Lmao I’m so sorry but I’m in my season 4 rewatch so I have a lot of thoughts about brio but it is so hilarious to see what an attention whore Rio was this season- I know obviously he’s setting an example for when she messes up but COME ON, everytime he knows he has her attention he is just down right giddy. I’d go as far to say that when he “kidnaps” Annie it’s one of the highlights for him of the season, she can’t ignore him now! (Side note that was such a good brio episode, when Beth said “he should’ve taken me” and Annie said “he never will” SOFT)

And then again later on when he DOESNT have her attention, when she’s doing the cash thing at the strip club and he saunters over and asks for his cut and she doesn’t even look at him when she tells him where it is- he doesn’t even end up going for the money he just starts interrogating her about Nick! When she has the audacity to read him to filth about his jealousy and even tease him about it, he’s straight up like “yeah okay box up your campaign money too:) what’s that? You need it? Well I guess NICK can sort that out for you since you two are SO CLOSE all of a sudden”.

Then when that doesn’t work to get her attention he just be brainstorming ‘okay wow this woman is an enigma how am I supposed to get her on my side? Giving all her stuff back and being on her side about things? Idk if it will work but okay’ and then it DOES and he is so godamn smug and cheerful for the rest of the finale because she chose HIM and Nick is GOING DOWN. My man Rio manifested it🫶

Your sense of humor is basically the highlight of my day. Rio was insane in s4. I had a list at one point of Rio’s Wooing Tips, where he has no idea how to actually be nice to his crush to get the things he wants from her. This is how we know Rio was written for the female gaze. He has basically 0 self respect when it comes to his 😍one true love😍 and this is exactly what we want in a man. Someone who’s capable of murder, but will cry in a bar because we didn’t smile at him that day.

When Kendall goes "tell the other side" at the funeral, that'so genuinely interesting, because babe? There is no other side. Arguably, Ewan covered it all. Yes, he talked about Logan Roy, the man that made the world just a little worse, a little less kind for his presence in it. But. He also talked about Logan the child that left and lost a sister, that experienced war and abuse, Logan who was his brother that he loved.

That's why Kendall can only really rehash the negative aspects Ewan mentioned and try to turn them into positives. Money and power, doesn't everyone in here like those things? Oh boy, I sure hope I can be like my father and have money and power, two things that totally don't corrupt people.

That's why Shiv can only really bring up the fatherhood aspect in a eulogy that so cleary speaks to her resentment and complicated love of Logan. Dear, dear world of a father. The father who, for many women, is the first man in their lives that doesn't measure up. That they can't measure up for.

That's why Roman can't speak at all, because Ewan's speech forces him to confront the fact that, yes, it's all true. The person he wanted to imitate and hold onto was Logan, the father he loved and wanted to be loved by; but also (more so) Logan the cruel man, the father that hurt him. Over and over. He can't say that out loud, so he expresses it in a different way.

If grief is an admission of love, it may as well be the realization of its absence. Can we get him out? Can we bring him back for one last round? Just to see if maybe this time he can love us right? Just to make sure? But no. No, you can't, and you'd be disappointed by the result in any case.

Rayla is such a sad girl, man. She gets misunderstood by 80% of the characters and by a lot of watchers. Some characters judging her in the show is understandable but the watchers?

The brutal antagonizing for not saying sorry to Callum (even tho they would also antagonize her if she said sorry as "sorry isn't enough" ahem)

Or ike watchers who describe Rayla as OOC in arc 2, which it's such an statement

like I guess getting kicked out of the place you called home without even asking for an explanation leading to a huge emotional scar, losing yourr parents without even knowing their status, getting obsessed with the same guy that took them away killing your partner to the point of abandoning him out of fear of losing the only loved one you have left because said former home made you believe you either complete the mission or you are a failure, spending alone two years hallucinating the guy you abandoned and chasing someone who doesn't even exist eventully leading you to notice leaving was a big mistake and you keep messing things up won't change as a person a sensitive and unstable teenager that was dumped by her parents at age nine and was forced to bury her feelings most of her life

The lack of brio fics at the strip club saddens me.. i want all the feels surrounding being in a strip club. I want beth to maybe feel a little self conscious, maybe even jealous and possessive seeing all of these hot, young, thin dancers around rio. Ok! Here’s my Question of the Day, and it’s about the “You’re not supposed to be here.” scene. The smugness radiating off Rio is like level 10. Dean is shocked. And Beth (I think) is praying he (Dean) doesn’t make seen, in the midst of Rio observing a very domestic exchange (of vehicles) related to Dean & Beth’s family plans.

