“ nothing makes me happier than seeing a plant i’ve grown from a seed produce a gorgeous bloom !! ” ;; @silverjetsystm
animal crossing quotes ;; accepting
Tumblr media
Greer had seen plenty of greenery in her time; jungles to botanical gardens, to the little hanging plant pot she had on her windowsill and oh shi—that was probably dead now. Had she ever watered it?
Point was, her own dead plant aside, she liked the outdoors and nature. She didn’t have the best of green thumbs herself but that also let her have some appreciation of people who could keep plants alive and thriving. And Marc (right, sure, mask on and that made him Mr Knight) did seem to have that touch. She wasn’t sure if it was therapeutic or he wanted to make some kind of a statement by having several types of potted plants around his seat. Like a throne. The thought made her snicker, which set off the tingle in her nose once more.
Greer turned away, hand over her face and sneezed. Probably not the response he wanted? Aw well.
Her sneeze turned to a burst of laughter which turned to a grin. “I don’t know what I was THINKING when you said you wanted to show me something, but a flower in bloom?” Unexpected. Even more surprising to hear the words ‘happier’ said in his voice. Funnily enough, that made her happier. “Look, I don’t have the patience for this. So I’m impressed. That was an impressed sneeze.”
Tumblr media
Was she going to tell him the flower stank? No way. Happy guy, happy life. This was a secret to take to the grave.
“It looks beautiful,” she had to admit, her bright grin turning warmer and softer as her gaze went to the flower once again. “It’s amazing you got this to bloom…” Everyone needed a hobby, and bringing a seed to bloom was a lovely one. It was nice he could still surprise her.

Fangs
Author: Sarah Andersen
First published: 2020
Rating:  ★★☆☆☆
I feel like I missed something since this book has such a high rating... I thought the idea was excellent and I liked the drawing style... but this is really just a collection of really lukewarm jokes.
The Fires of Lust: Sex in the Middle Ages
Author: Katherine Harvey
First published: 2021
Rating: ★★★★☆
After reading this book I was yet again amused at how little the ideas about sex have changed throughout the centuries. Perhaps because it worked the exact same way as it works now. In any case, this is a quite comprehensive study, that tackles its subject with much tact, a smile where one is due, and respect as well as sensitivity when discussing serious issues.
The Little Stranger
Author: Sarah Waters
First published: 2009
Rating: ★★★★☆
Reading Sarah Waters feels like gliding softly through a gentle stream of thoughts and feelings and even though her style is slow and thus her chapters are really lengthy, the book goes by surprisingly quickly. At first, I was a little disappointed because the "ghostly" aspect which had first attracted me to the story seemed to be just background noise to a family drama (though an intriguing one), but the second half of the book more than made up for that. in fact, there were moments when I had to opt for reading only during the day (but I am a scaredy cat so if you are a horror-lover, you might not feel the same).
Braiding Sweetgrass
Author: Robin Wall Kimmerer
First published: 2013
Rating: ★★★★☆
This is, in fact, an extremely sad book, because it shows us just a sliver of all the wisdom that has been lost as the Native Americans were driven from their land and systematically killed by European settlers. It points out our tragic and willful blindness to nature and the fact the exploitation of it will soon tip toward a complete catastrophe (if it has not already). But it is also a book that offers comfort, takes you into the woods and to the marshes, and shows you wild and wonderous things that are worth protecting. There were several instances where the beauty of the language and the message delivered drew tears into my eyes. I would not recommend reading the whole book all at once, but rather take it chapter by chapter when you need to relax and think.
The Murder of Mr. Wickham
Author: Claudia Gray
First published: 2022
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
If Agatha Christie decided to write Jane Austen fanfiction.... it would be so much better than this book. Easy to plow through, but frankly dull.
Pamela
Author: Samuel Richardson
First published: 1740
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I only managed to read this because I actually listened to it as an audiobook and I only managed to listen to it because Everand has cut me off from every single other book to listen to (if you know, you know). The story of the book is much more interesting than the book itself. The main character is a lowly maid who has made her virginity her entire personality as well as recording every single praise that is paid her, the main male is an entitled would-be-rapist and actual kidnapper who is not above hiding in closets and cross-dressing to get under Pamela´s petticoats. Had the book been taken more as a comedy and shorter by at least 300 pages, it might have fared better in my view. This is one classic you can skip and be happy about it.
