grocery shopping (and shoplifting) tips from a cashier
DON'T BUY NON FOOD ITEMS AT THE GROCERY STORE. THEY JACK THOSE PRICES UP SO HIGH. laundry detergent, cleaning products, medicine, haircare shit- it's all better to get these somewhere else.
only buy the store brands UNLESS there's a sale on name brands that makes it cheaper than the store brand (but this is pretty rare). there's no difference.
most vendor coupons are shit, especially if they're trying to get you to buy more than one item. be really careful using these as a lot of the time they're not a good deal.
ignore the entirety of those drink coolers and snacks at checkout. most of them are overpriced and not worth it.
most store brand canned items and stuff like ramen noodles are super cheap.
FROZEN FOODS ARE SO OVERPRICED. BE VERY CAREFUL.
meat is expensive, and don't waste your money on any sort of organic blah blah whatever meat. it's the exact same shirt
same thing with organic produce, especially if it's something like bananas where you don't actually eat the outside. don't buy pre-packaged produce, it's not worth it for the exact same thing without a package.
check if produce prices are per pound or per item. they vary wildly so make sure to check so you don't get surprised at the register.
do you have self checkout? EVERY PIECE OF PRODUCE IS A BANANA :)))))
small stuff is was easier to steal than large stuff, obviously. don't try to fit a 50 pack of chex mix in your coat. it will not work.
most cashiers dgaf about shoplifting. managers do. stay away from them.
don't waste your money on overpriced expensive "organic natural blah blah blah" food unless you really have to bc of a dietary restriction. most processed food is more expensive and this just makes it even worse.
if the store has a membership card and you don't have one, always ask to use the store card. they'll let you, you just have to ask.
ground meat is cheaper and more versatile than whole cuts of meat. also make sure to look out for managers specials on perishable items like meat because they're trying to get rid of stuff so it'll be marked way down.
that's about all I can think of rn, add on if you have any extra tips

Grocery hall🛒🫶🏻
Tumblr media
Today I had to walk to the store in a literal rainstorm 🫠 but it was worth it for a few goodies. This isn’t my regular amount of groceries, just a few things I needed!
I’m a protein girly, I used to be worrisome about protein because it’s higher cals, but honestly it’s my new “safe food” protein is great for ur metabolic rate, it boosts it because it’s harder to digest and also it keeps u full longer! So eat up 🤭🫶🏻 and stay healthy.

