12 & 21 for the ask game
AAAA tY FOR ASKING
12. What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?
Ooooo I'm torn on this one honestly? I have a lot of AUs in my head not down on paper, some that are just. So far from the original source material that they're practically their own media just with borrowed faces oops XD
But I guess right now it's probably the fate AU where magic is a thing but Most of the characters are just Normal, with the Main fic being a teachers/teaching AU because -slaps head- you can fit so much salt about academia in this bad boy. I started it like...yesterday with the usual brainrot focused on Salieri and my brain has already veered completely into making a oneshot in the same universe focusing on another character's encounter with a supernatural cult leader SO IT'S REALLY GOING. I do also enjoy my Alter Ego Salieri AU.
21. Go onto your AO3. Which ship have you written for the most? The least? Does this correspond to who you consider your "favourite?"
Well, by virtue of works on AO3 it's a bit of a tossup. I have a multi-chapter fic in one fandom but a lot of the entries in it are platonic or can be read both ways so I don't really count it? So then it goes to next most written which is Morwen/Telemain from The Enchanted Forest Chronicles and Padme/Anakin from Star Wars, both with a grand total of two fics each. x'D
Padme/Anakin is a ship I'm neutral about, but since it was basically just a fix-it series that...is a lil abandoned right now, they're together because I haven't decided if they stay together or break it off to just be friends and coparents. Since rn they're both still in a lot of trauma and danger they're just clinging to each other. But I also don't know if I'll ever work on it again because there is SO MUCH LORE I have to remember and Star Wars fans are scary if you get lore wrong. XD But also for them to still be a ship in canon/fix-it they would need. SO MANY TALKS AND THERAPY.
Morwen/Telemain meanwhile is a ship I do hold fairly close to my heart; Telemain is a character I just love, he annoys the hell out of everyone with all his technical magical talk and I feel so seen by it because same, friend, same. I'd like to write more with them eventually, and I did start a multichapter back in 2020 that I'd like to get back to if my brain cooperates. I'd really like to explore Morwen and Telemain both diving into technical magical talk because I feel like she enjoys it too, just tends to remind him to speak a little more plainly when others who aren't as steeped in magical theory are around. And I also have a really feelsy WIP on the effects of the war on Morwen somewhere deep in my docs that also has some shippy vibes, but I've not worked on it for ages because it feels very self indulgent.
And if you look at my WIPs it's all Salieri/Mozart from Fate Grand Order, I have like. Nine in my docs right now, save me x'D and only one up on my AO3.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE ASK FRIEND AAAAAA
EDIT: I FORGOT the ask game is: here for anyone who wants it themselves/wants to ask uwu

Fic interview tag
tagged by @feeisamarshmallow thank you <3
Name: Lodessa
Fandoms I write for: Star Trek: Voyager (and other Treks sometimes), Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, Veronica Mars, RPF of various types, and an assortment of other fandoms too long to list.
Two-shot: Guessing at what this means. My Voyager series To Withstand the World That's What It Takes , the first part of which is basically just Janeway/Chakotay meta fic from Chakotay's POV of Scorpion and the second half of which is a PWP follow up to that.
Most popular multichapter: Parameters, my Janeway/Chakotay Resolutions fic where they had a friend with benefits arrangement before New Earth.
Actual Worst part of writing: Transitions and/or (non sexy) action scenes. Or maybe editing.
How you choose your titles: Sheer panic and desperation. Usually I end up either picking a song lyric or choosing a descriptive word.
Do you outline: For multi-chapter works, generally. Though my outlines tend to be pretty rough, change a lot over the course of writing the fic (remember when Parameters was supposed to be 8 chapters and then it was 14 instead), and not get written down until I've already written a couple chapters.
Ideas I probably won’t get to but it would be nice: I have a lot of ideas that live in my head and nowhere else, but I still have hope for a most of them, so let's go with a couple that are for fandoms I don't really intend to revisit (fandoms with asshole creators) though who knows.
I had this longstanding Wes/Lilah fic idea based around Regina Spektor's song Samson (which probably tells you exactly how old the idea is) that has a special place in my heart. Obviously plays on the canon themes around them sort of "corrupting" each other in opposite directions, and there was a scene where Lilah finds some pretext to go question that redheaded heiress girlfriend of Wes' (why can't I remember her name) as she tries to deny just how much she's spiraling when he comes to him, but also the idea of the two of them just walking away from their respective sides together (whether they succeed or not), giving up prophecy and apocalypse and "the history books" and just living their lives.
Another fic, which honestly I am probably far more qualified to write now than I was when I came up with the idea right after Deathly Hallows came out, is my Harry/Luna emotional affair fic concept. Basically the idea was about Harry (and Ginny) struggling with realizing that they never actually built a real adult relationship; because, they got married fast and had kids almost immediately and then suddenly the kids are all off at school and they aren't wrapped up in parenting and there's this empty space. And their non-kid lives are pretty separate and Ginny is away a lot playing quiddich and also just have a very full and vibrant social life. But is was also about the way that Luna just always seemed to get Harry and be able to see/access a part of him that no one else could. So suddenly Harry has all this free time and an empty house so he starts spending more and more free time with his old friend Luna, and having these really interesting and deep and unconventional conversations. And that seems all well and good until he comes home one night after spending time with Luna and has the most urgent sex with his wife he's had in years only to realize "...ummm, maybe it's not just friendship I'm feeling for Luna". No one is the villain here. Harry and Ginny have to decide whether to try to build a stronger, deeper, closer relationship, or call it quits.
Best writing habits: I feel like I have a lot of bad habits, but I'm going to say being able to pick something up way later and get back into it.
Spicy opinions: When you take a ship with a subversive canon dynamic (for example the woman being the more dominant one) and subvert that... that's not creative it's regressive. Same deal when you take a ship that's problematic (and I LOVE a good problematic ship) and remove the problematic elements... Just pick one of the many ships that's actually the situation/dynamic you want to write people!

i wrote something!!
soooo I’m a pathological “i have a fic idea and i’m never going to write it or I write a few pages and then fall off” writer buuuut I had this very cute idea and wrote 4k words of it! I wanted to post it here before ao3 because 1) not sure if I’m a fan of starting a multichapter WIP because I still may abandon it like my other stuff 2) i want feedback before i continue!!
here’s the gist: it’s princess prom except it’s a high school au and princess prom is actually homecoming. Adora is very happy and supportive of Glimmer and Bow running for king/queen. Glimmer is very, very passionate about winning. The problem is they’ve naturally got competition, in the form of Perfuma (who is equally as passionate about winning, for her own reasons) and her new girlfriend Scorpia. In a sitcom-style mishap, Adora sort of accidentally signs up to run as well...with Catra, Scorpia’s best friend who Adora doesn’t not have a crush on. The two decide to go through with it with the intention of getting eliminated from the race as soon as possible. Then, their friends come up with a different plan for them.
so, take a read below at 4k of stupidity and let me know what you think, and if you would be interested to read more :) (fyi there is a lot of swearing lol)
“I’M GONNA BE THE QUEEN!”
