glitradora fic, anything really would be nice <3
hey anon! thanks for the request, this was really fun to write :)
---
"We're out of cereal," Catra grumbles out. It's midnight, she's sleep-deprived and exhausted, and she wants. Her fucking. Cereal.
"I think I might have finished it," Adora blurts out. She's sitting at the couch, where the three of them had crashed right after making it home from work. Glimmer is still half asleep.
"Adora," Catra groans. "My cereal."
"Sorry! It just tastes really good and you get the ones with the little white chocolate triangles in them and they're such a lovely surprise! You can never get used to it!"
"We can just go to the nearest," Glimmer yawns, "24/7 and buy more."
Catra considers that idea. "Okay," she decides, and snatches up her coat. She's striding to the door, stuffing her wallet in her pocket before Glimmer interrupts her.
"And where do you think you're going?"
"The store?"
"Not without us," Glimmer says, heaving herself out of the couch. "I can't believe you're making me do this, Catra."
"I'm not making you do anything," Catra points out, but Adora's already twisted up with trying to get her hands through her jock jacket and Glimmer is digging through the pile of stuff at the coffee table for the apartment keys. Catra heaves a sigh.
---
Catra has to fight, fight, her smile as she watches her girlfriends in the grocery store. She can't help it, okay? They're adorable.
"Catra," Adora asks, with literal puppy eyes. She's holding up the chocolatey cereal Catra hates with her whole heart. "Please? I know you hate it but I love it and so does Glimmer and we'll finish it really fast this time-"
Catra rolls her eyes. Glimmer pushes up next to Adora, slinging a casual arm around her waist and adding her puppy eyes to the mix.
Catra breaks. "Fine," she grumbles. "But only one packet!"
Adora grins sloppily, and presses a quick kiss to Catra's lips before running off down the aisle. Glimmer hesitates, pecking Catra shyly and running after Adora, leaving Catra to smile fondly and shake her head.
They move down the shelves of cereal to the snack aisle, and Glimmer already has a towering pile of junk food in her arms. Adora is snatching candy off their hangers. Glimmer dumps the entire pile of chips, chocolate, soda and god knows what else into the cart, and grins at Catra. Catra bites the inside of her cheek.
"Not a chance," she says, and starts putting the food back on the shelf. "Glimmer, why do we need barbeque chips?? No one likes barbeque chips!!"
"Bow does," Glimmer says immediately. "And he's visiting on the weekend."
"Bow won't eat a familysized pack of chips, Sparkles. No," Catra adds, as Glimmer's hand reaches out to another packet of the sweet and salted chips she loves so much. "I have already counted three of those packets- Adora!"
Adora grins sheepishly from behind the cart, into which she'd just dumped a handful of chocolates of all sort.
"Guys," Catra moans, running a hand down her face. "I'm not getting us all this shit only to have you sick in bed complaining about a bad stomach two weeks later."
"We won't," Glimmer swears.
Catra raises an eyebrow. "Really?" she asks.
"Glimmer, come on, we have to check out the paste aisle," Adora interrupts, her eyes glinting. "Catra, you can sort through the stuff, keep all the chocolates and the chips. Get some more soda. Bye! Love you!"
"That's not sorting out!" Catra yells after them, but they're long gone. She stifles another smile and continues on.
---
Catra catches Glimmer and Adora making out against a row of pasta sauces, and she leans one shoulder against the shelf, and smirks, waiting for her girlfriends to notice her. When they do, Glimmer shoots her a look that makes Catra want to taste Adora on her lips, and Adora looks embarrassed at being caught, running a hand through her messy hair.
"Hi," Catra says finally, moving down the aisle, pushing her cart in front of her. It's been emptied of all food except the cereals and a few packets of chips [Glimmer's favourites] and a few chocolates [Adora's favourites].
"Hey," Glimmer says, reaching out. Her hand fits around Catra's waist easy as anything, and Catra settles into the touch, smiles softly as Adora drops the ingredients required for Catra's favourite type of pasta into the cart.
When Catra doesn't move to take them out, and pushes the cart to the check-out counter, Adora gasps. "Oh, I see how it is! When it's your food you're okay with buying it but when it's ours..."
Catra snickers.
"Catra! I can't believe you'd do that to us!" Adora is pouting now, and Glimmer looks up at Catra with her eyes all widened and adorable and. Fuck.
"Do what?" Catra asks, laughing. They reach the counter and she starts to place their items up, exchanging a smile with the cashier.
"Gum," Glimmer jumps up, holding out a stick of bubble-gum pink gum. "And we'll forgive you."
"No."
"If you get us those perfume strips we'll forgive you," Adora offers.
"Nope." Catra grins at the cashier, who's hiding a laugh.
"Gum. Candy. Perfume. Lip balm. Chocolates. Soda."
"It's like you don't want us to forgive you, Catra."
"Come on, kitty!"
"Fuck off," Catra says, pulling out her card to pay for the groceries. "Excuse my language," she adds, addressing the cashier. "They bring out the worst in me. They're idiots, you see."
The cashier laughs. They hand the bag to Catra and take the card, scanning it. "You guys look happy, though. And y'all are cute, too."
