging his jacket on the coat rack.

“Morning Levi, how are you doing?” You smile at him.

“No time for idle chit chat.” Levi walks right past you to his desk.

“What the hell are these?” He looks at the flowers distastefully.

“We thought it’d be nice after you got back out of hospital” Historia says from her desk behind him.

“Waste of time, money and space”. Levi scoffs and throws the flowers in the trash can under his desk as he settles into his chair.

“Tsk, Zeke, your craps on my side of the desk again.” Levi tuts as he proceeds to shove things off of his side of the desk with a ruler not caring that Zeke’s paperwork was now all over the floor.

Zeke sits back in his chair and watches in amusement.

“Great to have you back Levi, I missed you.” Zeke says

“Oh shut up you oversized monkey. I bet I can catch up on my work and still make more sales than you”.

Zeke looks over at you grinning and you both stifle a laugh.

Ah, that’s the Levi you know. But you also now know what a softie he actually is.

ok so i just read a bit about ur villain julieta au and I'd love to know more, please tell me all about it

ok ok so we came up with it like yesterday? 😂 basically, Mirabel is Julieta's favorite child, like, to a very extreme level. Like she's willing to hurt her other daughters if it means keeping Mirabel safe. And they have a great relationship, Mirabel trusts her a lot, and when she becomes involved with Isabela, she expresses a desire to let their mother know. Isabela has been dealing with some inc3st guilt + guilt about their age gap, and since Mirabel wants Julieta to know, she figures it'd be good to tell her. I imagine she wants either validation from a Responsible Adult™ they both trust, or to finally get a hard clear answer as to whether or not she's doing the right thing by being happy with Mirabel. She feels like she can't trust herself fully rn and deep down, she was asking her mom for help ;-; so imagine the utter betrayal and heartbreak when Julieta reacts violently. Like, very violently. I imagine she's cooking while Isabela tells her and she just... sees red... and she burns her with boiling oil. She shoves some food into her mouth immediately both to heal her and shut her up, but it's like it hit a switch in her brain, like... she knew Isabela used to be very very cruel towards Mirabel, and now she's confessing to... what? abuse her? She's hurting her baby. She uses the situation to threaten Isabela - she's still trembling in fear, crying, in pain from the just recently healed burns... and it's like Julieta's love for her vanished in an instant. Or maybe it was never there at all. Not at least when compared for her love for Mirabel - we're talking about an ant and a mountain here.

Isabela is still Alma's favorite. Julieta can't do anything without Alma getting in the way and defending Isabela unconditionally, because, in her eyes, Isabela can do no wrong, but she's hurting Julieta's baby, and Julieta may never get Isabela kicked out of town but she can keep her somewhat under control. She can withhold food and medicine, she can blackmail Isabela, she can hurt her to her heart's content and make any visible evidence disappear in an instant, she can keep her sick... it would actually have to be quite the creative work to rework the most unquestionably benign power imaginable into a villanous tool. I imagine Julieta will find a way. She's just doing everything she can to keep Isabela away from Mirabel. She threatens to hurt her if she talks to her, touches her, looks at her for too long... she doesn't allow them alone in the same room together. She shames and guiltrips Isabela constantly, feeding into her inc3st guilt and worseing her mental state. Isabela comes to believe she deserves everything her mother is doing to her. She even convinces herself that she needs it. That she's essentially bad, that it was all a performance, that she's not beautiful at all and that everyone will know what a monster she is. This is just me using Isabela as a punching bag >:3c I want to clarify that Isabela is my favorite character btw! Being a punching bag is a badge of honor. Only my favorite characters get to be abused so thoroughly :D Anyway, yeah Isabela obviously can't say a word, to neither Mirabel or anyone, about the shit Julieta is doing. She convinces her it will only hurt her and Mirabel worse if she does. Though I admit there's more threats than physical violence in this one. It really is Julieta freaking out, reacting violently, and then improvising something immediately after. Hitting Isabela without thinking and then threatening to make things worse if she dares talk to Mirabel. And that lasts for quite a bit. Isabela in this one is just a wreck, like, traumatized as fuck. She flinches when people raise their hands, she can barely eat Julieta's food even when she's allowed to because it makes her feel sick, she struggles to make eye contact, she talks less... she's always tense and anxious and irritable and even after being healed, she still feels a phantom pain of whatever Julieta did to her last time.

Obviously, she doesn't interact with Mirabel at all. She's too scared to, both of their mother and of herself. She doesn't believe she deserves Mirabel at all. And, of course, Mirabel is extremely worried. This isn't like her sister. She can tell something happened but Isabela won't open her mouth and she's growing desperate.

Of course, Isabela and Mirabel's relationship is a beautiful thing. They're perfectly good together. They're safe and happy. They'd never hurt each other. Mirabel is just this ray of sunshine in Isabela's world and even when she's too scared to talk to her again, she still thinks about her every day and can't help but feel happy when she sees her in the house, though now that feeling is accompanied by sadness, fear and shame. She feels guilty for even thinking about her these days. Though, at night, she reminisces in solitude about Mirabel sleeping with her, on her bed, just cuddling into her arms and looking so cute and small. That always made Isabela feel like she was actually good, like she was protecting her, like Mirabel felt safe with her. Now she feels guilty about that, too, but she stills hugs a pillow to her chest and pretends it's her little sister ;-;

...And of course this Julieta is very ooc 😂 but that's kinda the point, like, to drive her to her absolute limit. She's desperate and keeps crossing boundary after boundary out of love for her youngest daughter. That's also kinda the thing - Julieta doesn't care about "feeling she has power over Isabela" or anything, she's doing everything exclusively out of love and worry for Mirabel. She genuinely thinks this is what it takes to protect her. Choosing Mirabel over Isabela was never a question for her and Isabela is finding out about that now in the worst way possible.

Hi, Adrien is handed things on a silver platter whereas Marinette has to work for them.

First thing’s first is just the concept of the love square. Chat Noir gets to interact with Ladybug no matter what because they’re heroes. Ladybug - who carries the weight and responsibility of heroism without getting benefited from it - is required to go to every battle due to her purification ability, and Chat Noir of course is going to show up because he loves both flirting with Ladybug and the freedom of being a superhero.

In addition, Adrien got his miraculous by helping Master Fu up (something that would be expected out of any semi-decent person; by the way, yes, I know the “””significance””” of the action, and it’s silly), whereas Marinette saved him from being hit by a car.

