welp, all of my methods for finding artists who've changed urls no longer work. If it doesn't show up in google's reverse img search (which rarely happens, google doesn't index tumblr very well) it appears to be impossible :')

Propaganda
Frances Dee (Becky Sharpe, Little Women)—no propaganda submitted
Ingrid Bergman (Gaslight, Casablanca, Notorious)—Where do I even begin with Ingrid Bergman? I fell in love with her with her astounding performance in the 1956 version of Anastasia -- the best Anastasia movie in large part due to her wonderful and touching performance. She's got this amazing, fascinating intensity to her in whatever role she's in. She commits 100%, and she's got this light in whatever she's in that's stunning. She's utterly convincing no matter what she plays, from an amnesiac possible lost princess, from a nun, from a woman taking her revenge on the town that wronged her, to light romantic comedy. She's never missed in any role I've seen her in! Also she became quite the MILF.
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]

Ingrid Bergman:
Tumblr media
God, she's fantastic. She's both beautiful and a compelling actor who's more than capable of putting the whole movie on her shoulders if necessary. It's worth noting that while her beauty is conventional, she was seen as refreshingly "natural" with more eyebrows and less makeup than many other leading ladies of the time. She's well known for her role in Casablanca, but in Notorious, Spellbound, (both available on archive.org ) and Gaslight (1944) she shows how immensely capable she is. [editor's note: I've seen all of these movies and I think they're fine, but it's been a minute, so I can't thoroughly tag for trigger warnings or officially "recommend"—as always, go forth with caution when a movie is mentioned in a propaganda submission, and don't take a mention as an official recommendation of this blog.]
I mean...she's Ingrid Bergman. I feel like that should be enough, you know? She's physically beautiful (her eyes!) but watching her is like a transcendent experience. Her voice, her expressions... beautiful woman, beautiful actor.
I'm a gay man but even I understand her appeal. I'll watch any movie she shows up in. Gorgeous woman.
Just try and watch her movies without sighing wistfully, then get back to me!
Tumblr media
Choosing 1-3 movies where Bergman was at her hottest was agony because, of course, she was always at her hottest. Not just because she was beautiful but because she was absolutely willing to go up against the bs women in Hollywood were constantly dealing with. When exiled from Hollywood for having an affair with Roberto Rossellini, not only did she refuse to apologize at any point, but she went on to say that Hollywood's films had grown stagnant and boring to her. Though she said she appreciated her time working there, she wanted to try new, different techniques (hence starring in Italian neorealist films, working on stage, and acting under directors like Ingmar Bergman). She was not afraid to chase after her artistic ideals and go outside the box regardless of what society had to say about it. From her first movie to her last she killed it. There's so much more to say about Bergman's career and life, but I've already written five million words so I'll stop at that.
Tumblr media
One of the most incredible actors I've ever seen on film. Her facial expressions are so intricate and poignant that I cannot look away. I'm either ace or straight, but damn she made me question that.
SEVEN TIME OSCAR NOMINEE QUEEN. Girl also PULLED, having affairs with famously hot men Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck IN ADDITION to her three marriages...sexy
She has a very natural beauty to her, and she's from Sweden!
She left Hollywood and only became more beautiful. You could drown in her eyes. She can look innocent AND like she's seen it all. She is effortlessly elegant. She's played Joan of Arc (automatically hot) AND was in the movie that coined gaslight as a term. And where would we be without that!
She was known for being a breath of fresh air on the movie scene at the time with her windswept hair, dreamy smile and soulful eyes. I have loved her in every movie I have seen her in - she was just magnetic!
Where do I even start. There's a neighborly quality to this beautiful, talented actress that makes her hotness one of a kind and her looks impossible to forget
Tumblr media
With a career spanning five decades, Bergman is often regarded as one of the most influential screen figures in cinematic history. Known for her naturally luminous beauty, Bergman spoke five languages – Swedish, English, German, Italian and French – and acted in each.
She's hot, don't get me wrong, but I've always found her very approachable, like she could easily be a member of my friend group
A lot of the time hotness in a movie is just about words and framing. "You're the most beautiful person here" [vaseline lens] well I sure hope so because that's who you cast. But when, in Casablanca, they call Ingrid Bergman the most beautiful woman in the world... they were not fucking lying. And such a dynamite actor too!! I'd only seen Casablanca up until last year, and there she's confined to love interest. But in Gaslight she was maybe one of the most incredible actors I've ever seen!!!! Goddddd shes so fucking hot and cool.

on the topic of internet preservation, and on a much lighter note of it. i think archive.org truly is a bastion of internet preservation in the decay of online knowledge and what i can only describe as masses of miniature burning of the library of alexandria. i love archive so much. kissing it on the mouth. but also remember that if you love something so much, and also if you make anything at all. please put the money down for one or two external hard drives and hold a copy or two of whatever you have as well god forbid that vanishes too.

