Heartless and Heartbroken
Tumblr media
Pairing: Regina George x newplastics!fem!reader
Contains: a whole lot of Angst. The d slur is used like once, Regina being hateful to reader, Reader is a new student and becomes a former plastic. (There is no revenge involved though) I think that's it
Summary: being a new student at North Shore meant endless bullying and comments. That is until Regina and her squad walks up to you one day during Lunch.
The hallway is filled with students trying to get to their classes or some not giving a shit. You attempt to get to your first class, Chemistry. Once you walk in there many eyes stare at your figure as you try to head to your seat quickly. "Wait right there young lady! Class, this is our new student Y/n Y/L/N! We all hope you feel welcome here Miss Y/L/N!" The taller man at his desk who you assume was the Chemistry teacher announces rather loudly. You swear under your breath and give off a fake grin. You head to the back of the classroom where you see a beautiful Blonde woman stare at you. The first thing you noticed about her was her seductive smirk. She chuckles and turns back to the front chewing her pink bubble gum and typing something on her phone. The whole day sort of feels like a fever dream. You obviously had no friends just yet so you were trying your best not to look like a lost puppy trying to find their mom. As soon as you get home you fall down under your covers and drift off to sleep. You wake up to the sound of your mom calling you for school. How long did I sleep for? You question, you look at the clock and see it is 6:30 am. You rub your hands over your eyes and prepare yourself for another shitty day. After getting ready you head downstairs and grab an apple to eat on the way to school. You didn't have a car, but you DID have a bike. You didn't live much far from the school building so you got on your bike and headed to your location. Once you got there you saw a big crowd stood in place like they were frozen. You check to see what is going on and you freeze in place as well. There are 4 girls walking into the building. One of them being the girl who was smirking at you the day before. Who stood on her left was a girl with a cute face and Honey colored hair. Right beside her was a girl with dark brown hair who was just waving at everyone. Lastly on the blonde's right, stood a girl with strawberry blond hair who looked fierce but welcoming. "Those are the Plastics." A girl behind you says.
at a blink of an eye, it was already lunch time. You didn't have anywhere to sit so you just started heading your way to the girl's bathroom. "Hey sweetheart, come here" the blonde from earlier shouted out to you to get your attention. That caused the whole lunchroom to go silent. You look at the girl with a grin and realize just how stunning she is. She sits you down beside to brown haired girl and stares at you for a moment. "Hey, you're in my Chemistry class right?" You nod and she grins. "You're like really pretty." The blonde stares you up and down with a smirk. "Thanks." You reply with a soft smile. "So you think you're pretty?" The question confuses you a little bit. "I mean sure I guess?" You say with a questioned look. "Anyways, I'd like you to eat lunch with us for the rest of the week." The blonde looks in your eyes. You nod and she continues. "This is Gretchen." Regina points to the honey colored hair girl. "This is Karen" Regina eyes the brown haired girl and Karen waves at you with a giddy smile. "This is Cady" Regina points to the strawberry blonde. "And my name is Regina George." Regina holds out her hand and you shake it happily. Gretchen sets the rules of the table and what you can and can't wear on certain days. Having Regina and the plastics by your side wouldn't be that bad after all.
After the next few weeks you start to get closer to the girls. Karen, was the sweetest out of all. She was caring and was just overall so cute. Gretchen, was also nice but she could not keep a secret to save her life. Anything anyone in the plastics did Gretchen would run to tell Regina about instantly. Cady was pretty cool and she seemed to be a big people pleaser. You didn't mind that very much at all. Regina however was the meanest out of all. She was the main one of the group and controlled all of you. She was flirtatious and soft until you do one small thing and that is thrown in the garbage. She was very cold and pushy towards you and would treat you like a little dog. It hurt at most times but you remembered that if you didn't have Regina you would be the bottom of the food chain and would've been eaten alive by now. There were times where you could share deep things with her. She never did herself but you felt happy to be somewhat close to her. You also couldn't help but notice the growing feelings you had for her. She was undeniably gorgeous and you could stare at her all day if you could. You tried to deny those feelings but nothing helped. You ended up telling Cady about your feelings for the blonde because you know Gretchen would run away behind your back and tell Regina and Karen would just look at you confused and ask multiple questions. Cady helped you through these feelings and promised to never tell Regina. You thanked Cady and was so grateful for her. After days went on you couldn't hold it in anymore. Regina continued to tell you she loved you and stuff but you knew she meant it in a platonic way. Not any way you truly wanted.
"Get in loser." You heared Regina yell out as school ended and you were walking out of the front doors of the building. You see Regina standing infront of her jeep with the keys in her right hand. It seemed it would only be the two of you since Karen had tutoring until 5 and Gretchen's mom picked her up early because she ran the flu. You get in the passengers seat and stare into the sun. "What's up with you Y/n?" Regina asked while she still keeps her eyes on the road infront of her. "I dunno, I guess I'm just tired from school." You lied. You were nervous that you were alone in the car with Regina. This has never happened.
You both arrive to her mansion and she get out of the vehicle. You hop out too and grab your school bag. Once you both got inside you greeted her mom and Regina just ignores her and leads you both to her room. You lay on Regina's bed and stare at the ceiling. Regina does as well and you stare at eachother. Regina leans in a bit and you get nervous but try to relax. "Wanna know something baby?" Regina whispers as she caresses your cheek. You hum and she continues with her sentence. "I think you're pretty cool. I know I don't say it a lot but I think you are." You are surprised with her answer. Regina begins to climb lntop of you and brushes her lips against yours. "Can I kiss you?" The girl asks. You nod instantly and she kisses you roughly. You reply and play with her hair. She eventually moves away and looks at you. "I like you Y/n, there's something different with you." Regina says as you sits back up. "But I could never like you like that." Regina looks at her phone and starts texting someone. You get confused and before you say anything, Regina answers your unasked question. "Gretchen told me. She overheard you and Cady talking and told me you had a little crush on me. I think it's honestly sad how you think you could get me to like you back. I'm not some fucking Dyke Y/n. Get a life." Regins chuckles and you feel yourself start to tear up. Fucking Gretchen. You grab your thinks and leave the mansion. Regina doesn't follow after you so you start to cry more. You call your mlm and ask her to pick you up and you spend the rest of your night cuddled up in your bed crying your eyes out. You were heart broken. You felt so stupid. You knew that kiss wasn't something special. Regina was a heartless peice of beautiful shit who made you believe you were special. You called Cady and she stayed with you the whole night until you felt somewhat better. You had to prepare yourself for the next school day you had to face your 'friend' again.

Summary: Chris is invited with the 118 to Denny's birthday party and he has a great time, until things start to overwhelm him. Then a meltdown ensues.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
A smile lit up Christopher's face and he reached his arms out towards his dad, pointing up at the present that Eddie was just about to get out the boot of the truck.
"Be careful then," Eddie handed the present down to Chris, guessing that he wasn't going to be using his crutches today by the look of things.
He grinned madly and took the rather light box that rattled whenever it moved. Chris had taken the liberty to pick some dinosaur wrapping paper and he had stuck the large green bow on top of the present after he watched his mum expertly wrap it up ready for Denny. And Chris wanted to be the one to carry it in and give it to his friend on his birthday.
Hen had asked all of the team if they wanted to come over for Denny's birthday party today. She knew Chris would panic if there were a lot of other kids here who he didn't know and because Denny was very set on Chris coming along, they only invited two of his close friends from school. Chris knew everyone at the squad so he was comfortable around them and he knew Athena's son Harry who he was also comfortable around.
It was a close knit party which is just what everybody wanted and needed and Chris had been excited about this for the past three days since he found out they were coming here.
"Remember, don't tell him what the present is," (Y/n) kissed the top of Chris's head as the three of them set on a slow walk up the drive towards Hen's house. The last time Chris went to a friend's birthday, he had been very excited to give the present over but he accidentally told his friend Andrew what they had bought him. Andrew didn't care, he had laughed and still looked surprised when he opened the gift, but it was a gift and it was always nice to have a surprise present.
She felt Eddie's arm loop around her waist as they approached the door and he gently grabbed Chris's shoulder after he knocked on the door. Chris had a tendancy to try and walk in houses without or straight after knocking, he didn't quite grasp the part about waiting to be invited in. He thought it was like with his own home or his grandparents house, he could go straight in and the door would be unlocked and people would welcome him in.
"Hi! Denny will be thrilled you're all here, come in." Karen opened the door, a wide smile on her face as she ushered them inside. "Everyone's out in the garden."
They followed Karen down to the kitchen and out the back door where the noise level raised and the chaos ensued.
There were a lot of balloons tied around the fence, to the few tables outside and placed around the garden with weights to keep them from floating off into space. A banner of Happy Birthday was pinned against the fence on the right side of the garden above the buffet table.
(Y/n) could see something that would grab Chris's attention towards the back of the garden. A paddling pool. Chris was very sensory and he loved the swimming pool, if they weren't careful he would be straight in there in his clothes and they wouldn't be able to get him out. And next to the pool was a sandbox that was usually closed up but today was wide open with spades and buckets and a signpost that (Y/n) couldn't read from this far away.
They didn't get very far before Denny spotted them and it was heartwarming to see his bright smile when he realised Chris had finally arrived. Chris was the person he was desperate to be around and play with.
"You're here!" He bounded over to them, almost stumbling when Chris pushed the present out towards him with a cheesy grin and his eyes almost closed.
"Happy birthday,"
"Thank you," Denny carefully took the present and looked up at his mum who nodded and took it from him so it could be put with the rest of the presents inside for him to open later.
"It's lego."
"Chris!" Eddie tilted his head back and brought his hand up to rub his eyes, trying to smother his groan with a laugh. He knew it. He just knew Chris wouldn't be able to contain the excitement and keep the surprise. When it was his own birthday, Chris loved surprises and opening presents but for anyone else, he had a fixation on telling them what it was.
Leaning back, Chris pushed his shoulders back into Eddie's legs and tilted his head back, giggling up at his dad as he bit down on his thumb.
"Come on, mum's gonna open the scavenger hunt," Denny took Chris's hand and walked slow enough so they could trot side by side towards Hen, Harry and two other friends from school. They were all stood near the sandbox that made Chris's eyes light up.
"Scavenger hunt?" Eddie tucked his free hand into his back pocket as he and (Y/n) followed Karen over to where Athena, Bobby, Chimney and Maddie were all sat with drinks and the radio blasting music.
"Hen's buried sweets and little fidget toys in the sandbox. They'll have to dig around for buried treasure. And Buck, being the big kid that he is, has decided to help supervise them." Karen gestured to the drinks table near the rest of the team so they could help themselves to something. All of them knew that Buck would be the one to join in the games and the fun with the kids. He was a child at heart, a kid trapped in an adult's body. It was why all the kids were drawn to him and loved him playing around with them.
"One sec," Leaning over, Eddie kissed (Y/n)'s temple before he jogged towards the sand box where the kids were all eagerly looking round. They were waiting to be told when they could get in and start digging as Hen was going through the rules of the treasure hunt. "Buck,"
"Yeah?"
"Can you keep an eye on Chris while he's in there?" He pointed towards the sand, already feeling the unease washing through him.
"Don't worry, I know where all the treasure is," Buck winked and clapped his hands, he wasn't getting what Eddie meant.
"No… he's got pica and sand is sensory, he'll try and eat it if you don't watch him. It's a different texture."
Chris had been diagnosed with Pica when he was three, it was a condition that meant he would try and taste, eat or just put random things in his mouth that weren't food. He understood he couldn't eat things like sand or mud or paper but they were so sensory that he couldn't help putting them in his mouth. Chris did it for the texture, not to try and eat them or because he was hungry or desperate. It was a fixation, a sensory feeling, putting things in his mouth was Chris's way of getting a sensory fix and feeling textures.
Eddie had had a lot of arguments with Chris's last school when they didn't watch him closely and Chris started to eat the sand and either made himself sick or it came out in his nappies as a child. It wasn't safe or nice for him and he had to be watched.
When he was five (Y/n) had been doing the washing and Chris came up behind her and stuffed a handful of wash powder in his mouth because it felt grainy and fluffy and itchy. It was a bi sensory feel in his hand and he automatically put it in his mouth, then threw it up.
"I'll watch him." Buck grinned and nodded as if it was no big deal or nothing new and it made Eddie relax. The team never seemed surprised or shocked or put off when they learned about Chris's conditions, especially Buck. He took it all in his stride and he strived to make Chris comfortable and understood and help him however he could.
When Hen said the boys could start digging, Buck reached down and picked Chris up and sat him down in the left corner of the sandbox, right near a bag of sweets he knew Hen had buried there. She had planted enough so that each kid could get at least two mini bags of sweets or a little fidget toy.
"Find me some treasure," He whispered to Chris as he kneeled down on the grass beside him with Hen a few feet away, watching the other four kids.
With a smile, Chris tucked his left hand down into the sand and spread his fingers, curling his fingers to his palm and spreading them again to move the sand and get the sensory feel. He held the dark blue plastic spade tight in his other hand and started to pat and scrape at the sand until a mini pack of Haribos was uncovered.
"Uncle Buck's treasure," He giggled and tossed the pack onto Buck's lap, grinning when he turned to look over at his parents.
He could see Eddie giving him a thumbs up and (Y/n) smiled at him from where she was sat on Eddie's lap.
Tilting forward, Chris dropped the spade and rolled until he was laid on his stomach on the sand with his legs kicking out behind him. He burrowed his hands down into the sand, grabbed fistfuls and pulled his hands back up. He watched, fascinated, as the sand fell through his fingers like droplets of rain.
He grabbed some more sand and tipped his head down until his chin was perched on a mountain of sand. His lips parted in a cheeky smile and he locked eyes with Buck just as he poked his tongue over his lower lip towards the sand.
"Ah-ah, your dad told me what you're like. If you wanna try something, try a sweet." Buck held a sweet out towards Chris who kept laughing but took the bribe anyway.
(Y/n) tilted her head back on Eddie's shoulder, nuzzling her face into his neck as she looped an arm around the back of his neck while her free hand held her cup of juice. She crossed one leg over the other, trying hard to focus on the conversation but she couldn't keep track. All she could focus on was Eddie's hand that had drifted up beneath the hem of her dress and kept gliding higher and higher up her thigh.
And when she looked over his shoulder every now and then, she could see Buck laughing at Chris who was spraying sand everywhere along with Harry. It looked like all the boys had found the buried treasure they had been digging for.
"Alright, who's up for musical statues?" Hen gave a sceptical look around the team who were all sat chatting and watching the kids have their fun in the sand box.
"I'll control the music," Bobby tapped the radio that was sat next to him and caught the CD that Hen expertly tossed over to him. He wasn't so good at musical statues but he could be fair and impartial with the music and turn it on and off for the kids.
"Up, up up you lot. You can all join in,"
A few groans rumbled past their lips but all of them got up and moved towards the centre of the garden as the boys hurried over. Chris stood so he was facing both parents, stood near to Denny who was clapping and smiling in anticipation. And (Y/n) shared a look with Eddie, they both knew Chris wasn't very good at this game and he probably wouldn't try to play, he would just go along with the music.
"Okay, when the music stops, you all freeze. Anyone still moving when it stops is out. Off you go," Karen stood in front of them all, playing the role of referee as Bobby started the music.
As predicted, Chris seemed to switch off to the rules and what was happening and he went into his zone with the music.
The CD was a new pop chart with all the latest music and it was Chris's sort of thing. He held his arms out at his sides and started to shake his hands, a new stimming technique he had picked up recently. He didn't exactly move his legs or his feet but he swayed and rocked back and forth very rapidly like he was being blown about by the wind.
Every few seconds, Chris did a quick round of clapping before he went back to shaking his hands and laughing. This was his sort of party game. It wasn't often that other people danced with him and when he looked up and saw his mum and dad dancing, it made him squeal. Whenever he clapped, his mum rose her hands in the air and clapped with him and he could see his dad mumbling along to the lyrics while his hands were on (Y/n)'s hips.
Maddie and Chimney stood near them, waving their arms up and down and bending down to shimmy and sway along to the beat like they were doing a new dance routine they had memorised.
Buck was dancing with the boys and Hen, and Athena and Harry were towards the back clapping and swaying about to the beat.
As soon as Bobby paused the music, almost everyone stopped.
(Y/n) kept her arms high in the air and tried to tense her elbows so she didn't move or waver. She could feel Eddie's chest pressed up into her back and his fingertips squeezed into her hips as he tried to stay perfectly still behind her. But when both their eyes moved to lock onto their son, they grinned.
Chris was still rocking. He had his eyes snapped closed, his thumb between his teeth morphing his grin and he was almost violently going back and forth as his other hand was stimming and shaking at his side. He didn't quite grasp the rules and he didn't want to stop, he just wanted to dance and move about and have everyone laughing and dancing along with him.
"Chim, you're arm moved. You're out."
"Damn," He stomped his foot into the ground before he moved over towards Bobby to sit with a drink and watch the game plan out.
Karen looked between Chris and his parents for a second, a bright smile on her lips as she turned to check everyone else before Bobby pressed play. They couldn't tell Chris to stop dancing and sit out, he was having too much fun and he wasn't trying to play a game or win the game. He could keep dancing away and rocking in the corner, they would continue the game around him.
The music continued for a little while, Bobby timed it just right to stop the music when Harry and Athena were in the middle of their jam session and both of them wobbled on their feet before stumbling two or three paces.
They were out.
Right as the music stopped for a third time, Buck was in the middle of his dance, one leg up in the air and his arms out at his sides. (Y/n) gasped, holding her arms out when he stumbled on his back foot and fell towards her. His arms swung out, grabbing (Y/n)'s shoulder and taking her down like a domino. She slipped and felt her back knock into Eddie's legs, swiping them from under him so that he went down with them.
"I'm afraid you're all out now," Karen leaned over them with a grin and (Y/n) sighed dramatically, flopping her head onto her husband's chest.
With a manic laugh, Chris finally stopped dancing and trotted forwards until he could slump down onto Buck's chest.
"You lost Buck,"
"Have you had enough, baby?" (Y/n) tilted her head to the side as she looked up at Chris when he walked over to them.
All the boys had been sat very close to the buffet table in case they wanted seconds. They had been sat in a big circle on the grass to have their dinner while the rest of the 118 were in the chairs near the radio, finishing off their food.
(Y/n) knew Chris was a fussy eater and if he looked at the buffet, there would be too much choice for him and he wouldn't be able to choose anything, it would overwhelm him. So she had gone along the table, picking out a few tiny bits that she knew he would definitely eat and grabbed the pack of crisps from her bag she brought. He was particular on what kind and brand he would eat.
"Finished," He whispered quietly, handing over the plate so she could see he had eaten at least half of what she had put on the plate, and all the crisps she gave him.
"Good boy," (Y/n) put the plate down on the grass next to her and opened her arms so he could sit between her legs. She was sat down between Eddie's legs, her head resting on his thigh and his legs squeezing her sides lovingly. Every now and then he kept leaning down to kiss her head or card his fingers through her hair.
She curved her arms around his middle and pressed her lips to the top of Chris's head, swaying them side to side between Eddie's legs.
"You okay?" (Y/n) whispered quietly into his hair when she noticed his hands that had come up to hold her arm were twitching. He was trying to stim, he didn't usually do that when he was having a cuddle.
"Hm,"
"Mum said we can go in the pool, are you coming?" Denny hovered by the side of them, a hopeful look on his face that brightened even more when Chris grinned. He had been waiting for them to say he could jump in the pool ever since he noticed it.
"Yeah… mummy?"
Chris turned around in (Y/n)'s arms and lifted his arms towards her so she got the silent message. She smiled down at him and gently lifted his top over his head and put it down next to her bag that had all of his things in.
"You can go in your shorts baby, I've got spare clothes in the bag," (Y/n) didn't see the point in Chris taking off his shorts and sitting in his underwear when he could just get them wet and change into the spare outfit she had packed for emergencies or food disasters.