Catra looks back at her girls, who are gaping at her in shock. Probably because she just called them idiots in front of the cashier. "Yeah. Thanks."
She gets her card back, and tips the cashier. "They're idiots," she says, finally, smiling softly at the cashier. "But, well," she looks at the way Adora is trying to keep the sliding doors open with Glimmer cheering her on- "they're my idiots. Have a good night."

Catra and Glimmer are too similar and here’s a long text post to explain why...
Tumblr media
Some days I end up letting my mind wander about any random thing. I let it wander until a thought occurred. Why do the catradora and glimadora ships have sooo much traction to them, when the show first came out? Then I came to a realization. Maybe it’s because glimmer and catra are so similar, and yet different enough for them to be their own characters.
For starters, both of them are driven by the war with similar but different goals. Glimmer fights to prove to her mom and others that she’s strong, while catra fights to prove to herself and adora that she’s strong. When the show starts, glimmer rushes into battle without much thought. If she’s able to help people or earn her place in the army, glimmer didn’t exactly care what the odds were. Catra behaved in a similar matter, but she wanted to fight more to her benefit than anything else. She didn’t have glimmer’s moral code, only the abuse she got from shadow weaver and her fellow cadets (Excluding Adora) to go on. Because of that, all catra was fighting for was respect and admiration from others, lacking glimmer’s sense of justice. Catra doesn’t care who gets hurt, she just wants the credit she’s earned.
Secondly, they both have similar reactions to their anger. Both glimmer and catra get confrontational when they’re faced with a problem they have little control over, and they project it onto others. Glimmer, after seeing another destroyed village at the hands of the horde, snaps at adora (The only horde soldier around).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This might have been a normal reaction considering adora’s defense of the horde prior, however, it happens again later in the first one's temple. She starts off once again with reasonable anger but then starts projecting onto adora about everything the horde has taken from her personally. In that moment, adora was the very embodiment of everything glimmer hates in the world, just by wearing horde colors.
Tumblr media
This starts to affect glimmer’s decision making as well. When she was faced with the choice of letting a horde soldier save her and her best friend’s life, or taking a major risk to her own health on a gamble that wasn’t even a 100% guarantee, she chooses the later out of spite. You can even see she contemplates letting adora try for a moment until she just says ‘No way am I letting a horde soldier taking this sword!’ and goes for the self- destructive option.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Catra doesn’t really need much elaboration on her anger. Catra ended up projecting her anger over shadow weaver’s abuse onto adora, simply because adora was never a target. It wasn’t as forward as glimmer’s anger was though. It built up over time since catra always tried to mask her true feelings through sarcasm or false confidence. Catra just let it continue to grow and grow until something had to give. Adora leaving is what broke the straw on the camel’s back, and catra just let her negative emotions take the driver’s seat. It’s not until eleven episodes later that she even feels a pang of regret for everything she’s done, after scorpia and entrapta remind her of the friend she used to have.
Tumblr media
Glimmer, meanwhile is able to calm down and reevaluate her situation. It takes her a minute, but after she’s given some room to think and actually see the girl she’s been demonizing this whole time...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glimmer starts to let go of her anger, and see reality. Simply, glimmer has better control of her anger than catra does.
Tumblr media
Finally, the biggest similarity and the one people recognize most right away is the duo’s relationship with adora and how she affects them in different ways.
In the case of glimmer, adora’s presence lets her take a role she hadn’t had much experience in before...as someone to rely on. For most of her life, she’s mainly just been put into a position where she has had to rely on others. People thinking she won’t be able to fight for her people like bow and the soldiers in the castle do. Glimmer living her life thinking she wouldn’t be able to live up to her mother’s reputation or her standards, tried too hard to earn her good graces. After meeting adora however, this status quo changes. Glimmer throughout the show helps adora with little things. Such as what a wind chime is or just someone to be a shoulder to lean on about her insecurities. By the time they reach mystacor, glimmer had become a completely different person than she was before adora, and her relationships with others have changed too. She’s gotten closer to her mother, she’s gotten the recognition of her peers, and she’s been able to do what she’s been yearning to do for years. Fight the horde and protect everything she held dear. That’s all thanks to adora being in glimmer’s life, making her a better version of herself overall.
Catra on the other hand experienced a different effect from adora’s influence, or in this case lack there of. After adora left, it forced catra to take things more seriously. Adora wasn’t there to bail her out anymore. That meant catra couldn’t just nonchalantly live in the horde like she had been. Adora was the only thing keeping her from abuse by shadow weaver. With her gone, there was no reason for shadow weaver to keep her around. She’d have to take the initiative and prove her worth in the battle, without her only friend. Shockingly, despite everyone’s hatred of her, the restrictions she was given, and the constant threats of death from her superior, she was successful overall. Thanks to adora’s absence, catra was able to discover what she was truly capable of. On just her second mission out in the field she heavily damaged an entire enemy kingdom, defeated and captured the leader of the rebellion, while stealing the main weapon of the horde’s greatest enemy, and she barely even broke a sweat trying. That’s not even mentioning that during that mission, she got into a confrontation with the revered former force captain. A confrontation, where she also barely tried and was still wining with ease.
