Is it just me or are character on TOH strangely chill about having their privacy invaded?
Must have something to do with the fact that mind reading and body swaps are possible there. You need a fair amount of power to do so, but still. It’s something you’re aware of.
God, imagine bullies who are gifted in magic using that against others - or the self-acceptance that might just be a greater part of Boiling Isles culture. Maybe that’s part of why they’re chill about LGBT issues?

hi!! 🩷 i've been playing skyrim so much just for comfort and all i can think of is former mercenary könig who now has a farm and a huge house where you have a personal library and a garden and an alchemy table because you're his pretty mage wife <3
or könig who's still a mercenary, this huge scary nord who always has war paint all over his face even with a hood on, only uses two-handed weapons etc. and you're possibly just a mage who needs to explore a bunch of ruins so you have to spend most of your money to hire him and all of your courage to even talk to him about the job in the first place.

Ugh he def proposed to you under the auroras or when you were enjoying a rest at some secret grotto. Held an awkward “I want to spend the rest of my life with you” speech right after you emerged from a stream with nothing on (König stole a glance or two from the banks after promising he wouldn’t look, the big pervert)
He’ll carry anything you give him, and loves it when you make him a homecooked meal <3 Poses as a rough Nord but is always happy to arrive home after adventuring, sleep and fuck you on a cozy comfy bed that has a soft straw mattress with some mountain flowers tucked in it.
Is a bit skeptical about your magic and potions tho, König never understood those things and you dabbling with them makes him think you’re some sort of witch, soon luring him into a trap with your enchanting eyes :/ That’s why it took months before he finally threw caution to the wind and rutted you in the hot springs near Kynesgrove...
He just couldn’t take it anymore, his flirty little mage being such a tease :( Do you even know how many times he had to fap himself to sleep under the furs? ...While you slept soundly not a few feet away, unsuspecting and sweet? Always walked ahead of him so that he had a hard time keeping an eye for the bandits because your ass was swaying right there under his nose >:(
Paws itching to touch you, he especially hated when you sought out a tavern and started to chat with townsfolk or flirt with men to hear rumours. Either cheeky or far too innocent to be travelling with someone like him, you proposed that you pay for single room only and sleep in the same bed to save costs.
Sometimes snuggling closer for some body heat, you didn't get intimidated by the obvious boner soon swelling between you. You even dared to comment on how hairy he was, and fell asleep with a soft smile on your face, pressed snug against his chest. In the morning, you cupped his ass and he had to get a little gruff, warn you that he’ll fuck you until the bed breaks if you’re not careful (that finally got you to your senses, but only for a few days)
He always wanted to build you a proper house, a manor even, steal you away from all the diplomatic nonsense and dangers, he even put some coin to the side so he could someday offer you a safe, happy life away from all this. You could have your own chickens and leeks, he could make you a little alchemy lab too, you’d look so cute perched on some bench with your nose in a book <3 So imagine how his heart soared when you whispered 'yes' to his proposal, König was sure you’d just vaguely tease him about it as per usual!

Forgotten Grotto finally getting the recognition she deserves 😌
I’m already pretty keen on this pack even if not every piece hits the mark (the crystal tree is, err… a lot). This is what I wanted Realm of Magic to look and feel like—cozy witch vibes, charging crystals in the moonlight. 🥰🔮🌙
I am always excited to have a new hobby (especially crafting) and I think it’s even better that these are all made with the crystals and minerals we’ve been collecting since basegame vs yet another material collection. And it looks like we’re going to have CAS items buffing skill building now too…?
Also just as someone who took jewelry and metalworking courses in art school it’s so cool to see details like the hand saw on the wall of tools, the vise on the jeweler’s bench, the jeweler’s loupe, etc. 🥰
I’m sure there will be plenty of complaining (there always is!) and fully understand this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m really looking forward to it! 💗 and it’s out next Thursday already wtfffff