With a lasting look towards his parents, Chris swiped off his glasses and dropped them onto Eddie's lap before Denny took his hand and they headed towards the paddling pool. Eddie rolled his eyes and hung the glasses around his neck to keep them safe. The last time Chris had put them down and forgot about them, Eddie had sat on them and broke them. He wasn't making that mistake again.
Chris flopped into the water like a penguin sliding off the ice and the moment he was sat up in the water, he threw his arms out and splashed the water until it was spraying around him and bubbles started to appear between his fingers. He wasn't expecting it to be so cold but the shivers it caused and the way it made his legs jerk had him in fits of giggles.
When one of the other boys jumped into the pool rather close to him, Chris shuffled back until he was in his own little corner of the pool. He smiled when Denny handed him one of the spades from the sandbox so he could splash properly and flick the water up.
He shovelled up the water and started to stim, flicking his wrist so the water sprinkled slowly over the edges of the shovel and rained down onto his legs.
As soon as another boy started to skid and jump around the pool, Chris turned to the left so his side was pressed up into the plastic edge of the pool and he was facing away from them.
They were starting to become rowdy.
They were laughing and babbling too fast for Chris to understand what they were talking about and he didn't really want to know either. He wanted to listen to the CD playing over near his parents but even the songs sounded much too fast. It sounded like they had been sped up and the volume wasn't loud enough, he wanted it louder to drown out the sound of everything else.
He could hear beer bottles clinking together and a lot of gruff laughter and one of the boys he didn't know was shouting along to the music, ruining the song for Chris.
Chris tipped his head down and started to rock back and forth, trying to concentrate on the music he could barely hear over the loudness of everything else. His fingers tightened around the spade and his blurry eyes moved until he could see a bright green balloon a few feet from the pool.
Hen had blown up some normal balloons and put them around the garden in case the boys wanted to play with them or play throw and catch or kick them around. Chris liked balloons, he liked it when his dad would play don't let the balloon touch the floor with him and they would jump up on the sofa to hit the balloons around.
Someone popped one.
Lurching forward, (Y/n) felt Eddie's hand tighten on her shoulder and she turned around between his legs. She leaned her arms up on his thigh and pushed up between his thighs as his arm moved around her shoulders as he turned to look behind him over at the pool.
Chris didn't like loud bangs, especially not balloons popping.
"Boys, be careful please-"
"Christopher no!" (Y/n) thrust her drink out towards Buck who was sat next to Eddie before she stumbled to get up and hurry over to the pool.
As soon as another balloon popped, Chris screamed. He started to slam the spade down into the water causing waves to roll around his legs and water to sprinkle up around him. He whacked the spade down so fast and repeatedly that he started to hit himself in the knee and the thigh but he didn't care. Another scream left his lips as his eyes screwed shut and he bashed back and forth, waving his hands out at his sides.
"Baby I'm here, mummy's here it's alright. Give it to me," Reaching the pool, (Y/n) knelt down beside the edge and reached over to try and grab the spade off him, he was making his legs blotchy red and sore.
His scream pierced through her ears and when she grabbed his hand, he jerked his arm back and accidentally smacked the spade against her neck. (Y/n) leaned back, swallowing a hiss because she knew Chris didn't realise he had caught her, his eyes were still shut tight.
She pulled it out of his hand and tossed it out the way on the grass before she tried to wrap her arms around him and calm him down. She didn't want him to have a full meltdown here, not when he'd been having such a good day so far and enjoying himself. He rested his forehead against her shoulder, but only for a second before he started to thrash his head into her arm and moved his hands to scratch his nails up and down his arms.
"Come on,"
"NO!" He kept rocking back and forth and moved to kick his legs out when (Y/n) tried to pick him up.
He couldn't keep having a meltdown in the pool, (Y/n) had to get him inside so he was somewhere quieter, safer and secluded so no one could see. It wasn't fair for everyone to see him like this and it was Denny's party. But (Y/n) could already hear the music had been turned off and everyone was as quiet as a mouse. No one moved closer and all the boys got out the pool but stayed close in case there was something they could do to help.
None of the boys, or even the team, had ever seen Chris get overstimulated and go into a meltdown before.
"Eddie…" (Y/n) looked up at him with pleading eyes as her husband hurried over beside her and leaned over the pool.
"One, two, three." They carefully took an arm each and stood up, pulling Chris out of the pool and lowered him down onto the grass. "Good lad," Eddie muttered when Denny silently handed him a towel.
Eddie knelt down beside Chris and held both Chris's wrists out in front of him with one hand while he draped the towel around him with the other. Once it was tight around his body, he let go of Chris's hands so he couldn't scratch himself anymore. As soon as it was around him, (Y/n) picked him up and got to her feet. She shivered at feeling Chris scream into her neck and she could feel his nails puncturing into her back from how tightly he was clinging to her but she didn't care.
Her eyes stayed on the ground as she tried to be quick, rushing from the pool towards the house to get him inside and away from the party.
"I'm sorry, I think it's an overload, he's had too much stimulation," Eddie looked at Hen with an apologetic smile while he leaned down to grab (Y/n)'s bag so he could take it to her.
"Don't be sorry, he's not done anything wrong."
"You can turn the music back on and carry on, don't let this spoil their fun. Once he's calmed down he'll be fine." It wouldn't be fair on Denny and the boys if they kept the music off and effectively stopped the party. They were all having fun and the party wasn't over yet, they could go back to their games.
This was normal for Chris and it didn't mean anyone had done anything wrong. He had too much stimulation with the sand, the games and the water and then all the different noises and music. He needed a quiet zone to calm back down and go to normal again.
Slinging the bag on his shoulder, Eddie tried to smile at them all and waited for Bobby to turn the radio back on before he headed over to go in the kitchen where (Y/n) had gone.
"Shh, alright baby, mummy's here."
(Y/n) leaned her back up against the kitchen cupboard and bent her knees out to the sides to accomodate Chris who was curled up between her thighs. He burrowed his face into her stomach and kept his hands pressed tightly over his ears. His knees were bunched up to his stomach, the towel was wrapped around around him and (Y/n) was slowly swaying them from side to side.
"Daddy's back, look," Her hand rubbed up and down Chris's arm and she tried to nudge him to look over at Eddie who knelt down in front of them.
He rummaged around in the bag until he managed to find the dark green headphones tucked away in there. They were large oval headphones that were noise-cancelling for emergencies like this. If they were out in public and the music or the voices were too loud and overwhelming, they could slip these on Chris and he would calm down and wouldn't have to leave.
Eddie carefully nudged Chris's hands away and put the headphones on him before he tilted his chin up so he could kiss his forehead.
He dug back into the bag and found the purple dinosaur crammed at the bottom. The moment he held it out towards Chris, his eyes stopped darting from side to side and he gingerly took the teddy, pulling it into his slightly damp chest and binding his arms around it.
"There we go, all better." Eddie shuffled around from his knees to sit down on the floor just in front of them.
He spread his legs out around either side of (Y/n), caging her thighs between his and he looped his hands under her legs and lifted them up. He gave a small tug and pulled her closer until her legs were hooked around his waist and Chris was curled up between them. Chris moved down so his head was on (Y/n)'s thigh, arms still bound to his teddy and his legs splayed out over Eddie's thigh.
The shaking subsided quickly with (Y/n)'s fingers running through his hair and Eddie's hand smoothing up and down his arm, coaxing him into a rather sleepy state. He had exhausted himself.
Reaching out, (Y/n) curled her fingers around Eddie's hand, smiling up at him until he closed the gap between them and pecked her lips.
"Hey, how we doin' in here?" Hen held the door halfway open and leaned in, smiling gently down at the couple. When she peered her head a bit closer, she could see that Chris had his eyes closed and his thumb pressed between his lips. He was falling asleep.
"We're good, looks like we'll be heading home though." Eddie hadn't expected them to stay for hours today, he knew at some point Chris would either be too tired to stay or he would get fidgety and irritated and want to go home. They hadn't been expecting a meltdown, but at least it was over and he had tired himself out. They would have to suffer another bad mood later when they woke him up for his tea and bath but he would certainly be in bed earlier tonight.
"Are the boys okay?" (Y/n) tilted her head back and looked up at Hen, she felt bad for them, especially Denny, it was his party and he had to see Chris have a meltdown for the first time.
"Please, they're hyped up on cake sliding in and out of the pool. Everything's fine as long as Chris is alright. Denny's really enjoyed spending time with him."
Chris had had a good day, they would just have to be a bit more cautious next time.
Francis Drake Main Story
Translations may not always capture the exact nuances or tone of the original text. Expect grammatical errors.
This is a rough translation.
Blank, ageless, and suspicious blogs will be blocked.
Tumblr media
The next day, after the minor incident in town, I found Drake leisurely lying on the bench in the garden's gazebo.
Mitsuki: "Drake, is it okay for you to nap here? Isn't it almost time for work?"
Drake: "Hmm?"
He let out a tired voice as he removed the hat resting on his face.
(Hehe, he looks so sleepy.)
Draco: "Work! Work!"
Drake: "Is it that time already? *yawn*"
Hastily urged by Draco, who flew from somewhere, he stretched his hand towards me while yawning.
Tumblr media
Drake: "Mitsuki, help me up."
Mitsuki: "Fine."
I held out my hands to help him, but instead, I ended up falling on top of him.
Mitsuki: "Kyaa!?"
Drake: "Haha, you're such a clumsy little fawn."
Mitsuki: "I can't possibly compete with your strength."
(This position is embarrassing!)
I hurriedly moved away, and Drake also sat up on his own.
(He always does things like this unexpectedly.)
I desperately calmed my pounding heart after our playful interaction and suddenly noticed that he was staring at me.
Mitsuki: "Drake, is something wrong?"
Drake: "No, it's just that living on land like this feels kinda weird."
Thinking that he might be complaining, I asked.
Mitsuki: "Are you still not used to the mansion?"
Drake: "No, it’s not that. It's just that I've spent most of my life on the sea, getting into brawls, fighting to survive, and all that."
Drake: "But here, I have a home, a proper job, and someone to see me off and welcome me back."
Tumblr media
Drake: "It's so peaceful that it's almost dull."
(Drake?)
He let out a wry smile, perhaps feeling the gap between the past and the present.
Draco: "Time! Late!"
Drake: "Alright, alright. I'll be off then, little fawn."
Mitsuki: "Okay. Take care!"
I watched as he adjusted his hat and walked away, carrying Draco on his shoulder.
Tumblr media
Later, while doing chores in the kitchen, I remembered his words.
(He was just like Napoleon and Jean in his first life.)
(This might probably be the first time he's experienced a life without battles.)
I hadn't asked him in detail about his past, but occasionally, I could sense a chilling indifference in his voice, gaze, and gestures.
It was likely a facet of his character shaped by his previous life, but...
(He was known as a demon by his enemies back then.)
Tumblr media
Though he still seemed uncertain about his current life, I hoped his life would be calm and fulfilling, like a calm sea.
(But he didn't wish to be resurrected himself, so he might not know what would fulfill him.)
(Come to think of it, before...)
------------Flashback------------
Drake: "But if I had to forcibly say something I left unfinished, it would be to set sail and reach the ends of the sea, even if destruction awaits me."
Dazai: "A poetic and romantic dream for someone like you. Not fearing danger is what one would expect from a captain who has circumnavigated the world."
Drake: "Right?"
---------Flashback Ends---------
When Isaac asked him if there was anything unfinished from his previous life, Drake gave that answer.
(Reaching the ends of the sea?)
(Maybe it was something he was willing to risk everything for.)
This seemingly unfinished dream suggested that his heart was still drawn to the sea.
(Paris does have rivers, but there's no sea here.)
As I absentmindedly organized the empty wine bottles, I suddenly remembered something.
(That's right!)
Tumblr media
Mitsuki: "Sebastian, may I have one small empty bottle, please?"
Tumblr media
Sebastian: "Sure, but what are you going to use it for?"
Mitsuki: "Fufu, I'm thinking of making a sea."
I returned Sebastian's puzzled look with a smile, thinking of Drake.
(I wonder how Drake would react. I hope he would be even slightly happy.)
My heart leaped with excitement at the secret joy I had discovered.
After finishing my work at the mansion, I came alone to the Seine River for my meetup with Karen.
(I might have arrived a bit early. Karen doesn't seem to be here yet.)
While searching for her, I remembered our conversation from the other day.
------------Flashback------------
Drake: "Mitsuki, I might be meddling, but I don't think that kid will come."
---------Flashback Ends--------
(Drake said that, but...)
I couldn't tell if that girl was lying or not.
(A promise is a promise. All I can do is believe and wait.)
And so, I raised my head and waited for her to come.
However, even after the promised time had passed, she didn't show up.
The sun began to set, and the clear blue sky turned into twilight.
(Karen isn't coming.)
(I wonder if something happened on her way here. Maybe her mother's health worsened.)
I worried about various possibilities, but ultimately, I didn't know the reason.
(If nothing happened, that would be the best, but...)
I don't think that kid will come.
Drake's words kept replaying in my head.
If he was right and she had no intention of keeping the promise from the start, then...
(That's a little sad.)
I wasn't fixated on getting the money back. I was just a little down that she broke her promise.
I leaned against a street lamp and crouched down. Then, suddenly, my surroundings were covered in darkness.
Drake: "See, I told you. You believed and ended up losing."
I looked up, and there he was, shrugging his shoulders in exasperation.
Mitsuki: "Drake..."
Tumblr media
Drake: "How about I sweep away that gloomy feeling of yours, little fawn?"
He extended his hand to me.
Drake: "Care to join me on a boat date, Mademoiselle?"
Tumblr media
Mitsuki: "Wow!"
I couldn't help but squeal as I boarded the boat.
The stars twinkled like silver in the sky, and the reflected city lights shimmered on the river.
The boat moved through this scene as if it were a ship crossing the sea of the night sky.
Mitsuki: "The Seine River during the day was fun, but at night, it's magical and lovely."
Drake: "I'm glad you're enjoying it. Oh, but don't expect too much from my tourguiding skills, okay?"
Mitsuki: "In the first place, is it really okay for a boatman to be a tour guide?"
We exchanged smiles, and my mood had lightened without me even realizing it.
Mitsuki: "Drake, thank you for being considerate."
Mitsuki: "But you know, I don't really feel like I lost anything today. I chose to believe in Karen."
I said this, and he gazed at me intently.
Drake: "Looks like you always draw the short end of the stick, little fawn."
Mitsuki: "Huh? I don't think so."
Mitsuki: "The plan may have changed, but I'm having fun on this unexpected date."
Tumblr media
Mitsuki: "And I only said date because you mentioned it first!"
Drake: "Haha, it doesn't matter. Just think of it as a date."
My heart skipped a beat as Drake gently narrowed his eyes. But suddenly, his smile disappeared from his face.
Drake: "Hey, Mitsuki. That girl broke her promise to you, didn't she?"
Drake: "Then why aren't you even a little angry about being betrayed?"
Mitsuki: "Calling it a betrayal is an exaggeration."
I responded to Drake with a smile mixed into my words.
Mitsuki: "Karen mentioned that her mother was ill. Maybe something happened, and that's why she couldn't make it. Jumping to conclusions without knowing the reason is just unfair."
Drake: "What if everything was a lie, and she'd planned to betray you from the start?"
(..........)
His voice and gaze were serious, causing me to catch my breath.
As the silence enveloped us, the night breeze rustled our hair.
Mitsuki: "E-Even if it turns out everything was a lie, I still want to believe."
Drake: "You really feel that?"
I turned my gaze towards the water's surface, watching the flickering lights that swayed with the waves, and spoke again.
Mitsuki: “Even if she intended to betray me, even if she had bad intentions, that’s something she thought about and chose to do.”
Mitsuki: “I also chose to think and believe on my own, so I’ll stick to my decision.”
There might be times when I get hurt by being betrayed, but I don’t want to blame others based solely on my emotions without knowing what happened.
Mitsuki: “I believe because I want to believe. I made that decision myself, so even if I get betrayed, it’s fine.”
Tumblr media
Drake: “...........”
Mitsuki: “That’s why I won’t get angry with Karen. It does make me a little sad, though.”
Speaking my feelings aloud made me feel a bit better. However, when I turned my gaze towards him, he had a cold look in his eyes.
Drake: “You really can smile and say you don’t mind being betrayed, huh?”
Star Crossed Lovers
Summary: Buck has been into Eddie for years, he assumed his feelings were reciprocated, just the timing was always wrong. However, Eddie begins to date Ana and Buck begins to distance himself and begins to move on after meeting reader when Ana was expected to be introduced to the firefam
Word Count: 2128
Eddie had started to date Ana Flores and for some reason he was hesitant to introduce her to his family and the 118, he knows it probably has something to do with the way his heart flutters around Buck but he needs to think about Christopher and how his mom had reminded him that Chris needs a mother. He knew Ana was getting impatient and wanted to meet those close to him. He also started to notice that Chris seemed to get sad. Chris also stayed hidden in his room on Fridays and it was because Eddie would cancel Movie Night with Buck so that Ana and Chris can bond but Christopher seems to not want to bond with her. Ana told Eddie it might help if Chris sees that she is here to stay by having her meet the 118.
The day before the monthly BBQ at the Grant-Nash house Eddie looks at everyone sitting at the table eating, "Hey I'll be bringing Ana tomorrow is that ok?" Everyone looks shocked, they assumed the reason Eddie hadn't brought her over was because they weren't serious and Eddie would soon realize he is in love with Buck. Bobby is the first to recover and quickly looks at Buck who just continues to eat but looks down at his food, "yeah Eddie, she's welcome to come" and Hen and Chimney glare at Bobby while Eddie pulls out his phone to text her. Suddenly Buck gets up and leaves the loft, before anyone can follow him the bell rings. Since Christopher hangs out with Buck during the Ana/Eddie dates, Buck and Chris talk. Chris admits that Ana treats him like a baby and he doesn't like her but his dad won't listen and keeps trying to force them to have movie nights together. Buck also tells Chris that with Eddie and Ana becoming so serious, Buck won't be around as much as he used to but he'll always be a phone call away. Christopher understands, he knows Ana doesn't like his Buck, he heard her complain over the phone with her friend about how Buck is always there and the more her and Eddie date the more she is going to convince him to stop bringing Buck home.
The day of the BBQ Christopher is done getting ready and walks to the living room where his dad is waiting for him, "we need to go pick up Ana and then we will head over" Eddie explains and Chris just sighs and walks out the door. Eddie is able to tell Chris doesn't like Ana but he really hopes tonight will change that, maybe if he sees Buck accepting her he will too. Eddie feels a pit in his stomach though at the thought of Buck and Ana meeting each other. He kind of hopes they won't get along but he also knows he needs them to if he wants Ana to stop mentioning that he should stop hanging out with Buck. After picking her up they arrive at the Grant-Nash house and walk in. Right away Christopher goes over to Harry and Denny where they begin to whisper and all three boys glare at Ana, the adults not knowing that Buck had texted Chris and informed him that he won't be able to make it tonight. Chris knows it's because of Ana. Eddie notices the adults are all sitting and have their plates ready, "you're late" Athena chastises him. Eddie looks down, not wanting to explain it's because Ana took forever to get ready because she had to make a dramatic appearance. Eddie gets himself and Ana plates and sits down, he notices Buck isn't there and gets upset so he sits next to Karen. "Everyone meet Ana my girlfriend, Ana meet Karen, Hen, Chimney, Maddie, Athena, and Bobby" Eddie introduces. They all are pleasant with her but Eddie is able to tell they don't like her, especially Athena and Maddie who can't seem to stop glaring at Eddie for some reason. He is itching to text Buck and ask why he's late but he knows Ana will get irritated. After a bit of conversing he takes the plunge and asks, "where's Buck", everyone looks shocked, assuming Eddie would be the one to know. Chris who was sitting and eating with the other two boys hears his dad and says "he's not coming" before turning back to his friends. Everyone but Eddie (even Ana who can tell Buck's in love with Eddie) know the reason Buck isn't there is because he couldn't handle the heartache of seeing Eddie in a serious relationship. Karen decides to change the topic of conversation.
