gog i still can't get over minish cap vaati's Everything. He is So Fucking Stupid (affectionate)
Like. This guy's establishing character moment is, in order:
he's introduced as having won an entire tournament to get to touch a magic chest and get a cool sword, which was the prize for said tournament
turns around and does a goddamn evil soliloquy TEN FEET AWAY FROM THE GUARDS who were about to hand him his macguffin on a platter
(like this man fucks up his own horribly planned daylight heist because he cannot keep a lid on the dramatics for FIVE FUCKING MINUTES, IN PUBLIC)
(THE BAR WAS ON THE FLOOR VAATI, FUCKING GANONDORF PLAYS THE PIPE ORGAN FOR HIS OWN BOSS INTRO AND HE STILL KNOWS BETTER THAN THIS SHIT)
proceeds to fight the guards (it is, admittedly, a curbstomp for him, but it still clearly wasn't his plan, because otherwise why bother with the tournament)
gloats evilly
opens chest, unleashing a whole bunch of monsters
exposits out loud about Zelda's powers like a nerd while she is actively charging up her magic powers to kick his ass
RECOGNIZES and IDENTIFIES said magic as the special power carried by the female royal line
completely fails to recognize it as the light force he is currently trying to get his hands on (he spends like 99% of the game not figuring this out.)
petrifies her
(i have no idea if link could have deflected this spell if he had managed to get the right angle with his shield but i like to think somewhere there is a very short and very funny alternate timeline where it happens)
(more importantly: no part of vaati's original presumed plan would have involved doing this. he 100% created this situation for himself by being an dramatic idiot and picking a fight for no good reason.)
looks in the chest
there's no light force
considering his stated goals he might be as confused as you are about the monsters tbh
uhhh
evil laugh
teleports the fuck out
He then proceeds to spend the rest of the game trying to figure out where the light force is and ends up having to wait for Ezlo and Link to figure it out first because he was, as far as I can tell, GENUINELY stuck on this part. He fucking kidnaps and impersonates the King, not for access to Zelda, but to… send guards to go look for the Light Force, presumably because he was either running out of ideas or genuinely thought that would work.
None of the guards even had any idea what he was talking about. He's not even good at impersonating the King. He's already sent like twenty people to the dungeon by the time you get there and it hasn't even been a week. Somehow the game spins this as a cunning plan and clever manipulation or something.
(Meanwhile the guards are just. Poking around in random bushes and shit hoping to find the light force. One of them asks you what you think it might look like.)
Zelda is literally right next to the throne and Vaati does not figure it out until you find an actual honest-to-goodness LORE TABLET spelling out that the Light Force is Stored in the Zelda, at which point he's like "ahahaha you've done my work for me this was definitely my plan all along" and takes over the castle and throws a bunch of monsters at you to stall for time while he figures out how to extract the force from her. Somehow he still doesn't think to actually lock the fucking door.

Gogmazios from Monster Hunter. One of my favorite 'standard' dragons in the franchise - these games are constantly finding subtle new ways to shake up the basic silhouette of the classic Western dragon, a very well worn shape that doesn't seem like it would have a lot of room for innovation.
The fun part here is how Gog uses its huge wings as its primary walking limbs, keeping its actual front legs off the ground. So simple and yet I can't think of any other dragon outside this franchise that does it - gives it this great, looming, lurching quality; perpetually ready and raptorial. Also subtly anthropomorphic; feels uncanny and implies a certain sinister, hand-tenting evil.
Another very complex model; absolutely covered in spikes and bits. About a month of work and I still wasn't entire happy with it; the wing ridges are a bit of a hack job in post with badly layered transparency textures.

