Hygge

The sound of winter wind

Sifting snow in moonlit drifts

Shifts my mind to a lingering sleep,

Like the coldest days of February

Frozen for all of love’s eternity.

Lost in a landscape of polar dreams,

We turn our heads from the frigid Sun,

Dazzled by ice on fire, a new dawn has sprung.

I will wait until the solar glare fades

And the sky transitions to a sea of gray,

To wrap our warmth in hygge this dark and bitter day.

Sweet like honeycombs, our yearning will light the way,

Forever burning like the dance of these crackling flames;

From our hearth this orange glowing blaze

Mesmerizes us along with rolling steam

From our fragrant cups of lavender tea.

Cozy socks comfort our tangled feet

Underneath this velvet blanket, you and me,

Purple plush against our skin we long to be

Forever wrapped in crimson kisses, we shall linger,

Cloaked in this hygge for the rest of winter.
