Not really? That’s okay, here’s an in depth analysis of why Raine will be fine in the final.

Let's start by addressing the elephant in the room: what happened to Hunter when Phillip was possessing him.

Now, there are some key differences between Hunter's possession and Raine’s possession that automatically lead to Raine being in a better situation.

To start, Raine and Hunter are two completely different species, meaning that possession would likely affect them differently. And even if this wasn’t a point, Raine is presently a puppet and based on what we saw wasn’t actively goopifying.

Which ties into the next point: even if Raine were to turn back organic, it took several hours of possession (probably between 8-12) for Hunter to get to the point his organs were shutting down.

Additionally, unlike with Hunter, the protagonists are going to be on the lookout for Phillip, plus since it seems like he's targeting Eda (and if I were to wager a guess, the rest of the Clawthornes) and with her change in physical appearance making her look a lot like Evelynn, he's unlikely to be able to hide what’s happening for long... meaning a rescue effort will happen much sooner with a potentially much stronger group of fighters than the end of TTT.

Furthermore, Raine is older and significantly more powerful than Hunter is in terms of magic. As a coven head, the chances Raine at least has training to resist this type of thing if not actively having protections in place.

Finally (for this section at least), unlike Hunter, Raine has Eda. More specifically, Raine has a decades-long relationship to fall back on in terms of “fighting power.” Like, Hunter was able to pull through and regain some amount of control via the power of friendship and he’d only been in the Hexsquad for like... a year max and that’s being very generous.

Now that we’re got the in-universe reasons why Raine will be fine, let’s talk about the story reasons.

Narratively, in addition to being Eda’s love interest, they also serve as a metaphor for Eda’s lost magic... or more specifically, the safety that having her magic afforded her.

What I mean by this is that prior to the end of Season 1, Eda was protected from Belos because she was considerably more powerful than most other witches... based on what we’ve seen it’s entirely possible that her claim about being the most powerful witch on the isles was true...

But during Season 2, whenever Eda’s been is genuine danger due to Belos/The Emperor's Coven, Raine was the one to step in and make sure that her and her kids were safe. (Specifically, during Eda’s Requiem, O Titan Where Art Thou, and King’s Tide).

There are one of two ways to takes things narratively during the final based on this. Either the trend continues and Raine once again puts themself between Eda and Belos to keep her safe, or the trend is turned on it’s head and this time it’s up to Eda to save Raine from Belos.

More than likely though it’ll be a joint effort between the two of them. This would be in order to narratively place them back on even footing, showing they can protect each other and in turn make each other stronger.

Furthermore, Raine hasn’t really had any genuine death signs. Unlike the fake-out with Eda at the end of Season 2, nothing that’s happened to Raine has indicated they’re going to die. Yeah, they aren’t in a great place right now, but their character hasn’t been given any closure.

Additionally, there’s not enough time left in the show for their death to have an impact. And The Owl House has handled discussions about death and grief way too well up til now to just kill Raine off when there wouldn’t even be time for the characters to grieve or react properly.

Finally, let’s talk meta reasons Raine will be fine.

We’ll start with the fact that Raeda is Dana’s OTP for The Owl House and the likelihood of her killing one of them off is slim to none. And I can tell you as a writer, you absolutely put your favorite characters/relationships through the wringer because it makes the end of story where they’re okay that much sweeter.

More importantly, Raine is Disney’s first even non-binary character. Having Raine die randomly in the final would make for some genuinely terrible publicity for a company that’s been in hit water recently for their handling of other LGBTQ+ related things, so killing off Raine would be a horrible move.

Plus this is a Disney show and we’ve already had one beloved character die and explored the themes of death and grief fairly extensively (at least, again, for a Disney show...)