Adrien was allowed back in school with still no explanation from Gabriel (especially since he’s Hawk Moth) as to why he thought it was a good idea to send his son to a school where the very first akumatization had happened. It was Adrien’s goal for the episode alongside making friends, and Nino offered him friendship out of pity when Adrien sulked about how Chloe was the closest thing to a friend he had.

Chat crushes on Ladybug because she stood up to Hawk Moth in a speech dripping with confidence, caught what seemed like hundreds of akuma, and came up with a plan quick enough to save Mylene and Ivan from falling to their deaths from the top of the Eiffel Tower. Marinette (who Chat fell in love with one side of first, mind you, so already this is to his benefit), meanwhile, crushes on Adrien because the narrative gave her a falsehood about him never having any friends (i.e: no Chloe) and he gave her an umbrella while he was ten meters away from his actual ride (like with Fu, again, any decent person--).

Chat’s crush on Ladybug makes things harder for her because it causes him to throw tantrums mid-battle, get distracted and distract her because he’s busy flirting, all of which make her feel guilty for not returning his feelings. Marinette’s crush on Adrien makes things hard for her again because it causes her to embarrass herself while virtually everyone who knows teases/mocks her for it, their opinions of her even being dragged down due to the crush (see Alya with the Lila situation).

Chat is shipped with Ladybug by Parisians everywhere and Alya delighted in taking a picture of them kissing (that got posted on the Ladyblog without Ladybug’s consent). Likewise, the other LadyNoir kiss (that Ladybug had to do to free Chat from Dark Cupid’s control) was shown on live TV for all watching to see. Marinette’s kisses with Adrien, however, were either wiped from the timeline (in which Adrien got to keep a secret from her so he could date “””Ladybug”””) or used to humiliate her because Adrien was attempting a prank.

Ladybug realizes that Chat is in serious about her, not because he told her himself, but because he relayed it to Marinette who happened to be Ladybug. Marinette, on the other hand, has spent 3+ seasons attempting to confess her feelings to Adrien or make advances on him, all of which ended in some form of failure and some of which through no fault of her own.

Chloe shoved her in “Bubbler” (Adrien didn’t even check on her) and then Nathalie crushed the note she’d written on a scarf that Marinette put tons of time and effort into, leading to Adrien thinking it was from his dad.

“Copycat” was accidental and came on too strong, requiring its deletion.

She got distracted by Alya and forgot to write her name in “Dark Cupid,” her letter only further solidifying Chat’s crush on Ladybug.

She kept getting interrupted in “Gamer” after Alya chided her for using the event to get with Adrien (despite Alya doing the same thing for Marinette during the film in “Horrificator” while Mylene was MIA).

She wasn’t able to tell Adrien about Lila’s thievery in “Volpina” because the grimoire had to remain a secret.

The hat in “A Christmas Special” got given away within minutes and then not even brought back on-screen by Miraculous Ladybug (Adrien never even thanked Marinette personally for it).

Kagami came out of nowhere to take the fencing spot in “Riposte.”

Deciding not to make schemes only led to her embarrassment in “Gigantitan.”

She got made fun of and the notes all conveniently looked the same in “Backwarder,” leading to her mixing them up.

The macaron for Adrien (that Marinette would prepare every week) never got eaten by him and ended up causing the akuma after Chloe had emotionally manipulated Marinette into scheming with her.

Practicing on a statue (as per Tikki’s advice) in “The Puppeteer 2″ humiliated her when Adrien revealed himself as the statue.

She was embarrassed during the party in “Party Crasher” because she was pressured into dancing without her consent.

The timeline had to be reset in “Chat Blanc” and she had to lie to her friends that she hadn’t given Adrien the gift even though she’d actually succeeded, while the hat she made just for Adrien got written off as a gift from a random fan (which is an even worse fate than the scarf).

The confession in “Felix” was deleted by Felix himself before Adrien could see it.

And Adrien, meanwhile? Ohhhh boy, lemme tell you about Adrien.

He gets put into suggestive/close positions with Ladybug on many, many occasions, all for “free.”

He got a kiss from Ladybug in “Dark Cupid” that, remember, got photographed and put on live TV.

He got to goad the audience without consequence about he and Ladybug potentially being in a relationship eventually - gaining the knowledge that all of Paris was invested in LadyNoir to thoroughly stroke his ego - and then Ladybug had to act like they were a couple in “Prime Queen” to the point of holding Chat’s hand and saying that they were in love.

Likewise, “Glaciator” featured Ladybug having to act like a couple with him again, now to the point of kissing his cheek, and then Chat got a blush from her after he’d spent a good chunk of the akuma battle pouting that Ladybug didn’t come to the date he set up (that she hadn’t even known was a date because he purposefully withheld that information) despite her telling him that she’d have to see about it because she had plans.

He was reassured in “Anansi” on being “irreplaceable” after he made an unnecessary comment about being replaced by a turtle (Carapace).

He got to carry Ladybug around bridal style and also save her in “Sandboy” and “Reverser” respectively because she was rendered essentially useless without him, then got to save her again in “Frozer” after giving her the cold shoulder for rejecting his feelings.

He’s the one who got told by Marinette’s own parent not to apologize for how he feels in “Weredad” (note that Marinette herself never got this talk from Sabine, nor Tom, which very much could’ve prevented “Crocoduel”).

He got a cheek kiss from Ladybug in “Desperada” after getting to undo the very-much-against-the-rules identity reveal he made to her via Second Chance.

He got to look good in “Gamer 2.0″ when Ladybug was seeking advice from him despite the fact that her and Chat’s situations hero-wise are absolutely, completely, 100% different and he didn’t even try to take that into account.

He got Ladybug resting her head on his shoulder because of what she saw in a deleted time in which he - unbeknownst to her - lied by omission.

A fake Ladybug tried to kiss him on two separate occasions, “The Puppeteer 2″ and “Ladybug,” much to his delight (something to note is that the fake Adrien who went after Ladybug in both “Chameleon” and “Felix” tried to force themselves on her).

He got the “jealousy” moment from Ladybug in “Heart Hunter” and then a hug from Aquabug in “Miracle Queen.”

He received no repercussions for taking Ladybug out on a date (that she wasn’t aware was going to be a date) in “Gang of Secrets,” at best having to apologize for her behavior to the people around them.

He got reassured that Ladybug “couldn’t do this without him” in “Guiltrip,” even to the point of being told that she “probably doesn’t tell him enough.”

He got told by Ladybug that she would never abandon him in “Hack-San” because he was guilting her sulking about how his not knowing her identity would mean that he’d never see her again if she left him somehow.