Love, A Curious History
Author: Edward Brooke-Hitching
First published: 2023
Rating: ★★★★★
Of all the Brooke-Hitching´s books I have read so far, this one is absolutely my favourite. I just wished the text was larger.
The Arctic Fury
Author: Greer Macallister
First published: 2020
Rating: ★★★☆☆
This could have been so good. I mean: an all-female Arctic expedition? Female friendships and character arcs? The howling wilderness and nature shaping the human character? I was pretty hyped for all that. Unfortunately, all of the above is not explored as much as it could have been - and instead, the time and effort are given to a completely unnecessary trial. Reminded me of Where the Crawdads Sing in that sense. Generous three stars (for now).
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
Author: Maya Angelou
First published: 2011
Rating: ★★★★★
A portrait of a black childhood in the 30s and 40s south of the US, that is both engaging and educational. This is one of those books you fall into and distinctly feel are in it for the whole ride.
You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty
Author: Akwaeke Emezi
First published: 2022
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Interesting premise, but more soul-searching and relationship exploration over explicit and numerous sex scenes would have been more to my personal taste in what I like to read.
Terrible Tsarinas: Five Russian Women in Power
Author: Henri Troyat
First published: 1998
Rating: ★★★★☆
Easy and quick to read, even though the particular bit of history involved was truly messy, this is a book I would recommend as a bridge between the biographies of Peter the Great and Catherine the Great by R.K. Massie.
The Warm Hands of Ghosts
Author: Katherine Arden
First published: 2024
Rating: ★★★★☆
Katherine Arden has a unique gift of weaving together reality and myth (or in this case the supernatural) in a way that is very believable as well as lyrical. As if there was no question whether or not ghosts and apparitions were an indisputable part of our world. But the readers should be aware that The Warm Hands of Ghosts is, above all other things, a study and portrait of the terror of war, of what it does to those thrust into it, and poses a question if it is possible to ever go back. In this, it is far from being the only one or overtly original, but I appreciate the fact that many who would shy away from All Quiet on the Western Front or similar books might easily be attracted by it and learn something. I think the book may have been slightly more impactful had it been strictly divided into a Part 1 dedicated solely to Laura, up until the point of somebody significant coming to her in the hospital and only then introducing Part 2, in which we would learn about Freddie and his experiences, only then mingling the two. I read it in a mere 2 days, which also speaks to how much I felt entrenched in the story. I am giving it 4 stars right now, because of all the analyzing, but there is a great chance I will bump up the rating later in the year if the book proves to be one of those I keep thinking about despite their imperfections.

That is what I have always understood to be the essence of anarchism: the conviction that the burden of proof has to be placed on authority, and that it should be dismantled if that burden cannot be met.
{ EVAN MOCK, 21, BIGENDER, THEY/HE } Is that ARISTOTLE 'RIZ' MILLER? A JUNIOR originally from PŪPŪKEA, O'AHU / THE BRONX, NEW YORK, they decided to come to Ogden College to study PHOTOGRAPHY. They’re THE QUIET ANARCHIST on campus, but even they could get blamed for Greer’s disappearance.
----------CHARACTER STATS BIRTHDAY first of february, 2001 ZODIAC aquarius THREE POSITIVE TRAITSS observant, steadfast, artistic THREE NEGATIVE TRAITS pessimistic, reticent, wistful THREE SKILLS long-distance candid photos, natural hand at calligraphy, adept at digital manhunts (aka stalking)
----------ADDITIONAL INFO
GREER Riz only knew Greer from a distance, a friend of a fortunate friend: the subject of not-so-hushed whispers as she floated past the public school not far from her own. That all changed when they started at the same college. Riz became assimilated as part of her entourage, even if only as a background character. The new popular clique lived it up on campus while he documented their exploits. Always there, encouraging, a witness mostly missing from the proof.
