don't mind me-
Okay, I NEEDED TO SHOW THIS TO SOMEONE I was watching some of the old McGocket's puppet show... McPuppet? anyway- there's this frame, where they show this image that actually looks A LOT LIKE MABEL'S BUBBLE LOCK, but instead of the shooting star shape (representing Mabel ) is- Well, I don't even have to explain it, it explains itself i think..
Tumblr media
I was looking for theories about it, but I couldn't find anyone who mentioned it, nor did I see it anywhere else I wonder if this has any meaning or could it just be an unimportant image to give it the glitch effect?

I thought that Kryptos and Hectorgon may have been from the same place because of the fact they both have mouths but Hectorgon doesn't really have eyes? I feel like that's probably important in making that conclusion so maybe not.
Kryptos and Bill are probably not from the same dimension (despite similar design characteristics) because of said visible mouth being absent on Cipher, therefore probably not being from the same dimension. Maybe some kind of Spiderverse situation where Kryptos plays Bill's role in his dimension but like they're not the same person (at least im pretty sure thats how it worked in those movies im stupid i apologize)
idk man im making shit up as I go.
I also want to point out Amorphous Shape and Bill are the only characters with this kind of eyeshape? I was gonna point out that maybe they're from the same dimension but Amorphous has this cube on it? Which wouldn't really fit because we know that Bill comes from a 2-D world and a cube is a 3-D object (nah, really?) so. Or maybe it folded itself in like that in a 3-D space. This could be possible that they are from the same dimension. But what are Amorphous Shape's arms bro??? Is this a factor in this?? I need answers??
My conclusion: Unclear but I think we can say that they are not all from the same 2D dimension.

The Gravity Falls Timeline
All of this is based on my video, but I assume not many people will want to sit through 2.5 hours of me working this out, so here's a condensed written version.
Some rules I set for myself: If the actual name of an IP, a person or an event is referenced in J3/the Show, I included it into my math for my timeline (ex: references to Ronald Reagan or The Eurythmics, or other REAL WORLD figures). If a REFERENCE is made without the actual name being referenced (ex: in the Journal, Ford mentions Phantom Bustifiers, a reference to Ghostbusters, a movie that didn’t come out in our world until 1984), I did not put that into this timeline (I know what year Ghostbusters came out, but not which year Phantom Bustifiers came out).
With that in mind, let’s begin:
The Stans are born June 15 1951.
Evidence:
Their Bar Mitzvah happened when they were 12 (not 13, as is typical) and their birthday is on June 15th. Because a Bar Mitzvah is dependent on one’s birthday on the Hebrew calendar and not the Gregorian calendar, this means that their 13th Hebrew birthday must land on a date that is BEFORE their 13th Gregorian birthday, something that is typically more rare (the Hebrew birthday is usually AFTER one’s typically celebrated birthday).
The only viable year where this applies is 1951, when their birthday lands on Sivan 11, resulting in a 13th Hebrew birthday in May of 1964, BEFORE their 13th birthday on June 15th
Tumblr media
The Stans find the Stan O War in spring of 1964 at age 12 (or 1961, if you think they were 10)
Evidence:
There are two viable dates for when they find the Stan o War, depending on if they’re 10 (the same age Stan was when he started writing Lil Stanley in the Lost Legends comics) or 12 (the same age as Dipper and Mabel). I think that the way the artist drew the young Stan twins in the Lil Stanley comic looks (age 10) looks slightly younger than how they look in the series (and they are designed a little differently than they look in the Jersey Devil comic, when we KNOW they have the Stan O War already), but there is evidence for both sides.
I lean toward them being 12 because they pull out a sharpie, which wasn’t invented until 64, but there is a reference to a Bruce Springsteen song in a magazine in Lost Legends, quoted by someone named “Brucey S, age 11” and Bruce Springsteen would have been 11 in 1961, so this might be 1961 (or the magazine Ford is reading from might be an old magazine.) I went with 1964, because I think 12 parallelled the ages of Dipper and Mabel better.
