An insight into the characters based on their approach to the “Allie problem”
If good writing means that every scene has the potential to say something about a character at their core, then the girls' attitude towards the "Allie problem" is an interesting example.
Taissa
The one who comes up with the very plan. This establishes her as ambitious and extremely rational, but it’s the type of rationality that without grounded moral principles could degenerate into violence and cruelty at any time. It’s what we see with adult Misty and Walter, who are both so practical-minded that resorting to murder is nothing more than a smart option to choose to them.
Like Jackie says, Taissa has so much fight in her. The way she handles the Allie situation shows that if she has a goal, she’ll do whatever she finds necessary to obtain it.
How does that translate into their time in the wilderness?
Taissa’s the first to make the call that they should leave the plane and find water. She’s the one who sleeps in the attic when everyone else wouldn’t, she’s the only one who tries to tell Jackie she shouldn’t leave. And in season two, she’s the one who says, “We need to find a way to stay alive, and it can’t be her [: Lottie]”.
Then we see them drawing cards. We’re not shown how they get to that very decision exactly, but it’s important that we know that the two things are tied. The hunt that follows, their first conscious hunt (let’s not forget about Travis), wasn’t supposed to happen—it’s rather the consequence of the designed sacrifice refusing to take on the role.
Though there’s an obvious religious aspect to it, drawing cards isn’t just letting fate/the wilderness decide in their place so that they don’t blame themselves. It’s also the girls’ attempt to give the ritual some semblance of logic and structure—on a normal day, they would draw cards to decide who gets which task. They’re using the same mechanism, except that they’re now deciding who should die and get eaten. And it starts with Taissa’s very rational and straightforward remark about needing to survive.
Natalie
She openly and passionately goes against Taissa’s plan. Despite being presented as the outsider who doesn’t really engage with the team and disregards rules by smoking and doing drugs, she’s the one who fights to play fairly. She most likely doesn’t care about Allie personally, but she’s a teammate, and they should treat her as such.
While Tai’s ultimate goal is winning at Nationals, Natalie doesn’t want to win more than she wants to be a team (T: What’s your plan, then? / N: I dunno, play like a fucking team and win? It’s worked so far.).
It’s quite ironic—yet not that surprising—how, despite being opposites, Natalie and Jackie share a similar mindset about this.
The scene establishes Natalie as a sympathetic character with grounded and noble moral principles, no matter the adversities. In the wilderness, she’s the first and possibly the only one who acknowledges Travis’ grief and sees through his unsufferable attitude and understands that, as much as questionable his methods are, he’s trying to make sure Javi gets over their father’s death and wants to live on.
It's also meaningful that Natalie’s not there when Jackie and Shauna fight and Jackie ends up leaving the cabin. The night earlier, Natalie was the one who let her out when Lottie and the others locked her in and went to hunt Travis down. Natalie basically saves the girl who just had sex with Travis being perfectly aware that it would hurt her, and she doesn’t even know. Viewers do know, though, and we’re instinctively led to think of her as even more noble and deserving of empathy.
Jackie’s death certainly comes from an irrational choice, but the deepest reason is the others’ lack of sympathy towards her at the end of the season. It could be delusional, but I can’t see Natalie turning a blind eye on the whole thing, had she been there.
Jackie was their captain when they had a normal life. Natalie becomes their leader thanks to the constant effort she’s put into the group ever since they landed there—and possibly, as the matter with Allie shows, even before that.
Lottie
Lottie’s phrasing for her refusal is telling. She says, “It doesn’t feel right.” It’s not that she thinks it is, or that it seems like it is. She feels like they’re not meant to go through with it. A simple yet fitting choice of words foreshadows Lottie’s spiritual nature and her connection to the wilderness as well as her role of prophet/messiah.
It’s also important that she’s not shown as particularly proactive. She does express her opinion, but she’s not as passionate as Natalie about it, who instead actively tries to convince them what a terrible idea it is and interferes with Taissa’s plan on the field. This shows how Lottie never cared be a leader, but rather follows where her feelings lead her.
Van
We’re not really shown Van’s reaction until they’re in the locker room after the scrimmage. We just learn that she’s impressionable, as she almost throws up at Nat’s mention of Allie’s bone being visible, and that she’s so devoted to Tai that she won’t let Shauna talk shit about her at the party.
Laura Lee
Of course, nobody would even dream of telling Laura Lee about an act of such misconduct. She would never go along with Taissa’s plan, she wouldn’t even fathom doing something like this. She’s more clueless than Jackie, because Jackie at least did notice something was off on the field. Even at the party, Laura Lee is the only one who still has no idea there were such tensions.
Her blissful ignorance keeps her kind and pure, apart from the ruthless tendencies of the team. It doesn’t change once they’re in the wilderness—Laura Lee dies trying to help her friends, and she fortunately never gets to witness their worst moments.
Shauna
Unsurprisingly, Shauna’s a tough one. Her attitude towards the Allie situation is as ambivalent as it will be for the rest of the story towards everything else.
Shauna keeps her thoughts for herself until Nat and Lottie leave and it’s just her and Tai, and even then, the first thing she says is, “Jackie’s not gonna like it.” The moment she’s asked to make a personal decision, she talks about what Jackie would think, and it’s not because she herself doesn’t know what to think, it’s just what she chooses to say outright. If anything, Shauna isn’t against Taissa’s plan entirely, and bringing up Jackie rather sounds like an excuse so that she doesn’t dwell on her own dark thoughts.
When Taissa says, “Then we probably shouldn’t tell her,” we expect that to upset Shauna—she wouldn’t keep things from Jackie, right? They’re best friends. While it does upset her, it still doesn’t stop her. We understand why later in the episode, when we discover that she’s no stranger to keeping secrets from Jackie, between her affair with Jeff and the admission letter to Brown (it also recontextualizes their first scene together in Shauna’s car, where Jackie addressed literally both).
On the field, when Taissa plays aggressive and forces Allie to play under pressure, Shauna tells her, “It’s not helping,” and once Allie’s on the ground, she’s one of the girls who runs to her first and tries to comfort her. Even though she didn’t openly disagree with Taissa’s plan, she didn’t want or expect things to escalate the way they did. She’ll make the same mistake when Jackie leaves the cabin, Taissa tells her to go talk to her, and Shauna just goes to sleep, underestimating the consequences of it.
Her ambivalence—if not hypocrisy—is shown later that night at the party, when she tries to pick a fight with Taissa while drunk. I think some part of her felt guilty to an extent, so she tries to fight with Tai out of remorse and because she wants to make her look like the only culprit, since she hates that she was so close to being complicit in it. Who calls her out when she defends Nat from Taissa’s slut-shaming at the party? Natalie herself slams in Shauna’s face that she is complicit.
If Shauna had told Jackie, she would’ve put a stop to it for sure. In the 2019 script for the pilot, Jackie says, “You should have told me about Taissa and Allie.” Shauna’s choice to keep the secret directly anticipates their falling out towards the end of the season. Shauna’s continuous lying drives Jackie mad until she explodes and they have that fatal fight.
Shauna’s the one who tries to act as a person who has it together but really doesn’t. She has the potential to be a good person, friend and mother, but she ends up flunking everything and she barely understands why.
Finally, she tells Tai that she’s “a fucking sociopath”, which, considering everything that happens later in the series, is sort of rich.
Jackie
Like Laura Lee, Jackie has no clue the whole “freeze Allie out” strategy is even happening. Shauna didn’t tell her, she was left out, and she doesn’t find out until Allie’s already hurt and there’s nothing she can do about it.
She watches the others as they rush to help and comfort her and handle the situation, but she doesn’t partake in it because she’s too shocked to move. After the scrimmage, she tries very hard to do as Coach Martinez told her—as captain, she’s meant to glue them together (“When it gets tough out there, these girls are going to be looking for someone to guide them. Can you handle that?”). It’s more than that, though—the way Coach put it, if Jackie can’t do that, then she isn’t really anything special. She’s not as fast as Shauna and her footwork isn’t as good as Lottie’s, and there’s something else that Taissa’s better at, too, though Jackie stops Coach before he can tell her that bit. But nobody seems to care about what she’s saying, and Natalie storms off.
Jackie’s inability to handle the Allie situation and lift the others’ spirits foreshadows her incompetence as well as her progressive loss of influence in the wilderness—in Lottie’s words, “You don’t matter anymore.”
Allie’s accident marks the beginning of Jackie’s downfall even before the plane crashes.

