Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Tumblr media
You wake in a coughing fit, the rubble surrounding you sears your lungs. “Natasha.” You call into the rocks and flickering lights. Clearing your throat, you try again. “Natasha!”
“Here, I’m here.” Her voice is rough, pained.
You push yourself toward the sound, through the dust you can make out her hair. “You ok?”
“Mostly.” She’s laying face up, a few scratches visible.
“What the hell does that mean?”
“I can’t move.” She nods at the piece of collapsed cement. “My leg is broken, you should go.” Nat says, staring up at the sky.
“I should’ve never let you go to Vormir. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know.” You try uselessly to budge the blockage over her leg.
“What is Vormir?” She asks.
“Doesn’t matter.” You swallow the lump in your throat. “How much do you remember?”
“The red room.”
“Do you remember getting out?”
“No one gets out.” She shakes her head.
“We did.” You inform her. “Yelena did.”
“Yelena?” Her gaze finds yours. “You know Yelena? Is she here?”
“Yes, I know her.” You press your lips together. “She’s not here though.”
“The rest of this building is coming down. If you were really trained in the red room you have to know that.” Natasha frowns. “You need to leave.”
“Not gonna happen.”
“Don’t be a hero.” She whispers. “Let me go, it’s ok.”
“No, it’s not.” You argue. “I won’t do it again.”
“What about Yelena?” Natasha gives you a pointed look.
“She’ll understand.” This is what she would do.
“Hey,” Natasha pushes herself up on her elbows. “Would it be a good thing or a bad thing if a giant man in a metal suit carrying a smaller man and a raccoon appeared behind your head?”
You turn toward the man in question. Scott Lang. “It would be a good thing.”
———————————————————————
Natasha is taken somewhere safe. She can’t fight.
As the strange doctor and his disciples start opening portals you see that you’re not alone. Through one comes Alexei, Melina and Yelena.
Her white suit is pristine, dirty blonde hair held away from her face in ponytails.
On shaky legs you move toward her, taking your rightful place at her side. Facing what lies ahead together.
Yelena catches your hand, “this isn’t much of a welcome home.”
You can’t help but laugh, “pretty cool way to die though.”
“Very,” she agrees. “Natasha?”
“She is a little worse for wear.” You warn her, “but alive…and safe.”
Yelena gives you a watery smile, squeezing your fingers. “And you?”
“A tower fell on me.”
“Of course it did.”
Thanos’ army is nothing to scoff at. Giant airborne creatures hover over his troops. Larger monsters stand in their ranks, space ship overhead ready to destroy.
Steve is almost unrecognizable, covered in dirt, his shield battered and broken. But you know it is time when he gives the order. “Avengers, assemble.”
Fighting is easy, it’s what you know. What you were trained to do. Fight to stay alive, fight for what you believe in, fight with Yelena; for Yelena.
The two of you move together like a well oiled machine. Like riding a bike, even after all this time you could never forget.
“We’ve got company to the left.” Yelena says through gritted teeth, kicking at the alien creature beside her. Dropping an empty cartridge to the ground and reloading her gun seamlessly, firing several shots.
Despite everyone’s best efforts they just keep coming. “Do we have a plan here?”
“Getting there,” Steve replies. “Anybody have eyes on the gauntlet?”
“Yeah!” Clint rushes past you with the glove in hand. “What am I supposed to do with it?”
“Get it out of here!” Tony insists.
“What’s happening?” Alexei shouts over the chaos. “I still don’t have ear piece.”
“Just keep their army away from that guy in the tank top.” You grunt, falling backwards from the force of one of Thanos’ soldiers colliding with you.
“We have to get the stones back where they came from.” Rhodey reminds everyone.
“The time space tunnel is completely collapsed.” Tony points out.
“That isn’t our only time machine.” Lang cuts in.
“Does anyone see an ugly brown van out there?” Captain America’s voice hums through the ear bud.
“I do,” a female voice chimes in. “But you’re not going to like where it’s parked.”
After grappling for far too long, you manage to knock the creature from you. Using your knife to dismember it.
“Next time, we get the cool laser guns.” Yelena yells loud enough to be heard by everyone on the network, as she hauls you to your feet.
“Friday, please add laser guns for the ballerinas to my grocery list.” Stark gives his smart ass remark.
“What’s the word on the van?” Rhodey wonders.
“Working on it now.”
The ship at Thanos’ disposal begins raining fire, no regard for their own troops.
“We’ve got people going down!” Rocket hollers.
“Clint,” you call into the microphone. “How’s that gauntlet?”
“Moving down the field.” The archer replies, “I’m alright too, thanks for asking.”
“Good.” You bite back a smile.
Hell continues breaking loose around you. Glowing circular orbs unfold in the air above, providing coverage from the missiles. You’re not sure if this is winning or losing. It feels like a bit of both.
———————————————————————- Thanos and his army are dusted away. Leaving you surprised and still swinging as the shock wears off.
You won. You. Won.
And you lost.
You lost Tony Stark. The man you’d barely known, but offered you clarity that will stay with you forever.
You lost the Natasha you’d come to know over the five years that Yelena was gone. Some parts of the redhead stripped away for the price of the stone.
But she’s still here. Waiting in the wings to be greeted by Yelena and their little makeshift family. You share a look of understanding when your eyes meet over the blonde’s shoulder.
Others come, Banner refuses to leave her side. Despite the fact that Natasha doesn’t remember him.
Clint falls to the ground at her feet. Breaking down at the sight of his friend, his family alive and well. She doesn’t remember him either, but welcomes him into her arms somewhat awkwardly.
Her expressions flicker from happy to overwhelmed. Hesitant to open herself up to the possibility that she is wanted, needed and loved.
Too confusing for the girl who only remembers the red room. Adjusting to this life will take time.
Everyone begins clearing out, their jobs finished. Rushing home to reunite with their loved ones. Tomorrow will bring about new challenges. The world is in shambles, and so are you.
Steve decides that he should be the one to return the stones. His goodbye tells you that he has a bit more in mind. But this is his life. His choices, not yours.
“Well, I guess we should head out too.” You say after a while. Your car is gone, lost in the wreckage from the explosion.