Lost Fic #147
1. hi! im looking for a fic i read AGES ago, the idea was that gabriel came to the bookshop and confronted aziraphale about being in love with crowley (gabriel could sense it, i think) and aziraphale panicked and kicked gabriel through the shop window into the street and got him run over by a truck and discorporated . thank you sm 😭 - @zepuffer
2. Hello, I’m not good with words. But I really do love your blog. You do a great job running it. 💕I’m looking for I fic where Crowley is tempting god to smite him by causing problems. If I remember correctly it ends with Crowley falling in love with Aziraphale, and God saying something along the lines of “there you’re smitten.” - @hermittheecadie
3. I need the help of the GO hivemind. There is a fic(or possibly a chapter in a fic) that I am trying to remember. In it, whenever Aziraphale wants to see Crowley, he creates a disaster so the demon will come to his rescue. In this fic, he was the one responsible for Sodom and Gomorrah, and the story had him destroying what is heavily implied to be Atlantis. Thank you for any help. - anon
4. Hello, wishing the best for all the mods. Do you by chance know of a particular fic where Hell won armageddon, and Aziraphale ends up as a slave under Crowley? There's a collar given to slave angels that shocks them if they disobey commands. As far as I remember the fic rating might be NR/M/E. Thank you >< - anon
5. I'm not sure you can help, but I'm not sure where else to even look anymore.A fic was deleted from AO3, and I don't know how to find it on Archive.org or FanFiction.net without more to go on.Crowley finds out about Aziraphale's plan to trick the Nazis a couple weeks before it's to happen. He begs in prayer for the ability to survive walking into a church, to save Aziraphale. He then builds up as much immunity as he can, starting with lesser consecrations and working his way up. He saves Aziraphale. Then he goes into a kind of horrible fevered shock from the injury, and, more to the point, from disbelieving his and Aziraphale's love. There's another angel involved. I want to say the name was Qaphiel, but I can't remember for sure.Did any of you by chance come across it and know the title, or some other information I can use to find it archived?? - @embervoices
If you know any of these fics please include the number in your reply! Thank you :)
- Mod D

Kaiju Week in Review (February 19-25, 2023)
Tumblr media
Those of you who've been around here for a while may recall the Kickstarter campaign for a documentary called Kaiju Gaiden, which aimed to interview directors of underseen independent kaiju films. I stress the campaign because despite clearing its $25,000 funding goal, the documentary was never completed. Director David Hall apparently took the money and ran, and while producer Mark Jaramillo vowed to finish the film, his last update was in 2018. Jaramillo also stopped posting on his personal Facebook page the same year. Myself and pretty much everyone else who gave the project a backwards glance figured he had simply given up and withdrawn from fandom to avoid further embarrassment. Or perhaps something had happened in his personal life that was more pressing than chronicling the adventures of a wolfman and some funny lizards. Kaiju Gaiden entered the (alarmingly voluminous) annals of kaiju vaporware, alongside the likes of Godzilla Zero Hour and Colossal Kaiju Combat.
Well, something did happen in his personal life. Fucking hell, did it happen. As Jules L. Carrozza revealed last Saturday, Jaramillo was in prison until recently for distributing child pornography online. I've been in touch with someone who's looked into this horrid story beyond what's available through Google (i.e. PACER), and they've confirmed that this is no case of mistaken identity. They also shared excerpts from the sentencing report. I will spare you the vile details. Suffice to say the man is a monster of the kind I wish only existed in the movies. He had started posted on Facebook again in October like nothing had happened, and I'm extremely grateful Carrozza came forward before he could stage some triumphant return at G-Fest or another con.
I aim to have Wikizilla's Kaiju Gaiden page updated by early next week; I feel bad for taking so long, but I want our citations to be unquestionable and can't search PACER myself until Monday. I also regret not including all this in the last week in review, since it did fall under its scope, if only just. Truth be told, I didn't know how the hell to present it alongside more routine kaiju news, Godziban especially.
I also wanted to give good old @kaijusaurus time to complete his Edward Snowden act. Back at G-Fest XXIII in 2016, Jaramillo transferred to him a bunch of indie tokusatsu obscurities and asked him to keep them to himself. Well, suffice to say that promise is off, and he's deposited the lot on archive.org and (when possible) YouTube. Give them a watch and let their lo-fi simplicity remind you why you fell in love with this stuff.
I'm glad they can be out in the world. Kaiju Gaiden ultimately made many of them less visible than they could have been until now. If you couldn't make it to G-Fest, you were shit out of luck. For those of us who could, those memories are thoroughly tainted. Mark Jaramillo didn't make any of them, and they don't deserve to be associated with him. His most enduring contribution to the kaiju genre will be playing a CIA agent in the excruciating God Raiga vs. King Ohga: War of the Monsters... alongside David Hall. Good fucking riddance.

Dear @jigen-papa
I Runecel/Celerine/ @lossinicognito (I know save the applause, I have 3 identities and a secret 4th if I should ever reveal that one haha!) am your giftee for the @dcmk-exchange ! Now I know what you are thinking.
Apologies for my random disappearance, I wasn’t sure how to reply to you in rythmatic format but I genuinely adored how you played along and I loved your poem it was so good!?
ALSO WHERE THE FUDGE IS MA BOI HEIJI!?!?
And to that I say!
This was supposed to originally be a multi chapter fic however! I didn't want to go beyond the deadline and may never know when the second chapter is completed so I at least wanted to make something for you before I go into the deep end haha.
Here is the ao3 version of the fanfic: https://archive.org/works/5321279
And I hope ya have an amazing day now without further a due!
Sonoko’s Confrontation With Love
The first time a conversation about phones and Shinichi was brought up resulting in the incarceration of one idiotic teenage detective occurred on a bright, and sunny day of which Sonoko was internally screaming in her thoughts. To say that Shinichi’s umpteeth attempt to disappear in the night like a tuxedo mask would ever be what caused Sonoko’s life to become so stressful would be the understatement of the century. That incident was the cherry on top of an amazing ice cream at best and a footnote on the most awful (but irresistible) trial exam book at worst, no. What made Sonoko’s life so stressful, in her opinion, would just be Shinichi’s entire existence.
