'Secrets' Part 1

E.J Caswell x Reader

Summery: You have a secret that only Gina, Ashlynn, Nini, Carlos literally everyone in the theatre club knows. Even miss Jen. The only person that doesn't know is your boyfriend E.J. Your secret is that you work with the Flash and when your watch beeps three or more times it's an emergency. Here's where this gets interesting E.J being E.J asked everyone 'Why does she keep running of." Or even "Is she cheating on me?" So yeah your friends and E.J get kidnapped by one your's and Barry's enemies.

You and Gina were at your locker talking about what happend on your last mission when your boyfriend E.J Caswell came.

"Hey e.j." Gina said.

"Hey ranger rick." You said smiling.

"Hi." He said and kissed you, witch took you by surprise.

"Uhhh, best friend still here." Gina stated in annoyance.

"Right sorry, Gina. Oh Y/N I wanna tell you something?" E.J said to you.

"What about?" You asked your handsome boyfriend.

"Uhhh,"

The ball rung and you said,

"Tell me later. Gina and I have Science, we have Mr Fuller. If we're late he will give us detention."

"Bye." Gina said.

"See you later hotshot." You say while dragging Gina to scince.

"Okay, when are you gonna tell him."

"When the time is right."

"And when will the time be right. How long can you keep it up?"

"As long as I need to Gina."

"Really? This has gone on long enough."

"What has?"

"The secrets. The lies."

"If he knows, Marcus will use him agents me."

"Y/N."

"Look Mr Fuller is here so shut up."

In the middle of class your classmates decided to do a tick-tock joke.

"Mr Fuller? It's hot in here can you please turn the heater off." One of your idiotic classmates asked.

"No. You wanna know why. It's perfectly fine in here." Mr. Fuller said.

Everyone except you and Gina pretended to faint.

"Why aren't the two of you doing it." He asked.

"Mr Fuller. We can tell you're mad and we don't want to make you more angry." You say.

"Yeah. And when they said they were going to do it. Y/N and I thought how you would be feeling so, we decided not to do it." Gina continued.

"We tried really hard to get them to not do it but nothing we were doing was changing their minds." You finished.

"Thank you Y/N and Gina you can go out five minutes early." Mr. Fuller said greatly to you and Gina, and then continued, "As for the rest of you......afternoon detention."

"Urghhhhh." The class compland.

"Wanna make it a Saturday?"

"You have to tell E.J." Ashlynn said while the rest of your friends nodded in agreement.

"Have to tell me what?" E.J asked while coming to your lunch table.

"Uhhh, ummmm. E.J Uhh." All of a sudden your watch started beeping. Everyone looked at you with a look that said 'Go. We'll cover for you' you gave them a smile that said 'thanks' and left.

"Why did she run off?" E.J asked the group.

"She has something important to do." Carlos said hoping you would come back as soon as possible.

"So what's the big emergency?" You asked Cisco.

"We got a video message." He repiled.

"From who?"

"I think you know."

"Crap. Play the message."

Video message

"Hello Y/N. Now I'm sure you're wondering why I have sent you a video message. Well, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. You and me go for ice cream. Or else something will happen to your best friends and your so called 'cute' boyfriend. Okay choi."

"Girl you good? You look pissed." Cisco asked you in worry.

"Call him. Call him now." You said in a mad voce.

"Okayyyy."

Cisco called Marcus and he said,

"I see you got my message."

"Yeah I did and you know what captain eyebrows....the answer is no." You say to him coldly.

"Well I guess we have to do this the hard way." He smirked.

Honestly it would be so funny if the series endgame was Ericka/Portbowell (EJ x Ricky x Gina) all being in a poly relationship. Then it would be a win for all Caswen, Portwell and Rina shippers. I can totally see Ricky having a crush on both E.J. and Gina so he ends up dating both of them.