The setting sun is eclipsed, causing all of you to turn your gaze upwards just in time to see the ship’s door open.
“Is that a raccoon?” Melina asks, pointing toward Rocket.
“Do you want a ride or not?” Rocket shoots back.
“Not the avenger’s super jet, but it will do huh?” Alexei smiles, this is his dream.
“This is better!” A man’s voice carries down from the interior.
“Well,” Yelena shrugs, “if you say so.” She leads the pack up the ramp and onto the ship.
“Fanny and the pigs will be expecting dinner soon.”
“How are they?” Melina asks, “have you been taking care of them.”
“That was me!” Alexei says proudly, bending at the waist to gather Natasha into his arms. “Aye honey,” he grunts, hoisting her up. “You are only little girl in my heart.”
Nat pushes against his chest in retaliation.
“Do you mind if I hitch a ride too?” Clint asks.
“The extra stop will cost you,” Nebula stares blankly at him from her seat.
“They always do.” He remarks, trotting up the ramp.
Bruce paces at the foot of the metal grate, watching the rest of you load up. “I gotta hang back, make sure Steve gets there in one piece.”
“After what happened with Scott the first time I’d say that’s probably the best bet.” You agree, standing near the entrance.
“Yeah,” he smiles, kindly. “Keep me posted on Nat, will ya?”
“I will,” you return the smile.
“I’ll see you around.”
You nod, “I’ll see you.”
The captain of the ship introduces himself as Star-lord, and after a moment without response, Quill.
“Any requests?” He asks, finger hovering over the control panel.
Alexei creeps over to the younger man, quietly relaying a message.
“Alright,” Quill nods. Stroking the keys until a familiar set of notes ring out.
“A long, long time ago-“ The singer croons.
You let out a chuckle.
“I can still remember how that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance. And maybe they'd be happy for a while.”
“We’re really doing this?” Yelena puts a hand to her head, the corners of her mouth turning upward.
“But February made me shiver, with every paper I'd deliver. Bad news on the doorstep, I couldn't take one more step.” The melody carries on.
“It’s your song.” Natasha turns to her sister.
“I can't remember if I cried. When I read about his widowed bride.” Melina’s eyes are far away, carried back to their years in Ohio. Before the world had been so cruel.
“Something touched me deep inside, the day the music-“
“Died.” Yelena joins in, lulling her head to the side to gage your reaction.
You sigh, all of this beyond surreal. But you allow yourself to live in this moment, because you might not get another. “So bye, bye Miss American Pie…”
“Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry.” The roaring chorus of voices fills the silence you’ve grown used to. Fills the parts of you that were empty for so long. “And them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye. Singin', “this’ll be the day that I die.”
“This’ll be the day that I die.” Yelena sings, her face alight with a childlike glee.
——————————————————————-
Melina, Natasha and Alexei stay with you for a while. A few weeks as Natasha heals and becomes acclimated to her life.
She claims to hate the attention, but deep down you know she’s full of it.
The Ohio house is bursting at the seams with five adults, nine pigs and one dog.
That isn’t enough to keep visitors at bay. Namely Clint, his wife Laura and their three children.
Things feel a bit off when everyone begins moving out. Alexei, Melina, and their pigs return to the farm outside of Saint Petersburg.
Natasha finds herself drawn to New York, with Bruce and the makeshift building he’s using as a lab.
You adjust to the steady thrum that is daily life, with Fanny and Yelena.
After dinner you load the dishwasher, drying your hands on the nearby tea towel before selecting a cycle.
“So how does it feel?” Yelena asks, leaning against the doorframe.
“Hmm?” You turn to face her.
“Being a hero.” She clarifies, a smile playing at her lips.
“I’m not-“
“Oh cut the crap, Y/N. You saved the world.” Yelena narrows her eyes at you.
“I did it for you.” You say simply, because it’s true.
Yelena closes the space between you, “why?”
“You know why.” You whisper as she cups your face in her hands, gently stroking her thumb over your cheek. “It’s ok if you wouldn’t have done the same.”
“I’d do more for you, and worse.” She assures you. “But do you really want to spend the rest of your life fumbling around feelings in the dark when you could have someone who-“
“I want you. I only ever want you.” You beckon her closer. “Anyway I can have you, that will be enough for me.”
Sometimes wires get crossed and you want things you never have before. And she provides them before you have a chance to ask. You give back to her tenfold, so that neither glass is ever empty. That is love. True love, the only way you’ve ever known it.
“I am yours…in every way a person can belong to another.” Yelena breathes, “and then some.”

~I like you~
So it’s 3am and I couldn’t sleep so I came up with this in my head just out of nowhere. I hope y’all enjoy this! My Yelena Belova fics will be back soon but I’m focusing on Nat right now :)
Tumblr media
Before Natasha went on a mission, she kissed Y/n quickly. Y/n felt stupid for not kissing her back, so on the day she comes back (Y/n also went on a mission but came back a day before Nat, Steve, Wanda and Bucky) Y/n kisses Natasha back and admits she likes her.
Warnings: swearing a slight bit...
Nothing but fluff hehe
She felt so stupid. Why didn't she kiss her back before she left? She knew she blew it now, because when Natasha got back all she gave her was a small smile before walking away back to her room and not even bothering to even say 'hi' to her.
Y/n needed someone to talk to about it because it was killing her on the inside, she was good friends with everyone of course, but she couldn't talk to Wanda in case she said anything out loud, Steve would probably give her some old advice, Tony wouldn't really be of much help. And Bucky? She could talk to him because he did say that when he got back they could talk about whatever it was eating away at her.
Sometimes she wished that she could read minds, but all she has was these fire powers. Maybe reading minds would be so much easier. Walking back to her room on the Chimera, clearly giving up with the thought she had in her mind for what she was going to do earlier, she plopped down on her double bed with silky dark red sheets. Y/n took a quick shower and changed into something comfortable that wasn't her suit; a red tank top and some black sweat pants, tying her hair up in just a ponytail.