"Sonoko, stop being so dramatic,” is probably what her best friend would say. Well, Ran, the most beautiful being to ever god damn exist on this planet. Have you ever stopped to consider that this is KUDO SHINICHI THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT?
“I know you don’t mean it.” Yes, Ran, she 100% means it, and it’s going to stay that way if Ran doesn’t shut up about the next murder case Shinichi finds himself in because the last murder case already was in Tropical Land and he solved it within an hour.
“It was 3 hours, Sonoko.” 3 HOUR HER BUT! At the end of the day, she knows he can finish quicker because THIS IS KUDO SHINICHI THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT!
Hhe could easily solve that case if he wanted to, and he has a very amazing reason to do so as well! What gives him the right to leave such a beautiful lady like Ran towards her lonesomeness anyway? Anyone with eyes could snatch that beautiful angel away, taking her to high-budget cinema movie date and make out under the moonlight as Ran talks about how she successfully whooped another person in the ass. Heck, Sonoko could easily do it as well if she wanted two!
"Sonoko.” She bets it would be Sxhinichi’s as well! Imagine him coming back; ah, he would probably do one of those overly basic apologies that you would see in those romantic comedies that’s supposed to make the situation lighten up.
What will lighten up is his vision when Sonoko decided to beat the ever-loving daylight out of him.
“Sonoko” Then again, it’s much better if Ran was the one to do it with Sonoko at her side, punch him right in the gut as they both stare down at Shinichi’s rotting body before leaving him there.
Ran would hold her hand as they both could only gaze at the horizon, unsure of what their new-found freedom would hold but smiling, knowing it would be better.
“Sonoko!”
‘Rotten husband he is’ Sonoko thinks towards herself as she places herself amongst a poorly cushioned couch, he does nothing but torment the two. He would have been dead if Ran hadn’t want to marry him, and oh god; she’d probably go easy on him and then say something amongst the lines of.
‘Just don’t do it again,’ she would say to that bastard . It was probably best if Sonoko was the one to beat him up, teach him a lesson.
“Sonoko!” The imagining of Ran’s voice, an angelic choir with a acidic tinge reminiscent of those badass scenes in movies where the hot main character is holding a cool sword of which Sonoko would swoon for their rescue.
Yeah no Ran’s doing the beating. How could Sonoko not allow it with a voice like that? Heck, her presence is so strong that Sonoko might as well look like a fool by responding to her when she’s not even here.
“Yes Ran-chan?~” Sonoko's cheekish response becomes further more evident as she manoeuvres herself to be able to see behind her in expectation to see no one to respond to her.
“Don’t Ran-chan me!” Only to see the angel herself placing her hands on her hips with eyes ablaze as if she just witnessed a war crime. Sonoko would gladly be the one under that gaze under certain circumstances but sadly, today wasn’t one of them.
“I told you we shouldn’t have come, you were just recovering from illness!” Ran harshly protested leaning towards Sonoko's forehead to determine her current temperature.
Foreheads touching, Sonoko couldn’t help but stare with awe at the concerned look she was given by Ran whose deep lilac eyes could only stare at her with worry. Placing her hand amongst Ran’s silken hair, she give her head a few pets before flinging herself back onto the couch
“I’m fine Ran!” Sonoko exclaimed, dragging Ran down with her as Ran is placed by her side, head nestling on her shoulder in an attempt to look at something of which barely interests Sonoko.
It was probably the diary of which Sonoko was writing in with her internal Shinichi rants and her growing progress of becoming not sick.It was true that Sonoko was recovering but that doesn’t mean that Sonoko was unable to not stay at her house to fully recover. Wait, she's not at her house. . where is she?
Reclining alongside the couch she quickly paces herself up once more to scan the area of which with dread, she realised was not her room nor her couch. The wooden bench is decorated strongly amongst the grovery of nature surrounding her as she finds herself amidst a small crowd of people bustling around what seems to be a mall.
Shops were aligned quaintly organised as a staircase can be spotted signalling the entrance towards the cinema. Remembering the diary note she had entered, she quickly backtracked her memories towards her previous conversation with Ran about changing towards a different movie due to the movie (of which Sonoko had desperately wanted to watch) sharing too many themes with her disappeared beloved.
“So that’s why I was thinking about your husband,” Sonoko's dull groan filled the air, having finished her daily imaginary rant about Shinichi as she looked once more towards the movie selection on her pamphlet.
They had recently decided to go on a movie date due to the brat’s group of friends wanting to watch that new Kamen Yaiba they kept yapping about. Whilst the kids themselves tend to be left alone without surveillance, the group’s recent expedition resulted in a hostage situation and well. . .
A concerned parent will do what a concern does, resulting in the wife of Shinichi taking charge and declaring that she will be the one to take care of the kids in the meantime.
“Not my husband,” Ran countered, having now taken the pamphlet completely away from Sonoko to point at one of the movies that caught her interest.
“Stupid husband, I don’t feel like watching that one” Sonoko grumbled as she kicked her feet amongst the concrete floor before continuing her thought process.