All this is to say that Raine will be fine and you can breathe while we wait for the final.

most of my art goals for this year are ranma centric BUT i do have 2 small oc projects i’ve already started working on…….. they’ll both get their own dedicated sideblogs bc theyre comic format

#my big comic atomic uni is still on hiatus and realistically will stay that way until i graduate college #but these two are much smaller scale. one is longer but its mostly writing w just a couple small illustrations per chapter #and the second is full comic format but its only 10 pages #atomic uni on the other hand is going to take Years to finish and will be full comic format #and i just dont have the time to dedicate to that rn

Crab blog might go on hiatus. I'm a little on the fence about it but there's some stuff going on that I don't need to explain so I won't. It's why I've been sporadic posting, and if I don't post tomorrow I'm probably going to be on a break for an indefinite amount of time. hopefully it won't be too long but we'll have to see. will stock up on some crab posts for my return if I do!

y'see, i wrote a zelda fanfiction way back in the day that i would later decide to pull the plug on and adapt into an original work to get it away from its roots

link would turn into hale who still slightly resembles the vibe of link but has dominion over time and matter and eventually goes on to lose his hand in a skirmish with a friend

and now here we are, a decade later, and link has lost his arm and gained dominion over time and matter

somehow, despite all my efforts to move away from zelda, zelda has decided to get the leg up on time gate and beat it to the punch

this somehow feels like petty revenge for that one spite comic i made back in 2017

my projects (in no particular order):

Where Edges Meet Soft Things, a poetry collection i've been selling my soul to for the last four years. it’s about joy and pain and fathers and the past. it's everything to me.

Insect Poison, a novel i have been fighting with for 5 years now. it was originally about a serial killer and a group of teenagers he kidnaps, but now it’s follows a set of twins, Robert and Ramona, and the turn the family takes after Ramona drowns in a lake in the middle of the night. did her brother do it? was it an accident? did she lowkey deserve it? these are questions i cannot answer because i do not know. what i can tell you is that i'll finish this book even if it kills me, and there will definitely be a ghost in it.

i run a little side project i call The Photo Archive, which is essentially me scanning and posting vintage photographs from old magazines and books (mainly national geographic but there's many others as well) to make sure they don't get lost to time and that the photographers are credited. i run a separate tumblr for it (@thephotoarchive) but the brunt of the project takes place on pinterest, where i'm able to sort the photos into boards based on source material and other people can share them to their own boards. if you ever see my poetry overlaid on some cool vintage pictures, that's where they came from! it's really just a passion project, but if you're a collage artist or photography enthusiast i'm sure scrolling through the pinterest for a couple minutes will be fun!

my hobbies outside writing include reading, art, photography, crochet, guitar, singing + music production, and applying for jobs i’m not qualified for.

i very rarely watch movies or TV shows, but my favorite show is The Haunting of Hill House (and all the Mike Flanagan series are in my top 5 shows, Midnight Mass is a close second)

i have literally never had caffeine, aside from a few sips of a few sodas

as you have probably figured out, i really like ghosts. metaphorical ghosts, fictional ghosts, evidence and stories of possible real-life ghosts and obviously just ghost stories in general. i just think they’re neat

well. i think that’s about it. i’m still trying to figure out how to post here again (specifically how i want to format my poetry), but you can see a lot more content from me on instagram! i post poems when i can and post on my stories way more than anyone would want to see.

#uhmm...i don't know how to explain this... #so my family has been having a lot of trouble lately #mostly our relationship with our step father #there's been ups and downs..well..more on the downer side. the only main reason my mother married him was because of..well.. #money..as trash as that sounds. i can't deny the fact that I've been able to continue my studies due to his financial support. #i don't want to justify anything that i've probably done wrong to him but emotionally right now—i'm simply scarred to the point where— #I don't think I could heal without professional help. I've been struggling a lot with it ever since of what he did #i felt disgusted. dirty. I felt lost. I didn't want to forgive him. maybe this is the punishment i have to endure because I didn't have it— #—in me to forgive him. I know the principles of my religion and it is stated that one must always find forgiveness towards others. #no matter how big their mistake is. but you see—I'm not God.
