"Felix should've killed himself"

Felix is a coward. Through and through, this is his character. He digs his own grave, and refuses to lie in it. He gets rid of the evidence of the children's corpses and bloodied items, but can't bring himself to die because he's still frightened. He wants too, but he cannot. He refuses to tell Jack and Rosemary- the parents of these children he was trusted with, his closest friends, his collaborators- what truly happened to their children. He lies straight to their face. He lies to the police directly. He cannot bring himself to bring Rocket back to Rosemary and Jack, bring back the only bit left that these two can have of their children. They never got to even have it before they 'dissapeared'. Felix has destroyed this family and himself from the inside out, because from the inside out he is a coward. Now he is haunted by everything he has been afraid of revealing. He has not carefully avoided it, no. He has avoided it like a puppet trying to untangle itself from a thick web, if that makes any sense.

And one day- if he's still alive, in this series present time- he's going to have to face Sophie.

And what will he do, then, with nowhere to run?

Because this is the moment where the similarities between Gloreth and Ambrosius’ stories end

At face value, these scenes seem incredibly similar 

In both scenes, Gloreth and Ambrosius are watching terrified as their homes are burning down around them because of a “monster” 

But that’s where the similarities stop

Because in the first scene, Gloreth decides to listen to everything that her community has told her 

And in the second scene, Ambrosius has finally figured out that everything he’s been told since he was a kid is a lie

God okay, So I was writing a post about how much Jake’s empty body and Neytiri having to defend it when anything can happen to it must scar her and give her nightmares. BECAUSE IT HAUNTS ME. And I started thinking about Spider Sully getting an Avatar and how much that would freak out Neytiri.

That’s already her most vulnerable son, not to mention he’s been the most targeted by Quaritch. But now he’s got TWO BODIES, one that he can’t be protecting?? Imagine the sleepless nights she spends in the mauri just staring at his avatar body, making sure no one comes in or even looks at him. Don’t even perceive him. One time Lo’ak forgets and tries to jump on him to wake him up and Neytiri like, has a breakdown and all of the kids are standing there awkwardly. Spider comes back to his body to the pizza box community meme, Neytiri having her breakdown while Jake tries to help and Tuk starts crying and Lo’ak and Neteyam just standing there like frozen and Kiri is trying to stop Tuk from going to Neytiri. Spider just like “oh my god, Norm let me back in the human body, oh my god.”

She like stalks him around for a while to make sure he doesn’t get broken out of link and his body is just lost somewhere. Especially if they go visit the Metkayina and his bodies are so far apart. He’s just doing regular activities, he’s mending nets with Ao’nung, Lo’ak, and Tsireya, but she still is watching.

Ao’nung: Spider, is that your mom?

Neytiri: *crouched behind a tree*

Spider: *big sigh* yeah...

Lo’ak: MOM, GO HOME. HE’S FINE. 

Neytiri: *hisses and stomps off*

She has Mo’at just terrorizing the scientists at back with the Omaticaya when she’s gone. Mo’at is breathing down Max’s neck, and every slight change on Spider’s monitor Max can feel Mo’at judging the shit out of him. He never thought he would think this, but he can’t wait for the Sully’s to come back so Mo’at will leave him alone and Neytiri will watch him instead. (He will come to regret this wish, as in reality both of them will watch him).

Yet another SandRay/RayMew parallel.

There is a small distinction here that I want to make though, because Ray says "to me" when talking about Mew, but he doesn't use that same specificity when talking about Sand. Ray extends it to "On this Earth" when talking about how caring/loving Sand is, whereas he only refers to himself in particular when talking about Mew. Ray recognizes how patient and committed of a person Sand is, and that's why he speaks so generally; it isn't just about the love that Sand shows to Ray, it's about the kind of person that he is to his core.

I think the idea of a super intimidating and super sadistic ler is fun and all. Like the idea of me being mean and unrelentless in both word and action is always a pleasant thought. But honestly, you know what I think is even more fun, even scarier than all of that? Being a super sadistic ler in action. Absolutely tickling my lee until they can't think. Breaking them down to tears and blush and messy begging. Making them give every inch of their laughter to me. But doing it all while being so sweet and kind and gentle. Praising them, coddling them, making them feel so sweet and lovely, all while purely torturing them beyond their furthest limits.

I just remembered the core memory of when I was in high school and Twilight was in its heyday which pissed me VERY MUCH OFF as someone who read it when the first book came out on a rec from a friend who was so offbase with that because fuck me I hated that book at 14 and even more so when it got popular two years later-

ANYWAYS, Twilight is big and popular, and I'm in Barnes and Noble glaring at the stand with all the Twilight-like books cause I do love vampires but there's nothing for queer little ole me. 'Interview With the Vampire is my life' teen Jacq was suffering so bad. So I pop over the manga section, looking for possible shonen-ai/yaoi (which was rarely labeled as such so it was like looking for a needle in a haystack) when I stumble upon this:

SOLD. I read no more. I don't need to read anymore, as nothing could prepare me for what I found inside.

I'm shaking as I go to the front and buy it immediately, so excited to read something that sounds so truly up my alley. I go home and consume some of the horniest, kinkiest vampire non-sex I had yet seen in my brief time on this earth between the aforementioned Charlie and the guy on the cover who is a fuck boy and the best boy mixed in with a pretty good story and romance. This series consumed me for the rest of my high school life as I was constantly on the lookout for new volumes. Even to this day, this is genuinely my favorite manga series, and it has a very cute happy ending and, as a shock to no one, informs a lot of my stupid writing trope habits.

This is a recommendation to go read Vassalord if you like vampires, cyborgs, horny blasphemy, pining, getting stabbed sexily, and one dude trying really hard not to fuck the other dude who's trying really hard to get the dude to fuck him while they fight crime and other vampires. It's great.

my latest observation from rewatching Asteroid City tonight is

Jones was a carpenter and happened to be a bit-part in a closing play. he was discovered by Schubert. he shows up at Conrad's with ice cream. he's never met Conrad before but he specifically brings Conrad his favorite ice cream both to ingratiate himself and frankly to keep Conrad from just sending him away without meeting him.

Schubert fucking told Jones what ice cream to bring. No one else could have. Schubert discovered Jones, looked at this five-foot-six bossy bisexual and sent him off to Conrad like a fucking birthday gift. Jones makes eye contact like he's driving a nail with a hammer when he takes his clothes off, and it's love and they're both doomed.

Schubert HAD to know, right? I wonder if he felt a little smug after, for so thoroughly having Connie's number. I wonder if he regret it much later, when he's talking Jones through an emotional breakdown in the middle of act three.

God, I love Asteroid City.