It honestly would make sense why Sonoko had thought she was in the confinement of her luxurious room. Normally those imaginary rants are within the compounds of her room, feels safer there where she can ignore those thoughts of someone reading her thoughts and betraying Shinichi’s status amongst the media. She might hate the man but that doesn’t mean she wants to ruin his damned life, he already does enough of that.
‘How about this one? ' Sonoko pointed, notioning towards another romance movie of which she also wanted to watch but would have preferred to watch it at home.
“Is it possible if we pick something else?” Ran commented, eyeing on the watch on her wrist with great interest of which intrigued the confused Sonoko. “Preferably something under 2 hours”
‘Why’s that?” Sonoko queried, placing her slender arm amongst Ran’s broad shoulders in an attempt to see if there was anything else the queen herself couldn’t see.
“The movie is too long and if I don’t make it on time I won’t be able to strangle the person you just wanted to kill” Ran pointed, booping the shocked Sonoko on the nose as the confused female can only reboot.
“I said that out loud?”
“You don’t say stuff out loud?”
“RAN!” Sonoko puffed out, dragging out one of Ran’s hands as she quickly met Sonoko's forehead resulting in the two girls' foreheads to once more be touching.
“Just teasing,” Like the sun on a summer’s day, there was something truly intoxicating about Ran’s mischievous grin, the way just like her voice it is unexpected of when she will attack and thus Sonoko had a tendency to forget how cheeky Ran could be.
It would be like standing outside for too long, only to find out how immensely damaged you got from the sun resulting in the person going to the hospital and now they have skin cancer. . . ok that was a bit much.
Sonoko noted as she finally noticed the way Ran’s finger slowly pointed towards one of the movie suggestions.
To say Sonoko was unimpressed would be the opposite of an overstatement.
It was a movie adaption of both of her childhood’s friends' favourite tv series with both the mystery to appeal towards Shinichi and poetry to charm Ran. Sonoko could only nod along with disappointment, the poetry was nice but the audience wouldn’t hold a candle to the romance movie Sonoko had suggested. Goodbye potential love interests and hot men she could have sawn through watching the movie.
Hello nightmares of Shinichi staring like the shinigami himself, forcing Sonoko to listen more about his obsession with Sherlock. Don’t get Sonoko wrong, she two has raved towards Shinichi about her favourite obsessions (specifically romance) but to get that compared to a crime scene from one of his favourite books was not always a pleasant experience.
“Why can’t you just message him? I’m sure he can bother to read messages” Sonoko argued, sliding among a line of people waiting to buy a movie ticket.
“Well Sonoko, let me just grab my phone” Ran proclaimed, mimicking the movement of grabbing a phone out of her pocketed dress to only appear empty handed. “If memory serves me correctly I had lost my phone at an aquarium of which I told you about”
“You did?” Was now the best time for Sonoko’s memories to flunk on her now? Sonoko had specifically asked if she could be the one to gift her a phone with Ran responding it was Shinichi’s punishment. Like he’ll find a good phone for her.
“Also. . .” Ran stops in the middle of her explanation, face dreary in what Sonoko could only assume was another excuse for Shinichi making a dumb move.
“Also?”
“He hasn’t been calling me through his phone number” Ran ushered out, hands fiddling with her skirt as she silently looks down before continuing “ I don’t think he can even use it”
To say Sonoko didn’t know this information was a shock, she did and totally didn’t assume that Shinichi was blocking her for the 100th time whilst not recognising the fact she was the one to block him first resulting in an apology for her end.
“I’m sorry what?” Sonoko stuttered, thoughts completely emptied from this revelation of which she responded by turning towards Ran amidst the line of people that really wanted to watch a movie.
“It’s because of the-”
“Case! Case! I know, it’s always about cases with that man,” Sonoko angrily expressed, when was it not about a case in Shinichi’s eyes?
The cashier could only stare at them in complete tiredness when Sonoko had boldly asked two tickets before dragging Ran by the arm to a seated area inside the other side of the cinema lobby.
The cinema lobby itself luckily had a restaurant section for people like Sonoko and Ran to earth and wait for the perfect opportunity to head inside the cinema viewing when the timing is right. The movie wouldn’t start in a couple of minutes which gives more time for Sonoko to converse with Ran about the idiot at hand.
“One day he’s going to get himself into trouble and I’m not even sure if we can be there to help” silence can only be pursued as Sonoko couldn’t help but bite her tongue on what she just suggested.
“I had a dream about him” Ran stuttered out, barely containing her stress for those who know her as her quivering hands imply.
“Oh honey,” Sonoko expressed in sympathy like she had done so every time similar moments were to occur like today.
The truth was he had, very much so. Sonoko would have nightmares and at some point she questions whether those stories were fake or real due to how much trouble that murder magnet finds himself in. It was so simple when they were younger, when Shinichi wasn’t purely trusted by the police and thus wasn’t sent out on cases.
It would be a couple of minutes until the ad roll comes into play.
“Don’t worry about it Ran! He’ll be fine!” Sonoko assured, placing her hand towards Ran’s quivering one in reassurance.
“Are we even sure? He can’t even use his phone!”
“He probably lost it!”
“He doesn’t normally take cases this long Sono-” Ran cuts herself off in a mid-stutter as though she was contemplating on the next words she was about to say. - “He’s our age, why is he taking cases like this?”
“Because we befriended a murder magnet,” Sonoko sighed having one more relayed what she had always said towards the downturned Ran in need.
