Loki Matters a Lot to Me *Long Post*
If you go on my page you’ll see that I’ve never posted about the Loki show or Lokius before so you might be wondering why now that the show is (probably) over? I always liked this show, and I considered myself a fan but coming out of it I wasn’t shipping anyone.
Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the dynamic Loki and Mobius had but I was just happy to have Loki alive so I savored that. Also I sensed some history with Mobius and Ravonna which I still think exists. I found all of the characters interesting. That includes this season but something about season 2 was different for me and I couldn’t figure out why.
Why did this show affect me so much? Why did this second season affect me so much? And particularly why did this ship, Lokius, affect me so much?
To understand where I'm coming from you should probably understand that first of all I am queer and even before I knew I was queer I had a want for queer representation. For me oddly enough it started with Owen Wilson in Night at the Museum. Jedtavius was a pairing I didn't even realized I shipped til I was older. The enemies to lovers thing was so cute and it pretty much got confirmed in the last movie.
Tumblr media
(Just inconspicuously having your cowboy character quote Brokeback Mountain no big deal.)
I enjoy a good ship. As I got older however I began to crave real queer representation and I was lucky enough to find it in places like Steven Universe
Tumblr media
And Adventure TIme
Tumblr media
Then as I reached my mid to late teens I was able to see films like Brokeback, But I'm a Cheerleader, First Girl I Loved, The Miseducation of Cameron Post etc. Seeing these made me feel more secure in my sexuality.
Tumblr media
Of course along the way I got dragged into non canon ships some of which were queerbait like Stucky or even worse, Stormpilot/Finnpoe.
Tumblr media
The malicious part about all of these ships is the teams behind them waving these pairings out in front of people like a dog with a bone, hoping to draw them in to get their money knowing they had no intention of following through.
And I have become disillusioned with that. I have also become annoyed with fans of straight ships that oppose those queer ships acting like we're reaching.
I bring this up because there is a certain segment of sylkis(not all) and on a broader scale fans of straight ships that have this sense of persecution because fans of a queer pairing don't like their ship. It's weird and I am tempted to say it stems from homophobia. If you simply don't enjoy a ship that's fine. There are queer ships I despise, but try and assess where that hatred comes from.
There is a language that conveys romance and it seems like only when there is a minority involved do you guys become unable to understand it. This is an issue within most fandoms when it comes to not only sexuality but race in popular ships. For example, The Bear fandom in regards to Chef's Kiss, but I digress.
When a character feels the need to constantly touch another character that signals something, when a character fixes themselves so they look nice before they see another character that signals something. The way they talk, the way they act, how they are with and without one another says A LOT.
Tumblr media
So why is it when we point these things out we get called delusional? Why do I feel like I'm going crazy every time I speak with someone about a queer ship? And why do I always feel the need to justify it?
Straight, white, pairings never have to justify their existence. They just are. Sylvie and Loki can fight, yell at one another, hurt one another, literally be the same fucking person and people will find that ok, but suddenly when people see Loki fixing himself before he meets Mobius we can't see love in that(you’re telling me this isn’t how someone acts when they see their crush unexpectedly)? We can't see loss in Mobius when he can't even do his job anymore now that Loki is gone? We can't grieve what could have been even if we find Loki as the God of Stories cool?
Why?
Mobius is the first person in probably thousands of years to tell Loki he’s not evil and he can be good if he chooses to be. We see how much this means to him. From this point on Loki is attached to Mobius like a puppy. Mobius becomes his person. I find something so refreshing about Mobius calling Loki out but then also offering him a path to redemption. He doesn’t let Loki slide, because he cares about him enough to know he can be better and Loki deserves to be better for himself.
So I was bothered by the way the finale was set up. I know they have the conversation about “the burden of glorious purpose” and often I am honestly a supporter of not everyone gets a happy ending even if they “deserve” it in a storytelling sense. I find the tragedy in that intriguing, but this didn’t feel good to me on a personal level. I didn’t walk away from the finale feeling sad but fulfilled, I walked away from it feeling miserable and empty. And I recognize that I attach myself to characters more than the general populace but I don’t really care? This hurt.
