Part 1, Part 2

A band AU I’m writing! Sorry if it’s bad! There is no magic in this universe, just music! @puffin-smoke did an amazing Redacted Band AU that you should check out too!

Niente; To nothing; indicating a diminuendo which fades completely away…

It was a cool fall evening in the shaw household, the lights of the house emitting a warm feeling from the outside. It had been half a year since Gabriel Shaw took Tank in. Their parents had dropped them off to study with David and just never came to pick them up. Tank remembers so vividly how the phone rang, and rang, and rang but no one picked up. Gabe refused to let them leave on their own so he took them in, they were just a few months away from turning 18.

Tank had not intended to join the “family” band either. It was more of something that happened to them. One day while paroling the house they saw that one of David's old electric guitars was left out in the living room. The black guitar with red paint splattered on it, giving the impression of blood, was so appealing to Tank they simply couldn't resist. They had practiced acoustic guitar, but had little experience on electric. They only remembered what little their father taught them when he attempted to play, the instrument never sounding right in his hands.

They picked it up, it was already plugged into the amp, and looked around the room. Pausing for a moment, waiting to hear if anyone had come into the house, they were pleased to find that they were still home alone. David and Gabe left for a meeting for their band. David was the drummer, Asher was the singer, and Milo played bass. Their old electric guitarist, Asher's sister, left for a different band. The first few notes they strummed on the guitar sent electricity through their veins. They strummed again, becoming obsessed with the sound. It fully represented them, their thoughts, feelings, their whole being. They began strumming out the chords to an AC/DC song their dad tried playing, thunderstruck. It was the a simple standard they knew how to play on electric.

The music soared from the guitar and filled the room. Tank started playing with the strings and improving their own melodies. They were so wrapped up in the song that they didn't hear Gabe and David enter the house. They didn't see the pair walk into the living room. The sound enveloping the house was completely theirs, like they owned the instrument. No one could replicate the way they played. Even if they weren't perfect at it they were still so alluring.

As Tank strummed the last chord on the guitar, Gabe stepped forward and applauded. Their head snapped up, fiery eyes meeting his warm ones. A slight blush spread across their face and they quickly stepped away and set the guitar on the soft green couch next to them.

“I… I… sorry…” They mumbled out. “I wont touch it again…”

“No! Don’t say sorry. In fact, you were quite good. Ever played before now kid?” Gabe asked moving over to pick up David's old guitar.

“No… not really. I mean I've been playing acoustic guitar a little, or I used to with my da… with you know.” They kicked their feet on the hardwood floor..

“Well my band is looking for a guitarist. I'm sure Dad would be willing to teach you. He taught Asher's sister.” David said, nudging Tanker with his shoulder.

“Me?” Tank asked.

“Absolutely! I will! You’re in the band Tank!” Gabe cheers as he wraps an arm around Tank. “I’ll start teaching you tomorrow.”

That is how they ended up where they were now. On a large stage opening for a band that Tank has been a fan of for a while now. They were called Tooth&Fang. Tank was practically in love with Quinn, the lead singer. He was attractive and very, very charismatic.

As their set came to a close as David rattled the symbol one final time. The whole band waved as Asher yelled out one final time.

“Thank you everyone! We are DxW! You have a good night!” He and the band ran off stage, high fiving one another. Tank stood on the outside avoiding the three’s cheers.

“Hello~” A sly voice spoke into Tank's ear. Tanks eyes widened, immediately recognizing the voice. They pivoted to see the mischievous grin on the face of Quinn Fox, the lead singer they're practically in love with. “Well aren't you, a spitfire. You played that electric like a star, precious.”

Tank was on cloud nine. Quinn even offered to meet them in his dressing room after the show.

“No.” David said, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall in the alley way. The band was packing their equipment up in their van.

“What? Why not? He literally just wants to meet up!” Tank pleaded, waving their arms about.

“No. No super famous 28 year old rockstar wants to meet with a 19 year old, just to chat and hang out. I've heard about his reputation…”

“But you haven't seen his reputation have you. You haven't experienced it first hand. You have no idea whether or not it's true!” They pointed their finger into David's chest, knowing it would irritate him.

