Lavinia has been showing me some interesting things about the gym challenge and I must say I'm rather intrigued. However, there is one thing that bothers me.

The gym leader from my hometown, is it actually that perpetually-angry curly-haired rascal that I see parading around town or am I mistaken. Especially since I'm pretty sure that angry guy is named Bede as well.

Please tell me that it's a different guy.

You're a Ranger based in Galar, right? How's it been in the region since the Darkest Day? I haven't been since the Hammerlocke clean up.

Also, do you know when the Galar Gym Circuit starts? I know it's only for a certain amount of time, unlike other regions, and I want to take some time off to challenge it.

The Darkest Day was absolute hell. The bridge Leon fought became structurally unstable and was then sectioned off, thus making it impossible for people on foot to get to the next town over. Some buildings destroyed accidentally, it’s been a good moment since that day but people are quickly recovering thanks to Leon and the gym leaders pushing the government to act fast and not take 4 months to fix a bridge and the like

Rangers were always out on duty more than usual, double rangers each shift to watch for sudden Dynamaxing in wild Pokémon above ground

As for the gym challenge,

Application for the Gym Challenge starts April 12th and then they start weeding people out with not so secret test of knowledge and strength. Application closes on May 1

Then the opening ceremony itself is June’s second Saturday and that’s when it all starts. They have a general timeline they want people to keep to

They typically want people to get to the last gym around August 20 since the final circuit starts August 28 and usually lasts a week

if you’re an anxious/camera shy type you can sign a form for private matches (final circuit is unavoidable tho)

Better to be more specific than vague as hell. I’ve seen so many young trainers stress over the gym challenge because they realized too late there’s an invisible schedule

#rolycoly #i'm just now realizing that the galar pokédex is completely out of order compared to the national pokédex for galar pokémon so. um #i don't know why that is like that but i'm gonna keep going based on the natdex and just play regional forms by ear? #technically this still tracks since you go to the galar mines Before you get to the grass gym‚ the area around which contains #galarian meowth and perrseker‚ and i think dropping zigzagoon when i did was fffiiiiine because they show up in the wild area?? #which you have to go through to get to motostoke‚ which you have to go through to get to. the galar mines #right?? 'cause that's where you sign up for the. gym challenge. it's been so long since i played this game

Leon in my au was either sponsored by Rose or Mustard. I haven't figured out who just yet though.

Sonia is a similar case, as I can see Magnolia sponsoring her or Rose like in the manga.

Raihan I feel was sponsored by Hammerlocke gym. I just feel that would make his transition to gym challenger to gym leader easier( also I'm realizing he probably trained as a gym trainer for a while- maybe that's why he seems close with the three gym trainers in his gym? Food for thought)

Piers - like Raihan, was sponsored by his hometown gym, I think.

Nessa - I'm not completely sure tbh. I think her modeling and gym leader career only start happening after the gym challenge, and I don't exactly think Nessa had that much in touch the gym circuit outside of that? Maybe she did get sponsored by her hometown gym, but Eeeeh not sure. I looked up what sponsors that Nessa already has based on her gym uniform and she's sponsored by a company called wailord aquaculture, which is a fishing company! So maybe she was sponsored by that for her gym challenge? ( Shrugs) I dunno. I think it would be cute if she did though. It represents her home town and her parents professions!

I was lied to Pokemon Sword is so much fun

#i say this like i wasnt trashing on it when it was first announced 💀 #BUT LOOK I WAS WRONG THIS GAME IS GOOD! #probably partially because they had time to fix the bugs 💀 #but the gym challenges?? might be my favorite so far i love them all #the grass and the fire ones especially! #like yeah they're not stupidly difficult but they're creative too #and honestly there are some banger galar mons #i will say the routes are kinda week #especially in the first section of the game #the forest area with the glowinb mushrooms and fhe town in it though??? awesome #the story is what I'd expect of a pokemon story tbh #i think the only thing i actively dislike so far is team yell #they're not as funny as team skull and they're kinda boring (although their dialogue can be really funny I'll give em that) #but it's good!! im enjoying it!!! #reawakening my childhood joy or something idk #the wild area is honestly fun too like its a lil shallow but i dont mind it #oh and the characters so far are great #i also bought the dlc and i havent touched any of the crown tundra but the isle of armor is so fun #klara is hilarious actually she might be my fav rival so far 💀 #and kubfu 🥹 i rushed to get him so i could use him for my playthrough and he kicks ass!!!! #so yeah im having fun with it #in case anyone was wondering where the random sword reblogs came from LMAO

(thinking more about galar) yknow i try not to criticize stories on the grounds on it not being what i would like them to be, but it still kind of grinds my gears that the anime didn't cover any of galar's gym infrastructure or its gym challenging system at all

We went back home and visited my older brother today! I also introduced pancake, azalea and pecha to his pokemon! azalea and pecha have been getting along pretty well with willow, his trevenant and pancake’s been exchanging electricity with his luxray, glimmer

Pancake also evolved!! he’s very proud of his new form

how the hell do you live in galar and not know about the ball guy they're literally everywhere

So I literally just learned the truth of the matter from multiple sources including the Ball Guy themself. And to be fair, I feel like a bit of an idiot.

The reason I don't know the Ball Guy is due to my complete disinterest in the Galar league and gym challenge outside of what my assistant Lavinia has shown me, and due to my admittedly reclusive nature I had know idea, despite living in a town with a major gym.

I'd like to apologise to any Galar league fans and the Ball Guy who seems like a very nice fellow.

I think I gottem when I was like 11 after I got lost in Glimwood Tangle for two weeks — though it was only a day for me. I was taken under Miss Opal’s wing immediately after where I got to run the Gym challenge with her sponsorship once I was 13