The door to her room suddenly opened, revealing Bucky, he gave her a small smile before inviting himself in her room. "Whats up?" Y/n asked him. She wasn't mad at him for inviting himself in, but he could of at least knocked? Not that there was any point considering you could just use your hand print to open them. "You're asking me whats up? I thought this was about you." Bucky chuckled as he sat down in the spiny chair beside a glass desk in her room. The desk being an absolute mess with files and weapon cases all over it.
"I fucked up Bucky." Y/n mentioned. He knew exactly who she was on about, Natasha. "No, no you didn't. Everybody can tell she likes you, believe me. You just gotta go with how you're feeling before it's too late". He was right and she knew it, but the thing is how was she supposed to do that? She isn't good with talking about her feelings nor is Natasha, so how's that supposed to work?
"No, it's already too late. She kissed me before she went on the mission, I messed up and just stood there in silence as she walked away." Y/n admitted. God, she felt so fucking stupid. It wasn't the nicest feeling in the world, knowing that it was possibly too late for them to even have a relationship.
Bucky looked shocked at her last response, not expecting that from either of them, especially Natasha. "Wait? She kissed you." Bucky asked rather confused but happy at the same time. It wasn't usually in the redhead agents nature to just kiss someone like that unless she deeply cared about them. "Y/n, listen. She really loves you, clearly. This is Black Widow we're talking about. She doesn't share her feelings at all, she shows them and that kiss was a show."
Y/n didn't reply back, she was too busy making up scenario's in the back of her mind. She wanted to find Natasha and show her how much she meant to her but she didn't want to force it or anything because what if she kisses her and Natasha pulls away? Maybe she was reading into too much.
Fuck it.
"I know what I need to do!" Y/n enthusiastically shouts interrupting Bucky from whatever he was about to say previously. She thanks him and runs out of her room towards Natasha'.
Walking awfully confidently through the Chimera to finally Black Widow' room, she was about to knock instead of just use her hand print to enter, but before she could the door had automatically opened, revealing the redhead. Clad in another suit of hers that looked a lot more comfortable than the last one she was wearing, a simple turtleneck with black skinny cargo jeans that had a lot of pockets. She smiled at the brunette woman in front of her.
"Hi." She greeted in a cool tone.
"Um, Hey." God she was so nervous and it was clear as day that she was. She cringed a little at her greeting but turned back to face Natasha, calm. Nat stood in her doorway and chuckled slightly, finding it amusing that the brunette seemed nervous and tried to act calm, she was trying to figure her out and what this visit was about. "Could I possibly get a redo?"
"Redo? Of what?" Natasha replied, she smiled. Y/n backed her up back into her room and the door automatically closed, she didn't want someone to walk past awkwardly and see what she was about to do. "For what happened between us two days ago." Y/n trailed off.
Natasha caught on and smirked at the brunette briefly "Oh, you mean before I left for the mission?" Of course, what else would it be for? Y/n nodded and nervously anticipated what was going to happen, but before she could even ask, Natasha spat out a question "Why would you want a redo of that?"
"I didn't do what I'm about to do."
Y/n stepped closer to Natasha in a matter of seconds. Gripping the back of her neck and gently pulled her in for a kiss. The brunette womans other hand went to Nat's shoulder, she didn't really know where to put it in all honesty. Natasha' arms went around her waist to pull her body in closer to hers. Moving your arm to grip at the long sleeve of her black turtle-neck as she deepened the kiss. While the two women broke away Nat bit Y/n' bottom lip slightly.
"Wow." Y/n tried to catch her breath back as Natasha laughed. "You are adorable." She added, practically making the brunette blush ever so slightly.
"No don't say that it just makes me flustered, it's like this cycle that'll never ever be broke." Y/n was rambling right now, she wanted to get to the point and stopped herself. "I really like you Nat, and I hope you like me back. But I would understand if you didn't I-
Natasha interrupted her by smacking her lips back against Y/n' for another kiss. This kiss was only a few seconds as she pulled away "If I didn't like you I wouldn't have kissed you in the first place. Does that answer your question?" Natasha smiles "I like you too" she adds.
"Really?" Y/n gushed "I mean, thats totally cool."
Natasha smirked, she loved seeing her so flustered and completely rambling. She thought it was amusing but also the cutest thing she had ever seen. "Shut up and kiss me." Natasha adds. Y/n wastes no time in pulling her back in for another kiss. This time Natasha picked the brunette up in her arms, legs wrapped around her waist, arms around her neck, placing her back up against the wall. This time the kiss was so much more intimate, tongues dancing, little quiet whimpers as she peppered her neck with kisses.
Pulling away from the kiss, nothing but shaky breaths, Y/n didn't want this to end so she quickly chased Natasha' lips and pulled her back in once more. This is the happiest moment both women have had throughout all the chaos going on. For once they felt at peace being with each other. Natasha was just happy to have finally have her favourite woman here in her arms, and Y/n was the exact same. Both women felt so safe with each other here together.

Part one
“Get up.” A gruff voice ordered as the cell door slammed open.
Two pairs of rough hands forced you onto your feet and practically dragged you out of the room. Lifting your body, they practically slammed you onto a bed and strapped you in hoping to avoid escape. But at this point, you’ve given up, allowing the guards to throw you around like a ragdoll. Bruises littered your body, some shaped like handprints while others resembled boots and bats, a few cuts scattered over your face alongside a black eye from the numerous beatings the guards had given you.
“Good morning, Miss Y/L/N.” A voice you’d become accustomed to, greeted. “I see you’ve survived another night,” Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker stared down at you, hand reaching out and tracing the needle marks on your bare shoulder, a smug smile on his face as he did.
It had been a few months since you had been caught on a routine surveillance mission. Originally scoping out what the team thought was a double agent, which turned out to be true. They just didn’t expect there to be a second, who knew about the mission and alerted Hydra to it all. Now, you found yourself in some underground Hydra base as Strucker injected you with serum after serum and ran test after test.
“How’re we feeling today?” Strucker wondered, looking over your battered and bruised form.
A light wheezing sound joined the pain in your abdomen as you breathed, causing you to think that the guards had bruised your ribs, possibly cracked a few, but you stayed silent nonetheless. Just watching him through bleary eyes as he readied the latest syringe of whatever concoction the Hydra lab had made up.