“Tank. No. And get your finger off my chest dumbass.” David's eyes lit up with anger.

“I'm going. I am 19 fucking years old. I am old enough to choose what I am gonna do with and where I am going to spend my time.” They pivoted on their heels and began walking back inside.

“Tank stop!” David yelled at them before crossing his arms and standing firm. “I’ll tell Dad.”

Those three words stopped Tanker in their tracks. Was he serious? He was going to rat on them and play tattle tail. Furrowing their brows and balling their hands into fists they walked back over to David. “I hate you.”

The next two days the only time Tank spoke to David was if he directed them to do something in the band. They were pissed off at him. How the hell was he able to control what they did? And the fact that he threatened them with telling Gabe. They continued to ignore him and mope around until their phone buzzed. They looked at their instagram feed and saw a message from Quinn_The_Vamp.

Since I can't, y'know, shut my mouth, I decided it's better to make a whole ass post about this so thank you @juniperjello for asking.

Here are my Top 13 Destiel Traxx AKA Fic Recs:

And This, Your Living Kiss (M) is a GODSEND I've read this more times than I can count, I even have NerdyNerdenstein's podfic of it saved on my phone, it is that good. It stars poet! Dean relearning his love for the arts and Literature professor! Castiel, whose favorite author just so happens to be Jack Allen (AKA Dean). I also love love loved the family dynamics here, it's all so homey and cozy. The poetry in this is stunning too. Highly recommend this one!

A Thousand Lies (E) follows con artist! Dean on his latest assignment of unraveling rich businessman! Crowley's secrets by playing as his secretary, all the while juggling dates with accountant! Castiel. Except there's more to them than meets the eye, and the plot gets thicker and thicker until you find yourself stuck to your phone for more than 4 hours, hopping from one chapter to the next. Yes that's exactly what happened to me lmao I was hooked, and stories like these where the angel fam are humans are always so fun. I love spotting the parallels and whatnot.

(goldenraeofsun, author of the previous fic, has a ton of fics I highly recommend so if you vibe with their style, go check out their account! I was torn about what to put here between "The Original Apple Pie Latte", "Not the Fire, but the Spark" and this—also I'm pretty sure I have half of their works bookmarked by now 😭)

Forget-Me-Not Blues (E) has all the correct vibes of a classic early 2000s romcom. It's set in Sam and Jessica's wedding, with Dean as the former's best man and Castiel as the latter's. Oh, and did I mention they have history? A particularly roughly-broken high school love story? That they absolutely refuse to acknowledge so now the wedding prep is so full of tension it's choking everybody? Yeah... This is a good one.

An Exercise In 'Worthless' (M) is one of the first destiel fics I've ever read. At that point, I was only on S2 or S3 and had no idea what was happening or who most of the other cast was, but the vibes were immaculate and reading it again as I progressed through the show, it just kept getting better. It's got tattoo artist! Dean whose shop is set up beside Gabriel's cafe (it's called the Physical Graffitea heh). It's got grad student! Castiel attending the same uni as Sam for a niche course in dialects. It's got Dean thinking Cas is more interested than Sam (missing the heart eyes Sam and Gabe are giving each other). It's got family feels!!!!!! as these four idiots live normal, non-supernatural lives!!!!!!!

Kissing Strangers (T/E) is a happy(!!!!!) queer awakening story, wherein Castiel realizes he's not as straight as he thought when he gets kissed by Dean for a social experiment. There's actually three fics in the series, the first one covers The Kiss while the next two are insights on the progress of destiel's relationship. It's really neat, and the author—sharkfish—has a lot of fics I've been reading this past week. (They have a lot of good ace! dean and/or ace! cas fics!!!!!!!!!!)

In Due Time (Dean Winchester is Saved) (T) is not only touching as hell but also mind-blowing. 26-year-old Dean is zapped to the future by an unknown power, and what does he see? Himself, happily settled; married to an angel of the frickin' lord with a son; and his brother, still hunting. THIS FIC IS AN ABSOLUTE GEM!!!! Baby Dean interacting with Cas means So Much to me.