Meanwhile Buck is at the grocery store, buying ingredients so he can make Eddie's abuela's chicken soup, his new comfort meal. As he's going through the isle he accidently bumps carts with another person. "Oh I am so sorry" the person apologizes, turning to look at Buck. Buck immediately finds this person comforting and beautiful, "oh no my apologies!" They look at Buck and can tell something is wrong, "I know we don't know each other but how about we go get some Mexican food, you look like you need a friend", Buck looks shocked but ultimately agrees.
After the BBQ and grocery store day, Buck had told everyone (but Eddie) about Y/N, the quirky woman he met and how they were getting closer. Everyone was happy that he was beginning to move on. Chris could also tell there was something different about Buck but he didn't ask because nothing about them changed. He still made sure to make his dad drop him off at Buck's every weekend that Buck didn't work. Eddie was struggling, Ana wanted to make things more permanent by wanting to move in but he kept dodging it. He could also tell that Buck was talking to him but there was a distance between them now. They no longer basically sat in each other's laps, they no longer had lingering touches, they no longer hung out together after work. It was driving Eddie insane because he needed Buck in his life and although he knew he'd never have Buck in the way he wanted because Chris needs a mom, he still hoped they would still be close but it was beginning to seem like that was not the case.
----------------------
"We haven't had a day at the zoo, just you, me and Chris, so I expect us to go tomorrow, see you at 8am" Eddie tells Buck in the locker room on a Friday, it's been weeks since he's been with Buck in a nonwork related way. Ana had told him that he needed to prioritize her and he agreed because he knew he loved Buck but had to give Christopher a mother. Buck sighed, "You sure you want to come?" He asked surprised, he was planning on taking Christopher to a brunch place Y/N had introduced him to, so that Chris and Y/N could finally meet. He'd talked to both previously and they were both excited to meet each other. Chris was nervous about meeting Y/N because he was afraid she'd take his Bucky from him but Buck told him Y/N knew and accepted that Chris came first. Eddie nodded and walked away.
*Next morning*
As Eddie was getting everything ready for when Buck came to pick them up, Ana walked in, she was still trying to convince him to move in together but he was still saying no, he knew the moment he said yes, he would absolutely lose Buck forever. "What are you doing here?" Eddie asked surprised, before she could answer Chris walked out, excited for his day with both Dad and Buck, he missed these. As soon as he saw Ana his smile was wiped of his face, "I thought Ms. Flores wasn't coming" Chris asked, and Eddie knew in this moment that maybe Ana wasn't the best option for Chris. Maybe everyone had been right in telling him to follow his heart. He thought with time Chris would come to love Ana but the fact that he refused to stop calling her Ms. Flores and refused to spend time with her was a major red flag. After the BBQ Bobby had admitted that when he was talking about moving on, on the q word day, he was actually talking about Buck. Now though, he noticed that no one talked about Buck in his presence, when he was at work, it was all professional, he was losing his family thanks to his attempt to make his parents proud. He decided that after the zoo he would convince Buck to have Chris sleep over so that he could break up with Ana tonight. After, he would come clean with Buck about why he started to date her and admit that he actually loves Buck. "Where are we going" Ana asked happily, while also going to help Chris with his shoes even though he didn't need the help. "Buck and I are taking Chris to the zoo" Eddie tells her firmly, she looks at him with her lips pursed, clearly upset. "I thought we were going to take Christopher to the zoo next weekend" she asked. "NO THE ZOO IS FOR ME AND BUCKY" Chris yells and walks back to his room. "Maybe he shouldn't spend so much time with Evan" Ana told Eddie for the millionth time, she also refused to call him Buck, because "it's childish". Eddie sighed. Suddenly, Chris walked out of his room with his phone and handed it to his dad, "it's Buck, he wants to talk to you" and then walked back to his room. Eddie grabbed the phone, "hello" he asked confused, wondering when Buck would arrive to pick them up. "Chris mentioned Ana is coming? I figured we could just meet at the zoo instead then. I'm about to head over there instead since I was almost at your place, see you soon" is all he says before hanging up. Eddie gets upset, he was looking forward to finally being in Buck's jeep again like old times. Great, he muttered. "You're not coming, today is all about Chris and Buck. You and I will have dinner at around 8pm" is all Eddie says to Ana, she smiles thinking it's going to be a good night, in their many months dating, they've only slept together about 3 times, but she was patient, she didn't know it was because he felt like he was cheating on Buck. Eddie goes to Chris' room and explains it's just the 3 of them and that they would meet Buck at the zoo, which didn't lift Chris' spirit much.
When Eddie and Chris finally arrived at the zoo, at the entrance they noticed Buck was talking with someone, Eddie immediately got jealous. Buck spots them and frowns, wondering where Ana was. "Chris buddy! I have a very important friend here who's been wanting to meet you forever" Buck tells Chris. Y/N hugs Chris right away, "Christopher it is so nice to finally meet you! Listen, Buck told me about your fears but just know that if he EVER tries to put me before you, I will leave him right away! You come first! Also we're not official yet because I need to make sure I have your approval, so after the zoo just let me know if you approve or not and be completely honest, ok buddy" she tells him truthfully, which Chris likes, so he can tell he'll get along with her right away. "Oh Eddie, you haven't met Y/N yet, Y/N this is Eddie" Buck introduces his 2 partners. Y/N knows all about Eddie and Buck's unrequited love. She also knows he's finally healing and moving on from Eddie. Eddie gets jealous, has Buck found someone? When did this happen. "When did you meet" he can't help but ask. Buck gets flustered, he knows the moment he tells Eddie, Eddie might figure it out. "The day I didn't show up at the Grant-Nash get together, when you wanted to introduce Ana to all of us" he says.
That's when Eddie's world collapses. He realized the reason Buck didn't show up was because of the heartbreak of seeing Eddie with someone else, that same heartbreak Eddie is having by seeing Buck with someone. Eddie pushed Buck into the arms of someone else that unfateful day. Here Eddie was hoping to have a fun day at the zoo with his boys with the promise of tomorrow professing his love for Buck and asking him on a date, only to find out Buck has slowly began to move on from him after Eddie made his relationship with Ana serious by introducing her to the team.
Welcome Home | Chapter 12: It's a' Getting Closer
You never expected to live past your next birthday, let alone get magically sent to the 1890's. Nevertheless, here you are, stuck a hundred and twenty-ish years in the past... and in the care of a group of outlaws, at that. But as you slowly learn to make a life for yourself, you realize that maybe--just maybe--it isn't all bad. Maybe you can finally start living, not just surviving... something you never thought you'd have.
Oh, and then there's Arthur. He makes things a bit more complicated. Feelings and all that.
Ao3
///
The next morning, you wake up with one hell of a hangover. It's odd, considering you didn't drink all that much, but hey: you've always been a lightweight. One beer? Tipsy. Two beers? Drunk. Three beers? Uh oh. Four beers? Hospital time.
The aftermath of last night's alcohol makes you feel like you swallowed a mouthful of sand. You groan, sit up on your bedroll, and spit out some of the bad taste in your mouth. Your head is pounding. It's probably going to take a whole lot of water and whatever greasy food you can get your hands on to make it stop. Here in the 1890s, though, it's not like you can just go to the nearest Denny's for a hangover breakfast. You can only hope that Pearson at least has some bacon on hand.
The rest of camp is already up and about. You hear the girls chit-chatting as they work, Abigail scrubbing hard at a stain on somebody's shirt, one that's probably blood, while Karen and Mary-Beth argue about who's stuck with mending socks. Tilly is in the process of collecting eggs from the chicken coop, and Molly is... well, doing whatever it is she likes to do. She gives you a halfhearted wave when you catch her eye, then turns to a mirror and starts messing with her hair.
You wince as you slowly get to your feet. The sun, high in the sky, is far too bright for your liking. You must've slept in. You're honestly surprised that Miss Grimshaw let you, but when you see her, she doesn't snap at you to get to work. Instead, she gives you as much of a smile as she'll ever give anyone and goes back to yelling at Pearson.
Figuring out how to work your legs is harder than it should be, but eventually, you manage to stumble over to one of the tables. You sink heavily into a chair. Your head is killing you, and you slowly lower it into your arms. The darkness soothes the pain some, but not nearly enough. And to top it all off, you suddenly remember that there's no such thing as ibuprofen yet. Great.
You almost fall asleep again. Before you can, though, there's a dull thunk of a cup being set on the table, and a warm, calloused hand on your shoulder.
"C'mon," Arthur drawls from somewhere next to you. "Get some water in you."
You groan and don't make a move to lift your head. You've only just gotten the splitting pain to go down to a somewhat less splitting pain. You don't want to ruin that progress.
"I ain't above makin' you," Arthur says, amused. "Trust me: you'll feel better for it."
Then make me, you think. Even through the hangover, the idea kicks up your heartrate a notch.
Begrudgingly, you lift your head from your arms and take a sip of the water. Your stomach rolls like you're on a boat, and it takes all of your strength not to puke.
"I think I'm dying," you groan. "Actually: no. I'm already dead. You're talking to my corpse."
Arthur chuckles, his hand absently rubbing soothing circles into your shoulder. You don't think he's aware he's doing it, nor of the effect it has on you, and before you can stop yourself, you're leaning into his touch.
"You ain't dying," he says softly. Then, quieter: "Not on my watch."
You tilt your head back to look up at him. He's watching you with a fond, gentle smile—such a contrast to the ruthless outlaw he claims to be. It looks good on him. His fingers dig a little harder into your shoulder, carefully easing the knots and tension you've built up over the last few weeks. A sound escapes you. It's small, but the effect is immediate. Arthur's eyes widen just enough to let you know he noticed, and a flush starts creeping up his neck.
Mortified, you stand up so quickly that you almost trip over your own feet. Arthur reaches out like he's going to steady you, but you're already scrambling away.
"Gotta go help with stuff, sorry!" You call over your shoulder as you get as far away from him as possible.
You make a beeline for Abigail, who's still hard at work with the stained shirt. Before she can even say hello to you, you've grabbed her wrist, hauled her to her feet, and started dragging her towards a secluded spot in the woods not too far from camp.
"What in the goddamn hell, Y/N?" She demands, rubbing her wrist a little as you finally let her go. "I was in the middle of somethin'."
You're certain your face is burning as you struggle with what to say. Abigail takes a closer look at you, realizes that you're obviously distressed, and sighs.
"What happened?" She asks in a gentler tone.
"Well," you manage, "I, uh... I have a problem."
Abigail rolls her eyes, exasperated, but not angry. You can tell she's reaching into a deep well of patience. "You're gonna have to be more specific than that, Y/N."
You start pacing, twigs and leaves crunching under your boots. Where can you possibly start? How can you even begin to tell her what happened? There's no telling how she'll react to the truth, that Arthur massaged your shoulder and you made a sound that left little to imagination.
Dear God. You're screwed.
"I think I like Arthur more than a friend," you say in a jumbled rush.
Abigail stares at you for a moment, eyebrows raised, mouth slightly parted. You silently wait for your inevitable demise.
"You..." She says slowly. "You're just now figuring that out?"
All of the air leaves your lungs in a startled exhale. "What?"
"Y/N..." Abigail shakes her head, a smile slowly growing on her lips. "The only one who doesn't know you fancy Arthur is Arthur... and apparently you until now."
Your eyes feel like they're going to pop out of their sockets as you gape at her. But... you'd been so careful. You'd made sure that nobody noticed how you felt about Arthur, done your best to hide it since he found you in the Grizzlies. And now for Abigail to tell you that it's all for nothing?
Uh oh.
"He can never know," you say.
Abigail sighs. "Don't worry. He's about as dense as any man with this sort of thing."
Relief floods your body, and you sag against the closest tree. So far, crisis averted.
"But if you want my advice," Abigail continues as she kneels next to where you've crumpled, "I'd say go after him. Arthur's a good man, Y/N. He'll treat you right."
You're already shaking your head before she even finishes.
"I can't," you mumble. "I don't wanna ruin things... and I don't think he feels the same way about me."
Abigail chuckles and gently pats your knee. When you look at her, she's smiling.
"Don't be so sure, Y/N."
Cartman: Don’t think for a second that I wanted to be here, my mom forced me!
Cartman will be an ass when he first gets to your house
He'll knock down stuff in your room, throw things, and even steal when you're not looking
If you do see him stealing, he'll have a temper tantrum right there for you “accusing” him
Cartman says he won't eat food your guardian cooks. Yet, when the food comes out he's demeanor changes toward it
“Hmm, I guess I should try some peasant food... See what its like to be down he-ah while I'm up me-ah.”
Won't admit it but your guardian cooks way better than his mom
After dinner, you two would eventually start to get along while playing together
Building lego houses and playing with cars sure passed the time
Just as you two were laying down Cartman ruined the whole thing by bitching about the floor
“No, give me the bed right now you asshat! I swear, I'll fart right on your face when you sleep!”
Kyle was really excited to stay the night with you
His mom stayed a while to even hang out with your guardian since they were friends
You guys wasted no time starting to play and watch television together
Comfort and laughter were the only things you two felt and it was very obvious aswell
“Hey, Kyle, wanna play a video game?” you'd ask with a smile on your face
At dinner, Kyle thanked your guardian, for letting him come over
“Thank you for letting me hang out with Y/N this weekend. Also, the casserole looks great!”
Kyle eats the food, gets second helpings, and even gives compliments to the dish
Kyle can be an ass-kisser but that's why you got along so well. He was never mean to you or your family, therefore, you did the same
Although, it's hard to be nice when his mom's a bitch
When night came no complaints happened about the sleeping arrangements nor was anyone uptight
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
Kenny: *muffled* Thanks for letting me come over, I couldn't take it at my house anymore.
Kenny walked to your house as his parents didn't care to drive him
When he came inside you quickly wrapped him in a blanket and gave him snacks with a beverage before he could even say anything else
He's very happy to have you as a friend and will do anything humanely (and inhumanly) as possible to keep you close
You show Kenny where to get cleaned up and comfortable before walking down to inform your guardian he arrived
During dinner, he'll eat much more than anyone else. However, no one pays attention to it and lets him eat until he's full
If there are any leftovers he'll ask to save some to take to Karen in the morning
*muffled* “I wish my mom or dad cooked as good as this.”
When everyone's done eating you'll spend more quality time together
There are times when you see him staring at you or scooting closer for intimacy
Night comes soon and you guys get in your sleeping spots. Not even five minutes later, you feel Kenneth trying to scoot in bed with you to cuddle.
*muffled* “I missed you while I was on the floor.”
-ˋˏ ༻❁༺ ˎˊ-
Stan: wow, you still haven't changed you're welcome mat yet?
Stan would come over often to your house. It was relatively normal for him to ride the bus home with you
You guys would do homework, go outside, or just eat popsicles at your house until his father came and got him. The weekend was way different than the weekdays though.
Stan raced up the stairs to your room not even asking to come in there
He'll talk to you about the drama with wendy and ask for advice
When he gets done with his pity party you'll start in on your video game challenges together seeing who can kick who's ass
When the food was ready you both ran down the stairs and you no doubt thought about tripping him
“You know, this food would taste better with pepper.”
The rest of the night Stan would be talking to Wendy
You even considered bringing butters over instead
you tried to fall asleep but the sound of the couple laughing made you go crazy as you attempted not to punch your friend in the face
When the Water Runs Cold
summary: matt's gone missing after patrol, can you find him?
pairing: matt murdock x gn!spouse!reader
warnings: allusion to smut, angst, panic, blood, graphic descriptions of injuries, death, grief
word count: 1496
a/n: i have been extremely sad and very much in pain and you all will fall victim to my wrath.
part two here
-----
“Hey! Welcome home.” You smile as he presses himself against your back, a kiss to your jaw and his hands wrap around your waist.
“That smells yummy.” He whispers in your ear.
“Enough!” you slap his arm, giggling, “What has gotten into you? Go change, dinner’s almost ready.” He heads off to the bedroom to change as you pour out the meal on your plates. The two of you talk about your days over dinner, and he takes your plates once you're finished, washing them before joining you on the couch.
“How was work?” You ask, stretching your legs out on the couch. Matt gets closer, squeezing between you and the couch to hold you.
“It was okay.” That’s all he said before peppering kisses along your neck.
“You are insatiable!” You laugh at his actions.
“What? I can’t love on you a little?” He asks, standing up to carry you to bed.
“Depends on what loving on me means.”
“Don’t you worry,” he says with a smirk, laying you on the bed, “I’ll make sure it’s satisfying.”
-----
You wake the next morning, rolling over to cuddle further into Matt’s chest. But all you felt on his side was the cold indent of his body, but not him. Thinking he must’ve fallen asleep on the couch so as to not bother you, you roll over, trying to fall back asleep until you can't cure your need for him anymore. You get out of bed, hissing as the feeling of the cold floor against your bare feet, and walk over to the couch, rubbing your eyes in the process. Laying your eyes on the couch, you felt your blood run cold when it lay empty, pillows and blanket scattered from you and Matt last night.
You searched the apartment, what little there was to search, until you saw that his work bag was missing. He’d probably gone out to the office earlier than usual, maybe something he’d found last night had piqued his interest.
You shrugged, walking over to the bathroom to freshen up, settling yourself on grabbing a cup of coffee for the both of you and walking over to the office yourself, inevitably berating him for not waking you before he left.
You get dressed, stop by your favorite coffee spot and order both of your favorites, and then walk over to the office, only to be met by Karen and Foggy’s exasperated faces.
“Hey, is Matt in his office? I grabbed him some coffee. His briefcase was missing from the apartment.”
“Wait, Matt’s not at home with you? He left it here last night.” Foggy asks, rubbing his forehead.
“No, he isn’t.” You say, growing more worried, putting the coffees down to pull out your phone and call him. Nobody answers.
“It’s just that we’ve been looking for him all morning,” Karen shares, “we have a big case coming up and little to no evidence to back ourselves up, we were waiting for Matt. When was the last time you saw him?”
“Last night, when he-” you start, and begin to fear the possibility, “he left, said he’d go on patrol. I fell asleep, and he usually wakes me, even for a minute to tell me he made it home safe, but he didn’t last night and I- I have to go.” You hear shouts of your name but you can’t stop, rushing home to see if Matt had made it home again. In your haste, you remember that the two of you’d promised to share your location, moreso you convincing him for moments like this. It shows a radius on your phone, and your heart sinks to the bottom of your stomach when you realize you didn’t recognize the building he was on.
You run to the address blinking at you on your phone, and press on every single buzzer in the lobby, coming up with a shitty excuse before eventually one takes pity on you and lets you in. You rush to the top, where the roof access is, and you climb up, shouting his name. You spot his phone, but not him. Walking over to the phone, you notice the screen, cracked beyond belief, and covered in blood. Actually, the more you look around, there are little splatters of blood everywhere. You curse and cry, allowing the gravity of the situation to finally hit you.
Mahoney’s at his desk, rubbing at his forehead when he gets the call, Matt’s name flashing on his screen.
“Hello, this is Mahoney speaking.” He says, and you damn near sag with relief.
“Hi, this is Matt’s partner. I need your help.” He jolts out of seat, causing the other officers around him to jump, hastily writing down the address you’d said.
-----
“Sorry it took so long, traffic. What do you mean by ‘he’s missing’?” He asks.
“I can’t find him. This is his phone. He- he went out last night and never came home, I don’t think, and he didn’t go to work. I tracked his location and it brought me here.”
“Do you know what his patrol route is?” You shake your head.
“Well if he dropped his phone here and there’s blood, he couldn’t have gone far.”
He did, you and Brett searched for hours on different rooftops, not wanting to alert the police to your activities in fear of anyone finding out who he is. The two of you come to a rooftop with lots of skylights, so you decide to split up to check behind each structure. You’re just about finished with your end when you realize that Mahoney hasn’t moved for the past minute.
“Brett?” You call out, “what is it? What’s wrong?”
“Stay- stay over there.” He says, voice shaky. But you knew what he was looking at before he even opened his mouth.
“Brett, is that my husband?” You begin to walk over.
“You can’t come over here, you-” He’s interrupted by your cries. You scream his name, kneeling at the bloody heap of a body, the only recognizable thing being his suit, his head void of a helmet. You cradle his face in your lap, his face swollen beyond belief, his skin tainted red from his blood.