Can u imagine Disney+ making a thruple endgame on one of their most popular shows. I’d forgive 25% of all Disney crimes 😭

Portwell are clearly still together by Color War which is episode 6 which is when they sing “It’s on” during the Color War they are sitting so close to each other through out the song it’s obvious they are still dating by that point. Whatever problems Portwell has before the Color War is clearly resolve by then. This is a good sign that we know that Portwell has survive over half of season 3 it’s still possible they could be together all season long. I think Val will likely help Portwell. 1/2

Here is how I picture Val helping Portwell since Val is EJ’s childhood friend from camp this means she knows about some of his past relationships at least with the girls he has dated at camp. This is super important because Val might notice that EJ’s relationship with Gna is different than his past relationship. Val might end up being the one that points it out to EJ that he is truly in love with Gina which could lead to a love confession at some point in Season 3. 2/2

Hi, Anon! Yep, I’m definitely thinking along the same lines as you! Before we discuss though, I just want to put it out there that all the information I have is really just from online sources, like the HSMTMTS Wiki and my own personal theories/interpretations of the clips from the trailers and cast interviews, so we really won’t know anything for sure until the episodes air. So, let’s just have some fun and discuss the possibilities 😊

“Color War” is said to be the 6th episode of the season and where the music video of “It’s On” takes place.

I took it the same way you did Anon, in that Portwell seems fine (they have no sense of personal space gosh) and they’re definitely giving off power couple vibes, like it’s great to see their competitive natures again and, this time, they’re on the same team with the same goal to win, so you know the other team doesn’t stand a chance 😉

Now, the episode that takes place before this, entitled “The Real Campers of Shallow Lake” does seem to tease that potential obstacles could come in their way.

The summary of the episode says, “After promising juicy drama for the Frozen documentary, E.J., Carlos and Val come with a Real Housewives-inspired plan: to turn rehearsals into "The Real Campers of Shallow Lake," complete with fabricated storylines and staged vignettes. But when the fake drama pushes some very real buttons, E.J. realizes that he may have gone too far.”

That last statement makes me wonder if the love triangle will be at the forefront of this.

On one hand, fabricated storylines and staged vignettes, sounds about right up the alley of a love triangle plot and a very thin line that can easily be crossed is made. Just how Portwell went from “fake dating” to “real dating with very real feelings”, EJ feeling jealous and taking the fake scenes to heart could very well happen in this situation.

If this is the way the story will go, I agree with you, Anon, in that Portwell will get through it, given how well they seem to be doing in “Color War”.

I am, once again, manifesting that EJ will be honest and vulnerable to Gina about this ugly emotion that he wishes he didn't feel, but does and explains clearly why. Then, Gina would comfort him by being just as honest and vulnerable about her feelings for him in return [x].

On the other hand though, the last statement makes it seem that EJ is going to offend someone and he will regret it—  not the other way around. This honestly would be so much more interesting for me, ‘cause I’d love to see what else this season has in store, other than the very tiring love triangle.

Anyway, just to summarize where we are so far, I’m assuming that:

“The Real Campers of Shallow Lake” (3x05): Portwell will run into some problems (possibly this is not their first obstacle of the season, but we’ll see!), and will get through it, hopefully through some good and honest communication.

“Color War” (3x06): leads me to further believe that Portwell will be okay after whatever happens in 3x05 and anything prior to that, given how they are acting in the “It’s On” music video.

Now, I’ve already given my thoughts about Val and Portwell in this post, so I really do love your take as well, Anon!

Val might end up being the one that points it out to EJ that he is truly in love with Gina which could lead to a love confession at some point in Season 3.

Oh, I would absolutely love that! You see, 3x07 is called “Camp Prom”, and, given what we’ve talked about so far, I do believe that this episode could have a confession scene!

Additionally, in a snippet of Matt Cornett talking about Portwell in season 3 (seen in this post by @livelovecaliforniadreams), he says, “I think they’re might be a little something that the people are gonna be happy with, in the first episode and maybe later on. We’ll see.”

I think he may be talking about the kiss we saw in the trailer in regards to the first episode, as he knows we didn’t get to see their first kiss in the end of season 2.

However, the “maybe later on” line, might imply even more Portwell goodness later in the season, with a love confession possibly being one of those things to look forward to.

But, again, this is all speculation and we won’t know anything for sure until the episodes air, so let’s just keep having fun discussing over our mutual love of the show and Portwell 😊

how do people ship pw knowing gina is using him to move on from ricky?

Mh, I'm not sure that's exactly what's happening in the show, just something a bit similar. To me, Gina is not deliberately using E.J for anything, that's not who she is; she is merely trying out something new (having her first romantic relationship) with someone who paid attention to her when she was going through some tough times.