The Ancient Cookies and the MH monsters they would be…
or at least the monsters that remind me of them because by Gog there are so many it’s hard to choose… except Hollyberry that was the easiest-
So…
Hollyberry- Nergigante
Tumblr media
Mainly because in lore Nergigante is an elder that specializes in hunting other monsters of its rank (Just like Hollyberry is known to fight dragons sometimes) and also because it manages to do so without possessing any flashy abilities or elements apart from tons and tons of spikes and regeneration.
we do not talk about how it reproduces
Golden Cheese- Nef Garmat, Kulve Taroth or Ahtal Ka
Tumblr media
Nef Garmat: Elder dragon status and also ‘cause of its wings and egyptian inspiration.
Kulve Taroth: also Elder status and… GOLD and technically ruling a place made of such thing
Ahtal Ka: Same as Nef with egyptian inspiration, but most importantly because of its sheer craftiness and power in spite of what initial appearances imply.
Basically: put this things in a blender and you get this queen
Dark Cacao- Dalamadur, Velkhana or Amatsu
Tumblr media
Honestly it’s mostly Dalamadur because sheer power, status, it’s music theme, how it’s design and name meaning refers to it as an armored tower/ serpent, how itand it’s nake- I mean, Shah version are seen/ thought as gods that shaped and destroy the world just like Dark Cacao is seen as the one who created the cycle of day and night after defeating those two dragons in his tale…
While Velkhana has the ice theming and fight finesse and Amatsu cause of its easter dragon inspiration… and once again it’s theme music
(also Gogmazios was considered an option because of its going to fortresses to consume the gunpowder and how he probably has some in his kingdom… but he needs a break so Gog isn’t here)
And Finally…
White Lily/ Pure Vanilla-
ok let’s be real i have no idea about these two so that’s why they are together
Doesn’t mean there ARENT any monsters that remind me of them though like…
Xenojiiva/Safijiiva
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Versa/ Makili Pietru
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the BIGGEST stretch of them all…
Tumblr media
Shagaru Magala
like, in my head all of this makes sense i can’t just figure out how to elaborate on most of them (Except with the Pietru dragons and how like Lily they start as a force of good but get corrupted and such)
something something The thing that looks like a flawless and heavenly being is far worse than you imagined them to be something something like that…

Your passion has made me want to play the original Fallout(s). Is there anything I aught to know going in?
Alright, hold on
So.
Without spoiling anything, you got the first two games. They are dirt cheap on GOG and Steam, I recommend getting them on GOG. Fallout 1 is a certified classic, and Fallout 2 is an even more certified classic - but the second done deviates to include more black comedy and IRL references of the times (late 1990's) - but the UI is improved, mechanics more polished, and it has much more content.
I recommend playing both, or if you are strapped for time, Fallout 2 (a lot of people will disagree with me on this, so I will be fair to let you know that this can be a contentious statement), and I recommend playing them both without mods for that genuine experience. And then, once you have played 1 and 2, I recommend checking out NoMutantsAllowed and their mod section, and install Killap's Restoration Patch for Fallout 2. It adds a lot of cut content, and quality of life improvements.
They are turn-based RPG's, not all character builds are made equal, and it is from a time when your character dies, it just means you restart and try again.
Also.
*Speech is a phenomenal skill, but you must be prepared to fight.*
And the single most deadly kind of encounter you can find are not mutants, not monsters, not robots. It is just regular people with really, really, high end weapons. Fear the Mercenaries, for they will bumrush you with hand-held chainsaws bisecting you from nose to sphincter and melt your face with plasma pistols at the same time, and then high-five each other afterwards.

Hand-painted Japanese-inspired RPG Lost Hellden announced for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Switch, and PC
From Gematsu
Tumblr media
Astria Ascending and Super Neptunia RPG developer Artisan Studios has announced Lost Hellden, a hand-painted Japanese-inspired RPG featuring music and audio direction by Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy XII, Tactics Ogre, etc.) and illustrations by Takeshi Oga (Gravity Rush, Siren, etc.). It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG in 2025.
Here is an overview of the game, via Artisan Studios:
About
Lost Hellden is a unique hand-painted JRPG from Artisan Studios, enhanced by dynamic lighting and weather effects. Take control of eight unique highly customizable characters through an epic mature story where the 7 Deadly Sins guide your fate. Witness a new Deep 2D technology allowing you to play in 3D in hand painted artworks with dynamic lighting and weather. On a planet called Era, people are bound to one of the Seven Deadly Sins before their first birthday via a religious ceremony called the Nexus Ritual. All their life, the inhabitants of Era have to fight against their urges. Should they fail and succumb, they transform into mindless and aggressive beasts. The Unio religion representatives – the Arkhons – ensure that everyone follows the rules and put down any monsters that appear in the cities. One day, a woman gives birth to twins, something that never happened before. The Prime Arkhon, supreme leader of Era, conducts the Nexus Ritual himself. However, something goes wrong, and one baby is bound to all seven sins, while the other receives none. The twins are taken to the capital, Avilah, where they are brought up as Arkhon apprentices. They are never allowed to leave the walls of the sanctuary… But one day, Leht, the twin bound to the seven sins, manages to leave the city. His brother Cyphel is sent on a mission to find and bring him back. He is accompanied by two seasoned Arkhons, Gram and Enki. The journey of Cyphel and Leht is one of self-discovery, one that will allow them to grow and become the people they were destined to be.
Characters
Cyphel Fyrbrand – Since Cyphel was not bound to any Sin during the Nexus Ritual, his childhood was significantly easier than his brother’s. He grew up to be a kindhearted, yet naive young man. Cyphel is usually obedient but he willingly follows Leht when he is up to some mischief.
Gram Stoneheim – This strong woman taught the art of fighting to the twins. She can be harsh sometimes, especially with Leht, because she sees great potential in him. She is an Arkhon and works closely with Enki.
Enki Taillevent – Enki is an Arkhon and a teacher to the twins. He is less strict than Gram, sometimes he can even be seen as lax. His kind demeanor and his sense of humor make him a great person to be around.
More to be announced.