Adora shrieks, flailing her arms and almost knocking her lamp over in the process. She whirls around in her desk chair to face the intruder, arms raised in karate chop form (she does not know any martial arts), and finds Glimmer, who has flung her bedroom door open and has that crazed Glimmer look in her eyes that only means trouble.
“Fuck! Glimmer, you can’t just sneak up--wait, how did you get in my house?!”
“Didn’t you hear what I said?! Also, the door was unlocked,” Glimmer replies, kicking off her shoes and launching herself onto Adora’s bed, which she had just painstakingly made.
Adora presses her hand into her face, sighing. “I was kind of busy trying not to piss myself. Haven’t you heard of knocking? What if I was, you know...” she says, gesturing vaguely.
Glimmer rolls her eyes. “Please, Adora. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before. Anyway--the student council decided to bring back the homecoming pep rally!” she squeals, gleefully kicking her feet in the air.
Adora leans back in her chair, brows furrowed. “Bring back? Didn’t we have one last year?”
“Yes, but after the water balloon thing they weren’t gonna let us have it anymore, but it turns out that one senior who wasn’t gonna graduate did graduate so I guess they figured it would probably be fine, ‘cause like, who’s ever gonna try and top that?”
“Right,” Adora hums, thinking back to last year’s pep rally. Just before homecoming court was announced, a group of rogue seniors had risen from the bleachers, unleashing dozens of water balloons they had stashed in their backpacks. What ensued was a pandemonium Adora could only remember in flashes, resulting in almost the entire student body and the school’s hallways being completely soaked.
The catch was that the seniors had filled the balloons with blue paint. It had taken the janitorial staff weeks to get the gym bleachers, the lockers in the science wing, and the cafeteria ceiling (don’t ask) to look normal again. Classes were cancelled for almost an entire week because the paint had messed up something with the internal plumbing. It was single-handedly the coolest thing Adora had experienced in her living years.
It was all led by the legendary Mara Hart, notorious for sticking it to the man during her K-12 years. The prank had all but gotten her and her friends expelled, but given that she was otherwise an A+ student and no one could technically prove who was behind it (her friends were loyal to each other to the bitter end), she walked at Bright Moon High’s graduation to uproarious applause from her classmates.
Adora knew some of the more grisly details because Mara had been captain of the girls’ lacrosse team last year--effortlessly cool Mara, endlessly caring Mara, definitely part of Adora’s gay awakening Mara--but it had become something of an urban legend at BMHS over the past year.
“Wait, how do you know any of this?” Adora asks, because while she was personally connected to Mara in a small way, she hadn’t been aware that they were going to cancel the pep rally indefinitely.
Glimmer arches an eyebrow. “Um, hello? My mom’s the principal?”
“Oh, yeah.”
“And Mermista totally let it slip when I asked her about it after the student council meeting,” Glimmer adds, then pauses. “Okay, it was more like I didn’t even wanna be there and I wish no one had ever voted for me and I’ll tell you whatever, but still. I’m...” she props her face in her hands and bats her eyelashes, “in the know.”
Adora smirks and rolls her eyes fondly, turning back to her desk to shut her textbook and put her notes away. She can never get anything done when Glimmer’s around. “Okay, so, pep rally’s back--that’s cool,” she says.
“It’s not just cool, Adora,” Glimmer scoffs. “Being homecoming queen is literally all I’ve wanted since I was a kid. I thought my dream had died with Mara’s academic career, but now there’s hope again--it’s meant to be, Adora. It’s destiny.”
Adora had literally never heard Glimmer talk about this, but, “Um, okay.”
Glimmer huffs and dramatically rolls onto her back, flinging her arms out and further messing up Adora’s sheets. Lesson learned, it isn’t worth the effort for Adora to make the bed anymore. “My mom was the homecoming queen like a hundred years ago, and my aunt was the homecoming queen before that. It’s, like, my birthright!”
Adora lifts a shoulder, twisting around in her chair to look at Glimmer. “Okay, then we’ll just get you to be the homecoming queen too. Can’t your mom just...make it happen?”
“Ugh, no,” Glimmer sighs. “I already asked. It’s a student vote.”
“Oh!” Adora brightens. “That’s easy, then. Everyone loves you.”
Glimmer pouts. “I know, but it’s not just a popularity contest--it’s, like, a whole thing. Me and Bow are gonna have to do a talent show, and there’s a relay race, and other stuff that if we don’t do well in we won’t even get to be in the final vote.”
“Wait, what?” Adora doesn’t remember any of that from last year. “What do you mean, Bow? Is...he's running for homecoming queen too?”
“Ha! No,” Glimmer laughs, then her expression darkens, eyes narrowing. “I would crush him.”
“Right...” Adora says. Actually, Bow would make a pretty good homecoming queen. But Adora values her life, so she decidedly does tell Glimmer this.
“No, every queen nominee has to also have someone to run with them as their ‘king,’” Glimmer explains, making air quotes with her fingers. “There’s no boy/girl bullshit, but you do have to be in a pair.”
“I don’t remember any...talent shows, or whatever,” Adora points out. “I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of one of those happening in real life.”
“Well, obviously you never went. It would’ve all been during your lacrosse thingies and you would've been too busy making googly eyes at Mara Hart,” Glimmer replies, wiggling her fingers at Adora.
Adora crosses her arms and blushes a deep red. “I would not. I would’ve been playing lacrosse. And stuff.” Okay, maybe she did make googly eyes at Mara, but only sometimes, as a treat, and Glimmer doesn’t need to know that.
Glimmer flips back over on her stomach and levels Adora with a pout. “Adora, this means a lot to me. We’re gonna need your help to win this.”
Adora has no idea how she could possibly be of any help with this, but hey-- “Of course, Glimmer. Whatever you need. I’m there.”
Glimmer grins, eyes sparkling. “Yaaaaay. Also, my mom’s making meatloaf tonight, you in?”
Adora pumps her fist in the air. “Sweet. Hell, yes.”

“This is a joke, right? Like, you’re joking?” Catra says into the receiver as she shoves another handful of popcorn into her mouth.
“I am usually a pretty funny gal, it’s true--but, ah, no. This time I’m serious,” Scorpia replies on the other end.
Catra hoists her phone higher up on her shoulder while she adjusts her grip on her Xbox controller. “Okay, please explain,” she says between chews.
Scorpa sighs, and Catra visualizes her sitting cross-legged on her bedspread, hugging one of her many stuffed animals to her chest. “I know it’s kind of silly, but Perfuma sounded really excited about it, ‘cause I guess if you win, you get to pick what charity the proceeds from the dance ticket sales go to, and...I just couldn’t say no?”
Catra smirks, mashing a series of buttons on her controller as her TV screen lights up in front of her. She’s been trying to get past this level for weeks, but she’ll probably die right before the end again whether she’d answered Scorpia’s call or not. “You are so whipped,” she says.
Scorpia sighs again, but this time Catra can hear a smile in it. “I guess so, kitty cat. Still, it sounds kinda...fun? I mean, it’s more time spent with her, if anything else. She’s talking about writing an original song together for the talent show and incorporating her Tibetan singing bowls into it.”