How can’t he see how amazing she is, truely. The girl’s stressing out about him and where is he? Probably nowhere for all they could know. He could really use someone to tell him- wait a minute.
“When’s the phone call?” Sonoko queried, body stiffened in anticipation upon what Ran could say in desperate hope.
“8:15pm” A whisper of a response from Ran was all Sonoko needed, eyes concentrated on the motivation. Sonoko could only speak from what she could gather from her chest.
It might not have been the best of speeches, but Sonoko could not just stand there as she watches her best friend shrivel up like this as if some random boy isn’t ruining her life..
Honestly it might have been the best speech Sonoko has performed since her poetry recital.
“We are going to watch that movie!”
“Sonoko-” A finger placed amongst her lips was all Ran needed before Sonoko could continue her amazing speech.
“-Hush darling, I’m speaking.” Sonoko notions towards the trouble Ran as her breathing slowly shortens enough for Sonoko to continue talking
“We are going to have fun,” Sonoko declares, standing proudly as her first part of her speech was completed. Poking at her best friend as she continues along. “WE are going to receive a call by that murder magnet at 8:15pm of which you will hear my yells of torment on how he could leave such a beautiful maid alone”
“Sonoko!-”
“- of which I will declare my love to you and we shall get married at sunset!” Sonoko finished with a flick of her wrist to allow Ran to softly rest on the palm of her hands.
“I’m not that beautiful,” Ran splutters, giving Sonoko an annoyed grin as though Ran has insulted her first hand.
Someone please remind Sonoko to reprimand Shinichi for not calling Ran cute, cause clearly Sonoko’s displays of admiration are not getting through Ran’s thick skull but then again. Neither did their upper classmate’s recreation of Shinichi’s speech give any hints so what does Ran know about density?
“No complaints from you, have you seen how the brat looks at you?” No seriously has Ran ever seen how the brat looked at Ran?
“He’s just a kid Sonoko!” Ran counters, somewhat disgruntled by the suggestion but from the tone of her relaxed voice to how rested she appears. Sonoko could honestly just take it as a win.
“Yeah, if you say a teenager possessing a brat is a brat then maybe I will believe you.” His mind could be much older at times, Sonoko noted, reminiscing the times of which one could see Conan at his most vulnerable.
Heck it was just recently when Sonoko noticed the way Conan looked at Ran when the two groups departed that afternoon. The face of sulken defeat as he quickly covers it in hopes of something good happening in the future. Sonoko should know, she bears that face on a daily basis.
“Sonoko!” The choir of laughter erupts from the pair as if a damn finally crashing amongst its weight.
Ran’s laugh was special, Ran herself was special and whilst Sonoko’s appearance is weak and someone who is unable to protect her. Sonoko does know one thing.
“Now what are we going to do Ran-chan?” Sonoko
“Have fun?”
“Have fun!” Sonoko confirmed, squishing the cheeks much to Ran’s dismay as she drags the poor girl into the cinema booth.
At the end of the day, Sonoko was there for support whether it be enabling or wingman in dating. Just like the day of which the first met underneath the sakura blossoms Sonoko associates with Ran, Sonoko will be there for Ran no matter what.
The movie was. . . fine. Deductions were never her interest and flowery poetry that was not about romance was definitely something that did not intrigued Sonoko. If given the opportunity to stay at home or to be at the cinema to waste money on a boring movie then Sonoko would pick the former.
But it was for Ran, Sonoko reminded herself, resting upon the chair as she reclined herself upon Ran’s shoulder. A faint cherry blossom smell could be noticed by Sonoko, a reminder of Ran’s as Sonoko slowly feels the sleep of her eyes settle more.
The movie was halfway over when she had noticed a small child enter the cinema booth unnoticed by most watching including Ran, too focused on the movie to bother noticing people entering and leaving. The child, reminiscent of another child Sonoko knew, quickly looked both ways before pocketing the glasses of which he was not using.
The child places himself on the chair with the dignity of someone about to die as Sonoko notices the pure paranoia emanating from the child as he once more scans the area of which no danger was present. Had Sonoko been awake a bit more she would have recognised the child whom she kept in prolonged contact with someone not of the brat but a childhood friend.
Their eyes glanced at each other but Sonoko was too tired to stay awake, too tired to notice when she had left the cinema or the conversation of which she held with Shinichi via phone, Sonoko’s phone no less. Not noticing the promises or unhinged way of how he talked but what she did notice however. Was the faint echo of her voice being heard when she goes outside of the cinema to notice the same brat with a bowtie clutched onto his hands speaking in the same manner of which Shinichi was speaking.
Sonoko knows her feelings, she knows how to see others such as the brat’s despair written across his face similar to that of a certain detective keeping face or a martial champion trying to focus on others before herself. She knows Shinichi’s feelings, the man of which Ran was talking to shared the same love of which Sonoko shared towards Ran, one day they will talk alone about these feelings but today was not today
Leaving the area and resting with Ran amongst their bed was comfortable as finally, sleep finally takes over Sonoko.

Hi!! I love you're blog💕 miss kat sooo much 😭 You're doing god's work in her 💜💜💜💜💜
My question is... How do you find all those Old illustrations???
[Thank You!!]