Stan gets kicked out in spring of 1969 right before they turned 18. Ford starts at Backupsmore in the fall semester.
Evidence:
Stan makes a reference to Jackie O, which means Jackie Kennedy already remarried to be Jackie Onnassis, and is also still in the public eye, something that would be progressively less common after 1969 (she also happened to visit New Jersey in spring of 1969 and that would have made state headlines, something which is probably a coincidence, but nonetheless very interesting).
Furthermore, there is a portrait of Nixon in the principal’s office, and he would have been sworn in in early 1969.
I think 1969 is more likely than 1970 because ‘69 gives more wiggle room for Shermie to be the baby (more on that later) and for Ford to get at least one PhD.
-Stan dates Carla “Hotpants” McCorkle,(reconnecting for another date after the one at the theater in their teenage years), probably in 1971 (if this “hallucinatey” date even happened at all; if you dont think it happened at all, disregard).
Evidence:
We know this is a later date, when stan is an adult, because his design matches the designs on one of his fake IDs from his years on the run. It was likely 1971 because that is when the term “hotpants” was used to describe those short shorts.
The hippie aesthetic also started dying down after 1972 after the Manson attacks, so I picked 71 for the Juke Joint date.
Ford graduated from Backupsmore at the very earliest 1974, MAYBE early 1975.
Evidence:
In the journal it says he went to Gravity Falls in 1975, but we know he couldn’t have graduated earlier than 74, because we know that he played DDnMoreD in college, and he says in the journal that it was copyrighted in 1974. He also says Stanley always mocked him for playing it, which literally isn’t possible, so he’s either misremembering Stanley mocking him for an EARLIER TTRPG, or this copyright is for a later edition (though I think it must be the former, since DDnMD is a clear reference to DnD which WAS copyrighted in 1974. Still. Up to you.)
This means he completed his PhD in 6 years (or, three years ahead of schedule as described in the series). I believe many of his other PhDs were honorary degrees, and didn't bother working them into this timeline. He got them later.
Stan joins Rico’s gang in the late 70s
Evidence:
Sometime in the late 70s, Stan gets tangled up in what is implied to be the Colombian cartel, which would have been most active in the late 70s, between 75 and 79. Following his trajectory on the map in ATOTS showing his path across the country, he headed below the border toward the end of that trackline, so it was probably later on.
Ford started Journal 3 in 1981, shortly after meeting Bill in 1981.
Evidence:
He says he discovered his muse in 1981 in J3. He also says he is starting J3 six years after he started investigating Gravity Falls (which he did in 75). He also says early on in J3 that he is in his 30s, and he would have turned 30 in June of 1981, three days before he started J3.
There is some fuckery here on how he’s known his muse for “two years” midway J3, and the way I explain that in the video is that the first part of J3 spans nearly 2 years, and there is ample evidence that he wrote many pages out of order. This might be a page from later on in 1982, early 83, instead of mid-81.
We know that Reagan was already in office at this point.
Fiddleford shows up in July of 1982. Fiddleford begins making the memory gun after the Gremloblin incident later that year.
Evidence:
We know at least a year has passed because if you track the months, they go from June, to August, and then later on down to July again when Fiddleford is called. As for the Gremloblin incident, it happened relatively close to the bunker incident (which would have been closer to summer, since it was still hot outside) but it was followed closely by the carnival, where they had squash for sale, and squash are in season after September, typically.
First Portal Test is on January 18, 1983
Fiddleford falls through the portal, his head poking through, on January 18 1983, the day after the confrontation he had with Ford in the diner.
Late February, 1983 - The Portal Incident
Evidence:
There are three many reasons I chose this date. Firstly, we know it is 1983 not just because it follows the trajectory of earlier dates, but because we know that Ford has heard The Eurythmics’ chart topper “Sweet Dreams Are Made of This” because when he returns he says he is looking forward to their next one, and that came out in January of 83’, before he would have been sucked through.