The depersonalisation/dehumanisation of mystreet Garroth. A character analysis.
I am not sure if that’s the right term, depersonalisation is about lack of own identity, dehumanisation is stripping someone away from their positive human traits. But I don’t mean either of that, I mean just treating someone as not human?  Garroth is often either extremely over idealised in pdh or seen as a moron in mystreet.
This is pretty long so I'm putting a read more here.
First off his father over glorified him, him being the golden child and all. Being the golden child actually sucks. You have all the pressures, and the feeling of being a fraud as he was praised for stuff he didn’t do. We see Garte canonically praising him for stuff he hasn’t done. And this causes feelings of being a fraud and a fear of being exposed.
Then we have all his fangirls in highschool, obsessing over him and over glorifying him yet again. He isn’t recognised for him as a whole with his flaws, he isn’t recognised as just a human.
I noticed a pattern; very often, it's as if the better people know Garroth, the less they like him. The more he is just an idiot. This probably increases the feelings of being a fraud.
He is the comedic relief now, to the point some fans don’t recognise him of having any serious sad feelings at all because he is the comedic relief. Now everyone just sees Garroth as an idiot, too dumb to be seen as a person.
And you have the fact he was experimented on, a very dehumanising experience probably. They also refer to them in code names during it I think[A1, A3, A3, A4 and A5]  making it more dehumanising, in a scene in starlight you see a photo of Garroth as a toddler with A1 under it, katelyn being A2 and Travis A3. This hints he was the first to get a forever potion expiremented on him. This would also mirror season 4 and 6. As then the order would be Garroth, Katelyn, and Travis. Just how in season 4 the possession order is Zane, Lucinda, and Aphmau. Those people being the ones to set them free out of their possession in season 6 and that being the order in which they get depossessed in season 6. that's irrelevant really but I just wanted to mention it because it makes Garte look even worse.
Not to mention his possession being one of the most depersonalising and dehumanising ones of all. As unlike all the others, he doesn’t say anything except a few words during it and doesn’t show off much if any emotion at all. The screen also goes over to Garroth when Michael says “And your little toys are mine” basically referring to Garroth as a toy. Garroth during the possession is also almost like a robot, or a puppet, he attacks Nana being in the way but doesn’t continue because he directly switches targets when ordered to. Seeing yourself act like that and someone in your friend’s body boss you around like that is sure to mess you up you know. And then you have him becoming a werewolf, making him “less human” too.
Despite being basic he isn't really like his peers in a way. Oh also his basicness in itself is also kinda depersonalising, ‘Golden children’ often end up having to perform to please their parent. Due to this act to keep their status they often lack individuality and creativity. Perfectly in line with Garroth’s basicness and lack of an interesting taste and so forth. A lack of an personal identity. this is soo interesting with it being implied Elizabeth made the Ro'meave's forget about Garte in the mystreet season 6 finale. That's an identity crisis waiting to happened.
He also turns his own feelings into jokes in a way.
Like his fear of Ivy. She blackmails him to be with her in pdh season 2 aswell as constantly making him uncomfortable and just making it all about her getting his name wrong. As if he doesn't recognise his own feelings so he searches for a superficial reason to explain the feelings he is feeling. And how he after that he kinda forces himself to get over it without a real apology for it from Ivy. I only remember her apologising to Aphmau and explaining her lisp to Garroth. So since everyone is okay with Ivy and it's all about the lisp it's good now. But during their relationship Ivy consistently crossed boundaries and she blackmailed him. He was visually afraid of her in pdh for reasons outside of the lisp.
And we have in the good cop bad cop sidestory thing where in a conversation it was revealed his bad cop joke was actually backed up by him actually distrusting Gene. But after a conversation with Laurance he gets Gene a house a few episodes later.
He doesn't care about his own feelings,in a way. Like how Garte doesn’t care about Garroth's reluctance to inheret the company and still makes him do so.

Sneak Peek To ‘A Huckleberry Is Nothing Without His Hummingbird’
A follow up to ‘It’s Ridiculous, But I’ll Always Love You’ A Lloyd Hansen Love Story

Tumblr media
I’m back! Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes! So much writing has been going on since I got back, and I can’t wait to start posting again! Thank you, as always, to @fuckingbye for the amazing moodboard and just being amazing in general! I love you! I hope you all enjoy this snippet, and I hope to have the full story up soon!!

Lloyd’s P.O.V
“Trav, you and I need to have a talk,” I sigh as I take seat his computer desk.
He’s nine years old, why the hell does he have such an intense computer setup?
“Aren’t you supposed to knock before you come in? Mom knocks,” he mutters, not even bothering to look up from his book.
“She’s the nicer one.”
“Didn’t she punch my gym teacher in the face just for making a remark about my attitude when it comes to leading team sports?”
“I said she’s nicer one, not the more sane one, and put the damn book down. I’m talking to you.”
“What?”
“Watch your fucking mouth. What’s going on at school, and why didn’t you tell me about it?”
“In order for me to tell you about anything, you’d have to be here for that,” he snaps.
Ah yes, that’s why he has an insane computer setup. Guilt.
“I’m here now.”
“Good job.”
“Travis, I swear to God-”
“You’re never home, Dad! Before, you were always away on missions. Now, you don’t do missions but you’re always at work, and when you are home, you get pissed off about every little thing. If you don’t give a damn, why should I say anything?”
“That’s not true and you know it. I’m just adjusting. I know I’m not good at it, but I’m working on it.”
“Are you capable of apologizing to anyone besides Mom?
“I apologize to you when you deserve one.”
“Now seems like a pretty good time.”
“Jesus, you’re so much like your Mother sometimes. I swear that sometimes I think you two work together to drive me insane.”
“Well, I’m the one who got sent to my room, so it can’t be all that bad.”
“You owe your Mother an apology.”
“Yeah, I know,” he sighs.
“Sit up and tell me what’s going on.”
“I don’t feel like talking about it.”
“Yeah, I don’t care. Get up and talk to me. Why didn’t you tell me you were getting bullied?”
“Didn’t we just discuss that?”
I swear he’s just like Y/N.
“Travis.”
“Some of the kids at school think it’s funny that I’m scared to go to gym class, or that I jump when a book drops, or that I have panic attacks.”
“Why the hell are youi afraid of gym class?”
“A ball bouncing off the wall? A basketball bouncing-”
“Okay okay,” I sigh, sitting back. “You can’t let the bullies win. That’s not how your Mom and I are rasinging you.”
“I fought back and got suspended and, I’m sorry, isn’t that the Hansen way?”
“Are we sure you’re only 9?”
“I learn from the best.”
“That you do. Do you want to be home schooled?”
“Not forever,” he mumbles and I roll my eyes. “What now?”
“Speak up, I’m not raising you to be shy!”
“Why isn’t Mom having this talk with me?”
“Because she’s making dinner and I’m your Father.”
“You should’ve ordered something,” he goes on, completely ignoring the part about me being his Father.
Great, my kids hates me too.
“I offered to and she said that you prefer home cooked meals.”
“It doesn’t matter, she’s stressed out. You just have to do it.”
“How do you know this?”
“When she gets really upset over the things you do, I make dinner or talk her into ordering food,” he shrugs as if it’s no big deal.
“I’m trying to do better-”
“Don’t try, Dad. Just do it. Mom is here all the time and she deals with all of it, and then has to deal with your mood swings on top of it? It’s not fair.”
“Yeah, I know,” I mutter as I get up.
“Now who isn’t speaking up?”
“Watch it,” I warn ib the voice that lets him know he’s got no more buttons left to push, “and watch the swearing around your Mom. You know how much she hates it.”
“But why?”
“You’ve spent time with your grandparents, that’s not how she was raised. You’re too young to swear.”
“That’s not what you think.”
“You’re gonna swear anyway, so who gives a damn when you start? However, your Mom doesn’t like it, so cut it out.”
“I preferred when you two lived apart.”
“Well, get used to how things are now, because it’s how they’re staying.”
“Not if you keeo going on like this,” he mutters, picking up his book.
“Stop being a little shit and get ready for dinner. I’m taking everyone out.”
“Where?”
“Wherever your Mom wants. Get up and get dressed.”
Yeah, I owe him an apology, but he’s not getting one while he’s being a little shit.
It also doesn’t help that he’s right.
Trying to think of the romantic way to tell you that I’m taking you both out, I make my way downstairs and into the kitchen to see you sitting outside at the patio dinner table, smoking a cigarette and drinking wine.
How did I fuck this up? We were doing good and then, as usual, I got in the way. I’m the one starting the arguments, I’m burying myself in an attempt to keep the bit of sanity that I have, I’m not there for Travis like I used to be...
I keep fucking it up.
You’re right: this isn’t college and we can’t go on raising Travis like this. I have to start giving and stop taking. I’m not afraid of much, but I am terrified of losing you again, and I can tell that you’re on your last leg. I’m unforgiving and an entitled asshole, and you knew that when you fell in love with me, but the charm was that I never treated you like everyone else.
Well, never to this extent.
Now, I keep taking too much and don’t even think of giving anything back, and I can’t be mad that you’re ready to call off the wedding. Hell, I haven’t even seen you look at a bridal magazine in months.
If this is gonna get better at all, it’s gonna have to start with me.

I used to be a firm antler queen is a rotating position believer and I often thought it was the girl slated to be the next sacrifice being honored before her turn but every day I get more and more convinced that the antler queen isn’t any of them. Vanity fairs article about Jackie potentially being the antler queen started it rattling around in my brain (I don’t necessarily think it’s her or a figure of her, that theory just kicked off the concept of a Not Them antler queen). Now if you read the death and near death dreams as “it” manifesting as imitations of them, we see the wilderness guiding them where it wants them, taking sacrifices as it pleases without their input or a system to speak of. Eventually we know they do come up with their own system for the sacrifices, like they learn it’s rules enough to meet its requirements with intention or bargain with it or something along those lines. These Paul moments Ben has with the flickering, those can’t be nothing. I’m sorry but while it’s possible they’re really deep diving THAT hard into his delusions or fantasies, I find it really unlikely with the weird specifics embedded in them. Odd language, flickering tape screen, the transformation of the cabin, the way they seem to be pushing him somewhere. And he DOES keep getting framed with antlers. As has Lottie, the most obviously, and Jackie in her death dream. The framing of Lottie might not be framing her As Antler Queen, but as very intertwined with the wilderness. Ben seems to be an object of its interest too now, if we take the Paul scenes to be something more than his mind wandering. Jackie was framed with them as she took the hot chocolate (and her physical body was later integral to their survival which feels relevant to me too). With the antler queen BEING Lottie’s therapist in 2x07, I’m really starting to think it’s potentially projection of the wilderness. Like…they’re offering their sacrifice to some more literal physical projection of it somehow. Whether it’s viewed as mass hallucination or only one of them can see it and the rest play along or it’s a turn into the explicitly supernatural. I just really think these death dreams are a tangible supernatural realm, with Travis saying they could communicate with “it” when they’re near death. So maybe it comes out in other ways out there. I’m not saying I like this or hope for it or think it’s likely, because I’m not sure how I feel about it and so much is dependent on where the show goes, but it’s a possibility that went from nowhere on my radar to buzzing around my brain at warp speed, especially after 2x07. ANYWAY this is what the inside of my brain looks like at midnight after a really terrible day lol cheers to yellowjackets huperfixation taking the edge off I guess!