Broadway Musical (T) is, in my humble opinion, an absolute banger and a classic. It's got the fun, lighthearted tone of a romcom and my favorite trope of "they may all be dicks but at least there's no murder" with the angel family. It's a reimagining of the first ever Armageddon: what if, instead of being the Righteous Man himself, Dean was chosen to father the two brothers of old with Jo Harvelle, with the entire Host of angels excitedly chattering about it in heaven. Except the cupid's arrow doesn't sink in, to either Dean or Jo, and they don't fall in love. So good ol' Cas comes down to take matters into his own (awkward) hands.

Sand and Salt (E) continues off of S9 fallen angel! Castiel. The timeline is important to me for two reasons, namely: Kevin and Charlie. Destiel are highlighted at the second half but the first is just Sam, Dean, Kevin, and Charlie helping Cas settle in as a human. They go to a mall to shop and eat and bond and they are so, so precious to me.

Carnival Oasis (E) is a series as well, but it's honestly SO worth it. We have creature! Castiel who eats sin and extremely guilty! Dean who first confessed his sins to Cas as a way to gauge what the fuck he is. But then he kept coming back. They get all gooey and shit here, as they should be. Plus the reveal on Cas' background??? It made me go insane I swear.

Convenient Husbands (E) is honestly just. So good. I've reread it multiple times over the past few weeks and it never gets tiring. This one's about hunter! Dean and Garuda! Castiel forming a marriage bond... Purely for convenience, of course. I'm also obsessed with the set-up of the hunting community in this AU, they got a whole network and base and it's awesome you should definitely read it. (Annie D also has a lot of fics on AO3 that you should check out—I'm very partial to "It's Always the End of the World Somewhere"!!)

This Witch!Cas AU series is based off of probably my most favorite story prompts to ever trend in Tumblr history: it's about witch! Cas who's moved to town after his grandmother's passing. Madame Novak's will is all that everyone's talking about, as it states that Castiel needs to marry to not only inherit the estate but also to keep his magick. Gardener and shopkeeper! Dean finds this tasteless, what with everyone treating Cas like he's just some prize and not, y'know, a person. Then, Castiel makes an announcement: he ties the key to the estate to his cat's collar, and whoever gets the key may take his hand as well. Everyone scrambles to chase after the surprisingly smart feline... except for Dean, who's slowly warming up to the little guy, and the cat to him in return.

it's brighter now (G/T) is actually a series but!!! It's a babyjackverse like come on, how can you resist that? This speaks for itself and it says all you will ever need in a fic, which is BABY JACK!!!!!!!!!!

conversations between brother & sister (T) is, simply put, criminally short but perfectly encapsulated my ideal ending for Supernatural. It's two fics; the first is about Jack and Emma, and the second is about Jack and Claire. The reason this is here is because I am a firm believer that this deserves more recognition and love and we need more AUs like this. Destiel are so, so tender and sweet but the main focus is, of course, Jack's conflicting feelings. I would leave a hundred thousand kudos on this if I could.

Oooooh, we heard of the og kwamis liking certain Twst cast members. What about the reverse kwamis? Would which would be their new favorite holders(well out of reverse twst cast members if they could) had they managed to break free from the Supreme?

Mmm... I guess I did say I ended that episode with explaining... Mostly I'll leave it to y'all to play around with details.

Starting off with waizz, they would like Leona actually. Mostly for that sense of protection and safety the latter has.

Dussu and Trix's favourites I initially wanted to be the ones that are holders of them in my ml hard au (maleidiazu version), but then I realised it would be spoiler for a big reveal in there so I decided against so.

Trix likes Epel actually. A bit devious, but who's gonna think this cutie could be a menace? :'3c

Dussu enjoys Deuce's company actually. He's a bit reserved, but he's very nice. :3

Pollen sticks with Malleus this time. That regal attitude he has it's fit for a 'queen'. (Maleficia is right there... -3-)

Noroo still is at reverse Gabe, bc reverse Gabe is an actual role model and responsibile kind adult.