Secondly, five weeks after January 18th, it would still be snowy in up-mountain Oregon where Ford is, but not that snowy in New Mexico where Stan is when he gets the post card.
Thirdly, we know at least 5-6 weeks have passed because Ford describes about this many weeks during his “paranoid era” in the journal (more than one instance of “a couple weeks, several weeks, a few weeks”, etc.).
In the year 2000, Dipper and Mabel are born.
Evidence:
I know most people think it’s 1999. And that is fine, but I have ample evidence that the show takes place in 2013, not 2012 (see below), so 2000 would have to work for their birthday.
But 2000 also gives a little bit of wiggle room to Shermie being the baby. (If you don’t think Shermie is the baby, disregard this section). If Shermie IS the baby, then if he was born in spring of 1969 (late 68 at the earliest), then you can barely fit two generations of Pines in the space between 1969 and 2000. It would mean that both Shermie and his kid would need to be 15 when they had a kid, which is … not great, but not impossible? I dunno man, take it up with Hirsch. (Or just assume the baby is Shermie’s kid. Follow your dreams).
In 2013, Dipper and Mabel visit their Grunkle Stan in Gravity Falls.
Evidence:
The Northwest ghost died in what is described in the journal as “The Great Flood of 1863”. The Northwests are trying to keep this flood under wraps in J3, because they don’t want people finding out about the lumberjacks killed in the flood. The Northwest Ghost swore with his dying breath to come back 150 yrs after his death. 150 years later from 1863, is 2013.
The 1040 form that Stan is filling out his Tax Fraud note on in the truth-telling ep is a 2012 form. To file tax returns, you use w2s 1040s labeled under the PREVIOUS year
Sevral Timez shouts "2013"
1983 is 30 years before 2013.
Note: This would mean that the Stans are 62 at the end of the summer, which might mean that they are "pushing 70" as Stan describes himself.
Anyways, here's the full video if you have 2.5 hours. Otherwise, enjoy this resource!

I don't remember if it was in a Youtube comment or tumblr post, but someone made an interesting idea that when Bill was defeated, his statue got sent back (waaaaaaay back) in time. I can see why. With the condition Bill's statue seems to be in (moss growing on it, as well as some cracks from obvious age, not mention its wedged in the ground), it made it appear that the statue had been there for a looooong while.
Some settlers stumble upon this half buried statue, intrigued by it. They decided to remain in this area, creating a lumber town called Gravity Falls.
It was an interesting idea. An interesting theory.
I got another one.
Thanks to the whole wibbly-wubbly timey wimey...
What if the Bill Statue is the weirdness magnet that attracts anomalies to Gravity Falls in a sort of causal time loop?
For anyone curious, a causal time loop can be described as when A causes B and B causes A.
In the context of this, Bill (like many anomalies) was attracted to the strange lumber town and even became confined to it once he gained physical form. That same form would later become the statue, which would be sent back in time and emits a strange energy that would attract weirdness to Gravity Falls, such as Bill.
Confusing? Yes.
Possibly unlikely? Definitely.
Still awesome? Absolutely.

NEW GRAVITY FALLS FAN THEORY UNLOCKED
Cw: suicide mention, Gravity Falls spoilers
in season 2 episode 7 of gravity falls, during the scene where the twins are on the road in the fed truck, i noticed something.
Tumblr media
on the back of manly dan’s lumber truck, there are 3 notable bumper stickers.
Tumblr media
there’s the obvious sev’ral timez sticker, which is pointed out in the scene, the american flag, and a yellow ribbon.
if you’re in the mentally sparkly club, which i assume you are because this is tumblr, you might know that the yellow ribbon symbolises suicide awareness and prevention.
which, first off, cute, alex hirsch. love u man.
second,
that got me thinking.
wendy’s presumed mother (manly dan’s wife) is not mentioned in the show. ever.
i always assumed she was out of the picture in some way
but what if wendy’s mom committed suicide?
it makes sense. idk. i’m high as fuck and i could be totally wrong but food for thought.

