hiii i just wanted to ask the process on how you set up your tumblr links? like i get how u can put links to your bio and stuff but as you can see, when you click on your links, it leads to your cool blog theme and leads to more navigations and stuff. lmao i’ve been on tumblr for a while but i’ve never had a mutual have those things so i wanted to ask you if that’s okay

hey! that’s absolutely fine to ask about, we’re here to help each other out :)) 

i hope you’re talking about my bookshelf and navigation pages haha (but if i’m wrong do message me and i’d be glad to help) 

at the bottom of the tumblr edtior, you can find the area that says +add a page and if you click that you’ll hopefully see this 

change standard layout to custom layout and you’ll see a box to add html code. i don’t have any experience in html, so i use themes made by @ciralism and @enchantedthemes . from there, you can look around and see what themes you like, and they’ll lead you to sites where they store their code. 

copy and paste that code into the html box on your tumblr editor and it should be customizable to your needs! it takes a little tinkering and some code might not be as clear as others, but you’ll learn :))

Forgot to add this to the last ask, whoops - how do you get the white backgrounds and lack of shadow for your pictures? They’re always perfect! (Sorry if this has been asked before lol)

i’m actually working towards not completely erasing the shadows haha to make my photos look a bit more natural but i’d be happy to share my process!

1. i take my photos on a white posterboard in a nicely lit place. i’m not too sure what time is the best but generally for me it’s when the windows don’t cast criss cross shadows over everything

2. i use snapseed and i first use the selective tool to even out the brightness in the image

3. i turn up the brightness of my photos a bit but not too much in order to keep it clear

4. i use the brush tool on the exposure setting and brush away on the background until i’m happy with the brightness

sorry if this explanation isn’t all too clear, it’s kinda difficult explaining photo editing over text. i’m planning on creating an editing tutorial sometime in the future on my instagram story, so keep your eyes peeled if you’re interested!

how do you edit your photos? you and studyquill and some others have a vertain way of editing your photos that makes everything just pop out and look really nice!

hi, thanks for the ask!

i think studyquill uses photoshop, but i have no knowledge whatsoever on photoshop so i use snapseed. my main advice is good lighting! i live in canada and for a large part of the year good lighting is really hard to find :( it definitely makes editing much easier though bc i don’t have to edit as much (which usually results in my notes blending into the background) 

once i’ve taken the photos, i use the select tool to turn down the saturation of everywhere but my highlights and i turn up the brightness. from there, i make little adjustments. for example, i might use the exposure brush to brighten up the background and the paper a little. 

sorry if this wasn’t all too clear, it’s kind of difficult explaining editing over text. please let me know if you want a video demonstrating how i edit :)