This victory sent the gears turning in catra’s head. All she needed was another push towards the right direction, and when she entered the first ones temple she got her push. Seeing how reliant she was on adora and the meek nature she used to posses around her allowed catra to come to a realization. She was stronger and more successful when adora wasn’t around. She had become more confident in herself than times previous and this was no false confidence either. She was sure that she had a place in the horde. Possibly a place atop the throne. Catra had even amassed a small group of friends. Friends that didn’t like her just because they were on the same team or fake about it. They were outcasts like her and she was glad they found a place with her.
Tumblr media
Catra’s entire life in the horde changed for the better without adora, so why have her come back? She was better off without her.
In the end glimmer and catra are basically the same person, it’s just different upbringings and developments in later life that makes them seem so polar opposite to each other. Seeing these two interact later on down the road will be a real spectacle when you take these facts into consideration. Witnessing a now unstoppable force of pride and confidence in catra, clashing with an unshakable will and inherent compassion that has now manifested with glimmer. It’s an interaction I can’t wait to see.

GLITRADORA WEEK PROMPT 3 @glitradora-week
There are always three cups on the kitchen counter of the palace when they get home.
Warm milk for Catra, hot chocolate for Glimmer and berry tea for Adora.
Glimmer thinks it's Adora making them. Adora thinks it's Glimmer.
Neither of them think it's Catra. Not because she wouldn't think to make some for the others, but after the Popcorn Incident, they both know she's still slightly scared of the stove.
Anyhow, after after a long day, none of them question it. The gear gets chucked in a corner, and they all take the mugs and collapse onto Glimmer's bed. It's the biggest.
Glimmer lies on Adora's arm, and Adora's fingers are woven through Glimmer's hair. Catra curls up between them. She complains about it, but they all know that she secretly wouldn't have it any other way.
And once they're all asleep, Bow sneaks in and takes the mugs. Her drops a kiss on Glimmer's forehead, knowing his girlfriend will share some snuggles with him tomorrow.
Then he takes the mugs, washes them and leaves them dry for next time. After making them for weeks, he's got the girls favorite drinks memorized.
Hope everyone likes it! I don't know when Glitradora Week was, but this popped up on my feed and I just had to. Love short stories, tell me if there are any others you want me to do. Plz like and follow for more!

A Day at a Time - Mornings
Time for more Glitradora nonsense, this time with plenty of Catradora, that nice sprinkle of Glitra at the end and just a little bit of thirst
Here is the AO3 link for those who prefer to read over there and I ope you guys enjoy the read
Catra woke up to the sound of an alarm for the first time in months. It took her a little longer than usual to get up today, both because it was earlier than her usual time and because she had to calm down Melog, who had jumped up to defend her from her cellphone. It looked like she wouldn’t be the only one suffering to get used to this little change.
“You don’t get to complain, you little bastard.” She complained at her cat, “This is all your fault.” She tried to look stern, but Melog gave her the most innocent look in the world and she could only roll her eyes and give the cat his good morning scratches.
She dragged herself through her routine with a little extra grogginess, barely aware of what she was doing until she was outside the apartment building, watching Adora stretch. She certainly could watch Adora do that all day, but she came down here for a reason.
“Hey, Adora.”
“Catra!” She replied with a beaming smile. “I’m almost done here, then we can start. Did you already do your stretches?”
“Yeah… sure” Catra answered, not very convincingly.
“You should stretch before and after any intense physical activity!”
“What are you? My personal trainer?” Catra joked.
“If you want to, but you’d have to contact my gym and try to schedule time with me.” She answered, “I could offer you a friends and family discount though!”
“How about we stick to workout buddies for now?” She was certainly interested in becoming closer in the future, but not in a way that strained her already limited budget.
“Yeah, sounds good,” Adora replied with a chuckle “Now do your stretches before we start.”
Adora patiently guided Catra through her stretches and soon they were jogging. Catra hadn’t done any form of exercise since… well since that whole mess happened, so it was understandably hard for her to keep up with an actual fitness instructor. Still, she refused to make Adora stop, so she kept running and running and running, until Adora slowed down and started walking.
“W-what’s the matter?” She panted “Why’re we slowing down?”
“Just helping you pace yourself.” Adora answered calmly. She had barely worked up a sweat. “We can walk until you can jog again. Just drink your water and try not to push yourself.”
“I can keep going!” Catra insisted, ignoring how much her muscles burned.
“Are you sure?” Adora asked, a little worried now “There is no shame in walking.”
“I said I can keep going!”
~~~
“Just breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth,” Adora gently guided Catra. “Take deep breaths.”
Catra was sitting on the ground, trying really hard not to vomit after pushing herself far past where she should. The breathing exercises were helping a little bit though.
“Here, have some water,” Adora offered up her water bottle. “Just take small sips.”
It took Catra some self control not to chug it all down at once after over exerting herself like this, but she trusted the fitness instructor when it came to this at least.
“Feeling better?” Adora asked.
“Yeah.” She answered, still panting a little.
“So how about we pace ourselves a little better next time?” Adora proposed, earning a death glare from Catra. “That way you can get better at it and tell me to shut up.”