“Still keeping to the silent treatment, yes?” He asked, turning to look at you. “Nevermind, I do not need you to be vocal for this.”
He lifted the syringe. The liquid inside glowed bright orange, readying it against your arm only to withdraw it at the distant sound of an explosion as the room rocked with the aftershocks. He shook his head with a sigh as he moved to stand.
“Watch her.” He directed at a guard before turning to two others. “You two, with me.” The three left the room while the guard who was left levelled his gun and aimed at the door.
“That’s a stupid idea.” You rasped, the scratchiness in your dry throat worsening after not talking for a while. “They’ll take you down in a second.” Your laughter quickly turned into a cough that rose through your chest, the pain worsening in your abdomen as it did. The guard cast you a side glance, never lowering his gun from the door. “Fine, don’t listen to me.”
You gave up trying to convince him, deciding to just settle down and listening to the gunshots, explosions and shouts of pain that grew ever louder as the ‘attackers’ grew ever closer. Just as you were about to close your eyes, a voice from outside caught your attention and even through all the chaos, you could always pull that familiar voice out.
“Y/N?!”
“Wanda?” You mumbled, confusion filling your mind at the thought of your fiance (you still couldn’t believe that you got to call her that, by the way) here to rescue you. “It can’t be.”
Your suspicions were confirmed when a flash of red passed by the small window on the door. With watery eyes and a soft smile, you gulped, the pain in your throat aggravated by the movement but you didn’t care before you shouted. “WANDA!!” The coughing fit following shortly after did nothing to stop you from shouting again. “WANDA! I’M HERE.”
You began wriggling in your binds hoping to knock something loose to be able to escape. The guard to your side casting a cautionary glance your way, before deciding to drop his weapon and aide you only to jump away when the door was flung open, a thunderous bang sounding when it bounced off the wall.
“GET AWAY FROM HER!!” Wanda screamed, eyes ablaze with red as she approached the pair of you, lifting the young man into the air by his throat, red wisps restricting his airflow quickly as he was pulled further away. Natasha followed behind, widows bite alight with electricity.
“Wanda, it’s ok,” you coughed sitting up. “He was helping me to get free of this.” Slowly she walked over to you, a deadly glare still trained on the Hydra guard as she did, her gaze only softening back to her gorgeous green eyes when she finally turned to you.
“I thought I lost you,” she mumbled, watery green eyes casting a curious once over down your battered & bruised body before connecting once again with your own briefly before she spotted your bare shoulder. As she reached out, ghosting her fingertips over the faint needle marks on your shoulder, you saw the flecks of red reappear in her eyes as she put the pieces together.
“Hey, I’m ok.” You whispered, leaning forward and cupping her face, coercing her into looking at you. “Wanda, please look at me.” Eventually, you locked eyes, any trace of red disappearing once more as she gingerly placed her forehead against yours. “You won’t ever lose me. I’m yours forever, remember?”
“Uh, guys,” Natasha said, cutting your moment short. “Sorry to interrupt but if we wanna get outta here, we gotta go now.”
“Give me a sec.” You nodded. “Babe,” you acknowledged Wanda. “I don’t suppose you brought me a change of clothes by chance?”
“Where are you guys?” Steve’s voice crackled through the coms. “We’re heading back to the Quinjet now.” A soft thud sounding in the background as he knocked another Hydra agent to the floor.
“Be there soon Cap,” Natasha answered. “We got a little sidetracked.” The older woman looked to the other women in the room, a brief smile crossing her face before getting serious again as she looked into the hall.
“How sidetracked are we talking, Romanoff?” Stark questioned, a distant explosion sounded after he made himself known.
Wanda stayed silent at the side of the gurney that her love was previously strapped to, while the team checked in. A million thoughts running through her head, most bad but they were quickly pushed out as she looked over her fiance as she pulled some clean clothes on. The strongest thought of all was how she wanted to find Strucker and rip him apart for hurting the woman she loved.
“Wanda?” You inquired, now in front of her, fully dressed. “Calm down, please? I’m alright, I promise.” You threaded your fingers with hers and raised them to your lips, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand.
“How’d you know?” She quizzed, tilting her head to the side in confusion, a light blush settling on her face at your actions.
“I called your name twice and you didn’t answer.” You explained. “Also, your eyes were turning red, and your powers were manifesting in your hand.” You turned to Natasha, who was still stood by the door. “Nat, let’s get outta here.” The older redhead nodded before the three of you made your way out.
Quinjet
“They should be here by now,” Steve said, he and Clint fighting off any stragglers who attempted to try and stop them.
“They’ll be here,” Clint grunted, knocking another arrow and releasing it towards a group of Hydra.
“I got them,” Tony announced hovering above the now crumbling building. “Looks like they’ve found someone.”
“Wait, that’s not just someone!” Clint realized, spotting the three get closer, quickly knocking a guy to the ground. “That’s Y/N!”
“Quick, everyone into the jet!” Steve ordered, smacking another enemy agent to the floor.
Barely a foot away from the jet you lost your footing, falling face-first into the ground, the sudden impact jarring your already painful chest.
“Fuck!” You groaned as Tony, clad in his Iron man suit lifted you into his arms and rushed the both of you into the jet.
“Language!” Steve scolded before he even realized. You heard Tony snicker in amusement under his helmet as he set you carefully onto your feet.
“Glad to have you back, kid.” The billionaire told you, setting a hand on your shoulder.
“Glad to be back, Stark.” You replied, catching Wanda’s eye over his shoulder. “Now, if you’ll excuse me. I wanna sit with my fiance.” You pushed him to the side and made your way over to your favourite redhead.
“Dorogaya (Darling)?” Wanda queried, as you paused mid-step bracing yourself against the wall. “Y/N? Are you ok?” Was the last thing you heard before everything went dark.

Healed Scars (pt. II) - (Preview)
A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been too active lately, there was a lot going on in here and I didn't have much free time to write. But anyway, I'm planning to work a bit on the requests this weekend and hopefully they will be posted soon! Until then, enjoy this little preview of Healed Scars, pt. 2!^^
Part 1
**************************************
A soft knock on the glass doors of the lab brought you out of your thoughts. Looking up, you found Wanda staring silently at you.