HOW THEY EMBODY THEIR CHARACTER TROPE Riz has always kept to themselves, allowing others to make assumptions about their silence. It's not due to a lack of personality — far from it. The very few who have had the opportunity to get to know them understand it comes from a place of fundamental distrust. They were taught most people in the world are selfish and so keep their cards close to their chest. When questioned, Riz is absolute in his convictions that society needs to be torn down and started fresh. He believes there's no way out of the intergenerational trauma but to destroy the inheritance left behind.
EXTRACURRICULARS none
----------CONNECTIONS
★ @ollieinoue—  riz and ollie attended the same high school in the bronx. the pair took computer science together and had a casual friendship, limited to the classroom. they didn't truly connect until attending ogden and finding themselves in the same popular social sphere.
★ @defavorise— riz and sloane met at ogden and quickly began making short films together. she's one of the closest friends they have, although he harbours a secret longterm crush on the younger morrison. riz if far too invested in seeming detached to do or say anything about it.
★ @sassa-fiske—  riz and sassa had an ill-fated relationship last year. based purely on physical lust, neither considered the fact they were highly incompatible as a couple. sassa needed so much more from a partner than riz could ever give her. she wanted attention, he wanted distraction. she craved a grand romance, he craved for her to shut the fuck up.
★ @mari-zuko—  riz and mari have slowly got to know each other since starting at ogden while floating around the same parties and meetups. with both of them being on the quieter side of things, they have inevitably ended up chilling out in a kitchen away from the action more than once. there's a level of trust between them and riz finds themselves protective of her.
★ @isabellafm—  riz likes to take photographs of bella. she's a muse of theirs. what started off as a quid pro quo aquaintanceship grew into a friendship. one thing led to another, one session got particularly cosy, and before either really thought about it they had sex. this has continued, casually, and they enjoy spending time together in relative silence: riz flicking through new prints and bella reading. he's trying to teach her how to uncomplicate her life.
★ @jessehart—  riz thinks jesse is an idiot but in the best way. if anyone's going to pull a smile from their cold expression, as pained as it would be, it's jesse. riz enjoys coming up with zanier and zanier ideas to dare jesse with so he can photograph it.
★ @aceofportsmouth—  riz has been suspicious of booker since the second or third time they met. he's never been great at trusting people on face value and, with booker having a gloried reputation, they're patiently waiting for something terrible about the guy to be revealed.
★ @pi-mimi-for-hire— riz will occasionally let mimi shuffle through his archive of ogden shots, to aid with her various theories. he doesn't neccessarily believe the trail of breadcrumbs the amateur investigator is following will lead to anything concrete but he will take on the odd job or two. on mimi's instructions, he'll tail a student for a weekend, photographing whatever they're upto.
★ @aletheapierce— riz didn't expect to like alethea. in fact, they anticipated hating anyone even a little like her. they are a ballet loving swiftie and riz is an arty sad boi with a lot of pretension. but they do. they like alethea a lot, bordering on love. it's a case of opposites attract and while it's strange to everybody, their friendship is charming.
★ @leakywright— riz and leaky spend a few private hours together every week, listening to new releases and having a jam. riz is very shy about playing the piano in front of anyone but leaky now. when they talk, it's about real emotional shit they don't really process through with anyone else.
★ @bvwie— riz listens to bowie's radio show every week. being deep into films, they call in regularly, usually to set the cat among the pidgeons and remind bowie they should be talking about things that matter. it annoys riz that bowie is constantly trying on new personas and it probably annoys bowie that riz is so stiff about it all.

REVIEW
The Mad Women by Amanda Tisevich
BELOW: First lines of my reviews for the four books in this series – still remember them and highly recommend this book if you like dark twisty psychologically intriguing tales.
THE KEEPER’S CLOSET: dark, chilling, psychological thrill-ride that explores a rather warped interconnected collection of people and their interactions with one another.
THE LIE BETWEEN US: First words thought at the end of the book…OMG…Twistily Twisted! Couldn’t put it down and had to find out what would happen next.
THE WIDOW OF WEEPING PINES: Wow...talk about a riveting read with some crazy people doing crazy things.
THE RAVEN’S WIFE: Dark, gritty, intriguing story with twists and turns aplenty – a great GOTCHA moment and much to ponder after reading this.
