The Lord, Your Shepherd is Near
Tumblr media
A psalm of David
💜 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever. ~Psalm 23:1-6 ✝️
Today's psalm, perhaps the most famous in the scriptures, reminds us how much God cares for us. Especially during times of vulnerability and when we are experiencing times in the valley. God watches over us, like a faithful shepherd looks after his sheep.
In every season, Jesus, your shepherd, is with you. Yes, He is a Savior that fights for you, but He is also a shepherd who cares for you. As He lays you down in green pastures, and puts you beside still waters - He promises to be with you. Down in the valley and up on the mountain top, He is with you.
In the waiting room, in the dental chair. At the cemetery and in the delivery room - God promises to never leave you nor forsake you.
As we truly absorb this truth in our hearts, as we understand who He is and who we have available to us, we can be assured that we will lack nothing, and in Him, we have gained absolutely everything we need.
Why? Because you lack nothing whenbyou have a good shepherd by your side.
Your good shepherd guides, provides, corrects and protects. Refuse to follow the imposter shepherds of certainty, independence and pride. Instead, follow the good shepherd who will lead you to have an open mind, open hands and an open heart before Him.

Officially 31!! I can certainly say my life is a mess but I am truly blessed. Life has an interesting style of showing you how to truly appreciate what is genuine. Even in the midst of all concerns and doubts, I know my identity, my true self, and purpose.
If you don’t understand what your purpose is, you will wander and lose focus on what is really important. So, pay attention and be wise, and understand your purpose in life, nothing is coincidental, everything happens for a reason. Embrace the good and bad and learn from that.
Forgive. Let go. Grow.
God bless you my friend. 💜

The prophet Isaiah wrote about the abandonment of fidelity to the law of Moses by the Israelites to explain in this way the crisis in which the chosen people lived, and particularly the kingdoms of Judah and Israel. The prophet lived in difficult times, he prophesied first the fall of Samaria at the hands of Assyria, and then the destruction of Jerusalem. Corruption and oppression had taken control in all social classes of both kingdoms and destruction was near. God raised Isaiah as a spiritual sentinel to instill in the people the correct path of life, to prosper and have peace, that is why in one of his oracles he explained the importance of the faithfulness to God: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins. For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God" Isaiah 58:1-2 Religion, the prophet continued, should not be a pretext for doing business and seeking wealth illicitly, this is what God does not want. The prophet recalled the importance of that wisdom that is born from the fear of God together with the fulfillment of the law, that is why the prophet emphasized, among other things, the fulfillment of the commandment about the Sabbath, as Moses taught when he gave the law. Those who abandon the law for the love of money are destined to fail, instead, those who follow the law with fear (constancy, firmness) are blessed, that is why the prophet stated: "Keep the Sabbath day holy. Don't pursue your own interests on that day, but enjoy the Sabbath and speak of it with delight as the LORD's holy day. Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day, and don't follow your own desires or talk idly. Then the LORD will be your delight. I will give you great honor and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestors Jacob. I, the LORD, have spoken!" Isaiah 58:13-14.

The Origin of Sin
Tumblr media
We've been exploring the relevance of the book of Genesis to our faith. Origins are significant.
Until now, we have seen everything that God has made was very good. (Genesis 1:31)
But today, we'll be exploring why the earth is not a harmonious utopia. As we remember our ancient passage, sin was not part of the original creation, nor was it decreed by the Creator’s will.
A serpent arrives in paradise, twisting God's words. Adam and Eve's decision to ignore God's instruction and desiring to become like God, had chaotic consequences. Their transgression spiraled mankind into sin, but guess what, this was not sin’s origin.
Ezekiel 28:13-15 speaks figuratively of Satan, who was originally created without flaw, as all things created by God was very good. Verse 15 gives us a hint to the origin of sin: “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.” Isaiah 14:12-14 further indicates that Satan (Lucifer) sinned in his pride and his coveting of God’s throne. When he rebelled against God, Satan was ejected from heaven (Ezekiel 28:15-17; 1 Timothy 3:6).
Which brings us to the question, how did evil manifest itself in a perfect creature? It may be good to mention that evil is not a created thing—it is not a creature and has no independent being.
Evil has no standard as goodness does; it is a lack, a deficiency, a falling short of the standard of God’s perfect goodness. All sin, no matter how trivial it may seem, falls short of moral perfection. God is always consistent with His perfect nature (Deuteronomy 32:4).
All sin, therefore, must come from the creature, and the desire for evil comes from within the creature (James 1:14-15). Sin was “found” in Lucifer because of a choice that angel made to seek something other than what God had chosen for him. Any time we seek “other” than God’s choice, we sin.
To say sin originated within God’s creatures does not mean God was surprised or caught unaware by it. Even though, God did not bring about sin, but He certainly allowed it or it would not exist. God is sovereign over all things.
It’s true that God could have prevented sin, but that would have meant stripping His creation of its free will (Daniel 4:17; Psalm 33:10-11). All His ways are good. In Him is “no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5), and He is right now working all things for His good pleasure (Romans 8:28; Isaiah 46:9-10).
The mystery of evil and why God has allowed its reality with all of the suffering it causes may never be fully known in this world, but Scripture assures that evil is temporary. Once the culmination of God’s redemptive plan is complete, Jesus Christ will have destroyed the devil’s work forever (1 John 3:8).
Sin is the core destructive issue that tears apart our lives and relationships, hurting ourselves and others. We have all done it. We have all rebelled against God's Word, but it is through His intervention that He sent us a Savior, His Son. In Jesus Christ, salvation and reconciliation were won at the cross.
Today let God's correction, love and mercy push you back towards His sacrificial love for you. With Jesus, sin has ultimately been defeated! We are redeemed!

The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, There is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, And seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: There is none that doeth good, no, not one. Psalm 14:1‭-‬3 KJV as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; There is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; With their tongues they have used deceit; The poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
