we joke about how harry couldn't get over dora leaving him after six years but here's the thing. a lack of closure will do that to you. its very likely she left without a word. and harry is someone who was told that he could solve every case, could find solutions, could read people and receive answers for every question. and she still left. he couldn't solve the case of his broken heart. and that haunts him, right, that he has this unfinished business and this perpetual cold case that he can't even interview witnesses for anymore because the only witness is her and she's fled the country. she's gone. and so he's haunted by this ghost of what he thinks might have happened, throws possible suggestions as for who killed their love for each other, who is responsible, what it was, and none of them are satisfying or provable or actionable. he cannot accept that there was a problem that he could not solve. that there was a person he could not convince. and not receiving closure, proper ending, is traumatic. to give yourself body and soul to someone and to lose them without an answer, but there are so many answers you have nothing to do but guess what you did wrong. and so the nightmares come back night after night because his mind is still trying to work out a solution and the only solution he can come to is that he is a failure. or that she's evil. or that she's perfect, or she's god, or she lied to him, or she told him the truth and it was too much. But there's nothing left but the dead heart and the body beating it.
“When someone leaves your life, those exits are not made equal. Some are beautiful and poetic and satisfying. Others are abrupt and unfair. But most are just unremarkable, unintentional, clumsy.” Griffin Mcelroy.

do you ever give yourself ideas that seem like they shouldn't take much time in execution and then end up taking up way too much time?
anyway we're back with the first real entry for thisisnotthenerd's d20 stats of 2024. this time we're talking:
cast appearances by episode count
season count is one thing; there's only 21 of those so far. by contrast, we've had 222 episodes of d20 as of 1/16/2024. by may 2024 we'll have finished fhjy and hit 241.
by the current count, the intrepid heroes' full seasons account for 128 episodes of the total 222, or around 57.6% of the total episode count. if you add the fantasy high oneshots, it bumps up to 59.4%, and if you consider that we're adding 20 to the count with fhjy, by may 2024, intrepid heroes episodes will make up 62.6% of the dimension 20 catalog.
anyway here's the cast list:
the uncontested winner is brennan lee mulligan with 211/222 episodes. 95% attendance. the only times he hasn't been there are: the 4 episodes of shriek week, the 6 episodes of coffin run, and the gencon mismag oneshot.
in second place is lou wilson, with 151/222 episodes. this is every intrepid heroes season (128/222), plus 3 sidequests (4+10+6) and 3 oneshots.
in third, sweeping her way with the most recent season, is siobhan thompson with 147/222, after the ih seasons, 3 oneshots and 2 sidequests (6+10)
in fourth, we have ally beardsley with 144/222, after the ih seasons, 2 oneshots, and 2 sidequests (10+4)
very close in fifth, we have zac oyama, with 143/222, after the ih seasons, 4 oneshots, and 2 sidequests (6+6).
in sixth is emily axford, with 138/222, from 126 ih episodes, 2 oneshots, and one sidequest (10)
and in seventh is brian murphy, with 130 episodes, from the ih seasons and 3 oneshots.
after this we have a steep drop off, since the ih episodes make up 57% of the total count, and will make up 61% by the end of junior year. anyway next is aabria iyengar, with 48 episodes, a little over half which she gm'd (26).
next is erika ishii, with 37 episodes. they've been in 5 sidequests (6+4+10+6+10) and one oneshot.
to finish off the top ten, rekha shankar and izzy roland are tied with 26, since both have been in three sidequests [(6+10+10) and (10+6+10) respectively]
the last of the three cree, in 11th place, is matthew mercer, with 18 (6+6+6) episodes, 6 of which he gm'd
after which is carlos luna with 12, though he's been behind the scenes as crew in many more.
13th is taken up with another tie, this time between danielle radford and becca scott, who each have 11, though their splits are different, since danielle has been in 2 sidequests and a oneshot (4+6+1), while becca has been in 1 sidequest and 1 oneshot (10+1)
after this we get into the mass groups:
with 10 episodes there's a couple of options for how they got to that point, but less options for 6 and 4
10 episodes: ify nwadiwe (6+4), lily du (6+4), katie marovitch (10), sam reich (10), raphael chestang (10), grant o'brien (10), persephone valentine (10), omar najam (10), oscar montoya (10), surena marie (10), rashawn nadine scott (10), and jasper william cartwright (10)
next is griffin mcelroy, with 7 episodes, because he did the RTX oneshot along with tiny heist.
6 episodes: amy vorpahl, justin mcelroy, travis mcelroy, clint mcelroy, jessica ross, marisha ray, krystina arielle, b. dave walters, jasmine bhullar (GM), anjali bhimani, alex song-xia, freddie wong, hank green
4 episodes: gabe hicks (GM), dani fernandez, monét x change, alaska thunderfuck, bob the drag queen, jujubee
and last but not least, our oneshot only friends: brian david gilbert, michelle nguyen bradley, noxweiler berf, and markeia mccarty
and that's all for this time! check out the spreadsheet to see where the data comes from and every individual checkbox that i had to click for this to be fully accurate.