What do you think Dean, Rio, and Beth are thinking as this exchange occurs and how do you think they each feel about this exchange after the fact?

This scene is so funny! I am convinced that by season 4 they decided to just go full list of tropes on us. Like, they heard all the complaints about a lack of romance-typical tropes and just gave them all to us. Brio + Dean in a smug, defensive, confused, jealous standoff is everything! Look at Rio’s face. I’m 💀😅

I personally don’t think Rio has anything major against Dean. Yeah, he shot him and beat him up, but that was one time (lol, nbd) and had more to do with Beth than Dean. To me, Rio is so far beyond the likes of Dean, has so little respect for people like Dean, and thinks so little about Dean as a legitimate sexual rival that I wouldn’t even say Rio’s feeling particularly smug about his involvement with Dean’s wife. Rio simply doesn’t care about Dean. At all. He doesn’t care how he treats Beth, either. I just don’t see Rio getting all protective and offended because Beth allowed herself the complacency of staying married to this underwhelming, room temperature man. If anything, I would say Rio feels disdain for Dean being the type of man who allows himself to be steamrolled by Beth and not giving her a challenge – the way Rio is giving her a challenge.

So that being said, in this situation I would say Rio is tickled pink about making Beth squirm. While he doesn’t give a crap about Dean, he is unreasonably irritated by Beth hiding her true self from everyone but him. It seems to bug him to no end how she lies to herself and others. So having Dean come in and and see her “naked” – that is, in her true depraved persona – no doubt makes Rio downright giddy. His whole performance is for Beth’s benefit, not Dean’s. He doesn’t need to emasculate Dean. He already doesn’t view Dean as a man. What he wants is to emasculate Dean to Beth. Much like when he dropped that line about their dead bedroom in the pool table scene, where he said outright he knows Beth isn’t sexually attracted to Dean, he wants to really dig it in for Beth that she’s in a sham of a marriage and is unfulfilled by every aspect of it.

Beth is almost near tears. Dean snuck a peek behind her mask. She tried to put it into place as quickly as she could – pitched up her voice, played up her Midwestern accent, used her suburban pleasantries… But Dean saw her. She had no idea how long he’d been standing there and now much of her “Boss Bitch” persona he got to see. That Beth, (the one who’s Elizabeth,) isn’t for Dean. So having Dean see her like that rattled her neatly compartmentalized life. You can see her draw the little boxes and deny deny deny, even to herself, that she wasn’t just in foreplay mode with her crime husband. “Please, just go.” She needed him to leave so she could put her mask back on properly. Rio’s right to be amused by watching her do this. Her scramble is fascinating.

Dean is such a uuuuuggghhhh. I don’t know why he’s still baffled that she keeps going back to Rio. What evidence to the contrary has she given him over the course of these events? Maybe I’m being overly critical of Dean because he isn’t the first person ever to be gaslit into trusting despite reason. But Beth has been really honest with him in many instances. Yeah, she also was extremely dishonest in many other instances, but any reasonable person could see she was in it deep with whatever shady life she got into and she kept going back despite saying she wouldn’t. This all speaks to how staunchly Dean refused to see her. He absolutely would not allow her a sense personal worth or identity beyond someone who serves him and his children. So in this scene Dean is betrayed and baffled. Because for whatever reason he believed all her lies and refused to see the anguish on her as she came home and told him, “We got him.” Who in their right mind sees their wife return home after betraying her long-time lover – a lover she’s admitted to REALLY liking having sex with, a lover she could never let go of no matter how much she claimed she wanted to – sees her tear-streaked face, hears her shaking voice, and thinks to himself, “Yep, she’s given him up. She’s all mine again.” In what universe is Dean living?

So basically: Rio’s amused, Beth is exposed, and Dean is a dope.