“Hey, is something wrong?” You asked, placing the designs aside.
“No, just wondered if you were going to join us for movie night.”
“Sorry, but I don’t share Steve’s taste for classics.” You chuckled.
“Same, to be honest…” She smiled shyly. “Do you mind if I stay with you instead?”
“Not at all! Make yourself comfortable.”
With a whispered ‘thank you’, Wanda slipped inside the lab and made her way to the desk you were working at.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y., please, can you tell the others that (Y/N) and I won’t be going?”
“Of course, Miss Maximoff.” The AI replied immediately, before the room fell again into silence.
It wasn’t an awkward silence, as Wanda had expected at first. She actually found herself enjoying it, watching you work while you hummed quietly to yourself.
After some minutes seeing you move around the place, her curiosity won.
“What are you working on?” The sokovian girl quizzed, peeking at the different papers and blueprints scattered across the desk and displayed on the holographic screens. “I- I mean, if it’s okay to ask.”
“It's alright.” You chuckled again. “I’m working on new updates for my suit, it got some pretty bad hits on the last mission.”
“The one in Greece, last week?” When you nodded, she frowned. “And are you okay? Steve said it was a hard one.”
“Just got some bruises on my side and upper back. I’ll be fine, though.” Wanda seemed conflicted, but decided to let go of the topic.
A sudden blur entered the lab, stopping just beside the young witch. The papers on the desk flew around, and Pietro quickly picked them up, handing them back with a guilty expression on his face.
“Sorry, (Y/N/N).” The boy apologized.
“No harm done, don’t stress about it Speedy.” You laughed, leaving the designs on the desk again. “What brings you here, Pietro?”
“I was looking for my dear twin sister, but seems like she found good company by herself.” He teased her, ruffling her hair slightly. You couldn’t help but smile a bit when Wanda smacked his shoulder, blushing from embarrassment.
“вести себя (Behave.)” Wanda muttered, eyes flashing red playfully towards the speedster.
“Что я сделал? (What did I do?)” Pietro whined jokingly, still not having enough fun. “Подождите, вы не хотите, чтобы они знали? (Wait, you don’t want them to know?)” He smirked lightly when Wanda blushed even harder.
“Заткнись (Shut up)” She mumbled. You chuckled at their antics, shaking your head and going back to your work. “Please, don’t tell me you understood that…” Wanda asked, eyes wide in panic.
“No, I didn’t, don’t worry.” You laughed.
“Hey, what’s this?” Pietro caught your attention by picking up a small device.
“Oh, it’s for better accuracy.”
“So your suit finds enemies with this?”
“No, it’s to avoid shooting you by accident Speedy. You always end up in front of me.” You remarked, earning a huff from him and a laugh from Wanda.
“Oh, and wha-”
Before Pietro could finish his next question, Clint and Natasha knocked on the lab’s doors, catching your attention.
“Hey guys, mind if we steal (Y/N) away? Something came up and Stark can’t join us on this mission, so we need the little one to fight his battle.” Nat smirked, gesturing for you to suit up.
“I’m taller than you, Romanoff, so don’t call me that.” You shot back playfully, selecting your second suit and stepping into a platform. Extending your arms, you waited until the suit finished wrapping around you before following after them.
“(Y/N/N), wait!” Wanda approached you as the three of you were about to leave the room. She bit her lip, wondering what her next step would be, and decided on giving you a hug. It was a little awkward, but it was enough for the both of you. “Good luck, and take care, okay? And you too.” The sokovian girl added, looking at both agents smiling knowingly at each other.
“Of course. Now, let’s go, gotta get working!”

From Russia With Love
Summary: When Steve and Bucky investigate an old HYDRA base left over from World War II, they find something nobody could have ever predicted... A pilot from the legendary 588th night bomber regiment frozen in time.
 Word Count: 2117
 Square Filled: Military Base
 Pairings: Bucky x Female Reader
 Warnings: WWII warfare, slight angst
Written for @star-spangled-bingo
Author’s Note: Although I will be using real historical people and events, some of the names and actions I will be using are fictional. The 588th night bomber regiment were an all female squadron from Russia in World War II. They were given hand-me-down men’s uniforms and poor, outdated equipment. Their planes were not designed for combat. The planes let out a whistle as it idled through the sky which the German’s thought sounded like a broomstick, giving them the nickname ‘Die Nachthexen’ or Night Witches.
Germany, 1944. Three Polikarpov U-2 biplanes move silently through the night sky, their engines cut at the behest of the navigators. A soldier was making his rounds about the perimeter of the base when an unearthly scream pierced the air. A chill ran down his spine as he looked around. Suddenly, a shadow of a plane darkens the ground. The soldier abruptly realised what was happening.
“Die Nachthexen!” he screamed. The base was rapidly brought to life with activity when the air raid siren wailed. Soldiers rushed to man the anti-aircraft guns as the Night Witches dropped the first bomb. Two of the planes broke formation to draw away the ground fire as the third dropped the next bomb. The last plane made a sharp turn and was able to drop the last bomb on the base. With their mission complete, the engines went back on and the planes headed home to Russia.
Out of nowhere, a German fighter plane appeared. The biplanes were slower but their much smaller size gave them an advantage in the fact they had a tight turning ratio but for one plane, it wasn’t enough. One of the pilots cried out in pain as a bullet grazed her arm. The canvas wings of the plane were ablaze, there was no other option but to bring the plane down. The navigator held the pilot’s shoulders to steady her as they crashed into the ground.
Dazed by the impact, the pilot held her head, feeling something wet and warm drip down her face. She turned behind her to check on her navigator whose head was slumped to her chest. She reached for her hand.
“Yelena... I’m sorry...” Black spots swam in her vision before the darkness took over.
...