No thoughts just thinking about Dante reuniting with Travis and immediately noticing all of his bodily scars, injuries, and all the broken bones and asking him in a hushed tone, “Who did this to you?”
No thoughts just thinking about how Travis would have been going home in a wheelchair or in crutches, maybe even both depending on how strong his healing factor was; and Dante just going with it 100% percent to nurse him back to his feet. (And if he’s going to stay in that wheelchair for the rest of his life, Dante would be by his side through all of it)
No thoughts just Dante noticing Travis’ fatigue using either one of these and just picking him up himself. They both love it and will not admit it out loud.
No thoughts just Dante finally learning how to cook for the both of them for the sake of trying to help Travis out and also helping Travis get used to food that isn’t just hospital mush after two years.
No thoughts just Dante going out of his way to get Travis every little thing he takes an interest in. He notices a book series Travis says he’s never read? Goes and buys the whole set on Amazon and surprises it for him while they’re on the couch. It’s what he deserves.
No thoughts just Dante and Travis going out and Dante gladly, HAPPILY, wheeling Travis around because he just can’t believe that the two of them are hanging out together after so long.
No thoughts just Dante and Travis on the couch cuddled up next to each other because they’ve been without each other for so long that now they’re at home all they want to do is stay as close to each other as possible.
No thoughts just Dante laying on top of Travis while the other man plays with his hair. He likes hearing his heartbeat and it often puts him to sleep.
No thoughts just Dante and Travis deciding one day that they should just sleep on the same bed after falling asleep on the couch together for so long. They almost always end up wrapped in each others arms after a while.
No thoughts just Dante and Travis living a happy and peaceful life together after the events of Starlight knowing nothing will ever separate them again.

Okay let’s talk about gender.
(To get it out of the way, we’re going to be talking about Van as a cis AFAB person, because Liv’s gender is unrelated to Van’s. And while I do agree that it’d have been cool to have done something with that, and as a trans person I’m always looking for opportunities for that, I don’t think that just because an actor isn’t cis they can’t play cis characters, it’s a valid character choice in a vacuum. This post isn’t about that, anyway, so like... ramble over)
In S2E9 one of the coolest things they did was they took a very gendered conversation trope and then they immediately twisted it around and said “Yeah we’re not doing that, sike!”
So Coach returns to the cabin and he bumps into Natalie, and he tries to convince her to leave with him. He comes at her with a really male > female argument (because Coach is society-pilled), and it’s framed as logic vs emotion. So it goes:
Coach: I think you and I could probably survive the winter together. You don’t have to stay here. You’re not like the rest of these girls.
Natalie: Actually, I’m worse.
Coach: How can you say that?
Natalie: I let him die in my place. It was supposed to be me. You’re a good person, Coach. You really don’t belong in this place.
Now for me, it’s that use of the specific phrase “You’re not like the other girls” that made me sit up and take notice. I’ve written already about how Coach sees the rest of them as evil monsters, but he’s holding Nat up on this pedestal, in that way men so often do. And he thinks he’s using a logical argument, and that she’s using an emotional one.
“You don’t HAVE to stay here. You’re not LIKE them.”
And he thinks that she’s responding with emotion.
“Actually I’m WORSE.”
But the table flips, when she gives him a logical response. She’s worse, because she took part in it. Because she’s not just like the other girls, she’s not just one of them, she actively sacrificed Javi so save her own skin. She’s taken the logical side now, and flipped the argument on its head. Coach cries, because he has nothing to say to that. Without the veneer of logic and rationality, he doesn’t have words to cover for his emotional state. He doesn’t know how to handle her when she’s broken his mold. And then she throws his own logic back at him:
“You really don’t belong in this place.”
So he leaves. Because he just has no answer to that.
Cut to the very next scene, and Van and Travis are having a similar conversation. Again, Travis is the logical man, trying to make Van the emotional woman. And the way they’re talking is, again, so gendered.
Travis: You should be ashamed.
Van: Well I’m not.
Travis: The fact that you can even say that...
Van, interrupting: I'm not ashamed, Travis. I'm glad I'm alive. Just like you are.
Travis can't respond to that and turns away, as he takes the emotional side and Van hits the logical.
Van: And I don't think that any of us who are still here should feel ashamed of that. Ever.
Again, Travis has nothing to hit back on with that.
Van: Let your brother save you, Travis. After everything he went through out here, don't you owe him at least that?
Both times here we have male characters who are trying to control the conversation, who are coming at it from a perceived point of authority. Who assume that the women they’re talking to are going to respond with emotional (read: empty, weak, stupid, irrational) answers, and are not expecting push-back. And both times they receive a slap in the face. A response they weren’t anticipating, and cannot answer.
For Coach, he can’t handle the loss of authority, as an adult, as a man, as an authority figure, as Nat’s protector. And he finally snaps when he sees her ascend to the throne and decides that he’ll assert himself with violence.
Travis started the show with so much toxic masculinity. He pointed a gun at Nat for calling him a name, was SO insecure and fucked up about his own masculinity and his place in this new society, where his perceived authority and competence was challenged again and again. And now he’s grown to a place where he can really listen, can really hear what Van’s saying. And he acknowledges the truth in her words, and as hard as it is for him, he accepts her argument and joins in eating Javi. And that’s literally WHY (from a script-writing, thematic point of view) he survives to be rescued and Coach doesn’t.
Travis isn’t perfect, by any stretch. None of them are. But I feel like he’s gone through so much growth since we met him. And in S1 I found him so frustrating because so many of his plot beats were about the ways in which he conflicted with the ‘jackets, because he just struggled to let go of the social conditioning of toxic masculinity. And for their part, the ‘jackets treated him with a fair amount of toxicity too. The doomcoming didn’t make ANYONE look particularly great... But he’s really been putting in the work, and it’s not just about getting softer, but about being more open, and seeing the people around him AS people. Capable of having thoughts and understanding just as valid as his own.
Coach watches Nat get down off the pedestal he put her on and he hates her for it. She’s gotten her perfect halo dirty. Travis watches Van assert herself and remove herself from the pit he’d placed her in. And he respects her for it, acknowledges her, and re-evaluates, and changes.
Be like Travis.

Dalton: Yo I think i’m gonna try and get at Layla
Nate: Layla Carter? as in Maddy’s cousin bro really
Dalton: Yeah man I think she’s cute
What is there something wrong about that?
Nate: Nah man I just don’t think she’s really a relationship girl
Dalton: Yeah well, all i know is i’m making a move on her after this Win
Maddy: Okay Layla you’re totally checking out that guy
Cassie: What guy
Maddy: It’s one of Nate’s friends
Cassie: Oh Layla those guys look like assholes
Maddy: They are Assholes
Layla: No Dalton seems like a sweetheart
Cassie: They can seem like it but trust me they aren’t, and that goes for any guy honestly
But you guys would look really cute together
Like you should go talk to him
Maddy: Yeah since you’re so in love
Layla: I’m done with both of you
-After the game-
Dalton: Yoo what’s up guys
He said while looking at you
Andrew: Sup Cassie
Cassie: Hi Drew
Dalton: Hey Layla

Layla: I would love to be friends with you actually
Cassie: I think you guys would be amazing friends
Dalton: Then how about we hangout this weekend
Layla: Why do you wanna hangout
Dalton: Well we’re friends right

Layla: Yeah but I barely know you
Dalton: Exactly, I was thinking we exchange numbers so you can know more about me
Layla: Okay give me your phone
Josh: Aye Layla why isn’t Serena here?
Layla: Games aren’t really her thing
Josh: Well could you like
Let her know that I think she’s cool and shit-
Layla: Do you like my friend, Josh
Josh: Yeah
Just put in a good word for me please
Layla: Yeah okay
Dalton: Alright Layla i’ll text you
He says walking away
Layla and Cassie: Congrats on the win guys
Bye
Rue’s Narration
They started dating a month after that
They were a pretty cute couple, They introduced each other to their Families, they went out together, they were pretty serious.
Plus they just couldn’t get enough of each other
Tumblr media
But it wasn’t always couple goals with these 2
Now Layla wasn’t falling into her Cousin Maddy’s footsteps of having an abusive relationship like her and Nate, Dalton knew better. But Dalton and Layla were similar to them when it came to the other bullshit of a toxic relationship.
Dalton: I don’t get why you’re so fucking mad about this she’s just a friend
Layla: Friends don’t grope each other
Dalton: Oh come on I wasn’t even near the bitch
Layla: I seen it with my own two fucking eyes!!!!!!!!
Like seriously what the fuck
I have never
done shit like that to you
Have you ever seen me with a guy like that??!????
Dalton: Yes actually
Yes I fucking have and don’t deny it
You don’t remember you and that bitch ass guy from St. Mary’s.
Layla: God you’re stupid
Holy Shit
Literally drop me off right here you don’t need to take me all the way home
I’m not doing this with you actually
Dalton: What are you fucking crazy
Do you really think
that i’m gonna do that shit
Layla: I don’t fucking care Dalton drop me off
I swear i’m never talking to you ever again
But they would never last a week without each other.

