So...y’all will build up the whole ‘found family’ trope and talk about how awesome it would be to see in media and can clearly acknowledge that platonic and familial relationships can be just as important as romantic ones but...

Y’all are STILL hating on ace and aro people for not fitting into y’all’s preconceived notions of what ‘real’ relationships look like?? Like?? I’m a little confused 😂

Y’all went on whole hate campaigns against these concepts when ace and aro people were presenting them, years back. But now, since it’s snuck it’s way into popular fandom tropes and people finally have a modicum of critical thinking when it comes to interpersonal relationships in the current society we live in...now all of a sudden everyone is all about ‘found family’ and ‘loving your friends as much as loving your (romantic) partner’.

Y’all gave ace and aro people SO MUCH hell over even the slightest mention of relationships without sexual or romantic elements to them and y’all would constantly accuse them of ‘secretly using people’ just because they weren’t sexually and/or romantically attracted to someone, but still wanted a connection of some kind to another person.

Like...I know how I’m saying this may not come across as nicely as I really would like it to but it just dawned on me how hypocritical all these people who make these popular posts about ‘found family’ and ‘having deep connections with your friends’ when only a few years ago, they would shit on ace and aro people for even daring to talk about those same concepts.

Idk if anyone else noticed this or not, and maybe someone else could explain it better than me, but this is just my own observation on this topic that I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while that’s been itching at me.
