Book: A Piece of Your Mind for Peace of Mind

Author: Manali Desai

Review: 'A piece of your mind for peace of mind' is a collection of poetry that touches upon emotions and situation we all face in our daily lives. The author has tried to write down her feelings through this book in the form of poetry. It is a treat of heart-warming poems and there are two poems I felt where I was imagining myself in place of the characters. The two poems which stole my heart are 'Full Circle' and 'Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall'. Manali has done a fantastic work. Superb!

✨Review✨ Animal by Lisa Taddeo . SPOILERS . Ok, but hear me out 🙃😓 . I just finished reading this book and I has HYPED about it when I was starting but omg was I expecting more. I was truly and sadly disappointed by it. First, the good bits: I thought Lisa Taddeo’s writing style was beautiful and the main character was fascinating and complex, so you get a good insight on this woman’s head who is both empathic and ruthless. Now, I also felt like some of the lines were just trying to hard to be scandalous with shocking descriptions of abuse, miscarriage and offensive dialogue, but with very minimal purpose assigned to these events and descriptions, some paragraphs or even whole scenes could have been cut off without affecting the storyline which was also VERY slow for the first 250pages. Even though it was not my cup of tea I feel like I would read more of Taddeo’s work, I think she makes interesting points and as I said: beautiful writing. . You don’t exactly expect it to happen until you’re crash landing into someone else’s arms, wondering how the hell you lost the battle against gravity in the first place.” ✨🏠✨ Final Offer by Lauren Asher is the third and final instalment in the Dreamland Billionaires series, this time following the dual narratives of Callahan “Cal” Kane and Alana “Lana” Castillo. I have to admit that this was by far my favourite of the trilogy! The friends to lovers (not once, but twice!) meant that the banter and the tension were incredibly amped up, and the smut scenes reflected that. I loved how the fluffy cuteness could transition into steamy spice without being awkward. The characters well well-rounded, and I enjoyed the exploration of their past relationship, as well as their current one, and I very much liked that while the inheritance played a part of the story, it wasn’t as much of the main focus, unlike the last two books. I also have to admit that I loved that both the previous couples made appearances in this book, as it felt like it tied them together nicely. The discussion around substance abuse and the road to recovery was, for the most part, handled incredibly well. However, I didn’t agree with the fact that Cal seemed to be so focused on making Lana his reason for staying sober; I feel like the book would have benefited if we saw a bit more of Cal doing it for himself, rather than her or the inheritance.
