One of the seed orders I got from Etsy a few months back was titled something like "Mystery pepper seed mix", as a way of selling pepper seeds that fell down during cleaning and sorting and weren't identifiable and one of my thoughts was "this is so fun it's like a pepper gachapon".

“Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee.” (Macbeth, by William Shakespeare) This isn’t a blood spattered Halloween prop, this is a homegrown Romano Pepper (Capsicum annuum). If that scientific name sounds familiar, it’s because most domesticated peppers belong to this single species. Although they look different and command higher prices due to their fine mellow flavour and texture, the Romano peppers are the same species as the common, mild flavoured but tough-skinned, Bell Peppers. Even the fiery jalapeño and hot cayenne peppers are members of the same species. There are some domesticated peppers in traditional Latin American cuisine that come from other Capsicum species native to central and South America, but Capsicum annuum is by far the most widely cultivated.
The main flavour difference lies in the concentration of “Capsaicin”, an alkaloid evolved to deter mammals and fungi from eating the fruits. Capsaicin is the chemical that causes the burning hot sensation we feel when eating Chili peppers. Evolutionary biologist hypothesise that birds are better at spreading wild Chili pepper seeds because birds swallow the fruits without chewing. Mammals tend to chew up the seeds while eating the fruit, which destroys the seeds. How ironic that this “deterrent” would lead to humans spreading the plant all over the world due to its exciting flavour!

I thought I was smart and found a Jamie Oliver recipe for fried rice that all goes in the oven but the rice wasn't cooked after 30 minutes and then it still wasn't cooked after putting it back in twice and I thought I'd overcooked it but it's fine, rice is now cooked (at least the spoonful I tested, should I test the whole lot?????)

Top 10 Vegetables for diabetics
Vegetables are generally high in water content and fibre, both of which help your digestive system function smoothly. They also create a feeling of ‘fullness’, which leads to smaller food portions, and keeps hunger pangs at bay. This makes them excellent choices for weight loss.

Peppers of various varieties
1. The Bell Pepper
These large sweet peppers come in a variety of colors (green, red, orange, yellow, purple and more). They are ideal for stuffing due to their size and mild-sweet flavor, but they are also incredibly versatile, adding flavor to any dish they are used in.
2. Miniature Sweet Pepper
These tiny peppers resemble bell peppers in appearance and flavor, but they are smaller, have fewer seeds to remove, and are often slightly sweeter. Use them as a scoop for your favorite dip, or roast or sauté them like a bell pepper.
Tumblr media
3. Pepper Cubanelle
This sweet pepper, also known as the Italian Frying Pepper, has a mild heat. This long, light greenish-yellow pepper has a slight wrinkle to its thin skin and is widely used in Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Dominican Republic cuisines. They are ideal for quick frying due to their thin skin, but they can also be roasted. Add a sliced one of these to your pizza to up the ante.
4. Banana and Pepper
These peppers were named after their long, curved shape and yellowish color. They have a tangy but mild flavor and are commonly found pickled for piling on sandwiches.
5. Cherry Chili
Pimento (or Pimiento) peppers, also known as cherry peppers, are red, heart-shaped peppers that are mild, sweet, and smell like a supercharged red bell pepper. They are most commonly found in jars and can be used to add sweet pepper flavor to dishes similar to roasted red peppers.
Tumblr media
6.Poblano Pepper
Poblano peppers, while hot, are on the mild side of the spicy pepper scale. Poblano peppers are thick and meaty like bell peppers, but with a mild kick. They are ideal for stuffing due to their size. They can also be roasted, grilled, or sautéed. They are one of Mexico's most popular peppers, and they are anchos when fully ripened and dried.
7.Jalapeño
Jalapeos reign supreme among spicy peppers. Not because they are the spiciest (in fact, compared to most, they are relatively mild on the Scoville scale), but because of their popularity and availability. They do have some heat, but it's a pleasant kind of heat. It would be incomplete without it in guacamole.
8. Fresno Pepper
They may resemble a red jalapeo, but they are more complex and have a bit more heat. As they mature, Fresnos become more fruity and smokier in flavor. Try these out if you want to try something new.
Tumblr media
9. Serrano Pepper
These long, thin red peppers pack a clean, bright punch without overwhelming you. They have thin skins, so if you decide to roast a bunch (which I would! ), you can chop them with the charred skins on without peeling. Serve with salads, salsa, and chiles.
10. Thai Pepper
Thai pepper comes in a plethora of varieties. The Bird's Eye pepper is most likely to be found in the grocery store, but all Thai peppers have a similar red color and pack a lot of heat for such a small pepper. They are commonly used to add a spicy kick to soups and stews.