Matthew was very clearly dead, his body cold, and there was nothing that you could’ve done.
“Brett, I-”
“I can take care of it,” he says, eyes forlorn, “I can cover this up, give him the death he deserves without the world knowing who passed. I can keep his death and Daredevil’s death as far away as possible. I can-”
“Brett, can I just have a second with him?” He apologizes and nods, leaving you and Matt alone. It doesn’t sink in as you kneel next to his body, nor as you brush your fingers through his matted hair. It doesn’t sink in then, and although it will in the future, you let yourself imagine talking to Matt who’s just resting. You wipe your tears away, squeezing your hand around his.
“Til we meet again.” You choke out, the tears unable to stop.
You get up, walking over to Brett who has his head in his hands. You put your hand on his shoulder, giving him a sad smile.
“We always knew this could happen.” You say.
“Doesn’t make it hurt any less.” You spot a red object lying in a corner, mostly hidden behind a box skylight. Walking closer, you realize it’s his helmet, cracked across the forehead to the red lens.
“Oh my god.” You mutter. You take it, walking over to Brett.
“I can’t- no I can’t be here anymore, you gotta take me home.” You’re shaking now, so badly that Brett’s holding you up, the helmet in your hands. He takes his jacket off, wrapping the helmet in it to hide it.
The two of you wordlessly get into his car, and he drives you home, walking you to your door. You’re shaking still when you unlock your door, dropping your keys when you miss the keyhole. Finally you get the door open, stepping into the empty apartment. Brett hands you Matt’s helmet.
“I think it’s time I go.” He says, and he hugs you before he walks to the door.
“Brett?” He hums, “could you tell Foggy and Karen? I don’t- I don’t think I have it in me to do it.”
“Of course.” With that he takes his leave.
You stand in the middle of the apartment, a cold breeze causing goosebumps on your arms. You place his helmet on top of the chest where he stores- stored his suit, and make your way to the bedroom, where you lay on his side of the bed.
The silk sheets still hold his scent, and the mattress has an indent in the shape of his body. You haven’t fully processed what’s happened, and what’s going to happen in the coming days, weeks, years without him, but for now you find comfort in his invisible remnants.
Pillow Talk
Tumblr media
Summary | Keeping business and pleasure separate is a basic rule of life, a task Matt thought would be quite easy and straightforward. Turns out, it's not. He wants you, more than he's ever wanted anyone. The only problem is you're roommates. And wet dreams are hard to keep secret when the walls are thin.
Relationship | Roommate!Matt Murdock x fem!reader
Warnings | 18+ MINORS DNI definitely crossing some kind of contractual boundary, wet dreams, breeding kink, pining, yearning, some angst, a forbidden fruit type of relationship, masturbation, accidental voyeurism, daddy kink, orgasm denial (self-inflicted), Matt's a horny fuck who desperately needs to get laid
My work is not to be reproduced, translated, or copied ANYWHERE that is not my account.
Matt didn't think much of it when he walked by you on his way to a mostly empty apartment. By the sweet smell of your perfume and the slightly off tempo sound of your heels, he presumed it was a walk of shame from his neighbour. James was his name. Or it might've been Jack. Either way, James Jack was notorious for soliciting noise complaints in the building. The pink slips piled up in his mailbox to the point of the super putting a crate by his door. As insufferable as he was, he always paid his bills on time.
He didn't think much of it when your footsteps halted as walked to his door. Matt doesn't think much these days unless it's about his practice, Kingpin, or Castle. Lock the door, put down the keys, take off the jacket, and get a drink. Matt unwinded from his day in the exact same sequence of steps without fail. The routine was welcome in the mess that was his life.
But the hesitant knock on his door as he poured a glass of whiskey was not routine. He could hear your shallow breaths as you waited for him on the other side. The way you nervously shifted your clothing made him chuckle a bit. If he was more of a sadist, he might just leave you out there a little bit longer. But the rapid pumping of your heart forced the catholic guilt out of him and he put the bottle down.
“Hi are you Matt?” Your voice was like nothing he’d heard before. It was a breath of fresh air to hear you speak. Maybe it the lightness in your tone, almost as if you never experienced a day of darkness, that charmed him.
“Depends on who’s asking. ” You chuckled at his wisecrack, your nerves easing up with the pressure take off a bit.
“I’m here about the roommate inquiry you posted. I’m y/n, but my friends call me Honey.”
~~~
Although Foggy and Karen would disagree, Matt wasn’t particularly shallow. How would he know he was attracting beautiful women left and right? Even a world on fire, bursting with light, doesn’t make things crystal clear. That’s why Foggy was peeved upon finding out that Matt had a new roommate. A female roommate.
“Matthew, you’re such a slut!”
“Fog, that’s a little hostile don’t you think?” Matt adjusted the cuff links on his suit jacket with a sly grin on his face, knowing just how to push his partner’s buttons.
“Hostile? You haven’t seen hostile Murdock.” Foggy paced the length of the office, distress clear on his face. Matt enjoyed the even pacing of his footsteps, a calming sound amid the cacophony of the natural world. Then he stopped, his shoes squeaking ever so slightly on the tile floor.
Foggy walked with determination towards Matt, stopping at the foot of the desk.
“Do not fuck her.” Foggy waved a stern finger in Matt’s face, trying to make himself appear more seriously.
“I’ll have you know Nelson, I’m a very responsible man. I don’t mix business with pleasure.” Just barely a beat passed before Foggy burst out laughing.
“Up your ass Murdock. Even you can’t possibly believe that. Now go home. And don’t forget what I said.”
~~~
Since meeting you, Matt has found himself to be quite enamored with life. You just being there made the long days much easier. The two of you had similar work schedules, so you’d come home around the same time and hang out together. It was routine for the two of you at this point.
But this situation wasn’t without its struggles. Matt and you often found yourselves in awkward situations, many of them due to his disability and your forgetfulness. There have been times where you asked him to "Take a look at something", only to remember he was blind and beg the earth to swallow you whole. Matt found it hilarious of course but you never felt more mortified than in those moments. Well there was that one time Matt came home earlier than expecting, which was definitely the worst of them all.
You hadn't really considered the thought of him being home early. In fact, Matt had said the quite opposite to you that morning.
“Fog and I are working on this big case, so I’ll be back pretty late. So don’t wait up ok?
You hadn’t heard the door open, too caught up in your own world to notice it over the sound of the shower head. All of your toys had died, so there you were reliving the past with a shower head between your thighs. Believing you were alone, you didn’t bother to keep quiet in the slightest.
So as Matt walked through your shared apartment’s door, he heard everything. From the way you whimpered at the change in water pressure to how you begged for release between a string of curses, not a single word was unheard.
You hadn’t expected to see Matt sitting at the dining table when you exited the bathroom. The shock almost made you drop the towel you were wearing.
“Jesus fucking Christ Murdock. Can you try not to give a girl a heart attack?” Your heart beat rapidly in your chest when it dawned on you that he was home, and panic began to flood through your bones.
“Sorry Honey, my bad,” he chuckled.
“Um…how long have you been here?”
“Only a few minutes.”
Of the many things Matt was, a shit liar was somewhere near the top of the list. To the untrained eye, he was actually quite good at it. But when you spend almost every waking hour with someone, their tells become annoyingly obvious. As much as you appreciated his attempt to spare your feelings, this moment was a parasite, planting itself at the back of your brain to reek havoc at a later time.
Matt had begun to avoid you lately, much to your dismay. It was gradual at first, so you hardly noticed. He began to take more hours at the office every now and then, ruining your evening hangouts until they only happened by coincidence. Tonight was one of those nights.
While you sat on the couch in your pajamas waiting with baited breath, Matt paced through his office for distraction. He couldn’t fall asleep, he mustn’t. But his desperation was utterly useless. Flashes burned through his memory, making it increasingly difficult to focus. The sound of your begging, the screaming of his name, it was all too much right now.
“Matthew you look super stressed out, I think you need to go home." Foggy was worried about his best friend, who has never looked this distressed in the time he's known him.
"No!" Matt's tone made both of the men jump in shock.
"Sorry Fog. I just...I can't right now. I've got big things at stake at the moment." Matt ran his hands through his hair, ruining the perfect style he does every morning. Fog had no idea what to do, especially considering Matt wasn't exactly partial to friend therapy sessions.
"Well...can it wait until you go home and get some rest?"
"That's actually the problem. It's at home." Foggy stared in confusion for a few seconds before the pieces began to click, at least what he thought were the correct pieces.
"Are you and y/n fighting? Because you know technically she's in your apartment. She's practically a squatter." Matt laughed a little at Foggy's response, his best friend mentioning his disdain for you with every opportunity he got. Foggy was sure you were lovely, but anyone that took up Matt's time had to answer to him if shit went south. And Foggy hates when things go south.
"No Fog, no. It's actually the opposite. We get along so well that it worries me how much I like her."
"Woah, is that Matt Murdock opening up? Someone call the police." Matt punched Foggy in the shoulder, nearly sending the man flying.
"Fog, I'm serious."
"Well so am I. That's big for you. I'm sure she's not leaving you any time in the foreseeable future, so don't be an asshole and go home. And don't fuck her."
Lately, Matt wasn't so sure of how much liked that rule.
~~~
By the time Matt arrived home, you had long ago stopped hoping for him to come home early. There you lay curled up on the couch, snacks and wine scattered along the coffee table in preparation for a movie night. Your sleeping figured burned bright in his eyes, making the guilt of disappointing you eat away at his flesh. He covered you with a blanket to keep you warm and gave you a forehead kiss goodnight, promising himself to do right by you soon.
Now came the hard part of the evening: trying not to fall asleep again. As he undressed, Matt tried to occupy his mind with literally anything but you. But it was irritatingly difficult. The unfurling of his tie reminded him of the way your fingers burned against his as you taught him different ways to perfect the knot. Untying his shoes reminded of the way you giggled at the metal tapping of his heels as though he were a tap dancer. He couldn’t escape you even if he tried. But he had to, it was making him hard and that was beyond appropriate.
Matt wasn’t as strong of a soldier as he thought himself to be. Fighting New York City’s scum for hours at night, just to wash off the blood and go to work a few hours after made him tired quite often. He didn’t even last ten minutes before dozing off. Matt’s unconscious mind was both a place of utter bliss and unwavering guilt as of late. There were a reason he could barely be around you for the past few weeks. Every night the dream was roughly the same, but sometimes even he was surprised.
“Matt, I need you.”
“I know baby, I know.”
Matt knew his way around a woman’s body, much more than any man you’ve encountered. You begged for him to do something, anything really.
He nibbled at your skin, planting fresh hickeys that would serve as reminders every time you got dressed for the day.
“Matty please.”
His hands burned against every part of your flesh, all except where you really needed him.
“Are you gonna be a good girl for me Honey?”
Your affirmative response was cut off by the soft brush of his fingertips against your clit.
“You stop answering, I stop making you feel good. Alright?”
Your nails dug into his bicep for stability as you squirmed underneath him from the pleasure. His long slender fingers were soon replaced by his cock, nearly making you cum before anything really happened.
Words could barely form from your lips, too caught up in the way Matt made you feel. His whimpers as he praised you were music to your ears, confirming he was enjoying this as much as you were.
“You like when I fuck you like this? Isn’t that right Honey? You like when I treat you like the slut you are.”
All you could do moan in response, mumbling something along the lines of fuck yes. The second he hooked your knees over his shoulders, you saw stars.
“Honey, baby, wanna you cum for your daddy?”
Your cunt squeezed his cock like a vice, and Matt didn’t know how much longer he would last.
“Baby I need you to cum for me. Can you do that?” You said yes as well as you were able, tears streaming down your face. It didn’t take long before the two of you were orgasming together, Matt filling you up like his cum dumpster.
And then he woke up. Frantically, Matt listened for any kind of movement in the apartment. Upon hearing your steady beating heart and light snores, he let go of the breath he was holding. Perhaps the worst part of all of this was how often Matt had to do his laundry. Nearly every morning, he woke up to sticky thighs and sheets, a reminder of how terrible a roommate he was.
He didn’t mean to honestly. He never intended for any of this to happen. But the more he got to know you is the more attracted he became. That afternoon a few weeks ago was the final straw for him, even though he tried very hard to play it off. You didn’t know this, at least he hoped you didn’t, but he jerked off on the shower the second you left that night. It was at least 3 times if he were being completely truthful.
He tried his best to clean up and hide the evidence before you awoke. But blindness required him to rely mostly on faith. He managed to get to the bathroom just as you stirred, proving that for once God was on his side. Matt tried to get on with his morning routine without thinking about the tiny shorts you walked around in on the other side of the bathroom door. But asking someone not to think about a pink elephant sets up impossible expectations.
As quickly as he could, Matt left the apartment without making eye contact for even a second. He said it was some kind of “client emergency” but you knew better. Murdock was avoiding you full time now, almost like he was getting paid. It stung, it really did. The worst part is that you were sure it could be worked out if he just talked to you. But you knew as well as anyone who’s know Matt for really any amount of time that he wasn’t the heart-to-heart type. So, you swallowed your tears and searched for your Metrocard while waiting for the Keurig.
~~~
“Karen, is it just me or is Matt acting weird?” You heard some feedback on the other line as you walked through the wet city streets. It died as quickly as it came, your friend’s voice reaching your ears.
“Yeah…actually I’ve noticed it too.” You searched frantically for your keys as you walked, trying your best to keep your umbrella upright.
“Do you think it’s Daredevil stuff? Because we could help him with that.” Fear for his safety rose up your body, tasting like acid in the back of your throat.
“Nah I don’t think so. Tried to ask Foggy about it earlier but all he said was it’s ‘regular life stuff’, whatever that means.”
“That little fucker knows.” Karen laughed on the other side of the line. Every time you came home, you asked yourself why this building doesn’t have an elevator. And why the fuck did Matt choose the penthouse of all places.
“Of course he knows, they’re besties. Foggy would rather die than tell Matt’s secrets.” Ugh you hated their camaraderie. They were too good of friends right now and it inconvenienced you.
“Well, I finally made it back. I’ll figure out how we can get Fog to break and I’ll call you tomorrow. Okay?”
“Roger that. Goodnight Honey.”
“Night Karen.”
You were welcomed to an unusual silence when you unlocked your apartment door. Matt must be asleep. The only time it was ever this quiet was when he was asleep or absent. That man slept like the dead, it was scary to say the least. You dropped your keys and shoes by the door, heading to your room to unwind for the night.
After a quick shower, you got dressed and headed for the kitchen. The neurons in your brain fired rapidly to figure out what you could eat that would make the least amount of noise. But a sound coming from Matt’s room stopped you in your tracks. It was a moan.
Was he in pain?
“Matt? Are you okay?,” you whispered into the darkness. You heard no traces of rapid breathing, so you figured he was alright.
“Oh god.”
What the fuck? Matt doesn’t talk in his sleep. Like at all. You tried you best to ignore it, but then you heard your name.
“Honey…” It was something between a whisper and a moan.
What the hell is happening right now… you rush to his room, turning on the light to check on him.
A shift in his lower body caught your attention and suddenly everything clicked into place. He was dreaming…about you. That’s why he’s been acting weird.
“Honey, fuck. So good. Just like that.”
Matt’s hips ground into the mattress, his body searching for some kind of relief.
“Honey, I love when you fuck me like that. Wanna cum so bad baby.”
His voice was slightly muffled, but the word were clear enough to be interpreted. You’ve never heard him be so needy, it awoke something in you. Wetness pooled between your thighs and your pussy throbbed. This was so wrong, but you couldn’t look away.
“Such a good fucking girl. Cum for me, I know you want to.” Matt’s hips fucked the mattress like a man starved for pussy. It was so carnal. This was pure, raw need.
You stood at the door in awe, surprised he wanted you badly enough to have wet dreams. It was an innocent kind of desire, but one that was also highly depraved. The whimpers and gasps that left his lips while on the verge of orgasm made your heart flutter. Matt begged you to let him cum, mumbling about how good you felt wrapped around him.
“Wanna fuck a baby into you Honey. You want that cumslut?” A moan escaped your lips at his vulgar words, and fear made your cheeks heat up. He didn’t stir, much to your luck.
“Yes daddy, I want that.” The words left your mouth without so much as a thought, but the starving man before you seemed to enjoy it. You’ve never heard Matt curse this much in the entire time you’ve known him. And something about the divine breaking vows for you had heat stirring in your abdomen. The sacred turning profane was a wet dream in it of itself.
“Fuck. Oh God, yes.” By the desperation in his voice and the slowing of his hips, you could tell Matt was coming down from an orgasm. Logically, you knew this was your opportunity to leave unnoticed. But you were in a trance, much too enthralled to move a muscle.
It was only when Matt jolted awake and you locked eyes that you returned to Earth. His hair was a complete mess, his cheeks were flushed, and his thighs were sticky. You hated yourself for not having a camera in this moment.
“Honey… I-I can explain.”
The fear and guilt in his eyes from being caught almost turned you on more. It was sadistic, you knew that. You kicked the door closed, pulling your tank top over your head.
“Don’t explain, I don’t want it.”
Billy Russo x Unnamed Female OC
Warnings: Angsty & Fluffy; Fade to black; Fertility talks
Author’s Note: 2.5k Words; Minimal editing lol; First full length piece I’ve written for Billy Russo; This is just something small that took me forever to finish. Feedback always welcome (be nice pls i’m very sensitive) or any suggestions or prompts you’d like me to tackle!
▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️
The silence on the car ride home was unsettling. Neither dared to speak the first word out of fear of further escalating the argument . Of all the things they could possibly disagree on this was by far the last thing she expected. She huffs out a breath as she stares out the window reminiscing on the last year of their relationship and where she could have missed the signs.
Thinking back to the conversation earlier that started all of this, she can’t help but feel a sense of dread at where their relationship might be headed.
They had just had a late dinner with Frank and Karen. With the perfect mood lighting and the intimacy of the booth they shared, the happy couple had just announced they were expecting and the four of them were riding that excitement high. In no uncertain terms she and Billy were first in line for the title of godparents.
“Oh goodness this is so exciting, so many baby preparations to make!” Karen beamed at them all. You couldn’t be happier for the pair. When you first met Billy he shared his worries for Frank, that he might never allow himself a chance at happiness again after losing Maria and the kids. This news made them proud of all the growth Frank had experienced with Karen’s unconditional support. Everything was going well until Frank led the conversation somewhere she was afraid they wouldn’t recover from.
“You know it would be nice for this little Castle to have a bud to grow up with him,” a tell-tale smirk on his face “What about you two, when’s a mini Russo coming along?”
Both her and Billy couldn’t help but steal a knowing glance at each other.
“Soon-”
“Never-”
She damn near gave herself whiplash when she turned to look at him, and Billy wore the same perplexed look. Frank and Karen could only stare mouths slightly ajar, noting the tension rapidly thickening until Billy finally spoke up.
“I’m sorry, what do you mean by never?” He was a bit offended at how appalled she seemed to be at the idea of having kids with him. Meanwhile her mind was running a mile a minute trying to figure out the best way to navigate this conversation, in public…in front of their closest friends.
“I just never thought about that being an option for us.” She slowly brings her hands closer to her fidgeting with the cloth napkin beside her plate.
“Not an option? I’ve told you you’re it for me, how do you get ‘not an option’ from that?”
“Maybe this isn’t a conversation we should be having right now Bill.” The finality in her tone only frustrates him more and he can't stop himself from egging it on.
“So you want kids just not with me?” A wounded expression surfaces on his face.
“What? No, that's not what I said!”
“Bill, don’t push it, I’m sorry I asked-” Frank and Karen are slowly growing more concerned.
“It’s fine Frankie, how would I have known otherwise that my girlfriend doesn’t see me as parental material.”
She knew he was hurt and that he wasn’t thinking before speaking but his words stung no less.
“You know that’s not true, you're putting words in my mouth.” This was not how she wanted to end their night, “Can we please just talk about this at home.” She pleaded with him.