Catra takes that in and barely suppresses a laugh. Her New Year’s resolution was to make fun of her friends less. Some days are harder than others. “Um, wow,” she says instead. “That’s, uh...that’ll be interesting. Do I have to call you Queen Scorpia if you win?”
“Oh, Perfuma doesn’t believe in gendered royalty,” Scorpia replies. “She wants us to be known as Homecoming Monarchs.”
“Of course she does,” Catra mutters. Perfuma is endlessly kind and patient and makes Scorpia smile, so by default Catra likes her, but otherwise they...don’t exactly share identical values, let’s say. Catra brings her own point home by pressing a button on her controller and chainsawing an alien in half on screen.
“Do you...think it’s a stupid idea? The whole...running for homecoming thing, I mean.”
Catra hears the telltale signs of Scorpia-doubting-herself in her reply, so she pauses the game. “Nah. If it’s something you guys wanna do, you should go for it. Fuck what anyone else thinks.”
“Okay, thanks,” Scorpia says, sounding lighter. “I think it means a lot to Perfuma. It would be cool to win it for her.”
“Well, hey,” Catra continues, un-pausing her game. “If you need any help, let me kn--oh, fuck!”
“Catra?” Panic sets in Scorpia’s tone. “Kitty cat, speak to me--do I need to call 911?!”
“No, no, Scorpia, please don’t do that,” Catra groans, tossing her controller aside. “I just got blown up in my stupid game again, that’s all. I’m never gonna beat this final boss.”
Scorpia sighed in relief. “Aw, don’t give up, kitty cat. One of these days, you’re gonna really give it to--what’s the dude’s name again?”
“Prime something-or-whatever,” Catra grumbled, reaching for her popcorn.
“Yeah, that guy. He’ll never know what hit him.”
Catra snickers into the receiver. “Yeah, okay. Thanks, Scorpia.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The lunch period at BMHS is, naturally, chaotic. Being a regional high school, every inch of the place is usually crawling with students, and the cafeteria is no different. The student population is small enough and the cafeteria big enough to condense into one lunch period, although Adora has oftentimes heard Perfuma lament about the ethics and health concerns of overcrowding.
Adora likes chaos. She likes that the overlapping sounds of chairs scraping and garbled chattering combine to form a comforting din that allows her to drown out whatever weird TikTok plans Bow’s making (ok, to be real, she will be asking about them later) and quietly observe the antics happening at tables around them.
She takes another bite of her pudding and her eyes land on the table to their right where Kyle, Lonnie, and Rogelio from her math class always sit together. Lonnie is mechanically chewing her gum as she stares into a compact mirror, examining her eyebrows with fierce concentration. Across from her, Kyle is holding up something on his phone to Rogelio with one hand and gesticulating wildly with the other as he holds a corn dog. Rogelio is nodding along but is staring down fondly at Kyle rather than at the screen Kyle’s pointing to, one arm hanging loose around Kyle’s shoulders. Lonnie slaps her compact shut and shouts something at them, pointing emphatically to her eyebrows. They all pause for a moment before bursting into laughter. Then Kyle drops his corn dog.
Adora pointedly does not observe the table across from theirs. She’ll gladly watch the Star siblings silently and intensely do their homework for the next period, or listen to Mermista fight off Seahawk’s PDA attempts, but nothing could compel her to look at the table straight ahead.
That table was where Catra Weaver and her friends sat.
Including: Perfuma’s new girlfriend, Scorpia Garnet; Entrapta Dryl, who was dating one of the Hordak twins (Adora was ever completely sure which one); the Hordak twins in question, one of which who usually broods silently and one of which who usually stares around smiling at nothing and everything; the stylish and blonde ruler of the theatre kids who has been nicknamed Double Trouble for as long as Adora can remember; and finally: Catra Weaver. Effortlessly cool, effortlessly gorgeous, effortlessly effortless Catra Weaver, leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, coolly regarding the rest of the cafeteria as she holds court at her table of wonderful misfit toys.
Today’s effortless ensemble: cool jean jacket, a cool crop top, cool black jeans, cool combat boots, she got a haircut recently so--
“Um, Earth to Adora?”
“Huh?” Adora says, jerking her head up.
This is why she avoids looking at Catra Weaver’s table. Or Catra Weaver in general.
“We were talking about homecoming,” Glimmer says from her seat across from Adora, raising an eyebrow. “You were totally spaced out.”
Adora clears her throat, willing herself not to blush. “Sorry,” she replies, digging back into her pudding.
“Glimmer’s trying to convince me not to run for court,” Perfuma continues, crossing her arms.
“What? Why?”
“Because it’s totally lame and stupid and a waste of time,” Mermista answers from beside Perfuma, inspecting her nail polish. She glances up when she senses everyone at the table staring at her. “What?”
“Mermista, you’re on the homecoming committee,” Bow says.
Mermista shrugs. “So? I said what I said.”
“Look, Perfuma,” Glimmer starts, sliding her hand across the table toward Perfuma. “I just don’t want you to be disappointed if you lose. Homecoming’s a really big deal to me, and I really want to win.” She smiles saccharinely, tilting her head at Perfuma, eyes gone wide. Bow and Adora exchange a look.
Perfuma smiles back. “Oh, don’t worry about me, Glimmer! I’m sure our classmates will select the most deserving and talented couple to win,” she says, then goes back to stabbing a fork into her salad.
Glimmer’s eye starts twitching. Bow slowly and gently takes Glimmer’s hand and slides it back to her side of the table. “Glimmer, we’ll do great. The most important thing is to have fun,” he says, patting her hand.
“The most important thing is the charity,” Perfuma mutters.
“That too.”
“Is anybody else we know running?” Adora asks. Glimmer and Perfuma both shake their heads in response, until Mermista sighs dejectedly.
“Unfortunately,” she groans, raising her hand.
“Wait, what?! You just said it was stupid and lame!” Bow squawks.
“It is,” Mermista rolls her eyes. “But the rest of the student council said it would look really bad if I was on the planning committee and didn’t run. I was forced against my will.”
“Isn’t that a conflict of interest?” Glimmer asks, gripping her lunch tray so tight Adora wondered if she was going to launch it at Mermista’s head.
“I don’t know? I guess not? I’m planning on getting cut as soon as humanly possible though, so whatever,” Mermista replies, flicking her hair behind her shoulder.
“We won’t win with that attitude, my love!” Seahawk roars, throwing his arm around Mermista’s shoulder and raising a fist triumphantly. “You and I are going to be the greatest King and Queen this school has ever seen!”
“Oh my god, please stop,” Mermista groans, hiding her face in her hands.
“Picture it: you, me, newly crowned, gliding down the science wing--the students stop and stare! Could it really be our King and Queen in the flesh? The teachers stare too! I am going to give them both straight A’s!”
“Please just sit and eat your sandwich,” Mermista begs.
“Never,” Seahawk says, then kisses her on the cheek and acquiesces, taking a big bite of his sandwich. Adora tries to hide her smirk when she sees Mermista blush a deep red. She elbows Glimmer and nods in their direction so she can see.