A thought-provoking series with stories that drew me in, wouldn’t let me go, made me wonder, and left me happy I could close the book and not have to deal with the madness except through words that may linger after having been read.
5 Stars
BLURB
Four women, four “deliciously dark thrillers with jaw-dropping twists.” Book One: The Keeper’s Closet - In this house of glass, looks can be deceiving . . . Book Two: The Lie Between Us - This detective's secret will follow her to the grave . . Book Three: The Widow of Weeping Pines - Obsession turns deadly in a sleepy coastal town . . . Book Four: The Raven’s Wife - Julia Klein killed her husband . . . Or did she? 🖤 What readers are saying: 🖤 “Crazy twists you won’t see coming …one of my favorite reads of 2022!” ★★★★★ – xobookfairy “Absolutely brilliant, one of the best books I've read.” ★★★★★ - PsychoThrilla Books “A thriller that kept me hooked the entire time.” ★★★★★ – TikTok, City Vein Lights “A complete and utter brain-melter!” ★★★★★ – NikkisBookNook “OMG – WHAT TF DID I JUST READ?” ★★★★★ - Goodreads Review Don’t miss out on this binge-worthy box set! (Seriously, it’s the perfect weekend escape). Each story is a complete standalone – no cliffhangers. THE KEEPER’S CLOSET: Lavinia Greer is at the end of her rope. She’s lost her job, her friends, her home. Desperate to pick up the broken pieces of her life, she finds herself on the doorstep of a successful author who has hired her to care for his ailing wife. Tristan Carrington is perfect. His house is immaculate, his career booming, his body ageless. Looks, however, can be deceiving. Just ask the housekeeper, the ex-wife, or the shadow lurking outside the window. THE LIE BETWEEN US: At three in the morning, Detective Ame Bassette receives a panicked call from her sister Delphine who has just killed her drug-dealing boyfriend. Ame makes a snap decision—to risk everything to save her sister from spending life behind bars. Together, they go on the run but quickly discover that some secrets will follow wherever you go. After hours of driving, Ame finds herself lost in the dangerous swamplands of south Louisiana, where she comes across Gramarye Lodge, a run-down hotel with a sordid past—that may be connected to a horrifying cold case Ame once investigated. Soon after checking in, it becomes apparent that someone doesn’t want Ame to leave. She begins to question who she can trust… and if it isn’t only her sister’s secrets that are coming to light. THE RAVEN’S WIFE: On a frigid winter night, Daniel Klein was stabbed to death in his penthouse suite by his wife, Julia. At least that’s what the police report reads. The truth, however, is far more sinister. After relocating to a remote cabin in the middle of the mountains, Julia’s only goal in life is to piece together her broken past. But questions about that fateful night arise when Logan, Julia’s brother-in-law, shows up on her doorstep—with evidence that things are not as they appear. It soon becomes apparent that someone else knows the details of that night, and they will stop at nothing to ensure what happened in the dark, stays in the dark. THE WIDOW OF WEEPING PINES: Therapist and struggling author Betty Lou Abbott has a secret, one she keeps locked in the basement of the historic mansion she inherited from her late husband. Her fiancé, Ian, also has a secret: he is having an affair with one of Betty Lou’s clients. She thinks so, anyway. As Betty Lou’s life becomes intertwined with the beautiful, successful Carmen Marquis, her intention to expose the affair turns into a dangerous obsession. Especially when she learns there is more to Carmen than meets the eye. Caught in the middle of this cunning pair of women is Nicholas Stahl, a crooked detective who is determined to prove the truth—that one of them is a cold-blooded killer.

by: Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen Published: Jan 2, 2018 Genre: Thriller, Fiction, Mystery 346 Pages, Audio Book (HH:MM) 11:30
★★
GoodReads Synopsis:
When you read this book, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing.
My Review:
Figured it out way too early.
The story bounces between two perspectives, Nellie a young teacher with a full life ahead of her, and, Vanessa a recent divorcee who cannot pull herself out of a slump (i.e. depression), she drinks too much and has self-sabotaged her way into now living with her aunt and barely keeping her head above water.
Wildly out of control and refusing to listen to any sound advice, Vanessa begins stalking Richard's (her ex) new soon-to-be wife. She is late to work, drinking too much, and involving herself in their lives way too much.
