An Emotional Rant
Mild spoilers ahead (season 2 & 3)
I'm going to be a bit emotional and a bit dramatic for a second, so bare with me. Also, please feel free to leave comments, as community is something I think I need right now and would love to know I'm not alone in how I feel.🖤
My mind keeps returning to Tech and how much I miss his character. He was such a huge source of comfort for me, and I related to him so deeply. I really don't know what to expect for the rest of this final season. I so desperately want him to be alive and for this series to end on a good note with the entire batch back together (alive, safe, and happy). Yet, knowing Star Wars, I'm quite uncertain of how this will conclude.
I do not exaggerate when I say that I am genuinely hurting so badly over this. It's to the point that I don't think it's healthy. I feel hollow, and I'm striken with grief. Part of me wants to believe that he'll return because it's the only thing that makes sense for his unfinished story. The other part of me is anticipating disappointment via leaving him dead. I've put so many theories out there (see my other posts if you're interested), and I don't know what to believe anymore. On one hand, I think CX-2 is Tech. On the other hand, I believe it's Cody, and yet, I'm also suspicious of a redherring. The waiting is actually destroying me. I don't think I've connected this strongly to a character in a very long time. So I think that's why it's hurting me so much.
Anyway, any nice comments would be uplifting and appreciated as I want to know I'm not alone in how I feel. I just miss my boy 😔

[Image ID: A billboard from an episode of spongebob that normally reads "GARY! Please come home!" The billboard also normally has a picture of Gary, the snail. However, the word 'Gary' has been replaced with the word "Blaseball," and Gary has been replaced with Ballclark. End ID.]

I think the root of my abandonment issues is not the fact that I’ve been mistreated and abandoned and ignored by past partners but rather the fact that I watched the Gary come home episode of SpongeBob and cried so hard I threw up

My analysis on the song "Gary Come Home"
This song might be one of the ones I'm most passionate about. This song, no, this literary masterpiece is one of the most emotional and gut wrenching form of art to ever exist. The song, featured in a childs tv show, urges the audience to grow up, maybe even forget about it, and experience it once more in an entirely new perspective. This song grabs the reader by the collar and drags them into past devastating emotions as they remember the distraught of seeing Spongebob lose Gary when they were younger. But with that, it gives the listener a sense of nostalgia, doubling up your emotional pain. The video itself deserves an award. It expresses an urgency to find Gary and just how much he misses him. You could watch the very same video with no sound or subtitles, and the message will still ring loudly.
The very start shows fliers being posted side by side to one another, all filled with different messages. It shows that Spongebob truly cares about his pet snail, words being far too limited for how much he misses and loves Gary, expressing his sorrow.
It then cuts to a scene of Spongebob staring at Gary's bowl, a reminder of who once lived in his pineapple. The art is far more detailed compared to the traditional artstyle, emphasizing this one scene. I believe it takes into account the sadness Spongebob feels being alone at home, no longer being comforted by Patrick. The single tear and zoom in was a beautiful detail, really pushing the sadness with no wiggle room for misinterpretation.
The next scene is Spongebob and Patrick walking past a hair salon with megaphones. Inside the hair salon, stands Gary and his new owner, being shielded from view just as Spongebob and Patrick walked past. This symbolizes as a taunt towards Spongebobs sadness, invoking annoyance, or even rage, into the viewer seeing Spongebob *so close* to finding Gary. It also encourages you to support Spongebob, urging him to continue his search as you know how close he is to Gary.
The next scene shows Spongebob holding the glue they used to put up posters and walking to find a new spot. Noticing their facial expressions, Patrick walks with a straight posture, smiling, staring forward, feeling mostly unaffected by Gary's leaving. Spongebob on the other hand is slouched, staring at the ground, and moping, which reflects how he is feeling in a physical form. He appears lost in thought, surely concocting theories as to where Gary might have gone. He gazes up to the clouds, taking notice of a particular one in a mostly clear blue sky. While the cloud *could* have looked exactly like Gary, I believe it didn't. I believe that because we are looking through Spongebobs perspective in that one clip, we see what he sees. This shows that everyday things are constant reminders to Spongebob, using something so vague, such as clouds, to imagine a crystal clear picture. He stands there and stares at the cloud, before the wind blows it away and distorts the image Spongebob saw. He starts to cry, to which Patrick reassuringly grabs his arm and urges him to continue his search and planting flies all throughout Bikini Bottom. Spongebob stares at the sky as he walks, back at the spot where the cloud once was, a sense of yearning in his face as he wishes for it to return.
It then cuts to yet another more detailed scene compared to the general simplicity. He is sat on his chair, listening to a record titled "Gary Please Come Home", the very record playing throughout the song. Notice the words "Your meow right now would sound like music to me", a nod to both him missing Gary and a wish that, instead of this song he played, it was Gary's voice. Little snails and music notes play out of the speaker(? sorry spacing word). If you watching carefully, you'll notice his eyes follow one of the snails as it played by, showing him more interested in Gary then the musical notes. A few records are strung about in the room he resides, all with a picture of Gary, some with a slightly different background colour. This could be interpreted as one of two things. He could have bought the very same song in all of it's forms, or, he could have multiple songs dedicated to his grief on losing Gary. I do not believe any of these contain Gary's voice, as with the previous line and indicators it seems like he'd much rather listen to Gary's voice then the song.
Another taunting scene is shown, Gary and his new owner drive by on the road, only for Spongebob and Patrick to fall down from the billboard and miss the chance of seeing them. They lay on the ground a bit as the camera angles to the actual billboard, a picture of Gary with the text "Gary please come home". If you look carefully, you'll notice that Gary and his new owner were unable to see the message as it faced the wrong direction, another taunt. Had Spongebob and patrick put it on the other side, they would've saw it and at least gotten their message across. It leads the viewer to feel a sense of helplessness, as in no matter how hard Spongebob tries, he keeps missing Gary and may never truly find him. The backing vocals were a nice touch as it showed the billboard, throwing extra emphasis on the desire for Gary to come home in this scene.
*Another* bad timing incident is shown. Gary and his new owner ate at a restaurant and walked along the sidewalk, passing a few TVs at a store. Just as they round the corner, Spongebobs voice comes on the TVs, calling for his pet snail yet going unheard.
A fifth unfortunate timing happens. Spongebob places Gary's missing poster on a bus and continues to walk. Just as the bus drives off, we see Gary and his new owner once more. The viewer, surely agitated, at these instances, starts to feel genuine anger on Spongebobs behalf, knowing he was *so close*.
Once more, a more detailed scene is shown of Spongebob alone at home. He sits on top of Gary's newspapers, wearing his bowl as a hat with red puffy eyes, indicating his sadness and a need for comfort in any way he could get. He holds a photo album and looks through at different photos of the two together, a tear drop falling as he reaches a newer looking photo. He lifts the photo album down and exposes his face, full of sadness and despair. Both the song and the video emphasis on his heart "beating like the saddest metrodome". His heart beats are very mechanic and repetitive, a simple and steady beat, no longer racing with excitement or joy. His heart appears rather small as well, showing the sadness taking a toll on his once happy nature.
He then snatches 3 strangers newspapers, replacing them with fliers, seemingly more desperate on his search for Gary.
He writes "Gary come home" with an airplane, which brings the song to a close. This was likely a last ditch effort for Gary to see his messages
This song genuinely makes me cry every time.