i cannot understate how absolutely insanely good The Tapestry (mspfa) is. it's Xenofiction with a capital X. the last interlude especially goes nuts in that front.
im genuinely shocked by how comparatively unknown it is because it's so gog-damn good.
and it was made ONE SINGLE PERSON. Monckat is a genius swamp-monster and i can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

{INTRODUCTION} => Oh gog there's two...
Tumblr media
-> From the depths of alternian oceans emerge two highbloods, great, that surely means trouble, right? Your names are TINREA TANAKE and YOVSKA WERTAE. A pair moirails in an arranged {lavender}marriage. Up until now you two stayed in your underwater castle. Something pushed you two to go out to the surface and figure out what's it all about! Well it was Tinrea's idea and Yovska got dragged into this but that doesn't matter.
-> YOVSKA is a tall and very well built guy, could be said he's on the HEAVIER side. He is NOT A TROLL PERSON and prefers his lonely time to not be interrupted. He lets his guard down only around a select group of trolls that he trusts. Yovska enjoys LONG WALKS BY THE EDGE OF UNDERWATER CANYONS, READING and recently started getting interested in FASHION. He isn't too open about the last part though.
-> TINREA is the life of the party, unlike her husband. She's very ENERGETIC and all over the place. She gets confused by how her FRIENDLY NATURE tends to scare off lowbloods she interacts with. She is fascinated by LOWBLOOD CULTURE and wants to learn as much as she can. Tinrea adores HUNTING CANYON DWELLING MONSTERS and MEETING STRANGE TROLLS that tend to call themselves mutants.
{Tinrea and Yovska are now open for asks}

a couple weeks ago, me and a couple friends went to this one japanese import store and it was selling some of the newer monster hunter figure builder blind boxes, and because one of those friends got me interested in blind boxes, i got one and pulled a sick looking astalos figure.
so i did a bit of digging on past figure builder sets out of curiosity and learned there’s a gogmazios one!!!
Tumblr media
tokyo otaku mode showed it along side some other figures (shown above) and decided to do some more digging because goddamn i wanted gogmazios my beloved. since it’s from a long discontinued series (i’m assuming from around 2015-2016) i had to do a little more digging.
eventually i found someone selling it on ebay and ordered it, and this morning it came!!
Tumblr media
(please ignore all the dust i had to find a place to put them for the pic that wasn’t full of the other stuff i own hhh)
there isn’t a lot of buildable figures for endgame g-rank elder dragons from monhun’s earlier years as far as i know (that’s definitely changed since we’ve got alatreon and gaismagorm in a couple). goggy’s the only one i found and this might be the only piece of official merch featuring gog but i may be wrong. regardless it’s really cool. of course it’s a small figurine from a blind box modeled after a heavily detailed creature so it isn’t as high quality as, say, the $100+ individual figurines of monsters, especially with all the removable bits, but it’s still really neat.
the lighting in the pic doesn’t do it any favors but the color of gog’s chest is pretty vibrant as well as the features. on their back are a few more bits of its body that normally aren’t that visible even when fighting it in-game, being these bumps with darker blue insides. idk how to describe them exactly. a cool design detail i’ve always loved about gog is how there’s weapons lodged in their back along with the dragonator often times warped due to the tar, but they’re also a bit more visible on the figure. the dragonator’s tip is a little droopy but i think that’s because of the aforementioned tar. again it’s a really cool figure. (idk if i just didn’t pose them correctly but the base seems a little small for them likely because it’s the same mold used for other bases. maybe they came with two initially but whoever was reselling only sent one so idk.)
semi unrelated but the other older figures are really cool as well and i may go hunting for a couple of them especially the shagaru one not just because i fucking love the magalas but because it’s much more vibrant than the one in volume 24 of the figure builders. both are based on different renders but his color palette in sunbreak is really washed out for some reason and me no likey.