“I like that idea,” Catra forced herself to stand up. “But I think I’m gonna be walking the rest of the way today.”
“Oh so you’re done showing off for today?” Adora joked.
“I’ll fight you!” Catra exclaimed without missing a beat, earning a giggle from Adora.
“You sure you can do that right now?” Adora teased, “Maybe I should go wrestle with Melog if I want a challenge.”
“If I wasn’t dying right now, I’d kick your ass.” Catra declared, looking Adora dead in the eye.
Before they both burst out laughing.
“You can make good on that promise after you get some rest, okay?” Adora joked as they made their way back.
“Yeah” Catra agreed, dragging herself along. “I think I’ve done enough exercising for the week.”
“You mean the day.” She corrected “Because we’re gonna go jogging again tomorrow.”
“Ugh, fuck me.” Catra complained. She could have sworn she heard Adora mutter something in response, but she didn’t quite catch it. “What did you say?”
“I could give you a break,” Adora answered. It sounded close enough to what Catra heard. “It’s important to get some rest, but you gotta promise me you’ll come back the next day, because I’m not losing my workout partner that easy.”
“Fine.” She groaned.
~~~
The past few days had been both the best and worst days Catra’s had in months. She was very sore every day when she got to work and went to bed dreading to have to do it all over again. But every morning, she couldn’t help but feel excited to work out and spend more time with Adora, and afterwards she always felt a rush of satisfaction of having done just a little better than the day before. She really needed this.
Of course, all that positivity didn’t stop her from constantly groaning and complaining every time. Adora didn’t seem to mind it much - hell, she was probably enjoying it - she just kept teasing and challenging Catra to keep her coming back each day, but still making sure she always paced herself properly.
Adora had also started texting Catra about things other than their work outs. Catra couldn’t remember talking to someone this much ever in her life, but she was certainly not complaining. Adora was the most annoyingly happy and optimistic person Catra ever met and it could be infuriating at times, but she was also a little shit and she appreciated that.
Still their little chats could only do so much to quell the tedium of her day to day life and that became even worse during the weekend. Without her usual work hours and Adora telling her to take the time to rest and recover, she felt like there was a massive vacuum in her day that she simply did not know how to fill and so she spent most of her weekend doing nothing at all; she just waited for the day to be over. Sometimes the days went in the blink of an eye, and sometimes she was left alone with her thoughts for hours.
Today was one of the long days and after an hour of lazing around and mindlessly scrolling through the same three social media apps, Catra forced herself off of the couch and tried to shake away the haziness. She was working out now every day, if she could do that then she could do whatever the fuck she wanted and she would not let her day go by in meaningless stupor.
Catra was going to bake.
It took her awhile to google a simple recipe, now she just had to buy the actual ingredients since she had been living on nothing but instant noodles and frozen pizza for a while now. She made a quick trip to her favorite grocery store - the one with the nice cashier that always got her gender right - and returned with her hands full of everything she needed to make some bread.
Unfortunately Melog must have thought that this wasn’t enough of hassle, because as soon as she opened the door to her apartment he bolted out between her legs. “Again?” She yelled as she raced after the little bastard, groceries still in hand. “What is with you this week?”
She didn’t know what she expected from the little shit, but without warning he turned around and started running circles around his owner, keeping her planted in place.
“I can’t pick you up like this, you stupid cat.” She complained, “Can’t you see my hands are full?”
“Hey, is everything alright there?” A voice asked from one of the nearby apartments. Standing in the doorway was that same girl with the bright pink and purple hair, except this time her usual work attire had been replaced with a black shirt with a nearly unreadable metal band logo, and sweatpants. “Do you need some help?”

“Broken Noses and Bad Ideas” - Glitradora fanfic part 5
More plot! Enjoy!
P.S. This is up on Ao3 too!
Part 1    Part 2    Part 3    Part 4
----
Catra tangled her hands in Glimmer’s hair. She tasted like strawberries and smoke, soft hands tugging Catra closer by her collar. There was a rush behind the kiss, a passion and warmth that felt right, but Catra couldn’t quite tell if the unrest in her gut was butterflies or nerves. No matter what reaction the kiss caused in her, it didn’t last nearly long enough. Catra broke away with a sharp heat in her chest as she stared into Glimmer’s wide eyes, fingers still twisted in hot pink hair.
Catra smiled as Glimmer giggled, both of them devolving into laughter as they leaned against each other. “God, I think too high for this,” Glimmer said through her laughter.
“You looked pretty sober just then,” Catra said. “Regretting me already?”
Glimmer didn’t catch the edge in her voice. “I still liked it.”
“You did?”
“Yeah.”
“Good.” Catra kissed her again. It was harsher this time, more urgent. Glimmer held tight to Catra as she ended up on her back, with Catra’s hands on her waist and the taste of her on Glimmer’s lips.
Glimmer gasped as Catra’s grip on her tightened. She planted her hands against Catra’s chest and pushed her back just enough to break the kiss. Catra frowned. “I know I’m too high for this,” Glimmer finally whispered.
“Listen, Sparkles, if you don’t want this then we can just forget it happened,” Catra said.