Xuppu likes Riddle, mostly cuz he grew to be more of a joke enjoyer. Reverse Riddle always had some jokes to make everyone crack a smile at least. Ya know... A playful guy.

Kalki would enjoy Jamil. Jamil loves to travel and who else can house a majestic horse kwami than a guy who works for an influential and rich af heir.

Daisy ends up with Ortho. They are a very cute pair. :3

Ziggy likes Trey... And Trey is pretty creative with his pastries so ya know he would use the goat and create pretty good tools.

Roarr likes Rook! Rook is wild and untamed and Roarr likes it.

Long ends up actually with Idia. Idia was a pretty calm and rational guy. He has a hard time with a sword, but meh. Ya know... No one got cut in 2. :'3 (it's a reference to another MLB x twst au I have so :'3)

Fluff loves Silver for a reason different than just Disney princess vibes. I swear it's not just Disney Princess vibes.

Stomp ends up with Jack. :3

Mullo enjoys Azul the most. Just smol tiny lil mouse Azuls helping out people. :D

Sass chooses Sebek, for the sole motive that Sebek is very calculated and has a very precise approach to things.

Orikko ends up with Vil. Vil is now a bit more op :D

And Bark goes to our one and only Ace Trappola. One hell of a combo, but a pretty neat one :v

Let’s talk about Gabe’s night on the Isle in D2 because god do I have thoughts

Ace finds out that Gabe is back (all of his and Queenie’s crew are immediately running to report that to him) and he wants to go get his boy immediately but he needs time to prepare. Finally he goes to get him and by then all of the crew are in the hideout, he climbs up the scaffolding and walks in, sees Gabe first, “welcome home, pretty boy, they treating you okay over in auradon?”, Evie is so smug, then he turns to Mal “hey Mal, good to see you looking like yourself again, heard Uma stole the little boy king, but I’m going to be taking my boy back now”

Gabe, being Gabe, immediately tries to argue because Ace isn’t the boss of him, but Ace gives him a Look™ and Gabe just immediately stops arguing and goes to stand beside him, fighting the urge to immediately drop to his knees. Ace finishes his report from Queenie about what they know about the pirates' plan and that they can't get involved in the fight and then takes Gabe back to Crim.

He gets Gabe to his room and tells him to strip, Gabe argues, Ace asks if he really wants to test his patience this early “after you’ve spent the last several months screwing around with baby Beast” and Gabe quietly shakes his head, strips, and kneels down on a pillow beside Ace’s favourite arm chair (it’s Gabe’s pillow, Ace always leaves it there for Gabe to kneel on when Ace isn’t actively using him)

Ace is half talking to himself, half talking to Gabe. He’s pacing in a wide circle around Gabe wondering out loud if he should start off with Gabe’s punishment for fucking someone else or with his welcome home gift, if he should see if Harry would loan him the little boy king so that he can show off what a desperate whore Gabe is for his cock, hell should he make it a show for the entire Isle, one night only until Gabe fucks off back to Auradon

Part of the talking is to get Gabe extremely turned on and deeply humiliated (his favourite combination for Gabe), part of it is to watch how Gabe is reacting to different things that he says.

Finally he says that Gabe can have his present first, starting with getting to suck Ace’s dick. Ace sits on his chair and lets Gabe get comfortable and settled before wrapping a tight hand in Gabe’s hair and face fucking him. He’s repeatedly choking Gabe with his dick, only pulling him back when Gabe completely can’t breathe and then immediately pushing him back down. He keeps this up until he’s about to come, pulls Gabe back just enough to come all over his face and into his still-open mouth, and then makes Gabe swallow and thank him. The next part of his present is to blindfold Gabe and then push him down on his elbows, ass up, and to play with his hole. Spends a lot of time stretching it open as deep as he can, never giving Gabe enough to get close to coming but torturing him with the intense sensations