The rest of their dinner fell into an uncomfortable silence. Frank and Karen kept exchanging worried glances while you and Billy avoided looking at each other. Thankfully they were in the middle of dessert so there wasn’t much after paying the bill and bidding goodnight to the other couple.
Now here they found themselves, in a tension so thick it was suffocating. She had no idea how she was going to make him see her decision had nothing to do with him and everything to do with her.
Walking into their home she falls into step behind him tossing her stuff at the entryway table. She hears him ruffling through the kitchen so she makes her way toward it with very careful steps. She was afraid of what this conversation would mean for them. His back is to her as he stands stoically just staring at the open beer right in front of him. She could use some liquid courage herself.
“Are we going to talk about this?” Her voice is barely above a whisper.
“What is there left to say?”
“I’d like to think there’s a lot left to say.” She can’t help but quip back.
“You’ve made your feelings about a family with me pretty clear.”
“Have I or are you just projecting and trying to make me the villain?”
Now she was getting mad. It was one thing to be hurt, it was another to insinuate she thought so lowly of him. After the time they’d spent together she’d hoped he knew her better than that.
“You haven’t even let me explain a thing.”
He finally spins around to face her.
“You said you didn’t see that being an option for us. For us.” His scoff is harsh. “That implies you don’t see a family with me.”
“Well what else was I supposed to think Billy, you’ve never talked about wanting children and the way you respond to anything regarding your childhood never leads me to believe it’s something you’re interested in.”
“Wouldn’t you think that because of the way I was raised I’d want a chance to prove I could do better?”
“How could I, you’ve never initiated any conversation about parenthood! Why should it fall on me to do so?”
“So you just assumed I wouldn’t want to be a father from that?”
An incredulous laugh slips out of her. Logically, what else was one supposed to assume from that?
“Well have you ever considered that maybe I’m the one that doesn’t want to be a mother?”
She hadn’t vocalized this to many people and even the few she’d never admitted it with such finality. That one sentence stunned them both. Finding a life partner is hard enough but finding someone who shares the same feelings regarding parenthood is even harder. She thought it had finally all worked out with Billy. He knew the true ugliness of the world and she was sure he shared her opinion on the matter. The world they lived in was no place for a new life, not one who may or may not even have a livable planet or the most despicable people leading it.
Her confession hangs heavy between them and she finally sees the harshness in his expression soften.
“Were you ever gonna talk to me ‘bout this?”
“I’ve never known how to bring it up.” She sighs, “It’s not exactly an easy or ideal topic of conversation.”
“I get that but c'mon, we’re supposed to be a partnership here.” He can’t keep the frustration out of his tone. “We’re supposed to be able to tell each other anything.”
“I just-” she starts “My whole life that’s the one thing everyone has just always expected of me as a woman.”
As she crosses her arms Billy can’t help but notice her shrink further into herself backed into the counter as far from him as she can be. He could physically see the weight such an admission held.
“There have been so many instances where I’ve confided my feelings to people and all I get is ‘You can always change your mind’ or ‘That’s such a big decision to make so young’, like at what point in my life is it acceptable to make this decision?” Her own frustration grows.
“When it’s made for me? When it’s too late but then everybody assumes I have this massive regret? There’s just no winning and quite frankly I’m so over the emotional toll these conversations take and the unnecessary guilt for not adhering to some archaic gender expectation.”
She had been called every possible thing whenever she told people she wasn’t sure about kids. People called her ungrateful for having the ability when so many women wish they could. Others would say it was selfish to choose herself and her body. She knew Billy would never, but after being on the receiving end of these comments from people she thought she could confide in, some small part in her brain was always on guard.
He can see all her emotional walls going up at the possibility of him rejecting her for this, which is a laughable thought to him. There were very few things she could do that would drive him to do something like that. This was most definitely not one of those things.
A highlight of having spent such a long time together was knowing when her distress called for a certain response from him. Clearly this was a moment that required comfort and despite his feelings about her omission, there was no way he would ever deny her what she needed. So with very careful steps Billy approaches, gently wrapping his arms around her.
Letting herself fall into the embrace was too easy but she wasn’t going to beat herself up for caving so quickly, not when 30 minutes ago she was dreading the direction this relationship was heading in.
“I won’t say I’m not upset you kept this from me.” He sighs, “But I get it.”
He really did understand, he knew about her insecurities regarding her relationship with family and feeling like an outcast for not following the same paths as them. He would never imagine throwing them in her face.
“I’m sorry for assuming, there’s no way you could’ve known without me sharing and considering I do see us spending our lives together I should’ve communicated that from the beginning.” Neither of them could understand how they’d gone so long without this topic of conversation even coming up.
“No, I’m sorry for blowing up.” Guilt creeps into his voice. “You were right I was projecting and the last thing I want you to feel like is a villain when it comes to decisions that affect you as a whole.”
A new guilty feeling begins to settle in her.
“I don’t want you to have to choose between your desire for a family and me.” As much as it pained her she could never take that opportunity away from him and she loved him too much to do so. She was sure of her choice and in the same way she wouldn’t let anybody take it from her; she wasn’t going to take it from him.
This prompts a whole new fear in him.
“Now hold on, before you go making any self sacrificing rash move I need you to listen closely.” He cradles her face close to his in hopes she fully grasps what he’s about to say.
Before he can get a word in she cuts him off.
“Billy, don't make this decision because of me, please really think about what you’re going to say because I can’t bear you hating me in the future.”
“Would you just listen to me?” He huffs.
“Sorry.” She averts her eyes.
“Look at me.” He waits for her to bring her gaze back to his. “If it comes down to having to choose to spend my life with you versus anything else, I will always choose you .” The certainty in his voice sends a chill down her spine and her subtle shiver makes him smile. She presses her body closer to his which queues a shiver of his own.
It was like a movie montage of their entire relationship played back in her mind. Meeting for the first time at the coffee shop down the street from her old apartment, gushing to Karen about the craziness of having a meet-cute, Billy charming the hell out of her on their first date that it felt too good to be true. Maybe in the back of her brain she was always just waiting for the other shoe to drop and of course Billy being an absolute dream was reassuring her in all the right ways.
They stand there in silence simply holding each other for several minutes. Finally, he breaks the silence.
“I need to know you understand what I mean when I say that.” He caresses her face.
She leans into the touch basking in all the love he so freely gave her. Billy never failed to make her feel like the center of his universe, and she appreciated it so much. To be loved so openly and unconditionally felt so good. To have someone understand her so wholly and be so secure in what she has with someone.
“I do…I think”
“No, none of that think shit, I need to hear you say you understand.” His demand is subsided by the soft sway of his thumb against her cheek and she can’t help the light giggle that spills out.
“Yes Billy, I understand.”
He sighs in contentment leaning down to kiss her, equal parts passionate and languid trying to convey as much of his love as he could into it. Whenever he kissed her like that she felt ready and willing to give him anything he asked, too hypnotized by the buzz running through her body to refuse him. She can’t help throwing her arms around him, pressing herself as close as physically possible.
Pulling away he pushes a strand that loosened back behind her ear. Her eyes remain closed and she pushes her body upwards chasing his lips not wanting a single inch of space between them.
“Slow down baby,” he laughs. “Look at me.”
She was already dizzy on his love and the dominant tone in his demand makes her gasp softly sending an electric current down her body. Looking up at him with a mix of adoration and ready compliance in her eyes has him groaning and leaning down to kiss her again, only rougher and all consuming this time. Her arms wrap around his neck while his hands roam up and down her body. Their desperation for each other grows by the second and her need has her pulling him to the bedroom not separating for even an intake of breath.
If Billy wasn’t too distracted with wanting to rip every article of clothing off her he’d laugh at her attempts and urgency to drag his body all the way to bed. Of course he humors her and would never admit to letting himself be tugged along so easily. He only pauses to avoid crushing her when she pulls him onto the mattress. He takes this moment to let his eyes run over her, a blush fills her cheeks at this attention.
“I love you baby, you know that right?”
Her hand comes up to cup the side of his face and he turns to press a kiss to her palm.
“I love you too Billy.” A happy sigh spills out of her, “So damn much.”
got inspired by the awesome dilf post, so please: la squadra as milfs???
I'M SOBBING, here we go I guess!! I'm dialing this one to eleven!!
Risotto: She's giant in every way so everyone else appears quite small next to her. She's usually in the kitchen or her kitchen garden, picking fruit from her trees without needing so much as a stool to reach most of them. Rumor has it she once slapped a wild bear in the face with her chancla to defend her family, and if asked about it, she will modestly look away and murmur, "Anyone else would have done the same." (The bear never came back, by the way.)
Formaggio: You can tell she used to be a hardcore punk: she still sports a buzz cut, with red lipstick and golden hoop earrings to add some bright colors. She's top heavy and proud of it, so she makes sure to show ample cleavage and likes to wear leather jackets. She loves to go out and constantly organizes outings for her friends and family; has never missed an event, and has never left an event without drinking something. A dangerous flirt.
Prosciutto: She's extremely overcommitted, and how she hasn't gone insane yet from micromanaging everything from work to her entire family's smallest concerns is a mystery. Her children are still affected by her leaning in and papping their cheeks, and the impression is even stronger on covetous strangers. Only ever lets her curly hair down for evening parties, at which point she basically transforms into into a femme fatale. Pegs like a battering ram.
Pesci: Always overcome by severe gender dysphoria whenever she compares herself to her more feminine peers, but she makes do with cute and novel ways of styling her scant hair, nice patterned tops and trouser skirts. She's often shy, but sometimes has her bold moments that suggest she could be a real firecracker if properly encouraged. Does a lot of heavy lifting that reveals ridiculous core strength and flexibility. Loves dancing and rhythm games.
Ghiaccio: The only one in yoga class who wishes you were allowed to scream out loud, and the only parent who, if their child takes up a sport, will take up that sport herself both as a form of support and as a means of bonding with her child and people her age. Is a health freak and makes kale smoothies, but since her legs look great in tight pants and her tits are rock hard, she's clearly winning. Has probably never had an orgasm, so there's a good challenge.
Melone: How is she still alive, and why does she still look like a barely aged scene girl? Nobody knows, not even her, but she's happy to lounge on her designated bean bag chair in cute pajamas and her laptop always on. Be careful around her: her brain is oversaturated with niche Wikipedia articles and she'll tell you all about them as soon as you're near enough to hear, and you might in ten minutes find yourself painting her toenails while she's reading your horoscope.
Illuso: Oh, she is the ultimate Karen. Luscious hair styles, immaculate manicures, the latest mom fashions, and a holier-than-thou smirk that instantly makes the manager homicidal. Knows her coupons and discounts more than the Bible but she's dressed to the nines every Sunday flashing that mass stipend to let everyone know she's more generous of heart than they could ever be, then whines at the barista about her order. Teases her children mercilessly.
Sorbet: That one esoteric plant witch who loves her orchids more than her own children, and would become a certified hermit if she could. Since she's stuck with her family, however, she stalks around her home like she's embodying Morticia Addams, and talks to everyone in a dry and ominous tone. Watches too many murder mysteries and cooks mushroom stew right after. You are welcome to indulge her obscure opera obsession, but watch out.
Gelato: The whimsical happy-go lucky mom that every fanciful child dreams of, the type who builds blanket forts in the living room, thinks that everyone deserves a little treat always, and actively assists whenever anyone around her wants to try something new and possibly dangerous. Has nearly burned down her house a dozen times but she keeps toasting marshmallows in bed with a blowtorch. Hope you have insurance if you decide to engage.
“There’s not a word yet for old friends who’ve just met.” - Jim Henson
Hazel smiled as she sat next to Billy's bed, it had only been a week since she had started reading to him but it had become a welcome moment of peace. She took his hand in hers and placed the next book on the bed, it was Death on the Nile this time, "it looks like we're opening up next week."
Billy was elated, he wanted to cheer but he couldn't. He knew his friends would love Hazel. He could see the meeting in his head, Frank would wrap her in one of his bone crushing bear hugs, Curtis would extend his hand with a smile and Karen would insist on drinks at the bar with Matt and Foggy.
Each time Hazel's voice had floated into his mind and her warm hand linked in his, he had focused all his energy on just one squeeze but so far, it had been fruitless. His frustration grew as he always managed to do it when she wasn't there. Sometimes it was a moment after she left, sometimes it took all day for him to manage a twitch but he was going to do it.
He knew the other voice too, Lizabeth's, and he wondered if she looked as fed up as she always sounded, "you should tell me about your day, he's probably getting sick of your murder mysteries by now."
Hazel huffed, "I don't think he wants to hear that."
"Of course I do." That was all he wanted to say but he couldn't even manage a sound. He wanted far more than what Hazel had said about herself in passing.
Lizzy sighed, "just give him the spark notes, then you can start the book."
Billy heard Lizabeth leave the room and he waited for Hazel's soft voice to fill his ears, "she won't let up until I do," Billy believed it, "well, it started bad because I spilt my coffee and it was the last of what I had at home so I had to brave the subway uncaffeinated. I thought I was going to commit homicide because the person next to me was chewing too loud."
He wanted to laugh, to tell her stories about being stuck in holes with men who behaved like pigs.
"Then I got a call about Barry's fancy food, it's on time so he'll get his clams before he grows legs and lungs and eats me in the middle of the night." Barry was Hazel's pufferfish, although Billy thought she was talking about a dog the first time she spoke of him.
He could say so many things, he wondered if she would be shy or smile and toss him something back.
"And I'm pretty sure a doctor just asked me on a date, I said yes." Billy could hear his huff, a woman that beautiful should know when she's being asked out.
"But he's kinda of ass so I'm just going to be nice and call it an early night. I'm far too busy to date right now, he'll you're the only man who listens to me and you're pretty much in a coma."
Billy could feel a charge in his chest, had he been awake, this would have been easy.
"Now that's enough about me, let's crack open a fresh book and settle in."
****
Billy knew it was coming, that dreaded chime, but he was planning on it. Days of matching each word with the passing seconds until he could count down until the bell rang, "well Billy, I'll be back tomorrow."
For the last twenty minutes, he put all his attention into just closing his hand. He thought it was another failed attempt as he felt Hazel's hand leave him but his hand ached and his fingers shifted and she paused.
Billy waited for her dismissal but it never came, "can you do that again?" He had a feeling that was coming and put every ounce of willpower into fulfilling her request. He must have done it because he felt her jump.
"Ok, alright. I going to get Lizzy in here, umm" Hazel's hand slipped for his briefly and he heard the call bell, "in a bit, Lizzy's going to swap with me. If you're doing this intentionally you need to squeeze her hand too, that's all I want you to focus on."
He steeled himself, just a little longer and he could rest. He heard footsteps, "what is it?" Lizabeth sounded worried.
"He squeezed my hand and I got him to do it again, I'm pretty sure this isn't just a reflect." Hazel sounded so hopeful, he wasn't going to disappoint her.
He could almost feel Lizzy waving her hand, "give him ere, Russo, I know we're not on as good of terms but can you let me know you're not bullshitting?"
Billy liked this woman, her hand was different from Hazel's, still warm and soft but different. He focused on Lizabeth's hand in his, going over his fingers as he willed them to move, "holy shit you're right."
Lizzy's hand was gone and Hazel's was back, "I'm going to go get the Neruo, you stay right there."
He was so proud of himself, it had taken every bit of his strength but he got to hear joy in Hazel's voice. "You won't need to do any more today, they'll let you have some time to get your strength back but they'll want to do some tests. I'll stay until the docs get here and when I get back tomorrow, we'll pick up where we left off. You did really good Billy. Your friends are going to be so proud of you."
The next few hours were a blur of tests and doctors. Hazel was right, they didn't ask him to do anything else but they talked him through everything. Just when he thought he couldn't take any more, it stopped and he was finally left in the peace he needed to prepare for the next day.
****
Hazel came in the next day with excitement in her voice, her hand sliding into his with a familiar warmth, "today's going to be a lot of work but I know you can do it. The docs are going be in here with us are they're going ask you some yes, no questions. All you have to do is show me what those answers feel like and we'll go from there."
He gave her a quick squeeze, "ok, you've got this, don't worry. And if you don't feel like it today, we can try again tomorrow."
There were footsteps, ones he had learned well in all his time at the hospital, "Hello Mr Russo, I'm doctor Waston, I think you've heard my voice before. Can you show Hazel what a yes is?"
He focused on holding on for a second longer than he had been, "yes?" He did it again, "ok Dr, long squezze for yes."
Now that his brain had a mission, it felt like his thoughts were racing and he tried to visualise things he wanted.
"Can you show Miss Moreau a no?" Billy
Billy's brain was working overtime now that he had her last name, he could focus on learning more about her. All he needed to do was get it to Frank. He clenched his hand and let go as fast as he could manage, "ok, short for no, can you do it again to let me know?" Billy was anxious to get this moving.
Hazel's voice grew clearer by the second, "yep, short squeeze for no." There was a pause and Billy thought he could hear something being passed to Hazel, "do you remember where we first met?"
He imagined clasping her hand in his as they walked down the street, hoping the vision would keep his fingers tensed, "yes. Was it on boat?" He released his hand and gave her a short squeeze.
"Was it on a train platform?" He was sitting across for her at the table inside the chocolate shop she had told him about. Hazel inhaled, "yes, good work Billy. You don't have long left now and then we'll let you rest. I'm going you ask some questions about your time here and I need to tell me if you remember, can you do that?" When the doctor realised that Billy was ready to communicate, they called his friends for questions they could ask him about conversations they had throughout Billy's stay.
He was still sitting in the chocolate shop. Hazel had a foam moustache and a fleck of chocolate on her plump lower lip, "do you remember when Frank told you about the new iPhone?"
Of course he did, Frank wouldn't shut up about how stupid it was, "that's good. Do you remember when you moved here? Frank and Curt were with you, they told you all about the room." He thought for a moment, white walls, lots of flowers, the nurses were dressed in light blue scrubs.
Billy searched his brain for something else, he was dancing with her at a fundraiser, she had carnations in her hair and her fingers were laced in his, "Great, that's really good Billy."
There was quiet for a moment, "I'm not asking him that, I think we should take a break." Hazel sounded angry, he didn't like it.
"Of course, I told you we'd take you lead on this."
But Billy didn't want to stop, he wanted to prove he could handle anything. He clenched his hand and then let go, hoping Hazel would pick up on what he was saying, there was a pause before she spoke, "ok Billy, I understand. Do you remember what happened the night you were hurt?"
As Billy tried to find the memories, he felt his heart race and then suddenly he couldn't feel Hazel's hand, all he could feel was agony, searing pain and breaking bones and the sound of Frank screaming his name over an unbearable ringing. Things faded fast, the darkness of pain dissolving to just darkness, he was grateful that the last thing he felt was Hazel's hand on his cheek.
****
Billy didn't sleep at all that night, the moment his awareness returned, it was like he couldn't stop his heart racing. All he wanted to do was open his eyes, to ground himself in the real world rather than the one that was pounding on the inside of his skull.
Waiting for Hazel's late afternoon visit was torture, he had spent his spare moments learning the sounds of everyone's footsteps, and Hazel's was by far his favourite.
Her hello made his heart skip, she had good news, "Hello Billy, I have good news and better news. The good news is that they're going to move you into one of the rebab rooms so you'll have more people to talk to, the better news is that the hospital will be open for visitors on Sunday."
He clenched his hand, hoping that the long press gave away that he was happy, "alright, now that we can talk, I can ask you if you want me to keep going with our murder mystery train, so you wanna pick up where we left off with Agatha?"
No, Billy didn't want that, he wanted to hear about her, he wanted to know how her date with the doctor went. He closed his hand then let go, "alright then, I'm hearing you loud and clear. We can figure this out, do you want to watch some TV? Your plan has all the channels."
Billy gave her another short squeeze, the frustration made him want to punch something. He racked his brain for an idea, combing through his thoughts until something popped up. He focused all his energy on lifting his thumb before tapping her skin quickly twice and once for longer, dot dot dash. He did it again, Hazel was an intelligent woman, she would understand that he was trying to do something even if she didn't understand what he was saying.
"Billy, are you using morse code?" He closed his hand hard, "ok, ok. U?" He could almost see her thinking, "oh, you want to hear about me?"
