foaming at the mouth rolling in the ashes putting on sackcloth because marvel dared to touch the absolute force of nature that is god of stories Loki and they completely misrepresented what he stands for and now when I search that glorious tag I have to look into hundreds of posts featuring the wretched hollow shell of the MCU Loki with his wretched dorky helmet and his "Oh I was once a narcissist who used to want a throne but now I love people and I don't like thrones at all, what an arc" even though he never ever wanted a throne and he always loved people what is going on
I think what really gets to me is that this god of stories role is presented as a shackle to MCU Loki
He is trapped now, he is alone, he's tied down by the narrative. Being a storyteller keeps him isolated and sad.
While in the comics, becoming the god of stories means breaking free, finding hope, being an icon of trying new things and traveling the universe. Being a storyteller allows Loki to become his true self and reconcile with himself and the people he loves. It's a visceral moment of coming home.
Loki in the comics addresses that "maybe who we are is really just a trap, one we'd be free of if we didn't cling so damn tightly to the bars"
Becoming a neutral storyteller breaks these bars and gets the Schrodinger's cat out of the box
But it's the opposite in the show
I don't think? They're trying to be cruel to the comics? But why are they slapping my favorite comic character's title onto this man even though what they are is completely different? And their arcs are completely different? And why then are show fans posting things such as:
Guuuys didn't you know this is from the comics? Loki is like the comics now :D He's finally completed a full arc and become the god of stories like in Agent of Asgard :DD
Like no, Janet, I'm sorry, but he's just not. MCU Loki has never been close to comic Loki, and to rip titles out of the comics and stuff them into the show and bait comic fans by saying "Hey guys you know what this is and you liked it there, so like it here" but it's not anything like that
That's not how this works
Don't get me started on Verity Willis either

Ok but wait the reason Lokis are so interested in theatre & Shakespeare & literature etc (fiction in general) is because their prime variant is the God of Stories 😭

Hello. I hope you don't mind I use your askbox to vent, but poeple calling MCU Loki "God of Stories" is really pissing me off. His official title is God Loki and mistagging him only clogs the tag for actual God(dess) of Stories Loki from the comics.
I don't know if poeple mistag because they think it's going to give them more engagement (hello, this is Tumblr, not Twitter or Instagram), but this practice is both extremely annoying and counterproductive. Poeple who use the Enchantricks tags don't want to see Loki/Sylvie content, and Loki/Sylvie shippers have their own tags so mistagging is absolutely useless and only brings negative engagement. Same goes for every characters who get mistagged. Sylvie fans don't call her "Lady Loki", I don't think a single B-15 fan is going to call her Verity in the long term (we all have our HC names for her anyways ^^), etc...
I really wish poeple understood that. I've only seen anti-series fans complain about that, but as a fan of both the series and the comics, when I go to the God of the Stories time, it's to look at pictures of AoA Loki. Mistagging is just like putting a mess on the library shelves, it is lazy and serves no other purpose than annoy the next user.
yes, holy shit, i hate it. i'm genuinely leaving the fandom over this, ditching this blog and making a new one and everything. the only thing that stuff like this does is demoralize people.
our discord server is trying our best to implement a new comic loki tagging system because of this crosstagging problem. not a lot of people are using it yet, but these are the tags we're trying to get people to use in addition to normal comic book tags (it would help a TON if people went back and added these to their old 616)
#the echo of a scream — kid loki (comics only)
#moon queen and magic theatre — god(dess) of stories loki (comics only)
#the magpie who whispers — ikol/agent loki (comics only)
#human lie detector. the best and only friend — verity willis (comics only)

I need someone to tell the god of stories Loki that he's never going to be a hero and for the god of stories to laugh in their face because it's so funny that they think he thinks he's a hero.I think that's the only way the illiterate crowd would get it.

So beyonder is becoming relevant again. I wonder if Loki is gonna become part of this since you know? this is probably taking place after defenders beyond👀 (I don't really have high hopes for it happening but let a bitch dream a little lmao)
Tumblr media
I really wish the ending of defender beyond isn't getting ignored at least for a while because come fucking on marvel

asgardians are gods. loki isn't an asgardian. gods are given power by the legends surrounding them. every tale of lightning makes thor grow in strenght. songs were sung of the second prince since his intoduction to asgard. the truth behind the god and goddess of stories is this. raised and taught by a women raised by witches the magic of a boy grows beyond what it should. grows beyond imagination. loki isn't asgardian. loki wasn't born holy. but tales have power. and a lie by odin allfather is believed by many.

Loki, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor, & The Avengers Fanfiction
Free from the Chains of Time by AnyFangirl98
Loki had sacrificed his own freedom to give all free will. No one is any longer bound by time to forced to give up their life. Loki, however, is imprisoned for their own freedom. Having taken the role of both he who remains and the Temporal Loom Loki was stuck forever. Unless their was another way to weave an infinite amount of time.
If only there was something more stable then that horrid piece of scrap metal that was limited by science.
Wait a minute.....
Or Loki finds a way to be free of his imprisonment yet still give all free will.

Loki’s not Altez, he’s the God of Stories.
For all of the people arguing that Loki isn’t actually the god of stories and that he’s more similar to Altez, the multiversal custodian who holds everything together and looks over existence from the outside in the comics….. Loki creating Yggdrasil/taking the throne isn’t what made him GOS. He became GOS at the end of episode 5 and the reasoning is actually based on mcu time travel rules.
In the mcu, anytime someone goes back and changes anything in the past, it doesn’t actually affect that timeline- instead, it creates a new branched reality. The only reason the avengers were able to circumvent this in endgame was because He Who Remains wrote their tampering into the sacred timeline, so it was always supposed to happen. This is true even after the multiverse is set free- in fact, that’s what the multiverse is (a bunch of different choices all spawning new realities that creates an infinitely expanding tree of possibilities).
Loki is the only exception to this. He can timeslip back and alter events on a specific timeline and actually change the future of that universe, without creating a branch reality. He did this when he was gathering his friends in 2x5, when he was trying to save the loom, and when he tried to fix things at the citadel. He doesn’t just create new timelines, he can actually rewrite timelines. In other words, he can rewrite stories.

im fuckin dying im in pain im suffering (tried searching loki god of stories playlists on spotify and its all tv show stuff and One was a very nsfw title)
i'm very sorry that your interest in the comic book version of him started right when the second season started using names and titles from 616 loki stuff /gen
all of the cross tagging and etc has made it incredibly difficult to find 616 stuff for the past few days
these are songs that remind me of them, not songs i'd think they’d listen to, but here's some of the songs on my 616 playlists:
Tumblr media
i don't have spotify but i hope this helps make it shareable anyway. feel free to repost this to pinterest or woteva
