Submissions page is still broken for me, but I have a dragonfly to share from a few nights ago. Behold: the world’s angriest blunt!

Or, rather, disoriented guy I rescued from the bug-unfriendly porch light that, understandably, didn’t appreciate being caught and decided to bite the heck out of one of my fingers about it. Ouch! But it was worthwhile to help the little fella out, as it would’ve either damaged its wings hitting the glass or been burnt by the incandescent bulb. Once I got a proper hold on it(see: above picture) I took it to the backyard where there were far fewer lights to get confused by and many safer places to perch. Plus, that’s where all the mosquitoes tend to be. Usually what happens at this point is I let go and the dragonfly takes off immediately. This one must’ve either realized I wasn’t a threat or just needed the insect equivalent of a breather. Whatever the reason, it hung out on my index finger.

I tried to gently nudge it off with my thumb, but instead of cooperating it simply started perching on that instead. Classic dragonfly move. It even waved at me.

Then it gave me a little kiss…

NOT! It was in fact considering committing an act of violence, but ultimately didn’t in the end. Just lightly scraped its mouthparts on me.

By this point I was tired and sweaty and wanted to go back indoors, so I attempted to coax it onto a stick I often see similarly sized dragonflies land on. That was apparently not acceptable to this one, though, and it immediately took off directly into my face before landing on a(much flimsier) plant.

A far cry from the other times I’ve handled this particular species. The first one was in a bad spot at the college I go to, but allowed me to just scoop it up and walk away with it perched on my fingers, before taking off into a gust of wind several minutes later. The others had also been victims of the nefarious porch light, but the longest any lingered was just a few seconds before taking off, and none ever bit me. Just a lesson in not getting complacent with wildlife based on a few good past experiences, I guess!

Goodness, this one was particularly feisty! Agreed that most dragonflies I've handled have been chill about it, but a few have tried to nibble my flesh. So it goes! Still better to help them out, I think. Glad this fella was successfully moved and neither one of you was seriously maimed :P

OK... How do you think about everything happened in the RTDL novel?

I know this is a role-playing account... but I want more opinions from a non-MagoLor shipper.

((This ask would be better suited for my main blog, @galacticnova3, but… eh. I have an ooc tag here. To summarize my general opinion of the novel? I honestly hate it. It’s main conflict literally contradicts itself(if Lor knew Magolor wasn’t pure of heart from the beginning and was in control of herself the entire time, why help him at all in the first place?), retcons Magolor into being 100% evil for no reason, retcons almost all information about Landia, and was generally just extremely unpleasant to read a translation of as a Lor kinnie. Worst thing in my opinion is that people are touting it as canon/“word of god” despite it literally skipping entire parts of RtD, entirely changing others, and of course what I already said about the main conflict making no sense.

The only good thing to come from the novel, for me personally, was reason to change a headcanon of mine to be more consistent with other headcanons. Everything else I want to put through one of those industrial grade shredders, douse in gasoline, set on fire, and eventually dance on the ashes. All that being said, if you ship Lor and Magolor, I don’t want you interacting with any of my blogs for my own comfort. I have always seen the two as having a familial relationship, not to mention this entire blog coming about because I am a Lor kinnie. Also, she is canonically much, much older than Magolor, so putting them together like that disgusts me in any context. I don’t care if you don’t talk about it or tag it; that content is genuinely upsetting and the idea of being anywhere near someone who ships it makes me uncomfortable at best. This isn’t something up for debate or discussion, this is a hard boundary and I will enforce it with a hard block if need be. Don’t bring it up to me again.))

Hey hi hello this is a Flight Rising sideblog! I’m GalacticNova3 on FR as well as my main blog here on Tumblr. I mostly post fandragons or dragons I’m proud of here, but I may also occasionally post morphologies, and maybe even relevant fanart should I make any.

I’m a big fan of mimic and mith familiars, and the former is part of my clan’s sparse lore, while the latter will be integrated eventually. I just really like animate inanimate objects and moths…

My favorite primary genes are metallic, wasp, and iridescent. My favorite secondaries are alloy, constellation, and butterfly. Fave terts are circuit, glimmer, and capsule. This is just as much of a pain and strain on my in-game wallet as you might imagine.

My favorite breeds are skydancers, imperials, and aberrations, if my lair doesn’t make that obvious.

I have a hibernal den tab for pretty/g1 dragons I’d like to rehome, so check it out if you’re interested in adopting!

Having problems with the submit page, but I just remembered a very important little guy I found a while back. Any chance you could ID this spider that looks like the world’s smallest frosted oatmeal cookie?

Found in the Texas DFW area. I haven’t seen another one like it before or since. When I first spotted it I thought it was moldy because of the uneven distribution of the white, but then it took off to hide like a healthy little spood, which I doubt would happen if it were hosting so much fungi relative to its body size. In my heart it will always be the frosted oatmeal cookie spider

It does actually look like something that's gotten all over the spider, though I don't know what. Fungus seems unlikely if it was still fully functional. Normally by the time that amount of fungus was showing on the outside, it would be dead. Maybe something like plaster..? Somehow? Or someone sprayed it with something to try to kill it? Idk. I can't see enough of the markings to tell you what species it is, either. General shape looks like a wolf, though the white stuff makes it hard to see if it has the typical wolf eyes or that's just an illusion from the pattern of whatever's all over it. I hope this friend makes it despite its difficulties!

I'm willing to know your headcanons about Lor and Magolor's relationship, from pre-rtdl to now.

((I'd prefer to answer this on my main, @galacticnova3, but I'll give a short summary here. They didn't know each other personally until after RtD, as Lor was not conscious until after the events in Another Dimension/a bit after being defeated. Initially things were awkward between them, but after a while they settled into a mother-son dynamic which they still have now.

LIKEWISE, FINALLY. i can imagine why some people (mostly longtime fans) loved it, but i’ve only seen a handful of m/arv/e//l movies (most of which i have actually enjoyed), i don’t care about these characters- which even if i haven’t watched all of their respective films is still this movie’s problem to some extent-, and the most emotion it roused from me was 😬