And before you think this only extends to the romantic aspects of love square, let me tell you now that it definitely doesn’t.

Marinette entered the bowler hat competition and had to defend her own work to the judge.

She ran for class representative and had to earn the trust and faith of her class in “Darkblade” when put up against Chloe’s bribery.

She did whatever she could to make sure Juleka got her picture taken in “Reflekta.”

She had to actually craft a pair of glasses suitable for Jagged Stone in “Pixelator” and then make a gorgeous album cover for him in “Guitar Villain.” (note that this partially led to “Troublemaker” where she was just happily wanting to advertise her parents’ business, and the writers multiplied her Adrien pictures for the sake humiliating her when it was caught on live TV)

She had to work to get ungrounded by improving her attendance in “Simon Says,” because she had been busy being a hero.

She worked to try and get Nathaniel and Marc to get together on a project, knowing it would be good for both of them.

She set up an entire celebration for her bully to try and make said bully feel good about herself in “Malediktator.”

She did Kitty Section’s designs and costumes in “Silencer�� and then had to go protect them from being stolen, along with her friends’ music.

She had to wear multiple miraculouses in “Kwamibuster” in order to go against Kwamibuster and get back both the ladybug earrings and the cat ring.

“Gamer 2.0.” Just... “Gamer 2.0.″

She made a whole complex lockbox to protect the Miracle Box in “Gang of Secrets.”

She worked to reach out to Zoe in “Sole Crusher” even after Zoe trashed her in front of the school, going as far as to try and comfort Zoe’s akumatized form.

She had to stand up for the movie to be fixed in “Queen Banana” because no one else would.

She has to work each and every akuma battle as Ladybug, figuring out Lucky Charms that can range from simple to complicated, while simultaneously dealing with a partner who relies heavily on her plans and will occasionally make things harder by either throwing tantrums mid-battle or distracting her.

And meanwhile...

Chat Noir got to throw the blame onto Ladybug for Theo’s akumatization in “Copycat.”

Marinette covered for him in “The Collector” when he was the one who recklessly lost the grimoire by not being careful with it.

He got handed Fu’s identity in “Syren” after whining to Ladybug, throwing blame on her and trying to bribe Plagg so they’d tell him, threatening to quit while Paris was underwater, and all of this while Marinette herself only got to meet Fu because she had the grimoire on her.

He was given the moral high ground in “Malediktator” despite not having to actually care about Chloe enough to call/check on her.

He got to sit back in “Chameleon” and not concern himself with judgment or comment on the situation with Lila, even going into “Ladybug” where he continues to inform no one about Lila (including Marinette, who briefly believed that Lila came to her senses and was willing to make amends) after Lila got Marinette expelled, despite the complete lack of risk on his part considering who his father is and how harshly Lila would be dragged through the mud if she dared to trash his reputation.

He clumsily trips in “Captain Hardrock” in a fashion that reveals an instrument he happens to play, leading to him getting invited to join Kitty Section within seconds of being on the Liberty. (so when Adrien is clumsy, it’s to his benefit, and when Marinette is clumsy, it’s to her detriment)

He never got called out for distracting Ladybug and digging for details that could relate to her identity in “Kwamibuster” (which, again, forced Marinette to do all the work to fix things).

He got a party thrown for him in “Party Crasher” by Nino, and also guys that Adrien had never put forth effort into interacting with or befriending (Marinette had also been through more with all of them sans Nino).

He got to force Ladybug’s favorite traits of his out of her in “Truth” because she was under the influence of Truth’s powers.

He got off the hook for sacrificing himself in “Lies” by flirting about Ladybug’s “irresistible angry little pout,” and also never got repercussions for flirting with another girl while dating Kagami.

He never had to face consequences for smashing a chimney in “Sentibubbler,” even as he was dismissing the gesture because he knew Miraculous Ladybug would fix it.

He didn’t have to apologize for his behavior in “Hack-San,” whereas Ladybug "had to” for telling someone else her identity (the details of why - i.e: that she was having a mental breakdown and needed a release from it - being completely left out) and not telling him that she was leaving (when she literally hadn’t had time to tell him anything; do note as well that Adrien didn’t have to do the same in either “Backwarder” or “Startrain”).

He received no consequences and was in fact rewarded for allowing the akuma in “Wishmaker” to hit him, a choice that Viperion has to live with because it caused him to see both Ladybug and Chat’s identities (meaning now Luka - someone who, like the guys in “Party Crasher” - Adrien has done virtually nothing for - can support Adrien since he knows).

And I could go on, I really could, but my point is that Adrien is given all of the sympathy and sad points while Marinette basically never is. Just like how he was born swimming in money, fame, and adoring fans, the show hands out praises and all the things he’s ever wanted because he’s sad.

He doesn’t have to try. He can whine and complain and vent to Plagg about how “replaceable” he is because the show will mollycoddle him to the moon and back. They’ll put his crush on Ladybug’s shoulders to make her feel guilty while Marinette is over here having to bust her butt just for a chance at Adrien recognizing any semblance of her feelings, and he goes on being blissfully ignorant of them so he doesn’t have to suffer like Ladybug does.

In addition, Marinette has to either be “““making mistakes”““ or embarrassing herself in order to get screen time because the burden of lessons fails upon her, whereas Adrien can be name-dropped without even doing anything.

It’s not just the love square that’s unbalanced, it’s everything between these two. Ladybug is scolded and punished for the slightest act of selfishness while Adrien is encouraged and rewarded for being selfish and demanding things. Marinette has to work to be noticed (and sometimes won’t even get that much) while all Adrien has to do is put on his best sad face and the show will bend over backwards to either give him exactly what he wants or make him the sympathetic one through the narrative.

Even if Adrien had known about Marinette’s crush at the time that Ladybug knew about Chat’s, it wouldn’t matter, because the tipped scales in how they’re treated would still make it so Marinette is the one at fault for “dumping her feelings onto Adrien” while Ladybug is still forced to interact with Chat even if his advances make her uncomfortable.

Chat noir arrived at their usual meeting place. Ladybug hadn't proposed a night patrol in a long time. Chat noir knows that these always impact his sleep, but its always worth it just to see ladybug.

"Good evening Bugaboo." Chat noir greeted as he took notice of Ladybug, who was standing there. She had her arms crossed and her expression was clearly not one of joy.

"Umm, is something wrong?" Chat noir asked. He felt a brief stint of panic. What did he do wrong? He needed to figure it out quick.