The bandage feels rough in his palms as he wraps it around Sherman’s calf.
“Don’t put too much pressure on it without the crutches,” he tells Sherman, holding his gaze seriously. “It might just be a strain now but it doesn’t mean it can’t escalate.”
“You got it,” Sherman grumbles. “Can I get out of here?”
Will leans back into his chair, gesturing to the open door with his arm. “Yeah.”
Sherman puts the crutches under his armpits and pushes up onto his feet, hobbling out the door. Will sits in the chair a moment longer, staring at the now empty bed before grabbing the clipboard at its footboard and filling out the paperwork for Sherman’s file.
“Hey, sugar,” Drew says, knocking once on the infirmary door before strutting her way to his side. Her fingers comb through his tangled hair, gentle. “Head counselor meeting in five.”
“Michael isn’t here,” he hums. “Maybe check the cabin?”
Her fingers stop moving and then he remembers.
Michael is dead.
His hand hovers over the paper. It starts to shake and Will drops the pen like it burned him. He tosses the clipboard on the bed, standing up silently.
Drew’s hand slips from his hair to his hand. “It’s okay,” she whispers. She squeezes his hand tightly, only releasing when he squeezes back. “I do it too.”
His eyes trail over her tired face, the tips of a frown on her lips, stress wrinkles already appearing by her eyes. He doesn’t dare mention anything, though.
He stays quiet and they walk to the Big House.
“It’s awful,” he finally says when they’re steps away from the door. “We’re only 14 and we’re head counselors.”
“I know,” Drew sighs. “Come on, these fools have no patience.”
She drops his hand and only then does he see the mess of her hair. She pushes the door open and steps inside, her hand lingering on the handle before it twitches. Her hand pulls away from the handle and the door closes.
He takes a breath and pushes the door open.
Everyone looks at him before continuing a previous conversation.
“So, hon,” Drew says sweetly to Annabeth. “How’s the relationship?”
Annabeth’s face twitches. Drew moves her chair over a few inches and pulls up a chair for Will to sit in. He pats her hand in thanks as he settles.
“I can always ask my mother to…bless your relationship,” Drew smirks at Percy and Annabeth. “Perhaps she could bless you in certain areas too.”
“Drew,” Annabeth snaps. Her face is flushed red with embarrassment. “Quit it.”
Drew heaves out a sigh, leaning onto Will’s shoulder. “There goes my entertainment.”
“Okay, seriously,” Katie says. She sits straighter and glances at Chiron. “What’s this meeting for?”
“We need to discuss funerals,” Clarisse says, arms crossed. “Colors, when, whatever.”
Will can feel Drew tense when Clarisse begins to engage in a conversation with Travis and Pollux. He listens as everyone takes turns naming their dead siblings and the shade they want the shroud to be.
When it’s Drew’s turn, he places his hand on the back of her chair and pokes her shoulder. He catches Annabeth’s eye and she raises a brow at him. Will ignores her and waits for Drew to speak.
“Sierra needs baby pink, Maddox a pastel pink, and Laura needs coral,” Drew says, staring her nails as if she’s uninterested in planning her sibling’s’ funerals. But he can see the quiver of her jaw.
“What about Silena?” Percy asks with a tilt of his head.
The question is innocent. He means well. But Drew clenches her hands into a fist and slams it on the ping pong table, turning her head to look out one of the windows. A clear dismissal of the question and of Silena in general.
The air is thick and Will feels like he shouldn’t be here.
“Silena needs peach,” Clarisse says, clearing her throat.
Will can practically hear Drew’s train of thought. Silena needs to be kept in the ground.
“Okay, Will?” Annabeth prompts, pencil poised over a notepad. “How about you?”
“Um, uh,” he fumbles. “Uh, Isabella needs a lemon color. Brianne needs an amber color. Flynn needs goldenrod, so does Jack. And Michael-“
He chokes on the name. Will feels something grab onto his neck and squeeze. He coughs and he pushes his chair out, putting his head between his legs. Drew’s hand rests on his back. “Gold.”
He hears the scratch of the pencil on paper and Clarisse says, “Okay, meeting-“
“It’s your fault,” he whispers. His hands grip his hair, tugging gently before making it hurt.
“Hey, stop,” Katie says, grabbing at his hands.
“It’s your fault,” he repeats. He brings his head up and stares Clarisse in the eye. “I shouldn’t be here.”
“You're the head counselor, aren’t you?” she scoffs.
“Michael should be here,” he growls. He stands up and the feeling on his neck tightens. “And you killed him.”
Clarisse gapes, blinking until she processes what he’s said. “How dare you? I did not kill him, Percy did!”
“Don’t bring me into this!” Percy yelps.
“You both killed him!” Will shrieks. His hands fly up to point in their faces. “Both of you!”
“William,” Drew tries, bringing a hand to hold his forearm.
“No! If Clarisse wasn’t so fucking stubborn and so fucking stuck up, Michael would still be here. If you could have let go of your fucking pride over shit that doesn’t matter,” my brother would still be here!”
“I’ve lost brothers too, Solace,” Clarisse growls, standing up to her full height. “You don’t see me acting like a child-“
“I am a child!” he screams. He drops his hands and slams them on the table. “You didn’t go through two head counselors in less than a year, did you? You didn’t see that monster crush Lee’s head in, but I did. You didn’t see Michael fall but I did. I saw. I watched. I watched Percy kill him, I saw it all. I saw you, sitting on your ass in your fucking cabin while my brother fell to his death.”
“And you,” Will spits, whirling on Percy. The demigod’s face is full of shock and regret. But Will wants none of it.
Something dark sits in his chest, has been sitting since Lee died and it wants out. So he’s letting it out.
“You let him die. You killed him. You broke that bridge and you didn’t even look.” Percy tries to speak but Will slams his hands on the table again. “Shut it!”
“Will,” Annabeth says slowly. “I think maybe-“
“I think you should shut the fuck up.” He smiles fakely in her direction and takes in the wonderful pleasure of her surprise.
“Will, I’m sorry,” Percy says. “I tried-“
“Stop fucking lying! I watched you. You turned around and then Malcom gave you the phone and you made me save Annabeth when I could have saved Michael. You could have found his body, but you didn’t. And I will never forgive you.”
Will’s chest is heaving and the tension in the room is too suffocating. He has to get out.
He scrambles past the others
and out the door. He runs to his cabin, putting as much space between him and his brother’s killers as possible.
His body slams into the cabin door and his hand keeps slipping from the knob and his chest feels like it’s caving in.
“Oh, William.” It’s Drew.
“Honoka,” he gasps out. “I can’t- the door-“
“I got it, darlin,” she coos. “Let me do it.”
He lets her take his hand and stares as she opens the door. She pushes him in, closing the door behind them. Drew takes him to his bunk, asks him to lay down.
“Do you need a nap, hon?”
Will nods and Drew hums, taking the blanket at the foot of his bed and putting it on him. He tilts his head up and sees the concern on her face, plain and clear. That never happens.
“Will you lay with me?” he asks quietly, like a boy asking his mother.
Drew smiles and nods. He scootches over until there’s enough space for her. He waits until she’s done taking off her shoes and has her body on the bed before he pounces, clinging to her.
“Oh, Will,” she sighs. “What have they done to you?”
“You’re my best friend, Drew,” he deflects. “I love you.”
“I love you too, sugar. Want me to tell you about this pretty girl at school?”
He nods and she starts talking. Her voice is smooth and soft, and Will knows she’s laced charmspeak in her voice to lull him to sleep.
But he finds that he doesn’t mind. He lets her continue until he’s dead to the world.

BruceFest 2022 | Ted Raimi Photos & Signing Experience #1
Ted was the first person I got to meet at the festival! Seeing him in person on the stage at the opening ceremony was so surreal— it felt like a dream. Actually, throughout the entire weekend, I had to keep grounding myself and reminding myself that I was there. In the flesh. And they were, too.
Before taking my first picture with him, I was very fidgety and anxious and I was messing with my hair a lot, to the point where someone my dad and I had met at the fest, who was standing in line with us, started to pick on me about it. The man went right before me, and as he was leaving, I was standing next to Ted and he whispered something in his ear. I knew exactly what he was doing, and so I dejectedly whine, “Hey, come on! Don’t do that!”
Ted turns to me and goes, “oh, are you nervous about your hair?”
I say, “I am nervous about my hair, yeah. And they keep making fun of me for it!”
He immediately says “it looks great! It looks amazing! Are you kidding me?”
Ted helps me get in position for the picture. He’s super gentle and respectful! We take the picture, I say my goodbye, and then I get right back in line for another photo with Ted, but with my dad too!
Tumblr media
When I walk through the curtain again, Ted smiles and says “Hey, I know you! We go way back! Glad to see you again!”
Ted then instructs my dad to get on his left side. He explains to him that he’s going to push my dad away and that my dad has to look super pissed about it as Ted and I get all cozy together. 💀 I’d seen Ted do this in photos before online, and I was honored he wanted to try it out with me.
Tumblr media
Ted is incredibly personable, charming, and funny. He knows exactly what to say to make you feel at ease and treats you like an old friend. At the signings, he asked for my name, which you usually don’t get from celebrities at these events— and he remembered it throughout the weekend as well! But he also called me “dear” / “my dear” and “young lady,” which felt so nice.
Men can flatter women and make them feel beautiful and appreciated without being disrespectful and gross? Who woulda thought?
The first thing I asked him to sign was this print of an art piece I made of Travis. Here’s how our conversation went:
N: Hello!
T: Hey! How you doing again? Good to see ya!
N: I’m good, how are you? I just have this art print I’d love you to sign for me.
T: This is great!
N: Thank you!
T: Where do I—? How do I get these cool things? I always find them online.
N: Honestly? I will literally—
Then Bruce leans over to check out what Ted is signing. Ted shows him.
T: It’s me!
B: Where’s that from?
T: It’s from the game.
B: Really?
T: I’m a cop, yeah.
N: Rough night.
T: Yeah, rough night. It’s really weird, I guess I’m just learning this but I’m sure you’re quite used to it, but— there’s a whole bunch of fan art which is, like, an alternate reality of that world. So, this [my art piece] isn’t in the game, but it takes place during a long night where these—
B: Yeah, with Evil Dead there’s just a bunch of— just a bunch of art.
T: Yeah! Pretty much the same thing.
N: I will totally print it out and bring you another print tomorrow!
T: Would you?!
N: Yeah!
T: Is it expensive to do?
N: No, not at all!
T: Thank you! And who do I make it out to, first of all? Is it your— did you draw this?!
N: Yes!
T: This is your—?! Oh, I saw this online! I think it’s online?
N: I posted it a couple places, yeah.
T: Not on… not on Pinterest…
N: Instagram?
T: No, it was…
N: Tumblr?
T: Tumblr! I saw it on Tumblr! Yeah, you’re really talented!
And then he asks for my name. He notices my signature on my art and says he recognizes it. I pronounce it for him and told him that it’s a play on my name.
And then I quickly show him a picture of the gecko I got over the summer, who I named Joxer. Ted said he’s adorable. Bruce was leaning over and seemed to want a peek too, so I showed him, and then he started singing, “Joxer the mighty, smells like Aphrodite,” and Ted joined in. <3
I went through to get a couple more things signed. Heres how they turned out! Ted always has something funny to write on the pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sadly, there were no places in Estes park where I could get another print of my artwork, so I wasn’t able to fulfill my promise of getting one to him. At least I know that the Ted Raimi wanted a print of my art, though.
Insane. Crazy. Unbelievable.
I’ll be posting more about my experience at the fest with not only Ted, but Bruce too, so stay tuned! Until then, here’s Joxer, my idiot reptilian son. <3