Loki wanted nothing more than for somebody to be there with him, to be for him, to love him and instead he ends up alone. Mobius ends up back in his timeline but he can't go back to his life. A version of him is already there and our Mobius doesn't even remember his children. Mobius doesn't smile at the end because he isn't happy. He's alone. They are alone and realistically there's a high chance these versions of them will never see each other again.
Tumblr media
Does Sylvie seem bothered by that? No. She's ready to go live her life. And there’s nothing wrong with that, she took the gift Loki gave to her but Mobius is clearly, deeply hurt by Loki being gone. Because they found purpose in each other. In the order and chaos.
Having watched Good Omens and Our Flag Means Death season 2(along with the movie Bottoms starring Ayo Edebiri which everyone should watch 😁) in the same year I have become quite used to seeing queer rep in my mainstream shows. As the years have passed more and more queer characters are able to take center stage. So even though I knew Disney's track record I still held out hope because even the writer and composer saw the potential in Lokius.
Tom and Owen did too somewhat, but at the end of the day actors don't write the shows.
I think what bothers me most is that Loki is the first queer character in the MCU, we've seen him struggle and grow and learn to love and finally last season his queerness was made explicit (more than in Thor Ragnarok where he like fucked the Grandmaster or something). And they immediately paired him off with a version of himself.
Loki isn't gay so I'm not saying he had to end up with a man or anything you can be queer and end up with someone who is a gender different than yours my issue is a broader one which is, this story wasn't made to validate bi/pan people who date the opposite sex or whatever it was made to close Loki off to any other possibilities. One of those being Mobius.
Tumblr media
Rewatching season 1 this decision is exacerbated because there are moments where they could have had him flirt with a man like when he was D.B. Cooper and boom we have on screen rep, but they decided “nah let’s just have him say it one time and then never acknowledge it again.” Again I want to reiterate, you can be queer and not be in a same gender relationship, but this is a television character. We don’t know their innermost thoughts like we’re reading a book we have to take them at their actions and we never got the opportunity for our first queer character to express that(at least in his own show because remember the grandmaster, but somehow that feels worse).
The executive producer recently came out and said Loki and Mobius were always meant to be platonic because they were trying to dismantle toxic masculinity by portraying “platonic male friendships”. A phrase I have grown to hate over the years because ALL WE EVER SEE ARE PLATONIC MALE FRIENDSHIPS. This is another parallel with issues I have with The Bear in which the cast and crew were like “why can’t women and men just be friends?” but only in reference to the black girl. Back to the topic at hand though.
Have you ever met a queer person who acknowledges they’re queer once and then never talks about it again? Especially someone with as much showmanship as Loki? Does that make sense to anybody? Even if he ultimately ended up with Sylvie(which I wouldn’t have liked but I digress) that would have been enough for me.
But instead we had this troubled character give up everything and everyone they love to sit on a throne they didn’t even want so that their friends could have a choice. So that they could have a life. And again I can find beauty in that, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. And I won’t pretend I do.

Im like. Amazed that none of the Liking Izzy Is Racist crowd seem to grok that in this case most people either want to explore fucked up dynamics or domesticate him (which are both things that can read as racist FAST if you do them to a non-white character)?? What other character can you even do this with in ofmd?? Buttons?? There's a reason so much of the pwp either involves Izzy, who you can do nearly anything to without tripping over racist tropes, or Stede and Ed (which leans less kinky and is also the most popular ship by FAR).
Also if there's no compelling ship fandom people tend to not make fanworks and meta for the characters, and established couples get shafted bc why write getting together fic when you have canon? Fandom loves getting (back)together fics. Lucius and Pete are cute on the show but there's like 0 conflict there to dig into and they dont have kinky vibes. Same for Oluwande and Jim, they're already together and there's no big interpersonal disaster that needs fixing there like with Stede and Ed or literally any Izzy pairing (Izzy is a walking conflict and the "getting together" is a whole plot).
like, they love to compare him to kyle ron? because reylo's victory completely broke their brains forever and it is actually very funny. but, if we're using the complete clusterfuck of star wars fandom that they're trying to recreate, izzy is the hux.
