I was messing around on Canva late last night and decided to redo my studyblr logo this morning haha.
I know Canva isn't used for professional designs or portfolios, but I still find it's fun to dabble with it here and there. I'm more of a traditional art gal, but I like making simple designs when I want to be on a computer but don't know what to do.
If you can't tell, I like coffee! XD I'm drinking a cup now with the International Delights Bridgerton Creamer (English Toffee flavor) and it's pretty good. They made the flavors and designs in promotion for Bridgerton Season 3, which I am super stoked for, but the flavors themselves are super good.
I cleaned up my station in the art studio today so when I come back from spring break, I can have a fresh start. Our new prompt is to paint an interior on stretched canvas and to hopefully let that piece be our last full piece for the semester. It's super intimidating, but our professor wants us to focus on details of individual objects in a bigger setting. I am still working on my acrylic paintings for my Honors project so I am switching between acrylic and oil medium every few days.
My last oil piece I did before I leave for the break was another pet portrait of my cat (which I might post if there's interest). I liked being able to practice cat anatomy but also I worked on a larger canvas than I have done so far these past couple months.

╰┈➤ hello there! 💌
My name is Asia, I'm 24 years old and I live in Italy. I'm a Literature and Performing Arts undergraduate, which means I study Italian literature, cinema, music history, etc..
I made this #studyblr to keep myself motivated during my new journey at uni and to romanticize it a little, while connecting with like-minded people and sharing tips to help each-other achieve the best results and not procrastinate (not too much, at least).
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Things I like: taylor swift, movies, journaling, pop punk music, pretty flowers, graphic design, posters and postcards, concerts, book shops, stationery, taking aesthetic lifestyle pictures
Things I dislike: spiders, pens that leave little white spaces when you write with them on paper, hot weather, missing my bestie

I track the hashtag #lovely-studies

FINAL DESTINATION: The End
POSTER 3: IMPACT ON WATER
Now there were alot of issues with the making of this poster. I had a hard time visually representing salinity of water. Hence i had to come up with different ideas, experimenting with layouts and font sizes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Milly ma'am gave me a feedback saying the illustration did not represent the concept. So I had to figure out another way. Removing the illustration of the boat I went for a much simpler layout and illustration.

POSTER 4: IMPACT ON INFRASTRUCTURE
Since the impact of salinization on infrastructure is pretty direct, I made an illustration representing the destruction saline water had on buildings.

POSTER 5: INTRODUCTORY POSTER
Although the flow of this blog was in the process of my work flow, the poster is actually the 1st poster in the series. It's an introductory poster on what salinization is, and the impact it has on the earth.

(wait, is this background color only better?)

Anddddd, that's the end of our project! I have to say it has been the most intense module till date, but I have never seen as much improvement of my skill sets, as I did here. I had never illustrated before and I was still uncomfortable with the digital medium, but this module really helped me grow, as a designer and a person. I could really see how much I could push myself to do better work and how much I enjoyed the work process. Forever grateful to Milly ma'am, for making us work through and through, helping us reach new heights.
Thank you :))

hi friends, or soon to be friends !!
this is the introduction to fig belly studios ! a new blog where I will be posting my small art projects, as i ease back into the practice.
the art projects will include all different sorts of mediums, such as fiber, paint, sculpture/3D, digital, graphic design, etc !
but anyway, hi !! i’m fig, and im a home town community college drop out who is still interested in the arts, but has no way of getting that “proper” education back. most of the time you’ll find me either at my full time office job, or sitting at home with my girlfriend with our two cats arugula and sage.
i created this blog as motivation to push me to complete 1 project a week (to start) and to get over my fear of letting others see all my imperfections (even though this is still way safer than posting on my main instagram or something LMAO).
i’ll be posting more than just my weekly projects, i’ll also be posting progress, other projects, prompts, and just life things because i can do what i want :0)
if you have any questions or ideas for me, feel free to leave them in my submissions !
we will see how this goes !
Xx

THE BEGINNING OF A PROJECT
Well, hello everyone! This week we started our final module of our semester 3, Poster Making!!! Ahhh exciting moment indeed!
We were introduced to our faculty, Mrs. Milly Singh, who also happened to be the panelist for my 1st jury in design school. I still remember my first interaction and the criticism that i got! But anyway, moving forward. It was an ice breaking session getting to know the flow of the module, and how the work procedure would be. We were given a brief on what are the expectations and the criteria for our work, and obviously, the biggest thing of them all, our grading system. The college just introduced a new examination system, so we would be having an exhibition instead of an individual jury (i don't really know what to feel about it but I'm tensed nonetheless). In that particular moment, we went back in time and revised the basics from foundation year, recalling all the things we learnt, from colour theory to geometry and sketching. Drawing back from our learnings from the other modules in graphic design itself, i realised how intertwined all our subjects are! I mean you know they're all connected, but it wasn't always in my consciousness. It was fascinating to understand how a simple medium, such as posters, could actually reflect all the learning that you had.
Something that Milly maam had emphasized on was the importance of reading. You can have all the skill set in the world, but reading? reading gives you the knowledge to build on the assets you already have. Its important to know and be conscious of what is going on around you and how everything changes and evolves. Thus, we saw the journey of.....TYPE! Milly ma'am's area of expertise, Typography, is a huge part of graphic design and we looked at the history of it. The journey from the carvings of Roman letters to handwritten books to metal type and digital text, we saw how typography has a significant role in history. It was interesting to say the least.
We also understood how powerful a poster can be. Posters are such a significant part of our life, that often times we miss it. From the half torn movie posters stuck to street lights to digital posters that we see as ads, they are everywhere. And these posters make an impact, subconsciously, without us even realizing. So how do we as designers, use this medium to make a mark in the world? I hope to discover that during this module, so stay tuned!!!