Goes To My Head
Written for the @writers-choice prompt "the droid you're looking for"
Title is from Red, Red Wine by UB40
___
Nico wakes well after midnight to the sound of pounding on his cabin door. He’s on his feet in an instant, sword in hand. He’s been woken like this a few times over the year that he’s stayed at camp, and it’s never once been good news.
He approaches the door silently, barely breathing, craning his neck in an attempt to peer out the window without being seen.
There’s a thump outside, then muffled conversation, and… giggling? Frowning, Nico takes a step closer to the door.
“Hey, Nico?” a voice calls softly. “It’s Cecil. I’ve got Will with me. You in there?”
Nico pulls the door open, squinting at the two boys on his doorstep. There’s Cecil, looking a bit exasperated, propping up a wobbly-looking Will, who’s beaming brightly. His blonde hair is particularly messy, shining like a halo in the moonlight.
“Nico!” Will exclaims happily, “I missed you!” He lunges from Cecil to Nico, who suddenly finds himself supporting most of the other boy’s weight. Nico stumbles, just managing to catch the taller boy around the waist.
“Whoa there, sunshine,” he says, startled. Will smells like campfire and something else sweet and sharp… maybe rubbing alcohol? Or vodka.
“Are you drunk?” Nico asks, now fairly sure this isn’t a world-ending emergency, at least judging from the other boys’ demeanor.
“Yeah, he really, really is,” Cecil grimaces. “Sorry to wake you, man. I can’t take him back to his cabin in this state. Do you mind keeping him here?”
Will is warm against Nico’s side, all long limbs and vodka breath. He giggles and sways, and the shorter boy gives up on supporting him, doing his best to lower his friend to the floor without dropping him. He’s never seen Will quite this incapacitated before.
Nico sighs, eyeing the heap of Will at his feet. “Yeah, I guess. What happened? Thought you guys were just doing popcorn and Star Wars tonight.”
When he’d left the Big House hours ago, Cecil and Will had been in the midst of a Star Wars marathon, but there hadn’t been any booze in sight. Tired and losing interest in their endless deep dives, Nico had excused himself and gone to bed.
Cecil pulls a face. “Connor and Travis showed up. You know. We went down to the beach and one thing led to another.”
Nico nods. It’s not entirely unexpected. There’s usually someone sneaking booze into camp on any given summer weekend, and the Stolls are the most common culprits. Will doesn’t usually partake quite this much, but there’s a first time for everything.
“I don’t really have anywhere to put him,” Nico says doubtfully. Most of the Hades cabin is currently under construction, and there’s really only one usable bed. He nudges Will with his foot. Will wraps his arms around Nico’s leg and hums happily.
Cecil shrugs, grinning. “I wouldn’t worry about it. He looks comfortable.”
Will does, actually, curled up in an overlarge hoodie on the floor. He gives Cecil a sleepy thumbs-up. “I love you, Cecil,” Will mumbles.
“Love you too, dude,” Cecil says. He gives Nico an apologetic look. “You sure you don’t mind?”
Nico sighs. “It’s fine Cecil, don’t worry about it.”
Nico lowers himself to the floor beside Will as the cabin door closes, carefully extricating his ankle from Will’s grasp.
“I’m so drunk,” Will says sincerely, gazing up at Nico with wide eyes. He seems to be having trouble focusing on Nico’s face.
Nico nods. “You sure are. How come?”
“Dunno. Connor gave me this stuff that tasted like strawberries. So it was like strawberries but also vodka. But like strawberries. Like…” Will blinks, then reaches out to grasp Nico’s arm. “Whoa, how come your cabin’s spinning?”
Nico snorts. “I think that’s you, dork.”
“Oh. Right.” Will sighs, closing his eyes. There’s silence for a long moment. Nico would think the other boy had fallen asleep, except that Will keeps his fingers wrapped around Nico’s wrist, his thumb stroking softly against Nico’s skin.
“Are you feeling sick? Do you need a puke bucket?” Nico asks.
“No, ‘m okay,” Will mumbles. “Took some ambrosia. Probably won’t puke.”
At least there’s that. Nico watches the other boy, wondering what to do with him. There’s probably no harm in leaving him here on the floor. He’s not sure Will’s capable of moving much further anyway.
“I’m so drunk,” Will groans suddenly, rolling onto his back.
Nico nods. “Yeah, you said.”
“I don’t wanna be so drunk anymore. Stupid Stolls. I just wanted to watch Star Wars.”
Will suddenly fixes Nico with an intense gaze, looking far more lucid than Nico thought him capable of in this state. “Hey, how come you left?” he says.
Nico shrugs. “I don’t know. I was tired. You and Cecil seemed to be having a good time.”
Will’s brow furrows. “Were we making you feel left out? I never wanna make you feel left out, Nico,” he says earnestly.
Nico can’t help smiling at that. “No, you never make me feel that way. I swear, I was just tired. I wasn’t feeling The Force.”
“I’m always feeling The Force,” Will says gravely.
Nico smiles fondly. “Yeah, I know.”
Will’s tried, doggedly, over the last year, to share his fervor for Star Wars with Nico. And Nico appreciates that Will wants to include him, but he honestly just can’t get into it. Every time Will puts one of the movies on, Nico’s mind starts drifting. But the movies are always paired with Will’s sunny energy, and Will’s enthusiastic commentary, and just… Will. So it’s hard to mind too much.
“I’m really wiped,” Nico tells the other boy, patting his shoulder. “I’m gonna go back to bed, okay? Are you sleeping here on the floor? I can grab you a blanket…”
Will immediately shakes his head, trying and failing to sit up. “No, ‘m sleeping with you.”
“Oh really,” Nico says flatly.
“Yeah.” Will nods vigorously, then clasps his hands to his head. “Ow. But you gotta help me ‘cause I don’t think my legs work.”
“Gods,” Nico sighs. “Fine.” He crouches closer to Will, manhandling him into an almost-sitting position and grabbing one of Will’s arms to haul it over his shoulder.
They make it to standing, somehow. Will’s not that heavy, but he’s doing a phenomenally poor job of supporting his own weight, and he’s a good six inches taller than Nico. It’s not really fair, honestly. Every time Nico achieves another hard-won inch of height, the height gods seem to bestow two inches on this blonde idiot.
Thankfully, it’s not far to the bed, and Nico deposits the other boy unceremoniously onto the mattress.
One of Will’s legs is hanging off the bed, and with great difficulty he manages to shift it. He’s still precariously near the edge, though, and Nico tries in vain to shove him over another inch or two. Finally giving up, Nico climbs over the other boy to lie down against the wall. There’s a long moment of peace.
“Sorry,” Will mumbles suddenly.
Nico opens his eyes. Will’s managed to roll himself over. He’s inches away, staring at Nico in the dark.
“For what?”
“Bothering you. Waking you up.”
“It’s fine, I really don’t mind,” Nico assures him. “Just don’t puke in my bed, okay?”
“I won’t.”
Nico closes his eyes again. His mind is just starting to drift when Will’s voice jolts him back into consciousness again.
“Travis tried to kiss me.”
“Hmm? Oh.”
That’s… surprising. Nico’s never had the impression that Travis had any particular interest in Will. Or in guys at all, for that matter. But he’ll readily admit he’s not the best at reading people. He gazes at the blonde boy in his bed. Will looks… guarded. Or maybe like he’s… waiting for Nico to say something?
“Um,” Nico says blankly.
Will nods, as if that’s exactly the response he was expecting.
“I told him I didn’t want to. Because I have a crush on you,” Will says matter-of-factly. Then his eyes go wide. “Shit. You were the one that I wasn’t supposed to tell that to.”
Nico presses his lips together, suppressing a laugh. Drunk Will is kind of cute. “It’s okay,” he says. “I won’t tell anyone.”
Will lets out an exaggerated sigh of relief. “Cool, thanks,” he says.
The thing about Travis is surprising. The drunken crush confession isn’t, really. At this point Nico had assumed that both he and Will had a crush and each knew the other had it. It’s just that neither has actually done anything about it yet. It’s kind of nice to hear Will say it, even if Nico’s not sure the other boy will remember any of this tomorrow.
“Don’t tell my mom,” Will says suddenly, his strawberry vodka breath wafting into Nico’s face.
Will suddenly looks wide awake again, his eyes boring into Nico’s. Nico’s never spoken a single word to Will’s mother.
“What - um. Don’t tell your mom you… have a crush on me?” Nico can feel his face heating. Gods, it’s really hard to put those words out into the world. At least while entirely sober.
Will rolls his eyes. “No silly, she already knows that. Don’t tell her I’m drunk.”
Nico bites his lip. “I won’t say a word.”
“Kay. You’re the best.” Will beams at him, then closes his eyes again.
Nico takes a deep breath. Okay. This isn’t so bad. They’ve slept near each other before. Never quite in the same bed. But it’s fine. They can laugh about it tomorrow. Or more accurately, Nico’s planning on teasing Will about this for the rest of his life.
And then suddenly Will’s hand is in his. Nico’s stomach flip-flops in an extremely enthusiastic manner, considering how exhausted as the rest of him is.
“Room still spinning?” he asks softly.
“Not as much,” Will whispers. “That time I just wanted to hold your hand.”
“Oh. Okay.” Nico smiles into the dark cabin. It’s nice, the feeling of Will’s hand in his. It kind of warms him from the inside out. He closes his eyes. Again.
Then - “hey, Solace.” Nico blinks into the suddenly not-so-darkness. “You’re glowing.”
“Oh!” Will opens his eyes, looking startled. “Sorry.”
“No, it’s okay, just - I haven’t seen you do that before. Why are you glowing?”
“I um…” Will swallows, looking embarrassed.
Nico frowns. “Is it like, a drunk thing?”
“No, I think it’s just… you make me happy,” Will whispers.
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“Do - do I make you happy too?” Will asks tremulously, and gods, really? It’s like three in the morning.
Nico squeezes his hand. “Of course you do. Idiot.”
Will beams.
“Go to sleep, nerd.” Nico kicks him gently.
Will closes his eyes, still smiling.
“Nico?”
“Mm?”
“You’re the droid I was looking for,” he mumbles earnestly.
Nico blinks. “I have no idea what that means.”
But Will doesn’t answer, finally seeming to have fallen asleep. He’s still glowing softly, Nico’s hand clasped in his.
“Sweet dreams, night light,” Nico whispers.