Gravity Falls Theory: Ma and Pa Duskerton are Robbie's Maternal Grandparents
You know what? Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm going to make the post. Mostly because I haven't stopped thinking about this since I noticed a few things.
We know who Robbie's grandfather on his father's side is because of Victor Valentino, who, according to the wiki, is Greg Valentino's father.
Tumblr media
Which, you know, is all fine and good. That's all of the info we really need about Robbie's extended family, right?
But what about any grandparents on his mother's side?
(this post got long so I’m putting the rest of the theory under a read more)
See, I've been thinking. There's an episode where, inexplicably, Robbie is spared for seemingly no reason by a seemingly random ghostly old couple.
The Duskertons.
Take a look at this picture of the Duskertons.
Tumblr media
We can very clearly see their faces and features.
Now, take a look at Robbie’s mother.
Tumblr media
There are more than a few similarities, here.
I’ve labelled them here, and you can really see the similarities.
Tumblr media
“but violet!” you may be thinking, “the duskerton’s noses are redder than janice’s is! she doesn’t have that trait that’s present in both of them!”
you know who does?
her son.
Tumblr media
Seems like a pretty random trait for him to have that his parents don’t, until you look at it from the perspective of the Duskertons being his grandparents.
Tumblr media
Now, let’s take a look at the way he’s treated during “The Inconveniencing”.
Each character who is taken is taking for doing normal teenage things- Tambry for texting, Thompson for playing video games, Lee for being sarcastic, and Nate for having an angry tone.
But something that stuck out to me is that, just before Lee uses sarcasm, Robbie does.
And Robbie doesn’t get taken. At all.
He’s right there when the store gets flipped upside down, but literally minutes earlier he was doing something that caused somebody else being taken.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if there’s a reason?
The Duskertons may hate teenagers but I’m sure they wouldn’t do anything that would actually hurt their own grandson.
I hope y’all enjoyed this post, I’ve been thinking about this for months and I finally decided to just. Sit down and compile everything.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

..and yet I still think, that the book would mostly be bill BUT since this is the first few pages of the book IIII HAVE PHILOSOPHISED that bill has come back and ripped off a page from Fords’ diary (where he wrote the little commentary on bills book) and taped it into his book after making it as like a little- prologue, for the book.
HAHAHA
he would honestly imo he totally would
egotistical one eyed triangle for the w
OH YEAH PLUS, THERES SOMETHING ELSE ASWELL
there’s a little thing about there being SECRET JOURNAL 3 PAGES IN THE BOOK- SO MY HYPOTHESIS STILL STANDSSS!!!!!

Gravity falls theory
When I was younger, I entered the gravity falls fandom and I made up some stupid theory and I would like it to be considered.
Something that always bothered me in gravity falls was something near the finale episodes. It is when Bill Cipher used Blenden as a skin suit to trick Mabel into giving him the rift. What bothered me is why Blenden was chosen at all? Granted, his alibis was believable for what Bill had in store, but I didn't really think about that and dived into making my own theory. So brave yourselves for 12 year old me and her theory of this show that I love.
The theory is....
What if Bill and Blenden were secretly partners?
Hear me out and rewind back to "Blendens game", where the theory winds from. The first few scenes show Blenden escaping from prison. The Gaurds mention that no one has ever escaped from it before. In true gravity falls fashion, this is never explained. All we know is that Blenden escaped, and no one ever really brought it up again.
Also it's canon that Bill and Time Baby know each other. This most likely means that Bill has definitely added some trouble with the time police once, though never caught.
I believe that Bill may have made a deal with Blenden to help him escape in return for a favor.
