One of the things that I am guilty of doing is residing too much in my head. I forget to listen to my heart. I do not always remember that the key is to not spend too much time thinking and just do. When it comes to my art, I can have a clear idea of what I want to do. In practice, it rarely comes out how I want. I can get frustrated with this at times berating my lack of skills to produce what I imagine. The materials themselves can often open up new ideas. I did not know this was going to be a mountain landscape when I began. When doing my glass work, I do not know what the final piece will look like until it is completed and I can lift the glass up for the light to reveal what the piece is going to be. The journey is very much about trusting a creative instinct. The materials have an energy, a calling. Colours, shapes and textures reflect the atmosphere of the moment. The way the light falls on its evolution tells its own story. The outcomes are no doubt a reflection of my own energy. It’s not just about personal expression or technical skills, it is about what I feel inside. Making art is so representative of life. We can spend a lot of time visualising our ideal existence but the truth is that until we step outside our front door, we are not manifesting what we need for our own original uniqueness. Our happiest moments cannot enter into our consciousness until we let go of what we think our life should be and instead allow it to be what it needs to be. It is in the serendipitous surprises where the magic happens: paint reveals the ghosts hidden within the canvas; characters of a book show new plot twists as it is being written; glass glows when light plays and random, unexpected encounters bring insight, inspiration and wisdom. This is a special kind of magic that cannot be engineered from the head alone. By allowing what is meant to be in the moment, we are gifted so much more than we can manifest alone. #giftoflife #serendipity #flow #creativity #creativeflow #headvsheart https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj-c0MaNCUT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

You find what you need, not what you’re looking...
It was one of those usual days when I went to see my Boss, a worldly wise and a well-read man and I find him intently watching this YouTube video, listening to a bearded baba/guru. Out of respect for the man and the designation I did not say much but I was wondering what is my Boss doing listening to a baba/guru. My boss asked me very matter of fact if I had heard of Jaggi Vasudev and I nodded in the negative making my unawareness for the man known to him. I was coaxed to listen to him as he addressed the crowd for some World Economic Forum. The next few minutes I was glued to the screen and the one thing that made an impression was his piercing logic as he spoke. There are many well-read people I have heard/read about but this was different. He presents simply so that everyone can relate to it and then makes it sound so logical that you find yourself nodding to whatever he is saying. He captivated me that was my first brush with Sadhguru.
I walked out googled him and read up about him, heard him, saw him…….all of us who have heard him would agree that it is such a pull that you just can’t dismiss him. One can see, feel and know for sure that he is not preaching he is talking from a space where he really knows. The law of attraction was working because from the time I saw him at my Boss’s pc, I happened to connect with people who knew of him, friends who I have known for years  happened to discuss about having found a Guru who they now followed, I stumped upon books by him, it was as if my time had come. My inner calling landed me in a  space where I was introduced to someone  who was capable of answering my plethora of questions that I always had.
Since young I have been very tolerant of religions and people’s beliefs and faiths on whosoever they choose to believe in. I always knew there was something beyond us, the creator so it is a matter of individual’s belief system which was not for me to get into. So I co-existed with everything around me but inside me I always had many questions from God, to life and death and beyond death and after life and rebirth and what not…..I would wonder why a ‘parikrama’ done clockwise, why we should not sleep with head in the north, why is naming ceremony important, why we coax our kids to write from the right hand, why do we need to have so many rituals for everything, why do we chant mantras and do yagnas…….All of a sudden I found someone who had spoken on all of it and more….I listened to so many of his videos and read the books where he spoke on various topics at length.
I would often meet my friend who was a volunteer with Isha and ask her a plethora of questions about Sadhguru and authenticity of how he knows what he knows and in an answer to that I was gifted a ticket to the ‘Mystic Eye’ programme as a birthday gift. It was the first time I saw him live. The energy was inexplicable and transformational. That day will remain to be etched in my memory. Since then there has been no looking back. My friend also gave me the book More than a Life by Arundhathi Subramaniam. That one gave better insight into his life and could answer many of the questions I had. Slowly I just found myself allowing to explore. The one thing that really got me going was the fact that I liked that in his talks/videos/sessions he would always ask the people to be true to themselves and not just nod the head in the affirmative just because the whole crowd is agreeing to what he says. He vehemently asked people to be honest with whatever it is was true for them and have the courage to say No if something was not true for them. This was the one thing that I really liked (personally). I wanted a Guru like that who I do not have to necessarily agree/obey…if something is not true for me I must be able to voice it out so that he can help me see what I am unable to see as yet.
My next turning point was the Shambhavi Mahamudra programme I attended in April’16, The four day programme conducted by Sadhguru deepened my experience and has since been a part of my daily routine. The day goes on smoothly irrespective of what is happening on the outside. I am a lot calmer, more forgiving of people, living in the moment and making the best of what I can here n now.  I am blessed to have found him and sincerely wish that many like me who might not be cut out to just follow instructions of faith n belief, allow themselves this choice. At the end of the day, it is only true for you if you have experienced it yourself, until such point, it is just what people say and believe in.
May everyone find what they need!

This is a great movie regarding organ donation. ❤️ I decided I wanted to be an organ donor when I was 11. I met a sweet girl, AT, in Job's Daughters. She needed a heart lung transplant. I think she was only a couple of years older than I was. That had a tremendous impact on me!! A kid!! Who was sick enough that she would die if she didn't receive the gift of life from a grieving family. What an amazing life lesson for a child!! I know AT received her new heart & lungs. I don't remember when, but they gave her a few more years with her family. #2Hearts #OrganDonation #SaveALife #GiftOfLife #BiOY Donation #DonateYourBodyToScience https://www.instagram.com/p/Cplq4BRLwu1qwRXHJwlRPWSEFbuQaWBbQSmt2s0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

It was 23 years ago today that my life completely changed. It was the day I was told that I had Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. And although that is technically not a good thing to celebrate, I choose to look at it positively in the way that no matter what I’m going through now, I’m still here and healthy. Getting sick and having my transplant changed me. I’m more outgoing and try to live my life to the fullest and I’ll tell anyone that will listen about what I went through. I’ve been a Bone Marrow Transplant Mentor for other transplant patients for a few years now and I’ve walked in the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the last 19 years to raise money for awareness and help for other Leukemia patients. And I will continue to use my story to help others who are going through what I went through. So technically, it’s an anniversary of something bad that happened in my life, I choose to celebrate the fact that I went through all of that and I'm still here, alive and kicking! 🧡💚 #cmlsurvivor #cml #chronicmyelogenousleukemia #bmtsurvivor #bmt #bonemarrowtransplantrecipient #registry #unrelateddonor #dkms #bethematch #giftoflife #nbmt #thebmcf #rushuniversitymedicalcenter #chicago #leukemiandlymphomasociety #lls #lightthenightwalk #ltn #michellessunrisecrew #23years https://pages.lls.org/ltn/chi/Metrochicago23/MMeents (Link in Bio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpW1YvAscG5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