“Heeeey, Azul, we’re baaaack...” One of a pair of twins called into the seemingly empty grotto.
“We saw (Y/N) today.” The other twin mentioned.
“Oh, did you? What a pleasant surprise.” The octopus merman residing within the dark cave responded. “How did she look?”
“Positively beautiful.”
“Y’know, Azul, I have no idea why you’re so interested in her... she’s just some ditzy mermaid, what’s so different about her compared to every other mermaid?”
“Don’t call her that, Floyd.” Azul angrily said. “She isn’t just some ‘ditzy mermaid’, ok?”
“Whatever.” Floyd rolled his eyes. “Anyways, if you’re so into her, why not just tell her already~?”
“We’ve discussed this before. I have a plan.”
“Ah, and speaking of that...” Jade began. “I noticed something today while observing (Y/N). She had a scar on her tail.”
“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Azul asked... or, moreso demanded.
“Yes, (Y/N) had a scar on her tail. Quite a large one, might I add.” Jade explained.
“Oh yeeeeeeah...! Hehe, her love of humans got her pretty hurt, eh Jade~?”
“Yes, it did, Floyd.” Despite sounding somber, Jade had a smile on his face.
Azul was filled with rage at the thought. How DARE somebody do that to you?! Why did they think they had the right to hurt you- why did they think they had the right to touch you?!
“Floyd. Jade. Go find (Y/N).” Azul demanded. “Find her and bring her to me. It seems I will be enacting my plan sooner than I thought.”

You sat on a rock, crying. If only you weren’t a mermaid... if you were human, he would’ve loved you. If you were human, he wouldn’t have immediately called you a monster.

“W-who’s there?!” You yelled out. Two eel mermen revealed themselves, both smiling creepily...
“There’s no need to be so hostile.”
“Yeah! We just wanna help you~!”

“Oh no, not us. But we know someone who can.”
“Azul Ashengrotto~”
...you’d heard that name before. There were rumours of an octopus merman who went by that name. They say he could grant any wish you have... for a price.
“No, no... I-I can’t possibly...” You began to think of all the ways this could go wrong.
“No? Well it is what it is, I suppose.”
“It was just a suggestion...”
As the eel mermen slowly swam away from you, you began considering things. Yes, things could obviously go wrong, but... if he can grant any wish you have, then...
“Wait-!” You yelled out. The twins immediately stopped and turned back to look at you, an unsettling toothy grin on both their faces. “On second thought... please take me to him!”
“It would be our pleasure.”
They grabbed your hands and led you along.
When the three of you happened upon a cave, the two let go of you.
“Hey Azuuuuuul~! You have a visitor!” One of them said, pushing you inside the cave.
“Ah, greetings, (Y/N). I’ve been waiting for you.” A voice from deep within the cave called out to you.
You continued deeper into the cave, until-
You saw him. Azul. The octopus merman who granted wishes, not unlike the Sea Witch herself.
“I... I-I’m here for-” Before you could finish your sentence, a tentacle pressed itself against your lips, shushing you.
“Oh, I know what you’re here for.” Azul told you. “Poor, unfortunate souls such as yourself always come to me for one reason.” He placed a hand on his chest. “You need my help.”
“I do...” You admitted. “I... I want you to make me human!”
“...excuse me? You want to become human? You... don’t want to get back at those who hurt you?”
“If I was a human, then he’d love me... I’m sure of it.” You explained. “So all I want from you is to turn me into a human!”
“Well, Angelfish, that’s a bit of a tall ask...” Azul paused for a moment. “But just for you, I can find a way to make it happen!”
“Y-you can?!”
“Why of course! Though... I will need adequate payment.” He explained. “You can’t get something for nothing, you know!”
“Oh, but I don’t have any m-”
“Don’t you worry your pretty little head off, (Y/N)! I’m not asking for money.” Azul got very close to you... a bit too close. He placed a hand on your chin. “I want your voice.”
“My voice...?”
“So, (Y/N), this is the deal.” Azul backed away from you, a magical golden contract scroll appearing above his hand. “I will make you a potion that will turn you into a human for three days. In that time, you are to get that human you like so much to fall in love with you, all without your voice, understand? If you can do that, then you’ll remain human permanently. But if not, well... you’ll turn back into a mermaid. And you will belong to me.”
“Can I really do that without talking to him...?”
“Why of course you can! I believe in you, (Y/N)!”
The part of the contract that stood out the most to you was the ominous “For all eternity.” at the bottom. Azul handed you a pen made of the skeleton of a small fish.
"Have we got a deal, (Y/N)~?"
Your eyes scanned the golden contract as Azul began preparing your potion, showing he fully expected you to agree to his deal. He hummed a tune to himself as he did.
You grabbed the fish pen tightly. All of your dreams can come true if only you sign the scroll...
Without hesitating any further, you wrote your name on the dotted line.
"You signed? Perfect! Then, It's a Deal!"
It felt so strange when the deal was completed. It felt like your voice was literally sucked out from your throat. And suddenly, you no longer had a tail. Instead, where it once was, there were a pair of legs.
And soon after that, you could no longer breathe the water.
"Jade, Floyd, bring her to the surface. We wouldn't want her drowning before she can attempt to finish the deal now, would we~?"
"Of course." "Will do~!"