“No, it’s not that I… look, I just make stupid decisions when I’m like this sometimes,” Glimmer explained. “I don’t want to mess this up.”
Catra laughed that cold, hollow laugh of hers as she bumped her nose against Glimmer’s. “Princess, you can’t mess things up with me.” She sat back and pulled Glimmer into her lap. “I’m okay if we leave it at this tonight. We can stupid decisions the next time we see each other. Sound good?”
“Yeah, sounds good.” She wrapped her arms around Catra and closed her eyes.
Catra’s smile faded as she cradled Glimmer’s head against her chest, and she couldn’t figure out why. She knew she was happy, or should be, but something held her back. As her phone buzzed in her pocket, she realized the weight dragging her mood through the mud. “I know this is like the worst time, but I need to get back,” she sighed. She fell back on her tried and true lie when work came calling during her time with Glimmer. “Scorpia and Lonnie have been giving me shit about being away lately.”
“I’m not keeping you from work, am I?”
“No, they’re just not used to me being out so much.”
“Okay,” Glimmer said. Catra held onto her for a moment longer before they returned to the front seats. She rubbed her eyes as she started the car. “Wait, are you okay to drive?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’ve driven in a worse state before.”
Catra drove back to the shop in silence, nodding along to the radio. She didn’t check her phone; she already knew who was messaging her and she didn’t want a chance of Glimmer seeing. She wanted to keep that bright smile on Glimmer’s face for as long as possible.
The sun disappeared beneath the horizon just as they pulled up alongside the sidewalk. When Glimmer went to open the door, Catra grabbed her hand. “Hey, Sparkles?”
“Yeah?”
Catra pressed a fierce kiss to her lips. When she pulled back, Glimmer’s eyes were wide and her cheeks were dusted with red. Catra grinned. “I think I’m going to like that look you get,” she said as she tapped a finger against Glimmer’s cheek.
Glimmer’s blush grew darker as she smiled. “Call me later?”
“You got it.”
Glimmer smiled and squeezed Catra’s hand before she disappeared into the store. Catra’s smile faded as soon as Glimmer was out of sight. The engine roared as she took off down the street. She checked her phone for the address and nearly hit a garbage can in the process, but she knew where she needed to go. Reaching beneath her seat, she grabbed a pistol.
She caught the guy just outside his apartment building. The gun was cold against her stomach, hidden in her waistband as she approached him with a cold grin. “Hey, Cole!” she called. “Come here, I need to talk to you.”
The man stumbled to a stop, fear written across his face. With a scream starting in his throat, he turned on his heels and ran. Catra shouted after him and bolted, snagging the back of his collar and choking him as she yanked him to a stop. She tossed him face first into an alley and pulled the gun.
“What the fuck was that, man?!” she hissed. “I’m trying to fucking talk to you and you try to run? You think that’s a good decision?”
“I-I-I’m sorry, I didn’t know who you were,” the man lied, scrambling back on his hands.
“Oh, bullshit!” Catra stuck the gun in his face. “Do you think I’m stupid?”
“No, no of course not.”
“Then why the fuck are you lying?”
“I’m not, I mean, I didn’t-”
Catra laughed and hit him upside the head with the butt of the pistol. He collapsed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. “Wow, you are so much dumber than you look,” Catra chuckled. She crouched, inspecting the gun and cutting a sideways glance at the man. “So, listen, I don’t want to be here long because I, you know, I have a life and things to do. You owe a mutual friend of ours some money, right?”
“I-I, uh…”
“Right?” Catra pressed. “I wouldn’t be here if you didn’t, so just say right.”
“Right.”
“Good. Now, there’s the matter of getting the money.”
“I don’t have it yet. I’ll have it in a few days, I swear. I was supposed to get a bonus and it didn’t come through,” the man explained.
Catra hit him again. “Really! Again with the lying!”
“No! I swear to God, it’s the truth!”
“You were supposed to have the money days ago. You know Hordak doesn’t give second chances.”
“I know.”
“Obviously you don’t or I wouldn’t be here, would I?”
The man lifted a trembling hand as if it would block a bullet. “I’ll have it by Friday, I promise.”
“You’ll bring it to me tomorrow. You’re going to get a message from a number you don’t know and you’re going to go where it says, when it says. After that you delete the conversation and the number. Understand?”
“Yeah, yeah, I understand.”
Catra smirked, rising from her crouch and holding her pistol up. “I don’t have to tell you what’ll happen if you’re late, right?”
The man swallowed hard. “No, no, I got it.”
“Good.” Catra kicked him savagely in the gut. He doubled over as all the air was forced from his lungs. “Swear on your life you won’t be late.”
“I swear!” he choked out.
Catra kicked him again. “Swear on your life!”
“I swear on my life!”
“Good.” Part of Catra cringed, wondering how many times she had heard Hordak say the same thing in the same tone, but she pushed it away. “I will see you and your money tomorrow.”
Catra shoved her gun in her waistband and left the man curled up on the ground in the alley. As she headed back towards the house, she called Hordak.
“Catra,” the raspy voice greeted.
“He’ll have the money tomorrow. I made sure of it. I’ll send it in as soon as I can,” Catra said.