I'm confident that they won't succeed, but I see what they're trying to do. they're trying to stormpilot blackbonnet. you can only write fanfiction of them chastely holding hands. if ed tops, why are you racist and seeing the moc as aggressive and dominant? if ed bottoms, why are you racist, letting this white man uphold the colonial order? and that's just if you write vanilla! if you write kink? oh, you're the worst. you are a demon made flesh and you are going to hell. that's why stormpilot floundered while kylux thrived. you could do whatever you wanted to hux's hole, and you only had to deal with grumblings instead of active attacks.
like, we're lucky. us freaks got our claws in first. there's plenty of good blackbonnet shit, running the gamut from cute and fluffy to fucked up kink. we don't need izzy to be the hux. I mean, we're absolutely still gonna destroy that hole. but we have options. and by god I will see it's kept that way.
also while I love jim's position at the end of the season we'd be in such a better place fanfic wise if they hadn't shown back up, but that's a different topic.

20 Questions for Writers
tagged by: @dilf-in-peril
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
13 plus a fourteenth that's part of an exchange and hasn't been revealed yet.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
25,112
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now it's all wrestling.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Despite the Snow, Despite the Falling Snow — American Gods (TV); Mad Sweeney/Shadow Moon
Like it Rough — Our Flag Means Death (TV); Israel Hands/Lucius Spriggs (this one isn't very good and I thought I had deleted it until I checked to make this post. only lands here because it's a big fandom i guess)
Poison on Our Lips — Saw (Movies); Adam Faulkner-Stanheight/Lawrence Gordon (this one's been getting a bit extra traffic now with the Saw fandom resurging)
The Lies We Tell Ourselves — Insidious (Movies); Specs/Tucker (this was never finished. it's also been getting some spillover attention from leigh whannell fans)
In the Dead of Night — The Terror (TV 2018); George Henry Hodgson/John Irving
(my most popular wrestling fic, my collected kinktober fills from last year, just barely misses this list)
5. Do you respond to comments?
I should. I try to. I used to. I rarely do.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
eh I usually don't write super angsty endings. I guess the Specs/Tucker one is pretty dreary since I abandoned it at a little cliffhanger.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
excluding orgasms, Despite the Snow, Despite the Falling Snow is my only genuine angst with a happy ending. and it's a pretty cute get-together.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, my fics aren't popular or controversial enough for that
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yep. Usually kinky stuff, and often stuff I myself find sort of weird. Gotta exorcise it i guess.
Funny enough, I used to write a fair bit of smut as a teen, deleted it all and spent years not writing any, and then it's been naught but smut since 2021.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
no, I don't enjoy reading them either.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I'm pretty certain Despite the Snow, etc. was translated into Chinese back when I first posted it but ao3 doesn't show any related works. Maybe it got deleted?
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I'm pretty fickle so I usually just stick to my favs in my current fandom. Right now it's CMJF with Joepunk contesting it for #1. My Stormpilot shipping would rear back up with every new Star Wars release so it was probably my longest-lasting ship.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My Punk/AJ/Ace Steel fill for kinktober was supposed to be part of a longer fic that never got farther into than the very beginning and that extract I posted.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel like I'm pretty good at showing characters' feelings through action, without much internal monologue. I've been told I balance comedy and smut well which. I don't consider myself a funny person but I do like to lean into the absurdist premises of porn i guess
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Visual description. Partially because I'm bad at it, partially because I think it adds too much fluff and avoid it. Problem is I have a very visual imagination so fics that feel super detailed in my mind end up being 200 words long with no plot, because it's all just mise-en-scène that I can't get on the page.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've never really done it but I tend to enjoy when it's there. It may be cheesy but I love a good pet name in the character's native language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I dabbled a bit in Phantom of the Opera fic, but really got going in the Hannibal fandom.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
around 2017 I was really trying to make my fics feel ~atmospheric~ and I feel like I achieved that best in Despite the Snow, etc., even if it's partially adapting a scene from the book that never made it to the show (that I know of, I didn't watch past s1). I feel like I'm still plopping around awkwardly in wrestling fic so I really couldn't pick a favourite.

Favorite LGBTQIA+ ship:
Honestly.... I don't have one. I really like Lumity from Owl House, I love Stucky, Stony, Thruce, and Clintasha(I headcanon Nat is ace) from Marvel, and because I've been jumping back into Star Wars, Codywan, Skysolo, Dinluke, Stormpilot, Kalluzeb, and whatever the heck Ahsoka has going on with her lesbian ass.