“Aw, how cute. I’m going to destroy them,” Glimmer whispers in Adora’s ear.
“I know,” Adora whispers back. “But try to at least be nice about it.”
“No promises.”
“Ok, I have to pee,” Adora announces to the table, grabbing her lunch tray as she stands, grinning at Bow’s groan of TMI, Adora!
She makes her way over to the trash cans by the cafeteria exit, waving to her friends on the lacrosse team as she dumps her leftovers in the trash and sets the tray in the dish bin beside it. She should probably go over and check in with them about practice tonight, but she really has to pee, which reminds her that she forgot her water bottle all the way back to the table and needs to refill it before her next class.
“Damn it,” she mutters to herself, still smiling at her lacrosse friends as she whips around to head back--
And crashes right into someone, their heads knocking smack together.
“Ow!” Adora yelps, losing her footing for a moment. She rubs at her stinging forehead, glancing up as she apologizes, “Shit, sorry, sorry, that was totally my fault, I--”
And stares right up at Catra Weaver.
“I...I...I...”
She blinks a few times, but yes, that is Catra Weaver, rubbing at her own forehead and fixing a few strands of hair that had come loose from behind her ears. Catra Weaver, up close and personal, who she hasn’t talked to since...
“Your forehead is fucking hard. And big,” Catra says, holding her tray in one hand as she narrows her eyes up at Adora.
“Oh, um, you too...I mean! Thanks? I grew it myself,” Adora replies spectacularly, and then promptly wants to crawl into a hole and never come out.
Catra raises one eyebrow at her. “How hard did I hit you?”
Adora scrambles to answer. “Oh, not at all! I mean, not hard. It was my fault. Are you, um, are you okay?” This is going amazingly.
“I’m fine, Greyskull,” Catra replies, sending a tingle up Adora’s spine. She goes to deposit her tray. “Just watch where you’re going.”
Adora grins dopily. “Yes. I mean--I will. Sorry. Again.”
Catra glances Adora up and down, eyebrow still raised, and goes to say something else, when they’re interrupted by a foreboding, familiar voice.
“Ah, Adora! I’m so pleased to see you taking an interest in student affairs.”
Adora turns to see Glimmer’s mom looming over them, hands neatly clasped together. Maybe looming isn’t the right word as she’s smiling brightly down on her and Catra, but she’s tall, ok? “Oh, hi Ang--,” Adora starts before remembering they’re at school, “um, Mrs. Moon. What’s up?”
Angella gestures between her and Catra. “I was just observing how wonderful it will be that Glimmer will have a friend to share the homecoming experience with.”
Adora tenses again, remembering that Catra is still standing very close to her. “Oh, haha, yeah, super great. Wait, what?” Sharing?
Then she notices that her and Catra are standing in front of the wall where the Homecoming Court Signup Sheet is hanging. A sparkly pen tied to the clipboard is dangling within Adora’s reach.
“Oh, um, actually, Perfuma’s already--”
“I think this activity will make a fine addition to your college applications, Adora. And you know how Glimmer gets,” Angella leans in conspiratorially, not bothering to lower her voice. “I think it will calm her nerves to have a friend by her side. A bit of friendly competition, even!” she claps her hands together, delighted. “I remember having so much fun with my friends back in my day.”
“But, I’m already on the lacrosse team...” Adora mumbles, scratching the back of her neck. She glances down at the pen.
“Oh, but you know schools these days, always looking for that something that makes a student stand out,” Angella says, waving her hand dismissively. “And don’t worry, I’ll speak to Coach Huntara about any scheduling conflicts. You’ll get to have the best of both worlds!”
Wait, but lacrosse was Adora’s whole thing--does she not stand out enough? Will she seem boring to UEternia? “I...”
“Oh, Ms. Weaver!” Angella says, as if she’s just now noticing Catra. “I didn’t take you for the...school spirit type.”
“I’m not,” Catra replies, crossing her arms. She smiles saccharinely and adds, “ma’am,” for good measure. God, she’s cool.
“Ah,” Angella says, creating an awkward pause before brightening again. “Well, still, here you are. Are you Adora’s running mate?”
So, sometimes Adora panics.
Look, she’s in a high-stress situation. The girl she doesn’t not have an embarrassing crush on bumped into her, talked to her, and then her best friend’s mom swooped in basically saying that lacrosse is boring and dumb and running for homecoming court will get her into UEternia. At least, that’s what Adora got from all that. And then she insinuates that she’ll be doing that with Catra Weaver.
So, she panics. She panics, and she grabs the glittery pen, and she continues to panic.
“Yep! We’re running together!” she says, grinning.
“Say what?” Catra hisses.
“Oh, wonderful!” Angella squeals, clapping her hands together again. “I must say, I think this will turn out to be a very interesting competition. You’ll have to come dress shopping with us, Adora.”
“Haha, yeah...” Adora says, quickly scribbling Adora Greyskull & Catra Weaver on the signup sheet. Oh fuck, oh god.
“Hang on a fu--” Catra starts, then clamps her mouth shut, because the goddamn principal is still talking to them.
“Oh, I wonder what you’ll do for the talent show! I can’t wait...well, I’m off. It was great catching up, girls!” Angella says, and winks, and does weird-mom-finger-guns, and then she’s gliding away as quickly as she came.
Adora continues to grin and wave awkwardly until Angella is out of sight, then she deflates. That was so weird.
Then she turns and sees Catra reach for the pen that’s still in her hand. Adora has half a mind to snatch it away. Or half a brain cell, at least. “Hey!”
“Cross our names out. Right. Now,” Catra growls through gritted teeth, still trying to grab the pen. Adora tries to hold it up out of reach, but it’s still attached to the clipboard, so the best she can do is weave her hand in and out of Catra’s way.
“Um, no? I just told her we were running!”
“Well, we’re not. Give it to me!”
“No!” Adora grunts, yanking the pen away. “You heard her--she’s gonna talk to Coach Huntara. I can’t back out now.”
“Well, I can!” Catra says, grabbing at Adora’s arm, where she has the pen tucked under her armpit. “Find someone else to run with you!”
“I can’t! They’ll want to win!” Adora says, twisting her body away from Catra. She’s having a slight meltdown over Catra touching her so much, but she’s focusing on the pen for now. “No one’s gonna want to run with me anyway.”
Catra mutters something under her breath that Adora doesn’t catch, then she snakes her hand under Adora’s and takes hold of her wrist. Adora stifles a gasp. “Wait, you don’t want to win?” Catra asks, eyebrow quirked.
“Noooo,” Adora furiously shakes her head. “No, no, no. Glimmer would kill me. She wants to win. I just, um, panicked. I guess?” The heat from Catra’s hand is searing into her wrist.
Catra glances down at their hands and back up at Adora. “So, your friend will kill you if you run for homecoming. And you just signed up in front of her mom?”
“Um...” Adora thinks for a second. “Yes?”
Catra huffs out a laugh. “Wow, you’re even more of an idiot than I remember.”