Ladybug walked closer, and as she did chat noir realized her expression wasn't of anger, but of a different emotion, worry.

"Can we talk for a bit Kitty?" Her voice was soft and calm. Chat noir felt himself ease. Maybe she was going to open up about something. He felt guilty that his default was to try and figure out what he did wrong.

Ladybug headed to the edge of the roof. She sat down and patted the spot next to show where she wanted him to sit.

The cat hero complied and sat next to her.

"Quite a beautiful night isn't it?" Chat noir complimented the night. Paris always did sparkle in the night. Both he and Ladybug loved that about the city.

"Yes..." Ladybug agreed, but it was clear her mind was on other things.

"So what is it you want to ask me?" Chat noir inquired.

"How... is your home life?"

Chat noir paused. This was not a question he expected. Ladybug was always the one that put the ax to personal questions.

"My Lady are you planning a home visit?" Chat noir cooed. "I thought we weren't suppose to talk about our personal lives."

"Chat noir, please answer the question." Her tone had a bit more bite to it. Not anger, but concern.

"Oh umm, well. Its alright I guess. Not much to really tell."

"Whats your relationship like with your parents? What's school life for you? Are you bullied? Are you..."

"My school life is fine. I got good friends that I can see when Im not busy with things, like being a hero." Chat noir replied. "Im glad you're interested but I think there is more to this then just a nice chat about our personal lives."

Ladybug stopped.

"You're right. There is more to this. Im... worried about you."

"About me?" Chat noir chuckled. "The goofy kitty? Im fine."

"Im serious." The heroine stated, she was not going to let chat noir play this off.

"Ladybug Im fine." Chat noir assured. "I mean if we want to really delve into something, I did have a break up relatively recently, but I was able to move on from it. It just didn't work out since we both wanted different things. "

Ladybug looked at him and softened a bit.

"Im sorry to hear that."

"Its not as bad as you think. I mean its a bit of a rough patch but it will be fine. Honestly you were having more of a tough time from what I remember. How are you doing with all that?"

"Huh? Oh I was a bit bummed but I am reprioritizing things. Superhero stuff makes it hard to date." Ladybug confided. "But Is that the reason you have been so... self destructive..."

"Self-destructive? Wait you think I'm..."

"Don't try and play it off, you have been sacrificing yourself WAY more often than necessary and both of us know it." Ladybug raised her tone.

"You think because of a... No Ladybug. I am doing my job. I buy you time to figure out what the lucky charm does so we can beat the akuma. Have I been a bit reckless a few times, yes. But thats because I know you will fix it. Im not self destructive."

"What about when we fought reflekta and that sentimonster portal."

"That was the bubbles making us feel gloomy. It wasn't reflective of how we are."

"Chat noir those bubbles weren't forcing you to be gloomy it was attracted to your internal guilt and then built on it. When it first hit you, you almost cataclysmed yourself!"

"I was trying to destroy the bubbles."

"That is a load of Bull..."

"You are making a big deal over nothing."

"Chat noir you need to talk with someone. This is serious!"

The blond hero stood up.

"Ladybug, I'm fine. If you want me to stop sacrificing myself when needed I can't. I can promise to try and keep it to a minimum." Chat noir stated. "I appreciate your concern but I really am fine. I think we should just start the patrol."

"Kitty please. I felt crazy overwhelmed and I had someone to talk to about it and it helped. I was in a dark place, I don't want you to suffer."

"Im not suffering Ladybug. Besides its not like you could tell the person everything we go through." Chat noir responded. He was getting ready to go patrol. Ready to jump to the next rooftop. "Lets just start patrolling the..."

"I did though."

He stopped.

"I told someone... who I was." Ladybug answered.

"You... you did?"

"Yes, it made me realize how much of a burden this whole thing is. Without fu, there was no one I could really talk with... he had Marianne who understood. I think you should have someone to talk with that you can tell everything to. It can really help."

Chat noir looked at her.

"I see. I think you should go get some rest Ladybug. I will handle the night patrol."

"Chat noir please."

"Good night Ladybug."

The cat jumped from the roof to the other one. Ladybug got up and quickly followed.

"Chat noir hold on, the conversation is not over."

"I think we've both said enough." Chat noir kept moving. He started moving faster. Ladybug sped up to compensate.

Chat noir tried to lose ladybug, but she was just as fast and in the well lit city, Ladybug could keep finding him.

Chat noir slicked into a dark alley, ladybug followed only to be unable to see where the cat went.

"Kitty please. I know this is a tough conversation... I know it feels like I betrayed your trust. But I want to help you."

A message appears on Ladybug's phone.

She opens it.

'You didn't betray my trust. You did what was right for you to feel better. I don't blame you for that. I just want to be alone right now. I will be fine. Maybe I will talk with someone, I just need some space.'

Ladybug sighed.

"Is that what you really want? You don't hate me? You aren't going to do anything rash?"

Another message.

'It is what I want, I could never hate you, and its just patrol, I won't do any rash decisions.'

"Come out Chaton... please. Let me see your face. I won't leave until I see it. I need to know your okay."

Chat noir sighed. But he walked out of the shadows.

"See, I am okay."

Ladybug hugged him.

"Its okay kitty, Im here. Let me be here for you."

"Im fine ladybug you don't need to do this. Im fine. Im fine."

Ladybug held him tighter. She saw he needed it. She saw the tears streaming down his face. She could see how alone he felt.

"Its my turn to be there for you kitty."

Chat noir felt his heart bang against his chest, he closed his arms around her.

"Im... not fine."

Luka is very aesthetically appealing to me but also gives me lots of gender envy, he’s in that perfect middle ground I have when it comes to boys that just makes me die, legitimately.

I absolutely love Luka’s sassy hand flick when he transforms into Viperion. Also I love how I ended up making this gif so he head bangs into Viperion over and over. 10/10 very amusing

Honestly the guitar twins are both so cute, I believe in guitar twins supremacy. I love the vibe of guitar so I might be a little biased but STILL.

Tell me they’re not both absolutely attractive because I swear to god they both have amazing style and great hair and vibes.

Speaking of, the hype behind Luka is entirely deserved (because he’s great) but let’s stop sleeping on Juleka!

