the cape gannet is a large member of the gannet family (sulidae) found only on six islands off the coast of southern africa. this species plunge-dives for their food; their diet is made up of almost entirely fish, along with other prey found in the water. they are known for their distinctive yellow crown and blue bill. this is a social bird that gathers in large flocks frequently. while they aren’t known to mate for life, cape gannets may stay with the same mate for several breeding seasons. the cape gannet is currently listed as endangered by the iucn.

these COLOURS, you guys!
some gannets hunting for their dinner.
I really enjoy the motion in this carving, the bubbles and the trails in the water.

Seabird Medley
From top clockwise - Tākapu (Australasian Gannet), Tarāpunga (Red-billed Gull), Tara Iti (Fairy Tern), Tūturiwhatu (New Zealand Dotterel), Tōrea pango (Variable Oystercatcher). These are all shorebird species seen on beaches from my part of the country.
Can't remember when I did this, probably Nov 2018. Can't remember what I called it either. I painted them on little craft canvases and then glued them together with popsicle sticks

Just got back into making moodboards, so here's a warm-up/experimental northern gannet (and seabird)-themed moodboard before I make more diverse moodboards that branch out slightly from the theme of this account because they're my favorite seabirds and I really want to see one... it's a shame that I'm not that close to the sea to see them.
Fun Fact! When I'm not age regressing, I enjoy birdwatching! I try my best to record as many birds as I can see because it's fun for me to do so. Birds just make me really happy :)
Moodboard requests are still open! Feel free to reply or ask for free requests in my DMs!