He’s still talking but nothing really significant, tells Gabe that he got a new accessory for him, and walks away, comes back a moment later and slides a heavy plug into Gabe. It’s not so big that it’s painful, but it’s uncomfortable and impossible to ignore, and what Gabe doesn’t know is that Ace carved it himself out of wood, and on the base he carved “personal property of Ace Hearts”

(It’s around the same size as Ace, 8 inches and thick, but it’s made of solid, heavy wood and with Gabe’s ass up, it’s still trying to sink deeper)

Keeps calling Gabe pretty boy, tells him how good he’s being, pulls his hair hard to move his head and create the illusion that Gabe is looking up at him, definitely lets him relax for a little bit before Gabe hears the very very familiar sound of Ace pulling out a knife

It starts off easy, just Ace tracing meaningless shapes across his back, never hard enough to leave a mark for more than a few seconds at a time, but slowly he starts to push down more, not drawing blood but leaving distinct marks. I just finished Aces Wild by Amanda Dewitt. I have thoughts...

Here there be spoilers!

Ever thought a heist movie would be better without pesky, horny subplots? You’re absolutely right. Allow me to introduce you to Amanda Dewitt’s Aces Wild.

Aces features an ensemble of asexual internet friends--loosely dubbing themselves a support group--who have never met in real life. That is, until Jack Shannon invites them to join him in Las Vegas where the Shannon family’s criminal empire is falling to pieces. The greatest love in Jack’s life is his family legacy: The Golden Age casino. With a rival owner betraying Jack’s mother to the police, Jack faces the loss of both his family and his future. Determined to save his world, Jack recruits his aces to join him in a heist that will take them to the inner workings of the rival casino owner’s empire in the hopes of finding evidence that will turn the tables and put the Shannons back on top.

It’s wildly, hilariously improbable. And let’s be clear: Jack’s willingness to flout the law and endanger his friends casts him as an absolute antihero. But that’s always half the fun. The other half is watching the disaster that is the aces encountering each other IRL.

Internet friendships can be a lifesaving grace for queer people today. Jack recalls the process of discovering his own identity online: “It’s very easy to lie about who you are on the internet. But sometimes the people on the other side of the screen are who you need to figure out who you are in the first place.” Discovering the word ‘asexual’ on a forum, Jack realizes that there are people out there that understand what it is to feel “like a puzzle, mostly put together but with a piece missing, waiting to be filled..the word ‘asexual’ took the puzzle piece and turned it, letting it click into place where before it’d been better to just leave the space empty. I wasn’t broken. I wasn’t empty. I wasn’t nothing at all. Just a little differently shaped.”

The thing about asexuality that we learn through Jack and his crew is that it very much is its own spectrum. How we do or do not experience sexual attraction impacts how we relate to our own gender and other people’s. The complexity of relationships between gender and sexuality under the ace umbrella are seen here in variety: Gabe is aroace, and may not be cis. Remy is non-binary and ace. And we learn that just because someone’s sexuality is ‘nope’ doesn’t mean that coming out is any easier. “It took me a long time to figure out who I was. And way longer to be ok with it,” says Gabe who as an aroace feels “functionally invisible in a world where everything seemed built around settling down with a romantic partner.” It can be isolating, and that hurt, that frustration in being misunderstood can be misdirected into gatekeeping. Gabe runs afoul of fellow ace Lucky, accusing her of being too young to ‘know for sure’ that she is ace. Accusations like that can make baby queers want to play close to the vest. Why share if someday you may have to discard an identity that no longer suits? But as Jack himself helpfully reminds us: “Sexuality can be fluid, or at the very least a journey, not to mention personal. If someone said they were ace or gay or whatever, you believed them. Assuming that you were straight until you ‘knew for sure’ only implied that it was better to be straight until you had no other choice.”

