I’m so genuinely pissed off that a show that was supposed to have one its core relationships be an endgame triad is now going to have a series finale that effectively calls polyamory bullshit that I cannot full express how upset I am. It’s not just that we *never* see polyamory unless it’s a joke or a failed relationship; it’s that this unplanned ending destroys one of the core tenets of the show. By ending the arc two-thirds of the way through, it doesn’t just make the arc pointless: it turns it against itself.

Max, Audrey, and Aki were endgame and now they’re broken up forever. They’ve been building to a triad since their first scene and now that’s all for nothing, not because of the writing but because of the network and I’m just so sad about stories that don’t get endings, that don’t get to finish what they were trying to say. I know it’s the gossip girl reboot of all things but there was a story here! There was a point, an argument, an outright statement that polyamory can work and three people can love each other and be in a happy, healthy relationship and now, because the story gets a stop but not an end, we don’t get to see that. These kids were going to spend the next season getting over and through their growing pains and they were going to be endgame and now? Now they’re just the feelings I have about them, I guess