“RATATOUILLE is a French Provençal dish of stewed vegetables which originated in Nice. Recipes and cooking times differ widely, but common ingredients include tomato, garlic, onion, courgette (zucchini), aubergine (eggplant, brinjal), capsicum (bell pepper), and some combination of leafy green herbs common to the region.”

ynln-official: 2 years together and your smile still has the same effect it did on day one, though we have known each other for longer than I can even remember but the memories we have made through them, I’ll always cherish them. I can’t wait to love you till the end of times (heart emoji) but that doesn’t hide the fact that we were outed, yes we technically work in the media but still it doesn’t give any news site or person to publish an article about someone’s relationship  no matter their sexuality. Outing someone (in any setting) is not acceptable should they be a public figure (adult or not) or a normal person. People should seriously be taught how to act like actual decent human beings in school at this point. Though I do want to say thank you for all the love everyone has shown both max and I, all the messages and comments of support meant a lot :)

{a small snippet}
You opened the fridge to pull out vegetables for the stir fry, you could hear max in the other room working on something. With the vegetables now washed you grab the cutting board and knife to start cutting them up while the chicken defrosted, light music playing in the background as your focus was on the vegetables until someone’s arms wrapped around you making you smirk knowing it was max “I thought we were supposed to cook together” max says as he rested his chin on your shoulder “you were working and dinner was getting late so…” you said turning around in his arms to face him “well what are you making?” he asks as he picks up a green capsicum “just a stir-fry with rice…easy and quick” you say as you turn around again and begin cutting again, you don’t hear a response from him but max putting a wine glass on the counter and you hear a pop , you look at him with an eyebrow raised, he just looks at you before pouring the wine in the glasses “to us telling the world…and to our love” you couldn’t help but laugh a little before raising your glass and take a sip “I love you” you say as max smiled and kissed you softly “I love you too. Now what can I do to help you my love” he asks as he looks at the chicken “anything but the chicken” you shake your head and move from your spot “cut the vegetables” you say as you laugh “be careful of the knife” you add max’s hand touches the blade “I know how to use a knife y/n” he says “yet you are scared of raw chicken”
Light touches and laughter surrounded the two of you for the rest of the night. Though both of you knew the hate would be inevitable but right now nothing mattered to either of them except each other.

Simple Tips
Store fruit and veggies whole. This will allow them to keep longer, as their surface degrades faster when it has been cut and exposed to air – makes sense, right?
Handle your fruit and veggies gently, as bruises and cuts will lead to rotting which can also spread to other veggies stored nearby.
10 Rapidfire Veggie Storage Tips
#1 Leafy Greens
Lettuce, spinach, rocket, kale and chard can be stored in a sealed container or reusable produce bag in the fridge after being washed and spun to promote hydration.
#2 Tomatoes, Chilli & Capsicums
Fresh tomatoes, chillies and capsicums should be stored on the bench at room temperature until ripe. To preserve for longer, just pop them in the fridge.
#3 Garlic, Onions & Potatoes
Store in a cool dark place and they will keep well for up to a few months. Hint: don’t store potatoes with onions and garlic, as they release gases that may quicken decay.
#4 Pumpkins or Squash
Whole pumpkins can be stored for months in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Sliced pumpkin should be stored in the fridge with the seeds removed, as these decay faster than the flesh.
#5 Cucumbers, Zucchini, Eggplant & Fennel
These immature fruits have thin skin that is sensitive to bruising and cuts, so handle carefully. Store them dry in the fridge in an unsealed reusable bag to allow for airflow.
#6 Carrots, Celeriac & Parsnip
Storing them in a reusable bag in the fridge with their tops removed will allow them to last for over a week (or longer).
#7 Beetroot, Turnips & Radish
Remove the leaves as soon as you get home to preserve the moisture within the roots (keep the leaves for compost or to feed your chickens or worm farm). Store the roots in a reusable produce bag in the fridge.
#8 Cabbages, Broccoli & Cauliflower
As broccoli and cauliflower are the unopened flower buds of a plant, they are best consumed within 3 to 4 days, before they begin to open and turn yellow. Store them in a crisper in the fridge in a reusable bag. Cabbages, however, will last for weeks.
#9 Celery & Soft Herbs
Celery and soft herbs such as parsley, chives and basil can be stored in a jar of water on the kitchen bench at moderate room temperature. Otherwise, in hotter months they can be washed and wrapped in a damp tea towel in the fridge.
#10 Dry Herbs
Dry herbs such as rosemary, thyme and oregano can be stored on the kitchen bench. The flavour becomes more potent as the herb dries, allowing them to keep for a long time. Once fully dry, seal in a container to sprinkle over your food later.
