entertainment business makes bad castings (race swaps) on purpose. this provokes people and the project gets instant attention without putting much effort into marketing. they are able to create entertainment which can't be criticised without you being branded as a bigot for not liking it. the audience has to love it. we have to stand up and clap.
especially black women are often used as objects for virtue signaling and marketing boosters but it's branded as "diversity" and "representation" - but they are also the ones who are put in the spotlight for people to verbally abuse them online. I think all of this is racist itself.

Okay so Loki is a character I’ve loved for a decade (I adore the actor too) and I was hyped beyond reason for the show and I wanted more than anything to enjoy it as I love him and time travel stuff but I couldn’t. The pacing was too slow, Tom’s acting was off (which sucks because we all know how well he usually plays Loki) and they made Loki into a a childish, pathetic and powerless WIMP! He’s a GOD FFS! He should be more powerful than the likes of Carol Danvers, Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff! He wielded TWO Infinity Stones in the first Avengers movie (Space & Mind) so why does he get beaten up by vaccuums and mortal humans in his show? And why is this show not even about him as Sylvie says? They turned him into a laughing stock and a sap where he used to be one of the coolest characters ever. Mysterious, cunning, smart, witty, funny (not in a stupid way) and always had a regal presence. Not that of an idiotic office worker! I blame Disney and Michael Wallydron for the terrible writing and direction this show took. I don’t want to watch my favourite character get kicked in the crotch a dozen times and castrated of a personality and power he once had! What a disrespect to the fans, actors and franchise this nonsense was! Tom may be a ‘producer’ but he said that he only had 3% input! They should have just let him write, direct AND act it and be DONE with it! What happened to his Jotun heritage huh? FORGOTTEN! Give us fans what we want and deserve instead of what Disney want! They want to make him into a joke! THEY RUINED one of my all time favourite characters and it HURTS BADLY!!! 😤😭😪💔

”Go Woke, Go Broke.”
So… “Become more informed about the world still being in dire straits in society’s treaty of minorities, become financially destitute.”
They DO know this is how they sound, right?

The likelihood that an incoming undergraduate can read a book or write an essay diminishes from year to year, and only the entrenched sentimentality of the educational establishment prevents it from acknowledging that the cause of this lies in the culture of self-esteem.

It would be easy to say that, in hindsight, Dobson "went woke and went broke", right? That "trend" where the original storyline was sacificed for propaganda, which applies to So You're a Cartoonist. Of course, that silly slogan is meaningless when we know of Dobson's character and his lazyness. Besides, that motto applies more to Sinfest, which is on the opposite end of the ideology thing.
It could apply to Dobson, in a way. Although on his case, he specifically went “woke” because he thought it would get him attention and popularity. It also let him vent his odd hatred of men in general, but that’s a whole other thing. I’d like to believe that at least some of the people who actually fell to the “go woke go broke” curse actually did believe in what they were preaching, so to speak.
Sinfest has weirdly went from a comedy to hard left and has recently swung to hard right and I have no idea what’s going on with it.

Literally what's happened to Disney-Marvel, Disney-Star Wars, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings and major video game publishers.
They've pandered to activists to produce for a "modern audience" that doesn't exist, and alienated the audience that does exist. Instead of taking responsibility for their own actions and choices, they then attack the audience for their lack of interest.

There are a lot of people who say that the problem with modern media—specifically tentpole franchises like the MCU and “Star Wars”—is that there’s too much “pandering” to “wokeism” as opposed to “just telling good stories.”
And I want you to walk with me as I tell you about how “Wokeism” has always been a part of these franchises and that the stories are STILL GOOD actually. But how YOU’RE engaging with these stories is the problem.
Comics have literally always been woke. Superman was created by Jewish men with a specific goal in mind—he represented Jews. He was a response to the rise in Nazism.
The X-Men are, well, we know who they are—they represent persecuted minorities, be they race or sexual/gender minorities.
Star Wars was heavily influenced by the Vietnam War—and was on the side of the Vietnamese!
And don’t get me started on “Star Trek”. Cuz in that universe, people don’t even use money anymore. It’s a socialist utopia.
“Wokeism” has been baked into all these stories from the jump. It’s just that when we were children, we didn’t have the worldview that we do now (as adults) to see what it was.
A lot of people say that these “woke” writers are “reimagining great comic characters” and making them worse. Yet, the Tony Stark everybody loves in the MCU? Not comics accurate. The Superman Snyder made? Not comics accurate.
It’s ok to not like versions of characters that people choose to make. That’s why they’re adaptations. They’re not meant to be analogous. I accept Snyder’s version even though that was not Siegel and Shuster’s original vision. It’s Snyder’s take. And I engage with that as its own piece of media.
Has this era of these franchises been more inclusive? 100%. And will that appeal to everyone? Absolutely not. But there’s a reason for that.
I believe the problem is that, due to the interconnectedness of the MCU/Star Wars etc., fans feel forced to watch programs that don’t appeal to THEM. And then blame the show for that. When, perhaps, you were not the target audience.
“She-Hulk” was not made for everybody. It was made for people who would like to follow a female character with special abilities who just kind of wants to be normal and deal with everyday, normal stuff. But can’t. Because she’s a Hulk. But also a woman in the modern world. I found it funny and charming because it appealed to ME. And I often watch shows about women dealing with their careers and love lives.
It’s “Ally McBeal” if she got Hulk powers. And if you were unlikely to watch “Ally McBeal” why do you think you would like “She-Hulk”?
“Andor” is in many ways a good show. But I did not like it because I did not find it entertaining. I understood every political message it had. And share the politics of the show. I just didn’t find it to be a show that I enjoyed. So I didn’t watch it past the first couple episodes.
The problem is FOMO—fear of missing out. Not diversity. Not inclusion. But fans don’t realize that it’s ok to not consume everything from a franchise. That doesn’t make it bad. It just makes it not FOR YOU.
And saying that the work is bad because of “Wokeism” and “bad storytelling” (which is subjective), sounds like a YOU problem. If you can come to me with an objective take, I will engage with it. I’m not saying these new things are above criticism. But the problem isn’t that it’s “woke”.