The days are not unlike crashing waves. They come and go in a second; before you know it they're gone. An unfortunate truth for someone on a time limit.

Two days came and went. You had made no progress with the human you loved... there's no way you can complete your end of the bargain!
These past two days, you've noticed that the sea tends to calm you down when you're panicking. Makes sense, seeing as you were born there. So you were looking out at the sea, watching the sunset... watching the time draw ever nearer. As you panicked, you failed to notice someone walk up you you. A human man with silver hair and glasses...
"Excuse me, are you alright?" He asked. You shook your head no, starting to tear up. "Well, what's wrong?"
You tried talking, but no matter how loud you tried to scream, nothing came out.
"Oh, can you not speak? My apologies." He sat down beside you. "My name's Vance. I can accompany you, if you'd like." You nodded, and wiped your tears. "I've seen you around here recently. By the looks of things, you like that fisherman, yes? Unfortunately, he's already married."
He's married? That human you entered this contract for is married?
All of this has been for nothing.
"Huh? What's wrong, Angelfish?" Vance asked you. "There's no need to cry! Sure, you may not get to have that guy, but... you could always have me."
Vance gave you a tight hug... but something didn't seem quite right. "Angelfish"... hasn't someone called you that before...?
That was when you realized. You pushed him away from you, standing up and stumbling slightly backwards.
"Oh. So you noticed, did you?" He asked. "Well, it's a good thing we're near the sea, (Y/N)... your time is up!"
You watched as 'Vance' transformed into exactly who you thought he was.
Azul grabbed you, with his arms and tentacles, and pulled you into the water with him. You were worried you'd drown, but found yourself being able to breathe in the water, leading you to a horrible realization: your time really had run out.
"You and I will have a wonderful life together, (Y/N)." Your face was pressed tightly against Azul's chest, and with his multiple limbs holding you, there was no way you could get out of this hug. "We will love each other for all eternity... just as I had wanted."

TTSBC lore ask! You talk a bunch about courting customs, but what about formal ceremonies like the Doctho wedding? How common are they, do they differ among species like courting does, are they similar to topside weddings or completely different? Or did Doc and Etho just kinda make it up as they went along like everything else lol?
The weddings are pretty similar to topside weddings all things considered! I mean, at Doc and Etho's wedding, Pearl was the 'flower' girl but because they don't have typical flowers in the under-city, she threw glowberry leaves instead! But yeah, it's a pretty similar event, just with some more under-city flair! Popular locations for under-city weddings are grottos off the main cavern, and witches actually make some money on the side by growing over wedding or event venues with moss and glow berries and other stuff to make them pretty! For all intents and purposes the Doctho wedding was pretty standard, they didn't go toooo wild, and they kept it pretty small! Of course the avian trio was there, so was Tango, Cleo, and Bdubs!

Live Action Ariel: Remember how Eric's statue was made of stone, so it was really bizarre how it ended up in my grotto? Now it's made of hollow metal, so I was able to carry it there myself!
Me: Huh, I always wondered about that! That's a neat way of handling it.
Live Action Ursula: And remember how Ariel signed her name to seal our contract, but didn't think to write down an explanation for Eric?
Me: Umm...I kind of assumed it was meant as a visual emphasis, signifying Ariel's literal 'deal with the Devil'-
Live Action Ursula: Yeah, so now instead she has to give me one of her scales and some of her blood to make the deal!
Me: All right, that's actually a nice nod to the original fairy tale, where the sea witch uses some of her own blood to make the potion.
Live Action Ursula: And!!! To solve the problem of Ariel only wanting Eric to kiss her in order to remain human permanently-
Me: Well, I'm sure it wasn't just that; and even if it was, it's somewhat justified since you outright said she'd belong to you if she failed-
Live Action Ursula: -I'm going to cast a spell on her so that she doesn't remember that she needs Eric to kiss her!!!
Me: ...okay. That's a bit clunky with the way you explained it, but whatever, you're expositing to your eels.

The Witch of Fathomless Grottos. It is in his nature to act as a bystander. Through the monitors of millions across the globe, he observes the ever-changing landscape of the outside world and listens to the population's ever-fleeting panic and fears. Deep within the trenches and amongst these luminescent gemstones that is deemed to be his home, he was forced to thrive; his presence marked by these shattered jewels and the ashes still scattering within the air.
In pursuit of fueling the people's curiosity, desire for answers regarding his true nature, and their devotion to him alone, the witch is ever-so cautious and methodical as to keep himself distant- yet close enough to make his presence known and his awareness perceivable. His gaze alone is enough to turn the veins of those he surrounds to ice.