In some twisted way, Vanessa has good intentions but, we all know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I think the two timelines and perspectives are supposed to be the big shocker in the end but again, I figured out that Nellie and Vanessa were one and the same very early. I also put two-and-two together to realize why Vanessa was so invested in Richard and Emma. Again, it was twisted but not shocking.
One-Word Summary: Predictable

The Wife Between Us - Greer Hendricks
Tumblr media
Title: The Wife Between Us Author: Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen Series: N/A Number of Pages: 389 Genre: Psychological Thriller Publisher: St. Martin’s Press Date of Original Publication: January 9, 2018 ISBN: 978-1250130921
I received this one from my boss. She told her it took two years to finish it and I see why. Not a good book. It’s not the type of book where you want to pick it back up and keep reading. It was a book I had to push myself through. They say it’s a thriller but really, it’s just a downer. I gave this book back to my boss and gave her a new book to read that actually has a much better message and storyline.
The entire book is about this depressed little lonely girl named Vanessa and how she was divorced by the only guy she ever loved Richard. He cheated on her and is now remarrying a new girl, Emma, and she spends the entire book stalking her and figuring out how to end their relationship. Majority of the book is just flash backs on her marriage and what she used to have.
The ending was the only good thing about this book. And not what happened in the end, that was okay, but just the fact that the book actually finally ended and there were no more pages to be read. She put in a plot twist at the end that was okay, but it wasn’t really believable. It was outlandish and not realistic.
The book itself was just depressing. Not a happy story line. Weak characters. Literally every character was unlikeable. From the weak main character, to the dumb mistress, to the abusive ex-husband. They tried to come out with a positive ending but even that made it feel like the book was a waste of time.
★ – If I had a chance, I wouldn’t give this book any stars. Would not recommend it.

Being the first film to win three top prizes at Cannes (Film, Director and Actor) couldn’t prevent Barton Fink from flopping when it finally opened stateside. Nevertheless, this remains one of the most fascinating pictures on the Coen Brothers ledger, with Joel and Ethan serving up a compelling seriocomedy that yields added pleasures with every repeat viewing. John Turturro stars as the title character, a self-absorbed New York playwright who ends up in Hollywood to write a Wallace Beery wrestling picture for a “B” studio r
ack of a whale. Pai displays all the characteristics that would enable her to one day become the village leader, but because she’s female, her tradition-minded grandfather (Rawiri Paratene) dismisses her from consideration, showing controlled love for her as his flesh and blood but lashing out whenever she attempts to step outside what he perceives as her lot in life. Adapted from Witi Ihimaera’s 1986 novel by writer-director Niki Caro (who earlier this year helmed the fine WWII drama The Zookeeper’s Wife), Whale Rider is above all a moving story about a young girl’s efforts to not only find her place in the world but also receive the deserving respect of a patriarch whose own stubbornness blackens an otherwise noble spirit. As Pai, Castle-Hughes delivers a clear-headed performance that, like the film which embraces it, never succumbs to cloying sentiment but instead finds heartbreak and hope in a naturalistic manner. Blu-ray extras include audio commentary by Caro; a behind-the-scenes featurette; and deleted scenes.