Also, if anyone has cute polyam ships from those respective Fandom, can yall share? Pretty please? I know Barbershop quartet, but like, I want others? Please?

Snippet (soft bois)
Sooo, I don’t know when I’ll get to update You Look So Alive, bc life is a mess, but I just brainstormed this little scene of chapter 7 for @imtheoutgoingsidekick-baby and couldn’t keep the soft bois gentleness from the rest of you, so here you go!
"You’re not stupid for being scared, Finn. It's a huge step, to take what you want. Even when it's freely given. I get that, don't be too hard on yourself. You’re amazing, funny, strong. You're gonna be just fine and one day, you'll have all the things you want," Poe said with a lopsided smile. Lopsided, because they were still lying on the floor of Finn's room, exceptionally more comfortable now that Poe had brought pillows and blankets from the bed for them to lie on.
"That's easy to say," Finn mumbled, but he knew Poe already knew that. And he knew Poe was right.
"It is, yeah. But it remains true. I wish I could help you take what you want, but I'm afraid I can't do that, because then that would just be active giving, not active taking."
Finn smiled at him and shook his head as much as possible. "You're too smart, Poe, get out of here. This is not a smart place today."
"Everywhere you are is a smart place, Finn," Poe said quietly, and when Finn met his eyes again, there was something intense in them. Something scary. But also something that...
"Can I try something?" he asked, his heartbeat picking up.
"Sure," Poe said without missing a beat, without moving, without even blinking. He was waiting for Finn to make his move, patient as ever, and Finn was really grateful that Poe was here with him.
Slowly, ever so slowly, he moved his hand toward the other boy, lifting it slightly. Poe's eyes didn't leave his, he trusted Finn enough, apparently, to not try and see where his hand would go. Finn, however, had to look at his fingers, look at the proof of how he was taking what he wanted, a small, insignificant movement, but he has been meaning to do it since forever.
Gently, tenderly, he ran his fingers across Poe's forehead and pushed a few stray curls back from where they had fallen into his eyes. Poe's skin was soft, his hair was glowing in the evening sun shining through his window, and he was radiating heat like crazy.
Mesmerised, Finn followed his fingers until they disappeared into Poe's hair. It was only when Poe's breath hitched slightly that he realised what he was doing. And that it was weird and inappropriate and he pulled his hand back immediately, afraid to meet Poe's eyes and see the confusion or even disgust in them, but-
Poe was still looking at him with that intense look, but now there was that small, secret smile on his lips. "Was that something you wanted to do?"
"Yeah," he admitted, wanting to look away but his eyes were glued to Poe's.
"How did it feel?"
"Good," he breathed.
Poe nodded slightly. "Yeah," he whispered. "Good."

Okay, saw some storm pilot art and it reminded me I drew this as a warm up am few weeks ago and I just wanted to share. There was some concept art of Finn with this bad ass jacket floating around and I just couldn’t resist making it a sweet moment between my 2 favorite rebel bois. Oh my god, I love them so much 😭
Like, can you just imagine Finn walking through some market place and seeing this jacket and just being like, “Well, he did give me his… does he like orange? He’s a pilot, he has to like orange.”
Stormpilot is cannon, no one will convince me otherwise.
Here’s the original concept of y’all are curious! I think I’m gonna make a Jedi Finn next… my guy deserves more love.

I’ve been reflecting a lot on Cas’ recent confession of love and the responses I’ve been seeing across tumblr and Twitter. As a Destiel fic writer, I am thrilled to see this become canon and as a queer woman, also really touched to see how much Misha has embraced this as a really significant thing. I already ordered my Only Love merch. So I’m content with it all as much as it is. SPN has never made queer representation its issue. SPN *has* responded to its fanbase, who have both pushed the importance of representation and also brought the actors into a realm of growth over queer issues that they may never have come to without this show and this fandom. For that reason, I don’t think it’s helpful to be mad at Jensen or the Showrunners for Destiel not being perfect. You don’t have to celebrate them as allies, but the anger and vitriol just doesn’t help, in my opinion.