Barrier appearance:
Ah, what better place that would perfectly depict Herobrine as the present witness that he is than through the countless screens he has been viewed on? Throughout the winding caverns overtaken by withering roots, numerous TV and computer screens are scattered on the walls and have even fallen to the ground; never to be picked up again. Most of the monitors display static, but, once you look closely, you manage to see a figure standing in the distance amidst a sea of fog; a silhouette of someone so familiar, yet so unrecognizable.
You've felt as though you're being watched ever since you've entered this labyrinth; the presence of someone behind you taking note of your every movement only became more imposing over time. No matter how many times you've turned your back just to find nothing there, your mind still insists on keeping an eye behind you at all times.

As of this post's writing, we've still yet to find any traces of this witch's familiars, if they even exist at all; apparently, the witch preferring to let the humans he had captured to do the dirty work of terrorizing the outside world and creating altars in his memory. How peculiar; a witch with multiple familiars is a rarity, yes, but to find one who doesn't possess any at all is practically unheard of, especially one that is as ancient as this. What a curious specimen...

Is it okay to ask more child green thumb yuu, but this time yuu wanted to show their big brother dragons ( Malleus and Idia ) about this new plant they grew in their garden, and they show them a potted plant that Lilia haven't seen in many centuries as it's a exstinct flower that is native to the valley of thorns
They asked where they get it and all they said they found some unused plant seed that was in a box from the attic
The forbidden flower.
Yuu pulled her eldest brothers with them to their garden they're going to love the new flowers they grew! Their so pretty!
As Malleus and the others walked with the younger child they wondered what flower they grew this time. When Yuu put them in the center. Lilia and Malleus gasped seeing an extinct flower!
Lilia asked where they got this and they told them the ghost led them to a box in the attic with other seeds! They are more flowers growing in the back! As Yuu let them see the flower.
As they got a closer look they saw how it was black like the night with toxic green around it so beautifully dangerous. This was the same flower Maleficent grew as a symbol of the hardships she has over come growing into a dangerously beautifully women. Lilia only saw one when he was a younger bad and that was decades upon decades ago. It was called Mistrle fur Vilde Misstris of Evil. (Idk I tried to make it seem like fae ig?)
Yuu came back with more flowers that were extinct and the great 7 even made to represent them.
Vil almost fainted at the dark red and velvet rose that had beautiful black thorns! The Reine de la mort! The queen of death flower.
Leona looked at the flower that was almost like the sands of the Savanah with colors of the beast kings colors! The Scariaran flower.
Idia fell to the floor seeing the Eturna flower! It was a flower that was on fire that could never be put out, it was hades bride since it was one if the only things that grew underground.
Kalim looked at the Flower after the Hypnosis flower, it was a red flower with gold that could make anyone submit to it. And it can also be made into a antidote for any Hypnosis.
Azul looked at the flower in the bowl of water it was the Octavia flower? But it only grew down in the trenches? Even then it's only a flower of myth since no one could find the Sea Witches grotto! It was a inky black flower with purple looming it, with 8 flower petals that can change their size if needed.
Riddle almost dropped down. The Heartbeat flower! It was a flower with petals that symbols the long reign of the queen. It can be made into an obedience potion. It had 20 heart petals all blood red, with black and white for the stem and a golden like crown in the middle.
All the boy's looked at the younger child "Yuu dear where did you get these?" They smiled ran back inside and grabbed the box it had 7 gems on it that the great 7 forged and polished themselves. They all stared in shock. This child was able to bring the most extinct and myth like flowers before them.
They told Crowley, who then got a news station to show the world. Yuu was now the youngest Flower Breeder in all of the kingdoms. They even brought back the ghost flower that represented Ramshackle. A flower that represented Chenabog. And even more that represented so many good people from long ago.
And this happened all because they found a box in the attic.

I knew you were gonna ask ;)
And don't worry you're not the only one, I just heard about this very obscure thing today while doing my early post! In fact, when you go check the Wikipedia articles of both Michel Carré and Paul Collin, you find nothing about any potential work on a "Sleeping Beauty" production... The piece is however evoked, described and link when you go check the Wikipedia page for the fairy, Urgèle.
Now the source for this Wikipedia paragraph is actually a double link to two articles stored by Gallica - the online archive of the BNF (Bibliothèque Nationale Française, National French Library).

