He's really into pirates, knows a lot of facts about them and thinks they're sick. He would love to have a date night where he and his partner watch all the pirates of the Caribbean films and he gets to pause the film to point out historical inaccuracies every few seconds.

He's a gobby shite, so he's always getting himself into trouble, but he's a bit of a pussy so it's always down to his friends or his partner to back him when he gets in shit.

So here’s a project I’ve not advertised at all. No Requests: Live! From the Tavern is an Adult focused Edutainment series focused on discussing Art, Music, and Media. Each episode is broken up into segments that work together in a playlist including various other videos on Youtube. This means Music Videos, short films, and other video essays, curated together with extra commentary from the host of the show, Tavern Barz.

That’s a weird and unnecessarily complicated format, why are you doing this?

It’s really easy in this day and age to use Youtube videos as a replacement for other content. I mean, why watch a two hour movie when you can watch a 20 minute recap? 

This is a bad habit. Critique is important aspect to a good media diet, but a diet consisting solely of critique misses the point completely. In order to talk about media, we must also experience it. 

This format means we don’t directly compete with the art featured. Rather, Tavern Barz acts as a museum curator, and the other media in the playlists serve as the actual art itself. The original videos will get their view, and… as a nice little bonus, I get to avoid the copyright bots.

Why are you using a cartoon?

I mean, I’m an animator. I don’t know what else to tell you. Why does the Chocolate guy use chocolate when clay will last longer?

But also, I don’t really have any desire to host the show as myself. There’s a hundred and ten other Youtubers who will get on camera to talk about stuff, and like, I don’t have the room for that. 

Besides, Tavern is a character distinct from me. As a writer, I have full control over the narrative I want to tell, and placing myself in the center of that just feels weird. Tavern’s allowed to act and be weird and hypocritical. Tavern is allowed to grow as a character in ways you can’t really depict through the lens of literal documentary filmmaking. 

So that Cyclops character isn’t just your rantsona vtuber avatar?

I mean, in a very literal sense, Tavern is a Vtuber. They are a virtual character serving as the host for a real show on Youtube.

But Tavern’s also an OC with lore and a planned Story Arc. The pilot is admittedly pretty bare bones with all this, but I intent to incorporate more story elements as the series goes on.

Alright, so what’s the lore then?

Tavern Barz is the Cycloptic owner of the Tavern Barz Tavern, a fifth dimensional divebar thar exists all across Time and Space. After several eternities of service, Tavern thinks they know it all.

This is not true.

Is this project family friendly?

Not really. The main character is a bartender, so there's a lot of alcohol focus. Plus, a lot of the featured videos will also contain plenty of adult themes.

The pilot is pretty mild. There's some swearing, but nothing too serious. But the non original videos might have adult themes. I have some later episodes planned, including one focused on The Male Gaze, and in those cases, I can't in good conscience recommend these videos to minors.

All in all, I like to call the tone of the project comfortably adult. I'm not going out of my way to be edgy, but I'm also not censoring myself. If this were an actual TV series, it's probably be TV-14. Edgier than the Simpsons, not as edgy as Rick and Morty, so about the level of Futurama.

When will this project release?

April, 2024. As of the time of this writing, the first episode is basically finished except for the credits, but I also need sometime to compile my sources, write descriptions, and make some thumbnails, as well as advertise the project.

BIOGRAPHY.

tw: death, drugs, violence

born in austrailia the only child ( not for lack of their parents trying ) to loving parents. most of their younger years were spent outside as much as possible. their mother constantly trying to wear them out. bash doesn't remember much of it, but they do remember being happy then despite how long ago it feels now. at twelve years old their parents were granted entry to japan, little did they know this would be the beginning to their end.

bash doesn't know if their parents had links to the criminal world or they were just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time. either way, bash returned from school one day to find both of their parent's bodies lifeless amidst a gruesome scene. law enforcement didn't do anything, at least that's how bash felt. then again, they didn't stick around very long to find out if there were any further leads. instead they opted to slip into the darkness of the city, rather than be placed in government care. it was cold there and for the first time in their life, they were alone.