There was surprise in her voice, Billy couldn't decide if he liked that sound because, of course, he wanted to hear about her, "ok. Well I gave Barry his clams and he made a huge mess of his tank so I'm trying to teach him how to clean up, it's not going well. I tried a new coffee too, it's called rainbow bark roast, it's alright but I think I'm going to sign up for one the those subscription services where they send you different beans every month."
Billy wanted to tell her about the coffee he had at Anvil, about how his first frivolous purchase was an expensive coffee machine that looked like something off a steampunk spaceship. He was surprised at all the small things he wanted to share with Hazel, the little parts of his life he never thought mattered to anyone but he knew that would have mattered to her.
"Oh and I went on that date, not date, I told you about." He was happy at the disappointment in her tone, "it went exactly how I expected it to go, he talked about himself nonstop and then complained about the wine being too floral. I mean we all know wine tasting is bullshit, it's just fermented grape juice, I'd rather drink whiskey."
She liked whiskey, Billy thought to himself. There was a bar a few blocks away from Anvil that she'd love if he could only tell her about it. "You look like a guy Gin guy, I've never been able to get into it, it kinda smells like the ER on a busy friday."
He squeezed her hand then let go and she laughed, that was a sound he did like, "no? Then what do you like?"
He struck a blank, he knew what W was, he just couldn't remember it, "just take your time, all I need is a few letters." All the happy feelings vanished, he couldn't remember something as fucking simple as a letter. It didn't matter, Hazel was there with a solution.
"We can figure it out together. B for bourbon is one dash then three dots," he knew that, "S for scotch is three dots," he knew that too, "and W is.."
It came to him in a flash and he tapped it out as fast as he could, "there you go. Does that mean you're a whiskey man?"
He imagined sitting next to her on the couch, her hand in his while he enjoyed a quiet night with a glass in his hand, "ahh, a man after my own heart. You're pretty smart, you know, it would have never occurred to me to ask you to try Morse code. I have an idea, how about we got through the whole alphabet together? That was when you're friends can visit, you don't have to think so hard. Does that sound good to you?"
He hoped the force of his squeeze let her know all on its own, "great, let's start at the beginning."
****
It was slow going, but being able to tap words out opened up a whole new world. Hazel was fantastic at putting small things together. She learned Billy liked watching MMA, and the next day, she had the rundowns of all the fights that had been on since the lockdown. He was getting stronger, too, and he was slowly getting better at expressing his feelings through how hard he would squeeze her hand.
Billy's favourite times were when he got to talk about his friends, Anvil and all the places he had been. The information he could give was basic, as much as he wanted to pour his heart out, it was hard when it sometimes took him twenty minutes to tap out a seven letter word. That didn't matter to Hazel, she was always patient with him, he never felt like he couldn't answer her but she always gave him just enough of a challenge and helped him rise to it.
Sunday came in what felt like hours but Hazel never entered his room. He held on for visit her all day and the joy of hearing his friends did little to overcome her absence. Nevertheless, Frank's hand in his dulled the ache.
"Hey Bill, it's good to see you again, although from what your nurses said, you had plenty of company while we were away."
Billy wanted to tell Frank all about Hazel and once again, the frustration at his limitations was back. If he couldn't tell Frank, he would have to show him. He tapped out her name as fast as he could and Frank's laugh filled his ears, "oh, so you haven't seen me in two months and the first thing you want me to do is get your new best friend, that's cold Bill."
There was no malice in Frank's voice and the chime of the call bell filled him with hope. Lizzy's footsteps followed and Billy's heart fluttered, "yes Mr Castle, what can I get for you?"
Frank chuckled, "can you go get Hazel? Billy's asking for her."
Lizzy smiled, "I can, she'll be taking her break soon."
Billy heard her leave the room, and Frank's voice filled the space, "we were really glad to hear you had someone with you. Karen was trying to get in here without getting us into shit, but all she could come up with was a story on the hospital's cafe."
Hazel had told him about it, he knew that story wouldn't be a good one.
Frank's tone changed just as he finished telling Billy all about how Anvil was going and Frank's hand shifted from his as he stood up. "You must be Hazel?"
Billy's body filled with anticipation, "I am. It's so good to finally meet you. Billy speaks very highly of you."
Frank chuckled, "oh, I'm sure he does. I can I ask where you were today? Lizzy told me you're normal here in the afternoons."
Billy wanted to hit him, Frank was going to scare her off, "oh, I didn't want to intrude, I'm sure you two have so much to talk about."
Billy could hear a chair moving then Hazel's hand appeared in his free one, it was a strange sensation, she always sat on his left side.
"So Hazel, tell me about yourself." Billy understood where Frank was coming from but it didn't stop him from wanting to kick the shit out of him.
Hazel felt like Frank was trying to look into her soul, "there's not much to tell, I work in the peds ward which is just through the door and across the sky bridge, I live in Hell's kitchen and I have a fish named Barry."
"Why not work at Mercy if you live in Hell's Kitchen?" Billy was growing worried that Hazel would feel like Frank was judging her.
"I work with kids, Mercy's peds ward is pretty basic, plus I have some qualifications that fit better here."
Billy could tell Hazel didn't like where this was going, there was something in her tone that worried him, "I don't mean to be rude because you've done a lot for Bill but why did you want to help him?"
Hazel's hand left him and Billy felt powerless to do anything, "I met Billy on my first day in the city. Without his help, I would have spent the whole day lost. I never got the chance to thank him."
"So you did all this just for a few minutes of his time two years ago." Frank realised his slipup far too late
Billy felt the change in the air, "wait, how did you know it was two years ago?" Billy's thoughts were racing, the last thing he needed was for Hazel to be scared of him, where the fuck was Curt? He would have handled this so much better. "it was nice meeting you, Mr Castle but I think I better head back to work. I'm sure I can see Billy some time tomorrow."
Billy could tell she was scared and doing her best to hide it, he hoped to God Frank understood his as he clenched his hand and let go. Frank's chuckle filled the air, "that right Bill?" He did it again, "stay please. I'm sorry, you gotta see where I'm coming from?"
The tension faded from Billy's body and her warmth returned to his hand, "of course. It doesn't take a genius to know that Billy has a lot of money and you don't want someone you don't know taking advantage of your friend. I'm telling the truth when I say that all I want is to repay his kindness."
She sounded sad, Billy hated it, "that's all I wanted to hear. I probably wasn't the best person to do this, Curt's much better at the people thing than I am."
Hazel laughed, "yeah, I thought I was about to get yelled at. No offence."
Billy could feel the tension leave the room as they both relaxed, "none taken. Bill wants you to stay and so I do, plus you still gotta meet everyone else."
Hazel let out a nervous giggle, "Billy have me the rundown on everyone, Karen's your partner and Curt's your friend. There's also Matt and Foggy, and David and his family am I right?"
Frank nodded, "yeah, that's about it. We'll have to get you over to Avnil too, some of the guys want to thank you for all you've done."
Billy squeezed Frank's hand, hoping it was hard enough to hurt him just a little and Frank huffed, "you can't keep her all to yourself Bill."
If Billy could punch him, he would. "When do you need to do back to your shift?"
Hazel's absence didn't seem so bad now that he knew she was going to keep coming back, "twenty minutes but I'll be back at around six for my two hours with him."
"That's great, Curt and Karen will be here when they get off work. They can't wait to meet you."
Billy was suddenly unbelievably tired, the anxiety and fear fading to exhaustion, "the feeling is mutual."
When Billy came to again, he could hear more voices, all filled with affection.
"How did you manage to work out talking to him in Morse code?" Of course, Karen would ask that.
"It was all Billy, I was just there to catch it." Billy wanted to chastise her, she was the one who gave him the time of day and her faith, he wouldn't have been able to do it all by himself.
"We'll have to have you over for dinner, Sarah's been insisting that we should at least bring you lunch the moment the hospital reopen." He hoped Curt would be more subtle but he knew how it would go with the others, Frank would grunt out a request and Karen would give a demand that sounded like an invitation.
"Thank you for the offer but I couldn't possibly intrude. Maybe when Billy is up and moving around, we can revisit it." Hazel sounded a little taken aback.
"Of course, but I'm sure Billy's going to be more insistent than us." Billy was glad Curt didn't push it, he was smart enough to know that things couldn't get too personal or the ethics board was going to start pocking around, he had a plan for that but now wasn't the time.
Billy wasn't upset when the chime came, "Sadly, I have to head home but I'll be back tomorrow."
Hazel's hand left his, "you can't stay?"
Billy wanted to laugh, he knew Frank would warm to her quickly, "no, I can't stay on hospital grounds any longer," she paused, "I can rearrange my day tomorrow so we can talk more if you like?"
"Sounds good, we'll see you tomorrow."
Billy didn't know how to put his feelings into words, but he had a new mission, open his eyes and say hello.
Ted Wheeler Knows Parenting
Summary: When Ted and Holly run into Steve and his father in Melvalds Ted has a few things to say about the other's parenting style. It ends up with Steve becoming a Wheeler and a lot of changes in that household.
Authors Notes: I've been working on this for a while, but between my days of recovery fic last month and some bad news I got this morning, I just want to post it, leave it where it is and focus on other stories that interest me. I'm going to make it a small series as while most of what I've written is post season 2 there's some bits for season 3 and 4 written too which I'm adding as oneshots.
I'm only posting this first bit here. If you want to read the rest of the series it'll be on AO3 here
/\/\
According to Nancy, nobody's dad's asked as much as he did about school, so Ted accepted that she wanted him to stop.
Mike asserted it was weird that his dad spoke about his hobbies with so much pride so he reduced that amount within his kids hearing.
Then there was Holly just wanting someone to play dolls with and thrilled he'd keep playing when her friends were around because she said he kept the games fun.
He wasn't and wouldn't claim to be the perfect father but hearing Mike's friends claim he was absent in all but body was hurtful. This was how his eldest and middle child asked him to be, and he would be there for his kids friends too, as much as they let him or realised given their own father situations.
Then there was Steve Harrington. Ted didn't know how to react so acted how Karen's dad had, tried to look after Nancy. Even he was able to see Steve would be lost when he was faced with Karen mothering him, as if it was a foreign concept to him.
That reaction made a lot more sense considering the scene Ted and Holly were witnessing now, just outside the supermarket.
"Think about the mud you're putting our name through, Steven. Your mother has been asked multiple times if she should be looking after you at home and can't argue her cases without allusions being made. I thought you knew better than to cause this trouble." Richard was lecturing, gesturing over Steve's body as if to highlight flaws he wasn't stating.
Whatever Mr Harrington was continuing to say Ted ignored, leaning down to Holly who had also noticed Steve and was already looking for permission to go and say hi. For a while she never thought about it but after a few outings with Karen when others weren't so happy to be interrupted he'd made sure to explain to her to check with them if her friends looked busy. Steve however looked like Holly would be a welcome escape from his father so Ted gestured over, encouraging.
"Steve!" She called, excited and hurrying over.
Ted watched as his face lit up and his focus was set on Holly now, as well as the anger that darkened his father's face.
"Holly Jolly, Mr Wheeler, How are you? You been having an adventure?" Steve asked, focusing on the kid as Ted had known he would. Every time he was around it was the easiest way to get him away from Nancy for a bit to suggest Holly asks to play. That'd been how he'd given the 'don't hurt my daughter' talk months back.
"Dad's getting me sweets but sssshhhhh, Mum said I can't have them so we have to hide them when we're home." Holly explained, ignoring Richard clearing his throat since he was a stranger. "Are you getting sweets too?"
"My father says I can't. You're so lucky with yours, Holly Jolly. I've got to get bread and cheese and that's all I'm allowed." Steve's words were joking for Holly but there was something genuine under them that had Ted wondering just what restrictions the boy was facing aside from being criticised and yelled at in public.
He stepped forward, also ignoring Richard for the moment. "I'm sure we can share ours. It's been a while since you came over and I'm sure Karen would love to have you for dinner."
"That'd be-"
"Unacceptable." Richard Harrington interrupts. "Who are you to undermine my sons life?"
Ted looked at the man in judgement. He'd lived in Hawkins for all his life and everyone knew the Harrington's by name and school memories. This was one of the first times he'd encountered the man since school however and what he saw was lacking, both in appearance and impression from Steve's reactions. "Theodore Wheeler. Unlike you I actually know that inviting someone to dinner doesn't undermine them at all. You standing criticising him in front of Melvalds does however, undermines whatever good reputation the Harrington's have thanks entirely to Steve. I see he raised himself rather than you doing any actual work parenting."
Richard scoffed at that, "Good reputation? You call getting into fights good for our name?"
"My son was one of the kids he was protecting as you would know if you were ever home or paid any attention to the newspapers of Hawkins." Ted countered immediately. "Something I can see you'd never do. How about we go and greet Mrs Byers, ask if there are any remaining papers that include that report as well as the invitations for the esteemed Harrington's to make a comment. I doubt the reporters meant yelling in front of a supermarket about their son failing to what? Avoid getting bruises?"
"You have no right to judge me when you're leaving your child in irresponsible hands." Richard snarled, never noticing Steve's step away and attempting to distract Holly.
"Looks pretty responsible to me even if Steve hasn't more than proven himself to me and multiple families including the Chief of Police if I'm not mistaken." Ted replied coolly, turning to lead the way into the store, subtly gesturing for Steve to head down the candy aisle. This wasn't the argument for kids to have or listen to no matter how grown Steve acted.
Almost twenty minutes later, and after the discovery Joyce Byers wasn't working that shift, Ted went to find his kids, ears ringing with some of the words Richard used about his son and reeling with the knowledge that legally or not, for the moment, he had 4 kids.
Steve was watching the end of the aisle with anxious eyes, but had Holly happily holding a couple of toys and talking about a game she was playing. "Sorry for whatever my father said, Mr Wheeler. I hope he's not hurt you." he immediately began, giving the impression that if he wasn't still looking after Holly he'd have already been hurrying off.
"Don't apologise and since you're living with us now you can just call me Ted." He waved the apologies off, bending to his daughter. "Would you like that, Hols? Like Steve to be your big brother as well as Mike?"
"Living with-" Steve cut himself off from asking with a shake of his head. "Can you explain that to me more later?"
Ted nodded, "On the way home I will. Let's get the rest of this list and head off."
Michael Afton x fem!Reader
Hey there guys! This is my first ever fanfiction I published somewhere, so don't expect too much, but I had this idea for a while and the guts to share it. Keep in mind that english isn't my native language, so sincerest apologies for any grammar or spelling mistakes (althought I reread it a thousand time)
Written in 3rd pov, texts are in Michael's pov
Word count: ~4500
Warning: reader described as female, she/her pronouns used, slight angst by the end, cursing, reader has some piercings (😏) (sorry for anyone who doesn't), underage drinking, other than that wholesome fluff and crack /I apologise if I missed something/
I have some ideas so if you'd like a part two, or maybe even make this into a fluffy series then let me know!
Hope you enjoy! <3
"I'm leaving!" Y/n shouted back to her mom, who was also getting ready to leave for work. She shut the door behind herself, starting the 20 minute walk to the city's attraction, Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, owned by the one and only William Afton and Henry Emily. 'Why am I doing this again?' she tought to herself as she neared the doors, showing her ID to the security guard and entering after he nodded and opened the doors for her, saying a quick 'Have a nice shift, kiddo', then letting go of the automatic door. She went straight to the owner's office, hoping for instructions. She knocked, hearing a quiet 'Come in' and stepping in the office, getting face to face with the infamous Mr. Afton. "Good morning Mr. Afton. I'm here for the summer job we've talked about." She stepped closer as the purple suited man stood up from his desk.
"Ah, yes. Y/n Wenner, I assume? Let me show you arround and tell you what your job is going to be." He said, a friendly smile plastered on his face as he walked towards the girl, placing his hand on her upper back and leading her out of the office and around the building. "So if I'm not wrong, you know my son." He glanced at the girl, raising one of his eyebrows in a questioning manner.
"Michael? Oh yeah, we're classmates but we don't talk that much." She lied, hoping to get away without further questioning.
"Is that so? That's unfortunate. I'm sure you two would get along well." He offered as they stopped in front a restaurant on the third floor. Oh, if only he knew."Well, we're here. You're going to be taking the orders of the guests and serving them if needed. Noel will give you further instructions and your uniform." She nodded as a man, possibly in his late 20's, walked out of El Chip's. "That's it for now. If you have any questions or problems, you're welcome in my office anytime." And with that, he walked away, probably going back to whatever he was doing before. Y/n turned to Noel, who welcomed her with a slight smile.
"Well, welcome to the Pizzaplex. Here's your uniform-" He handed her a black bottom-up, the facility's name embroided on it in neon colors and black suit pants with a black belt. "and you can change in the back in the staff room and also put your stuff down there. Here's a key." She nodded, taking the key and mumbling a 'Thanks' before disappearing into the staff rooms.
The first day wasn't as bad as she expected it to be. She only had one Karen to deal with, regardless of the size and popularity of the building. She'll only have to work as a waitress in the first two weeks, as William told her. When she arrived home, she went straight for the bathroom, showering, then laying down on her bed, trying to get some sleep before her next shift.
Next day, same rutine, same building, same door, same security guard. Same uniform, cleaning everything until it was spotless before opening and serving costumers. Repeating it over and over again. She mentally prepared herself for the costumer as she walked out from her break, tying her hair up. She walked up to the booth where two smaller kids were sitting, another person -probably their dad or older brother- sitting opposite of them, his back facing Y/n as she neared the table. She turned so she could look at all of them, forcing a smile on her face which almost got wiped off when she faced the kids' brother.
"Hi, welcome to El Chip's, what can I get for you?" She said how she usually did, not letting the surprise show in her voice. I mean- it is their dad's place aftet all. Michael looked up at Y/n and seemed to think for a moment before looking her up and down.
"What are you doing here?"
"Summer job. It pays well. But not for chit-chat, so may I get your order?" She clicked on her pen, taking the little notebook from her pocket and flipping a page, waiting patiently, just as Noel teached her. Michael looked back down at his siblings expectingly, but not getting an answer as they only stared up at Y/n.
"Evan? Lizzy? Are you listening?"
"Mikey, she has rings in her mouth!" Elizabeth pointed up at the snake bites piercings in the teenage girl's lips, turning to his older brother and bouncing a little in her seat. "Like you!"
"Yes, now- you know what, we'll just take..." he glanced at the menu. "Two kid's menus with ketchup and a medium grilled cheese salad with extra barbeque." He held his forehead and sighed.
"-Extra barbeque... Noted. Any drinks?"
"No, thanks." He waved her off.
"Okay. I'll be right back." She wavered off, going in the kitchen area and telling the order to a cook-bot. Michael stared at her as she walked to another table with a family of six, noticing the annoyed expression on her face before repainting it for a smile. He placed his head in the palm of his hand, his elbow keeping it up as he observed the girl.
"Mikey?" Came the small voice of his little brother. He sighed, turning to Evan, who was squeezing the life out of his fredbear plush, only humming back in a questioning way. "Who is she?"
"Yeah, Mikey, who is she? You seem to like her!" Michael's eyes widened as he immediately shushed his sister, looking around if the girl in question heard it.
"Can you two please keep it down?!" He wisper-shouted at them, leaning over the table a little. "She's just one of my classmates, and no, I don't like her like that!"
"But you mentioned a girl to Dad before."
"Yes, because we worked on a group project together with others and hung out once or twice with the group, but nothing more!" Evan and Elizabeth remained silent after that, patiently waiting for their food to arrive, while Michael scribbled on a piece of paper, glancing up from time to time at the girl speedwalking between tables. He quickly looked back down at his paper and put it away when he noticed the girl walking back to their table with all four plates stacked on her arms, holding the little freddy charms in her right hand before handing one to each kid.
"Two kids' menus with ketchup and a medium grilled cheese salad with extra barbeque sause."
"Yes, thank you." He glanced at his siblings expectingly before clearing his throat. They snapped their heads up before smiling up at Y/n.
"Thank you!" They said at the same time.
"Good. Now eat before Monty gets here and eats you instead!" He made a roaring sound in the direction of poor Evan, who digged his face in his plush. Lizzy just shook her head and turned to the older girl.