“Excellent. I will be expecting the payment. Well done, Catra.”
“Thank you, sir.” She held the phone away to hang up, but Hordak’s voice stopped her.
“One more thing.”
“Yes?”
“Do you remember the incident we were involved in last year in Etheria?”
Catra’s grip on the phone tightened as her stomach dropped. “What about it?”
“It seems there have been some rumors about it being looked into again. I am still waiting on a confirmation, but I thought it would be wise to tell you now.”
Catra slowed down. She thought she was about to puke. “Is anything being done about it?”
“Not at the moment. I will decide what actions to take once I have a confirmation. Be vigilant for anyone who might be a threat until I contact you again.”
“Yes sir.”
Hordak hung up. Catra dropped her phone into the passenger seat where Glimmer had been sitting not an hour before. She stomped on the brakes, and the van came to a screeching halt in the middle of the street. Her nails made marks on the scuffed leather steering wheel. She was practically hyperventilating, lips pursed so tightly that they disappeared as a car honked and swerved around her. She flipped off the driver.
Recovering some of her sense, she pulled over and put the vehicle in park. A violent string of curses slipped through her teeth. Of course this had to come up after she just got done making out with that woman’s daughter! If Hordak found out…
No, he couldn’t find out. She couldn’t even consider that possibility. She needed a way to spin this if Hordak decided to send people in.
He said be vigilant, she thought. What was more vigilant than spending so much time with the daughter and keeping an eye on who she was talking to?
Glimmer already trusted her, that was obvious, and Bow seemed friendly enough that it would be easy to cozy up to him. But Adora was another story. Did Glimmer mention how long they had been friends? What did Adora know about this whole situation? What stakes did she have besides trying to fix Glimmer the way she did with everyone?
That thought sent a surge of feral hate through her. Adora and her incessant meddling would be a problem, but not one she couldn’t handle. She just needed to find out how Adora was involved. She needed to keep her at a distance.
That couldn’t be too hard, could it?
---
Catra found her way to the magic store about a week after Glimmer kissed her. Hordak had yet to contact her about the incident again, only more assignments to visit, but the call weighed on her the entire week. She had to come up with a plan to keep Adora from snooping in her business if she was going to stay around Glimmer. Whether she had a clue about her present dealings or not, Adora knew her past far too well.
As fate and her cruel sense of humor would have it, Catra found that keeping Adora at a distance would be harder than she previously thought.
They locked eyes across the shop when Catra stepped through the door. Catra glanced at some woman looking through dried plants, and the ghost of a smirk tugged at her lips. Adora forced her best retail smile. Catra noticed the slight squint as she fought a scowl. She made herself busy looking over crystal pendulums as the other customer finished her purchase. As soon as the woman was out the door, Adora spoke up.
“What are you doing here?” she demanded.
“I thought we went over that like a month ago,” Catra taunted. “Did you hit your head or something? I always knew you were dumb, but your memory was never this bad.”
“In the store, what are you doing in the store?” Adora snapped. Catra noted that her voice still got that high squawking tone to it when she was frustrated.
“I like it here.”
“You hate anything to do with magic. You always have.”
Catra froze, a tiny crystal trapped between her sharpened nails. “Yeah, well, I’ve still got some old habits that I picked up from that woman, I guess.”
Adora bowed her head as her fists clenched. “Catra, listen, I-”
“Don’t start.” There was a surprising lack of venom in her words. “Don’t act like you have any sympathy for me. Don’t act like you still know me! You have no idea what happened to me after you left!”
This was already not going how she planned.
“Hey, that’s not fair!” Adora protested. “I tried to get you to leave with me but you wanted to stay with those criminals!”
“You left me with criminals! You left me with Shadow Weaver and disappeared and didn’t care to check if I was alive or dead for six years!”
“You did that to yourself.”
“Oh, go fuck yourself, Adora!”
“Stop screaming!” Adora stepped out from behind the counter. “This is Glimmer’s store. I’m not going to let you give her business a bad reputation because we’re here fighting and yelling swears at each other.”
Catra huffed and turned away. “Whatever.”
Adora hesitated for a second before returning to her spot at the register. “Do you need help finding anything?”
“My band’s van has more storage space than this place, I don’t know how I could possibly miss anything.”
“That’s fair. You know, you seem like you did pretty well for yourself, all things considering. You’ve got Lonnie and the guys and that tall woman.”
“Scorpia. You know she was raised in that place with us.”
“You said that.”
Catra rolled her eyes. “You didn’t do horrible either, but I guess you were always good at everything the first time around.”
“You don’t know what I went through trying to make a new life!”
“Whatever. Did you fall right in with Sparkles when you got here?”
“Her name is Glimmer,” Adora seethed. You have no idea what I call her, Catra thought smugly as Adora continued, “And not that it’s any of your business, but yeah, she helped me when I first came to Etheria.”
“Lucky you.” Catra glanced at the portrait of the woman over Adora’s head. “Who’s that?”
Adora’s face twisted. “None of your business.”
“Kind of looks like Sparkles.”
“She owned the store but again, it’s none of your business!”
“Then don’t answer.”