This is also proved in the credits of "the last mablecorn" where Bill is watching ford and Dipped set up the unicorn hair border and mentions that he needs to use one of his puppets from the outside of the mystery shack.
And a line during Bills interrogation with Ford during Weirdmeggedon 2.
"you know the rules cipher! You can't enter my brain unless I shake your hand and let you in!"
That's pretty much all I have, and I believe it's all I need. Keep in mind it's been a while since I watched the show, so let me know if you have any contradicting evidence

Okay bear with me this theories long and crazy and involves multiple shows but I'm doing this
(What if Over the Garden Wall, Gravity Falls and Owl House are all in one Universe)
Okay so we start out with the show Over the Garden Wall which we know has some tie possibly to Owl House because the light glyphs take the form of Wirt,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other thing people don't realize that ties Over the Garden Wall To The Owl House universe is the character of Auntie Whispers, who shares a last name with Raine Whispers.
She even carries a bell she used to use to keep Lorna working as when the young girl would stop an evil spirit would overtake her,
Tumblr media
As we can't see her ears we can't be certain she was in fact Human, Lorna was confirmed to be adopted by Auntie Whispers.
Auntie Whispers also eats turtles which is weird to begin with but add the context of her being a Witch from the Boiling Isles and it would make sense.
Now comes some loose threading and just my own thoughts when Over the Garden Wall happened the time period appears to be late 80s early 90s, Wirt and Sarah afterwards seem to get close
What if Sarah and Wirt were Mabel and Dippers Parents?
Tumblr media
That would explain why mystery has always hung around the Pines family. Wirt and Greg much like their possible Cousins (Stanford and Stanley) just got yanked into it and that's why they sent their kids up to their Grunkle Stan,
We know 95% that Gravity Falls and Owl House are tied together because of the Marilyn(Eda) and Stan situation (hilarious BTW)
If we want to get into real theorizing and just all that, The Beast could very well be a Titan if you think about it. We don't know much about the Titans of the Boiling Isles and if we already have Auntie Whispers over here, it's very plausible that this one ended up hunting for Lost Souls in the Unknown
Much like the owlbeast got turned into a curse, this Titans soul got put into a Lantern, which is carried by a person he's trapped. This Titan also ended up badly warped and corrupted leading to his current appearance

So we all know the theory that Gravity Falls, The Owl House and Amphibia take place in the same universe right?
its a pretty well know theory (even if you don't believe it) in all three fandoms but if you don't here's the gist of it:
so basically that theory is built off easter eggs, like willows dads having a book with Hop-Pops face on it
Tumblr media
and references to the other shows like that entire Gravity Falls episode in Amphibia,
Tumblr media
that imply that they’re taking place simultaneously, with gravity falls taking place in 2012 and TOH and amphibia taking place in 2019-2020 (without the covid the lucky bastards) with Camilla reading an article about a girl returning from a frog world in the season 2 finale of TOH
Tumblr media
but that opens the door for a whole lot of inter-dimensional *shenanigans* and so many plot points i can and will argue reference and overlap with each other.
now theres the obvious similarities like how bills minions fit the description of beast demons from the owl house:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ignore the circling its not my screenshot I found it on google)
and bill himself is on one of kings posters when he tries to teach Luz about demons:
Tumblr media
Bill is also in the book that tells marcy about the calamity box:
Tumblr media
a book I believe was written by ford since the cover says its by "Dr. P" (P-ines anyone?) and has eyes that look awfully familiar, which I think are a reference to either the cores eyes, the portal doors eye from toh, or Bills eye (and the fact that this eye symbol is so similar across shows feeds the theory that they're all in the same universe)
Tumblr media
meaning the Bill is a semi-universal character/figure throughout the different realms
if the other realms (Bill's realm, the several Ford got trapped in, the Boiling Isles, and Amphibia) have access to each other, and Bill is as universal as he seems, he probably interacted with some citizens of those realms, and probably left a mark
now it's finally time for my personal take/add-in:
we never get an origin for the core
or the newts relation to the core
we get an episode about Andrias's personal history and his individual relation to the core, and how he came to be the guy who manipulated and then stabbed a very vulnerable teenage girl, but it seems like the core has just been with the Leviathan lineage since at least before Andrias's dad (who's over a thousand years old since thats how old the flashback is)
Tumblr media
so, what am I rambling about?