This article is from a newspaper called "Les clochettes algériennes et tunisiennes" (Algerian and Tunisian bells) from the 10th of January 1904. It was a Franco-Algerian newspaper about literature, humor and commercial business published every sunday. In the "Theatrical Week" segment you can read that an "opéra féerique" (fairy-opera, "or so claims the poster" adds the journalist) had its premier at the Municipal Theater: La Belle au Bois Dormant, Sleeping Beauty by Michel Carré and Paul Collin with music by Charles Silver (who received a Great Prize of Rome).
There is a recap of the plot that goes as such. Princess Aurore (Aurora, played by Mme Rigaud-Labenz) was recently born, and her five fairy godmothers (Primevère, Rieuse, Brillante, Sensible, Prudente - Primrose, Laughing, Shining, Sensitive and Careful) call upon her health and happiness. The King, pleased, invites them to a copious feast, but suddenly arrives the wicked fairy Urgèle (played by Mme Corot). Angry at having been excluded of the christening, she casts a curse: if the princess falls in love when she is twenty years old, she will die. We jump sometimes later, before the twenty years are passed - the princess Aurore is wandering, sad and dreaming, in the palace's garden, but her father's reassurance that once she goes over her 20th year without falling in love she will be free from the curse convinces her to not take part in the various games and entertainments of her young female companions. However the Wandering Knight appears (played by M. Broca) - welcomed by the king, he finds himself alone with Aurore. He is very openly in love with her, but when she answers favorably to his advances, she falls in a deep sleep as well as all the inhabitants of the castle.
A hundred years later, arrives the Prince (also played by M. Broca) - as he arrives in a forest he learsn from a peasant woman named Jacotte (Mme Stéphane), wife of the peasant Barnabé (M. Vialar) that the castle he sees on the horizon contains a princess who will marry anyone that is able to wake her up. The prince recalls that one of his ancestors told him that, once he had kissed a princess and she had immediately fallen asleep. Barnabé, overhearing the Prince revealing this secret, decides to go wake the princess and become king - but he is too afraid by the forest at night when he tries to go to the castle, and after stumbling over a rod/bundle of wood, it suddenly lifts itself in the air, carrying Barnabé with it (think of a witch's broomstick). Right after Barnabé was carried off in the air, the Prince enters, still thinking about the princess, and in the fog he sees Aurore that calls for help and tells him she loves him. He immediately rushes to the depths of the wood. Meanwhile Urgèle, in her cavern/grotto, calls against the Prince all the spirits of evil, while the flying piece of wood drops Barnabé right next to her. Urgèle puts Barnabé in a royal suit and sends him wake up Aurore, while suddenly, in a flashing light, Primrose appears saying "Aurore will be free, the times are over!" - which turns Urgèle's grotto into a celestial dome filled with springtime flowers, benevolent spirits and butterflies. Despite many obstacles ("flames, monsters and gnomes"), the Prince wakes up Aurore with a kiss on the forehead. All the servants wake up, and the two young royals exchange love vows. The old royal garden becomes green and alive again, and the good fairies appear, with laying at their feet the wicked fairy, vanquished.
After this recap of the plot, the critic-journalist tells their opinion. They point out that "apparently" it was a success in Marseille and Lyon, while it is currently played in Alger at the Théâtre de la Monnaie. According to the reviewer, its success is due to the "scenic and féerique" part of the work, "because, in truth, the music is too rudimentary. It is a musical dictation carefully written by an applied student, without any spelling or grammar mistakes. M. Silver is a Prize of Rome, which means he knows the technique of his art in a deep way. Unfortunately, he is missing something that is not demande for the examinations: inspiration. Not everybody can have genius, but M. Silver reveals himself as a beginner talent who under-uses his own work. Among four acts and one prologue, not one dominant moment, not one spark that makes the well-tooled orchestra alive. The author aimed at a too great simplicity, and comes off with a too-great naivety. And yet isn't the musical formula smoothly handled by M. Silver the best way to strongly express spontaneous feelings?"
The reviewer than says the actors really did their best to portray the characters - Mme Rigaud-Labenz and M. Broca were, "as usual" a triumph and only deserve a flood of praise - while the other characters were "episodic", and were "correctly held". In conclusion "the staging was very entertaining, and the play deserves to be seen". And the reviewer's name is "Frontin"
[As a personal note, the sources keep oscillating between calling this an opera and a theater play... In fact, Frontin clearly seems to call this a play, even pointing out with some irony that the work claims itself to be an opera.]

