I’m so immensely happy for Austin! I can’t put into words how much his performance as Elvis meant to me! I love Austin and he deserves this award so much!! Can’t wait for the Oscars! 😭🥰
Ke Huy Quan Wins Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture | 2023 Golden Globes
This win so well-deserved and his speech was such a beautiful way to start the night. The emotions poured out of him and it really exemplified, at least to me, one of the big themes of the night for many winners - being given a chance. He's just so humble and grateful to be there and to be RECOGNIZED. And it's not just in that award, though that is great. But in his life, he feels valued and talented and established and loved. And that's what made this speech so powerful.
i hope pedro knows or at least has some idea of how many people are so fucking proud of him. he's made incredible strides in his career and he deserves every second of the overdue recognition he is now receiving. there's no doubt that this has been his year, with huge shows on two of the biggest streaming platforms right now. i wholeheartedly believe he will get his roses and sweep those awards when the time is right.
Tyler James Williams poses with the award for Best Supporting Actor - Television Series for "Abbott Elementary" in the press room at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 10, 2023 in Beverly Hills, California.
the show was FERAL tonight, but in all the best ways. this to me was the definition of entertainment. it was a spectacle!
first off: the speeches
Props to Jerrod Carmichael for hosting and keeping it real. the energy he gave was so calm and nonchalant, which was the perfect setup for his truth bomb jokes that most of the time weren't even laughable but more "WHOA haha" worthy. It takes guts and he sure has them.
the winners were so genuine and FUNNY. from first time winners (of which there were a LOT) to the seasoned award show-goers, everyone showed their gratitude and personality. it got even messier at the end, most definitely because they were drinking, like Mike White, but they were such heartwarming and REAL speeches. Off the top of my head, I loved Ke Huy Quan's (a tearjerker and just an eloquent speech full of realness and happiness), Michelle Yeoh's (another tearjerker with a more career realness and badassery to them trying to play her off), Jeremy Allen White's (soo well deserved and he was nervous but it was great), Jennifer Coolidge's (again more career realness with her ICONIC humor and humility), Ryan Murphy's (inspiring, honoring all the LGBTQ people he loves and his coworkers) Eddie Murphy's (the montage before his honor was awe-inspiring, he started off humble and shy as usual, and then the ending was SO FUNNY and right on the nose for jerrod's humor tonight), Colin Farrell's (he was rushed but he got the MOST in there with humor and gratitude and it was a great time), Mike White's for White Lotus (soo funny because he was emotional from following Jennifer's speech and tipsy from drinking), and Evan Peters' (i just love him and he really deserved this).
also i loved how it got more unhinged as the night went on. presenters and winners shouting out rihanna and brad pitt numerous times! literally so funny.
the show did run long but it didn't feel painfully long since the speeches really were fun and they didn't pad the time with awkward skits or anything.