Hoi! anon again!! so i wanted to ask something abt Dotwd this time. i wanted to ask if you had any "what-ifs" abt twdg & Dotwd. like what if lee & clem went with lilly during episode 3?
Ooooh you don't know WHAT you just asked me o(〃^▽^〃)o
Tumblr media
[None of this is canon to DoTWD, by the by]
So on a Discord call with my friend, I remember he asked me this SPECIFICALLY. Because we were watching a TWDG "What If" vids on YouTube and one vid was what if Lee went with Lilly. So he asked me, in the context of DoTWD, how would that play out if it were to happen.
Well, not-really-spoilers-anymore but Ben is written to be Rachel's brother. And personally, I can't see Ray leaving Ben permanently in any scenario, that's just not her. Not to mention Lilly doesn't trust Ben at fucking all. So how would that work out?
Lee would have to lie to her. But the minute she realizes, and Clem does, she'd be piiiised. I don't think she'd talk to him for a minute. Hard snub him. Personally, I believe Ray would abuse any opportunity to get back to him.
But the one I wrote for is Lee leaving her with Kenny, Ben, Travis and Chuck. Since Lee isn’t there, neither is Clem. She’d be crushed along with Kenny who’d rightfully feel betrayed. The train would take longer w/o him, meaning they’d put Duck down before leaving, and Katjaa would die just the same as in canon. This also means they missed Christa and Omid.
I think Ben would confide in Travis about what happened, and Travis would be the one to tell him to keep that shit quiet.
They get to Savannah. Molly tolls the bells and they get to the manor. Since there’s only 4 of them, they’d all go together down to River Street and see no boats. They find Molly (after Kenny gets his ass folded) and she helps them get back to the manor with Ray’s convincing. Meaning no Vernon.
So, they’re herd and stuck moping the boat situation. Ray wanders outside to be alone. I should to mention that Ray would be really quiet and reserved since Lee took Clem and left with Lilly. I mean, seeing your father figure literally abandon you and take your surrogate sister with him for someone who tried to kill your brother and killed another member of the group is a lot for a now 9-year-old to fully process. I think like she would feel confused and hurt more than anything. As to how she’d find the boat; she’d probably just open it for no reason, she’s naturally curious. When she finds it, she runs inside and gets the guys (Molly sticks around still).
Kenny inspects it and says all it needs is gas and a battery. Travis suggests Crawford, they go to Crawford. Minus Brie and Vernon, Molly would handle the role of where everything is but it’ll take long due to less people. Ben doesn’t do that dumb thing Telltale made him do for comedic effect but let’s say the walkers banging on the door causes the axe to slip from the handles and it’s go time. Ben, thinking it’s the end of the line, confesses, and Travis has to stop Kenny’s (big) ass from mauling Ben. Kenny says he’s not getting on that boat with them, but Ra says she’s not leaving anywhere without Ben, and Travis is more on the lines of “I know he fucked up royally but we can discuss this when we aren’t about to die”.
They get through to the armory and Kenny gets that shotgun and covers them from behind. The get to the window leading out. Molly, Chuck, Kenny go first.
***
That bell goes off next to Ben and he gets snatched by Oberson like in canon. Travis would be the one to grab him, but he’s struggling. Ben tells him to let go, but Travis won’t hear it. Ray calls for Kenny to help them. Kenny comes back, but the look he gives Ben, it’s full of contempt, malice and disregard as he looks away and descends the ladder.
Travis isn’t strong enough to hold onto him alone. And Ben eventually slips from his grasp, and lands on the bottom of the bell tower. Crack.
Travis just stares until he hears Chuck hurry them from the ladder. Having to drown out Rachel’s gut turning screaming, he grabs her and escapes the tower.
The way home was awful. The time there was worse. Travis could get the girl to calm down even for a second. Throwing every object she could pick up at the fisherman, screaming any insult she could conjure at him until Molly told Travis all the noise was going to draw attention. Travis had to drag the poor child upstairs and lock her in the office until she just stopped. She did, after and hour. When she ran out of projectiles to throw at him, and energy to throw them. After a while, she just wanted to hide, and wanted Travis to go away.
Travis obliges, and he leaves her. He sits at the top of the stairs and just… thinks. He can still feel Ben’s grip around his hand.
He keeps replaying it, over and over. The sound of him screaming as he plummeted to his death, the sickening crack as his body collided with the wood, Rachel’s mortified screeching, and Kenny. Watching. Ignoring. Complicit.
Travis sees Kenny come near the stairs.
T: “Don’t. Don’t you fucking come near us.”
The older man doesn’t argue, and returns to the bottom of the stairs.
Eventually, it was time to leave. The boat was repaired. The choice of who was coming was to be made there and now. Kenny didn’t want to in Savannah any longer.
Molly opted to go on her own. She was always better on her own anyways.
Chuck was still displeased with what happened at the bell tower, but seeing as he had no other plans. He chose to go.
Travis, on the other hand, didn’t know what the fuck to do. It hasn’t been three hours and he’s being forced to chose between staying behind in a dead city or going with the asshole who was complicit in his best friend’s death. At that point, he retreated back into the office with Ray, who’d bawled herself into a restless sleep. He had to think of them; himself and Ray. She’d have another meltdown if he chose to tag along with Kenny in that stupid, fucking boat. Hell, he’d have to make sure she didn’t murder the man or toss him overboard in his sleep. On the other hand, staying in Savannah with no chance to make it out alone was a death sentence.
Travis shook the girl awake. Tiredly, she looked at him, silent.
T: “… he fixed the boat.” R: “…” T: “He said—” R: “I don’t care.” T: “…” R: “…” T: “We can just get on. Ride until we dock somewhere, and go our own way. How’s that sound?” R: “…on our own?” T: “On out own. Anywhere you want.” R: “Anywhere?” T: “Mhm.” R: “… we can’t stay?”
Travis shook his head.
T: “This city’s tapped dry. And it’s full of walkers. I’m not gonna promise anywhere else is safer, but Savannah’s dead. I’m sorry.” R: “… Then mama’s dead, too, isn’t she?” T: “…” Rachel sat up, slumped. R: “…I don’t really care… I’ll wherever you go… just don’t leave me too, okay?”
Travis realized, he hadn't even fully processed that they'd both been abandoned at the same time. Just, discarded. Not even an after thought.
T: “Promise.”

Hi Penn! My name's Kit and I'm probably one of your biggest fans. (And also Travis of Sticks and Stones. He's pretty amazing too). I've been following you since Seattle and I'm having a bit of a fangirl moment sending you this Ask...
OK... my question: Describe an average day in your life.
Oh, hi, @kitn-underfoot ! It’s amazing to meet you! Biggest fan you say? Since Seattle? Damn, that’s like… early days…. I was still knocking at the knees back then. Hey! Hey Trav!! You can tune that later, come here…. We’ve got our biggest fan, Kit, say hi!
Hi Kit!! Pleasure to meet you! Thanks for enjoying our stuff! Who knows, maybe we’ll stop near you on tour and we can say hi in person!
Okay you’ve said your piece, now get outta my ask inbox. Shoo! (He just rolled his eyes at me and jabbed me in the shoulder with his finger). He’s lucky I’m in a chipper mood…. I’m kidding, I love that man, I dunno what I’d do without him.
Describe an average day in my life? Hmm, it still blows my mind how much that’s changed, and so quickly too. God, I mean, the lives I’ve lived before now, compared to the one I count myself lucky to wake up to every morning??? It’s like night and day. So, I’ll give you a window into my current little slice of heaven:
Most mornings I stir awake at 11 at the absolute earliest, most often lying atop Eveline’s heart, but sometimes we switch it up and I curl up in her hand or her hair. Neither of us are big on rising early. Most of the time we snooze our alarm three and four times. Travis usually ends up having to slam on our hotel room door just to finally get us up. He loves that, I know (sorry, Trav…). One of the things I absolutely love about my life is I find myself someplace new sometimes within the span of 24 hours. We always love exploring wherever we are: see the sights, get lost, meet up with friends if we have them there. Sometimes we all hang as a group, sometimes it’s just Ev and I.
Alternatively, if the weather’s shitty or we’re tired from being on the road, we’ll just hole up in one of our hotel rooms and jam or write something or just order room service and pig out.
Then, when the sun goes down, it’s time to get to work. Sticks and Stones warms up and goes through sound check and I check my equipment backstage… then, before I know it, I’m suddenly onstage with my best friends behind me and so many wonderful friends in the making in front of me, swaying and singing along with me. I play my heart out, have fun, usually make an idiot of myself one way or another, meet people backstage, sign a million things until I’m terrified my skin is just going to permanently turn silver, and then, we crash, and I find myself settled back over the beating heart of the woman I love and we get ready to do it all again, someplace else.
Isn’t it insane that I get to claim that as my routine? Never in my life would I have thought something like that would ever be possible for someone like me. And yet, here I am, living it. It’s craziness. But…. It’s our craziness and it’s something I enjoy sharing with people like you. So… thanks for enjoying my stupidity captured in sound waves. And thanks for believing in me. It means in the world.
With love, one of Kit’s biggest fans,
Penn