Adora feels her face redden, shocked at Catra’s casual mention of the past, and glances away. “Look, let’s just get eliminated as quickly as possible and then we can forget it ever happened. Deal?”
“Ugh,” Catra lets out a groan, leaning her head back. She tugs at Adora’s wrist a few times, finding that she isn’t budging. “Fine! As quickly as possible.”
“As quickly as possible,” Adora nods, finding herself grinning as Catra loosens her grip and pulls away. “I’m gonna take this pen home, by the way,” she calls out as Catra begins to head back to her table.
“Fuck!”
After Adora finally pees and refills her water bottle, she gingerly sits back down beside Glimmer. Poor, sweet, deadly Glimmer, who’s chattering away excitedly with Seahawk about some new music video or something.
She says, in a very tiny voice, “So, um...I think I’m running for homecoming queen?”
Glimmer whips her head around, nose flaring. She stands up, slamming both hands down on the table with a smack.
“You WHAT?!”
And then the bell rings.

Things We Lost in the Fire, ch 20
aka Caleo uni au
Fic summary: Calypso starts studying at a new university, but to her annoyance her new flatmate is a loud mouthed mechanic who also likes to sneak his dog in whenever. But as she learns to know him better, she realizes they might have more in common than what she first thought. Eventually, even the darkest secrets come out…
Chapter summary: The dorks have a talk.
A/N: 20 chapters and almost 40k words later! If someone had told me some time ago that I will write another long multichapter fic, I’d have laughed at them. But here we are! In honor of that, I’ll give you a Caleo centered chapter :D
Thank you again to everyone who commented the previous chapter(s), I just wanna let you know that I see you! And please keep them coming because I really really do love reading them. It's not always easy to stay motivated to keep writing a long fic but you guys certainly help me :)
Words: 1500ish
Genre: romance & hurt/comfort
Warnings: none
previous chapter / AO3
...
It was another Saturday evening, and Calypso was trying to decide what to do. Her stress levels were pretty high due to the issues with the people who she had considered friends (she still hadn’t managed to talk to Leo, only awkwardly greeting him when they were in the same space), upcoming exam season and a reminder that her financial situation wouldn’t allow her to live on her own much longer. That’s why one side of her really just wanted to curl up in her bed with a good book and forget that the rest of the world existed. But she had also been invited to a fellow history student’s birthday party and one part of her said that maybe it would be a good idea to get to know her co students better, especially in her current situation.
Debating her options for a while, she decided that taking a shower would give her some extra time to make her decision. After taking her time in there, humming some old tune her mother had taught her, she took her towel from the wall and noticed her mistake. She usually took clean clothes with her into the bathroom when needed, mostly to avoid awkward situations in the corridor with her male flatmate, but this time she had been so distracted she had forgotten. She had already thrown her previous clothes in the laundry basket and didn’t feel like digging them from there, especially since she had decided to go to the party after all. Figuring that the odds that Leo would be in the common area in that moment anyway were pretty slim - she hadn’t at least heard any noises from there - she decided that it would be safe enough to just use the towel.
Just when she thought she was in the clear and was about to step into the safety of her own room, Leo’s door opened.
“Um, Calypso? I was wondering…”
That was all he managed to say before his face turned as red as a tomato because he realized that she was only wearing a towel. Calypso wanted to make a high pitched squeal but in the last moment she managed to gather some dignity and just grunted, pulling the door in front of her to give her more cover.
“Yeah? What is it?” She peeked from behind it.
“I… just… um, wanted to talk… um, because I feel this situation is getting, um, ridiculous, but… clearly this is a bad moment…” Leo stuttered, not even daring to look at the direction of Calypso’s door even though she was perfectly hidden behind it.
Calypso sighed. “Yeah. But… give me a couple of minutes… Maybe we can talk after that.”
“Al-alright,” Leo agreed and banged his door shut exactly at the same time with Calypso.
Once Calypso had picked clean clothes and seen from the mirror that she didn’t look quite as embarrassed as a few minutes earlier, she told Leo that she was ready to talk with him. He too seemed a bit calmer, although Calypso thought she still spotted some red in his elvish ears.
“Sorry ‘bout that, I heard you walking in the hallway and thought…” He ran his fingers through his hair, not seeming to know where else to put his hands.
Calypso wanted to snap just to let some frustrations from the past few weeks out but somehow Leo’s equal amount of embarrassment managed to mellow her down. “Don’t worry about it… It’s not like you saw anything, anyway.”
“Yeah… I mean I didn’t! Ugh, this is not how I wanted to do this! I mean, to talk with you!”
“Calm down, Repair Boy,” Calypso said and with that one nickname she managed to melt some of the ice that had gathered between them. “Nothing happened. In fact, I’ve been meaning to talk to you too...”
“You have?” Leo asked with surprise, finally managing to shake the embarrassment off.
“Yes.” Calypso nodded. “I… Listen. I don’t know what’s going on between us two. I don’t know how close you are with Percy. But I do know whatever happened between me and him happened over two years ago and we only saw each other face to face one time, like I already told you. I don’t feel anything towards him anymore and I never even expected to see him after I moved out of New York. So if you’re worried it might affect your friendship… you don’t have to. I don’t have anything to do with him anymore, and I don’t care who he’s seeing, and so on. And if it makes you feel any better, I only told him about my circumstances because I had to. Not because I find him more trustworthy than you. And even he knows just one part of it.” She wanted to reach out to him, put a hand on his shoulder reassuringly, like she already had earlier, but she wasn’t sure how he’d react to that. Instead she ended up crossing her arms over her chest.
“Alright,” Leo said finally after letting the information sink in. “Don’t worry about it. I think I overreacted too. To be honest, I’m not even sure why. I guess it might be because I was worried about you? You know, you’ve been trying to help me with my issues but you don’t let me… us help you. This super mysterious ‘thing’ just keeps popping up so I think it must be a big deal to you. You can trust us. But I guess I just need to learn to be more patient so I will try that…”
“Thank you”, Calypso said, this time managing a small, reassuring smile. “I appreciate it. And I… I want us to be able to be friends again. If that’s still something you want. Even if you are a bit of a nuisance sometimes…” She smirked playfully. “… It would mean a lot to me.”
“A nuisance or not, to me it sounds like you secretly like hanging out with me.” Leo retorted back, his face lighting up like the sun.
Calypso threw her hands in the air dramatically. “Fine, I may actually enjoy your company sometimes but don’t go boasting about that all around the campus.”
“C’mon, you know I’m not actually like that.” Leo snorted. “What happens in the flat number 7 stays in flat number 7.” Calypso looked at him in disbelief so he had to add: “Well, sometimes I talk to Piper but that’s only because she basically has magic powers or something, nothing stays a secret from her.”
“I will keep that in my mind,” Calypso chuckled, but then got serious again. “Hey, are we good now? I mean, you don’t mind even if I don’t…”
“Yeah, it’s OK. Piper also said that I should respect your privacy and I know she’s right there.”