[This Archive started with only ROTTMNT art. But while looking and googling for Hob art, I realized it would be kinda disingenuous not to shine the light on other works. So! Most of it comes from googling straight up 'site:tumblr.com hobermen' and see what comes up.] [When Tumblr seemed to be a sinking ship back in 2018, some mirroring sites came by and technically archived blogs. Thankfully Hobs added captions to their posts, so I could add the caption to my google search to find specific posts. Tumblrgallery helped a lot. Some of the blogs reblogging one posts usually reblogged more, so looking through their blog also brought me more.]
[A few people got interested in the Archive too, two with their own comprehensive Drives, another with a Pinterest board. They all shared their personal archives and it's generally where I'm pulling the Reposts from. One of them helped me out with the archive.org. Reposts get their original twitter captions thanks to that.]
[All in all, it's a lot of losing myself to time and finding more and more awesome art still out there. Hoarding it all here like a dragon, but wanting to share and meet all these people that also miss their art.]

ancient historical romance recs
for @en-theos and @marcvscicero
I have some ancient HR recommendations!
{Enchanted Fire by Roberta Gellis} This is a historical fantasy romance, about Orpheus and Eurydice in an alternate ancient Greece where the Greek gods are actually powerful mages, but I love it to pieces. Literally. My hard copy is falling into bits at this very moment.
{Render Unto Caesar by Gillian Bradshaw} This is more of a historical thriller than true historical romance, but there is an HEA and a smidgen of sex too. It's about an Alexandrian Greek merchant searching for justice in Imperial Rome, and the Celtic gladiatrix who becomes his bodyguard. It's SO GOOD.
{The Ravishers by Jeanne Duval} (archive.org link) This is definitely an old-school bodice-ripping epic, by gothic author Virginia Coffman. Our heroine, the half Greek half Gallic Lysandra, is sold into palace slavery, whereupon she becomes the mistress of Nero, Galba and Domitian, while still pining for General Maximian. There's plots and palace intrigue aplenty. Also Vesuvius blows up!
{Claimed by the Enemy by Shauna Roberts} A farmboy and a princess find love in war-torn Sumeria. There's not much sex that I remember, but lots of action and it's emotionally very gripping. It is also very accurate from what I can tell.
Render unto Caesar and Claimed by the Enemy have a high degree of historical accuracy, while the others are.... fine? At least there's no oranges, like this one historical romance set in ancient Etruria I just read. And nobody converts to Christianity. IMO they're a lot of fun.

O my god i have to ask what is your fav fic ?
Hey anon!
The literary masterpiece that is currently being written - you're like a tattoo (something i can't undo) by the equally wonderful and lovely human That Aj who can be found here on tumblr at @winderlylandchime.
If you have not read this fic, then please drop everything you are currently doing and read it immediately, if you have already read it, then go read it again. Remember to shower the comment section with love or send a message directly to her tumblr to let her know how much you loved it because there is no other reaction you could possibly have. Also check out all her fic history they are just as amazing.
There are so many exceptional qaf fic writers here on tumblr, it may be a barely existent fandom lmao but the talent is huge.
A link to some of my faves found here: https://www.tumblr.com/sophsun1/681335678304436224/hey-was-scrolling-through-the-britin-tag-and?source=share
ivysunna - Works | Archive of Our Own who is on tumblr (mostly) lol but i can't link to their blog it seems.
A shoutout to a new writer to qaf at least, check out their works - Fifty - kinnenvy (huashan), who is @kinnenvy I have gotten to know them and they are a lovely person and Gale Harold enthusiast :)
Special mention to this which might be the greatest qaf fic I've ever read, if anyone has any links to this creators work PLEASE send them to me, as they were active before my time and I cannot find any - Myrna's fiction (archive.org)
If anyone ever has any recs, send them my way as there is no doubt hundreds I have not seen as I'm relatively new to qaf.
In conclusion go yell and support all fic writers, especially after what happened to A03 I think we all know how much we need and love them!

Technicolor Familiar Watches Too Many Conrad Veidt Movies Part 4 of ?
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3
Tumblr media
The Wandering Jew, 1933 Dir. Maurice Elvey ⭐2.5/5 Watched Nov 30, Youtube Maybe it was my mood, maybe my expectations were too high, maybe it was the poor quality of the version I watched on Youtube, but I kept waiting for this movie to get better. It sort of did, eventually. The whole last act, especially Mathathias' powerful monologue during the courtroom/Inquisition scene, almost made up for the rest. I get what they were going for style-wise, but I think this kind of epic, mythical story could have benefited from some more grounded writing and performances. Either that or it should have gone harder in the other direction to be more impressionistic, more dreamlike. In the end I feel like it didn’t know what kind of movie it wanted to be.
Tumblr media
Casablanca, 1942 Dir. Michael Curtiz ⭐4/5 Watched Dec 2, Max The balls they had to make this movie in 1942. I think the first time I saw this a few years ago I must not have been paying very close attention. This time around I definitely appreciated the whole thing a lot more. The cast, the production design, the lighting, the atmosphere are all pitch perfect. Why not 5 stars then? Maybe because I'm greedy and I want more. This is the only film on this list so far that I wouldn't mind being longer. I want to get to know all the supporting and side characters more. It's nice to see Connie with an ensemble of other excellent actors for a change. It really let him off the hook to be purely unlikeable and not have to carry the movie. As Strasser, he's ice cold with only the slightest trace of camp (which was much more pronounced in the previous year's All Through the Night). He played a lot of villains and unfortunately was typecast in these kinds of roles late in his career, but I think he finally got to showcase here his fervent contempt for the Nazis by playing this utterly icky guy with zero redeeming qualities. He understood the assignment.