Pursing her lips, Adora sighed and focused on something behind the counter. “How… How did you get out? I mean, with all of you. I was hardly able to sneak out by myself.”
Catra shrugged. “We didn’t have to sneak. After you left, everything started going to shit and eventually things got shut down.”
“What happened to everyone?”
“Hell if I know. We both know that place wasn’t legit. The only reason you had all your papers to run off with is because Shadow Weaver took some weird interest in you. I think I have my social security card and that’s it. Rogelio and Kyle might not even have that.”
“And Hordak just what, disappeared?”
“I haven’t heard anything about him,” Catra lied.
“I find it hard to believe that someone like that psychopath would just up and leave.”
“You think he’s going to stick around for a failed business venture? Use your head, Adora.”
“What about Shadow Weaver?”
Catra’s blood turned to ice in her veins. The image of dark hair and a covered face filled her mind, every thought suddenly tinged with deep, bloody crimson. Phantom pain pulsed from her fingertips and shot all the way up through her head. She turned to Adora with a savage, wide eyed snarl.
The door opened before Catra could respond. She wiped the expression from her face as she and Adora turned to Glimmer standing in the doorway, holding two coffee cups.
“Hey Adora, I’m… oh, hey Catra.”
“Sparkles,” Catra said with a wave.
Glimmer set a cup down in front of Adora, whose eyes were trained on Catra. “I got your coffee,” she said. Glancing between them, she lowered her voice and leaned closer to Adora. Catra turned aside and pretended not to listen. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Adora said. She grabbed her cup. “Thanks. Hey, we got a new delivery, can you help me go through it? It’s the one with all the statues.”
“Mind ringing me up, Sparkles?” Catra butted in, holding a crystal in her hand.
“Yeah, no problem!” Glimmer said with a smile. She touched Adora’s arm. “I’ll be back in a minute, okay?”
Still scowling at Catra, Adora squeezed Glimmer’s shoulder and retreated to the back room. Catra watched her hand trail across Glimmer’s back as she left. Glimmer didn’t seem to notice. She was too busy smiling at Catra.
Catra fixed a smirk on her face and set the crystal on the counter. “Do I still get a discount?” she purred.
“For saving my ass, sure,” Glimmer chuckled.
Catra leaned over the counter like she had the first day she met. “Can I pay with a kiss?”
Glimmer’s smile faded a touch as she turned aside. “Not here,” she said, her voice low. “I, uh… I haven’t told Adora anything.”
“Well, that explains why she didn’t strangle me when I walked in.”
“I just don't know how to bring it up.”
“Princess, I don’t care if she ever knows. I don’t have a problem being a dirty little secret if you want.”
“That’s not what I want.”
Catra frowned, confusion contorting her features, but she replaced it with a quick smile. “Then you’ll figure it out,” she said. She handed Glimmer cash for the crystal and took the little paper bag. Catching her hand, she pulled Glimmer in and pecked her cheek. Glimmer stifled her laugh as Catra grinned.
“I’ll call you later, okay?” the shorter girl said.
“Sounds good. Don’t keep me waiting.” “I won’t.”
Catra flashed one last smile before heading out into the street. The sky was dark gray with early spring thunderheads, threatening another long stretch of rain. Catra smelled a storm in the air.
A stiff frown took over her expression as she drove home. She learned what she needed, for the most part, but it only confirmed everything that would make this harder for her. Adora would be in her way the entire time unless she kept Glimmer away from her. Maybe she could convince Glimmer to keep her “dirty little secret” for a little longer.
There was an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway. Catra tensed and reached under her seat for her gun. This is either going to be bad or horrible, she thought as she hid the weapon in her waistband.
She edged the door open, eyes sweeping the room. “Scorpia?” she called. “Lonnie, guys, you home?”
“In here, Catra!” Scorpia replied from the kitchen.
Catra sighed in relief and followed her voice. “Did you guys rent a car or something? If you want the van then just…”
Her voice trailed off as she was met with a pair of sickly green eyes. Long blond hair was slicked back from a thin, sharp face, and the intruder grinned with a mouth full of unnaturally sharp teeth. They waggled their fingers at her as Scorpia smiled and waved.
“Look who came for a visit!” she said, blissfully oblivious.
Double Trouble rose from their seat. “It is lovely to see you again, Kitten.”

Here Comes the First Day: Updates!
Real life is still inconveniently preventing me from spending 12 hours a day writing and editing fanfic (rude!), but I’m not done with this series just yet—I’ve published two new sweet and fluffy stories in the past few weeks:
(as close as) how close i wanna get — When you’re a queen of Bright Moon, dating someone involves paperwork. And Glimmer’s dating three “someones.”
the pain pays our dues — Catra wants to give Adora something special, but nothing seems special enough.
After that, I’ve got some very spicy Glitradora sketched out that I’m just dying to write—and then, at long last, the grand finale of Here Comes the First Day.
Sort of.
As a matter of metadata, anyway.
Once I’ve tied off the last remaining “plot” threads I left dangling in June, I’m going to call that the end of the series. And additional stories in that continuity—which I fully intend to keep writing, as real life permits—will be posted as one-shots in a new collection called the corners of today.