stoll brother headcanons for the soul please
Here we go away for a second fucking time. Anon this is not directed at you but my fucked up Wi-Fi and I’m so very sorry you won’t ever get to see the original masterpiece.
Two hours I worked on that TWO HOURS
TW: mentions of war, death, blood, hinted child neglect and abuse. None of this is really discussed in detail until the very last hc, but that’s pretty tame.
Travis
Everyone seemed him as an open book. The brother who forgives without a second thought, who doesn’t have a care in the world.
That’s actually wrong. Kinda.
He does forgive easily, too easily, but he never forgets and because he never forgets there is a time when he’s pushed too far and will never forgive that person again.
Travis held onto to the hope that his father and mother do care for so long, longer than Connor.
The day he held Connor, who was bleeding out, was the day he gave up on his dad. The day something in Travis hardened when it came to their father.
It was when he found their mother, long after the wars but before he really left camp for good, that he stopped loving her. She had a new family, a new set of kids, one boy one girl. She had a husband and a house and a smile that was real. Her favorite blue dress no where in sight and those blue nails he could still remember were replaced by a shorter set with the color of peach.
He never told Connor about it. Never told him how he prayed and begged for his father to help, how he found his mother livings life without the sons she had given up on.
He loves, he will always love them. But Travis stopped thinking they’d ever love him. And his longing for them, his naive hope, died the same day Connor lived, no thanks to them
Travis will always back up Will Solance for this. He can never than the son of Apollo enough for saving his brother
Travis didn’t steal. Well, he did, but it wasn’t that simple. He was diagnosed with kleptomania when he was 23 years old
When Travis stills it’s not because he wants to, it’s because he can’t help it. He stopped trying to explain that once he turned 13, no one but Connor ever listened.
He hated it. Hated that he took things he didn’t even want, didn’t have a need for. It was the flowers in Katie’s hair, a stray paintbrush at the arts and crafts table, a box of bandages from Will, it was nothing but it was enough for him and his brother to gain a reputation.
Travis hates lying. Hates it more than anything.
He doesn’t lie, never could, hated the bitter taste of it on his tongue. He’s learned to talk circles around people, to say something that has a completely different meaning than they think.
It’s a habit that his siblings who he raises pick up from him, even those with a differently godly parent. They all learned he hates lying, but no one other than Connor knows why.
He always knows when someone is lying. Can feel it burn on his skin and leave a terrible taste in his mouth, even if the lie isn’t directed at him.
This gift from his father is more of a curse than anything else. And he’s so very thankful that no one other than his brother knows about it. He’s not sure he could stomach being used as a lie detector in any war.
When he goes to college at camp jupiter he tries to start fresh
It’s cutting his hair in different styles again and again until he’s so good at it others are coming up asking him to do theirs.
It’s coloring his hair, changing his outfits and listening to every genre of music there is, hoping that when he looks in the mirror he’ll finally feel at home
Despite how nice everyone is, now he isn’t out casted for being a child of Hermes, this place isn’t home. These people aren’t his family and they don’t want to be. It’s just as suffocating as camp half blood if a bit more manageable
Slowly he talks and less with everyone who isn’t Connor. He’s at college, he’s busy and so are they. They don’t have time for big brother Travis, they have their own cabins now. Their own responsibilities. And they’re getting use to not seeing him every day.
It hurts more than he wasn’t to admit
He goes through just about every major there as well until he somehow ends up deciding he wants to work with kids, when then transfers to him wanting to be a teacher
Connor
He’s the bitter brother. Less forgiving, more prone to snap and snarl. The one who people need to work to earn respect and forgiveness
Connor holds grudges easily, he is bitter and you do have to work to earn his forgiveness. But he always forgives in the end.
As he gets older it’s easier for Connor to move on, he’s shared his anger and hurt instead of ignoring it. He’s okay with where he’s at
Connor despite how much he hates his mother, father, and Luke knows he will never stop loving them
In a perfect world if given the chance, if they proved themselves to him, he’s forgive them for everything in a heartbeat
He hates his mom for leaving them without a second glance, hates her for hurting Travis, but he loves her. He loves the woman who held him when he cried, even if it was rare. He misses the woman who made pillow forts with he and Travis on stormy nights, if she was home.
His dad is and will always be complicated. Connor hates him for Luke, blames him for Luke. Blames him for he and his brother and their entire cabin becoming outcasts in the one place that should have been home. Hates his dad for letting them stay unclaimed for a year. Loves him for keeping Travis alive through not one but two wars. Loves him for never actually milking him despite the unkind thoughts Connor has had, has even shared with him in his anger.
Luke his big brother and Luke on the other side of the battlefield are two very different people in his mind. One he loves the other he hates
Connor ends up as a mechanic once he leaves camp.
Travis helped him find a trading school for it once Connor realized it’s what he wanted to do. Connor will never forget the smile on his brothers face the day he was accepted into the school and the day he had a makeshift graduation
Connor always loved pulling things apart to put them together again. But it was never something he could really explore at camp. He was a child of Hermes, and children of Hermes weren’t mechanics
Part of Connor decided to do it to spite his father another part to try and figure out who he was outside of his godly parent, outside of his cabin and camp
Somehow he reconnected with Leo Valdez, who ends up getting him to visit came again and help out with the next generation of demigods
Connor loves it. They accept him so easily and they look up to him. He’s a demigod who found a future that doesn’t have to do with his godly parent and if he mentions how his brother is a teacher despite being a child of Hermes than Travis never has to know
Connor doesn’t stay at camp often but he does make sure to visit
Connor never really cut off contact with everyone but he didn’t try to keep talking to them when they stopped
Part of it was because he was bitter on his brother behalf. They stopped talking to Travis. And maybe his brother didn’t really try to keep contact but Travis was never one to reach out first
But with time Connor ends up sending the birthday texts and does the odd Iris message here and there. If it goes unanswered than that’s not his problem
He’s in better connection with everyone mostly because of and through Leo though. Leo ends up as one of his closest friends, one of his only friends from the world of being a demigod
Connor hates Percy Jacobson
He will always stand behind Percy in war. Will always follow his lead. And he knows, he knows he shouldn’t blame Percy but he does.
Annabeth Chade had a new best friend when Percy came. She left camp, left what he had then considered home still. Left him, left the small makeshift family of year rounders (which had been such a smaller group before the war)
He’s the reason to many are dead. And really that’s not true. Connor knows it’s not Percy’s fault, that Percy blames himself already. But he hates him anyways
And the worst thing of all, he blames him for Luke. Not as much as he blames his father but he still blames him.
Percy Jackson is when his life took a turn for the worst and while the son of Poseidon had no real control Connor can’t help but to hate him
Both
It actually took a bit of time for the Hermes cabin to accept the
Despite staying unclaimed for a year it didn’t change the fact that they were full blooded brothers who weren’t twins. That for some reason Hermes went back even after Travis was born.
Everyone seemed to think this meant they were his favorites, or at least they were favored in some form by him
Travis was pretty sure their dad forgot who their mother was until he went home with her and came face to face with a baby Travis
When they became head counselor’s it was accepted at first. There was two of them, they weren’t even the oldest children of Hermes.
But they were the only year rounder then, the only ones who have been at camp nearly as long as Annabeth Chase.
They may have raised half the camp, they may have been The big brothers but no matter how much they loved their siblings they never truly felt at home in the Hermes cabin.
They each have a shoebox (that can magically expand) which holds the most important possessions they have, even if it’s mostly for memories
Travis has the first birthday card Connor ever made it. Connor was five and he was seven, he had always made sure to get and give something to Connor but on his seventh birthday for perhaps the first time Travis received a gift. A paper filled with a tiny hand prints and splatters of colors.
There’s also a flower, that he convinced Lou Ellen to preserve for him, that Katie had put in his year. A small reminder of a time when they didn’t hate each other’s guts. When they only had soft smiles for each other and bright eyes.
Travis has at least one card from every sibling. Which isn’t much, no one really paid attention to his or Connor’s birthday, but the fact that there were any at all meant the world to him
He has one picture of his mother and father, funny enough it has both of them. From before even he was born, both with smiles on their faces.
He has many pictures of everyone else in his life and only one with him. He’s with Connor and they’re caught mid-laugh, bandages wrapped all over them and there’s a finger cutting off a corner of it. Travis distantly remembers a laughing Will taking the picture.
Connor has an old stuffed bunny, he can’t remember when he first got it but he knows Travis is the one who gave it to him.
He has a origami flower, a gift from a son of Aphrodite. Connor’s not sure why he kept it but he’s never been able to throw it out
He has letters, letter after letter from Travis. All from when his brother left camp, some from his time in college and some from his time in the mortal world.
They have matching bracelets from their father
Neither have any idea what they actually do, if they do anything at all
Both say they keep it on, as a reminder of each other when apart. Something that shows how connected they are.
Which is true but it’s also nice to have a reminder that even if it was just once, their dad has thought about them.
It’s leather bracelets, with one green gem in each, and a small charm for their father. A shoe with wings.
They both hate strawberries
They never enjoyed them before camp. The fruit always either too sweet or too bitter
It always felt like no matter what every corner they turned there was a strawberry. Strawberry this strawberry that, at every meal every day. Loved by all campers except them.
The smells of strawberries brought them back to moments full of blood and screams. The color made them sick, too similar to the blood of their friends.
Strawberries reminded them of camp, of summer, of war and death. Strawberries was something they hate and would always hate.