“Thanks,” Calypso answered, genuinely relieved. She couldn’t help but tease Leo a bit, though, because he seemed to like it as much as she did. “Smart girl, that Piper. You should start listening to her more often.”
“What? Are you implying that I’m not smart? I have you know back in high school I had the average of...,” Leo protested, put Calypso cut him out.
“Alright.” She lifted one of her hands towards Leo as a sign of stop. “I believe you. But you know what? I’m kind of hungry right now. Would you be up for some Chinese?”
“I… I thought you were going to go somewhere,” Leo said with confusion, gesturing towards Calypso’s clothes. He knew her well enough to be able to tell that when Calypso wanted to stay at home on Saturday, she was wearing her pajamas instead of a nice, white dress with some flower prints on it.
Calypso got flustered when she realized she had already forgotten about her earlier plans. “Oh… I was… Someone I know from the university has a birthday party… But truth to be told, I was kind of torn about going… and I don’t think anyone’s really expecting to see me there anyway.”
Leo’s quickly changing expressions told her that he was both surprised by her decision and also wanted to tease her to get a ‘revenge’ for her earlier teasing but for once he managed to bite his urge. “So… you’re going to hang out with me instead?”
“Yeah. If that’s cool with you.”
“I thought you’d never ask! Hey, I was thinking, we could…”
Leo started blabbering about all the games and movies and TV shows he wanted to show Calypso. Some of it went right through Calypso’s ears but she was still happy to listen to him talk about things that made him excited, and to see that they were capable of being the way they had been before the Percy incident. As they were huddled on the sofa eating their Chinese food while laughing at some funny scenes on Brooklyn 99, Calypso thanked herself for deciding to stay at home in the end.

Hey there! Can you recommend some good Haru/Baron fics? Btw, I've been reading yours and its awesome 💕
Sure thing, I’m always up for spreading the fandom love! I’ll be recommending between both AO3 and FFnet - our fandom is older than AO3, the fandom originated mostly on FFnet - actually, here’s a rundown of the writers who shaped the early fandom:
YarningChick: The Big Name Writer. Over 50 TCR stories. Her stories are actually what made me realise fanfic could be hella decent, and the reason I started writing TCR fanfic. Most older fans will be familiar with her work, and her influence is pretty wide-reaching across the fandom. Her earlier stories are predominantly fluffy fairytale stories, but her more recent stories are darker and longer in comparison.
Grignard: Was in the fandom about a decade ago, has mostly branched out into others now, but I still remember being hella excited when they wrote a new fanfic in 2013. 7 TCR fanfics, mostly fairytales.
fringeperson: Also was in the fandom over a decade ago, wrote 30 TCR fics. Their stories are mostly oneshots and short multichaptered fics - the latter either fairytale AUs or sequels.
There’s a big skew towards fairytale AUs, thanks to the influence of the early fandom writers, so that gets its own category, but most of the authors I mention below have written multiple stories for the fandom and/or are active members of the fandom. Please support them and leave reviews!
More recommendations of my personal favourites below the cut!
[EDIT: Tumblr hates my read mores, so just imagine there’s a “read more now” option here and not stuck in the ask.]

Now that Haru has become a member and joining the adventures she and Baron only grow closer. But what happens when a new kingdom comes into play? Not to mention a new princess? A Bede/Hop Fic Idea I will never write.
I have come to the realization that I can comeup with MILLIONS of fic ideas but never have the motivation or energy to write them, at least properly. I am willing and able to write them out as a synopsis but actual detail writing? No. (This does not mean I don’t plan to write more fanfics, but most of the time it’ll just be synopsis’s and ya know what? Fuck it, I’m gonna write them down!)
Alright so we start off with the fact this is Post-Canon, so if y’all haven’t finished the game yet do so before reading further kthx. So once upon a glorious Galar day Hop has been assigned by Sonia to go investigate further into the Glimmer Tangle to check up on different type of fairy type pokemon. He invites Gloria to go with him, and Bede has to go because not only would it benefit him as the Ballonea gym leader, but it would also get him used to his new stomping grounds. Marnie and Victor also wind up joining in, because only two of the three that are in that group are reliable enough NOT to get killed, and they don’t want to risk Bede letting Hop and Gloria do their own thing without a voice of reason.
Opal, being the badass regal fae that she is, also oversees this, and since there has been...a weird distress going on in the fae realm, calls in a favor of two twin fae that owe her (We’ll call them Fawn and Faye, no they don’t have genders shut up). She doesn’t want to butt into Bede’s affairs too much, after all, he’s grown enough to handle himself, but she wants them to at least bring him a protective charm, so at least he has a back up just in case. (At this point the ragtag group of five have already gone off into the Tangle, so she has to have them send it to them.) This should be an easy job, give Bede the charm, and shadow them just in case.
Of course it isn’t.
While the group is travelling, the twin fae manage to catch Bede off guard (probably inspecting a random impidimp or something), and whisk him into a small space that just has the three of them in it. Fawn tries to explain in a grandish manner why they have come, but Bede is having NONE of it, throwing accusations that he’s being spirited away and that he’s not one to be trifled with. While the two of them are arguing, Faye realizes that this is taking a little bit too long, and that Bede’s friends are wondering where he had gone. Unable to cut in and point this out, Faye grumbles and decides to do the only thing they can think of: They take Bede’s place. Hooray!(Not)
So now Fawn has Bede in a hidden bubble, who is pissed at what is happening but unable to leave, and Faye is now playing the role of Bede, which is going somewhat well, the others don’t have a clue...well, Victor does, but he figures it’s Bede growing to be a little nicer, and Hop.
So things are good, grand even, and then Hop has a brilliant idea. Getting the pep talk from Gloria, and Marnie to an extent, he goes to seek out Bede while they are taking a rest in the Tangle. (It’s been a few days by this point, they’re still getting research done, also why are there so many detours?) He finds him leaning against a tree and tapping away at his phone.
Faye is typing responses to Bede’s angry questioning, and also just giving snide remarks. He understands now what has been happening, but of course he isn’t happy about it, and is willing to go to great lengths to bother the twins, since he’d rather be DOING HIS JOB and not trapped in a bubble. Faye just chimes back that they’d rather be at home with their Haunter and not here. That is when Hop pops in. Faye goes quickly back into character, throwing a quip at Hop, and he just bristles and shoots one back, before he starts to stammer and start to get the words he’s been wanting to say for awhile out.
It takes a minute before Faye realizes what’s going on, as well as Bede, and hoo boy this was not Faye signed up for.
Hop is trying to confess his feelings for Bede.
Hop is trying to confess his feelings for Bede, in the middle of the deep parts of Glimmer Tangle, while they are on a research mission and there are different fae trying to sabotage their progress.
Before Hop can get the actual words out, Faye puts their fingers to Hop’s lips, looking down, before glancing up at him. “Stop. Now is NOT the time for this confession, so what you’re going to do is this: Wait until we’re out of the Tangle, and then redo this entire thing, but not as the stuttery mess it is currently.” Then they lean up to whisper in his ear. “Who knows, maybe you’ll even get the answer you’re hoping for.” Before quickly sauntering off to go bash their skull into a tree because THEY DID NOT SIGN UP FOR TEENAGE LOVE CONFESSIONS.