"Boys will be boys." Y/n chuckled at the little girl's humor, patting her head.
"You couldn't be more right." She smiled, turning to Micheal, who was messing up his little brother's hair. "Bon Appetit! And just call if you want something." And with that she walked away, grabbing more plates and placing it on the right tables. The kids started eating, but Michael took out his phone, reading the messages his friends sent in the groupchat.
"Who are you talking to?" Michael didn't answer his sister, just put his phone away and started eating.
Before Y/n could've known, she was already getting ready to head home on Friday and go to the party.
"Bye Noel! I'm going home!" She shouted as she headed out of the staff room.
"Bye kiddo! Have a nice weekend!" He waved at her as all the cook-bots looked up from what they were doing, all of them saying a quick "Bye Y/n" in uninion, which earned a slight giggle and a wave back from the girl. On her way out she ran into Foxy as usual, giving him a high-five and a friendly smile. Pirate Cove was always one of her favourite things in the Freddy Fazbear foodchain, aspecially since there usually wasn't many, if any children running around the enthusiastic fox animatronic. While she walked she messaged the groupchat, saying that she got off her shift and asking what the address was again, which turned out to only be one of her friends' house. When she got home, she immediately ran up to her room to change, packing only the neccesary things in her little backpack, quitely slipping in a bottle of vodka next to her phone's charger, change of clothes, pajamas appaerently as it was aquired by Jeremy, and wallet.
"I'm leaving and I'm taking my motor!" She shouted at her mom, closing the door after grabbing her motor's key. She went in their garage, taking her helmet and pushing the motorbike out, closing the garage and hopping on the vehicle, speeding off to her friend's house. When she arrived at the large house, she leaned the motor to the wall, ringing the bell. Jeremy opened the door after a minute. He was holding his phone in his other hand, an annoyed expression darking his face. "'Sup! What's with the sour face?"
"Greetings, Y/n. Mike just messaged me his car broke down, so he has to walk."
"Ask him where's he. I'll pick him up. Do you have a spare helmet?" Jeremy shoke his bead as he looked down at his phone, typing a text. "Then he'll use mine. Did he answer?" Jess and Oliver came down the stares, standing behind Jack. "Hey Ols, Hi Jess!" She waved at the pare.
"He's at the city courthouse. I told him to wait there, we're coming to get him."
"And by we, you mean me." Y/n glared and the shorter boy.
"Of course, you two have to confess your love sometime." He turned around, slamming the door after saying a quick "drive safe".
"Fucking srimp." She turned around starting back up her bike and driving off to the courthouse. It was a 15 minute drive and when she slowed down in front of the bulding, she saw Michael's figure sitting down on the staires. She stopped in front of him on the road, taking off her helmet. "Hop on whimp, they're waiting for us." He looked up, placing his phone in his bag and standing up.
"So this is what Jeremy meant by "we"." He stopped in front of the girl, not yet taking the helmet she was offering.
"Yeah, get on with it if you don't want to walk." She streched out her arm more, gesturing for him to finally take the helmet.
"Where's yours?"
"I only have one and passenger safety first, so will you stop whining and take the fucking helmet before I leave you here?" He huffed, accepting it and following her in sitting on.
"Since when do you have a motorbike anyway?"
"God, you do not stop asking questions, do you?" She started the bike, already driving back to the house. "Hold on to something. I wouldn't want a pretty boy like you to fell off."
"I might well just say that it's hot that you ride a bike if we're here." He smirked, carefully placing his hands right above her waist, trying not to invade her space too much.
"I'd say that it's not the only thing that I'm riding, but that would be lie." She bickered back when they stopped at a red light.
"We could change that." He slid his hands a bit lower, testing the waters. "You just have to say so, princess."
"Keep your hands and cheesy nicknames for yourself for now." She rolled her eyes, just as a car rolled up next to them, a young looking male rolling down the window and shamelessly staring at Y/n. Michael turned his head in the man's direction, squeezing her waist a little in a warning manner. She looked back at her passenger before following his gaze. Just as she looked at the car's rolled down window, the driver whistled.
"Hey there, doll. How about you drop that asshole down and pull over to give me your number?" She rolled her eyes, preparing to speed away from the catcaller.
"That asshole is my brother and the only number you'll be getting from me is thr number on your hospital bills if you don't shut up, bitch." She flipped him off and looked both way before continuing to drive.
"Why did you say I was your brother?" Michael asked after a minute of deafening silence between them.
"If I said you were my boyfriend he wouldn't have left us alone and we would be followed still. Catcallers tend to be more scared of a brother than a boyfriend. But your surprised face probably bailed on us." She chuckled, slowing as they entered the familiar neighbourhood.
"How many times do you get catcalled on a regular day?" He asked coutiously, softening on his grip.
"When I dress casually then usually zero. Revealing clothes are a bit different though but it still depends of what type of a guy I'm passing by." She explained. The boy behind her nodded, thinking a little.
"What type of guy I am?"
"That's a thing only you know." She stopped the vehicle, letting Mike get off first, then herself before turning to him. "But if you ask for my opinion, then I'm honest when I say that you look like a dick at first sigh, but I trust you to walk with you in a dark alleyway at night and dress like a slut and I wouldn't get called out on it or stared at one bit." She ran her fingers through her hair. "You're a nice guy Mike, any girl would be lucky to have a respectful partner like you." She smiled up at him, then walked to the door. Michael was just standing there, eyes wide and his cheeks reddening. He shook the strange feeling off, trying to slow down his pounding heart and followed her in the house. "We're back!"
"Good God, I thought you two pulled over to fuck or something. What took so long?" George shufled out of the kitchen, holding a bowl of chips. Y/n grimaced, taking a piece of the snack.
"We thought about it but we came to the conclusion that Jeremy's bed is probably confier." Michael shrugged, taking the house keys. "I'll go, put your bike in the garage."
"Thanks." George waited until the tall boy shut the door before elbowing the girl in her ribs.
"So? How was the ride?" She shrugged, searching the kitchen cabinets.
"We ran into a douchebag."
"Oooooh. Did he protect you?"
"Didn't need much protection." George hummed, eating more of the chips.
"I heard your little confession outside."
"It was hardly a confession. I just said he's nice and I trust him."
"And that any girl would be lucky to have him as a boyfriend." She blushed a little, giving up on finding more snacks, searching for cider instead. "I'm just saying that I see him eyeing you all the time. You two seriously need to talk a little heart to heart. Let yourself flow with the tides. You're basically a couple now, just didn't confess your feelings."
"I don't know George. He doesn't seem that interested in me. And even if he would like me, he deserves someone better anyway." The girl looked to the side, holding a twelve pack Summersby.
"For fuck's sake, there's noone better for him than you! You have so much similarities, same interests, trust, everything he needs and wants is in you!" They snapped their head in the direction of the stairs, looking at Matt who walked down.
"Where's that fucking bowl of chips, Geor- oh, welcome back. Looks like the lovebirds arrived. C'mon, we were about to start without you." Everyone walked up and into Jeremy's bedroom, Y/n placing the drinks down in the middle of the circle they sat down in.
"And I brought a spare bottle of vodka."
"Nice, can we start now?" Jeremy looked around, everyone nodding or shrugging. "Nice. But with what though?"
"Spin the bottle is unnecessary as we're by ourselves, so I suggest truth or dare." Jess stated, opening a bottle of cider.
"I wanna start." Oliver copied Jess' actions, looking around as he took a sip. "Jeremy."
"Ok, so now we know that Mike is afraid of fucking foxes, Oliver is an ex Dream SMP fan, Jess would fuck anybody, George plays Roblox in his free time, Y/n has her nipples pierced and Matt can play the flute. And I thought we knew everything about eachother." Jeremy fake sniffled. "But it's time we spice things up ladies and gentleman, so the girls can go to the bathroom to change." He pushed the girls out with her bags and shut the door behind them.
"I start to think that this was just an excuse so they could jack off." Jess laughed, taking her pajamas out of her bag, Y/n doing the same as she scoffed. "Ok I have to ask this. Do you really have nipple piercings?"
"Yeah." She answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Are they healed?"
"I got them after my 16th birthday, so yeah, pretty much."
"I dare you to not wear a bra under that shirt." Jess smirked after she pulled up her pants. Y/n froze, slowly turning her head in her best friend's direction.
"Are you nuts?!
"Yeah, but HE's in there and you're super hot, so why not. And it's not like it's cold or something." The black haired girl thought for a second before turning her back to Jess and clipping off her bra, throwing it in her bag and pulling the oversized shirt over her head.
"There. Are you happy?"
"Yeah, and he will be too." Jess opened the door, stepping outside.
"I hate you so much." Y/n muttered, crossing her arms in front of her chest before they stepped back inside Jeremy's room. They boys were discussing something, all of them sitting in shorts and a shirt or tank top as they turned their heads towards the girls. Y/n hopped down between Matt and Oliver, Jess sitting on the other side of Jeremy, next to George.
"You're back. I thought you guys were gonna take a year." Matt commented, taking a sip of his drink.
"I'm sick of those type of girls, you know that."
"Can we continue? It's my turn." Oliver complained.
"Yeah, sure whatever."
"Mike." Oliver smirked, glancing at the three other boys who mirrored his expression.
"And you can't say truth, because you choose that for the last two rounds."
"Then why even ask? Just spit it out." He glared at the blond.
"I dare you to go to the other bedroom with Y/n. For at least fifteen minutes." The mentioned girl almost spat her drink out, founding herself in a coughing fit after.
"Why am I involved in this shit again?" She managed to croak out. "It's his dare, not mine!"
"Because I said so. Now go! The earlier you start you earlier you can get out." Oliver pulled her up and pushed her in the direction of the guest bedroom, Mike standing up on his own and following them after giving a death glare to Jeremy, George and Matt. "And try to be quiet!" And with that he shut the door behind them. Y/n sighed, hopping on the bed and crossing her legs, Michael sitting down on the other end of the bed.
"I might as well ask if we're here." He whispered after a long minute of silence. "Did you mean it? What you said outside?" Clare hugged her legs to her body, resting her chin on her knees.
"Yeah... I never really experienced real love and friendship until now, and you guys are very important to me, however weak that may sound. And I want you to be happy, whatever it takes."
"It doesn't make you weak, but an awesome friend."
"Mmmh."
"I also heard your conversation dowstairs with George." Y/n froze, her heart speeding up as slight blush covered her cheeks. "I don't know who you were talking about, but believe me when I say that guy is lucky as fuck. To have you fallen so much head over heels for him that you think you're less than perfect. And he's an idiot if he doesn't see it and not appreciate you for even a second."
"It's funny." Y/n chuckled, tears starting to cloud her vision.
"What?"
"You trashtalking yourself." Mike's heart skipped a beat as he stared in front of him with wide eyes. Y/n gasped, starting to get off the bed and wiping the tears. "Fuck, sorry, I'm gonna go." She ran out the door, the others snapping their heads at the harsh sound.
"No, wait, fuck. Y/n, come back!" Mike stood up, starting to step after the girl, but he was stopped by Jess running after her. The boys stood in front of Mike with a worried expression.
"How did you fuck up this time?"
"I didn't! She just didn't give me any time to answer before she ran out." The boys were silent as they looked at eachother with furrowed eyebrows.
"Answer to what?"
"Y/n? Y/n?!" Jess shouted after her as the black haired girl ran under the stairs and sat down, pulling her knees close. "Y/n?" She asked again softly as she searched for her. She finally walked to the stairs, looking under after she heard Y/n's muffled sniffles. She frowned at the sight of her best friend, mascara running down her red cheeks, her nose rosy and runy, trying to slow down her breathing. "Hey there. Can I sit down, so we can talk about it?" She only nodded as an answer and Jess didn't hasitate crawling next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, letting her sob into her pajama shirt. "What the fuck did he do? Do I need to beat him up?"
"No-no." She forced out after she slowed her breathing. "I was the one who fucked up. He said that he heard my conversation with George and said whoever the guy is we were talking, he's very lucky and an idiot if he doesn't see how much he means to me and I said that it's funny that he's trashtalking himself."
"And what did he answer to that?"
"I didn't let him. I told him and now we can never be the same. He probably dispises me if not hates me, he'll tell his dad and I'll get fired and our friendsgroup's gonna brake because he'll never talk to me again. I'm a failure just like my mother said." She started crying again. "I just- I just hope he'll find the perfect girl he deserves and be happy."
"That's you." Y/n squeezed Jess' arm at the sound of Michael's voice. "And your mother's a bitch for saying things like that to you. You're the kindest, sweetest, strongest, most beautiful and creative person I have ever met. You're not afraid of shit life punches you in the face with. Even after all the crap you've been through, you manage to smile every day, which can light up the whole world. Your laugh is adorable and could melt me on the spot. You bring meaning to my days, a reason to get up and keep going. I'm sorry I didn't answer right away, I was just surprised someone like you could have feelings for me." He stood up from sitting on the stairs, leaning down to look her in the eyes. He offered her a hand, helping her stand. He cupped her rosy cheeks, gentle thumbs wiping away the salty tears running down. "Can I?" He carefully pulled her closer, holding eye contact as she muttered a hazy "yeah", closing his eyes, leaning close, lips ever so softly touching hers. Her hands snaked up to around his neck, melting into the kiss. He grabbed her waist, gently pulling her closer as they forgot everything else existed, only foxusing on eachother, completely blocking out the cheers of their friends. She slowly pulled away, lingering in the feeling of his plump lips against hers, leaning her forehead against his. Y/n sighed, carefully opening her eyes and they met with his, making her dig her face in his shirt, hiding her red cheeks. After giving them a smug side-glance, Jess walked up the stairs, pulling the other four with her.
"C'mon guys, we gotta leave them alone for a bit. Let them have their moment." She whispered, tiptoeing back up to her twin brother's room.
"But I wanna hear what they talk about." George whined, pulling his wrist away from the girl's grip.
"Knowing Mike there won't be too much talking." Matt muttered, turning his head away to try and muffle his snicker.
"I meant every word I said, y'know." He whispered, comfortingly sliding his hand up and down her back slowly while staring at the wall over her head. "I know we haven't known eachother well for that long, and feel free to tell me to shut up if you feel uncomfortable, but god, I don't know what I would do without you. I get butterflies whenever I look at your smile or hear your laugh. You look so beautiful no matter what and I just want to make all your pain and insecurities go away. I could stare at you for hours without a single thought of ever looking away. You are truely entirely perfect in every way. Just the thought of someone else holding your hand like I want twists my heart... You mean a hella lot to me. A reason to keep going, put up with my shitty dad, get out of bed every day." He took a breath, afraid of saying anything else, fearing that his words will bring negative consequences. "What I'm trying to say is... I'm in love with you."There was a moment of silence before he felt her squeeze him thighter.
"I think I'm in love with you too. So fucking much."
Chapter Summary/Warnings: Tragedy strikes your family yet again
The next morning you had just finished getting dressed and walked into the living room moments before Karen knocked on your door. She'd come by to wait for Sarah to come get Adi so you could head in to work. You opened the door on the way by "Good morning Karen" you greeted and she smiled "Good morning. How was yesterday?" you handed her your phone while you finished gathering everything you needed "Flip through the photos"
 She was still smiling when you walked back into the room and held your phone back out to you "Got to say the three of you look just so right together in that photo" you shrugged one shoulder trying to hide the smile that had worked it's way onto your face  "I'll get off around ten possibly eleven so I'll see you in the morning? Shit I told Billy he could come by your place for dinner and so he could see Adi is that ok?"
She nodded "Of course. He's welcome any time" you let the smile that had been trying to slip onto your face "Good oh and make sure you tell Frank that Billy is coming to walk me home so he doesn't have to worry"
You had turned to grab your jacket when Karen muttered "Oh empty apartment. Adi at my place" you felt the tips of your ears turn red before saying "Get your mind out the gutter Page" "Hell why not? You both love each other and want to be together!" She laughed and you shook your head.
"Were you always like this or did I corrupt you?"
"Honestly? I'd say about sixty forty" she replied and you raised an eyebrow "In which direction?" She held up the coffee she'd bought you and said "I'll tell you come tomorrow morning" you took the coffee from her with a playful glare then smiled "Have a good day at work Miss Page and kiss Adi for me when she wakes up" "Will do and you have a good day too"
Tumblr media
Around lunch time you were helping Grant and Jason roll up hoses and heard Jessie greeting Adi and Sarah. You stood up right before Adi launched herself into your arms laughing. "Hey babygirl. What are you and aunt Sarah up to?"
Sarah walked in behind her carrying a few takeout bags "The guys are stuck in a planning meeting so Billy called to see if we wanted to deliver your lunch" your eyes widened at the amount of food "He sent enough for the entire house" she looked over it then said "I think that was kind of his point" you waved Jessie over "Wanna take this inside? Apparently Billy bought everyone lunch"
You turned back to Adi "Wanna say hey to everyone while you're here?" She nodded so you carried her inside and held the door open for Sarah to follow you both in.
-----------------
Once lunch was over you carried Adi back out to the van and strapped her in "Now be good for aunt Sarah. Daddy's going to come eat dinner with you, uncle Frank and aunt Karen then I'll see you in the morning ok?" She nodded "Ok. Love you mommy" "Love you more lil bit" you told her then kissed her forehead.
You walked back into the bays about the time a call rang out for an ambulance to respond to an elderly woman having chest pains. Alice sighed "At least they waited until Adi left right?"
----------------
While you were doing inventory of the rig and Alice was finishing up any reports you got a text from Billy "When are you getting off love?" So you texted back "About twenty minutes" you hadn't even laid the phone down when it went off again "I'll be waiting right outside" you smiled and texted back "Just come in! Everyone knows you"
A few minutes later you heard Ash holler "Y/N Billy's here!" You peeked out the back door of the ambulance and smiled when you saw him talking to Jason and Hunter. He caught your eye and winked before turning his attention back to them.
By the time you were through with inventory Billy was standing at the back of the ambulance when you climbed out and narrowly avoided running right into his chest "Shit. I'm sorry Billy" you said as he reached out to steady you "It's ok sweetheart" he had that damn smirk and you couldn't help but feel your heart speed up just slightly when you met his eyes "Um I've gotta tell Ash and Riley a few things then I'll grab my stuff and we can go" "Take your time" he replied and you had to talk yourself out of kissing him while you stood in the middle of the bay surrounded by your co-workers.
Tumblr media
"Are you sure I can't drop you two off?" Alice offered and you shook your head before checking the time "Didn't Kenzie get off an hour ago? And she's waiting on you?" "In a warm office building" Alice responded with a laugh but you shook your head "We'll be fine"
Billy smiled and said "Yeah thanks for the offer Alice..by the way do you like your car? We're going in a couple days to get Y/N one finally" Alice cut her eyes at you with a mischievous grin then said "Yes I do actually. Although I think a four door option is better for a family car"
You stuck your tongue out at her just in enough time for Billy to see. He looked between you and her for a moment clearly wondering what he'd missed before shaking his head "Nope. I know by now not to ask" then reached out for your bag "Want me to carry that?" You let him take it then both of you wished Alice a good night before she climbed into her car to leave and both of you started walking in the direction of your apartment.
-------------
 You didn't realize how close you were walking to Billy until your hand brushed his. You remembered Karen's words from earlier in the day so you laced your fingers with his which caused a pleased smile to appear on his face before he gave your hand a light squeeze.
Tumblr media
You weren't far from your apartment when he stopped suddenly so you turned to face him "Billy? Something wrong?" He shook his head then used your intertwined hands to pull you flush against him "I haven't got to kiss you all day and it's really bothering me"
You leaned in to meet his lips halfway but froze right before you touched when you heard someone call your name. Billy turned to look but your entire body had tensed at the voice even before you spotted Alex Moore walking up the sidewalk towards you.
------------
"Alex" your voice was barely above a whisper. Mahoney was supposed to tell you if he got out. Frank was going to kill him this time. Hell Dinah and Sam were gonna kill Mahoney. "Y/N who is he?" Billy whispered, moving to block your body with his own.