As Jack builds a group of people who understand the challenges of navigating the world as ace, he builds his community. But operating only through screens allowed them all to build relationships on foundations of carefully curated information. Getting to know his friends without the barriers between each other leaves poor Jack feeling raw, vulnerable, and exposed. And it also forces him to confront some of the nuances of his particular experience of asexuality: “it was complicated in ways that I was just figuring out. Just because you didn’t experience sexual attraction didn’t mean you didn’t experience romantic feelings.” And, as it turns out, as close as Jack likes to hold his cards...it turns out he has no emotional pokerface. Gabe is quick to pick up--and call out--Jack’s “big, squishy crush” on Remy. (Jack’s absolute conviction that he is cool, aloof and unreadable when he is in fact an obvious disaster is an ongoing theme, bless him.)

What I appreciated most about Jack’s emotional arc and growth as a character was that he both learns how to be more honest with people without feeling the pressure of having to show his entire hand. His friendships with his fellow wild aces Gabe, Remy, Lucky, and Georgia all grow closer. He even learns how to let his sisters into his life. With one caveat: Jack never comes out.

While of course the fellow aces know and see each other, Jack ultimately makes the decision that now is not the time to be open about his identity with anyone else. When asked by Kerry how the gang knows each other, Jack concludes “it wasn’t my place to out them, even if I was reasonably sure Kerry wouldn’t care. For that matter, I wasn’t really interested in outing myself either. I had enough on my plate without having to break out the ‘asexuality spectrum and what it means’ presentation in the middle of the PizzaDome.”

Queer people can and do have honest and fulfilling relationships with people that don’t involve disclosing our identities. It’s not a lie. It’s not hiding. It’s just deciding that not everyone gets to see every card you hold. How you play the hand you’re dealt is up to you--as long as you promise not to fold.

Here’s the first story on my role play

Della and her brother Daffy used to live in Orlando, but ever since their parents divorced they have to live in Brooklyn. It’s been 8 months ever since their parents divorced and they are relieved that they are divorced. Their father was an abusive, drunk man.

Della and Daffy get up and get ready for school at Darrow High School. There mother left for work early so they had to walk home from school.

Della: So what, we never have breakfast. Plus if I don’t get to school on time if I don’t get there, my friends are gonna kill me.

Roman has always been a bit of a pushover.

Ever since he was young - some sort of broken survival instinct, he'd assumed - "fine by me," he'd say.

It was very rarely fine by him.

At first it was family things; "yeah, that's fine," he'd say, being dragged along to something where he'd feel visciously uncomfortable. He'd find himself picking at a sense of insecurity that would tend to unravel all around him halfway through some dinner or party, where everyone seemed fine, but him.

He hated social gatherings as a kid. He hated family in general. They were too nosy, wanting to know what he wanted to be when he grows up, then what he was studying, until inevitably "how come you haven't had a girlfriend yet?"

'Well, aunt Jemima, not that it's any of your business, but I'm currently discovering I am a flaming homosexual.'

As if he'd ever needed more reasons to feel like an outcast in his family.

All the questions were full of the real thinly-veiled curiousity. That is, the curiosity that was him. The boy that was left on a doorstep as an infant, sick and blue with the cold. The boy that dropped out of the sky.

That was all he ever was to them. Nothing he did after that - of which he'd had no control over - had ever mattered to any of them. They just wanted to see the family member that appeared out of nowhere, abandoned in the cold.

"Fine by me," he uttered, through a toothy smile that his father, wearily, knew was entirely fake. For the sake of him, really, he endured the bullshit their family put him through.

Thankfully, towards being seventeen, his father stopped asking. Roman never asked why, he assumed because most of the other teenagers stopped going too.

But as an adult, it stayed. "Fine by me," he said, to everything his friends asked of him. Help them move. Support them through a break up. Be their emotional support 24/7. Get abandoned in a club by them at 3am. He never learned how to say no. Some part of him was as scared of saying it as he was of hearing it.

When he was twenty years old and in the first forays of a real, passionate, furious romance, he still hadn't learned the word no.

It's always a dangerous game to play, stepping into a relationship with no boundaries.

He said it was fine, when he knew his boyfriend was lying. It was fine when he told him he did things that he knew he didn't. It was okay when he started to question every action that he did, when he felt he was walking on eggshells.

The bruises were fine. The scars were nothing to worry about.

Because that was Roman, it was just always fine by him.