BUT...where my thoughts have been going is around what it means to be an actor in a ‘ship and what the impact of the story has on the actors, the fandom, and the constant dance of who controls the story because I think this has been something that even with straight characters has had serious impacts on how fans feel about an ending.
My first fandom, Starsky & Hutch, was mostly written by a gay man who wrote “straight” characters because that was what they had to be in 1974. The characters and show plots were such that the actors felt the love underneath the words and acted accordingly. Back then, it wasn’t so much queer baiting as queer coding. I find it amazing that my parents never thought for a minute Starsky and Hutch were gay, but even as a 7 year old, I knew they were in love and saw them that way. And anyone who watches the show now, it’s so clear that it’s almost laughable. When their show won the Peopel’s Choice award in 1977, David Soul said in his acceptance speech that the best part of being on this show was that people saw two men who “could be anything”. He knew that queer folk read their characters as gay and that straight folks saw them as straight and he was happy for both to be true. While the show never had an explicitly romantic declaration, the characters held hands, hugged, and in the final episode, their final scene is Hutch crawling into Starsky’s hospital bed with him, something done with amusement, but was completely coded to mean something else. It was never “canon”, but the ‘ship has lasted 46 years with new fic being written even now.
In the new SW films, actor Oscar Isaac was not at all quiet about his feelings that his character, Poe Dameron, was in love with Finn. He stated he played him that way (and was not directed otherwise) and he even explicitly asked for that ship to be made canon. He was told no and that is not how the story ended. The romance plot was instead focused on two other characters. Some fans liked that. Many didn’t. In general, though, the story is open-ended enough that shippers could have Stormpilot be their ship and there is nothing that really contradicts that. In that scenario, Oscar had his sense of who this character was and felt strongly about that, but in the end, it wasn’t his story, so the ending was what it was.
Hawai’i Five-0 ended its 10 year run last spring. Actor Scott Caan said in an interview during the show’s 5-year mark that he wanted to see his charcter have a romantic story line with his other lead, Steve McGarrett. And while Scott did not go so far as Oscar Isaac did to say he made his acting choices based on that, watching him and Alex play their characters, there was definitely some intention to show their characters as loving one another. Actor Alex O’Loughlin voiced a few times over the years that he felt his character would not get back together with Catherine, a woman his character was on-again, off-again with, because he felt Steve had reached his limit with what Catherine had done to him. The series made a decision to end with Steve leaving Hawai’i behind and flying away with Catherine. Neither actor has commented much about the show’s ending, but clearly it went against what both actors had publicly expressed in the past. Again, they don’t control the story, but they do understand their characters after playing them for so many years and they are invested in that. In that sense, the actor’s subsequent silence about how the show ended says quite a bit. And McDanno fans were very unsatisfied with the show’s ending, myself included.
So we come to Destiel. Over the years, this ship has been very controversial in part because one actor (Misha) has clearly been OK with his character being perceived as being in love with Dean, while the other actor (Jensen) has not. At times he has been very negative about it, and that has been taken by some fans to imply how Jensen feels about homosexuality in general. I’m not convinced it does, but I understand why people feel that way. Over the 12 years since Cas’ introduction on the show, there clearly has been a shift from the writers and showrunners avoiding the topic entirely, to talking about it, and now to having Cas confess his feelings of love to Dean in canon. In the days since, Misha has been unequivocal in saying Cas is romantically in love with Dean and that he has played him that way, at least for this season and likely longer. Misha is proud that he was able to advocate for Cas to be gay and he clearly understands why it is important for the show to have made this choice. For Jensen’s part, however, he has stated he has not played Dean that way and from video clips of him talking about the show’s ending, it appears that he needed some convincing to accept this as the story. To his credit though, once he was convinced that this was something show creator (Eric Kripke) could envision as part of Dean’s character arc, he was on-board with this ending and feels statisfied with it. And I think some of the frustration folks feel stems from both in how the actors portrayed their characters and in which takes were chosen to be in the final cuts of episodes. In that way, the show has fed this ship, whether the actors realized it or not, and that is why Destiel has felt particularly painful at times. The fanbase has been gaslighted for seeing it at all (from actors and showrunners) while the directors have seemed to go out of their way to choose shots where the actor’s choices were more tender and affectionate and write lines where characters make explicit statements about Dean and Cas as romantic. I can’t help but wonder if Jensen really didn’t see Dean as being in love with Cas, but that we saw Jensen’s own affinity for Misha bleed through in their incredible chemsitry together or if Jensen has just been in denial of this ‘ship having teeth for his own personal reasons. I don’t know and so far, he hasn’t been willing to talk about that. Maybe he will once it’s over. Maybe he won’t and I’m not going to be angry with him for it. He’s an incredible actor and he’s lived this character for 15 years, so he has a right to who he believed Dean is and isn’t.