Germany, present day. Steve and Bucky were called on a mission to investigate what was possibly a HYDRA base left over from WWII. On their way in, they noticed the remains of a downed plane a few miles out from the base that nature had taken over in the course of sixty years give or take. On the surface, it had the hell bombed out of it. Steve managed to find a charred door in amongst the wreckage and went in, Bucky following behind. Underground was a rabbit warren of rooms and passageways, their secrets lost to time, waiting to be uncovered.
“We should split up,” Steve said, getting out his flashlight. Bucky nodded and got out his own. The duo headed in, checking each and every room for anything that might be of HYDRA origin.
This place gave Bucky the creeps and bad memories began to invade his mind; memories of when he lost his identity of Sergeant James Buchannan Barnes and given the new one of The Winter Soldier. Room after room they looked in until Steve found something.
“Buck, you gotta see this...” Bucky made his way to where Steve called him to and whatever he was expecting, this was not it. The room was still lit with sickening fluorescent lights. In the back corner, there were two pods. One was empty, whatever test subject it held was long gone. The other had a woman still cryogenically frozen inside. Bucky placed his right hand on the glass.
 “She’s just like me...”
“Think you can make sense of these?” Steve asked, holding up a dusty file written in German. Bucky picked them up and read through the notes. It stated the woman’s name and why she was there. There was also information on a second woman, presumably whoever was in the second pod. Apparently, they were going to be used for a programme akin to the Winter Soldiers or the Red Room but the project had been scrapped and only one of the subjects was moved.
“I’m going to let Fury know what we’ve found.” Steve headed out to make the call but Bucky stayed behind. He couldn’t leave this woman all alone now that he knew she was there.
...
Feeling a pounding in your head, you opened your eyes. Slowly, you sat up, looking around. You appeared to be back in your base. Funny... you didn’t remember making it back. The last thing you remembered was crashing after completing a mission. Was a rescue sent out and that’s how you got here? You spotted another woman in one of the other beds. Steadily, you got up and went over to her.
“Come on, Yelena. We’ve got another mission,” you said, shaking her shoulder. As she sat up, you immediately noticed that this was not your navigator.
 “You’re not Yelena...”
“No, I’m a new recruit. My name is Natalia Romanova,” she replied in Russian.
“Well I hope you’re a quick study, Natalia. Major Bershanskaya will not make things easy for you. Now get ready. Training for you starts now.”
As you got dressed, something struck you as very odd. Your uniform fitted perfectly like it was tailored for you and your boots weren’t oversized. It set off alarm bells in your head but you didn’t want to frighten the new girl. As you headed out, you saw an officer standing and waiting for you.
“Who are you?” you asked, confused as to why this man would be here, especially one who looked so high up in command. Something else that you noticed was that there were planes around the base.
“I’m your new commanding officer...” That did it. There was no way your commander would leave her girls. You managed to snatch his sidearm but even faster, Natalia had you in a headlock, one hand holding the wrist you held the gun.
“Who are you?! Where am I?! What have you done with Yelena?! Where is my navigator?!” The pair exchanged a look and conversed in English, something you didn’t understand.
“I can explain everything... just give me the gun,” the man prompted. Slowly, you handed him the sidearm which he put away and Natalia let go of you.
“You have been asleep for over sixty years...”
“What?! How?! We... we were just there... and... Yelena! Where is she? Is she okay? Is she safe?” The pair exchanged another look.
“You were the only one we found in the base...” You broke down sobbing and straight away the man held you up as you trembled. He rubbed your back and stroked your hair which you found strangely comforting. How could you have been asleep for sixty years? It was only hours ago you were flying to drop bombs on German bases.
...
A few hours later, you were sitting by the window of the room which had been set up for you thinking over all the new information which had been given to you. They had given you new clothes but the only ones who spoke your language were the ones you met at the fake base camp. Your thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
“May I come in?” A male’s voice asked.
“Yes...” The man who you came to learn was named Bucky walked in with a plate of food.
“I thought you might like something to eat...”
 “I’m not hungry...”
“I know what you’re going through but you still need to eat...”
“How could you possibly know what I’m going through?! Do you know what it’s like to be with friends one minute and find out they’re all gone?! To wake up in a strange place with strange people?! To have no idea what the hell is going on?!” He was quiet for a few moments.
“Actually... I do.” You were taken aback from his response. Bucky sat down on your bed and began telling you his life’s story.
He told you about his best friend Steve who always used to getting in trouble. He enlisted in the American army the moment he could. His time in the Howling Commandos. About how he fell off the train and became a weapon for HYDRA for decades. As he spoke, his eyes began to ghost over, reliving the old memories that you could see were haunting him. You sat next to him and held his hand. Bucky hastily wiped his eyes.
“What about you? Tell me your story...”
You smiled softly. You told him about your father who died defending Osowiec Fortress and how it inspired you to fight for your country. When the call went out for women to fly bomber planes, you and your best friend Yelena Belsky both applied and got in, you as a pilot and she as a navigator. You flew many sorties together. Your commander Major Yevdokiya Bershanskaya was stern but fair with you girls but taught you everything you knew. You spoke about your last mission, the one you were on when your plane was shot down.
Bucky listened to your every word, looking at you with total admiration. Most of the men looked at you with pity or distain. You couldn’t help but blush a little under his intense gaze.
“I, um... I think I’ll have something to eat now,” you mumbled, taking the plate he brought with him. “Thank you...”
“Anytime... if you ever want to talk, you can always come to me. Nat should be available too...”
 “I appreciate that.”
To Bucky, those memories were a lifetime ago but to you, they were only like yesterday. It somehow felt good to share those stories with someone who understood what it was like to go through the same thing you were.
...
The months flew by and before you knew it, a year had passed. Between Natasha and Bucky you were now fluent in English. They taught you hand to hand combat and other things you would need to join The Avengers, although, you were pretty much an ace pilot when it came to the jets. Natasha became your best friend and you frequently spoke in Russian with her. You formed a bond with Steve too once the language barrier came down, sharing war stories with each other but the person on the team you were closest to was Bucky. He taught you a lot over the months and it wasn’t long before you started dating. It was inevitable.
...
