#To Shape A Dragon’s Breath #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #this is really really good i loved it! #the chapter titles are all like snippets of a story. or like sentence fragments that match up. which is cool #it is definitely more about being indigenous in a coloniser institution than Dragon School - not Super dragon heavy if you want that #I suspect the subsequent books will get into that when she gets big enough to ride and stuff #t’s also def YA! i’ve seen a few ppl assume it’s adult and be like its very young :( but like. I mean its perfectly reasonable for a 15yo m #definitely a Lot of racism and colonialism which is not fun to read! though it's still through a YA lens. there was def a part of me that #was imagining consequences of the narrative as if it were an adult novel #on that line of thought - at the end a lot of it is kind of solved by them going to the king and he's is like. oh no racism is happening? #that's bad i'll deal with those people! which felt like. a little simplistic. but maybe the easiest way to end the narrative for book 1 - #I don't think the author ACTUALLY is going to portray the king as a Good Guy throughout the series - it just felt conveniently like - #a simple YA solution to some very big and complex elements? if that makes sense? i feel like i need to go back and reread the earlier manga even though they were retconned within the timeline but i feel so bad for mei in chapter 15 :(

i think it was in st.freya high/escape from nagazora (which i know are ggz or honkai gakuen 2 manga but it was on the reading list so i read it anyways asdlkfah), but i think a lot about how she was so afraid of her powers as a herrscher, and how it was kiana that had saved her back then.

there's "will of the herrscher" where she finds out that kiana's the herrscher of the void, and in parallel with escape from nagazora, mei tries to save kiana, and calling out to kiana, she does manage to get kiana's consciousness back but loses it so quickly and soon enough loses kiana in the process

then finally over in arc city, when she thought she would be able to reunite with kiana and bring kiana back home -- even despite everything, even despite how much kiana feels like she doesn't deserve to go home -- she still isn't able to save kiana the way kiana had saved her several times now, and how powerless she must feel against durandal taking kiana away from her.

she just wants kiana back :( please reunite them...

#also look at this little cat 🥺 he was so dirty at the start and they cleaned him so well #it reminded me of when i last cleaned my old stuffed cat #i can never get her back to her original color. she was orange and it just faded over time a lot so she's a dull brown now #but i cleaned her up a little and brushed and fluffed her #even got risky and did surgery to give her some more stuffing so she could sit upright again #and she looked so beautiful!!!! #her eyes and nose are chipped and her whiskers have been gone for a long time too but i cant fix that #i dont need to tho i think it adds character :^) #srry im rambling now i just love my stuffed cat dearly. ive had her since i was 2 #tldr i love stuffed animals #i think caring for them is such a beautiful and pure form of love #to know they aren't real but still treat them gently. just because it feels good to. ❤️ #my posts

i went to a Retreat for the first time for work earlier 0: and I did SO good for being up since 2am it didn't even feel like it 💀

it was so chill i drove like an hour away but Away from the city so there wasn't rly traffic and the mountains r so pretty 2 drive thru (❁´◡`❁) got some rain n v low clouds and since it's autumn there's all these pretty colors. i took an edible on the way n was just jammin out n enjoying the scenery among the many safe opportunities 2 look

and then at the thing we got 2 do different ice breakers n go on decently long breaks; i got 2 hang in different groups n actually Talk w a bunch of ppl which i never have time for omg. it's nice working at a legal nonprofit, i would NOT want to do this with corporate mfs !! 😹

went around n said hii to the enbies and i ran up a hill that looked a lot smaller than it was, i made it like 80% of the way before my legs were immediately like no girl we're done !! but my brain was like but it's Right There, and i struggled 2 finish the climb but I Did !! ૮ ᴖﻌᴖა and i was so so tired i do not remember ever being that winded before 💀 getting down was so much slower n worse bc my legs were Done and when i finally made it to the bottom i laid flat on my back for like 15m, and when when i made it back to sit n chill i still need like 10 more minutes akskska. i do not b exercising !! i just wanted 2 play it looked fun and i got excited (⁠｡⁠ﾉ⁠ω⁠＼⁠｡⁠)

in between things i was working on my sister's choker n kept winding up w a group of ppl around me 2 talk to about it and just talk 2 in general n the company was rly nice (❁´◡`❁) ♡ had a lot of different kinda talks 2day!! everyone is a sweetie!! some ppl r so funny n chill and i rly hope 2 get 2 talk more casually w people perhaps As Friends when i go in 👉👈

#okay so some background: i work in a wellness center that has a good handful of medical services along with our other ones and one of the #medical services we offer is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?? <- in case you don't know what that is it's basically like a sleeping bag that we #zip you up in and give you a nasal canal with 90% oxygen and we pressurize the bag so it's similar to going up in an airplane. it's good fo #mental clarity and also for getting better sleep. like 1 hour in there is equivalent to 4 hours of REM sleep. super cool!! #also we use walkie-talkies to communicate with you since you're all sealed up in there and it takes like 10 minutes to pressurize up n down #however!! one of the other benefits is that it can help with symptoms of dementia. i've seen people with brain injuries come in before but #today was my first time seeing someone do it for dementia. and he brought his wife in with him for support #i just walked over and saw her sitting on the floor beside the chamber he was in and she was smiling and staring at him through the window #she was speaking into the walkie and laughing with him and i just. the idea of her wanting to be with him in these hard moments 🥺 #she's now reading a book but still sitting right there on the ground beside him. my nurse offered her a chair but she's not leaving his sid #i just i can't y'all i love love. #chelsea speaks
