… GARO: Vanishing Line. It was a fun little romp w/ some good characters who didn’t interact half as much as they should have.
Listen, sometimes a family is three adults made up of two Makai Knights and two Makai Alchemists and the orphan girl they were required to adopt for world saving reasons.
Greetings y’all~! After much thought and much inspo from @lunalove25 @toku-fanservice @imaginemaskedheroes and others, I have decided to make a dedicated blog meant to portray all of my writings about Tokusatsu~! Half of this is going to be me...screaming into the void but I’m happy to meet ya’ll!!
Call me Tale (she/they) and you can find me on ao3 at historynut19~!
Requests and Submissions are C L O S E D
Of course, I gotta list out some rules:
Kamen Rider Shows: Ryuki, Kabuto, Den-O, Kiva, Decade, W, OOO, Fourze, Wizard, Gaim, Drive, Ghost, Ex-Aid, Build, Zi-O, Zero-One, Saber, Revice, Geats, Amazons, Black Sun
Other Toku Shows: Garo (The One Who Shines in the Darkness era specifically), Garo: Vanishing Line, Legend Hero, Tomica Hero: Rescue Force and Rescue Fire, Godzilla
Rules:
I won't take NSFW requests for younger characters who are under 18 and will keep them platonic or romantic depending on the situation. For the ToQgers especially, I will only take more platonic requests for them.
Poly relationships are a-okay! Actually I may write about some on my own volition lol.
Most of the time I'll keep the reader as gender-neutral. So if you want them to be a certain gender, lemme know~!
What I say isn't really law, but my own interpretations of the characters. You're more than welcome to interpret them however you wish!
I'm a simp, don't judge me.
If you wanna kiss any of the female characters, one-offs, villains, movie-only peeps, monsters, go for it! Lord knows I am attracted to like....60 different peeps in a single season.
I’ll post the stuff I write both here on tumblr and on ao3!! That being said, you are more than welcome to request in the comments on ao3 or in my tumblr asks which are preferred.
This work is mostly used for Reader x Character stuff so I won't take much ships between characters because I know everyone doesn't ship the same thing and like...you're free to ship whomever~! I'll write em if they strike my fancy on the day lol.
Please be patient!! I’m working two jobs and have other responsibilities. I also tend to burn out easily....so it’ll be here and there.
Please also be hella specific and detailed on what you ask me. I’m dumb as hell so ya gotta lay it out for me whether you want like generic headcanons or romantic ones!
I’ll list out warnings in the front of everything I write, and if something bothers you or if I forget to list something, please tell me! On that note, I don’t mind yandere kinda stuff but like it’s going to be....very.....very sparse and will be labeled accordingly.
You’re more than welcome to interact with me! I’m so fucking lonely out here in the void...please come talk to me :’)))
So, shall I spin you a tale, my dear?

GARO: The Animation (anime recommendation) - Action, Dark Fantasy (Shonen Elements done right)
(light spoilers)
I saw this once a few years ago, didn't leave much impression at the time.
After a re-watch (Autumn 2023); Surprisingly character driven, character development was well paced (so well paced for some, It left room for a lot of remaining exploration for others)
The show technically has more than one mc, and it works because instead of NPC's hijacking the story from the mains, the mc's are given focus, thus time isn't wasted or robbed from the characters that should have priority. And the extras serve to world-build, & some filler I found myself enjoying.
Well executed action. (Not a fan of some of the CGI)
Music production is from Monaca, Keiichi Okabe's studio (NIER Game series).
Story isn't deep, it's simple.
The setting fits the tone well. (Dark fantasy, Medieval)
Sub is better, Dub is satisfactory. Both good.
Likable core cast, Ema is the Goat. Alfonso the Legend, Leon the beast. Germán the OG Playa.
Again, the side characters fit appropriately to give some world building, everyone isn't contrived to have the same level of importance despite being NPC's.
No, when it's the extras time to shine, they shine, then they bow down as they should. And the main characters are the main characters.
The fanservice didn't overstay it's welcome, didn't annoy me:
(Translation: Not a lot of stock jailbait/schoolgirls getting bent over, ya know, for the "kids"*), majorly it's played casual, it's just women that look sexy for the most part.
Not like a *Camera ZOOMS in on cleavage with bounce animation, sparkle filter, with Anime "WOW" sfx** (holds shot for 5 seconds+)
[Look look! Breasts! You like those right?! Give us a 10/10 please!] Shonen schtick.
As for GARO:
It has gags, comedy, but overall it's executed where it works, and when it's go time, it's go time.
I was waiting for Ema's turn for the obligatory lingering, 5-8sec crotch shot while she's talking mid-sentence, followed by goofy sfx.
Just a 2 frame closeup you could miss if you blinked, Fanservice that flows with what's going on organically... Imagine my disappointment.
The situation doesn’t STOP________ To make sure you fully absorb the artistic significance of her crotch in the camera.