All the while, Bede is also screaming, but not because of Hop, but because GOSH DANGIT HE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG FOR THAT CONFESSION AND HE COULDN’T EVEN DO ANYTHING ABOUT BECAUSE HE IS STUCK IN A GOSH DANG BUBBLE!
So a little while after that, Hop comes to realization that, no, this person is NOT Bede (he realizes this by little things) and after a confrontation and an explanation, is okay with this not Bede, but is still hesitant. Well, throw in some more drama, research, and an angry rivalry between another old Fae and Opal, which came to a plot of trying to whisk Bede off by making him their bride, which winds up being foiled, and the kiddos are out of there! Finally!
At that point, Hop is just like “Alright, we are out, now can we please have the real Bede back?” Which Marnie agrees, although it confuses the heck out of Victor and Gloria who are both like “the real Bede?” (Marnie is observant, she ain’t a fool, she knew that wasn’t Bede the second that Hop said he didn’t actually accept his confession because she knew Bede also had a giant crush on Hop so something was up.)
Faye is extremely happy to oblige, and allows Bede to return to their sight, and he is relieved but still pissed, and Faye just gloats that they all got along better with them instead of him, and the two get into a bit of a fight that has them spinning around a bit, before they both look at Hop and say “You know which one of us is the real Bede, right??” Poor Hop is just like “Uhhhh” but then notices that Faye is giving him an eye signal towards the real Bede, and Hop just laughs before rushing to lift Bede up and twirl him around happily as he squawks in embarrassment, as Faye goes to the other three to apologize. That is when Fawn and Opal appear, happy that they have all returned safe and sound. Faye just is relieved it’s all over with, but tells the rest of the group that “hey, if you guys ever want to hang out, I’m down for that, and no I won’t try and trick you guys into doin some weird shite, lest I wanna deal with the wrath of Madam Opal.”
Before they leave, however, Hop intervenes and is like “I actually have a favor to ask of you.” And whispers quickly into Faye’s ear. A sly grin spreads across their face and are totally down for it, before quickly looking at Bede, who just stares in confusion and dread.
Cut to Hammerlocke, where Leon is currently hanging out with Raihan and Piers (who was dragged by both men in question because he’d rather be workin on his not love songs for the pair at home). Hop calls out to Leon, who turns around, happy to see his little brother, before his eyes widen. There stands Hop, with not one, but TWO Bede’s in his arms, and Hop is waving happily. “Just wanted to say hi bro, before I head off on my date. Told ya I could snag two partners just as badass and gorgeous as you did!” Before quickly placing a kiss on both Bede’s faces, and then the trio leave. Leon and Raihan are floored, and Piers is just wondering if they had smoked something before they left Spikemuth because what the fuck just happened.
Anddddd that’s it. This was long, but here we are. The whole idea as a synopsis. This could have been a multichaptered fic, but I would never be able to write it out without stopping halfway through. (I have only ever finished one multichaptered fanfiction, and that was over a decade ago, so yeah...) Enjoy this thing I guess guys. I might post more ideas at some point, not just for this pairing but for other pairings I have as well. Laters!

Day 1: Chess (Royai Week 2017)
NECESSARY EVIL
She would be the queen who would make him king.
Roy Mustang fiddled with his silver pocket watch nervously. His lieutenant no, it’s captain now – was late.
Fifteen minutes late to be exact.
Riza Hawkeye was never late…
…unless something happened to her.
The door opened with a creak, and the newly promoted brigadier general almost jumped out of his seat.
“I’m terribly sorry, sir,” the blonde woman began, entering the room with her beloved dog, “but Hayate’s leash broke on our way here, and since the pet supplies store was on the way, I decided to drop by before coming here. I apologize for not calling.”
Roy released a sigh of relief. “It’s alright, lieu – err, captain,” he fumbled awkwardly. “Sorry, I’m still not used to your new rank.”
“It’s the same for me, sir,” she admitted with a slightest hint of a smile.
He sat up straight and motioned for her to take a seat. “Well, let’s get to business then, shall we?”
She settled on the armchair across his, while Black Hayate laid down by her feet.
She inhaled deeply, as if preparing herself for the worst.
“Col—“ she shook her head, then tried again. “Brigadier General Mustang, may I have your permission to speak freely?” she requested weakly, so unlike her.
He nodded.
“Sir, I’m sorry, but…” Her right hand grabbed the arm of the chair tightly and continued. “I’m afraid I cannot watch your back anymore in the near future.”
Nothing could have prepared him for her declaration.
He froze in his seat, his breath caught in his throat.
For a minute or so, his mind went utterly blank.
“What are you talking about?” he demanded harshly. It was all he could say after recovering a part of his wit.
“Please don’t get me wrong,” she said steadily even when her hands shook as she placed them on her lap. “I’m not abandoning you, sir. I just found a better way to help you reach the top, that’s all.
Their eyes met, and hers were filled with equal parts of desperation and dread. He could only guess at how his looked like. He was a convoluted mess of emotions, and panic was slowly taking over his entire being.
“Do you trust me?” she asked, her voice so gentle that it calmed him down considerably, but not completely.
He kept his gaze on her as he replied. “With my life.”
Her eyes widened slightly at his confession, and he added as an afterthought, “…and everything in it.”
It took her a second longer to recover.  A sigh escaped her lips, then her explanation came afterwards. “Please believe me when I say I’m doing this for your – no, for our goal. Right now, I’m still working on the details, but I promise you, everything will be worth it.”
No, not everything. I can’t lose you. Roy screamed inside his head.
He tried to reign in his feelings, but he was failing miserably.
“What is this really about, Riza?” His voice was loud, but trembling.
Her eyes widened once again, but she regained herself in a blink of an eye.
Slowly, the corners of her mouth lifted as she countered carefully, “Which chess piece do you think is the strongest, sir?”
“Definitely the Queen,” he responded in a heartbeat with an intense gaze directed at her.
The direction of their conversation bewildered him, but he decided to indulge her. After all, Riza Hawkeye was a woman of purpose. There must be a point in all of this. There had to be or he would lose his mind from the confusion.
“…and when is she most powerful?” she resumed her questioning as she crossed her arms.
“When she’s moving across the board,” he stated mindlessly.
“Precisely.” A proud grin took over her countenance.
He raised an eyebrow. “What are you getting at?”
She ignored his question and started speaking instead, “The Queen is useless when she’s always next to the King. She, out of all the other pieces, has the greatest chance of leading the King towards victory.”
Roy tilted his head to the side. He already knew all of this, so why–
“One last question, sir,” she declared suddenly, effectively interrupting his musing. “Who is more powerful than the Queen?”
He scratched his chin before he voiced out, “Isn’t it the King?”
“Don’t you think he’s the weakest one of them all, sir? After all, he’s the main target, but can only move one square at a time.” She reasoned out evenly.
He let out a displeased grunt.
Riza chuckled softly at his undisguised dismay. She knew how much he adored the chess metaphor, and here she was, insulting the King who was supposed to be him.