Tumblr media
Whistling in the Dark, 1941 Dir. S. Sylvan Simon ⭐2.75/5 Watched Dec 3, Archive.org This makes All Through the Night look like auteur cinema. But once again Connie sells it by being totally deadpan amongst all the slapstick tomfoolery. Love to see him with a bunch of underlings, especially at the beginning as they hatch their plan. It's clear he's having a lot of fun with his line delivery. Kind of wish there was more cult/con artist stuff for him to do, but the premise is enjoyable in an absurd way. I love the two ladies, Ann Rutherford and Virginia Grey; they sort of make up for how obnoxious Red Skeleton is. Most of the bits go on far too long though. My main take away from this movie is that I'll now be leaving every future interaction saying, "We part in radiant contentment."
Tumblr media
Der Gang in die Nacht, 1921 Dir. F. W. Murnau ⭐2.5/5 Watched Dec 10, Archive.org It's been a minute since my last foray into silent Connie, so I wanted to watch Kreuzzug des Weibes which recently surfaced on Youtube only to have since mysteriously disappeared. Figures. So I watched this instead. A lot of these movies, silents and talkies, have rushed and disjointed endings and this is no exception. The restoration of the version on Archive is amazing, the quality is just beautiful. But I had a hard time connecting with this one, and I don't think it has anything to do with the expressionistic performances. I feel like they were maybe trying to say something about science vs art, while also throwing in messages about infidelity, etc. I don't know what I wanted, but this wasn't it. But I can't complain too much, Connie's romantic anguish is a thrill to watch. When he wakes up after recovering from surgery, his intensity is something else. It's crazy how palpable his performances are across so many years.
Tumblr media
King of the Damned, 1935 Dir. Walter Forde ⭐3.5/5 Watched Dec 11, Archive.org This is only 3.5 because of the absolutely god awful quality of the version that's on Archive -- it's like someone did 18 shots of jäger, picked up a camcorder and recorded a bootleg of the movie on tv. It made me kind of seasick. Probably the worst copy of any of these movies I've seen so far. And that really sucks because I actually really liked the movie. It's surprisingly progressive in a way I wasn't expecting. The conversation it's trying to start about prison reform is still really relevant. And we get wet, sweaty, grimy shirtless Connie gently caressing other men in the jungle. I wish we had learned his name at the end, once the revolt was successful and the prisoners had control of the island, it would have been really satisfying for him to reclaim his identity again. But I also completely understand that it needed to not be about him, that he was committed to serving and advocating for the collective. Ugh, love it.

Propaganda
Ann Sothern (A Letter to 3 Wives, The Blue Gardenia)_ Another unsung comedienne of the 30s and 40s, not enough people know about Ann Sothern. She was, along with her bestie Lucille Ball, originally a Goldwyn gal, but was soon a featured star in pictures. She even headlined a series of films, the Maisie movies. And though she was known for her comedies, but I fell in love with her after her dramatic role in A Letter to 3 Wives. I also absolutely love her in the noir murder mystery The Blue Gardenia. She was absolutely stunning, and I am always excited to find a movie of hers to watch. She's high on my list of "Why don't more people talk about her?" actresses
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Ann Sothern:
Tumblr media
She was so beautiful and had great comedic timing!
Tumblr media
Ingrid Bergman:
Tumblr media
God, she's fantastic. She's both beautiful and a compelling actor who's more than capable of putting the whole movie on her shoulders if necessary. It's worth noting that while her beauty is conventional, she was seen as refreshingly "natural" with more eyebrows and less makeup than many other leading ladies of the time. She's well known for her role in Casablanca, but in Notorious, Spellbound, (both available on archive.org ) and Gaslight (1944) she shows how immensely capable she is.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
SEVEN TIME OSCAR NOMINEE QUEEN. Girl also PULLED, having affairs with famously hot men Gary Cooper and Gregory Peck IN ADDITION to her three marriages...sexy
Tumblr media
She has a very natural beauty to her, and she's from Sweden!
She left Hollywood and only became more beautiful. You could drown in her eyes. She can look innocent AND like she's seen it all. She is effortlessly elegant. She's played Joan of Arc (automatically hot) AND was in the movie that coined gaslight as a term. And where would we be without that!
She was known for being a breath of fresh air on the movie scene at the time with her windswept hair, dreamy smile and soulful eyes. I have loved her in every movie I have seen her in - she was just magnetic!
Tumblr media
Where do I even start. There's a neighborly quality to this beautiful, talented actress that makes her hotness one of a kind and her looks impossible to forget
Tumblr media
With a career spanning five decades, Bergman is often regarded as one of the most influential screen figures in cinematic history. Known for her naturally luminous beauty, Bergman spoke five languages – Swedish, English, German, Italian and French – and acted in each.
She's hot, don't get me wrong, but I've always found her very approachable, like she could easily be a member of my friend group
Tumblr media
A lot of the time hotness in a movie is just about words and framing. "You're the most beautiful person here" [vaseline lens] well I sure hope so because that's who you cast. But when, in Casablanca, they call Ingrid Bergman the most beautiful woman in the world... they were not fucking lying. And such a dynamite actor too!! I'd only seen Casablanca up until last year, and there she's confined to love interest. But in Gaslight she was maybe one of the most incredible actors I've ever seen!!!! Goddddd shes so fucking hot and cool.