There was an occasion where the crew would've been stuck in an illusionary world if it weren't for Ema and her skills, so how she played into the events was unexpectedly not typical.
I didn't expect her to pop off the way she did at times. Heavy Femme Fatale energy. A professional. The only one in the show that can do what she does.
(I prefer her over Gina *Garo: Vanishing Line*)
Her (Spider-Woman) wire swinging scenes is some of the best content in the series.
So this anime is one of those weird series that for the most part treats their characters seriously while having sexy, but not oversexualized characters. (Again: Imagine my disappointment)
The characters read like characters with a stake & purpose, a story; Not caricatures with lines and a weekly scheduled cliche.
The movie, is decent, the plot wasn't the best but it was also well paced, doesn't drag or waste time, served as nice sendoff.
Recommended, I didn't get to see it the first time around, so watching it after the series served the anime to be more of a full package story.
Similar to (Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider Drive & Gaim: Movie Wars Full Throttle) technically being the sequel, true ending to Gaim.
My gripes would be the CGI look of the Knights themselves, that aesthetic is almost exclusive to them, almost. Clunky at first but they actually look surreal with how flexible and masterful they fight.
A lot of the monsters are 2D, but the Knights themselves are almost if not always CGI, this is my headcanon but I see it as an artistic choice to maintain the illusion of them being an interdimensional force. So they stand out the most in a sense.
It grows on you, eventually.
The villain, for me, was not interesting at all. I did like his stake in everything, the man was a menace, he just wasn't interesting (to me).
German's decision to not save Anna, when he had to power to do so? (In one scene it's shown she's alive when he retrieves the baby, so unless she was technically dead & her looking at him was just an aesthetic decision, I don't see why he doesn't try to take her too). Never understood that. Not a lore breaking gripe, obviously she was as good as dead but still, smells off to me.
Grandpa and those goddamn seeds (If you know, you know), the needless outcome of that situation drove me nuts the most.
---------------------------------
Overall, well produced, decent writing, no masterpiece, naturally; Better than I remember. Underrated.
Medieval Kamen Rider-esque but with Wolf Armor, my favorite of the GARO series trilogy.
The other 2 were OK (Vanishing Line could've been so much more if they focused on the better characters instead of Sophie) but the first, "The Animation" had a better execution about it.
I started the Halloween Event thinking that I'd be able to finish, but then of course, my brain got distracted—clothing simulation in Blender using genuine sewing patterns, and oh boy how well that works—so well that I actually want to write a tutorial on it—but that's for another time.
The fact that I was that quickly diverted kind of said it all. Somewhere around between the Lostbelt 6 conclusion and this year's Summer Event, I got burned out. Why? I have no idea, but it's probably a combination of factors:
One: Spare time.
Most of my free time is spent in Blender making shit, and that's what I'd rather be doing.
Two: Repetitiveness.
Since I started playing five years ago, the game has gotten too repetitive—particularly in the amount of farming you have to do to level up your Servants.
Three: Gacha+money.
I had a good run of luck (some of it unwanted) over the course of the last two years. Most of that was due to being able to predict within two or three rolls whether or not I'd get the pickup Servant by rolling in the Friends Points gacha, watching for three- or the occasional four-star (namely Artoria Lily—the pity system was introduced before Habetrot was added) Servant. Unfortunately, that changed with the introduction of the pity system.
What's worse—maybe this has always been a thing—but it seems like it's harder to nab a limited-time four-star than it is to get the five-star pickup on the same banner. Recent example: rolled for Zenobia, got Molay instead (didn't really want her but okay). Also, gacha luck for five-star event CEs has and always will suck.
This past summer revealed just how much of a money-sink the game has become for me. I have limited funds now because I have a house and well, shit breaks in a house and you have to fix it. Plus everything, even food, is too fucking expensive at the moment.
Four: Story.
The Lostbelt saga has dragged on for too long, and I've lost my attention span—not that it was really there to begin with. I think the biggest reason why Part Two has dragged is likely because of the pandemic fucking everything up, and then the sale to Lasengle I'm sure slowed things down even more.
The dragging story is a complaint that I've seen made elsewhere, so I'm not really the only person who has made that particular complaint.
My attention span has always been an issue when it comes to long-running series. A case-in-point: series like Ronin Warriors, Cowboy Bebop, Garo: Vanishing Line, or any of the recent Fate series, hold my attention because they're generally shorter than 60 episodes. On the flip-side of that, I was briefly into Inuyasha but then the story started to drag (and then I started college), that I lost interest. When I finally graduated and then found out that the Final Act was out, I watched those those episodes but never bothered to go back and finish the main series.
Anyway, what it comes down to is if I do keep playing, I'll likely only play when the story chapters come out—maybe/unless the event is specific to a story. I think the problem I have with story-related events is that you have to farm to progress the story and that shouldn't be if the event story is integral to the rest of the series.