Her personality is literally so sweet! She’s shy in front of her peers but can speak up for herself when she truly needs to (when her parents were fighting) and she’s not scared of the things other people would normally be afraid of (she isn’t scared of Mylène when she becomes Horrificator). I’m really excited that she’s getting the opportunity to break out of her comfort zones and stand up for herself more in season four (Guiltrip and Crocoduel). Also she’s legit so aesthetically pleasing aND LOOK AT HER SMILE SHES SO CUTE

Tigress supremacy! I hope we’ll get to see more episodes with Tigress and I would love to see some interaction between Tigress and Viperion not knowing the other is their sibling! Tigress’s hair is so cute tho and the ears!! Oh my goodness

Chat Noir tho 👀 This scene has been replaying in my head for like a week so I made it a gif to replay it in my eyes! Ladybug pretends she doesn’t like it, but I love Chat’s jokes and demeanor. Also! Big gender envy vibes from him as well, though not from Adrien?

I definitely like Chat Noir more than Adrien, but I’ve been beginning to like Adrien a bit more recently. In season four, Adrien is just barely beginning to be more like his true self (Chat Noir) instead of the self he’s constructed to please his father and society. Adrien’s eyes and smiles are soft and kind which makes them appealing, but I hope he gets to be himself more without the mask like in Oblivio.

Marinette!

Marinette is totally the type of girl I would have a crush on if she were real, but, if we’re being honest, is there a girl I wouldn’t have a crush on? gjzjfsktd girls are so pretty. Anyway, Marinette looks good in every single miraculous she has ever used. I really hope we can get more of Adrien wearing different miraculouses in the coming seasons as well. But Aqua Ladybug and Bee Ladybug are both so pretty what in the world. And the mouse miraculous + literally anything is always so cute on her. The black cat looks good on everyone! (please don’t send me Master Fu or Damocles or whatever in the black cat miraculous I swear to god)

I love this scene of Ladybug, and Chat’s face when she grabs the chain is so funny too! Just something really attractive about Ladybug right here. :D

Rena Rouge!

I’ve always loved Rena’s design because of the big fluffy hair parts that fade to white and the mask that makes the eyes look larger than on Ladybug’s or Chat Noir’s masks. She’s so pretty when she strikes the pose to play the flute and I love how dynamic the ending pose of her transformation is. I also really like both the original design and the Rena Furtive design!

Zoé!

I like Zoé’s design and I absolutely LOVE her sneakers. I basically only wear converse or vans and I love the unique patterns (I have mermaid print, rainbow tie dye, sunset, etc in high tops) Im going to make another post soon going through everyone’s shoes and my opinions of them soon! :D

I really love Vesperia’s design! The hairstyle she was given is so cute and I love the kick she does at the end of her transformation, but maybe that’s just the dancer in me. Anyway, Vesperia’s character design looks like someone I would totally have a crush on if she were real.

Marc and Nathaniel!

I love both Marc and Nathaniel and I would really like to get more content of them in the coming seasons. I feel like everyone in the class has a bit more involvement and time to show off their character besides Nathaniel and I would love to see more from him. I got attached to Marc immediately and want more content I swear. Both of their designs are very cute too! Similar to Luka and Chat Noir, Marc and Nathaniel both give off varying degrees of gender envy! :)

Oooh, interesting question! I'll rank them from least powerful to most powerful, based on what we know about them so far. I'm not going to include any Miraculous that we haven't seen in action yet. Keep in mind also that the placement on this list will vary wildly based on what the user wants to do with the Miraculous, as they have such a variety of superpowers and applications.

With that out of the way, on to the list!

15. Pig Miraculous - Jubilation

This one may rise on the list once we've seen its power more often. Based on Guiltrip though, it seems pretty weak, only being able to show what the person you use its power on wants the most. Could be useful as a distraction or to gather information on someone's motives, but aside from that, its uses are pretty niche. I'm betting there's a reason why, even when Ladybug's calling all the heroes together, she hasn't asked Pigella to use her power again.

14. Mouse Miraculous - Multiplication

This one would be most useful when combined with other Miraculous that have a bit more firepower. As it is, it's great for reconnaissance or distractions, but is a bit lacking on its own. A more combat-focused wearer, however, might be able to take better advantage of the multiplication aspect to become a formidable force. (this depends on whether the shrinking aspect is baked into the multiplication, or whether it's a choice).

13. Tiger Miraculous - Exaltation

This Miraculous is for one thing and one thing only: hitting hard. Great if you need more pure offensive power, but other Miraculous options have more versatile uses without sacrificing strength.

12. Black Cat Miraculous - Destruction

It pains me to say this, but the Black Cat has the same problem the Tiger has - namely, that it's very strong offensively, but is pretty poor in most other applications. Even with how often it's used in the show, a lot of the time Cataclysm is just used to cause a distraction or to destroy the akumatized object, things that either other Miraculous would be better suited for or which don't need Miraculous powers at all.

11. Turtle Miraculous - Protection

This Miraculous has limited applications, but it does serve to provide a safe place to regroup when under pressure, and can be put in place and retracted quickly, as we saw in Optigami, giving some valuable cover when needed.

10. Horse Miraculous - Teleportation

This one can be pretty powerful in an adult users hands, with the ability to constantly teleport around the battlefield, transporting other people and objects with them if need be. It's severely crippled in the hands of a wielder who can only use its power once before recharging, but you can still get a lot out of it if used right, considering that you can make a portal to anywhere - even the surface of the sun.

9. Monkey Miraculous - Derision

This one can be extremely useful, but by nature is unpredictable. It's pretty good at temporarily incapacitating opponents, but it requires that the wielder be able to hit them with the object it summons, which can be a difficult proposition.

8. Bee Miraculous - Subjugation

This is a better version of the Monkey, in a lot of ways. It still requires that the user make physical contact with the enemy to incapacitate them, but it uses an easier-to-control item to do that, the results are more predictable, and it's a more complete sort of incapacitation, freezing the opponent.

7. Dragon Miraculous - Perfection

This one's unusual, in that you could say it has three powers: the ability to summon and control water, wind, or lightning, and even turn into those elements. Powerful and versatile in the right circumstances, I don't think we've seen all of what this Miraculous can do. The ability to turn into wind makes it hard to trap the user, and judging by Ryuko's fight in Ikari Gozen, also makes it so that the Dragon Miraculous user can blink in and out, making them insubstantial for a fraction of a second to avoid attacks - or perhaps just move fast enough to dodge them, it isn't clear. In any case, it's one of the more powerful Miraculous for offensive users with some great options for retreating if things appear to be going wrong.