The thing is, E.J x Gina is doomed to fail (in my humble opinion) because the foundations for a long-term relationship just aren't there. Gina and E.J started getting closer at a time where Gina was quite literally heartbroken over Ricky. Personal opinions aside on what Ricky should or shouldn't have done in s2, the fact remains that the way things were left unresolved between rina very much hinted at their story being far from over. One episode Gina is crying over Ricky and the next she is all smiles and giggles around E.J. Um... okay? Who is this supposed to be fooling? It looked a whole lot like pretending to be fine to me. If Gina truly was over Ricky, then she wouldn't have ignored him the way she did. I think Gina likes E.J, but she doesn't love him. And I don't think she ever will, because the moment she starts spending time with Ricky again she'll find that her feelings for him are very much not gone and they are stronger than whatever she might feel towards E.J.

Request: “Hi if it’s not too much trouble could you do a fic with EJ Caswell who keeps visiting a coffee shop because he has a crush on the cute barista who happens to be best friends with Gina and she plays matchmaker for the two guys. Sorry if it’s too much.”

E.J. Caswell had a problem and he suspected that most of the High School Musical cast was slowly becoming aware of it. He doubted that they really knew the reason that he showed up to rehearsal with a to-go Dutch Brothers coffee cup in hand, but they were definitely starting to get concerned about his supposed caffeine addiction.

“Why didn’t you bring me anything?” Gina said, dropping into the seat beside E.J. one day before rehearsal started.

He looked up after a moment, finger pausing the path it had been tracing around the brim of the cup’s lid, “Hmm?”

“Your coffee run,” Gina prompted, gesturing to the cup. “I love Dutch Bros and I know you know my order, so why didn’t you bring me one?”

E.J. let out a quiet noise of understanding. “Right. Just, uh, didn’t think to, I guess,” he said softly.

Gina’s dark eyes narrowed and she crossed her arms over her chest as she studied him. “That doesn’t sound like you,” she said firmly. “Want to tell me what’s really going on, E?”

He wanted to argue, but E.J. knew that Gina was relentless when it came to the people that she cared about and that she wasn’t going to drop the subject until he told her the truth. “I can barely get my own order out, let alone anyone else’s.”

The brunette looked intrigued, and she leaned forward in her chair as she listened, “And why is that?”

E.J. hesitated, part of him wanting to keep the cute barista’s beautiful smile and witty humor to himself, but the rest knowing that Gina would never make fun of him for having a crush. “There’s this guy who works there.”

Gina let out an excited squeal, smiling brightly as she looked up at him, “E.J.! That’s amazing! What’s his name? Have you asked him out yet? What does he look like? How long have you liked him?”

The senior balked at the onslaught of questions, and for the briefest of moments he second-guessed his choice. “His name is (M/N). He took my order for the first time about two weeks ago and I ordered a matcha tea and he drew a little wildcat on the cup since I was still in my Chad jersey.”

“That’s so cute!” she exclaimed, “Wait, but don’t you hate matcha?”

E.J. nodded sheepishly, a faint blush warming his cheeks. “He smiled at me and I couldn’t remember what I wanted. Matcha tea was the daily special, so that was the first thing I could think of.”

Gina grinned widely as she looked at her friend. “You really like him, huh?”

“Yeah,” E.J. agreed, “Yeah, I think I really do.”

She nodded, pulling out her phone and tapping out a quick text. Her smile widened as the phone chimed with an almost immediate response. “Perfect. I’ll set you up on a date with him.”

E.J. blinked, visibly confused by the news. “Excuse me?”

“You said his name was (M/N), right?” she asked, continuing when he nodded. “Well, that also happens to be my best friend’s name and he also just so happens to work at Dutch Bros. And I was just thinking, ‘hey, that’s quite a coincidence,’ so I just texted him to see if he remembered drawing a wildcat on a matcha tea.”

She held up her phone so he could see the messages and his heart stopped in his chest as he made out the words Yep! The guy who ordered it was super cute.

E.J. couldn’t help the bright grin that formed on his lips, “Is this real?” he asked disbelievingly.

“Of course it is,” Gina said, grinning wider as she read the newest text, “And, since I’m, y’know, the best, I got you a date with him on Friday.”

E.J. let out a shocked laugh and he leapt out of his chair to wrap her in a crushing hug. “You rock, Gina,” he agreed. He knew that he’d start freaking out about how he’d manage to say anything at all on the date later, but for now he couldn’t help but look forward to finally getting to go out with the cutie from the coffee shop.