I really love when bi women are super vocal about being into manly / dudely guys. I date and fuck straight women too, of course, and I'm not here to say that feminine men are inadequate or overrepresented or anything, but I'm surrounded by bi women more often than not so I usually end up dating and fucking them the most, and the majority of my experiences around women in queer spaces have been people being pretty adverse to body hair and broad shoulders and vulgarity and strength and dominance and assertiveness and foolhardiness and confidence and candidness and other "traditionally masculine" traits / attributes, or at the very least these traits (in men) were seen as stale and boring. I can't really help who I am, so for a while I kinda ruled dating out completely. I figured all my masculinity was gonna do was scare people; I'm not gay or a woman, I kind of cringe at the implication that my masculinity is "soft" or "superior" to that of any other man's, it was 100% that of your average straight male, independent of anyone or anything but the experiences I've had and the people who've touched me. I figured all I was doing was taking up space that other people deserved more and stressing everyone out.
Then I got better friends, and met better girls, and now I know this is entirely untrue. It could be something as small as someone making a silly "if you look like this DM me" joke with pictures of Sword from Garo Vanishing Line or Kiryu from Yakuza or Kamina from Gurren Lagann, or something as big as a girl asking to feel my muscles, and I'd just get warm and fuzzy all over. Those are the type of guys my masculinity is modeled after. I'm pretty macho and bro-y and it's nice to finally have found people who embrace and desire and support this immutable aspect of me.
There are fictional women I would simp for than Idubbz's ugly whore wife:
Hsien-Ko, Felicia, Morrigan, Goromi Majima, Yoruichi Shihōin, Tier Harribel Ada wong, Valentine from skullgirls and Queen from Garo Vanishing line. So Attractive asf even though most of them would fucking kill but idgaf at least they're prettier to look at than the woman who ruin Idubbz's life and career so get fucked
Speaking of robot wars imagine when the future arch starts where technology and magic, science and fantasy blend together in the new red earth / capcom undivided hsien-Ko-Fang wolf gets a upgrade to adapt into the future with versus road garo armor shits gonna be fire like its gonna be a big combination of red earth, darkstalkers, cyberbots, monster hunter, lost planet, 2099 spiderman, Earth-14512 turok, dino crisis, garo versus road, vanishing line and the ryuga verse garo and a whole bunch of shit where darkstalkers and humanity wage war, discrimination and racism ensue all the different kingdoms and regions from the other capcom games, bioterrorism existing and a world that have stories and urban legends of Hsien-Ko-Fang wolf still being remembered claiming she's either a hero or a monster then comes back from the dark to bring balance into the new earth.
I will eventually finish Red Garden and Garo Vanishing Line but for the moment I’m rewatching Trigun and really it still holds up better than I would have thought, late 90s shounen is certainly when the genre peaked
I've noticed that some people have made Garo OCs, but not a lot have actually delved into making their own Makai Armor to go along with it. That resulted in the creation of my own. Enjoy!
Original Makai Armor: Vyer the Sharpshooter Knight
Appearance: Polished Gunmetal with brass highlights. Has a short cloth cape that distinctly resembles a long bandana.
Weapon: Twin Makai Revolvers. When untransformed, they resemble the Vanishing Line variant. When transformed, they are much larger, resembling a fusion of Destiny's Malfeasance and Lumina, with blades on the bottom of the grips. Extra rounds are summoned as needed. Unlike other Makai firearms, the revolvers are crafted out of Soul Metal, as are the bullets - this effectively allows the Knight to redirect the trajectory of his shots mid-flight, on top of allowing the revolvers to be used as melee weapons if the need arises. Add this to the fact that the act of firing results in the generation of Madō flames, and the result is quite the formidable, albeit difficult to use weapon.
At some point in time, the Order made the decision to craft an armor that incorporated more modern weaponry that was already being used by Priests/Alchemists.
This resulted in the birth of the Makai Armor Vyer.
The armor enhances its wearer's marksmanship skills, allowing a Knight to strike targets a long distance away with stellar accuracy, as well as enhancing their reaction speed, agility, and kinetic vision.
Vyer is notorious for being difficult to handle - Knight trainees generally receive training in bladed weapons, with very few outside the Kusugami clan recieving training in archery. As a result, most Makai Knights are ill-equipped to wield ranged weapons kn general, much less an Armor designed to use two firearms.
On top of this, making full use of Vyer's abilities requires a strong mastery over the usage of Soul Metal - the nature of the firing mechanism means it is very easy to accidentally trigger Blazing Armament, causing less-experienced Knights to often find themselves engulfed in Madō flames with no way to stop it, barring unsummoning the Armor.
However, if one is able to overcome these eccentricities and master Vyer, it will grant them an unparalleled edge in combat, allowing them to take on a large number Horrors at the same time while still being highly difficult to land a hit on.