One night, you were standing on the balcony, looking at the moon and thinking about that fateful night you were assigned to bomb that base all those years ago. You wondered if your friend was dead or alive. The team had told you they would help you find her, searching all HYDRA archives they came across and Bucky helped you to follow every lead. Your heart hoped for the best but you knew to expect the worst.
“Hey, Doll.” You turned to see Bucky standing in the doorway. He walked over to you and put his arm around you, kissing your head. “What’s on your mind?”
“Yelena... I can’t help but hope that I’ll find her one day. She was like my sister. Natasha has been wonderful, you all have but it’s hard being stuck in the past...”
“Tell me about it,” Bucky muttered softly. “You know... it’s been just over a year now since we met...”
“So it has,” you wistfully replied. “Time sure flies...”
“It sure does... and I don’t want to waste any more of it.” You looked confused as Bucky pulled away from you.
“When I was called on that mission to uncover an old HYDRA base, I never thought I would meet the love of my life. You’re one of the bravest, strongest, most incredibly women I know. Will you marry me?” Bucky got down on one knee and presented you with a beautiful ring. You couldn’t help but tear up.
“Yes, Bucky, I will!” Bucky smiled and stood up, sliding the ring on your finger and kissing you.
Who knew that a German base lost to time would connect two military personals so perfectly together?

“Fine, Yulia. It's that bad,” Bruce said.
“Yeah,” Val told him, “I’ll look after Yulia for you, I know Nat is terrifying to you.”
After a few minutes of catching up with each other, I asked her to tell Banner and Rocket I was going and jumped until I was on Nat’s quinjet.
“So, Clint went insane and is now a serial killer?” I asked as I took a seat next to her.
“So glad you could join me. And no, well yes but he has his reasons, like any of us.”
“OK, so not a serial killer, just a killer who kills other killers. Because that makes everything OK,” I told her, raising an eyebrow.
“If you kill a killer the number of killers in the world remains the same. If you kill more than one the number goes down,” she said landing the plane.
“But revenge isn't a path well travelled by anyone.”
“We need a better hobby than finding random sayings on the internet.”
“Or we could do this mission and save the world, my world,” I said thinking back to the last time I spoke to Wanda on our girls night before she disappeared.
“I get it, you want your sister back. But we need my friend back to get her and the others back.”
“Why can’t life be easy?”
“Because a life worth living is a life hard fought.”
“Yeah yeah yeah, I get it Nat. Fight for what you believe in, don’t trust the government and stark is an idiot. Any other life lessons you want to teach me or can we catch us a serial killer?” I asked her.
“Not today. And for the last time he’s not a serial killer.”
“He has killed multiple people that he had no connection with, correct?”
“Yes?”
“He’s a serial killer. That’s the definition of a serial killer.”
“Then I’m one too, little Maximoff.”
“So am I and your point is?” Then I came to a realization, “Was that meant to scare me?”

“Why do I get stuck on watching duty?” I whined to Tony and Steve.
“Because we don’t know what this will do to your developing brain,” Steve told me as I glared at him.
“Plus, we don’t like you,” Tony said to me when Steve walked away.
“Steve! Natasha! Tony’s being mean to me!” I screamed, acting like a child.
“Tony play nice, she’s just a kid,” Nat told him.
“Why do they side with you?” he asked me.
“I’m sweet, nice and I make cookies for them,” I told him, “The way to the captain’s heart is through chocolate chip cookies.”
“Steve, she’s a bitch,” Tony said, moving away from me.
“Language!” I yelled back going to the briefing room ready for the briefing.
“Okay, so the "how" works. Now we gotta figure out the when and the where. Almost all of us has had an encounter with at least one of the six Infinity Stones,” Steve told the team.
“Well I'd substitute the word encounter for damn well near been killed by one of the six Infinity Stones,” Tony spoke up.
“I nearly destroyed one,” I said, shrugging.
“We only have enough Pym Particles for one round trip each, and these stones have been in a lot of different places throughout history,” Bruce said.
“Our history. So, not a lot of convenient spots to just drop in,” Tony added.
“Which means we have to pick our targets,” Clint told the room.
“Correct,” Tony replied.
“Let's start with the Aether. Thor, what do you know?” Steve said as all of our heads turned to Thor in the corner, with his sunglasses on it was impossible to tell if he was asleep or not.
“Is he asleep?” Nat asked.
“No I think he’s dead,” Rhodey replied.
“I’ll find out,” I told them, picking up a pen and throwing it across the room at him, hitting him square on the head.
He woke up straight after and I could feel him glaring at me, “Where to start? Umm... The Aether, first, is not a stone, someone called it a stone before. It's more of a... an angry sludge thing, so... someones gonna need to amend that. Here's an interesting story though, many years ago... My grandfather had to hide the stones from the Dark Elves…” He wiggles his fingers to imitate a spooky ghost, “Wooooh, scary beings. So Jane, oh, there she is. That's Jane... She's... an old flame of mine... She... she stuck her hand inside a rock this one time... and then the Aether stuck itself inside her... And, she became very, very sick. So I had to take her to Asgard, which is where I'm from. And we had to try and fix her. We were dating at the time, you see. I got to introduce her to my Mother... who's dead,” he started to look broken, and seemed on the verge of tears, “and oh you know, Jane and I aren't even dating anymore, these things happen though you know, nothing last forever,” Tony started to push him back to his chair in an attempt to quieten him, “I'm not done yet, the only thing permanent in life is impermanence.”
“Awesome. Eggs? Breakfast?” Tony asked the group.
“I'd like a Bloody Mary, thank you,” Thor said as I scoffed.
“And I’d like my family to be alive and yet here we are,” I told him getting up to go to the kitchen, “So do it yourself, asshole.”

“Quill said he stole the Power Stone from Morag,” Rocket said, pacing on the table.
“Is that a person?” Scott said while I played on my phone.
“Morag's a planet. Quill was a person,” Rocket snapped out.
“A planet? Like in outer space?” Scott looked like a small boy going to go to the museum for the first time.
“Oh, look. It's like a little puppy, all happy and everything. [Imitating talking to a puppy] Do you wanna go to space? You wanna go to space, puppy? I'll get you to space,” Rocket said to Scott as I raised my hand and he high five me.