You know, Frois had said that Nobunaga himself jumped on this Nichi fellow and grabbed him, not Hideyoshi. Maybe Murdoch misread the Frois text. Or maybe he got confused because the text refers to Nobunaga as “the king” and maybe his mind muddled it up with another episode where Hideyoshi is also called “the king”.
I just found that Murdoch’s book is on Archive.org so I’m reading it to see what other funny stories are in there other than the very messed up “Asai” situation (I’m crying, who is supposed to be who?????)
It’s both funny when it’s actual quotes of the missionaries going “what in God’s Holy name is wrong with these people”, and funny when it’s Murdoch narrating a very very strange version of “common facts” about the Sengoku that you just be like “where the fuck are you getting these stories from?”
Nobu’s spawn being like “why can’t I commit adultery tho” :’D
Tumblr media
I mean, bro, you might have a better argument if you read the Bible first, and then ask the priests why is Solomon allowed to have 1000 wives. (they probably would still insist on saying That is Not Okay, but eh)
Also maybe this copy is just faulty, but in this book there’s some typos where Nobutaka is mistakenly written as Nobutada. Woops.
Murdoch said that by 1590s Nobukatsu is Nobunaga’s "only surviving son” and I just... My man, I’m very sorry you didn’t know Nobunaga had 10+ sons and there’s still maybe 5 of them at this point in time. I know there’s at least 3 of them that made it past 1600.
I think he legit thought there was only three of them (Nobutada, Nobukatsu, and Nobutaka).
Also there’s a story about that troll hellspawn where after Hideyoshi called him back, Hideyoshi put on this big show of crying crocodile tears while wailing about Nobunaga again (according to Frois), and I just headcanon that my lord is just like “Do I look like I care about how much you love my dad, stop talking and let me go home already”.

top 5 websites
oh this is hard i'm turning into *old man shakes fist at cloud* about online at this point in time so this is a ranking of the top 5 websites i can remember that i feel positively towards:
an irreverent website made by one of my youth when i was still running the local lgbtq+ youth support group about how (if i'm remembering right) god is a possum and so is her daughter jesus and they're both trans. (i'm not going to boot up my old laptop to check & wouldn't post it anyway for privacy's sake). the kid who made the website was one of my favorites and i often think of her and hope she's doing good.
annotatedtmg.org like.. listen. the mountain goats are and always will be one of my biggest special interests so an easy on the eyes, easy to navigate website that's full of annotated lyrics that have been compiled by other fans? hello???? sexiest websites of all time i have absolutely spent hours on it.
due to nostalgia and how many of my closest friends i've met through here, tumblr. it's made my life so much more filled with love and connection.
on the same note as number 2: leverage.whendarknessfalls for having easy to navigate to, easy to read transcripts of leverage
farragone.com, my partner's website, bc i love them and i'm really excited for his comic to start posting later this year!
honorable mention to all online archives like the wayback machine & archive.org etc etc.

asking a bunch of numbers for the book ask, hope that's okay! 2, 3, 4, 11, 19, 22, 24 ❣️ happy new year!
very much ok my beloved <3 happy new year to you as well!! i hope your year is filled with love and joy and good stories <33
2. did you reread anything? what?
i actually re-read quite a lot this year.. i reread too like the lightning by ada palmer, stockholm syndrome by richard rider (iykyk, this one was a really good re-read bc it's been like 5 years or so and i wanted to know if it'd still make me see shrimpcolours... it did, but mostly also for the nostalgia factor) silence of the lambs & red dragon by thomas harris (also gave me shrimpemotions but it always does), senlin ascends by josiah bancroft, havemercy & shadow magic by jaida jones and danielle bennett (so i could finally read dragon soul), the lava in my bones by barry webster, the secret history by donna tartt, american gods by neil gaiman, the city & the city by china miéville... that's 11/74 books from this year, that's such an insanely high re-read count for me, i completely hadn't realised this!
3. what were your top 5 books of the year?
the scar by china miéville (surprising no one), the silence of unworthy gods by andrew rowe, the left hand of darkness by ursula k. le guin, lud-in-the-mist by hope mirrlees, liverpool by james worthy
i answered 4 on my main blog @heartyearning !
11. what was your favourite book that has been out for a while but you now read?
all but one of the books in my prev top 5 are from non-recent years so excluding all of those i also read lolita this year and loved it so much.
19. did you use your library?
i did not (boos from the audience) but i did use the library/lending function on archive.org and project gutenberg. and the library that is my mother's bookcase
22. what's the longest book you read?
most likely kushiel's dart by jacqueline carey! the audiobook came in at about 31 hours i believe.
24. did you DNF anything? why?
i DNF'ed a LOT of things this year for no particular reason. most of the DNF's i still have lying around and plan to get back to, it's been a very chaotic reading year for me and i've put stuff down very often and just fallen out of the habit of reading it, or started reading something else and then forgot, that sort of thing. the only conscious dnf that i can think of right now is perhaps the stars by ada palmer, and i dnf'ed it because it deals with graphic descriptions of war and even though it's space war and completely fictional etcetera i just couldn't stomach it. it felt really horribly in poor taste to be reading a fictionalised account of war in which there are dramatic story beats and so on to follow — to be clear, a lot of stuff i read is fantasy so i read about war all the time and i don't generally think its morally wrong to write about fictional war, but it just felt. so wrong.