The issues of representation continue to be pressing and what I see happening with Destiel and these other ‘ships is exciting because it shows growth on all sides. We have audiences able to voice not only how they perceive characters without shame but can express a desire for characters to be together. None of that is new for straight characters, but it is for queer characters. We have actors who not only can see these same things, but feel enough ownership of their characters to expresss what they believe their characters would do or feel. And we have showrunners who are going to make their story, sometimes in response to feedback from their fans and actors, and sometimes in spite of it.
What Destiel becoming canon gives me hope for is that as new shows come into being, characters that take off, actors who have unexpected chemistry, and ‘ships that gain a life of their own, will lead to shows that are less inclined to care if those ships are queer or not and just go with what fans respond to. That it will normalize that people can (and do) come out an all different times of life, even after being het-married, having kids, or presenting as straight to everyone else for 40 years. That it will reflect that sometimes, it’s not about having been queer or straight from the beginning, but be about that ONE relationship that just is different, special, or grows into a deep love regardless of the genders of the people. I hope we can get to a place where deep intimacy between same-gender characters doesn’t have to be a war over romance vs. platonic and the story can just develop without the pressure of representation because queer characters will be so prevalent that we don’t have to feel like we must cling so tightly to every one we get. I hope we can come to a place where sometimes relationships don’t go romantic because one person (regardless of gender) just doesn’t feel that way, because that is very fucking true in real life. I want to watch shows where the sexual identity of any character doesn’t have to be etched in stone from the word go, never to change ever because that’s boring and limiting, and honestly, not real life.
I am deeply grateful for actors like Isaac, Caan, and Collins who are willing to see characters outside the heteronormative lens and to advocate for queer romantic arcs. I’m thankful to showrunners who are making shows with greater queer representation than ever before. And I’m grateful to actors like Ackles, who while it wasn’t who he thought his character was, was able to expand his view enough to go where the story was going to go. The arc of the universe does bend towards justice, and we will get there. Until then, there’s fic. And thank God for that.

I've been tagged by @elorianna to do the writing tag game! Thank you very much 💖💖 For those of you who don't know, I actually write Fanfic!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
I've written a mere 6 fics 😳 I still have to grow my collection! I also write for a couple of fandoms aside from Milex - Finn and Poe from Star Wars, and I have one Gorillaz 2Doc fanfic.
What’s your total Ao3 word count?
10,634 - not many at all! I mostly post oneshots. Maybe one day I'll post a work that's that amount alone. The only public document I've written that was that long was my dissertation😂
What’re your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. All We Are
2. Into Place
3. Why Not?
4. Of the Morning
5. The Element of Surprise
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I don't get many comments so I try to reply to them all as they mean a lot to me! Thank you commenters! 🥰
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Oh definitely 'All We Are' - it's my only Gorillaz fanfic so far and I think the nature of Gorillaz as a franchise demands that it has darker undertones, especially the themes of the history of how Murdoc has treated 2D in the past. Spoiler alert but I kind of like that Murdoc doesn't pursue his feelings and cuts it off - it feels very in character.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Literally all of my others tend to have happier conclusions - I just like to see my ships get together haha! I would say 'The Element of Surprise' has the happiest ending - I just wanted Al to have his death ramps ring back so it was purely self-indulgent😂
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
None yet! I did have an idea to pair Finn and Poe with Inside Llewyn Davis, although it's probably more of an AU than a crossover - perhaps Poe (in the starving artist role of Llewyn) meets Finn at one of the Gorfiend's dinner parties and it continues from there? Who knows bro🤷🏻‍♀️
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not really, everyone's been very kind!