6. Fox Miraculous - Illusion

Like the Mouse, the Fox doesn't have much firepower behind it and is mostly good for stealth and distractions. It is, however, really damn good at those roles. It can cover up the user and other people with an illusion, rendering them invisible, making them look and sound like other people, etc - plus, the user can hear and see whatever the illusions hear and see, as well as manifest those illusions from a distance away, judging by how Rena Rouge used the illusions of Ladybug and Chat Noir she created in Mr. Pigeon 72. Which basically means that the Fox Miraculous user can sneak an illusion into just about anywhere to spy, and then dissipate it to avoid being caught. Or use an illusion to cover up an ally who needs to sneak into somewhere.

5. Snake Miraculous - Intuition

The ability to reset time within a five minute period can be very powerful under the right circumstances, enabling the user to undo bad situations and prevent them from recurring - so long as they have the ability to prevent the situation in that short of a timespan that is. Truthfully, I'm not sure whether this one should be so high, but even limited time travel like this can be so insanely useful and difficult to guard against, that I feel like it needs to be in the top half of most powerful Miraculous at least.

4. Ladybug Miraculous - Creation

This one's mostly for "Miraculous Ladybug", the ability to reset everything to back before the fight occurred. It's an insanely strong ability that most superheroes WISH they had. Aside from that, the Lucky Charm can give some good hints about what to do next, though it requires the right kind of user to use effectively.

3. Rabbit Miraculous - Evolution

This is insanely strong, way moreso than the Snake Miraculous. The ability to time travel at will to the future or past, even using it to dodge attacks? Yes please! You have to be careful about damage to the time stream, but if someone wanted to wreak havoc, few Miraculous would be scarier than the Rabbit - and few have more potential to save the timeline from destruction, either.

2. Butterfly Miraculous - Transmission

What's more powerful than the ability to time travel at will? The ability to empower someone with that ability - or any other that the Butterfly wielder so chooses. The wielder even has the ability to create an akuma to allow them to create multiple akumas, which just seems like cheating.

1. Peacock Miraculous - Emotion

It's hard to choose which order to put the Peacock and Butterfly in since their powers are so similar, but I'm pretty happy with this listing. Multiple sentimonsters can be in play at once so long as you have multiple Peacock users, which gives more options. That may also be true of the Butterfly Miraculous user, but we haven't seen it in action yet, so I can't say for sure. While both the Peacock and the Butterfly can create beings with any superpower they wish, the Peacock allows the user far more control over the superpowered being, at the cost of their creation potentially having unexpected qualities to them, if they weren't careful during the creation process. The fact that the Peacock can CREATE LIFE - even humans - puts it above the Butterfly.

So there you have it! That's my ranking. Some of them may shuffle around over time, but the top 3 are the top 3 for good reason.

Glaciator 2.0 vague spoilers here, but this is mostly general character talk. As someone who would throw hands for Adrien Agreste to be happy, I gotta say I laughed really hard at the trash can thing. Like, thinking about it sure it was HARSH and obviously it hit him hard because he's been feeling inadequate all season. But LB really just lost her temper there and did something silly. She already has a short fuse and that situation would have upset anyone. I think it's one of those things where you've gotta realize they have powers and that throw didn't physically hurt him. She knew that. Something I find interesting with this show is that I often find myself frustrated with Marinette. (I love her tho, hear me out.) To me, she's not typically relatable. She processes things in a completely different way than I ever would. She reacts in ways I couldn't imagine. I think of the scene in "Guiltrip" with Juleka hiding and she just texts their friends and tells them where she is. I was really annoyed with her there. She's, aside from with Adrien because of nerves, overly direct with seeing a problem and trying to solve it HER way. But her way isn't always the best way. It often doesn't make sense to me or other characters and can be super complicated. As Ladybug, this is effective and actually to her benefit. It allows her to figure out her Lucky Charm and come up with insane solutions to save the day. I find her fascinating. She's brilliant, talented, creative, brave and so much more. She's a good person and a great hero. But I do not relate to her. Guess who processes things in a completely different way? Adrien. And I relate to him a lot as many people do. Relating to him obviously doesn't mean I think of him as perfect. (I mean we’re both awesome I guess, but perfect is impossible and overrated. 😉) He tries to understand the perspective of others. Think back to the “Guiltrip” episode where, in contrast to Marinette, he understood that Juleka wanted to be alone and comforted her quietly. But that empathy is both a blessing and a curse because you can wind up being taken advantage of and making excuses for people when you shouldn't. Like he does with Gabriel. The oversharing without self-control in some aspects and bottling up other things because he doesn't want to be a burden? Understood. Jokes when things are tense and at just inappropriate times? Absolutely. My point is that often I'm annoyed with Marinette because I don't usually relate to her and I'm sure people who DO relate to Marinette find themselves annoyed with Adrien often as well. (Hopefully, in a 'gosh he's a mess but I love him' sort of way that I feel about her.) These two characters were MADE to balance each other out and with those differences we are bound to connect more with one and get more frustrated with the other. Anyway just my thoughts, I love both of them so much.

Marichat May Day 7 prompt: Secrets.

I think we can all agree that we were robbed in Shanghai. So I’m rewriting it because I can. This time though, the Shanghai special takes place somewhere in the middle of season 4 (probably after Guiltrip because that’s the episode I just watched) So there’s that.

Marinette was so excited to go to Shanghai about a day ago. She had taken to reading more about her Chinese heritage and, having learned that her parents wanted to surprise her with a trip to Shanghai, she was ecstatic to go. Her uncle happily provided his home for the visit and, to her great surprise, Adrien had come to Shanghai too. His father had coincidentally had business here.

She had worked hard to get over Adrien and at this point in time, it had nearly worked. She had taken down the pictures and erased his activities on her calendar. Unfortunately, the sight of him still sent her heart racing and made her tongue tied, but she stopped losing her head whenever he was around, which made conversation much easier.

She had strolled around Shanghai earlier in the day. Her uncle was concerned for her safety of course but she promised she would stay on the same street. She had looked in shop windows at the gorgeous antiques, clothes, and even more. Her sketch book was soon filled with new inspiration for her designs. When she turned to head home, she spotted a familiar mop of blonde hair and waved to Adrien. He didn’t seem to notice her though.

All these events felt like they happened years ago now as she stood a top a building with a distraught Fei. The sounds of Chat Noir taking great swings at the akuma rang loudly in her ears. Fei was the only one who could defeat them and she knew it deep down, but she still couldn’t bring herself to.

The next moment, she was falling. The events of a few minutes previous had quickly left her mind. She remembered learning to crawl, and falling off her bike, and drawing her first every design, matching t-shirts that said “Paris’ Greatest Parents”. She remembered capturing Tikki in a glass cup the first time they met, and standing under an umbrella that Adrien was holding. Master Fu was making her the new Guardian and Alya held her when she found out she was Ladybug.

