Every summer, it’s always a joy to see the first sunflower bloom in the garden thanks to the birds who planted the seeds themselves. The city birds around here are the best of whimsical gardeners. A seed here. A seed there. 🙂 This sunflower turned up right in the middle of my mini patch of English peas.🌻 And for sure they didn’t stop there! More to come in the pansies, the hollyhocks, the parsley, and there’s even one tucked in beside Grace the Grapefruit tree. Everybody can use a little sunflower now and then. Boxwood has so many uses. Growing them is easy peasy! This is the perfect time to prune them. Also, small boxwood wreaths can be artfully adorned with ribbon, holiday bulbs or bows. Not sure what to do with them after the holidays? Make peanut butter balls rolled in birdseed. Wire or use left over sticks to place the on the wreath.