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do write smut but I've only ever published one piece, 'Not Safe For Comms' - it took a lot of courage to post that one because even though writing's writing at the end of the day, smut does have a reputation per-se and, lets be honest, no one wants to read bad smut, so I had to make sure it was just right - it takes a lot to really build it up and make a reader feel excited about it and believe it. Maybe more is to come (har har) if I get any more ideas 👀
Tbh I just prefer to read it (who said that?)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not to my knowledge!
What’s your all time favourite ship?
That is a huge question!
I LOVE Milex but I'm currently only really reading it and not writing it - no particular reason aside from a general lack of content and inspiration atm but this could change with Miles' new album and potential AM7? 👀
Can't lie, I'm really digging FinnPoe/Stormpilot the most atm. I have so many thoughts and feelings about them but I'm just upset that disney didn't go for it and put them together - it's literally tangible: their whirlwind meeting where they saved each others' lives and Poe gave Finn his NAME, the lip bite™ at the end of Force Awakens, the dynamic of the dashing flyboy pilot falling HARD for a rebel stormtrooper he just met, the way they bicker like a married couple, god I love it. It's also no secret that I'm currently on an Oscar Isaac hype and the fact that both he AND John Boyega were actively rooting for them to get together (even saying they played the roles romantic) just makes me love them even more. We were ROBBED!
I also ship the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler(my TRUE otp since 2006) Cassian and Jyn from Rogue One(why they gotta die like that) and The Eleventh Doctor and Clara (they're just cute alright!) as well as many more!
What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I also tend to also scrap things that just aren't working. I had a Milex one where the lads played a flirty game of pool set in 2005 but I was wrestling with it for so long that I just let it go. I also wrote around 10k of a fic where Alex was undercover and Miles was a crime boss😂 but I felt icky about it cause even though I made Alex an independent detective in a noir style it still felt a bit copaganda-esque and I didn't like that. The only WIP I currently have is a very basic FinnPoe one(inspired by Oscar dancing in Ex Machina cause I am what? Basic x) but I think I only like it for how I've written the ending so I need to find a way to get that to work 'cause I really like it!
What are your writing strengths?
I'm not the best out there - I mostly write for myself haha but I think I'm pretty good at description and scene setting, as well as some exposition.
What are your writing weaknesses?
A lot of things tbh, even though I did creative writing at A Level 🙃 I struggle with plot a lot(hence the oneshots), and sometimes dialogue stumps me. It's all a learning process!
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I've never had a reason to, but I'd have to get it translated accurately if I did. I think it's also important not to alienate a reader as sometimes I read stuff and it's a bit jarring if you're not sure on the meaning.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Milex is my first published fic, but I think I wrote for maybe Doctor Who back in the day? I've been reading fanfic for years, though.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
I have so few that I like them all! I do like my Gorillaz one which is surprising as that one took me the least time to write and I didn't even expect to write it at all - it's somehow my most popular fic(maybe the gorillaz fandom is just super active?) and I think the more angsty ending gave me a lot more to play with.

I'm thinking that Merthur is the same case of Stormpilot. It's not queerbaiting, it's potential. It's an amazing friendship with a really good chemistry and all the best to be a great ship and love story. They have a better chemistry than Arthur and Gwen, for God's sake! But I don't see any intentional subtext to a possible romantic interest between them. It's different for example of Johnlock which has clearly so many subtext throughout the plot. They were jealous of each other so many times, they implicitly flirted with each other so many times, they shared intense visual contacts with no reason so many times and they were always acting like they were trying to hiding their feelings for each other. But in the end we never had a canon answer. THAT I think was intentional, queerbaiting. But not Merthur or Stormpilot. Both ships look like really great best friends who love and care about each other very much, but are not IN LOVE with each other. They don't seem jealous when one of them is canonically in love with someone else, they don't act like they're trying to hide their feelings for each other, they are just adorable best friends who so many people ship hard because it makes sense. But I still don't think it's queerbaiting.
(I'm on season 4, will I change my mind until the end of the show?)