"Shopping with a Bag of Bandages"
Tumblr media
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ➷ Headcanon➷ ╚» Prompt: 'Daily grocery trip with the bandaged man-child' ╚» Character/s: Dazai Osamu ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- » Dazai Osamu ➶ Dazai is one hell of a man-child, everyone in the agency knew this.. (reader) knew this the most since the bandaged idiot would always cling onto them. ➶ And by cling onto them, I mean literally cling onto them- whether it be grabbing their hand, an arm around their shoulder, waist etc. Or even just having a grasp on the sleeve of their clothes. ➶ Though (reader) ever since they joined the agency a little later after Osamu, well they just got used to his behavior in time. (Though Kunikida always offers to pull Dazai back whenever he got too touchy. Though the (reader) got it covered.) ➶ And well, Dazai's clinginess would go on even out of the Agency's boundaries. Like in public for example and whenever they found themselves in (reader)'s apartment for some reason. ➶ The (reader) at this point got another copy of their apartment key and just gave it to Dazai having had enough of them picking at the lock of their apartment and scarring the living shit out of them in the middle of the night whenever they'd just see them in their living room after they'd get up to pee or get a glass of water. ➶ Which is why.. they weren't bothered with the fact they had a walking bag of bandages with them in the grocery store as they bought what they needed. It was after all.. the day they'd usually always get groceries. ______________________________________________________________
» Scenerio
While the (reader) was in the dairy section of the grocery store they were in right now, as they checked on their grocery list, they would ignore the bandaged male clinging onto them right now.
The male's head buried in their shoulder as they'd hear the guy whining on how they wanted to check the hardware store nearby from here.
"(Reader)~ Come on! When we're done here can we please..! Go check that hardware store nearby..~"
Dazai Osamu, the bandaged male clinging onto the poor (h/c) haired person's torso merely sighed at the male's words as they'd walk away from the shelves of the dairy section as they'd place the cartoons of milk they got in the cart.
Dragging Dazai with them as they had their arms around their torso.
"Bandages, no. You're just going to go in there and try to find some tools to help you with another one of your suicide schemes."
This just made the brown-haired male whine again, and in their ear as well as they once again had their head buried into their shoulder as they'd start to push their cart to a different isle in the grocery store.
"Come on (reader).. I won't go doing that I promise! Please..."
As they'd pause again in pushing the cart to check and grab the things they needed in the current isle they were in, (reader) would glance at the bandaged bastard clinging onto them.
Huffing softly as they'd see the guy giving them those innocent puppy eyes of theirs, (reader) could practically see their eyes even watering slightly to add onto the effect.
Oh this bastard.. this guy was such a bastard.
But even then.. how could (reader) ever say no to that look of theirs? Though of course, they'd just suggest a different compromise they could do.
"Fine, but- we aren't going to the hardware store. Although, hm.. I'll probably regret this but I'l get you what you want in the grocery store instead."
Dazai would perk up at this, head lifting off of their shoulder slightly.
"Really?"
A pause, before a sigh was heard. (Reader) nodding to confirm they were being serious.
"Really, just don't go buying cleaning supplies and no knives, another thing.. you can only buy food items. Alright?"
Yeah.. they weren't taking any chances with the bag of bandages, knowing them they'd try to buy stuff in the grocery store that may kill them so.. food items were all they'd get them.
"Alright!~ Thank you (reader)-san~.."
(Reader) would chuckle softly at this, "Your welcome, also don't use 'san' at the end of my name.. it makes me feel old."
The (reader) would feel the male bury their head into their shoulder again, feeling the male's warm breath on the skin of their exposed neck as they'd finish grabbing the products they needed in the isle they were currently in.
They were about to push the cart again to head elsewhere before they'd feel Dazai's arms tighten around their waist slightly.
"Hm? Osamu.. what is it?"
(Reader) could already tell whenever there was something going on in the bandaged detective's head.. so feeling their arms tighten around them. Of course they'd ask if there was something wrong.
"(Reader).. is it alright if you cook me crab? Or that one crab soup you cooked for me when I was sick that one time.."
A very humble request, hm, a chuckle was heard from the (h/c) person. Reaching a hand over to gently comb through the brown-haired male's locks gently..
"Sure bandages, is that what you want to buy here?"
They'd feel them nod against their shoulder, smiling, they'd go on ahead and push the cart to where they had kept all their seafood stuff.
And as they were pushing the cart, eyes on them since they had a grown ass man clinging onto their torso for dear life, despite the loud sounds of the grocery store and the fact they were focused on pushing the cart to their next destination.
They'd hear a soft mumble from the male clinging onto them..
"Thank you.. (reader) for everything.."
Dazai Osamu may be a man-child, despite the fact he was also a very incredible and smart detective, and can be quite the suicidal maniac and pain in the ass to take care of.
This would never stop (reader) from taking care of them.. and of course, this meant it would never ever burden them to take care of the male.
Dazai was a.. complicated man to understand, some would even call him an enigma. But (reader) would always strive to understand them, to care for them..
Because hidden underneath all of those masks and layers they made hide themselves in, Dazai Osamu was something he never considers himself at times.
He was Human, just like anyone else around him.
And (reader) would always be there to remind him of that fact.

I was buying groceries or something and the scenery shifted into a forest. One of my coworkers, followed by a bunch of chipmunks and other whimsical woodland creature, hiked over to me. "Well, aren't you feeling suspiciously well-rested?" they said.
(I woke up abruptly and I had overslept three hours.)