Movie: ★★★
FROM SCREEN TO STREAM (Recommended films currently available on streaming services) 13 GOING ON 30 (2004). Kicking off in 1987, this charming comedy centers around 13-year-old Jenna Rink, an awkward girl whose only desire is to be “thirty, flirty and thriving.” She magically gets her wish granted, waking up in 2004 at the age of 30 and not remembering anything that has transpired over the course of the last 17 years. For emotional support, she tracks down her best friend from childhood, now a freelance photographer (Mark Ruffalo), but as she begins to piece together her teenage and adult years, she realizes that she doesn’t like the person she’s become. Jennifer Garner is delightful as the grownup Jenna — she possesses the flair and instincts of a screwball comedienne, and it’s a shame movies haven’t been utilizing her more — and if her performance ultimately isn’t quite as moving as Tom Hanks’ in the thematically similar Big, that might be because the script by Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa (the husband-and-wife team behind What Women Want) doesn’t delve as deeply into the dark side of being a child trapped inside an adult’s body.  ★★★ Watch free movies and tvshows on VidooTv

un by a dictatorial blowhard (a funny Michael Lerner). Staying at a ramshackle hotel (cue Steve Buscemi as chatty Chet the bellboy), Barton ends up suffering from a paralyzing case of writer’s block. He also ends up befriending both a traveling salesman (an amazing John Goodman) and a Faulkner-like writer (John Mahoney), only to find his life soon turning into a surreal nightmare. A complete original, Barton Fink is edgy, innovative, and often ambiguous in its intentions. Although Roger Deakins’ exceptional cinematography won awards from all three major critics’ groups (NY, LA, National Society), the Academy elected to ignore it completely. The movie did pick up a trio of Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actor (Lerner), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (Dennis Gassner and Nancy Haigh, who won for their other 1991 feature, Bugsy), and Best Costume Design.Blu-ray extras include interviews with Turturro and Lerner; deleted scenes; and the theatrical trailer.Movie: ★★★½8 HEADS IN A DUFFEL BAG (1997). With 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, Joe Pesci seems to have been inspired by the monologue delivered by his character Tommy DeVito in 1990’s GoodFellas. “I’m funny how? I amuse you? Blu-ray extras consist of the theatrical trailer and an isolated music track. Movie: ★★ GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (2017). As expected, the entire gang from the 2014 smash is back, with Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) enjoying their newfound status as celestial celebrities. But after ticking off the members of a powerful race, the heroes-for-hire find themselves on the run, with Gamora’s sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) and Quill’s mentor Yondu (Michael Rooker) forced to join the motley crew along the way. Half of the gang end up on a planet alongside Peter’s long-lost father Ego (Kurt Russell) and his servant Mantis (Pom Klementieff); the others find themselves held prisoner after a mutiny by Yondu’s Ravagers. The jokey demeanor that informed the first picture remains, even if writer-director James Gunn forces too many gags. And as is the case with many superhero sagas, this one doesn’t know when to quit, with a generous 136-minute running time mostly felt during the CGI-choked finale. But the freshness of the characters remains intact, and the actors continue to interact in a manner that supports the story’s narrative spine involving the notion that family – no matter how one defines it – always comes first (in this respect, the series has much in common with Diesel’s other, similarly fast and furious franchise). Gunn’s scripting and Gillan’s performance bring unexpected poignancy to the part of Nebula, while Rooker’s excellent turn allows Yondu to emerge as the most unexpectedly complex character in the story. Blu-ray extras include audio commentary by Gunn; a four-part making-of featurette; deleted scenes; a gag reel; and a “Guardians Inferno” music video featuring David Hasselhoff. Movie: ★★★ KID GALAHAD (1962). What do Woody Allen and Elvis Presley have in common? Both have been treated right by the Twilight Time label, which has seen fit to release many of these artists’ best films on Blu-ray. While Allen fans have been offered such gems as The Purple Rose of Cairo, Zelig and Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * (* But Were Afraid to Ask), devotees of The King have been able to enjoy Flaming Star and Follow That Dream, two of the grandly entertaining pictures he made before his vehicles became too beholden to rigid formula and too affected by spiraling quality control. Now joining the pair is Kid Galahad, which originally hit theaters four months after Follow That Dream, thus providing audiences with an irresistible one-two punch. The boxing terminology is apt, since this one finds Elvis playing Walter Gulick, a young pugilist whose gallantry toward women earns him the nickname Kid Galahad. With his easygoing demeanor and warbling of several catchy tunes, Presley could effortlessly carry this picture himself, but that’s actually not required thanks to the efforts of an excellent supporting cast: Gig Young as Galahad’s unscrupulous manager, Charles