So let me get this straight. You make the first movie in a trilogy with a black man as one of the lead characters in the series while also setting up the possibility of an interracial romance with the white female lead based off mutual respect, friendship, and trust. Only to spend the next two movies relegating same character to a supporting role and make the white male villain the love interest. Then have the lead female character for the first time of a Star Wars movie have her entire arc be about the dark, brooding white man who needs to be saved from himself and then he has to save your life in the end. Even though he killed his father and is basically a nazi but hey doesn’t matter cause he’s dreamy and complicated, right? What exactly does Rey know about Ben Solo that has made her kiss him at the end? There has literally been nothing in the narrative to prove what exactly she likes about him other than his “tortured confliction” she literally knows nothing else about him except that he’s a nazi who has countless times almost killed her and her friends.
I’m honestly disgusted but Idk why I thought this would end any other way. Kylo Ren can choke. Oh wait, he did....thank god. the only saving grace.
Putting aside the sexist/abusive Reylo of it all. Let’s get this straight- Kylo Ren is not an anti hero who had an abusive childhood and went to the dark side. He had Han and Leia as his parents. Good people who would not of shown him anything but love and care. So he had Palpatine’s voice in his head all the time, that’s the excuse we’re gonna give? It’s all okay because our poor cis white boy was just struggling to figure out the difference between right and wrong because some voice was confusing him. Committing patricide is totally redeemable because he’s conflicted about doing it. Okay, Sure Jan.Anakin didn’t earn a redemption either IMO. What kind of message are we sending here? I have a real problem with Star Wars’ morality scale of being a whiny ass manchild who gets a pat on the back because he finally decided to do the right thing at the end of his life.
Furthermore, Oscar Issac confirmed that he fought for Stormpilot to happen and even specifically made acting choices towards it but was given a flat out not gonna happen by Disney. They then have the audacity to throw in a quick LGBT kiss and call that representation. Guess having an interracial or LGBT couple is too much, huh Disney? Guess you can’t have a strong independent lead female character unless they’ve got a sad boi to save.
I’m real tired....we’re going into 2020 now. All I can say is, DO BETTER NEXT TIME DISNEY.

Tag 9 People You’d like to Get to Know Better
tagged by: @teaofpeach ty<3
top 3 ships: i’m glad you brought it up because i’ve been dying to talk about it for fucking hot minute-- first of all, anything but reylo. i’m sorry, i just can’t. i don’t know the name but finn x poe (stormpilot?) is immaculate. delectable, finer than the nectar of the gods. also han x leia? perfection and canon (which is so freakin’ rare). and lastly, this one is kinda odd, but ray x shoshanna from the tv series girls. i just loved them so much, but their friendship is almost better. BUT the best ship of all (ik it was only supposed to be 3 but fuck it) is obi-wan x me x din... i’m yet to come up with a ship name but it’s going to reign supreme.
last song: “feeling whitney” - post malone. i’m not even really a fan of post malone but i’ve been really sad and my therapist is on vacation (aka not returning my emails) so my only coping mechanism is listening to sad music.
last movie: eternal sunshine of the spotless mind... so everyone told me what a masterpiece it was and hyped it up, so i watched it and was kinda disappointed. don’t get me wrong, it’s good and i’d recommend it, but it’s not the “best movie ever created” (words of some weirdo that told me i had to watch it).
currently reading: i’m currently not reading any non-fanfiction books (i can’t figure out what to fuckin read), but here are a few series that i am hooked on. hospitality by @teaofpeach, you hurt, i hurt by @datmando, saviin’ika by @stubbychaos, a proper mandalorian courtship by @anxiety-riddled-mando, the favour series by @maybege, rough day series by @no-droids (i reread this one probably about every four days because i’m a mess). like seriously y’all NEED to read every. single. one. of these masterpieces.
currently watching: narcos. why? because of javier-fuckin’-pena. that’s literally the only reason. i do not like crime shows but i’ll suffer through if it means i get to watch javier pena wear colorful shirts and breathe heavily.
currently consuming: some lukewarm h2o.
food i’m currently craving: my tumtum kinda hurts but i wouldn’t mind some classic cheddar cheez-its... actually, now that i’m thinking about it, i really really want some cheez-its. damn. that’s tough.
no pressure tags: @pettyprocrastination @lookforlittlethings @jangofctts @elenamiria @the-silly-skeleton
