i have a headcanon that toriel has a hand-washing compulsion where she does it wayy more thoroughly than needed, instinctively trying to scrub under her claws even when they're perfectly clean because she can still feel the phantom of dirt under them from the time she dug chara's grave.

#one. two. three. four hundred years. it doesn't matter when you buried your child alone #i think she was your obvious standard ''my son just died'' distraught at first just out of shock. but from the moment asgore declared war? #she swallowed her grief and acted as cold and rationally as she could. organizing her leave. taking the body without being noticed. #finding the ruins. sealing them. and yes burying the body. i think she held it together perfectly during that sequence of events #but when she went to wash her hands after it was done and she couldn't get the dirt out. and she could FEEL it digging into her fingertips #but unable to get the sensation out no matter how furiously she scrubbed & dug under them THAT'S when she truly lost it for the first time #and had a full on mental breakdown over everything that happened in so little time #and that experience kinda sealed itself in her brain. both mentally and sensorially. ergo: compulsion #this goat is so fucking traumatized #answered asks #undertale #toriel

Yukine's journey toward acceptance of the life that was robbed of him, this time with finality, exemplifies the emotional and beautifully rendered arc that has defined his character.

Yukine finally accepting the reality of his death. Yukine stepping out from the fridge that contained memories of what was once his life. Yukine freeing himself from the shackles of his trauma. Yukine running to protect the person who cherished him the most in the world. Yukine standing up to an abusive father. Yukine wholeheartedly apologizing. Yukine's growth, and Yato tearing up as he stretches his little arms to pull him for an embrace.

Yukine's gratitude for what Yato did for him is evident throughout the series. He was given a name more precious than any other. He was treated like a human--an ordinary teenage boy. And life after that was one exciting journey after another. Now, Yukine can no longer be entirely consumed by the horrors of his past because he knows that his reality with Yato is so much brighter. Far brighter.

Yukine could break out from that refrigerator because of the true, sincere, and nurturing love shown by the only father figure in his life. Yato has said multiple times throughout the series that Yukine was his priority above all else, and Yukine was the only person he swore to protect the most. Hell, he even went straight to hug him after Yukine apologized for turning into that form! Yato did not need to summon Yukine. Yukine came to protect Yato on his own decision. As he always did.

The journey to their healing will be painful, and this chapter shows that Yato and Yukine will face it together. No more secrets and no more miscommunications. They will help and be by each other's side as they always have, not only as god and shinki but, this time, as family.

Something I appreciate in the Dishonored fandom is that some other fandoms are filled with too much ship purity culture where you get guff if you enjoy or even just respect a problematic ship™ (which may or may not actually be "problematic" in some way), and it's annoying and makes for a more hostile fandom environment from people on all sides imo, and then you have Dishonored fans who went "yes we will ship the sad wet rat dad with the man who killed his wife" and that is extremely valid of them tbqfh

This show is so good at small little details to reveal what's going on in the characters headspace eventually. The way that he was so obviously in that blank stare and space feeling god knows what fighting a silent battle of what is probably profound suffering if you love deeply, which obviously Rick does, and then instantly bumbled up and made a little quirky joke and then smiled and went back to having that mellow but distant tired look on face, which we've seen him do plenty of times before-it just goes to show that it's all just a performance, and that he probably has been feeling this way the majority of the time.

I know that we already know that Rick is miserable, obviously, for a multitude of reasons, but this just really said in stone the extremely and deeply deeply depressed in pain that he's carrying around with him all the time.

Out of curiosity what instantly ruins a soriel fic for you? I promise this isn't for my own fic 😁

Sans remembering resets. Not even a Soriel specific thing, I catch one whiff of it in any UT fic and it immediately kills any interest I might have had in it. Same with Sans being suicidal (he is not. lmfao)

But let's see, Soriel specific... hm. It's hard to explain what it is that they do wrong specifically. But there's a brand of h/c fics with sans being the comforted where you can tell the author has not taken into account everything that is also wrong with Toriel. She's just there to offer comfort, which I'd argue is something Sans would do more often with how evasive and private he is about his own issues (and how we have literal in canon examples of him comforting her instead, even before they officially met each other)

#not saying that toriel can never comfort him in turn it's just. the way a lot of ppl write it doesn't sit right with me #he's not cryptic enough. too open too outwardly emotional. toriel too motherly #like even when he's allowing himself to be vulnerable around other ppl he should always maintain 1) a leg over the conversation at all time #and 2) a way to weasel back to a safer topic and drop everything if he wants out #anyway toriel wouldn't coddle him as a way to offer comfort. she'd get on his level. she'd relate. she'd joke and then sit with that grief #side by side with her own in silence. fuck now i want to write more soriel again. ughhhhh #answered asks #biscia hater moment