why was gen 3 so full of fruits tbqh
i mean of COURSE there's Wallace and Tucker. they need no introduction, their fruitery is known
but of course there's more. you got Bill's "friend" Celio who looks like a gay Griffin McElroy. ("oh it's cool Red take my rainbow pass! I'm good staying on One Island! with Bill! don't think about it too much!") And let's be honest, even though he wasn't super fruity in the original, Tabitha was fruity as hell in the remakes. And Wallace's teacher Juan also def gives off some vibes, and you know queers stick together
and who can forget cipher admin Snattle. just look at this man he's an old fag if I've ever seen one! he's such an aged fruit you can call him wine
and these are just the examples off the top of my head..................

11 and 26 pwwwwws
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
Yes oh my god I would go insane if I didn't have anything to listen to... I listen to everything and anything, my default is looping whatever song I'm stuck on at the moment for hours and hours, but if my brain is in the right spot I just put on my gigantic 25-hour playlist and let it cycle around. When I feel really distracted I put on rain noises or kind of chill touhou arrangements, when I feel like nothing's working I usually put on a youtube video or let's play (usually some guy playing video games, for you I'll mention that anything by Griffin McElroy is a godsend for me when it comes to drawing lol)
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
hmm I think most of my art is like "aww cute souyo" so maybe this one of Souji feeding a cat?
I definitely got a few "this is so sweet"/"he loves cats so much" comments, but I was surprised by how many people interpreted it as him being sad... I think it's interesting that just hiding the face like that makes the interpretations sprawl all across the board (even though I just did this pose because I didn't want to draw his face LOL). The funniest comment was definitely "of course a yosuke pfp would draw yu being loving", guilty as charged
ACTUALLY... this one too:
purely because of this comment on twitter i got when i reposted it (?!?!?!)

So! I just finished The Adventure Zone: Amnesty. Great season, iconic characters, fantastic. And I was writing a bit of a crack fic when some facts occurred to me.
1. If a human is in Sylvain without a garment made of Sylvan wool, they go into a murderous rage.
2. Aubrey, for a not-insignificant amount of time post-Amnesty, lives in Sylvain with her girlfriend.
Now, these two facts intersect at a very specific spot: How does Aubrey Little get nakey in Sylvain to get it on if she has to be wearing Sylvan wool to avoid becoming a murder lady? I thought about it for a while, and arrived at the concept of the Fuck Socks.
The Fuck Socks would be a pair of Sylvan wool socks which Aubrey owns for the SOLE AND SINGULAR PURPOSE of having something made of Sylvan wool to wear during sex. Her leather jacket is too obstructive, and anyways, she can't wear it all the time.
Now, you may ask yourself "why not a more sex-coded garment, like perhaps a choker or a collar? Perhaps an armband or an anklet? A pair of tasteful stockings, if it must be a leg covering?" And I say NAY! Aubrey Little is a swagless bisexual, and more importantly, she is a swagless bisexual played by one of the McElroy brothers. A collar or a choker is too sane, too conventional, too played-straight. No, Aubrey Little owns a pair of garish wool socks that she wears during sex.
I have spoken to a good friend of mine who shares my affection for this series and he has corroborated these assertions.
For your doodling and fanart needs, for max accuracy, the Fuck Socks were custom made by Aubrey's request. They are bright orange, with one sock saying "FUCK" and the other saying "SOCKS" in dark purple block letters for maximum eye-searing contrast.
Do not tell me you cannot envision Aubrey Little, preparing to strip down for some reason, perhaps for sex, perhaps for adventure, and stopping and declaring "WAIT! HOLD ON! I gotta put on my FUCK SOCKS for this." Do not tell me you cannot hear Clint and Justin howling in the background while Griffin demands that Travis enlighten the table and the viewer alike as to the nature, origin, and rationale of the Fuck Socks. I have given you the words, do not tell me it is inaccurate.