Diablo (1997)
Tumblr media
The first Diablo game from 1997 feels like the computer role-playing genre boiled down to its bare essentials. A minimalist game made in what is often an (over-)complicated genre. There are only three character classes, a melee-focused warrior, a bow-and-arrow focused Rogue, and a magic-focused sorceror. There are only four main stats to upgrade, strength, magic, dexterity and vitality. There is a single town area, Tristram with the usual RPG shops, and it exists on top of the 16-level mega-dungeon where you will spend the bulk of the game. There is story and lore, but far less of it than the often wordy RPG genre.
It’s about a straight-forward dungeon crawler game as it gets. It’s a game about fighting the monsters, getting XP, items and money from them, upgrading your character and equipment until you are strong enough to take on Diablo himself, the final boss, hiding out at the end of the dungeon. This kind of laser-focused simplicity and mininalism is beautiful in itself in my opinion. This game knows what is about, and that is the combat. It’s designed so you can just ”get in and start smashing things. ” to quote lead designer David Breivik.
Tumblr media
And the action is what defined the game’s legacy. Diablo is far from the first action-RPG, but it’s a major and influential title in that genre. Its success established the genre in western computer gaming. Diablo’s isometric third-person perspective with real-time point-and-click controls became widely imitated, not just by its sequels that continue to this day, but by a whole genre of “Diablo-clones.” including many beloved games like Nox and Dungeon Siege.
And the action in the original Diablo remains addicting to this day, offering a visceral enjoyment but also requires you to think and act strategically. It’s a difficult game, rushing in and aggro-ing too many enemies at once will kill you quickly, so you have to advance cautiously and think about what you are doing.
It gets frustrating at times. And some things haven’t aged well, like the slow movement speed. Yet Diablo is not as punishingly difficult as some of its influences like Rogue. It remains reasonably accessible. You can save and reload at any time. I’m notoriously bad at managing stats in rpgs, I tend to end up with an underpowered character in the end, but even I was able to figure out Diablo’ssimple four-stat system. And what saved me in the end is the ability to restart the game with the same character, keeping your stats and items. It was after doing that twice that I was finally able to defeat the final boss.
And replaying the game isn’t as much of a grind as you might think. The dungeon’s levels, including sidequests, item drops, and what enemies are on which floor are randomly generated (its most obvious inspiration from Rogue). Each playthrough is different, lending variety and replayablity to such a simple game. And there is multiplayer too, which I haven’t even explored yet.
It helps that the game sustains such a strong atmosphere throughout. It may look a bit grainy by modern standards, but the art direction, music and sound design are so excellent. It creates in combination with the tense gameplay this convincing gothic horror/dark medieval fantasy mood that is utterly compelling.
And it’s an experience well worth seeking out today. Blizzard might have ruined franchise’s reputation with later games with always-online requirements and predatory monetization, but the original Diablo is a game that is free from such things. It’s an achievement that stands the test of time. You can get it on GOG, and I highly recommend using the devilutionx port.

dean and cas are really bringing the husband energy in good intentions. they spend pretty much the WHOLE episode being married! whether it's cute married, bitchy married, or protective married, they are BRINGING the husband energy.
cas has very valid concerns and no one is taking them seriously. sam and dean you FOOLS
also, i have been ROBBED of not getting to see misha in a full fledged villain arc. ONE DAY!
this conversation between dean and cas about why cas was brought back... it's so lovely because on the one hand dean is actually seeing that cas emotionally needs someone to support him which is HUGE growth for him. but on the other hand, it really does go to fulfilling this idea that cas is only wanted when he is useful. Dean tells cas that jack brought him back "because we needed you" which of course dean means as "i was miserable without you; i literally wanted to die without you and we were not functioning without you" but cas hears as "because we needed you for your powers/abilities/what you can do" the disconnect between what each of them means and what the other one is hearing is VAST and neither of them is willing to admit what they ACTUALLY want or need to hear. (also, cas just looks like a liddol guy here and i'm fond when he looks like that)
"i don't get words wrong" and then dean rolling his eyes. PEAK husband behavior. cas is SUCH a bitch. he even throws in an "i told you" for PEAK BITCH behavior
"they are equally pretty" yes they are. rip gog and magog, who were connoisseurs of manly beauty cas' attempts to get dean to take the monsters seriously. dean refusing to take the monsters seriously. their bickering. HUSBANDS HUSBANDS HUSBANDS.
i always appreciate a chance to see jim beaver on screen. even if au!bobby is a pale imitation of our bobby.
cas rushing to dean's side and then that GLARE at donnatello... NO ONE hurts his husband! i also love these moments when cas shows that, for all the humanity he's absorbed, he's STILL an angel. he's ruthless, in the purest sense of the word: he sees the problem and he sees the solution, and he sees the easiest way to get there. he doesn't let himself worry about human concerns, like killing people, because that gets in the way of the mission. it's a different morality than dean and sam have and it's one that they can't support, even if cas is technically right. and i do love when cas goes full ruthless. i love when the angel just lets himself BE an angel. when he takes his coat off? when he says that he's not going to let anyone hurt the people that he loves? cas is BRUTAL and i love him so much.
Cas' point here that he's a soldier first and foremost is a good one. again, he sees the world in a way that dean either can't or won't. and he's probably wrong morally but he's also RIGHT--at this point, they're all running out of time and hard decisions have to be made i also know that cas would rather take that upon himself than have dean make that decision.