The start of my fic-writing hiatus also turned out to be the start of a new chapter in my own life—catalyzed, in a lot of ways, by that series itself—so it feels appropriate to both wrap it up, in one way, and set it up for a long and sustainable future in another.
(Also, I have some ideas for She-Ra fics that aren’t part of the HCtFD continuity, and this will help me feel a little freer to write them.)
Thanks, as always, for reading. See you soon.

Hello! I just want to say I adore your art and AVEC so fluffing much, and I love how you keep going with Glimmadora even after Catradora become cannon[[because Honestly Glimmadora is the only true endgame]] and I was wondering if you had any tips on how to push through the whole crowd of Catradora fans that will shower Glimmadora fans with hate to make a fan fiction, or how to ignore the negativity and just ship the ship with no fear of being hated on?
First off, thank you so much! It’s hearing compliments and comments that help keep me going. But also, I’m gonna go a bit into fandom and lit history to explain this shit.
It seems like a lot of younger people nowadays have this notion that you can’t argue with canon. People argue with canon all the time and have their own interpretations of it, and have for CENTURIES. If you know anything about literature or art history, you know how completely true this is. Many aspects of the Bible were poorly translated in English. People have been arguing over what the fuck the Great Gatsby was trying to say for decades, now. The original Hunchback of Notre Dame was written to help spread awareness of preserving historical structures like the Notre Dame (rip), but slowly became interpreted as a piece depicting the struggles of the Romani and other marginalized groups.
But if you wanna talk more modern - take a look at other fandoms. Fandoms I’m not even involved with give me a sense of hope. People have been writing Kirk / Spock for Star Trek for decades now, and is literally credited as one of the first widespread slash pairings. Just on AO3 alone, there are 2,300+ Zuko / Katara fics, compared to the 1,100+ Aang / Katara ones. Even Zuko’s VA, Dante Bosco, is an avid Zutara fan that’s helped a lot with Zutara fan creations. And, my god, I don’t even care for Naruto or Harry Potter, but I know those fandoms have thousands of slash fics - and as far as I’m aware, there’s no canon LGBTQ+ couples in either piece of media.
I was totally bitter after S5. There were a lot of aspects of the season that upset me, and it wasn’t just the fact that Glimmer and Adora’s relationship got severely neglected. I may make a long post about that another day, and I would need to rewatch S5 to do make a coherent critique. But at some point, I remembered all of what I just said -- people have argued with canon for centuries.
I’m not wrong for seeing Glimmadora as romantic. I saw a story of a girl breaking away from a toxic, manipulative environment, and coming into one where she could truly be herself. And as someone who has personally broken away from a homophobic cult, I deeply related to this. This is why I’ve always connected to G/A better than C/A. At the end of the day, I have no beef with most C/A fans. I can see why they enjoy the ship, but it’s just not for me.
Just remember that there’s more to life than fandom. After S5, I went on a long hike and it really cleared my mind. I took a week hiatus from AVEC, just to clear my head a bit longer. And now, I’m back in the swing of things. I’m currently in the early stages of creating a Glitradora interactive novel with some good friends. Creation will help you, and in the end, it’s an incredibly healthy outlet.
Learn to accept what happen in canon, and to accept that you aren’t wrong for seeing G/A as romantic. Also, avoid Twitter, they really hate G/A over there for some reason. Like, viscerally. Don’t interact with people who give you shit, they just want to get a rise out of you. Hate breeds hate.

glitradora dealing with problems shadow weaver cause them with the help eachother.
->
Brightmoon was at its brightest.
Catra feels that best describes the week that follows Queen Angella’s return. The kingdom was glowing with joy. Festivals and celebrations sang across the castle. The reunion between king and queen had been a tear jerker. Catra would never admit how close to tears she had been when the king had gently embraced his wife, whispering ‘my angel’ to a crying queen.

In one of your old posts (I might be incorrect, if so I apologize) I think you said Cora was like Ty Lee, often running away, and in another you said Frosta was 'Baby Ringleader' which leads to the question of... Did they ever try to start a circus?
Cora is actually a circus performer as an adult!!! They ran away and joined as a teen and was like ‘Oh...My Purpose!!’ but I don’t think they’d ever really discovered their passion for performing (or accepted it) before that.
Or, they probably thought they just couldn’t? I think Cora was really sensitive to the idea that they had to ‘make something’ of themself bc of their famous parentage - especially after Nikala took to politics and business so robustly. So Cora rebelled against that by getting into trouble and not doing a Whole Lot for many of their early years.
When they finally found that performance was what they wanted (and when glitradora finally tracked them down after Cora had been on the run with the circus for like a week) they all kind of had an argument about it that ended in a lot of healing when Glimmer, Catra, and Adora finally figured out what had been bothering Cora and making them run away and they got to tell them that they loved that Cora had found something! They didn’t mind at all that it was performance! They were just mad bc they’d been worried and Cora had left without telling them and they loved Cora very much! //cue them all breaking down and crying on eachother.
That kind of got off topic but with Frosta - I can imagine her helping Cora do cool stunts with her ice magic when they were a kid at least! :’)