wait now i need to know youre idea on silas attacking dylan
I’m going to actually put a read more here because this is wildly long. I have to establish the fact that Silas is overall pretty non-violent and all of the evidence for this, and then I have to actually explain my theory on Silas coming to the camp.
psst: I think it’s because of Dylan
Ok, facts:
0) I've already mentioned this but pre-game we only know of Silas hurting one person, and that's Caleb, and it was under duress. Travis just says he knows of 'sightings', which is pretty neutral language even though he already hates the kid. I find it hard to believe that Travis wouldn't mention the white wolf murdering people up and down the coast even if he doesn't elaborate that much on the topic.
1) Silas doesn’t hurt Max and Laura. sure, he was on the road but he seemed distressed and then he fled. Eliza almost certainly had a hand in things once the car crashed, and again, I don’t think Eliza holds any ill will towards any non-Hacketts until late in the game, but considering Silas’ overall nature, Eliza was almost certainly protecting her son vs. protecting Laura.
2) Silas is notably the only werewolf active and free during one full moon while the summer camp is active, and there are no attacks and possibly no sightings. The spooky drawing could be based on Ryan’s story, or a camper sighting Silas or Eliza during that night. The latter is compelling evidence that again, Silas was in the area and did nothing.
3) Silas has a small active role in the game compared to the other werewolves, when you consider impact vs. active werewolf time. Until the final chapter, Silas is only responsible for one potential infection and one potential death, out of 5 active chapters. Kaylee is responsible for one potential infection and is only active as a werewolf for 2 chapters. Chris is active for ~1 chapter and is responsible for one potential death. I’m counting the final chapter in a different category because how much is Silas and how much is Eliza is unclear at that point.
Now, my wild speculation:
Silas dives into things during chapter 5, in which he goes to the radio hut. As far as we are aware, this is Silas’ first move ever at actively approaching people and attempting to harm them. A few things to consider:
Silas may have been influenced by the other werewolves in terms of energy, competition, ect. I’m under the opinion that he only made a move because the hunt was on and started by the other werewolves and he was in the area*
How much “plot armor” is justified in universe has an effect on things, but let’s say that it’s reasonably justified. At that point, Silas is the only werewolf that makes sense to attack Ryan in the event that Dylan isn’t bitten. Silas cannot kill Ryan here, and barely hurts him at all even with failed QTEs. I think Silas is still far less aggressive than the other wolves at this point, and thus it would make sense the devs put him here to attack Ryan without the potential to kill him.
Dylan is the only person Silas can infect during the course of the game. That’s BONKERS to me. For plot reasons, Dylan couldn’t be infected by Kaylee here, but Caleb was still active in the area and could have been used to infect Dylan story-wise. The above point lends itself to needing Silas having to be the one, but it’s worth noting the reason I’ve been diving into this idea.
*Silas was in the area. WHY WAS HE IN THE AREA? Silas has been back in the area for let’s say at least 3 full months, considering he had to rebuild his cage and move back in prior to the day Laura and Max showed up.
It’s not clear whether Caleb and Kaylee were locked up during the night Laura and Max arrived. I’m cynically guessing no, they rarely ever get locked up if they don’t have to. In that case, Jedediah and Bobby are likely out and about during at least that night, and didn’t see Silas near the camp. So, Silas probably stuck to his area of the woods prior to the main night of the game, and potentially the full moon before that.
So, hunting with the other wolves didn’t draw him to the area, because he would have been spotted previously.
Obviously, Ryan had to see him to incite the events of chapter 10. But it doesn’t really make sense UNLESS Silas is newly drawn to the camp. Has only been drawn to the camp since the summer camp started this year.
Full make-’em-up time:
Personally I feel like Silas has been in the area for a longer time, lending itself even more to the weirdness that none of the Hacketts had spotted him before. Or rather, the weirdness that Silas is at the camp in chapter 5.
I do think Silas was also there last full moon but only turned violent when influenced by the other werewolves. I also think that Silas was there in human form during some part of the camp.
I think a lonely albino boy in the woods would obviously look onto other people’s lives. And creeping on people from the safety of the woods was obviously something that Silas did to a certain extent in human form, because people spotted an albino child as well as a white wolf. But nobody in camp spotted him this summer, presumably because he’s largely quite careful.
but even though he came to the area, that still doesn’t really explain him being drawn to it though, because there would have been a ton of sightings if on every full moon he went to places that people frequently gathered.
[puts on tinfoil hat that reads: “I LOVE DYLAN”]
This summer, the radio hut up and running. And Dylan did the morning announcements before anyone was awake. And Dylan played music.
Silas liked the music. Silas liked being around the camp without having to fully hide himself away. When noone was around to see him, he was more free to relax and enjoy a tiny sliver of life that was taken from him. He was free to enjoy music often. Even if people occasionally play music near the woods or outskirts of town, Silas found a consistent source.
Peering in the camp, hiding, while everyone is in groups and chatting with each other is something that Silas probably did. But standing near the cabins, hearing an announcement and music before he had to be worried about everyone spilling out and seeing him and running him off, that was something Silas enjoyed.
Silas was drawn to the camp, and was drawn specifically to the radio hut. Because Silas is drawn to places that bring him comfort.
Had the other werewolves been locked up, Silas probably wouldn’t have hurt anyone. There’s genuinely no reason to believe he would have attacked the counselors even if he was nearby.
But Silas wandered into a feeding frenzy. It wasn’t enough for him to kill, not yet, not until later in the night. But it influenced his normally passive behavior.
Silas found a tiny bit of solace in his life, after all this time, and once again the Hackett children unknowingly ripped it away and ruined him.
(tiny extra point that I couldn’t really fit anywhere else, he doesn’t hurt Ryan but he bites Dylan. The difference? Dylan is in the hut when he’s attacked. Silas was protective of the building. before he fully gives into the bloodlust that night, he only gets really violent towards people inside the hut vs. outside of it. He doesn’t even go for Kaitlyn and the rest that seriously, let’s be real)

AND HERE I AM AGAIN. I ALWAYS COME BACK! Okay so I may be reaching here but-
So before we start this TW for mentions of  Garte and of emotional child abuse and child expirementation and possession and slight Ivy neg? okay now we have that cleared let’s go-
Okay so on the topic of mystreet and dairies Garroth, let’s talk about The depersonalisation or dehumanisation of Garroth.
And on top of that, I noticed a trend of the better people know Garroth the more distant more people seem to get from him.
They also refer to them in code names[those being numbers]  making it more dehumanising, in a scene in starlight you see a photo of Garroth as a toddler with 01 under it, katelyn being 02 and Travis 03. This hints he was the first to get experimented on.  that's irrelevant really but I just wanted to mention it because it makes Garte look even worse.
A lack of an personal identity. this is soo interesting with it being implies Elizabeth made the Ro'meave's forget about Garte in the mystreet season 6 finale. That's an identity crisis waiting to happened.
He also turns his own feelings into jokes in a way. Making his fear of Ivy and her blackmailing him to be with her in pdh season 2 aswell as constantly making him uncomfortable and just making it all about her getting his name wrong. As if he doesn't recognise his own feelings so he searches for a superficial reason to explain the feelings he is feeling. And how he after that forces himself to get over it without a real apology for it from Ivy, I think? I only remember her apologising to Aphmau and explaining her lisp to Garroth. And we have in the good cop bad cop sidestory thing where in a conversation it was revealed his bad cop joke was actually backed up by him actually distrusting Gene. But after a conversation with Laurance he gets Gene a house a few episodes later. He undervalues his own feelings in a way. Like how Garte undervalues Garroth's reluctance to inheret the company and still makes him do so.
AUGHHHHHHHH THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD THANK YOU ANON i am furiously writing this all down to use in my rewrite i love this so so much

Some thoughts on Friday the 13th 2009
Guess that title will do or so. I was joking with @lovezdarestevez4ever about something and got distracted from not making this. This isn’t really a review. But some points from me on how I feel about the film.
I don’t really hate the 2009 reimagining of the series. And that’s due to a couple of reasons.
1. It’s literally the same as the earlier films. Compared to something like Halloween 2007 or Elm Street 2010, I don’t know. It’s more like the fact it feels like it’s part of the same series despite some things that separate it. It almost feels like a “Legacy” sequel but it’s not.
It’s technically akin to something like Batman 1989 where the origin isn’t a full focal point. But it strangely leads into something. Weird comparison, it’s more like, “Let’s kind of skip the origin and just show it really quick” kind of shit.
2. The idea to use elements from the first four films is actually a fucking genius idea. Because you’re practically blending in what are basically considered possibly the best films or so and combine into one story without having to make more than one film.
Even though I genuinely wouldn’t mind a legitimate remake of the first film. But I keep thinking general audiences just want to see Jason.
3. The portrayal of Jason is still my favorite of all the actors. Even though I like them all. But Derek Mears is the kind of Jason I love. And honestly, I see this as a Jason film mainly because of the number of times he shows up.
4. Trent’s entire character. This may sound strange, but holy crap. Even though he’s not a favorite of mine. But he’s such a cartoonish douchebag that it downright amuses me with his fucking dialogue being so insane. That you’re in shock with how fucking douchey he is because Travis Van Winkle plays him so well. He’s strangely meme material.
WeWatchedAMovie’s review of the film where they talk about Trent, they explain it perfectly in the most humorous way. And there’s a scene and from that review, I hear that Michael Bay himself walked out halfway through the movie because there was...too many tities. I question this, like, did he actually say that somewhere?
5. I will admit, I actually like the score from Steve Jablonsky. Even if I still prefer Harry Manfredini’s scores.

Now on to the more negative stuff that...brings the film down.
1. The fact it’s the same as the earlier films...it’s kind of nothing special. Yet it’s special in a way where I don’t feel bothered by it like Halloween 2007 or Elm Street 2010. But the fact it’s kind of...somewhat nothing special brings it down. And this goes into the next thing I want to talk about.
2. The idea to use elements from the first four films is still genius. But the way the writers did it just wasn’t for me. The best way I could describe the film is how my good buddy @lovezdarestevez4ever said in her review of the film.
The film is practically a “CliffNotes” version of Friday the 13th from writers who watched the older films without paying attention to why certain elements worked. And honestly, considering I have a little problem with the writers...I agree. This is her review right here. https://at.tumblr.com/lovezdarestevez4ever/i-watched-friday-the-13th-2009-and-it-was/opxnm29hwwis
Because to me, the elements don’t blend naturally. Or they don’t use these elements in a more meaningful way. You know how like in comic book films they take elements from different stories and try to blend them in the best story possible to adapt? It’s a weird comparison. It’s just I think if Filmento ever did a video on Friday the 13th 2009, and I have thought about this before. He would point out stuff that feels like it wasn’t thought more about or whatever.
I again, think blending in those elements is a cool idea because in a strange way. I could see the first three films as a 277-minute-long film. I actually used my computer’s calculator to look that shit up. Yet this likely counts the beginning and end credits for all three films.
The point being is that considering this was directed by the guy who directed the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. I feel like they could’ve done more with those elements and did something new with them or build upon them. I strangely wished that the write for that remake came back for this instead of the writers from Freddy vs Jason. But that depends on what Scott Kosar would’ve done, or maybe another writer.
I do appreciate the decision to go back to the “Grittier” route of the earlier FT13th films. That was something needed after the last few films.
3. And the characters, and listen, I get a lot of FT13th characters aren’t much to write home about. But I agree with my friend that they are more like...parodies in a sense. Where in the originals, the characters seem more casual despite a lot being service level. And while I think Clay is one of the better protagonists of the series, the other characters are hit and miss. Despite a lot of them get a lot of brutal kills as usual.
There’s also the fact the storyline with Jason and Whitney couldn’t been dealt with so much better. Because that is something I REALLY like, but it’s not built upon more or something.
I should just finish the post. The 2009 reboot is basically a modernized version of part 3, but without the 3D. And you get elements from parts 1, 2, and 4. It seems weird that I use part 3 as an example. Mainly because part 3 feels like the most “Random” or “Disconnected” because NO ONE besides Chris knows of Jason in that film. And they never say his name.