well, if bill, a dream demon, made his way to amphibia, the core might have been the newts attempt to artificially replicate his powers
NOW HEAR ME OUT: on top of being incredibly powerful once he’s released in gravity falls
he also has the power to go into other peoples minds and search their memories like he does to Stan in his very introduction
Tumblr media
which is an awful lot like what the core tries to do, since Andrias says the core is the hive mind of a dozen of the greatest newt minds and when Darcy happens it has complete access to her memories
Tumblr media
not to mention how when it talks to andrias what physically appears when it talks are it’s eyes, which is what changes on dipper and Blendin (time travel dude) when bill possess them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the amphibians (powered by the music box) were an incredibly advanced civilization capable of a lot of damage (as seen by the literal frobot army they created
Tumblr media
so i don't think it would be crazy to say that when they (specifically the newts) saw what a being like Bill could do, they would try to replicate it.
Obviously, the core and Bills mind-jumping powers are not the same, which is a way I'd say the Amphibians failed: instead of popping in and out of peoples minds like Bill does, the core completely takes their minds, more like a parasite.
we don't know all the parameters since we know basically nothing about the other newts in the hive mind, other than that each mind shows up as an eye on the cores "head" before and after it possesses Marcy. and speaking of the girl, she has no control or consciousness (that we know of) while under the cores control.
but we do get one and a half-ish examples of people who are very aware of the cores presence in their mind (unlike Bill) but are physically controlling their own bodies (we think) (unlike Marcy) and those two are Andrias and his dad, who both communicate with the core more like it's just a very dangerous, intrusive thought.
so.... yeah...
idk how to end this but please reblog and tell me if you think im crazy or not-

Okay, so I might be crazy but hear me out.
I was on YouTube and a gravity falls short popped up. And look at this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the hide behind.
Look at his shape and character design. Remind you of someone?
Tumblr media
This is belos, from the owl house. A show that a lot of people would agree gives the same feeling and vibe as gravity falls.
Do you think the creator based a little of belos design of the hide behind or am I just sleep deprived?

Theory: Bill Used to Have a Physical Form Before
I've had this thought about Bill.
So, he originated from the Second Dimension, right? While its not very much implied (as far as I can tell), I'd wager that the Second Dimension was in a physical plane. By that, I mean, its inhabitants more or less organic...as 'organic' as they can get as literal flat beings.
This would mean that Bill once had a physical form before finding himself in the Nightmare Realm.
So, how did he lose it?
Like what happens to any organic matter.
It rotted away.
Now...If Bill had already died (and his spirit remained in the Nightmare Realm) before the rotting set in is unknown.
What I think is that Bill slowly lost his physical form during his time stuck in the Nightmare Realm.

Crazed Ramblings about the WLW couple we could have gotten in Gravity Falls (no, not THAT one).
Alright, here’s the fairly unhinged crackpot fanspiracy theory I got after rewatching some of Gravity Falls:
Were it not for the corporate Disney overlords keeping Alex Hirsch and the rest of the Gravity Falls team on a tight leash, then we very possibly would have seen Wendy and Tambry becoming a couple in the episode ‘The Love God’, via love-potion shenanigans on the part of Mabel.
Exhibit A: It is well-known by this point about Hirsch’s efforts to include an elderly lesbian couple just in a brief background appearance, only to have even that shot down. I’d say it’s no stretch to imagine that without the corporate over(lord)sight, Hirsch and the rest of the team would have likely pushed for even more LGBT rep.