“Marinette!” A desperate cry came from above her and she saw her partner. Was this another flashback? Without control of her body, her hand reached up to touch him, she wanted to hug him and thank him for everything. His hand latched around hers and pulled her flush towards him, then they weren’t falling anymore. She snapped out of it when she felt a shudder come from him. He picked his head up off of her shoulder, his face was stained with dried tears as more threatened to spill

“I finally found you.”

Fei, being fuelled by rage that Marinette had almost been killed, had become a dragon at last and easily defeated the akuma. She bounded towards Chat Noir once the pair of them had reached ground level. In the mouth of the bear form she had taken, was the butterfly. “Excellent job Fei, you really saved us.” Chat sniffed. His eyes were slightly puffy, which could have been from falling head first about 20 feet. “Marinette,” he turned to face her, his eyes watered almost instantly, “I need you to go and hide for now, Hawkmoth was taken by the akuma and I don’t want you to be anywhere near him when he reappears.” Marinette, thinking that it would be better to just follow instructions, began to walk away. Chat caught her hand.

“Just wait for me to come get you alright? I’ll bring you to your u- uh wherever you’re staying.” She looked at him puzzled. “But,” he waved a finger at her. “No buts, I’m making sure you get back safely. And don’t even try to leave without me, I will know.” She nodded and walked away towards a nearby, deserted alleyway.

“Marinette, what’s that on your shoulder?” Tikki flew from her purse. Marinette felt behind her with her arm before her fingers closed around a small disc. She pulled it off.

“That cat put a tracker on me. What a sly little,” Marinette recited but Tikki cut in. “He’s worried Marinette. You heard and saw how he reacted when you were falling.”

“No I didn’t, I just remember one minute I was with Fei, the next me and Chat were dangling from his baton in midair and he was crying.” Tikki smiled. “Yes he was crying, he screamed in terror when he saw you fall. It was quite frightening actually, that’s probably why Fei didn’t say anything.”

Marinette thought about this for a moment before realizing that she had somewhere to be. “We’ve got to go meet Chat and Fei now, there’s an akuma to cleanse and hopefully a Hawkmoth to catch. Tikki, Spots On!”

As she made her way to the alley where Chat thought she was, she couldn’t help feeling satisfied. She sent Chat to get Hawkmoth and although he didn’t catch him, she was still glad to see that the run had calmed him down a little. That was until he realized that Marinette was still alone in that alleyway. She was able to persuade him to wait and calm down before going to get her though, which gave her time to get back to her hiding spot and, with Tikki’s help, put the tracking device back where it had been moments ago.

A soft thump was heard beside her before she was being suffocated under arms that were magically stronger than the average person. “You’re alright, you’re alright.” He chanted over and over again before realizing that Marinette couldn’t breathe. He released her almost immediately and sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. Marinette who wanted to comfort him, wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head and his chest. She could hear his heartbeat steadily speed up as he hugged her back and rested his head on hers.

“I was so worried when I found out you were missing. I thought maybe you had lost track of things, being how clumsy you are.” Marinette looked up at him and pouted. How long had he been searching for her exactly? Because it was about 9 pm now and she had started running around with Fei at about noon. He chuckled sadly and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. “Then you were missing for hours and I didn’t know what to think. I was scared you were robbed or kidnapped.” She smiled.

“The first answer was right. Fei stole my purse and I had the location of my uncle’s house on there. So I got scared that the thief might try to rob him later so I chased her down the street and got lost.” He gapped at her. “Are you crazy? You should had gone to your uncles and tried to contact me! That was so reckless and careless and-“

“What like how you throw your life away for Ladybug?” She didn’t have to say this loudly to have an effect. He immediately stopped and stared wide-eyed at her. Against her will, her vision started to blur. “You really need to stop doing that you know. I hate it when you do.” A tear ran down her cheek but Chat brushed it away and held her again. “Well I don’t think I ever want to see you fall off a building again so I’ll try to stop if you do.” She chuckled and buried her face in his shoulder.

“Hey, do you mind if we take a detour home?” He broke the silence a few minutes later and she nodded, allowing him to pick her up and carry her towards a darker part of the city. Unfortunately, Shanghai being as bright as it was, they couldn’t see many stars but all the same, they lay down on a rooftop and tried to find some.

“I like being Chat much better than my civilian life.” The comment came out of nowhere but Marinette still turned to listen.

“One of the many joys of being me, is a tightly packed schedule and endless amounts of responsibility. Many people regard me as this kind of statue that has to stay highly polished at all times. I think I’m too good at leaving that impression on people, my first girlfriend had flat out rejected me when I showed her my silly side. She said I was acting like a clown and that it wasn’t who I really was.” He had never told Ladybug any of this, she hoped that he wouldn’t hit too close to home.

“Sometimes I think that I don’t know who I am anymore. I know that I feel happy being funny and when I protect people, but,” he turned to look at her. His face was soft. “Right now is different.” She was confused. “Different how?” She questioned.

“It’s a good different. I know it’s kind of random but I just wanted you to know that, I feel like myself right now, which isn’t something I get to feel often. So thank you.” He smiled.

She would be lying if she said that her heart wasn’t doing backflips right now. “That sounds nice, but, why me? I mean, I’m not really anything special or different. I thought that you would be happiest with Ladybug.” He smiled. “I don’t get to hang out Ladybug very often, and when we do hang out, it’s more of a patrol. Everything is work with her, being with her is easy but we don’t really get the chance to just relax and be in each other’s company like this.” He frowned slightly.

“And don’t say you’re nothing special. I don’t really understand it but you have this magnetism that I can’t explain. I’ve seen it before. People are just naturally attracted towards you, I myself feel more attached to you than any other civilian I’ve met, and yes that includes the other superheroes.”

She gaped at him. She never knew how much influence she had on Chat Noir. I mean they’ve only met a few times. “I just, how? We aren’t around each other often. I mean sure you’ve saved me a number of times but other than that one time, we haven’t spent time together.” He shrugged, “I don’t know either. I just get the feeling that you’re someone who I can be myself with.” She smiled. “Well since we’re sharing secrets I might as well share one of mine.

He rolled over and propped himself up on his elbows, smiling down at her expectantly. “Well, there was a boy.” He tilted his head in confusion. “Was a boy?” She nodded. “I’ve liked him for forever but I could never get the words out. I stammer in front of him so much that he thinks everything I say doesn’t make sense.” He smiled. “Well you make sense to me.” She grinned. “Yes well I’ve been trying to get over him for a while now, but every time I see his face I just melt all over again. Not that I don’t want to love him, because I do. He’s one of the best people I know, but I know he’ll never feel the same.”