it took awhile for the fifteen year old to adapt and learn. bash had always been swayed more to delinquent behavior. on fact their mother used to say they were ninety percent mischief and ten percent sunshine. stealing food, clothes, and pickpocketing anything valuable to pawn off later in hopes of getting a room somewhere out of the cold. eventually they got better, great in fact. on top of that, they'd started to make a network which ( even if the acquaintance didn't last ) gave them a steady couch and bed surfing rotation leaving less time sleeping on concrete and keeping one eye open. ultimately, they learned how to survive.

it was on the night they failed to survive that their life flipped on its axis and they found light in the darkest of places. bash ripped off the wrong person, a yakuza who immediately sent people after them to teach them a lesson. bash received the beating of their life ( no really, they almost died! ) and was left to be devoured by the hungry vermin they shared the street with. that's when that light showed up. lux took pity on them for whatever reason and helped them to a place that could replace ruptured organs and the arm hanging on by a thread. they got them in with mara as a dealer and wouldn't you know it? they were damn good at it. who knew they had so much knowledge about substances locked away in their head? certainly not bash and they were good at moving product, only getting better over time.

they still live life recklessly on the edge, not looking to move from their position ( even in the worst of times like when lux got locked up ). all they want to do is have a good time, never slow down long enough to think, and shake things up.

if you've not thought about it you can just share a song you associate with one each and/or a song for the whole crew hehe

hmm i havent thought much about their voices (and the music i listen to doesnt typically lend itself well to projection ahaha. e.g. none of my ocs were pimped out to make money for their deadbeat family before meeting a boy who changed their life)

i do have some things though

this is my hitchhikers guide to the galaxy playlist which i made around 2020 (around the time of these ocs) which is what primarily inspired their creation

all of these songs are pretty effing bax (and the rest of them) -core

i wanted to embed the rest of these because fuck spotify but mobile browser tumblr is genuinely nightmarish to use

anyways i like to projwct onto baxxy so this (one of my faaaavorite songs ever) is also him-pilled

voice-wise im not sure of the sound? kind of scraggly tboy voice. with the exact cadence of fry from futurama

i think this sound is very roy and i think she is a bit scatterbrained and absent minded (not exactly amnesiac but yk)

roy is far from dumb but i think high energy hyperpop is very much her style and i chose this song specifically because of the palpable tgirl swag. in the same vein i hear dubstep heavy mlp and fnaf fansongs and thing "this is kinda roypilled"

i think she would sound a bit like backxwash voicewise maybe. very smooth.

i associate tally very heavily with old-ish britpop (and both of the magrittes with glam rock) he wouldnt listen to weezer or radiohead (baxter absolutely would though lets be real) but he would Understand them. now imagining bax showing him angsty earth music (very cute).

this song *is* kip. its about him and he would listen to it and it is his vibes. in addition to the glamrock he is very much a goofy hard/dad rock guy

ill have to get back to you on the alien guys. i feel like they would sound very inhuman so atp i struggle with making any comparisons lol.

the music i associate all these characters with is veeery much influenced by the things i was into when i first created them and their story and what was inspiring me then eheh (glam rock, 2000s indie pop, mid-late 20th century british music. anything related to the ocean/pirates or outer space)

the art I did for my art show!!! i'm so happy I made a coherent exhibition out of 4 years of work. that and a few sketches I've written that I hope to perform next year

well this is gonna make sounds like gods biggest idiot but I just learned this past month that your dishwasher has a filter that you should clean every couple months, and if you do that, you don't actually have to scrub and rinse every plate and dish unless it's got something burnt/super sticky on there. I've been treating dishwashers like glorified disinfectants my entire life.

so there's that + my go to cleaning tip which is: when you're making dinner, clean as you go! you're already up and in the mood to do stuff, and it makes clean up when you're full and tired soooooo much easier