Bronson as his trainer, Joan Blackman as his love interest, and Lola Albright (who passed away this past March at the age of 92) as Young’s perpetually patient paramour. Incidentally, Kid Galahad is a remake of a same-named 1937 film starring Edward G. Robinson, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart and (as the title boxer) Wayne Morris. When will Warner Bros. finally bring that version to Blu-ray? Blu-ray extras consist of the theatrical trailer and an isolated music track. Movie: ★★★ WHALE RIDER (2003). Currently appearing in supporting stints on two television shows (Game of Thrones and Manhunt: Unabomber), Keisha Castle-Hughes deservedly earned a Best Actress Academy Award nomination for her startling film debut in the New Zealand hit Whale Rider. Castle-Hughes stars as Pai, a 12-year-old girl who had survived a difficult birth that killed her mother and twin brother. Pai is a descendant of Paikea, who, as the legend goes, first arrived in what would become this Maori clan’s village riding on the b
am I funny?” Pesci’s 8 Heads character, a gangster also named Tommy, is basically the comedic version of his Oscar-winning part in the Scorsese classic — this Tommy similarly has no problem hurting people, but he’s more likely to fret and fume and partake in exaggerated fits of exasperation. Tasked with delivering a bag crammed with human heads in order to prove that a mob hit has been carried out, he ends up in a dire predicament when a college kid named Charlie (Andy Comeau) accidentally grabs his luggage and carts it off to Mexico, thinking it contains his clothing. Charlie is naturally horrified when he unpacks the noggins, while Tommy just wants them back — this leads to whirlwind developments involving Charlie’s roommates (David Spade and Todd Louiso), his girlfriend (Kristy Swanson), and her disapproving parents (George Hamilton and Dyan Cannon). A frantic pace is no match for a scarcity of laughs, and while Pesci is consistently amusing, he receives little assistance from anyone else. Spade and Louiso have their moments but wear out their welcome; Comeau and Swanson are too vanilla for this sort of madcap romp; and Hamilton and Cannon are left adrift under the guidance of writer-director Tom Schulman.

❝  chivalry is overrated,  get in my bed.  ❞ ;; @silverjetsystm

It takes a second for his words to sink in.
Greer was already feeling adrenaline running through her, the rush of a night time adventure with Marc. One they had both survived (in fact, everyone had survived though some might wish otherwise). A run around and back to his, back to what was now becoming familiar even to her.
The night was almost over, but she still had things SHE wanted to do now Marc had chased down his leads.
It was quite simple, all she wanted was a kiss. She made sure she got it, pulling him in when she saw that mask folded up. Something to make it very clear to him that she was here. Plus, it was a fun way to vent some of the leftover energy that she had built up. The kiss was firm and warm, one hand cupping his face (a claw against his skin, not enough to mark or scratch).
Pulling away, the same hand moved to run through her hair— and his words just didn’t sink in for a second.
Then there was a feeling within her that just escaped as a snicker. Her hand went to cover her mouth, the UNEXPECTED line and sheer boldness clearly triggering something within. It was amusing in how it simply caught her off guard. But really, was he allowed to say those things? The short burst of laughter had been good natured and more out of surprise - and not something she would let him linger on.
If he wanted to play it that way then fine. She could play, too.

A hand reached to grab his hand, before pulling him along. If he wanted her in his bed then no time like the present, right? She was mostly amused. Partly still filled with adrenaline. Why not see his response?
“I’m surprised you know what the word chivalry is. Who gave you ye olde dictionary?” she responded, glancing back over her shoulder with a smirk. “So come on. You said it. Money where your mouth is.” Greer leant back, pulling him in by his hand for another kiss. She was joking. Partly. And tired. But anything to joke with Marc, honestly and see his reaction.

Review:
I wasn’t the person who feared darkness. I was the one who danced in it.
Well, I had to wreck my brain hard on what to say about this book. As predicted, the fae plot overpowering the human nonsense did help the level of my enjoyment of this story. Also, Greer's POV is a treat I needed badly. Unfortunately I can't say I could warm up to Elara in this, so much so that I can barely even recall what her side of the plot actually was other than "I have a darkness inside me, what will Alarik say if he finds out". I wish I could say her coming to terms with herself had a great impact on me, but it's not true. I find that her side of the story was incredibly predictable and it took away from the impact it was supposed to have. What I did like was Greer, most of the new(ish) cast and the variety of fantasy creatures that had an active role and weren't treated like useless props. I still liked the world and the general direction of the plot, but why did I feel it was a revamped christian story by the end..... (hint: it's the spear and the girls connection) p.s.: how many times can you use 'love' in every sentence before it becomes tedious and annoying. switch it up, boy.