“Fine,” he acquiesced, letting her have her fun. “Then pray tell, my fair lady, who is more powerful than the Queen in the game of chess?”
She regained her composure, then captured his gaze once more.
“The person who moves the pieces across the board.”
Her answer floored him, and all of a sudden, everything fell into place in his mind.
Riza watched as his eyes lit up in comprehension. He might not know what the actual plan was, but at least he had some idea who the players involved might be.
In about two years’ time, Führer Grumman, her maternal grandfather, would set the stage for her, and she planned to take the country by storm as the First Granddaughter. If everything went according to their plan, she would become the de facto First Lady of Amestris since she was the one – and only, he assured her – woman in the führer’s life.
By doing so, Riza believed that she could pave the way to the top for him.
It was a brilliant idea, really. She came up with it after reflecting on the events that led to the Promised Day.
It was her conversation with King Bradley, in particular, that prompted her to come up with this plan. She knew that the homunculi got away with what they had done for centuries because they were good at manipulating the perception of humans – of the masses, in the case of Wrath. They eventually stopped the homunculi’s plot and brought down the Bradley regime, but the system – as well as the institutions associated with it –  that Father and his homunculi had established remained.
And then one day, Riza realized that the only way to beat it was to join it.
It was high time they started playing politics.
In the end, politics was simply another game involving cunning moves and great sacrifices.
She finally understood why her grandfather insisted on playing chess with Roy. He was preparing his favorite protégé for what was in store for him the closer he got to the top.
This time around, she refused to become a passive piece.
She would lead him to victory and would do so in a way only she could.
She would be the Queen who would make him the King.
HAPPY ROYAI WEEK~!!
Soo... it’s a little rough around the edges since I was cramming so much a bit. It’s supposed to be the prologue for a multichapter fic entitled Playing Politics, which I was planning to work on maybe never eventually. I’m still deliberating whether to write the rest of it because I would have to ignore Roy and Riza’s epilogue photo (where he’s a general without the ‘stache please and she has short hair) for this story to make sense. Going against canon breaks my heart, but the canon is breaking my heart, too!! T__T

Welp since I’m being forced to take a break from studying I guess now would be the perfect time to continue writing fic. I think yall are really gonna like the stuff I’ve been working on. I’m gonna save this ship or die trying.
The royal AU is going to to my longest fic, maybe (including the multichaptered ones). 1192 words and it’s not even half finished yet.
Cross My Heart could potentially be great if I could just quit it with the unintentional cliches. The first chapter is TECHNICALLY finished (750 words) but I just want it to be a little longer. However... since I haven’t found a way to expand on it yet I’ll prob just make that the intro and start all over with a new chapter 1. I mean... yeah, the way I wrote it would absolutely make more sense as an intro... yup, thats what im gonna do.
The college au ficspired by my real life college experiences/observations...trust me, with my tv show worthy, drama filled, almost hallmark-like life THIS is definitely going to turn out amazing. Still havent figured out if it’s going to be a collection of oneshots or if it’s gonna be a multi chapter fic that i somehow figure out a way to bridge together, but...yeahhhh. Also!!! It’s still unnamed and that REALLY bothers me. Also I have no idea whether to set it at a school I’m familiar with (one that I’ve actually been to so it feels more comfortable to write) or if I should pick somewhere else and attempt to make it up as I go along. So that’s prob gonna take me even longer to finish the first part to the series.
College AU in which Allison, Derek, Lydia, and Jordan are all suitemates. And Derek recruits Allison to help him set Lydia up with his best friend since childhood. Will absolutely have lots of platonic darrish and I’m restraining from hinting at romantic dallison like I didn’t even know I shipped it until I started writing this fic and it accidentally made its way into my work. (SPOILER ALERT: It was going to be flirty dallison realizing they liked each other more than they thought while trying to make marrish realize their fate together. But I don’t even know. I want it to be totally marrish but wow that dallison was really great.)
I was working on that hurricane marrish fic where Lydia was away at college and Jordan decided to visit her so she didn’t have to be alone during the storm. Because they may have only been best friends but he was secretly in love with her and though he knew nothing would happen, he’d much rather know she was safe and had someone by her side because when has a hurricane ever been fun tbh. Also Lydia LOVES greeting Jordan with “deputy”
Old Flames & New Loves, which I’m considering renaming. Jordan mistaking his old high school sweetheart and his childhood best friend for being in a relationship and he gets jealous but he also wants Lydia to be happy even if it IS with his best friend so he’s all conflicted. Happy on the outside, putting on the performance of a lifetime YET internally screaming bc wtf does derek think he’s doing with the one girl jordan had ever loved in his life but also he knows he has no right to say anything since he and lydia broke up 10 years prior *cries*
Lydia, who doesn’t believe in love, meeting her son’s friend’s father and instantly being intrigued by the handsome stranger and slowly realizing it wouldn’t be so bad to fall in love again if it’s with the right person.
I was also writing an au/headcanon before season 5 ended about the hellhound and the beast being cousins. The hellhound and the beast were close as kids until the hellhound had to keep cleaning up the beast’s messes and season 5 was all about the hellhound being tired of picking up the beast’s slack and decided to put an end to this once and for all but Lydia was tired of all the bickering between the two because they were supposed to be family so she made it a point to make the two reconcile all while ending the beast’s temper tantrum. Buuuut I’m not so sure I want to continue since s5 ended so long ago. Would you guys want this??
I still have to finish that fake relationship fic I was writing (to forge & to hold) about Jordan trying to trick his rich, overbearing mother into thinking that he and Lydia are dating. But not only does she not like Lydia (I WAS THINKING ABOUT MONSTER IN LAW WHEN I WROTE THAT PART, OKAY?? lol), but she also doesn’t believe their charade. Because Jordan, who has been in love with his roommate/best friend from the beginning keeps being weird about the whole situation lol especially bc his mother and “gf” just cant seem to get along like ever
Hide & Seek still has to continue as well! Lydia (the Nev) and Jordan (the Max) as the hosts of Catfish. Lydia not wanting to fall in love again because she doesn’t want to hurt as much as she did the last time, so refuses to get attached. Jordan not wanting to fall in love with his best friend, of all people. The entire catfish crew, the client, and all of tumblr shipping marrish anyway lol. Also platonic dydia and darrish bromance. Derek is happy. Draeden is real, yet they’re only being hinted at, so we can focus on marrish without another ship getting clustered into the main plot
The Boy Next Door only needs one or two more chapters. Lydia moves into her new neighborhood and is immediately intrigued by Jordan, the man living next door, and his young daughter. Originally was a Secret Santa gift, but I turned it into what I hoped would only be 4 chapters but is looking closer to about 6 or 7
I want to turn this into fic too. I already know how I want to write it, I just dont want those feels so... lol prob not

Pretty much any lyric from Heathers can be used as a pick up line if you’re brave enough

Me: Oh, I'm working on a book!
Random Human: That's great! How far are you?
Me: Well, technically page two, but in scattered scenarios in my head, I'm practically done!