"He attacked me and Alice right after I came off of maternity leave" you answered, eyes never leaving Alex. "You took years of my life bitch" Alex nearly growled then the next few seconds happened in a blur. You didn't even see the gun when Alex pointed it towards you but Billy saw the flash of metal and reacted by shoving you backwards and rushing Alex before the shot ever rang out.
You barely had time to register what happened next. The scent of gunpowder and the metallic scent of blood clung to your nose and throat. Billy had tackled Alex to the ground and they were struggling over the gun. Another shot rang out right before Billy managed to pull a knife from somewhere and plunge it into Alex's neck.
------------
The sounds of the shots drew the attention of a bouncer and a few patrons from a bar on the corner who quickly ran out to see what was happening. "Call the cops!" You hollered as Billy got to his feet. He was supporting his weight against the wall as he scanned you for any visible injuries "Are you ok Y/N?" You nodded and he half smiled before his legs went out from under him.
You caught him and helped him ease down to the sidewalk. You pulled your hand back and realized it was bloody so you tore his shirt open to see a gunshot directly in the center of his stomach. Blood was gushing out the wound. "Oh god" you couldn't even allow yourself the panic you felt "GET ME A GOD DAMN AMBULANCE HERE TOO AND ONE OF YOU COME HELP ME" you screamed at the men who were simply standing around.
The bouncer threw the phone to one of the other men then came to your side "What do you need?" You jerked your head back towards where your bag had fell "Get my med bag" you looked down at Billy whose dark eyes had never left yours "Hey stay with me Billy ok? Just keep those eyes open for me"
He nodded then winced "Fuck I forgot how bad getting shot hurts" by that time the bouncer had gotten your bag so you were grabbing everything you needed out of it and checking for an exit wound.
When you didn't find one you knew the bullet was still inside so you had to keep him as still as possible to minimize the damage. "Yeah so I've been told" you felt your voice tremble as you spoke. Your hands were moving simply from years of training. It was muscle memory more than anything at that point because you felt like your world was falling apart.
Billy's hand came up to brush your hair out your face weakly and you could feel the warm smear of blood his fingers had left behind "God I don't want to miss any more with you and Adi" you had to grab the bouncers hands to use to hold pressure once you'd packed the wound because your hands were shaking too bad "do it like this and do not fucking move" you ordered and he nodded.
You slid up to Billy's head to check his pulse and felt it getting weaker by the second. "Billy you're not gonna miss anything with us. She needs you. Baby I need you. I love you, please just stay with me until the ambulance gets here"
A weak version of that damn smile that always made you stumble your words slipped onto his face "Did you just say you love me?" You nodded and felt tears slipping down your face "Yes Billy I fucking love you soo much" his eyes tried to close so you shook him "God dammit stay with me Billy. Do it for me. Do it for Adi. Just keep your fucking eyes open"
He opened his eyes partly then said "Baby you know I'd do anything for you two" "Then fucking stay alive. Be here with us. Marry me. Be there the day our daughter graduates high school, when she gets married. You're the only man I've ever loved and I want to spend the rest of my life with you so please just hold on..listen to my voice please" he laughed weakly and you felt your heart stop when some blood came out his mouth "Did you just propose to me?"
"Yes I did so now you got to stay here. You've got me and Adi to fight for. We need you" he smiled and said "Can you kiss me?" You leaned down to place a gentle kiss to his lips and saw your tears mixing with his own "I love you Y/N. You and Adi are the best thing that's ever happened to me"
His pulse started slowing and his eyes fluttered shut. "BILLY? BILLY?" you moved your hand down to his chest and shook him harshly when he didn't react you felt and couldn't find his pulse. "No..not after everything. I'm not losing you" you choked out, moving to start compressions and begging anyone listening to not take him from you and Adi.
You were on the verge of breaking from the mere thought of losing him when you heard the ambulance pull up "Y/N?" You recognized Riley's voice and hollered "BILLY'S BEEN SHOT. HE'S LOST A LOT OF BLOOD AND I JUST LOST HIS PULSE"
everlong | Jake Kiszka
Tumblr media
dad!jakexreader
summary: Jake teaches your daughter violet simple chords on her new mini gibson and she surprises him with playing Everlong by Foo Fighters with the rest of the boys for his birthday present :)
Jakes Pov
"Vi is gonna freak when she opens her Gibson." Yn giggles, cuddling into my arm as we watch our daughter Violet opening her birthday presents from all of our family for her 8th Birthday. "Well she's been more interested in my playing lately and I thought it was time to get her started on the legacy." I squeeze her thigh lovingly and Yn giggles again laying her head on my shoulder.
"Legacy?" she looks at me. "Yeah! she comes from a musical family. It's time she starts pulling her weight. Who knows maybe she'll take my place on tour so I can stay home with you mama." I look at yn in the eyes as she lifts her head from my shoulder.
"Oh is that right?" "Uh huh" yn leans in for a few pecks on my lips and we turn our attention to Vi opening her gift from Danny.
"Oh my gosh uncle danny! Golf clubs!" Violet pulls the driver out of the bright pink golf bag and starts shimming it in the air while wiggling her little body. "Yeah honeypie! Now I can teach you how to be the best golfer Michigan has ever seen!" Violet smiles and runs up to Danny hugging him tightly, resting her head on his stomach. "Thank you uncle danny. I love you" Danny pats her head, "You're welcome honeypie. I love you too. Now I only see one more present over there and the only people left who haven't gotten you something is mommy and daddy over there."
Violet gasps and looks over at me and yn with an excited smile. "Sam bring the gift over here to us. Vi come here and open it with mommy and daddy." Violet runs into my open arms and sits on my thigh. Sams bring the gift over to us and violet puts her hand on it as if asking to open it.
"Go on honey! Open it for Grams!" Karen smile's holding her phone filming the opening. Vi giggles and hops off my lap and starts peeling off the purple kitten wrapping paper. She gets the wrapping off and sees the mini guitar case. "Oh daddy is that a..?" Open it and find out Bug." Yn urges her with a big smile on her face.
Violet smiles and Yn and slowly pops the buckles of the guitar case and gasp at the sight. A mini lavender Gibson Classic lays in the case waiting for Violets little hands to pick it up. "Oh daddy, daddy it's perfect! I love it! thank you thank you!" Violet jumps into my arms planting sweet little kisses all over my face. "Thank your mama too. She picked the color" Violet looks over at yn and jumps into her arms repeating to her face what she just did to mine.
I lift the guitar out of the case and start messing around with it while everyone tells violet how awesome her gift is. Eventually I've been finicking with the little instrument for an hour and just about everyone has left out house except Josh, Sam, and Danny. Out of the corner of my eye I see Vi looking from my face to the guitar I hold in my hands with a curious look on her face as if she was wondering if she could try some things on the guitar.
"Vi, baby, come here. Lemme show you a few chords." Her eyes light up and she runs to me standing between my legs while I hold my spot sitting on the couch. "Okay now hold it like...that! good Bug you're a natural!" Vi giggles rubbing her head against my hairline out of affection. "Thank you daddy! Okay where do we start?" "Okay so if you hold your finger here and strum the strings like this...." I adjust her fingers then run her hands down the set of strings and the sound comes all through the house. "That's what a simple A chord sounds like!" "ohhhh" Violet nods and looks at me waiting for further instruction. We keep practicing for a few hours.
Yns Pov
After cleaning up the party, I and the three other boys sat on your back porch with some beers and cocktails chitchatting.
"They have been at it awhile! I'm surprised Bug has let this hold her attention this long!" I say taking a sip from my glass of wine. Sam nods his head in agreement. "Yeah me too! That kind of attention span from an eight year old only means one thing: she really wants to learn and be good at the guitar." Josh and Danny huff some words of agreement to Sam. "Oh that's great! Another set of hands i get to listen to strum the strings all night!" Josh laughs and leans over giving me a side hug on the couch. "Oh please Yn don't act like you don't love the idea of a tiny Joan Jett running around here."
I laugh at Josh's comparison. "I guess that is pretty badass. Oh shit! since it's almost six are y'all down for some pizza if i order some?" all the boy express sounds of delight. "Okay! lemme ask them what they want in there!" I open the screen door and walk into the living room and see Jake and Violet in the same spot they've been for a couple hours now. "Hello lovies! How do my little guitarists feel about pizza for dinner?" Both of them nod at me vigorously and I giggle. "Okay then let me place the order. After that I want you to take a shower before the pizza gets her Bug so you don't end up staying up too late. You have school tomorrow, okay?"
Violet sighs with a sad little frown on her face. "Okay mommy! If I do that can daddy keep teaching me for a little bit before bed?" I smile at her and give her a nod. "Yes of course Bug! I am so happy you love your gift so much!"
I head to the kitchen and order way too much pizza for all of us to eat but that's besides the point. Once I get off the phone I walk into the living room to get Violet upstairs to shower. "Okay bug lets get you in the shower so you're clean when dinner gets her!" Jake pulls the guitar from her hand sets it in the case. Violet runs up to me hugging my waist looking up at me. "I'll shout for you when I need you to brush my hair okay mama?" I kiss her forehead and pat her long brown hair. "Okay baby! I love you" She starts running up the stairs. "I love you both too!"
I walk over to the couch and sit on Jakes lap after he's done putting Vi's guitar away. "It looks like we've got a rockstar on our hands huh Mr. Kiszka?" Jake nods pecking my lips then leaning his head into my neck. "I'd say so Mrs.Kiszka. Bug is a natural too. She seems to grasp the concepts super quick and didn't loose interest five minutes in like most young kids. I think she's gonna really take to guitar. Not that i'd be mad if she wanted to play bass but i'm glad she likes guitar." I nod and stay cuddled into jake until i hear Vi calling for me to brush out her hair. I have to do it because her little arm aren't long enough the reach the bottom half and as a direct quote from Violet "The tangles are never as bad when you brush them out mom" whatever that means. "There's cash from the boys on the kitchen counter for the pizza when it gets here." I peck Jakes lips and he nods.
I head up stairs and open the bathroom door to see Violet in her light yellow floral sleep dress with a head full of tangles holding her brush waiting for me. "What's the damage tonight babe?" I say standing behind her looking at her and her tangles through the mirror. "Kinda bad. I think the wind from the big bouncy slide made it worse than normal." I giggle and spray detangler into her long brown locks then start brushing lightly.
After a few minutes of silent brushing Violet soeaks up. "Mama I have an idea." I look into her eyes through the bathroom mirror. "Okay Bug what's your idea?" "Well I got my new guitar and I love it! And I know Daddy and Uncle Joshs birthday is a few months away..." "Four months away yes." "Yeah four months! And I know Uncle Danny and Uncle Sammy can both play the guitar so I was wanting to surprise Daddy with a full song that Uncle Josh sings while we play it for him on his birthday!" I finish brushing Vi's hair and spin her around and kneel down infront on her holding her hands.
"Vi that is the sweetest thing I've ever heard! I just know Daddy will be so overjoyed if you did that for him! And I bet your uncles would be more than happy to help. Tell you what. How about every week after school, one of your amazing uncles picks up and we practice until the big party! Does that sound good?" Violet squeaks and jumps into my arms giving me a bone crushing hug.
"Yes mommy thank you thank you!!! you are the absolute best and I love you so so so so so so much! I promise to learn a Lady Gaga song on guitar for you after Daddy's Birthday!" I laugh into her Lavender scented hair and squeeze her tighter. "Okay Bug! Now go downstairs and I'll talk to your Uncles about it later! Remember don't say anything because we want daddy to have no idea!" Violet nods her head vigorously then the door bell rings. She gasps and runs downstairs to get her grubby hands on some pepperoni before the boys eat it all.
I laugh at her speed then clean up the bathroom from her shower before going downstairs to eat some pizza aswell.
--Four Months Later--
Yns pov
"Uncle Sammy I am super nervous. What if i mess up and ruin Daddy's birthday?" I hear Vi say as I put the decorations around the porch for the Josh and Jakes birthday party. The weather is super nice so a bonfire type thing with snack food and booze is the way to go. "Munchkin don't stress! Have fun and remember you are doing this to make your dad happy. Even if you played the ABC's on that guitar of yours he'd be insanely proud." Violet giggles and Sam lifts her in the air, spinning her around attacking her face with little pecks.
Josh walks over to me with a fold out table in his hand asking where i want it. I tell him over by the table with all the snacky stuff on it. "How is she gonna do tonight J? She's super nervous and I'll admit I did not expect Everlong to be the song of choice for a novice." Josh laughs as we walk together to set the table up. "Yeah but honestly lil twerp is a 90s alternative rock fiend and we couldn't get her to change her mind. And I quote "I wanna be just like Dave Grohl when I grow up"" I laugh and adjust the table with him until it's stable.
"Sounds like my baby. I just hope she's not worrying too much. It hurts my heart to know she's so nervous." "She'll be fine. Really. She has been consistently playing the song all the way through with minor, silly mistakes for about three weeks now. I think she's gonna nail it." I nod and walk off to set up the mini bar inside. Once I'm done I get myself and Violet dressed for the party.
"Mommy I hope daddy likes my playing tonight." Vi says as I finish fixing her long braid. "Bug he is going to adore and think it's super sweet that you thought of him like that! Now stop that worrying and go help the boys set up everything in the backyard." I spin her around and give her head a kiss and she runs out of the room to help get things ready.
I put the finishing touches of the makeup on in our bathroom then start downstairs to the kitchen to wait for friends and family to start arriving. I made jake go get his own birthday cake an hour away so that we could set everything up so he wouldn't be suspicious of all the band equipment in our yard.
I start welcoming all the close and distant friends and family to the backyard and tell them make themselves comfortable. After about twenty minutes jake tells me that he is here with the cake.
"Hey baby, could you help a guy out a little bit?" Jake grunts as he struggles to get the full sheet cake through the door without dropping it. "Oh of course i'm sorry!" we finally set it on the kitchen counter and jake leans in to kiss my temple. "Making me get my own birthday cake on my birthday. How evil and mean spirited can you be?" I giggle and put my arms on his neck and hug him into me.
"Oh you know me just the wicked evil mom who wanted to save my ears the complaining i would hear if you had to set up your own party. Josh didn't mind though. He's always been more laid back than you." Jake looks at me as if i've lost my mind. "Yn you take that back right now." I giggle and start slowly backing away from him shaking my head. Then suddenly start running to the backyard with everyone.
Once we call a truce and make it to the yard everyone start greeting Jake and telling him happy birthday. He kisses his mom on the cheek giving her a big hug. Then he notices the band equipment. Everyone is holding their instruments at the ready but no guitarist in sight. "Um babe did you forget to tell me i'd be preforming with everyone tonight? Wait why the fuck would i preform at our own birthday party?!" Karen slaps his chest and scolds him for his language. "Babe...the boys and I wanted to help Violet with her birthday present to you. When she got her electric guitar she said she wanted to perform for you for your birthday. She's and the boys have been working super hard for the last few months"
Violet walks from hiding behind Danny and his drum set to the right of Josh where he usually stand. Her purple Gibson in her hands at the ready. Jake covers his mouth and walks over to me and wraps his arms around my waist and lays his head on top of mine speechless, ready to hear our daughter play.
"Okay before we start, Skeeter is there anything you wanna say?" Josh walks over to Violet and bends down giving her access to the microphone. "I love you more than the entire world daddy and i hope you like this song. And if i mess up i'm sorry" Jake laughs at the last sentence along with everyone in our family and dabs the tears that are coming from his eyes. He puts his sunglasses on to hide his emotions but i squeeze him tight and give him a kiss on the cheek, comforting my big softie.
The opening sequence of Everlong starts and Jake turns to me with his jaw on the floor. "This is a hard song on the guitar. Bug is really going all out." I nod. "She's been practicing every time you leave the house and for hours with the boys. She loves you so much." I snuggle back into Jake and continue enjoying our Bug play the guitar.
Once she was finished the cheering was as loud as one of their sold out shows. Vi put her guitar on her mini stand and ran over to jake. He picked her up and spun her around, leaving little kisses all over her face. "was that good daddy? Did you like my present." Jake stops spinning and holds her cheek in his hand.
"Bug that was the best present I've ever gotten. I love you more than the entire world too bug."
Welcome Home | Chapter 11: Canta y No Llores
The aftermath of rescuing Sean. Reader reflects, gets philosophical, and comes to an important realization.
The ride back to camp is thankfully uneventful: no follow-up law enforcement, no bounty hunters, just Charles, Javier, Sean, Arthur, and you. You're uncharacteristically quiet. If the gang notices, they don't say anything. Occasionally, Sean tries to start a conversation -- an interesting rock formation, how he was giving those bounty hunters hell -- but it never catches. Fine by you. You don't feel much like talking.
It's dusk by the time you all make it to Horseshoe Overlook, the setting sun painting the sky red. Arthur swings himself out of the saddle in one effortless movement, then reaches up to help you down. His arms are warm, strong, and steady. Ordinarily, you would've been blushing something furious by now, or saying whatever ridiculous thought you had in your mind. Instead, you smile at him, disengage yourself from his reassuring grip, and head for your bedroll. You're exhausted. Exhausted, shaky, and in need of a nice break from reality.
You hear Dutch declare that there's going to be a party to celebrate Sean's safe return, and the mood in camp skyrockets. Yours sinks a little bit further. You've never really liked parties, never been enough of a people person to mingle with crowds, drink cheap beer, and do whatever else was expected of you in those situations. You think back to your first real party, a college one, one that your roommate told you would be fun, a great introduction to how the world works. You also think about how you stood by yourself for the majority of the night after said roommate ditched you for the party host, the real reason she wanted to go. You can still taste the cheap vodka and cheaper soda.
You stare up at the canvas of your lean-to. All of that -- your old life, your old grievances -- seems so far away. And, to some degree, it is. Despite being out of your time, you don't feel out of your element. If anything, you feel... comfortable. At home. And that thought scares you. You don't want to lose what you have, what you've made here in the past: friends... a life for yourself. Finally, after years of everything being decided for you, you have something you can call your own.
"You tryin' to burn holes in that canvas?" Arthur drawls as he looks down at you with an amused smile.
You shrug. "If it catches fire, maybe it'll burn me and I'll look like Two-Face."
Arthur blinks, then sighs and holds his hand out to you. "Not tonight, Y/N. We're celebratin' for once."
"Do I have a choice?" You ask, reluctantly taking his hand.
He hauls you upright like you weigh nothing, and you feel butterflies in your stomach. Guiding you away from the lean-to, he starts walking toward the camp fire, where most of the gang has gathered around Javier. Javier has his guitar and is strumming a pleasant tune to a song you don't know. But it sounds warm and nice and, you have to admit, it makes you feel a bit better.
You sit next to Arthur and take a beer when Karen hands one to you. She smiles, tips her fingers in a mock-salute, and clinks your bottles together.
"I just wanted to thank you, Y/N," she says. She already sounds a little tipsy, but not so much that she wouldn't know what she's saying.
"For what?" You ask.
"Well," she goes to take a sip, stops, and lowers the bottle again. She gives you a grateful look. "For rescuin' Sean. He and I, we --"
She cuts herself off, but you understand. And it brings a smile to your face.
"You're welcome," you say. "But I didn't really do much."
"He told me how you took out that bounty hunter." Her eyes soften a little bit. "You risked your life for Sean, and you didn't even know 'im. That..." She takes a swig from the bottle. "That says a lot about you."
You don't really know what to say, so you don't say anything. Karen smiles again, reaches over, and pats your knee.
"You're alright, Y/N," she says. "You're alright."
It takes all you have not to bolt from the campfire. Instead, you blink away tears, give her your best I'm okay grin, and bring the beer bottle to your lips. It tastes better than you thought it would.
The night gets colder as it goes on, even with the fire, and you find yourself leaning into Arthur for warmth. He glances down at you, confused at first, but soon wraps an arm around your shoulders. You rest your head against him and listen to the music:
"Ay, ay, ay, ay canta y no llores..."
Canta y no llores, you think to yourself. Sounds about right.
A/N: I know it's been a while. A long while. But I've got inspiration again. I plan to revive this blog ASAP. Stay tuned for more works!