Exhibit B: Alex Hirsch has confirmed that Wendy is bisexual. Pretty easy to draw a connection between that and Exhibit A.
Exhibit C: It just makes sense in the narrative context of both the episode and the show as a whole. After the first season showed Wendy’s crumbling relationship with Robbie, it makes sense to follow that up with showing Wendy starting a much better relationship in the second season. In just the previous episode, ‘Blendin’s Game’, it’s shown that Wendy and Tambry are longtime childhood friends. And considering that we don’t see young Robbie interacting with either Wendy or Tambry in this episode, I think it’s easy to imagine a scenario wherein Wendy and Tambry showing up together in ‘Blendin’s Game’ lays a bit of groundwork for their present selves to get together in the following episode.
Additionally, Wendy and Tambry getting together also provides a nice, logical conclusion to Dipper’s whole character arc dealing with his crush on Wendy through the show, something we didn’t actually get otherwise.
Here’s the thing; Dipper never really moves past his crush on Wendy. While they do get a chance to address his crush in ‘Into the Bunker’ where it becomes clear that Wendy obviously does NOT return those feelings, it’s still left a bit open-ended. Going through the rest of the show, it’s clear that Dipper’s crush on Wendy is still very much present even if he’s no longer trying to act on it.
It really feels like we’re missing an episode B-plot which follows up on the conversation from ‘Into the Bunker’ where this whole thread of Dipper’s unrequited crush on Wendy reaches some kind of resolution. That episode made it clear that Dipper’s crush is not going to be returned, but without any follow-up that shows him finding closure to his unrequited feelings. Which in turn makes this whole thread feel a bit unresolved.
To that end, a logical conclusion to this plot thread would be Dipper fully recognizing and moving past his crush on Wendy. And a great way of doing that would be to show Wendy getting together and being happy with someone else and Dipper being able to recognize, accept and support it. Wendy and Tambry getting together in The Love God could have provided that.
Heck, going back to ‘Blendin’s Game’, I think we can even see what could have been a hint to this with Dipper and Mable meeting past-Wendy and Tambry. Sure it’s a funny joke that Mable cracks about how Dipper ‘now knows how Wendy feels’ about his crush on her, but it’s also pretty clear that realization struck a chord in Dipper. Again, consider a scenario wherein this scene with Wendy and Tambry together as kids provides a bit of setup for them becoming a couple in the present. In this case, providing setup for Dipper to finally move past his crush on Wendy.
(Btw, for actual example of this sort of character arc playing out in another show, just look at Finn in the later seasons of Adventure Time in relation to Bubblegum and Marceline.)
With all that in mind, I think it’s easy to imagine a version of ‘The Love God’ wherein Mabel, either deliberately or inadvertently, gets Wendy and Tambry together with a love-potion, and then starts to regret her actions. And Dipper is at first driven to help Mable undo the love potion because he is still nursing that crush on Wendy. But by the end of the episode, Dipper recognizes that Wendy is actually happy with someone else, a long-time childhood friend at that, and he should respect that. Thereby finally letting go of the crush he’s had on Wendy for the whole show. It could even lead to a situation where it’s Dipper who talks Mable out of undoing the love potion.
Also, you may ask ‘What about Robbie?’ To which I say; ‘What about Robbie?’
Seriously, you’re saying the show needed to develop someone who is at best a tertiary supporting character instead of developing a MAIN character? This totally could have been one of Wendy’s big character episodes (something she barely gets any of) and you’d rather it be about the human equivalent of rat poison? Again, in hindsight it just makes way more sense that this episode would be focused on Wendy instead of Robby.
Look, Robbie is fine as a character. But ask yourself: Would you REALLY take a Robbie-focused episode over a WENDY-focused episode?
Now, do I have any actual proof of any of all this?
None whatsoever.
Was this mostly an excuse for me to talk about an underrated ship?
Absolutely XD