Dolmenwood uses a lightly customised version of the acclaimed Old-School Essentials rules system, tailored to Dolmenwood and with some major quality-of-life upgrades. Players of all editions of Dungeons & Dragons will find the Dolmenwood rules very familiar.
Ability Scores: Roll for 6 ability scores: Strength, Intelligence, Wisdom, Dexterity, Constitution, Charisma.
Kindred, Class, and Level: 6 kindreds, 9 classes, levels 1–15.
Hit Points (HP): Roll 1d4, 1d6, or 1d8 (determined by Class) for HP. Re-roll 1s or 2s. 0 HP is dead!

Etched into the walls of the Red Grotto, stoic beneath the dripping walls and calcified creeper that drape the ancient parts of the cave system beneath the mountain, markings made by nimble Nightbrother fingers tell a story in pictures:
A zabrak descended from the cliffside, a crown of horns on his head, to be bathed in the springs by careful hands of his consorts, reborn and renewed after the hunt.  
The drawings, etched in hydraatis acid, have withstood three millennia of change above, from witches to the Nightsisters to their Brothers’ reclaiming, and yet remain:
This is Dathomir, at its deepest heart.
And like the darkness that gathers here, where the whispers of ancient voices can still be heard when the waters are stirred, some things endure:
The ritual has never changed.
But the King will reign once more.
The Red Grotto, Dathomir —
There’s no one here. 
That’s your first thought after tripping down the last set of spiralling stone stairs and nearly upending the tray of salts and oils and soaps you were tasked to bring into the bathing chambers, expecting his return from the westernmost swamps from a rancor hunt. As if anyone did that anymore. More ritual and pomp, you thought. Something to appease the halls full of guests from the syndicates because some traditions kept the kitchens staffed and everyone else fed, but —
No one expected he’d actually go through with that ancient Dathomiri custom: a rancor hunt to feed a full hall of people but also to demonstrate a Nightbrother’s prowess; his virility.
The thing is… you’ve heard rumours about him:
How he was split in half from the waist down years ago by an adversary in a battle that ended with his supposed death. He came back, didn’t he? Just like he came back to Dathomir after so many years. 
You let out a breath, taking in the dripping walls overtaken by vines and leaves that appear to breathe and shiver in the dim brazier light; the enormous bathing pools of various temperatures fed by the springs, some steaming and murky, others cool and wafting mist. Only the patter of the waterfall on stone on the grottos edges settle your nerves. The sound is unending; a constant rainfall under the phosphor of glowworms clinging to the foliage draping from the ceilings.
It’s beautiful. Too quiet, almost, because you know the ichor has been restless since he got here. Too serene for its new owner.
Now here you are and here he isn’t.
The ‘him’ in question isn’t so much a man as he is a monster, or so his renown would suggest: the new leader and face of the Dawn who’d set up operations on his homeworld, along with a retinue who’d attend him, and all his little syndicate minions.
You took your occupation and the handsome pay that came with it with the understanding that your service required a combination of discretion, secrecy, and decorum. You’ve never met him. You’ve only heard the stories:
The Son of Dathomir is indifferent to the pleasures of the consorts the Black Sun brought with them, and he has no mind for leisurely decadence like dining or drinking or even bathing in the ceremonial waters below the mountain. 
A King is still a king if only in name, you remind yourself. Even if he is a bloodthirsty monster.
You set down your tray. The bottles tink together, and you scrunch your nose at the luxury. You’re familiar with all of them: mixtures with various potencies to ease aching muscles and render someone euphoric, to cool the skin and to warm it, and a special salve made especially for legs built from durasteel: a mixture to ensure fluidity in the joints and protect it from the humidity. 
You blended it yourself on the twelfth moon, with ingredients fresh from the apothecary in the Night Market. It’s perfect. It’s precious. Picking it up, the ointment coats the inside of the transparisteel, as thick and potent as the night you prepared it. 
A little gift meant for someone half-cybernetic. 
A token. A thank you. Not to curry favour, but…
Dathomir hasn’t been the same since he returned, you think.
In many ways, with so many new faces — laughter in the hallways and revels waking the daylight on so many evenings — it’s better. Different, but alive again.
Sighing, you replace the jar, thinking about wasted ingredients and wasted time. 
Silly tokens.
Silly girl, you think. 
This is stupid — this fear, this nervousness.
