Reading death of superman/funeral for a friend is making me so sad for Lois and the Kents. Your loved one dies a horrible death. His death is broadcasted on live TV with the entire world watching, and no one can help. And then you have to pretend as if nothing happened because, after all, you don't know Superman personally, right? He's your son or your fiancee and you can't even admit to knowing them. All of his colleagues are allowed at the funeral — superheroes he hardly knew, politicians and journalists he never met — but you have to watch from afar. You don't get a say to what happens to his body, because revealing yourself as his relative would paint a giant target on your back and he wouldn't want that, especially when he can't protect you anymore.

And this is how you write a good civilian supporting cast for your superhero.

What shows do y’all have lined up for this year?

I’ve already seen BMTH and Røry and will be going to Slam Dunk in May (Palaye, Waterparks, FFAF, LS Dunes) then there’s IDKHOW in June and Sleep Token in Nov.

On my wish list is Loveless who will be at Leeds in Aug, so if I can swing that then I can die happy.

A Solemn Quiet Gathering

When my father died, being his only child, I was left to prepare his home to be sold. I began by having painters place everything in the center of each room and then covering all of the furniture with tarps, so that the entire interior of the home could be freshly painted.

This work included moving all of the patio furniture on the deck of the three story townhouse into a small covered alcove adjoining the sliding glass doors which led onto the deck.

There was much work to be done in preparing the home. One day in the midst of busily organizing and moving things, I happened to pass the sliding glass doors leading to the deck and glanced out upon the small space leading to the rest of the deck. I stopped and stared- every piece of furniture in the now full alcove had a grey mourning dove sitting upon it. Together the entire group of doves formed a perfect semi circle around the interior of the alcove. It was neither raining nor snowing, and strong winds were not present.

I stood there examining this odd gathering. All of the doves seemed to be at peace; none of them were cooing, and apart from every now and then tilting their heads slightly to the left or right to glance at each other, all of the birds remained still. The semi circle which they formed appeared so neat and consciously arranged that there was a great sense of formality to this gathering of approximately 10 doves.

I had always liked doves, as I had already noticed that they were the most peaceful, gentle and retiring of all the birds who came to our deck for birdseed. Always seeking to avoid conflict with other birds, they often backed away and let other birds feed before them while they waited patiently, always in pairs, for the other more violent and assertive birds to finish their feeding.

And that was another quality of doves that I had noticed and admired- the fact that they always arrived and departed in pairs. This observation had motivated me to look them up, where I discovered that;

“Mourning doves are light gray and brown and generally muted in color. Males and females are similar in appearance. The species is generally monogamous, with two squabs (young) per brood. Both parents incubate and care for the young. Mourning doves eat almost exclusively seeds, but the young are fed crop milk by their parents.”

And then, one of the painters came upstairs from the first floor of my parents three-story townhouse, and asked me if I could unlock the downstairs sliding glass door underneath the deck so that he might go out and begin painting the underside of the deck. I told him that I would get right on it. Retrieving the key, I trotted downstairs and pulled back the curtains which covered the large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors leading to a small concrete patio underneath our deck. I unlocked the door, slid the small latch down and slid the heavy glass door open to the right.

And it was then that I saw a dead dove lying in a small pool of blood on our concrete patio, directly below the alcove in which the gathered doves were sitting above. Bloodied, and partially pulled apart, the dove had obviously been attacked by some much larger creature, perhaps a cat.

And it was then too, that I realized that above, on the second floor of my parents townhouse, I had been witness to a somber and sad gathering of dear friends for the funeral of a loved one.

So, for Sunday and Monday the top artists were pretty much all over the place which is nice lol. Avenged Sevenfold, For Today, Fit For Rivals and Alesana were all there for a bit. Black Veil Brides and Kendrick Lamar were somehow not there for a while, something I'm not used to lol. 😅

...until like Tuesday when Taylor Swift popped up and took over and stayed in number one until Saturday. 😗😂

And on Saturday, Black Veil Brides (my beloved) and FOB took over the top two spots. :3 💕

I'm pretty sure the main reason Taylor Swift gets to the top 5 so often is the immense number of songs she's got on my library lol. Ig it does make sense, cause I don't remember having any one of her songs on repeat at any point tbh. 😅

I sent a dozen white roses for Ben's funeral and Rosary tonight. I signed the names of myself and music and art teacher. And I also put in these lyrics. I hope to God it pisses his family off.

The entire time I knew then he had longish hair. But the picture his parents chose to put the obituary look like from his high school graduation. Ben was in his 30s. He hated his family. For everything I heard they didn't understand him at all and they treated him like shit. And I hate that they will end up with a flowers that I am sending to his memorial. But there is nothing that can be done for that.

It was another hard day at work especially having to make time to order bins flowers right in the middle of class because I have forgotten about it. This caused a huge amount of stress: having to deal with kids is such a personal time when my heart is breaking and I just want to be alone period.

It was a lot of money which I ended up charging to PayPal after I had finally just paid them off completely. But I would do it again.

I think I'm going to miss you forever..... I love you too
