         𝐃𝐀𝐏𝐇𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐋𝐔𝐑𝐑𝐘 𝐖𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐄𝐋𝐃 –– rain came down furiously, like it was trying to punish them for driving in this weather. As a result, she couldn’t see ANYTHING. The windshield wipers worked overtime to push past the slosh of water, but it helped only marginally. Purple lightning FLASHED through the sky, electrifying the world around them in a shock of white. Daphne fought to swallow her sudden panic. She was a good driver. She’d driven through snow storms and sand blasts but this was something else.  She didn’t glance at Velma then, afraid to take her eyes off whatever bits of road she could see, but nearly voiced her concern. I’m scared, Velma. 

❛ I can’t drive through this, ❜ she blurted, eventually, white-knuckle grip keeping them both aloft through this watery apocalypse. ❛ WE NEED TO PULL OVER! ❜ Daphne realized she was shouting now. Shouting because she could barely hear what Velma said in return. The storm had gobbled them up right into its mouth. 

She couldn’t hear anything at all.

So--college, right? Soooooooo way different from high school. Like, even different from what Mrs. K (rest in pieces, lol) kept insisting it would be like. The campuses were huge, nobody really gave a shit if you went to class or not, and it was a lot easier to be on your phone during lessons. That, mixed with the absence of MKay in her life, was almost a total bummer.

Almost.

Except that in her beginner's psych course was a total   CELEBRITY   from a few years ago and, yes, Sadie was 100% ready to take advantage of that. It wasn’t hard to find the girl before class, any more than it was to stroll up to her seat, lean over her table, and start talking.

“Dakota. Fucking. Anderson.” Sadie couldn’t--wouldn’t!--help the smile spreading over her face, tucking her mouth briefly into her hand to hold back a squeal (which...yuck!, how fangirly) before turning those too-bright eyes onto the other girl. “I cannot believe I’m really meeting you right now. I’m Sadie Cunningham--from Rosedale.”

Shit, right. She wasn’t supposed to be happy about that. She let herself deflate for a hot second thinking of Jordan--booooo!--and laughed almost self-consciously, curling painted fingers into her short hair before trying again. “You know. ‘Rosedale’! Home of the Rosedale Slasher.” Fucking amateur. We did better than him in way less time. “Sorry, morbid. But, like--I heard about you when Mkay and I--my best friend, she’s the half the reason I survived, y’know?--were on the interview circuit. I never would have guessed we went to the same school, let alone had a class together! How crazy is that?”

The  world  regresses  to  hunter  &  hunted  when  the  mind  is  bogged  down  by  anger,  a  thirst  for  vengeance  &  trauma.    Jennifer  can’t  comfortably  reside  in  the  rustic  scenery  of  a  countryside  without  imminent,  painful  flashbacks.   Jennifer  can’t  comfortably  reside  in  the  bustle  of  the  city  without  the  awful  paranoia  of  all  men’s  eyes  on  her  &  the  thirst  of  a  dark  hunger.    The  brunette  paces  just  outside;   she’s  waiting  for  Dakota.

The  only  peaceful  thing  Jennifer  has  is  her  friendship  with  Dakota.   A  stark  companionship  built  on  trust,  a  lack  of  paranoia  that  felt  easy  to  grasp  when  nothing  has  been  easy  to  grasp  since  leaving  Louisiana.   A  woman  with  a  heart  aching  for  peace  can’t  just  runaway.    There  is  always  something  going  on  in  Jennifer’s  head,   a  constant  battle  for  peace.   She’s  always  struggling  to  find  who  she  was  in  all  the  dark  that  lapsed  her  mind.   There’s  an  easiness  whenever  she’s  with  Dakota  that  gives  her  a  little  pen  light  of  hope.    Jennifer’s  apartment  has  bouquet  of  flowers  in  the  middle  of  her  table.    She’s  decorating  now,   that  little  ounce  of  motivation  to  decorate.

Jennifer  loves  flowers -   she  doesn’t  know  what  it  is.    So,  yeah,   she  was  cheesy  for  once.   There’s  a  bouquet  of  brightly  colored  flowers  in  her  hands.    The  colors  make  her  feel  just  the  slightest  better.

SO. 

idk if many people even really read my hcs for rachel besides my friends who i force to listen to me fksjnfsn. but! i think i will always have a difficult time trying to reconcile the interesting history i built for rachel w the fact that if i choose a fc that looks canon, it will be effectively whitewashing my own headcanon. while yes, obviously, there’s no “right” way to be x race, the reality is finding a fc who looks like rachel does and is actually indigenous would be like a needle in a mf haystack. a fc shouldn’t be a big deal, i’m aware i’m making a mountain out of a molehill, but it does make me feel shitty, and like a bad ally to poc. 

all this to say me from circa 2016 is going to fucking rage bc i’m gonna what i always said i thought was fucking dumb LMAO. i’m going to alter rachel’s headcanons to be closer to canon, and make my interpretations of rachel into an oc obviously based on rachel. that said, i’m still trying to decide if i’ll put her on this blog as a strictly lis-related oc, or put her on @crimsonwrit or @girlhoodhorror as a fandomless oc.