Chat looked confused again. “How do you know he won’t feel the same way?” She frowned. “Because I’ve always been just a friend to him. He makes that very clear.” Chat’s eyes went wide, but Marinette didn’t know why. “It wouldn’t happen to be Adrien Agreste would it?” Now it was her turn to go wide eyed. “How did you know?” He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Uh lucky guess I suppose.” A tinge of pink was prominent under his mask. They needed a change of subject. She sat up and put on her best smile.

“Can I draw you?” His ears perked up. “Uh what?” He blushed again. “Can I draw you?” In what seemed to be a great effort, he screwed up his face and looked at her in a teasing sort of way. “Draw me? Or paint me,” he threw an arm over his forehead and posed in a, supposed to be seductive pose. “Like one of your french girls.” He swooned. She burst out laughing which, she noticed, created a sort of twinkle in his eye. “I mean we are french but I meant just draw you. You know, you pose and I draw you. I could even give you a cool outfit to wear.” He stood up and walked around so he was in front of her.

She crossed her legs and rested the sketch book against her knee. “Ok now strike a pose kitty!” He looked suddenly sheepish but posed like a model worthy of a magazine. She went to work drawing him out in a messy sketch that she could tidy up after. They went through a few poses before she stopped him.

“Hmm yes yes these are great model poses. Now how about a different kind of pose.” His face went ridged. She panicked and waves her arms in front of her. “I mean you don’t have to if you don’t want to, I just want to try to express a different part of your personality.” He walked over and sat down in front of her confused.

“A different part of my personality?” She blinked. “Well yeah, you’re not just some perfect statue are you? Your also a silly cat, and a protective superhero, and a caring person, and a flirt.” He blushed then laughed. “Nice way to end it princess.” She crossed her arms. “Well it’s true, you’re a flirty person. You flirt with people all the time, whether it’s on purpose or not.” He blushed. “Do I really flirt with a lot of people.” She nodded.

He fidgeted a little. “Come on Chat, strike a pose, but not one worthy of fashion weekly.” He screwed up his face in contemplation before standing and apparently coming to a decision. ���Ok then, how about the cat!” Then he struck a goofy pose. She laughed and he looked crest fallen for a second before she said, “Yes kitty that’s purrfect.” She started sketching away.

Little did she know. Chat Noir was displaying the biggest grin he had ever produced. A smile so bright, it could rival the blinding lights of Shanghai.

Its his way of being rectangular towards me sometimes and how he annoys me about his repetitive rants about religion. He can be very oc, strict and old fashioned. But he's my sweet old man.

And so I get a little nostalgic here..

He will always be my villainous looking protagonist and I will always be that little brat who wants to runaway from home packing clothes in her school bag, bringing them to the backyard crying. (I can't run that far wala akong pamasahe. I was five haha).

He will always be my nurse and I will always be that little miss clumsy scared of his way of cleaning my wounds. 70% isoprophyl..haha

He will always be my disciplinarian but i will always be that little miss vengeance biting his leg when he hits me with his belt because I am the unruly type. Not to mention his scar at his back when I pressed a huge pencil on his skin.. (maldita)

I will always play guiltrip for cutting some parts of paperdollhouse book that he gave me for present. I used them for my diorama project.

If it was Marinette's case, Luka (whether or not he knows her secret identity) will find out her wish is to confess her identity/love to Adrien and he would use Second Chance/sacrifice to prevent that. He'll also find out that part of Mari's wish is she might not want to have a future with him and consider him as a second option. Realizing both of their identities as LB/CN and how dangerous their wishes are, Luka will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.

Once the day is saved, Luka will pretty much tell Mari its best not to continue and stay friends. He'll either be sad that Mari don't like him that way anymore or scared of Mari finding out that he knows both of their identities.

Oh and the morality of the episode for Marinette is it's okay if you don't know what to do if life. It's best to not know and just live with it.

Honestly lately i’ve been feeling like shit, and when i say lately i mean more like since fucking december the depression’s been hitting me hard and i’m supposed to search for a job but i haven’t sent any resumes actually i can’t find the motivation to even do that when i know i’m gonna get rejected and i know!! that it’s not the right state of mind?? but there’s a reason it’s called a mental illness…

And living with my mom after having spent months living alone in my own, although very small, place in a different city, i just feel like i’m choking and she’s asking so much of me emotionally and i am so tired of being her best friend and confident and feeling like i’m abandonning her whenever i go out with friends, which is rarely because the guiltrips!!!, because she doesn’t have friends, she doesn’t see people outside of her work, i am her everything and it is so exhausting??? she has a bf but he actually is a married guy, with whom she’s been for more than 10 years and he’s getting very close to retiring but he’s not gonna dump his wife apparently, and honestly i don’t even want to talk about it with her because i hate the guy and i want him gone but at least when she is with him i can have 5 minutes alone.

and the reason i’m posting all this here and not somewhere else is bcz my irl friends follow my tumblr like, i have statcounter, so i know that they check it regularly, and i don’t want to make them sad by vague posting about them, and i don’t want them to feel guilty but i feel really shitty since two of them left to join our friend who is in ireland so now there’s only two of us here and they are all in ireland and they are forgetting about me already, and i hate that it’s my paranoia/selfishness talking but. one of them was in the us and supposed to take a plane friday, she tells us on the groupchat that her plane’s been rescheduled and she’s keeping us in the loop, and my friend who is also in frc with me had to ask them to know if she had finally arrived, and turns out yeah she was already there???? and this is how it starts, esp since one of them, L, everytime she goes in another country we stop having news, when she went to kra for a year we had zero news, then two years ago she went to the us and once again, no news until she came back and i feel so abandonned and so jealous that they’re all together and it’s selfish and terrible but i just want to scream

And if only i had a job i would be busy and working my way to being independent financially and having my own place but that would only work if i actually sent job applications!! And i started paying for a driving licence but i can’t make myself focus on this shit and i have to pass it soon, i invested too much money to not havz it and i need it so i czn finally feel like i have options in life but i can’t make myself focus on anything for more than 10min except video games…..

anyways i’m just gonna take up smoking or something beacsue at least then i’ll maybe lose part of the 20kg i have to lose to be less ugly. shit i ma just so tired of holding everything back…. so so so tired.