“Oh god why were you two introduced,” Nat muttered into her fork.

“Thanos found the Soul Stone on Vormir,” Nebula informed us back in the meeting room.
“What is Vormir?” Natasha asked seriously, taking notes with me.
“A dominion of death, at the very center of Celestial existence. It's where... Thanos murdered my sister,” Nebula told her. Nat looked up, and an awkward silence fell upon the room. She writes what Nebula has just said.
“Not it,” Scott tried to joke to the crowd.
Tumblr media
Nat and Tony were laying on the table with all of their papers scattered around them, while Bruce was on the floor and I was lounging in the desk chair, braiding Nat’s hair. When the time stone popped up on the monitor.
“That Time Stone guy…” Nat started.
“Doctor Strange,” Bruce spoke.
“Yeah, what kind of doctor was he?” I asked the group.
“Ear-nose-throat meets rabbit from a hat,” Tony told me.
“Nice place in the village, though,” Bruce said awkwardly.
“Yeah. Sullivan Street,” Tony said.
“Hmm... Bleecker,” Bruce corrected him.
“Wait, he lived in New York?” Nat asked looking up at me seeing if I connected the dots.
“No. He lived in Toronto,” Tony said.
“Guys, if you pick the right year, there are three stones in New York,” Me and Natasha said in unison.
“Shut the front door,” Bruce said, sitting up faster than I ever could.
“How many Phd.s do you have between you again? Because it sure seems like a teenage girl and a former ballerina outsmarted two of the smartest people in the world,” I said cheekily.
“So you guys have a plan?” Steve asked standing in the doorway.
“We sure do,” I told him, there was a gnawing thought at the back of my mind but I wasn’t sure what it was.
Tumblr media
As they all walked into the hanger I had to yell at them, the urge was not something I couldn’t overcome.
“STOP BEING SO DRAMATIC!” I screeched at them, “You’re not models your superheros who have to go and save my sister and everyone else who went snap. OK this is not the time for drama this is the time for action and if I can’t come with you, you’re going to do this as though I’m hunting you down until you get the stones. Kapeesh?”
“Yes ma’am,” Steve told me, while some of the others looked at me scared.
“I like you,” Nebula told me.
“So do I,” said Rocket.
“Love you little one, I’ll see you real soon,” Nat said to me as they all climbed the stairs to their doom.
“Wait!” I said causing everyone to stop, “Can I have a hug, Nat?”
“Sure, come here,” She said as I ran up to her, giving her a hug that I hoped conveyed how much I love her and look up to her, “I love you, Yulia. If anything happens to me you know where everything is buried and I want you to find Yelena and Melina and give them the boxes marked for them. And you and Wanda get my apartment in little Odessa. Everything will be OK. I’ll be OK. But if I’m not you have to move on and be brave for me. I love you Yulia, you're like my little sister.” She spoke to me softly in Russian.
“OK, but if anything happens to you, I’m killing whoever is responsible or guiltiest,” I told her going down the steps.
“Yulia, go to the control room and flick the switch, we’ve got it from there,” Bruce told her as she walked away.
“Cool. I love you Nat, Steve, little raccoon thing! Nebula, keep being a badass!” I yelled, flicking the switch as Steve gave the team a pep talk.
When they arrived back a minute later, I stood up. I then noticed something. Nat. Where was Natasha?
“W...W...Nat?” I screamed at Clint trying to calm my breath, “She said you would protect her, that you would make sure her fate changed! She knew she was going to her doom and she thought you would stop it! That’s why we came to find you! YOU BASTARD! YOU WERE MEANT TO KEEP HER SAFE!! AND WHERE IS SHE ASSHOLE! WHERE IS NAT! WHERE IS MY MENTOR,” I kept yelling at him while Steve ran up to me to calm me down.
“It’s OK Yulia, she might be late and anyway I’m sure Clint tried his hardest,” He tried to sooth me as I cried into his shoulder giving up on yelling at Clint.
“I don’t think he did, I really don’t think he did, Steve,” I cried.
“It’s OK, just breathe. It’ll be OK, it’ll be OK. We can bring her back. And Wanda and maybe Pietro,” Tony told me.
“Kid, I’m sorry,” Clint said as I tried to grab Nebula’s sword to stab him but Steve stopped me.
“Violence isn’t the answer, Yulia. What would Nat do?” Steve asked me.
“She’d get revenge, Steve. She’d forgive and then stab him like Brutus did to Caesar,” I said looking up at him hurt. Natasha was my only family left, none of these other people had become family. So what was I meant to do now? My parents are dead. My sister’s gone. Pietro’s gone. Kat, Ruby both gone. Now Nat. Who do I have left in this world? Steve? Not really, sure he’s kinda like a brother but he doesn’t know russian and he doesn’t know what the experiments feel like when not done in safe american labs. Tony? No he hates my guts. Carol? She’s in space too much. Kate. I still have Kate, though currently I don’t know where she is or if she’s alive since the last time I spoke to her.
I have no one. SO I have nothing to lose. If this doesn’t work I can find Kate and hope she and Steve can become my family, but if it does I might have everyone back except my parents. I have to make that happen, I just can’t have ghost Nat appear otherwise she’s actually dead, well as dead as Pietro which isn’t very dead. I mean it’s deader than Wanda but still not that dead.
Death’s confusing truly.
I was spiralling at this point, on the floor of the hanger just waiting for it all to dissolve into the stream of consciousness when Steve spoke to me, “Yulia why don’t I take you to Nat’s room and you can have a nap while we discuss this as adults?” All I could do was nod in response and try to push myself off the ground unsuccessfully. “Don’t worry I can carry you,” Steve told me as he picked me up, my brain still whirling at the thought of Nat being dead.
Once I was in her room and Steve was sure that I was safe I got up and walked over to her closet to see the message she told me to look at in a situation like this, it brought a smile to my face: “A Widow Never Really Dies Yulia, and I will always be with you in your heart. I love you little M.”
“A widow never really dies,” I muttered to myself curling up in her old winter coats for a nap. It smelt of her that’s the only reason I did it truly. I miss her so much.
